More of a Fusion than Asian food...
Well, being a non-Indian myself, the nasi goreng is definitely not an authentic malay fried rice as it is supposed to be...the pork has too much of fat...but what I would credit this place for is their sauces..they have awesome pork rib sauce and some chilli paste that is very close to the authentic sauce you can get in Malaysian/Indonesian cuisine...pretty good..however, the main dish itself could be further improved..
Authentic and tasty Asian food
Last week sometime I was in a bad bad mood one evening
suddenly everything seemed bad and I felt like doing nothing
So N came back home and told lets order some food, have a drink, listen to some music and you will feel good. The suggestion seemed good so we decided to order in from Asian in the box whose menu we were having from past month or so from our Thulp visit (yeah its a Thulp venture)
The first look at their site and their menu both online and the printed one gives a very smart feel to it and their tag line is gourmet to go and that sounds very impressive too. We ordered Stir Fry Prawns with spicy sambal Olek and Greens beans, A chicken basil fried rice and veg stir fried noodles with soya sauce and fried garlic. The person taking the order was friendly and seemed to know food a little bit. We were told that food will take an hour to get delivered which is a lot of time but we were glad that they told it before hand rather than delaying the order plus we were in no hurry we had our drink to finish, music to listen you see
A little less than an hour later the bell rang and when we opened the door we were a little surprised. There was a very courteous person standing with the food boxes in a tray and the bill in the folder. It was indeed a pleasant a small thing sure but in customer service small things make a great difference I think.
I was also very happy with the packaging of the food, smart, convenient and handy
The food was nice too, rice had a brilliant fresh flavour because of basil, the prawns fresh spicy to the extent that I would liked my only crib was that noodles were a little sweet may be because of soya but all in all it was a meal we enjoyed. The food they have is not the run of the mill chinese and you wont find any machurian/veg balls on the menu instead you will find some very innovative and authentic asian dishes on it. they have some thing called Singapore rice meal which is a meal for 4 and needs to be ordered 4 hours in advance.
In the end I would say a must try if you are in their delivery zone i.e. Kormanagala, HSR and outer ring road and Frazer Town and surrounding areas

awesomeness in a box!
sliced roast pork with chilli n ginger n braised spair ribs; stir fried chicken and nasi goreng, green thai curry n stir fried garlic noodles - these are a few of my favourite things.
Finally we have asian food that's truly asian food and not an indian inspired/influenced excuse for chinese food (ugh). I've pretty much tried everything on the menu from both the frazer town n koramangala delivery services - and the verdict stays - it's simply the best. It's consistently excellent food, great quality ingredients. if i have to whine about something it's that they take atleast an hour to deliver..too long to wait for such great food.
We had done our 2nd order with asia in a box, this month. And the food was just awesome.. :)
1] gai sarong in starters [i.e. minced chkn coated with vermicelli/noodle served with sm hot n sweet sauce which was just awesome]...
2] chkn malay laksa in soup was great too...
3] a Stir Fried minced chkn with basil, chilli n mushrm was gud. [but i would prefer chkn pcs instead of mince.. but never mind :)]
4] The chkn green curry was okay.. not upto the mark..
5] And, a pineapple fried rice which was just yummy...
And to top it all, this superb meal for 3 costed us just Rs.650. :) :) I feel they should think about adding some more chkn starters :) Truly truly recommend this place.... Cheers:)
Awesome food at your doorstep.. :)
All Smiles... Just had a lazy day, a hungry stomach and all alone. All i needed was some good food. Thanks to burrp..
It is not very often that one comes across a restaurant that you wished you had known about earlier. I had ordered stir-fried chkn in chilli paste-kaffir lime leaf & chkn green curry. The food was just yummy and delicious & very reasonably priced. Not to forget, the way they deliver the food is quite impressive too. All in all, good food, good service and one definitely worth repeating.
Yummy in a Box!
My favorite Sunday evening thing to do is order some decent Chinese food and sit in front of the TV!
I decided to experiment a bit and order from Asia in a Box in Koramangala for a change.
Their food is surprisingly affordable for the quality and taste :)
Their Vietnamese Spring Rolls stuffed with Rice is done really well- nice and crisp, and served with delicious sauce.
A Must-Try on their main course menu for the spice lovers is the Pad Thai noodles. Just the right amount of herbs and flavors for a delicious meal.
All in all, a great experience for a day you want to eat in and relax at home.
Loved thinking inside 'the box' for a change!!
This is one place that gets my apetite roaring just by thinking of it :) An ideal choice for a quick lunch at office to make Mondays less mundane.
#19 on the menu - raw mango and papaya salad does the trick for me. The padh thai noodles and pineapple fried rice comes a close second. Unfortunately it doesnt deliver everywhere in bangalore yet!
I am a HUGE FAN of Asia in A Box, Koramangala. I have ordered over 8 times from them and have never ever been disappointed. I've tried the green curry, yellow curry, chicken satay, fish cakes, Thom Kha soup, minced chicken, mint and baby onion salad, Grilled chicken with sesame seeds salad, chicken with cashewnuts, and Padh Thai. I've also tried the Singapore Meal. The food is excellent, well priced and decent quantity. The green curry is the best I have had as yet!
Not worth it
Firstly, the reason why I ordered was because I had learnt a lot about the quality of food and especially the quality of the packaging. It was my first time. Turns out it will be my last as well
Ordered Chicken Satay, Corn Sesame Toast and Papaya Salad. While the salad naturally has to be cold, the others were cold. Stone cold. And I am not even far I am right within Koramangala and they have an outlet there. The Toast was especially bad - almost like eating grains. The sesame was crunchy, the toast was oily and the corn was uncooked
The satay was already bad - badly cut pieces of chicken which were not well grilled. And the peanut sauce which makes the satay so special, was really bad. Very strage taste
Finally the Papaya Salad, was the only thing I really ate. because it was edible and I had to eat something to feed myself. But the overbearing taste was that of Onions. I am certain that is not the way the Som Tam should be.
The only good experience was the order-taking and the fact that food came on time and the delivery boy was couteous. My one star goes to these chaps alone
Authentic Thai takeaway- Fact or Fiction ?
Let me address the title first .
Its a fact .
Outstanding place , service and quality , despite my rather mixed first experience with them.
This was recommended by Suman , whose food reviews and blog I value. I ordered the Char Sui Pork and the Pad Thai with the Cashew Chicken.
the sauces that came along with are awesome.
Asia in a BOx is awesome!
Its in my past unfortunately as although they kept sayig next month , the last year has seen no door deliveries to my area. If you stay either near Jal Vayu or Kormangalla, you are the luckiest soul alive.
Heaven gets delivered - and its packaged in Asia in a Box!
