A Horrible Food Experience
This restaurant is not worth visiting even once. I tried it on the birthday of my wife and it spoiled the evening completely. The Biryani served by them was the worst I ever had, even the chicken was not cooked properly and it was smelly. I paid Rs 1200 for two items and could not eat it as it was awful in taste. Avoid going to this junk restaurant.
Just an average restaurant
Food tastes average and there is nothing to write about the cuisine. Decor is little odd with huge tables. Name of the restaurant is catchy but nothing else inside will interest you. Service was poor as no one seemed to care about customers coming in or waiting for tables. Since this is a roof top restaurant, it is not closed from all sides. Very noisy.
Good Place.... Nice Concept
Like so many places, this was also in our to be visited list. But I heard that its better to head here with a group. Otherwise it would be difficult to finish the food. The food being of size "Bakasur Size". We went as a team from office and opted for the not so famous Buffet.
The food was good, prices at Rs 444+taxes (400 + is turning out to be the minimum prices for a buffet these days). The set of items available included Starters- Chicken tandoori, Tava fried fish (I loved the chicken starters), assorted Indian breads and rice and dal. What I didn't like was the chicken Biryani. I almost hated it :-(
I haven't tried the A la carta, I'll hope fully update about that experience also.
Right from the time it opened I was keen to go to Bakasur. Quite frankly it was the name that caught my fancy. But after reading a couple of reviews here, I was slightly put off. But being so close to my house and the fact that I still wanted to go there, we gave it go.
And I must say I was happy to have taken that call. We went on a holiday weekday (Dashera) and to our surprise it was totally empty...not that we minded. The first thing that strikes you is the decor and the sheer space they occupy on the terrace. I really loved the decor. Very pleasant and soothing. One disappointment was that there were no couches for any of the tables. Now thats a problem for us since we have a tiny baby in tow. Thankfully the little one settled down in the strapless high chair although we were always on the edge... literally.
Coming to the lunch buffet. It was quite good, I must admit. We did not have any real concerns in terms of the taste or the the spread. They have quite a few items on offer and most of them were quite good. Unlike buffets in other restaurants, the main course curries were given enough detail and attention.
The staff were courteous...when you manage to get their attention, but they could be a little more pro-active.
Overall a nice experience and I dont mind going back to this place.
Awful place and overly prices
I just have a small review. avoid this place...for the pricing and food offered i would prefer going to a good 4star food lounge and enjoy my food with a lovely ambience and yes i will have options to order even if im veg and would get good food which taste well.

Shreshtha :)(hoo booked fr 28 ppl)
You can try only once but expensive ...
You can try out this place with a caution that it's very expensive. We tried the buffet lunch here on a Friday but find the quality of the food was not worth the money we paid. The taste of the food was also average alongside a poor service. We had to send four reminders to get the "Jeers Chaas" (buttermilk).
It was overly crowded for no reasons other than that this area lack any quality Restaurants. I wonder how some people termed this place for the best buffet lunch.
I wouldn't recommend this place if you are planning to have good tasty food with and to spend some quality time in a Restaurant.
Declining Food Quality, cluttered ambience
I've gone to Bakasur quite a few times since it has opened. And they do have a pretty wide buffet spread. While the price of 450 + tax is a little steep, for a good spread and proximity to the IT hub, we do shrug it off. The place has a good evening decor, and no air conditioning/cooler works since it's kind of open air. The best thing is the fact that the non vegetarians have all possible options of meat! The second best thing was the dessert section with jalebis, ice creams, halwa and more.
We went there today for lunch, and Friday saw the place packed to the hilt. The arrangement was messy, with people tripping on stairs, dropping plates, glasses. And the most irritating part is they have this ice cooler fan, which blows the rain dance kind of water spray onto people! Of course it was needed since the place is over stuffed.
So, here are the top downsides. Their buffet hasn't changed much, and if anything the items have become a little bland, and they need to improvise. They need to keep things more accessible like plates and cutlery. They need to mark areas of steps with colors so people don't keep tripping and falling. And something MUST be done about the ventilation when the screens are not opened. I am still giving it a 3/5 for the huge spread.
Good taste but expensive..service needs to improve
I liked the taste of food at Bakasur but the prices were on the expensive side. The service needs to improve too as I asked for a rawa fried pomfret fish and they got me a fish called rawas which I didn't enjoy at all! I haven't tried their buffet though so I guess it might be more value for money compared to ala carte.
Let me first start with rating ..undoubtedly 5/5 ...
Have been for my b'day celebration on last Tuesday. i had there one of the best lunch in Bangalore ...i have not seen those many variety not only in starter but also in main course, finishing for both veggies & non veggies ..:)
worth to go for buffet !!
Feel sorry for BAKASUR JI
Apart from the ambiance, I would say everything else is BAAKWAAS.
Food (in spite of the huge price tag) does not meet any expectations.
I feel really sorry for BAKASUR JI...I am sure he keeps on shouting from above...People this is NOT what I used to EAT !!!
And the best part, they included food items in the cheque which we did not even order for.
After cross checking, the bill amount came down by 500 bucks....Can you believe that???
Never ever will re-visit this place...
I hope Bakasur Eats all the Haters!!
While this is a democracy and people have the right to their own opinion, I feel responsible in leading some of the haters, who, while historically have developed their taste for Indian food at (the forever trying very hard to make north indian food) darshinis and udupi, and buffets at three quarter chinese. seem to have lost their way eating between empire, imperial and well....darshinis :-)
I personally am a huge fan of the food served at bakasur. It delivers exactly what it promises. INDIAN FOOD. They don't say they're North Indan, Northwest frontier or North by Northwest Indian Frontier food. The food is exciting, challenges your palate and delivers with full marks. They could have very easily succumbed to the pressure of competing with Punjabi by Nature, Punjab Grill, Tandoor(yes i said Tandoor) and such restaurants....but they hold their fort with the unique taste and the style of serving and plating the dishes.
While i understand that the Beera Chicken(Absolute revelation!!..No curd in Marination... people...No curd) will be new for a lot of people and they may still opt for its richer and famous Cousin - The Tandoori chicken, its about time we spiced up the variation in our Indian-food-ordering habits.
Butter Chicken(If you like your butter chicken simmering in butter in an orange gravy that you've come to believe is butter chicken...don't order this. I dare you.)
Makhana Daal - Unbelieveable Dal. It converted Dal Makhani fans like me too.
Raagi Rotis/Palak Puris - Self Explanatory. Health first People!
Keema Naan - My personal Favourite. Dipped with the Butter Chicken.....Heaven.
End it with the Jalebis and some gulab jamuns.
Ambience - I personally prefer the open air seating area which is large and the weather in the evenings just adds to the experience.
The music is fantastic - They play Coke Studio - How many places in bangalore play Coke Studio?? i love it!
Service is efficient, courteous, polite and prompt.
The Pricing is a tad bit on the higher side, but I'll always go back!
20 of us came here for a team lunch. We had made our reservation 24 hours in advance, and fully informed them that we are going to eat like crazed demons.
When we got there (perfectly on time), we were met with a wall of meh. Cold food, nearly-empty chafing dishes and trays, greasy cold food, and uncaring waiters who were more interested in the TV.
Not going there again unless I have proof that they have changed.
Bakasur - Bakwas!!
Had been here i think the first week of restaurant opening ! Huge promotion , huge galata - The name promotes the restaurant for quantity - went there ordered a starter - costing some 450 , and 4 piece of chicken - was not satisfied with the pricing - too expensive - and not tat great taste - 3 stars is for gud service and ambience !
Better than what these reviews say
We had seen such a lot of negative reviews before we landed up there and were very skeptical. And I am writing this because I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. They are much much better than what they seem in the reviews. My experience is as below.
It is set on a nice cozy terrace, colorful. Nice lighting and height of the roof gives it a 10/10 on ambiance. They have a bit of greenery around as well. The waiters were smart and friendly. We ordered 3 starters, 2 gravies and rotis. The gravy portions are huge. We were 5 people and still we had packed food home.
Drinks are not that expensive, so we ordered a rack of beer. If you order a rack, the price is damn cheap. To end it, I had a small piece of jalebi from my friend's plate. It tasted nice.
Suggestion to the manager (since he came to our table to ask us and he was very nice to us as well) - introduce smaller portions too. If I come with my partner, we cannot finish so much food. Will have to pack again :)
This is definitely a pleasant experience.
Homogeneous portion size
After reading lots of negative reviews, Am very much excited to go this restaurant and been there with my wife and friend's, Wow Rooftop Restaurant looks great, Warm greeted and welcome by hostess and escorted to the table feels great. So much of varieties in food menu got slightly confused, thanks to the Prem and his recommendation:
Soup: Tadka Ghost Shorba which is very good but i like the style of serving in Tea pot along with accompaniments,
Paneer Tikka: Very soft paneer.
Beera Murg: Amazing, amazing and amazing in taste
Mutton Chap: A bit spicy but very tender pieces of mutton
Dal Makani: taste is nice
Nihari Ghost: Again big pieces of lamb shanks, very much succulent.
Naan: One naan is for two person very big in size
Chicken Biryani: Four person can have easily
Gulab Jamun is very very soft
Drinks is pretty decent no complain, Bar man is professional. Service is very prompt and pleasant no complain at all, hats off to the wait staff and especially the Manager, who trained the staff properly. According to my ratings.
very much recommended.......
Verdict: Portion is really bakasur size..
I'd been to this place on a weekday for lunch and I was told, we can only get buffet and no a-la-carte.
You need to wait in an extra long queue and only to get some mediocre food. There's nothing great or good about this place to mention about. A meal for two over 1200 bucks and I would not recommend this place to anybody!!!
All bluff no bite
With a catchy and bold name as Bakasur, you would expect this to be followed up with some food of the same order. But this is not the case.
1. Valet parking
2. Lot of space and not congested
3. Decent food
1. Very costly food for the quality
2. Were running out of ingredients and hence added some HAIR to spice the dish up!!
3. Very few options for veg and fish.
4. No Air conditioning, lots of flies around
5. Slow service
With service charges being put into the bill without any recommendation from the customer, such shoddy service is not expected or appreciated. Wont be going here again.
you gotta be kidding me
Had been there for lunch and we opted for the buffet. Its one of the worst I have ever eaten and to make matters worse its priced at 550 Rs. They were 4 non veg startes and 4 veg starters all probably made at 11 AM and just made to sit in the pot for 2 hrs. None of them tasty and the servers said they would order the next batch only if the cold ones in the pot get over. There was also fish served(i liked the idea) but the fish was stale and the oil was probably over used.. the fish came out drenched on oil and did not taste of anything else. The curries were liked boiled water with spices and meat floating in it.The ice cream for the dessert was all melted and no bothered to watch it. Overall one of the worst management/service and food combos on offer in Bangalore. The only thing exciting abt the place is the name. Also they charged 50rs/per bottle of water + 10% service charge for the same...WTF
Good Interiors need not mean good food
Yeh.. learnt is the hard way! Absolutely awful food. Bunch of folks from office have gone for an afternoon lunch and we felt good about the way the place is done up. A good staff sans the cook/chef is what I would say. The buffet was absolute disaster. The non veg spread was scattered with uncooked meat. I have never tasted a worse chicken.. and even the veg dishes are devoid of any taste.
You can safely stay away from this place.. they should get a new a new chef/cook.
Nice concept, great food!
Wanted to visit this place but was skeptical to see a whole lot of negative feedback on another food website, but I'm glad I tried this place. I want to bust a few negative ideas doing the rounds about Bakasur, firstly, the portions are quite decent, better than most restaurants serving Indian food, Secondly, their menu is quite unique and has a few interesting selections which taste different from regular gravies and curries, thirdly, the service staff is quite polite and we found them rather sweet and willing to help. The prices are also OK for the portions served. I rather enjoyed dining at Bakasur. Good job guys.
Visited this place on Saturday night for dinner. The restaurant spans 2 floor, one indoor and terrace dining upstairs. Its spacious and nicely done up. The manger, a smiling young man showed us the table and presented the menu. Contrary to the reviews I have been reading on several websites, I found the portion sizes quite decent. The main course is served in gigantic bowls, which of course is misleading but still I reckon the portions are bigger than other restaurants. The kebabs we ordered were quite tasty and the gosht was perfectly cooked, the gravies were delicious too. Overall a likeable place. Wish the prices weren't that steep. Would definitely recommend Bakasur and visit soon for a team lunch to try their 444 buffet.
Bakasur -- Pathetic
First and only one Good Thing. It's Specious. And ambiance is just average.
On the Food taste it's average, not that outstanding.
Quantity Side : You would only laugh. Initially when ordered for three, we saw near by table, and we saw the standard curry container were really big. But when we got our's, we realized that it's just an illusion. The curry was just sufficient for one.
One the cost side : It's one of the higher end in the group. One Naan cost Rs. 150.00. That's a joke.
I would not recommend to go to this place if you are spending from your pocket :) Far more better choices are there around.
Sorry Bakasur... Pathetic Service, Higher Cost and creating illusion of sufficiency will not help you, because all are smart.
First and last visit
This restaurant lives upto its name. As Bakasur, the demon who used to eat large quantities of food often raw, this place too serves partly cooked food.
Both non veg starters and main course dishes were undercooked and poor in taste. The breads were equally bad. My friends who had veg there too share my opinion.
A big thumbs down for this place. I had good expectations but this restaurant lets you down.
First Impression is Definitely the Last Visit !
Walked into this place at around 8PM. Went up straight to the roof-top and was told there was no place. Looked around and saw around 10 free tables, at the least. Was told varying reasons to each walk-in customer, one after the other from - under staffed, fully reserved etc. Tried to reason, was told to "go make a reservation or go down to the indoor dining space". Went down, same scene - plenty of free tables, but was told - fully reserved to one group and we were told that they are under staffed. We were a party of 4 ( 2 visiting foreigners) and each one of us felt that their attitude was bad. I know that a new place in town would like to make waves, but not likes this. This is definitely the first time Iv seen a new place act all pricey and so "FULL" of themselves. Will not be visiting this place again.
