Good while it lasted!
A satisfied customer here; the food was good [not too spicy, not too oily], and they were very regular [while it lasted].
But - where are they now? the numbers listed do not work anymore; they went AWOL since DurgaPuja. Anybody got info if they will be resuming their service?
I was about to set up my own kitchen after prolonged harrowing experiences with tiffin services here in Bangalore. The facades of advertisement can lure one towards making those choices to decide: 'Lets try this one', may be the next and the next, so on. This frustrating quest for a satisfactory tiffin service ended with Bengali Home Made Food (Jeet and associates).
Having said that, I would like to narrow this review based on the below-mentioned:
Taste and quality: Excellent (varities available and nothing like junk food)
Quantity: Excellent (sufficient for one)
Quality of service: Excellent (as per previous experiences)
To be precise, I second to all the other positive reviews jotted down so far.
If one is looking for good Bengali food with homely touch at decent pricing, this is the place to get it from. Rest assured.
Great Bengali food in Bangalore
For last six months I am having my food delivered from this home delivery service named CHARCHARI. They offer a wide varity of dishes in both veg and non-veg. Me being a Bengali and non-veg lover, really enjoy the fish dishes like Shorshe Ilish (Hilsa in a Mustard Sauce), Chingri malai curry (Prawn Curry with Coconut milk) etc which they offer at a very reasonable price. They have a wide spectum of dishes to keep the food interesting and I am satified with the service they provide. If you are a Bengali and want want food thats closest to mom's kitchen, trust them.
The best Bengali Food in Bangalore
I was devastated by the typical Food in Bangalore and searching for some kind of tiffin services (strictly North Indian) that I can at least resist with. So I started browsing in the net and suddenly I found "Charchari" in Just Dial. I called the no. specified in Just Dial, one very polite guy pick up the call and answered all my queries at once. I was hoping that the food to be of North Indian style but was overwhelmed hearing infact it is a Bengali Mess since I am basically from Assam and my food habits is very much alike the Bengalis. So I decided to give it a try though I am very much confident about the food before tasting. But the food is exceptionally good beyond my expectation and can be regarded as the best food in the town. I am really very thankful to Charchari for providing such an excellent service. To all my Assamese friends in Bangalore if you are looking for tiffin services in and around Marathahalli, pl call these guys. Regards.....
Truly great home made food.
I have been in bangalore for 6 years.Frankly speaking this is the best home made food i have found so far. I truly appreciate
your variety of food.I think you have not left out anything in terms of variety and all are real taste and flavour and quality which everyone sacrifices. I can eat your food forever. Also appreciate your price which i think is within everyone's reach.
Best homemade food around (Bengali)
Its a great experience for me to have homely food in down the south, its been 7 years for me in Bangalore & till date this is the best homemade food I came across after trying so may home deliveries as well cooks for homely food. .Rice, Roti ,Dal & 2 Sobzi thats the best i can expect & most importantly with sufficient quantity as well as quality with in affordable cost. Its been 5 months me taking this service & me is happy with the food like the fast day I was, along with the food the special service is their caring nature & humbleness for their customer. I just want to suggest dont try to compare homemade food with hotel food in a scale of 5 its a 5 star homemade food for me.
Bengali Bhuri Bhoj
It was a great experience for me to have such kind of homely Bengali food which is now available in bangalore near old airport road. The food taste was awesome .I have got the no. from one of my friend who used to take this food when he was there in bangalore .I am really thankful to him that he hasd given me such kind of good contact.I was reading the last review in which Sam was telling something about the cost and the quantity.I would like to ask him how much he generally pays when he visits other bengali restaurant in bengalore for a thali.I think the other restaurant owner will not be able to think to give only rice and dal in that 45 still these people are giving that much which seems to me worth of .For me I would like to give them 5 star ranking con -sidering their food quality, service and for other aspect also.
No Big Shakes
I dunno if I was having a bad day or if the other reviewers had really "awesome" food cos our food waas nowhere close to even good. For Rs 45, there was 2 rotis, rice, dal, 1 sabzi, 1 curry. Everything was watery and spicy and hardly filling. Could do with a sweet or pickle. Nothing Bengali about the fare too. Quite disappointed! I cannot imagine having this for 30 days in a row. Homemade food? Seriously food that would be prepared bya lazy housewife, yes!
Appreciate your food
The one thing that I looked for in Bangalore, was homely food, outside my home. Bhaiya was able to fulfill my wish. I cant resist from appreciating your food. We odnt want spice, we dont want a royal flavor into our everyday food. What we want is a piece of care, a feeling like home. You are the one who actually takes care of all such smallest things, which count a lot. And frankly speaking, you made us impressed by your behavior, that is added sweet in your food.
In aword, its "Awesome"......
suswadu bangali ranna
I couldnt resist myself from writing this review. Its like EUREKA EUREKA. At last I found the 2nd best Bengali food - first being my mom's obviously :-) - in bangalore at the damn cheap rate. I found the leaflet near my house in Murugeshpalya, airport road and decided to give it a try. The guy who picked up the phone was very courteous and informed me that normally they service monthly basis, but quickly agreed to send the lunch meal for me for that very day. It was my veg day, so I ordered veg. Otherwise he has Fish/Egg/Chicken meals as well. It came with a large tiffin box with 5 containers. 2 containers full of rice (needed for bheto bangali), 1 container daal (kalojire phoron), 1 container aloo-phulkopy and 1 container of Potol-Posto. All these are for 40 Rs. Fish meal/Egg meal/chicken meals rate would be @ 50-60 rs. He told me that if I take monthly, it would be even cheaper - something around 1300 or so.
His name is Jeet. He along with his sister started this tiffin service. He operates from Yemalur (near marathalli). His sister cooks and he manages the service. He also services area like Kundalahalli and Murugeshpalya.
I talked to him for 10 minutes and tried to understand his service and future plans. I was actually curious to have found such great food at such affordable rate. To my queries he said, he never compromized on bengali cooking style. He has served some non-bengali customers as well, but never incorporated the deviations suggested by them (good he didnt listen to them:-) ).
Its just the first day and I am so impressed by their quality of food that I am surely gonna take their monthly service next.
I would give a 5 star rating without a second thought.

reminded me of my home food
I was deperately in search of a tiffin service and while searching on the net came across the reviews for this place on burrp. Gave it a try and am so happy that I did. The taste is so similar to that of my home-cooked food! It is authentic bengali. I love that they put aloo in almost all the veggies they make. The pricing is also quite reasonable and the food portion is generous. They also deliver at domlur. So even if you don't stay near murugeshpalya, you can sure give them a call and they might deliver.
excellent home made real bengali food
The best Bengali Food in town. Really amazing food. Excellent taste and quality. Their Bengali Platters are simply mouth watering. A must try for Bengali and Non-Bengali too.
Their Platters are for 40 Rupees only. They have Home Delivery services . Very very reasonable and great quality and taste.call them @ 9901 550 698.
Real ghar ka khana
In the new hectic work set up, we had 2 options for daily meals - a cook or meal delivery service. Cook is out because after work, we need some peace and quiet and not another person banging utensils in the kitchen! So meal delivery it was. I had noticed a pamphlet around my house in Wind Tunnel Road advertising their "Bengali home food" and dismissed it as another one of those many home style aunty food advertised in our metropolitans for the benefit of the likes of us who don't get Ma ke haath ka khana. But we decided to give it a try - and all of last week we have been eating super awesome dinner. It's really home made Bengali food, it reminds me of the cook at my aunt's place in Calcutta and our Bengali neighbour in Bombay! It is nothing like the usual oily, tasteless tiffin food. This is ghar ka khana... I am sure with this kind of food and the courteous owner and staff, this one is going the Mom's Kitchen way. People who stay in Airport Road, Bangalore, call them. At Rs 40 per meal, their food is a steal. especially when you are so far away from the real home food! Their number - 9901 550 698.
