not to go by first impression

Jan 2014 had been to this place on friends recommendation, excellent food and service and the hospitality of the staff was awesome.I mean what could you ask more in terms of Value added service. But alas went again on October this year on a Sunday, it seems the entire place has fallen apart. Two floor managers a senior one in the top floor and another in a white shirt in a bottom floor lacking coordination on streamlining customers, yelling at each other for mistakes. Senior floor manager in the top was literally feeling annoyed to serve customers and was speaking to them rudely. One Sibu a server a little younger but the only one continued to serve food with a smile. The hotel did not seem to have the capacity of handling packed restaurant. Had brought a relative along and had praised about this restaurant earlier to him and now I was there waiting with him sitting in a chair facing embarrassment. Of course the north Indian food was all-right, but given the entire experience would think twice before entering hear again. Given that there are many alternatives coming up in the area serving north Indian food.

Fabulous and Resonable Thali Meal

I Work on the Basavangudi main road, so I am a regular at Baisakhi, Gandhi bazaar.
This is a no frills place where you enjoy a quick lunch and leave.
The food is very tasty, served hot and quick.
Effectively doing a great job of the purpose they have set out to accomplish

Super North Indian Food !

Fantastic North Indian Vegetarian Food!

Served hot and real quick.

I have been a regular here and would definitely certify that even though the food is served real fast, it is not pre-cooked and stored food as anyone would presume.
The food is really fresh, the Paneer real soft and tasty.

Love the Paneer on the skewer and the Corn ball.

They serve a value thali which is really affordable and tasty.

Fabulous North Indian meal

For those of you who love good north Indian or should I say Punjabi cuisine, this is one place you must not miss.
They have such rare dishes like baigan da bharta, karele ki subzi, punjabi rajma,
Kari pakodi, Amritsari Kulchas & lassi, some items out of the above are on specific days
nevertheless worth it.
I being a regular here as it is close to my work, love to have their low cost high value thali meal for lunch at least 4 times a week.
Over all great food, some times a little crowded though, am not complaining because I can be sure that when a restaurant is crowded the food will surely be fresh.

Amazing thali meal

I visit the Baisakhi restaurant at gandhibazaar regularly and am writing this review because I would like more people to know and enjoy the fabulous food served here.
Inspite of the spiralling food costs and the crazy rates of vegetables and milk products I am quite amazed how they manage to serve such a top quality & filling meal for just Rs 65
The thali meal consists of a bowl each of a paneer curry, a vegetable curry, a dal, a cup of mix raita, papad, pickle, a big bowl of flavoured rice, 2 rotis and a dessert.
It is infact more than one can finish.
Especially for working single professionals like me it is a boon.
Keep up the good work guys
May your tribe increase !!

Fabulous Vegetarian food !!

I am from a Punjabi family from Udaipur and work for a bank on the Gandhi bazaar main road

I have been in Bangalore for over 13 months and one thing I have been craving for is the authentic Punjabi food.

Luckily for me I found Baisakhi a restaurant on the Gandhi bazaar Main Road, owned by a Sikh gentleman, and serving many of the dishes I have been craving to have.

I love the Rajma, the sarson da saag and the Pathankot karele here.
The stuffed aloo paronthas and the lassi are out of this world too.

Keep it up guys, and you would have a lot of regulars like me :-))

Best food for resonable price

I had been to this restaurant with my wife, took Punjabi Thali, very economic compare to pricy North Indian Thalis in many of the hotels in B'lore. Ambiance is great with old Hindi back ground music. Service was good (with Kannada speaking guys... I liked it). I certainly recommend this place.

Don't miss the welcome drink (Jaljeera or butter milk)....

Excellent food

The name is misleading, because there's nothing Punjabi about the food here; Its your standard South Indian style North Indian.
The food is excellent, and the ambience acceptable with the old Hindi songs playing in the background. The service is pretty good.

Disappointed

Had been to this place for dinner today. The food was really below average and all dishes tasted same. The after effects was hopeless with acidity galore. The prices are not that low. Do not get carried away by the authentic punjabi name of the restaurant.

Above Average

Baisakhi is a place we visit often. It's about the best place for North Indian food in Gandhibazaar proper. The food is alright, but not the most authentic Punjabi meal I've ever had. The service is great though;warm, helpful and friendly. The ambience(I think) tries to evoke a dhaba, with it's dim interiors, brass thalis and retro Hindi music playing in the background. However any "ambience effect" on your gastronomical senses is usually nullified by a large, noisy crowd, which the place is nearly always filled with. Baisakhi isn't exactly a place for fine dining or special occasions; but its great for weekend dinners.

High Value thali meal !!

Since I moved to Bangalore from delhi last year I have been craving for
home type typical Punjabi food and was really glad when my office I was moved to the Gandhi Bazaar rd.
I started frequenting Baisakhi and must say they offer great Punjabi food and
very resonable rates.
We invariably have the Punjabi Thali priced at Rs 55/oo, surprising, yes and has
more food than one can easily finish.
Great aloo parothas, rajma, karelas and saron da saan on their alacarte menu.
Keep it going guys !!

Happiness, Home delivered !!

Dear Friends,

Looks like an exaggerated title..
But let me reaffirm that exactly what it was today for me,
when I had 25 of my Old school time friends over for lunch at my bungalow.
I had heard about the food at Baisakhi from some of my family friends and
called them to ask if they would cater...
So I got food delivered at my residence from them and just served it
I must admit each & every one of the guests was raving about the food.
The pricing for the home delivery also worked out very well for the menu I had chosen and came up to less than 100 per person.
The delivery was punctual & on time that I had asked for.
Thank you guys, keep up the good work & God Bless !!

Overrated and Nothing Special

I went to this restaurant with my friend a few days back having seen a few reviews on this website.
We decided to have some starters first then the regular main course. We order the harabhara kababs and reshmi paneer tikka for starters and then nawaabi paneer and their famous chilli naan for maincourse.

Coming from Mumbai, I know a lot of budget restaurants that serve awesome punjabi food and compared to them this was frankly a disappointment. Apart from the chili naan which was something different no other dish had a positive impact on my taste buds. The harabhara kababs were a total disappointment.

I dont know how are other punjabi food joints in bangalore but to travellers who have visited awesome punjabi food joints before i must warn not to expect anything special.

Awesome & Very Innovative!!

The vegetarian North Indian food served in this restaurant is truly top notch.
Very innovative names and dishes too.
The Bhendi Churmuri, the Paneer angara, the subzi Pataka are all excellent dishes.
The latter two are for the spice lovers.
Try the Stuffed Aloo parotha, the chilly naan and the Kulfi.
Am told they have value meal thalis for lunch too .....
I have been a regular since I visited this place on my last trip.....

Fabulous Indian food, Great thalis for lunch

Irrespective of what other reviewers have to say, I definitely would like to affirm that Baisakhi is not a So So restaurant........it is Super good.

I love the crispy bhendi (they call it by a nice name which i cannot recollect right now) the Aloo parothas are great.....

My office happens to be very close by so i visit here very often ...
The thalis which I have atleast 4 times every week are excellent value for money,
@ Rs 75 a super filling thali meal with a drink is definitely a steal...

Service is crisp & smiling....

Do try this place, you will love it !!

An ok ok restaurant!

Visited this restaurant for an office lunch party.Nothing really great about it. Its a tiny place located in Gandhi Bazaar. There is an Ala carte menu as well as 4 types of thalis i.e Special, super special, deluxe and unlimited. There is a soup available in super special,in deluxe,a soup & a drink and in unlimited, soup, drinks and 2 starters along with unlimited breads and sabjis. The special does not include a soup or drink. We had ordered tandoori platter & hara bhara kabab for starters & it was good. The tandoori paneer was bland. It was like eating uncooked panner. The lassi had turned sour and it did not taste like authentic lassi.(even if it had not turned sour)The laccha paratha, sabjis and pulao was quite good. The raita was not good. The raita was untouched by all.The rice kheer was a delight at the end of an ok ok meal. :) The service is pretty good and quick though the waiter got little confused as we were 16 of us. :)A meal for two would come up to Rs 200 to 250.

Super duper thali meal

Hi,
Just happened to visit a Punjabi restaurant called "Baisakhi" on the
Gandhi Bazaar main road, this afternoon for a quick meal.
Must admit that the meal was super duper quick, we were in & out in
20 minutes after a throughly enjoyable and truely North Indian meal.
I had the delux thali, the Punjabi Kadi Pakodi, the baigan bhartha was outstanding......
I also had the Punjabi lassi, which was thick, rich & very Yummy.
Dont miss this place the next time you are in South Bangalore ........

Great Punjabi food !! Most resonable pricing !!

Have been visiting Baisakhi restaurant for the past 3 months, on a regular basis and must congratulate them for the total dedication to quality.
The food has always been top notch and I really enjoy the stuffed aloo parothas, the Pathankot karela subzi, the amritsari lassi, the roti basket and the chilly naans.
The Palak rolls are excellent as a starter.
The menu is very innovative and the service prompt and quick.
The ambience could be worked upon but it is ok as a place for a quick & excellent meal.
Good work guys, all the best, doo keep it up !!!!

Good food total value for money

Its one of the best Northindian veg food i have had in
Bangalore,
Each Currey has its own unique masala/taste to it. Not like the Sagar(..) food where most of the Currey taste the same.
Defiantly try the Chilly Kulcha -- very good.

The quantity is just ok for Two persons .
Absolutely worth for the money.

Needs to improve on the ambiance and seat/ arrangement.
Service wise ok.

Amazing !! Keep going !!

Dear Readers,
I visited this small restaurant on the Gandhi bazaar main road just yesterday after I saw the advertisement in the Rajasthan Patrika.
I took my parents who rarely venture out after confirming over phone if this place is purely vegetarian.
On confirmation we visited and were promptly attended to,
I was quite impressed with the innovative items like Pathankot wale karele (which my dad enjoyed), the haradhania koftas and the amritsari dal which me & my wife loved,
we finished off with the malpuas & rabdi
The food was awesome, served hot and quite quick.
would definitely recommend this place for the best North
indian food a pure vegetarian can get.
Saw Sarson da saag, makki di roti and stuffed Aloo parothas on the menu, for which we shall be visiting again really soon.
Good job guys, keep going !!

Nice punjabi Thalis!

Have been to this place couple if times. I loved the punjabi thali here. its got good quantity and quality. ambeince is average. service is fast and good., price is fine. they got good starters and soups . there is less vareity of rice items [which is the only drawback]. If you are a curd rice lover, then just dont forget to order it here! its lovely.

misguiding

this is not the ultimate north indian place, this not good value for money, i dont find anything extra ordinary.. there are many better places than this in bangalore.. This is not the best Punjabi hotel in Bangalore.. food is ordinary.. they should definitely increase the taste as well as quantity of the curries.. i mean come on Punjabis are known for serving large quantities.. items also there should be lot more punjabi dishes.. very limited items.. I will say it is an ordinary place which u can visit if there is too much rush in other places and u got nowhere to go..

Yummy, Tummy Carer

First time I have been here and want to go many more times as long as the good tastes are maintained further also. Really very neat and organised place. The waiter helps you thru the menu and guides you about the quantity they serve so that no food is wasted here. Good service. For spice lovers vegetable biriani is preferable. Vegetable makhani is too good. pullav makaiwala is also too spicy & too lovely. Price here is also cheap. A must try place.
