These guys are idiots, I ordered food and no response from them. I called after 45min they say they did not get my number correctly. Yet another 45 min no response, when I called again that idiot said the same thing, he also mentioned that there were lots of customers.....after 2 hrs and fight with my wife it's 11pm and no food. I contacted their management however they want the name of attendant, seriously don't waste your time with these liars.

Cold Food, Bad Service, Very Expensive

Horrible, please avoid it. Close to Rs 430 including taxes per person for a buffet. We went last Saturday night at 9.30 PM. The place is supposed to be open till 11.30 pm. Most of the food was over, the stuff that is left is not hot. The service is one of the worst I have seen till date. Not sure how it got even 3+ stars rating so far. This place has to be closed, or improve dramatically to survive. I felt like an idiot to wasting 500 bucks for nothing. Near by there are better places like Gramin, Bayleaf etc etc

Service Is Not Great

I visited this place for a lunch with office colleagues. First, we struggled to find a place for parking. Some how we managed it. When we went up the stairs, there was no one at the inquiry. We had to search the whole restaurant so that we could find someone to inquire. We decided to go for a-la-carte. Food was decent, but the service was not good. It was very slow despite they serving the readily available starters from the buffet! Food was decent but a bit overpriced for the ambience and service.

A Dinner Completely Ruined!

The worst decision I've made is that I took my wife to dinner to this restaurant. The place was full and we waited outside in the stairway. The look from outside itself made it look such a cheap place. There were cigarette stubs strewn all around the place. To make matters worse, there seems to be some shady place upstairs smelling of cheap liquor. People going upstairs were ogling at the people who were waiting at the stairway.
All in all, a prelude to a bad experience- something I should have sensed and left the place, but didn't.
So finally, what was promised to be a 10 min wait stretched for 45 mins. And at last we were inside. Then the horror started. We ordered for starters and a water bottle. The water bottle took 30 mins to reach us and there was no sign of the starters. It wasn't just us. A lot of others were yelling at the waiters for the pathetic service. We waited for another 30 mins and when neither the starters nor some basic courtesy came from the staff, I banged 50 bucks on the table for the water bottle and left the place with a bad mood.
My only suggestion is this - If you don't want your dinner date to end on a bad mood, avoid this place like the plague!

Value for money

Amazing, amazing food and surprisingly at a very reasonable price. The Buffet has many veg and non-veg dishes. Not too fancy interiors but hospitable staff and delicious food make the visit worthwhile. I have been to almost all the restaurants in Koramangala and this is the first one I wanted to write a review for!

Overall Very good

Gorgeous restaurant with superior food. I would love to try the buffet for the value so it doesn't have to be relegated to a special-occasion-only spot. All the fragrant, flavorful dishes were to die for...

Dear sir, Thank you for Your valuable comments, we ensure we will keep up the standards of food

Meh...

I pass this place quite often and every-time see their banner for their buffet lunch! Decided to finally try it today.

The location is nothing great...parking can be a problem for cars. From outside it looks as if this place has shut down ages ago.

Its on the first floor, door is closed and no one even to open. Now which restaurant will keep its door closed without anyone being at the door to entertain their guests!

After being seated at the table...we had no clue why we cam here! No one came to ask for anything...we assumed this place serves both buffet and ala-carte. After 10 mins I had to explicitly ask the manager whether is there any menu card. He said no and that they only serve buffet.

In a buffet, usually soups and starters are served on the table. Not here. Firstly no soups...starters they mentioned two...tandoori aloo and some kebab...but only Aloo was available. Upon inquiring I was told that the kebab is still getting prepared. It was 1:30 PM and food still getting prepared for Buffet???

Moving on...we decided to not wait for kebabs...and went for the main course.

No breads and no one to inform that it will be served. Again after inquiring a person came to take order for breads. I tell him butter naan.

Meanwhile we are tasting the food....kebabs get served...and these are fried..!!! Kebabs are meant to be cooked in a tandoor if my knowledge is correct. And these were very bland and tasteless.

10 mins pass no sign of breads...after inquiring twice...again after 10 mins...a waiter comes with bread...only 1 portion of naan and that too plain!! Anyways I immediately order butter naan knowing their service will again take time.

Again 15 mins passes and no sign of bread...we decide to go for rice.

Then comes the naan..with butter this time.

The only saving grace to the entire experience is their food. Which to me was quite good. Otherwise its a sad sad sad place to go. Service is exceptionally bad.

Total tab came to 619(225 each for 2 buffet and 45 for fresh lime soda). Again for the price its VFM...but then the overall experience is way below average.

Definitely not going again!

Pathetic Service

This is the 4th time we visited this restaurant on december 17, 2011 for dinner. To our surprise we found that they serve only buffet dinners. We decided to go ahead only to find that many dishes on the buffet spread were exhausted and they wanted us to go for a-la-cart. We wanted to go with the flow but found that they took long time to keep up with serving. The food quality has also gone down over time... There is lot of competition for this restaurant in this area and it has to pull up its socks, if it wants to stay in the business.... I will think twice before visiting again!!

Not for the hardcore buffet lovers!!

Been here last weekend(27.11.11). Really disappointed because of the following reasons - 1) the menu and the environment is far far different and lesser from the same restaurant at indiranagar! . 2) They dont have any variety in rotis - you only get plain rotis! 3) non-veg items are just fine. 4) one of the main dessert items - gulab jamun got over by 9:15pm and the restaurant closes at 11:30pm!!! When asked for the reason, they said they had lot of customers. Seems they didnt know it was a weekend! 5) i dont know if it happens every weekend, but on the day i went, they didnt accpet credit cards! i saw lot of people leaving the restaurant to go get cash from the nearest ATM. 6) for Rs.350+taxes, i can vouch for better places with better food

Good North-Indian Food, Veg menu a bit small

Excellent ambiance, Excellent service, Excellent food. We went in on a Saturday, it being Navratri time, was veg-by-choice. The only problem was, the menu-card for veg items was pretty miserly, with only about 10-12 items and not many variations, so I was pretty disappointed on that front. However the food was excellent, the rice wasn't as succulent as anyone would like, but I'll let that pass, The breads were all good.
Will be going back soon to have a dig at the non-veg section :) (The menu was much more exciting on the non-veg side)

Superlative!!!

Wow, is all my wife, my mother and me could comment after having the lunch buffet at this place. It was my mother's birthday and as we are all great fans of north indian cuisine I took my family for lunch here.

I have a one and half year old toddler who is quite a handful and does not allow my wife to eat peacefully in any restuarant. In this place all the staff was so ready to help (by serving stuff on the table, offering to replace stuff that had gone cold like the roti's, even carried my son for some time) that we were stunned.

The food was fabulous and it has to be tasted to be understood. I would rate it as the best North Indian food served in a buffet when compared to all the others in Bangalore (I have had most!!!).

Guys you have just found yourselves a regular client family. Keep up the great work!!!!

I have been to TOR a couple of times.. one thing I did not like there was waiting for food for a long time. i have been their with my friends for a-la-carte as well with my corporate friends for a set menu dinner. both of them, the service was very slow.
On terms of food, some of the items are really good like potli kabab and shahi tukda.. overall the food is good..(if only the service gets better, everything will be perfect...)
its ideal for those who have a lot of time and want to have good food...

PERFECT

Went to Taste of Rampur on 02/09/2010. I have been to this place umpteen number of times during my PG at Alliance Business School for friend’s Bday Parties. But yesterday went with my wife for her extended bday celebration. I called them in advance to book the table and reached there on dot. They had reserved nice cosy place and as it was a weedday not much rush was expected. I was looking for a secluded table so that we can share long talks but these guys had closed one section in which I was eager to sit to save on AC as the guest flow was low.

I ordered a spicy sizzler and relied on their vision as to which dish I shall order. There were no chilies marked across to indicate the spiciness. The starter turned out to be mediocre. You can’t expect spiciness from Panner Tikka. It was soft, delicate, tastier but not great. For main course I ordered Subzi Meloni again on the staff’s suggestion and it turned out to be great. It’s just that the colour they use in the dish was on my hands till early morning. Onion Kulcha was great and Garlic Naan was equally good.

Later as I already informed that it was my wifey’s bday they gave us a Shahi Tukda as complimentary on the house with a very pretty candle on top. I was really touched. As we had enough, we just couldn’t take any more bites. But that was really too generous on their part.

In the end it’s a decent, nice place for good food.

Good Vibe, Good Food & Good Service 5*

Very few places can offer an experience that makes you come again and again, i found Rampur to do just that in service, food quality and vibe. They are five stars all the way IMO.

The food was excellent, the waiters attentive and the vibe was amazing, really can't complaint.

Share:

Decent place in Koramangala

Oki ambience - slightly musty though. No qualms on the food - starters were pretty good. Quite economical too.

Share:

low value, clueless manager

While this restaurant has great potential and the sweetest chef, they score very low on value.

We ordered in, haveli paneer (homestyle), 4 rotis, and 2 pieces of chicken (rib cage and wing) and paid Rs 420 last night. Rather disappointing.

The order was for 1/2 chicken and one would assume that meant 1/2 chicken!, What was delivered was a 2-piece something that could have been partridge for all I know. And if you're a hungry preggie, the build up is huge and dissappointment weighs heavy!

I rather have been spared the hype, told the truth when I ordered and would probably have ordered from Angan instead. Hey, we're in Koramangala. There isn't a dearth of food places around you know!

The clueless manager Dinesh (who took my order and sold me the stuff I didn't want) didn't help either. Instead of handling my call, he passed me on to the poor chef. Quite unprofessional.

I don't think I'll be eating here again. There's too many choices out there... why sweat on this one?

Share:

"Taste" indeed

This restaurant is a creation of awe. I have had vegetarian and non vegetarian food here. Every dish has a delicasy of its own. starters are very good.
The combination of the methi kaju roll and the shikanji and really a great start. the decoration and the look of the place is warm and people are good.
most of all the people are very good. the waiters and the chef is well informed and they customise their preparation as you like it.
I have gone back to this place again and again...and want to go here every time.

Ol' faithful

Rampur's a restaurant I always prescribe to friends who are looking for dinner in or near Koramangala. I've been there several times and always enjoy the food.

The ambiance is pretty decent, considering what they've done with the place. But if you squint, you can see how they've cleverly used simple material to create that effect. Tubelights shining through translucent cloth.

The place is a tad expensive for what they offer, so consider going once and only once the pay slip has come in.

The chicken biriyani is excellent and very aromatic and something I always recommend. The shorbas aren't worth it but the mutton dishes are quite delectable.

Consider calling in and reserving a table if you're headed there over a weekend, because it tends to get crowded.

The best bloomin royal Indian cuisine that I have

Bangalore, South India'sa most vibrant city. Ambling Kormangala with it shaded coves and strangley elevated stores and restaurants, came across The Taste of Rampur. Sounded cool, got up the stairs and then found meself in a Nawab,s court.
Efficienct service had me sippping on a G & T in a jiffy. The moist and succulent kababs to follow were only a indication of the delights to follow. The Gosh Nihari was was ethereal and unbelievably tender. The Mughlai rotis were softer then cotton and the whole ambience was very family oriented.
Mani, the partner/owner was very gracious in his hospitality.

God Bless!!!!!!!

Taste of feedback

We went to this nice looking restaurant diagonally opp forum and liked the ambiance. It was red and gave a royal feel.
The service was quite nice.
Tomato Shorba for Rs 55 in a small 100 ml glass was not entirely value for money. It tasted ok.
The mushroom chili ginger was way too spicy without much of a warning. Maybe if I was having a beer it would have been handy.
The next item we ordered "Malai Kofta" was sweet and with no hint of Tomato or any garam masala which we normally expect in a Kofta. It was quite a white paste of Malai and some Cashews and quite bland at that.
After the meal the waiter came up and asked for a feedback where I marked average for taste. He checked with me why it was average and I explained and his face changed. I could see disappointment writ large and he almost was not happy with our comments.
I wanted to check their Non Veg collections the next time I went there, but with the almost dirty looks that I received I will think hard before going again there.

Relishing tastes of Rampur!

After watching a super entertaining chic flick and a pampering day of impulsive shopping at forum my close friend and I suddenly realized it was time for lunch.
We didn’t want to eat at the mall. So decided to take a walk to a nearby restaurant, a 10 minute walk and you’ll find a corner with a meek board stating ‘A taste of Rampur.’
I am told that the lights outside make it attractive in the evening, but without the illuminations, in the daylight one would find it hard to notice.
My friend had been to this place earlier and recommended we go to this place.
A narrow stairway would lead you to the restaurant, and I must say that the interiors are indeed appealing.
It was a weekend and so the place was obviously crowded and we got to sit in a corner of comfortable cushions.
A look around after settling down, you’d find heavy shades of red and orange satins giving you a grand and rich mahal look and feel. The tables are placed quite closely diminishing or almost negating the privacy factor. The menu is handed to you by a well dressed waiter.
We quickly chose cranberry mocktails, which was delicious.
For the starters we had Sheek kabab and Chicken Tandoor. We completely relished both of them!
The main course was the hot n soft butter naan complimented with chicken gravy. We were almost full with all that we ate but it was tempting to taste the biryani and when we did so, what we got was a nicely dressed bowl of rice which was just so not what was expected. There was very less spice, cold with hardly any chicken!
This was a disappointment.

The buttermilk is worth tasting; it has just the right amount of spices and tasted very good! They also offer a wide variety of desserts.
I think it’s more on the expensive side, a meal for two would cost you around 600-700.
The service was pretty quick and courteous. This place is worth a visit, neither very special nor strikingly different.

Miscplaced cuisine, pricey...

As someone who's lived in North India (UP/Delhi) for almost all his life, this place was a bit of a let down. Instead of being a place to help evoke the flavours of home, we were treated to a mish-mash that was neither here not there.

Started off with a mutton burra - nicely marinated and succulent.

For the main course, we started with a mutton hihari - one of my benchmark dishes to evaluate a restaurant. Too spicy (and too much pepper?), though the meat was tender enough. Sent it back to kitchen to get the heat taken down. Was better after that.

Big shock: the chicken qorma, which was orange-coloured and sweet! Curd and tomato aplenty - stuff that shouldn't be in a qorma! Seemed like a distant, sweetened cousin to butter chicken. Couldn't continue and sent it back to the kitchen altogether.

Chef Dhirpal was receptive of our comments - treated us to a nice dessert of ice-cream with an interpretation of seviyan. The place seemed redeemed because of the staff's' conscientiousness, but...

... they billed us for the chicken qorma, which we had sent back to the kitchen!
Paid and left, not wanting to crate further scene...

Anyway, the positives:
Some of the food was nice, Ambience was nice, Well-mannered and helpful staff

Negatives:
Pricier than others, Some stuff on the menu might be quite unlike what its meant to be (not what I expected, going in, to be a specialty restaurant)

Ummm....Nothing really outstanding

Its a good/ decent place for north indian dishes. I kind off liked the ambience...it is very comfortable. Food is strictly deceny. I tried the tomato soup(say 2 on a scale of 5). Followed by Seekh Kabab which were ok-ok (3 out of 5) and then kulcha and black pepper chicken ---the chicken was horrible...it was extremely bland and creamy, which was not my idea of a pepper flavoured dish.
The service is goodand the chinki looking waiters are dammm cute and cheerful
They have a special bday song also that can be played on request

First of all the ,ambience is really good, and ifu get the corner table , then the seating is even great. Feels king size.

Food wise, it has a great range for starters in terms of veg and nonveg. and very affordable. The kababs, especially POTLI Kabab,Bukka Murgh and Rampur ki Khasiyat are great.Tandoor Gobi was very good.

The Biryani was not all that great, still prefer the SAHIB SINDH SULTAN's Dum Biryani.
Service is really very good. I was even sent a thank u message the next day.

Liquor is pretty affordable.

All in a all, excellent service and great INDIAN CUISINE.

Good food!

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times now. The very first time I went there, was when I happenend to see this small place when I was passing through Koramangala.

From the first visit to now, the quality of food and service has not changed a bit, and it is really good! The only thing is that, it has become pretty crowded and noisy nowadays.

The best part about this restaurant, which I have not found in most others is that, even though the restaurant serves both Veg and Non-veg food, Vegetarians will feel very comfortable with eating their kind of food, without any issues. My friends who have tasted the non-veg spread here were also pretty happy with it!

They have a lunch buffet as well, which costs around 130 bucks + taxes, and the spread which they give for the buffet is surely worth it! My favourties there are the Vegetable rampuri biriyani, which contains the perfect amount of spices which is required and cooked to exactly the right extent. The food is good on your stomach too. All the gravies and bread varieties are also good, and offer a sumptuous meal. Dont forget to sign off with a special rampuri nimbu pani , which tickles every bit of your taste buds and leave you with a feeling of fulfillment.
A vegetarian meal for 2 might cost anywhere between 300 and 450 bucks.
Thumbs up to this place!

Eat like a Nawaab

The Taste of Rampur is near to Forum and opposite to Globus. It is on a service road but visible from the main road when going on Hosur Road towards Electronic City. For techies it is on the same road on which Tavant Systems is located. Opposite to Rampur there is a development site which is being used as a Free and Temporary car parking.

Enter Rampur on first floor and your feet's will sink in deep carpeting on the floor. Inside you will be greeted with Awadh style ambiance. Red is used in plenty all over the restaurant. It is spacious and tables are adequately spaced for people to get engaged in a real conversation. Attached is a Bar where you have good selection of drinks. Also there is Hookah for enthusiast.

For ordering Starters there is a wide choice offered. Do make a point to eat any of there Kababs. They are simply mouth watering - goes for Non - Vegetarian as well as Vegetarian. Main course too be have an array of choices , for both gravy items and bread. Pilaf is good but i found it soaked in oil.

For 2 people a meal with starters and desserts would cost you something in between 600 - 700.

Happy Dining.
