GRAND Food!!!!

Happened to be at BG by chance as one of my college friends knew this place from before asked me to meet her here...it is a small and decent looking cafe which is quite congested on the ground floor but is quite spacious on the top floor....We preferred sitting on the top floor as it was less claustrophobic....

The food on the menu is quite interesting....She ordered for corn bomb and garlic bread....She also got a 1/2 of potato n leek soup..We also ordered for some milk shakes seeing we were going to sit and wait for few more friends.....You can sit here and not feel the need to rush out or being pushed out for sitting there too long....We ordered little and waited for the rest to join us n munched on our food....

Once all had turned up we ordered for the rest....The egg pasta salad with a nice cheesy dressing...Here the salad was nice and crisp fresh and dressing was plenty the way we would make at home.....Mushroom crepes was yummy......One veggie sub with her choice of feelings.....Few sandwiches, burgers and Delhi darbar pizza and we ate slowly and shared, so we tried all we ordered.....

We talked for so long and then we made space for some dessert; heard they are so yummy here...So we had to eat.....We being a group of 5 ordered all n tasted all too....So we did the same for desserts too....So it was black forest fantasy, brownie fudge, hot chocolate fudge, titanic and dark devil....

Food was yummy, service was good and I will surely visit again n again....

Randomly Tried, Tasted and Loved!

I had crashed here 3-4 times trying different dishes every time before I ordered their BG's steak burger, and to my realization it turned out to be the best burger I have had in town! I am a Boca Grande patron only for that burger ordered alongside their rich hot chocolate.I have recommended and pulled many of my friends for the same and they simply love it too.The ambiance is decent and service is good too.A nice place for friends to hang out for hours without any interruption from the staff.Anything on the menu has never been a disappointment so if you want a good place with moderately priced delicious food, Boca Grande should be your perfect pit stop.

Good Food

I went to Boca Grande with my brother on a weekday because we couldn't decide on any place and my brother found this place good an year back. We ordered a BG's Special Chicken as a starter and Chicken Sausage Lasagna and the order took forever to come. The service is too slow even on a weekday. When we finally got our order, the BG's Special Chicken was really good though it was a little expensive, I would say that it was definitely worth it. The lasagna tasted good but it has less quantity for its price. Then we got a dessert, I don't really remember the name and this to our surprise came quickly maybe because it was almost 10 pm. It was some volcano chocolate sundae. It had 3 chocolate flavors and it had small chunks of chocolate cake mixed. Being a chocolate lover, that was the dish of the day for me. The ambiance was good although there were a lot of people smoking there (An absolute No for me during dining) and the service is extremely slow. In the end it was about Rs 800 for 2. So to conclude, if you have time on hand and you want to have good food, then you can visit this place. :)

Good Weekend brunch

We checked this place for breakfast on a sunday. The spread was good. They had sausages, breads, some cereal and also eggs to order. The eggs to order had quite a few options to combine with chicken, cheese or mushroom. They also had waffles, toasts fit for a completely filling breakfast. The place was completely packed and the ambiance is really good. The place fills up pretty quick so I guess people wake up early just for the English breakfast. Definitely going back again.

Mediocre

We went there for dinner and ordered a starter called corn bomb, a chicken burger, a veg peri peri pizza and finally arabian fantasy (rum n raisin and fig ice cream) for dessert.

The corn bomb was okay, a trifle bland. The burger was quite good but the pizza was quite sad, the cheese more like rubber and the final outcome worse than a pizza you might make at home. The rum n raisin part of the ice cream sundae was good.

The ground floor inside portion of Boca Grande is a bit dingy and we went to the first floor which was partially open and much nicer to sit in.

Prices are reasonable, but I don't see any special reason to return here.

Best hangout place !!

This place is the only place where you can hang out as many times without getting bored. Time is also no constraint. Just sit and chat for hours and hours. No on will bother you. On 1st floor you can smoke too with your coffee which is definitely an add on. Snacks are tasty too. Try it once and you will come here again and again.

Scrumptious Weekend Buffet!

Do you have a stomach, that is a bottomless pit? Do you love English breakfast? If yes, then Boca Grande's weekend brunch buffet is for you! (Seesh, I sound as if I'm writing a promotion article for a shopping network). Housed on 80ft road, Koramagala, opp the police station, this place is easy to find. It's got two floors, got plenty of seating space and has even got a shop upstairs!

My friends recommended the weekend brunch here and after one Saturday night that involved staying up all night long, I decided to head out there. Even at 10 am, this place was pleasantly packed. Looked like everyone had got up early just for the brunch.

The buffet had quite a number of items present. They had plain / brown bread, Chocos, cornflakes, ice tea, Frooti, fresh cut fruits, Omelette made to order ( you can choose from cheese omelettes to ones stuffed with chicken!), mashed potatoes, baked beans, chilli cheese toast, sausages, waffles, tarts, muffins and coffee. Phew, that's quite a list.

The buffet is open from 9 am till about 12:30 (I think). Though the seating area upstairs is spacious, be there early because it fills up fast.

Been there quite a few times after that Sunday and I go back there every now and then. A definite visit for those who love a long Sunday English breakfast. And yeah, the buffet is around 242 per head with tax.

I've only had the weekend english breakfast here and it is very good value for money...Rs. 242 per person for a hearty english buffet is a bargain.. I'd recommend highly.

Awful as the star rating says..

It is hot if you do not have an a/c ova your head....staff seems to care less about what you are interested in or if I may say so your presence...First and last visit..although the menu was promising other factors matter to me...the reviews tell the truth for this one...Dont go there you might regret wasting your time.....

Slow Mo

Indeed very sluggish and laid back service.
Nice ambiance, good place to spend a long lazy afternoon.
Food is good, and worth the wait.

The best place to take a leak in Bangalore! ;)

Honestly ,I'd suggest you visit the place only when you have a lot of spare time in hand, for the service time taken beats the span of an Ekta Kapoor soap on tv! The place seems more like a house converted into a cafe.Ambience is good, recommended for breakfast. Good place for long chats with friends on one of those comfortable sofas on the first floor. I had a great time ,mostly because the food was worth the wait , the company and the handsome dude on the adjacent table ;) Definitely worth a visit..If only they'd improve the service...Bon Appetit !
P.S-If you're wondering what the title means, watch out for the quote on the bathroom door-"The best place to take a leak in Bangalore!" ;)

The worst experience ever!!!

Had been to this place for quite some number of times and had experienced the worst customer service. To start off, the glasses in which the water was served was stinking and the water tasted as though it was mixed with vegetable oil and this experience was during my multiple visits to the place so had ended up always ordering a bottle of water during my every visit. My last experience in this place was horrible and I am never going to visit this place ever. My friends and I decided to catch up for coffee in this place and this manager came to us with a menu card. We glanced it for a minute while we were waiting for 2 other friends. This person took the menu card from our table and gave it to some other customers, so we thought they were in short of the menu card and that we can wait for a while. After 10 mins he gets back to us with the menu card and stood there. We asked him to give us a couple of minutes so that we can place the order and he responded so rudely stating that he cant and that we had been there for half an hr. We were so irritated with such bad behavior and immediately left the place.

Probably an advice to this manager in this place would be to learn and understand the meaning of "Customer service" because I am sure he has no clue what it means. One other thing is that they got to remove the message on one of their message board that states something like you don't have to check your time and that you can spend as must time as you want there which ISNT the case actually. Maybe modifying their other tagline my friends and I feel "Boca Grande is the safest place to leak in"!!!

There aint a negative star here, so with hard feelings I had to give a 1 star for this place that SUCKS...

ok food yuck everything else

I went to this place the other day along with my family..... walked in, was not greeted by anyone, had to find my own table which I did after 10mins. Then it took the waiter 10mins to give the menu, after half an hour I managed to place the order. My family and me were starving and as the food had not yet come after 45mins.... I looked around frantically and saw the Manager and the Waiter who took my order watching

Breakfast buffet Not worth it

Have heard Boca Grande is really good as an evening hangout, and it surely is.
My experience was not that great though, had been here for the breakfast buffet.
Breakfast buffet is priced at 242, but is not worth the money you pay for.
The spread is not very attractive, its the usual.
After 10:30am it starts becoming hot, as the buffet is arranged on the 1st floor( its not air conditioned on the 1st floor)
The only thing i found tasty at this place was : Chocolate Waffles and Omelette.

Enter this only if you want your food for take out

Where do i start?? Given this place has amazing desserts and food! Well i guess they know that so they think they can act and talk as they please. Do these people not know how to treat customers? The manager is an absolutely RUDE person and most unobliging. Id thought i'd left my wallet and called them and asked them if they could check."Hes says its not our responsibility!! Like i was asking him for a new one! I was so indignant. But yes being a sucker for they're apple pie i went back. As usual.. take forever to give us the menu and the waiter acts like he's doing us a big favour. No smile no eye contact no courtesy.. Seriousy this is just utter nonsense too bad service charges are included !.. I'd only suggest this place to go.. Do not waster you're time here for an "enjoyable" occasion

P.S : The AC's are part of the decor i think :-/ ( as they refuse to put them on even when asked 4 times)

Its raining rats

We are once a month regulars to boca Grande for post dinner desserts. Laast night while sitting in the open air forecourt, we suddenly were witness to a merry game of chase being played by 2 fat rats. Horrified we notified the staff and asked for a shift inside, only to be frostily told that there were no tables and we could shift to another table in the forecourt. Obviously the "Rats" are prefered patrons. So adios Boca grande, we will return in 5 years when the sequel to Ratatouille is being filmed..... More pertinently if regulars (who also know the owners) are treated this way...then people of koramangala goodluck to u too.

Boca for THE BOCA (Bengali - Dumb F@%k)

We were waiting for the torn and tattered menu cards to arrive for 10 mins after we were seated. The order took 40 minutes to arrive we just ordered a cold coffee, a coffee and a corn bomb. The worst was the take away order a pene alfredo and 2 veg sandwiches, we waited for another 40 minutes to get the take away. No one was bothered to give us the check. To top it all, all the waiting left us with swollen red patches all over our bodies. Don't get me wrong it was not food allergy, the food was average, THE FREAKIN' PLACE IS INFESTED WITH BED BUGS, IT GOT INTO OUR CLOTHES OUR LAP TOP BAGS AND CAME HOME WITH US. WE NOW HAVE TO SPEND MONEY GETTING OUR HOMES AND OFFICES RID OF THIS MENACE. TALK TO THE MANAGER ABOUT IT HE CLAIMS HE IS NOT AWARE OF IT WHILE THE WAITER CONFIRMED THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN THERE FOR SOME TIME, NOW GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. They were just not bothered. WE WERE IN FOR ANOTHER SURPRISE WHEN WE REACHED HOME THE SANDWICHES WERE MISSING... and when we called to check, THEY BLAME US FOR LEAVING IN A HURRY AND WE HAVE PAID FOR THE WHOLE DAMN THING. WE HAD TO LITERALLY THREATEN THEM TO GET THE SANDWICHES DELIVERED. ON THE WHOLE IT WAS AN APPALLING EXPERIENCE AND A HORRENDOUS PLACE. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP IN. I HOPE NO ONE ELSE DOES TOO.

Do not visit - no respect for customers!

3 of us friends walked in the evening...liked the sit-out and decided to choose a table there. We were not attended to, had to go in and get the menu and go back in to place our orders....My friend's coffee got cold and so she requested the waiter to shove it in the micro for a few seconds...he refused!
On asking for the Manager we were asked to go inside and meet him..we refused and demanded he come to the customer's table...after 45 mins he showed up...very arrogant, saying that it is not their 'job' to reheat food and that we should know better than to sit outside because its very difficult for the waiters to attend to us outside.
The place needs to be shut down or the management changed!

Favorite hang out joint

The thing with Boca is it is always too crowded. And of course on weekends, you can not even breathe. And still we end up visiting the place all the time. :D
I have not tried much of the main course menu but the desserts/shakes are brilliant. The American/European Soda pop is my favorite.
The service could be a little better but maybe its not up to the mark because they are full all the time!
Love going to boca at 10 in the night for a post dinner coffee/dessert and stay there till 11-11:30.
I also love the way they have witty stuff written on the menu, on the restroom door etc :-]

Bad Service but good food!

After waiting for over an hour for our food to arrive I can say that please DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE ON EMPTY STOMACH!!!

For their famous desert Oooozy goooozy, Menu says we need to place an order 20min in advance, unfortunately after an hr and a half i had to ask the waiter to pack this so that I eat it on my way back...

Coming to the food, we had Onion coriander soup, potato wedges, veg lasagne and Penne Alfredo. Apart from the wedges, we liked all.

The wedges were lying at the service counter for over 10min, but the waiter was missing so when it finally arrived on my table it was cold and soggy instead of crisp.

My rating is entirely for the food and for nothing else. I did want to pack a few things for the eve but after looking at the pathetic service decided against it!

A continental lunch....

it was my wifie's B Day.. she asked for a continental lunch.. I searched through Burrp... found about this place.. I didn't had much expectation.. but I was simply amazed... by everything... yes everything.. superb ambiance.. though i am not a good judge of continental Food.. but it tasted amazing... we started with latte and brain drain (tasted quite good) though Lasagna was not that good...but Risotto was mouth watering and how could I forget the spaghetti's... and If I don't write about garlic bread & nog veg basket that would be a crime... I was bit afraid about the bill .. when It came... I was really happy... its really pocket friendly.. VFM...

In one word the experience was awesome.. I'll definitely return to the place... just searching for a reason to go there....

Never Again

I'm gonna make this short and simple.
Time to order main course - half an hour .. WHY?? Cause the waiter on the 1st floor was missing ..
Time to get main course after order - 1 hour 15 mins .. WHY ?? god knows !!
Order dessert in advance... waiter says 20 mins to get it to us. We say OK. Waiter comes after 20 mins saying one dessert is not available.
And the dessert did not taste anything like the description said it would be.

Time to get dessert - 1 hour.

I get it that people come here to relax.. but 3 hours plus is no joke.. considering we ordered just burgers and dessert..

Being a regular here, I am upset. The cake was stale. I used to love the chocolate mousse pastry here and they gave me a stale one which is probably a week old.

Never again coming to this place. And neither are my friends if I can help it.

Pathetic waiters.

We went there last Sunday morning for breakfast.

Waited for 15-20 mins in vain to get a table. Although 2 tables were free, the head waiter didn't let us occupy them mumbling that those tables couldn't be occupied (we guessed that those tables might have been be reserved).
After asking him multiple times, he didn't deign fit to respond to our request to get us a table.
The other waiters were either huddled together in a discussion or just pointed to the head waiter if we asked them.

Needless to say, we got tired of waiting and left.

Just want to say this to Boca Grande management- Your breakfast spread is good. But no one will visit if you have such pathetic waiters who provide god awful service.
Also, yours is not the only place in Bangalore that serves good breakfast. So maybe it's time to stop being so complacent.

Bad service and not very authentic food

Went to this place after reading good reviews on this website but was disappointed.

Service was really bad. We ordered hash browns which were pretty good but couldn't understand why it was served with mint chutney !!! The chicken nuggets was made with batter and minced chicken (pathetic) !! Corn bombs also was average. The brown onion soup was good but they had placed a cheesy garlic bread on the soup making the bread soggy !!! The black currant soda did not have much soda and the cheese cake was not at all cheesy !! The mexican red pepper rice we had for the main course was pretty good but quantity was very less.

We didn't order any desserts as we were pissed off with the service by then !!!

A complaint is a gift

My previous review was purged for unknown reasons...In spite of that I visited Boca twice.

The first time I chose the first floor & during the recent visit used the couch by the salad counter. On the first occasion the gentleman waiting tables was not interested in taking our order...I personally went down to the counter to help myself....once we were done with the first round I wanted to have one last dessert & I asked the gentleman to help me understand what "Choco Late" is all about..He slowly replied...."it is a chocolate dessert"...ROTFL! I wanted to jump into a glass of water & commit suicide...anyway I collected myself & went ahead with the order.Choco Late reached the table after several reminders & follow-ups...to be honest it was nice.

The couch encounter was gruesome....Nobody would take our order....nor would they turn on the air-conditioner even after multiple requests. After several EXCUSE MEs & HELLOs orders were taken...2 brownie shakes & 2 choco mambo arrived after 35 mins. The brownie shake was excellent & helped us wash down the average choco mambo.Oozie Goozie was next on the TO EAT list...having eaten at Boca numerous times I know their menu by heart...I know what OG is & the preparation time as well.....Sadly our indulgence was delayed by another 65 mins...reminding the waiters went futile coz they had a standard answer "Saar!!!, you only placed this order a few minutes ago"....I should have settled the bill & found the door right away, but I did not. Being a people manager in a customer facing industry, patience & tolerance form a vital part of my approach. I ordered more...a "Dark Devil"... It tasted cheap & another 20 mins wait made my barometer scale new heights.

On both occasions the bill touched the 700-800 mark & the service on the other hand reached Davy Jones. Well,A customer facing business should be matured enough to handle criticism/feedback...Deleting someone's view on a paid experience is an insult. I believe in providing constructive feedbacks & feel very happy when businesses thrive. Boca Grande has sworn to founder in spite of me giving them multiple opportunities to serve me better.

If you don’t take care of your customers, someone else will.

boca grande FANATIC :)

I am the kind who lovvvvvvvvves breakfast and for me it is a fantasy land. I can put up with sad lunch or sad dinner, but a sad breakfast really spoils my day. I totally believe in having a breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper. Staying in a hostel is a pain, when you have to get up on time to be able to have breakfast. But it's worth the effort I'd say. Thankfully, messes generally don't botch up breakfast- speaking by my experience, breakfast turns out to be the (relatively) best meal of the day.

Well coming back to my review :P which I almost forgot indulging into my breakfast fantasies. BOCA GRANDE gives you an ultimate spread of English breakfast starting from omlette to sausages to waffles to muffins to Ice tea to coffee to mashed potatoes to crispy toasts...I am already salivating like a dog!

The people are extremely courteous. The food is amazingly delicious. And fresh. They make it in front of you. This breakfast buffet happens only on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 12pm :) What you should do is go early, eat slowly and linger around till 12 :D It is a house converted into an eating place. Therefore the charm and the air around is very comforting.

First time we went there, it was S's birthday. One sight of that huge spread was enough to fill my appetite. While I was enjoying the chocolate syrup and fruits (We dont get fruits in the mess, no!!) , S was trying to convince me to have more and more sausages and ham so that I can 'wasool' all the money :P

So people who really have a goood appetite should go and make the most of it. Apart from the breakfast buffet, which by the way costs only Rs. 200, other stuff is also good. I tried the lasagna which I must say was delactable, but the quantity was kinda let down. And oh! the desserts. That's my favourite part! I was literally drooling over the desserts. I was seated right next to the corner where they were preparing the desserts and all that whipping, slicing, warming, wooooooooooooahhh the aroma of cream and essence was killing me. I ordered Tiramisu. S ordered some *fancy name* pastry and our friends ordered this exquisite dessert (don't remember the name) which we called "Dosa and cream chutney" It looked like dosa and tasted like heaven. I don't know how they prepared it; I felt cold, crunchy pieces in my mouth with sudden droplets of warm chocolate sauce and a sweet after taste :) **makes a mental note to visit BOCA GRANDE once again**

The ambience is also very amicable. Very home kind. Specially for breakfast buffet. I love the colours and the funkiness. On the tables they have little puzzles that you could solve while waiting for your order. We had lots of fun doing that.

They also have a website www.bocagrande.in/ which I think could have been made more friendly. Nevertheless, they are good at what they ought to be :) Am all smiles.

Used to be good !!!

When I went there first 2 times and ate a Chicken Steak Burger, I thought it's heaven and also the best burger in city. And I recommended the place to lot of my friends.

But I guess standards are fast falling. The last 3 times we went there was not so good experience. The food was below ordinary. The Chicken Steak Burger was pathetic.

And more than that, the waiters there seem to be a bit uninterested in taking orders. They were just standing like statues without attending the customers. Also 15 minutes after we place the order, another waiter comes to ask us to repeat what the order was. It happened 2 or 3 times. If he didn't understand, he should have clarified immediately, not when we are almost expecting the food to be on our table.

I guess they require some serious revamp in all aspects. Until then, good bye.

Poor service and foul food!

I just signed up on burrp to write this review. We were really disappointed regarding the food AND the service.

After reading all the good reviews here, we decided to visit Boca Grande in Koramangala. The first annoying thing was that we had to wait like 15 minutes until someone came and gave us the menu card. It's not like they were busy - the waiters were just standing around. Now we were surprised about that, since we saw how three salads were ready for serving but none of the waiters picked them up.

We ordered two salads (Caesar's and Tuna) with some bruschetta, followed by Ravioli al pesto and Chicken Cordon Bleu. After 10 minutes another waiter came to get the orders again, since the first waiter "didn't understand what we meant" (?).

While the Caesar's salad was ok, the tuna salad was foul, stinky and no way eatable (!!!). I told it to the waiter and he wasn't even reacting (OR replacing with a fresh salad OR removing from the bill!).

We have to mention here that the pesto and the Cordon Bleu were good compared to the starters.

I won't recommand this restaurant to anyone else, since for this price (about Rs. 1000 for 2 person) you can get WAY better restaurants in Bangalore and you won't need to trouble with all the slow (maybe bored) waiters.

Dear Bones,

Let me revert to your review in parts.

First of all you had an issue about the service being lax for which I would like to apologise and would like to tell you that the same has been brooght to the floor managers notice.

Secondly you had a problem with the Tuna salad which you say was foul. The tuna used in the restaurant is a branded canned product, and tuna generally seems to have a peculiar smell to it. However we have done our investigation regarding the same and aslo taken up the matter with our suppl

Good Hangout

I had long thought of writing a review about this place as I am more or less a regular here. I am just amazed by the last few reviews. I am sure it was an one off case. The manager of the place is a thorough gentleman who I understand was the chief protagonist in the last episode. But, I think the guys who wrote the last few reviews have a valid point. Boca Grande should have refused the reservation for 20 people, if they couldn't accommodate them. In fact I know with their arrangement of couches and chairs it is impossible to accommodate 20 people together. Boca is not the place for a large get together. Guys if you are regulars you should have also known this.
Having said this Boca service is one of the best in town. The staff is friendly
and don’t show attitude. Food is good if you compare it with Road Trip. The weekend
English buffet breakfast is sumptuous. This is a place you can spend a lazy evening
over hot chocolate and sandwiches.

P.S: Of late the couches are in a very shabby shape with torn reksin. The management I think should refurbish them.

As for the couches. we are on the job, 60% have been redone and the balance 40% would be done by the next few days.

Hope to see you soon.

Horrible Experience

Horrible experience today, 14th Aug 2010, time 2:30 , 20 of us working professionals went there to have a good time..but were met with horrible hospitality and a very rude head waiter, who said we were making the place 'ugly' by our presence..which we let go the first time...but when he repeated the same words and didn't show a bit of respect towards his customers...we walked out of the place without completing our meal..hope the management is reading this...and takes suitable action..you've lost quite a few regular customers Boca Grande..and be sure the word will spread...

No longer a favourite :(

Standards of food and service at Boca Grande have hit rock bottom. I was there with a couple of friends on Sunday evening and was disappointed. It took ages to get the attention of the waiters and order what we wanted. The AC was not on. And, when it was turned on the temperature was set at 28 degrees. When repeated requests to turn the temp down were not understood, we had to actually get up and turn it down ourselves. Coming to the food - we had the chef's special masala sausages, fish fingers, and bruschetta for starters. We also had hot chocolate, lichi shake, and coffee. The fish was stinky and the sausages were very greasy. For dinner, we had fish and chips, fish with tarragon sauce, chicken and sun-dried tomatoes risotto, chicken salad with zucchini and broccoli, and a veg sandwich. The portion of fish and chips was measly. The risotto was lacking in flavour and the rice was not well cooked. The salad came without the broccoli and the sandwich bread had melted because of the liquid from the filling. Food standards are definitely not what they used to be. I will not be returning to Boca Grande.

Pose for the Camera

You know when the shoot music videos and they want to do candid scenes of girls smiling back, throwing back a drink, laughing and looking pretty? They'd probably film it here, except theres no booze in this place. The food and coffee were both good, and I think the amount of ice cream and deserts on selection could make a diabetic cringe, but it was very tasty.

Another good place to show off the city...I agree with another review, the onion soup thing was very nice, although piping hot.

Very nice place -

First of all, thank you burp and other reviewers. I was looking for a cool place to take my date. and I found one.
It was an excellent place. We sat on the first floor - balcony side. it was raining too. cool breeze, balcony side... amazing feeling. to add to the food was also nice.
we tried onion, coriander broth soup, cream of tomato soup.
OCB soup was awesome - an un-common type soup.
then we had golden fried munchies. it was decent. not too great.
CAESAR salad was AWESOME. sundried tomatoes in the salad tasted LOVELY. Good dish - must try. we took it with Ranch Dressing.
The stage was set to try main course (given our good experience with starters etc). We had delhi darbar pizza and Deviled Mushroom. By now you would have noted both of us are vegetarian.

DDP - was decent.
Deviled Mushroom - mixed reaction. some peaces of veggies and brocolli tasted GREAT but mushroom and sauce in general was not good.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT. but I am not too liberal with the ratings, you see:) as the service has scope of improvement.

Old Faithful!

Almost all of us have a go-to place, a place that never gets things wrong. Like a long lasting affair of the heart, it's pleasing and secure.
For me, that place has to be Boca Grande. Yes, I'm a foodie and I love experimenting with different food from various pockets of the world, but whenever i seek good, filling food I make a beeline for Boca.
Boca sits pretty in a converted house. Walk in, and you'll see wooden benches standing on pebbles and cobblestones. One wall is dominated by a water feature, and placed between the gentle trickles are, rather quirkily, rear view mirrors.
Push open the door adjoining this semi al fresco area and you step into the ground floor of this eatery. If you're guilty of indulging your sweet tooth a tad too often, your eyes will be magnetically drawn to the dessert display at the counter. Mousse cake, cheese cake, chocolate sprinkles.... mmmm! And all this before you've even taken a single bite!
The ground floor has comfortable chairs and futons to sink into, with lighting that's not too bright and retro posters that perk up the ambience. It's the non-smoking section of the place - a tongue-in-cheek poster declares 'We Kick Butt!'
Climb the stairs and you'll find yourself in smoky fields. Yes, you can light up here. This floor is open on the sides, and I always try to bag one of the seats on the edges, cos who doesn't enjoy some fresh air, albeit tinged with tobacco, during a meal? The seating pretty much mirrors what's on the floor below, and a charming touch are the antiquey lamps hanging from the wooden rafters.
The service here is somewhat iffy. Sometimes they're spot on, serving food, water and taking orders with the efficiency of a Fortune 500 company. At other times, they just don't care, cloaked in a general air of tardiness. And guys, don't depend on them for recommendations. The colourful, elaborate menu has detailed descriptions of every dish, so trust your judgment, whisper a prayer and chances are very good that what they place before you will be delicious. :)
And now for the food. I'm rather proud to say that I've sampled almost everything it offers (50 visits and counting!) and here are some of my personal favourites.
The BBQ Chicken Wings are quite pleasing, slathered in a sauce that's tangy and not tongue-scorchingly hot. The Fish Fingers and Chicken Nuggets taste somewhat similar, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Crumb-fried and non greasy on the outside, with soft, tender meat on the inside, they are a good start to the meal. The salads are fresh and zesty, and I love their classic Caesar Salad, and the Egg Salad - egg whites stuffed with pesto, which is simple and delicious.
The crepes here are fabulous. The Smoked Chicken Crepe is a sure shot - the slightly sweet flavour of the pancake perfectly complements the creamy, smoky flavour of the chicken filling.
If you love a good, meaty burger, then the Cock a Doodle Doo won't let you down. The fried chicken inside is a bit similar to the way a certain Colonel makes it, but this, paired with a thick slice of salami between two fresh buns makes for one really nice burger! The Steak burger is good too, a generous amount of meat flavoured with a peppery sauce that finds itself on the fries as well.
If the whole burger-sandwich routine is really not your thing, opt for one of the dishes in the main course section. The Chicken Lasagna is cheesy, tomatoey (when in need, invent a word, just like Will Shakespeare!) and served with crunchy garlic bread. The Grilled Chicken Saltimbocca is chicken in a creamy white sauce, served with a potato pancake and steamed greens. I love this dish! If you like red meat, try the Chef's Lamb Special. A delicious lamb gravy served on buttered rice and topped off with melted cheese, it might be a weight watcher's worst nightmare, but a few extra minutes at the gym the next day is a small price to pay for a dish that balances a melange of flavours so effortlessly.
If you want to make like the Romans and order pastas and pizzas, go right ahead, you wont regret it. The pizzas here are superbly baked - with thin crusts, fresh toppings and gooey, stretchy cheese. The Chik Fungi is a good option and Boca does a basic Margherita very well too.
When you need a sugar rush to end the meal on a high, look no further than the Oozy Goozy, a semi-molten chocolate cake served with snowy vanilla ice cream. Perfect and well-worth the half hour's wait for it.
What's the damage? A meal for two, with starters, main course and dessert would be anywhere from Rs. 500-700. Not a very princely sum when you take into account the portions and the quality of food.
Whenever I'm here, I always see a few familiar faces, other Boca fans like me. That's it's charm. Once you like it, it'll become one of the fixtures on your culinary map.

Yuckiii-Tori!!

haha.. tht's just me being mean!

Instead of writing about the place and how "cool" it was or how "nice the staff was... I'd rather describe my experience through something I ate at this place... so here goes :

This 'chicken on a stick' reminds me of the song 'nothing on you'... (just replace the "girls" with "chickens"). 'Yakitori' sounds and tastes (I assume) as Japanese as it gets!

Basically chicken satay served with soy sauce. However... and there is a key difference here.. this barbecued chicken is Japanese & the Japs with all their 'smartness', 'casioness' and 'Toyotaness' are different!

The meat tastes like the charcoal had embraced it so passionately, ... that when they parted, she just had to take a piece of his dark side!

The 'burnt meat' flavor sticks to your tongue.. me thinks it can strike a chord with everyone! Who in their right mind has not loved the taste of slightly burnt chicken on a barbeque??

I don't wanna talk too much about the 'juiciness' on the outside and a slight 'coarseness' on the inside.. that's precisely why there's a slightly sweet soy sauce there... to aid in the passage of the white meat as it snakes its way down your esophagus!

Woah!!! Just imagine if they had done this to beef??

Boca Grande you are one of my favorite places in Bangalore right now... stay that way!

Nice place

With my college very close by, it's no surprise that I would have tried Boca Grande many times by now. It literally translates to 'Big Mouth' in Spanish, and that's what you need to gobble down their large burgers.

First things first. You HAVE to try the Fried Golden Munchies here. They are absolutely delicious. They're fried potato balls mixed with butter and wrapped with melted cheese, served with horseradish flavoured mayo. One word. Orgasmic.

The Chicken Steak burger has very succulent meat and comes with a great sauce. The fries accompanying the burger are already marinated with the sauce giving it a delectable taste. The Lambhorghini burger is equally good, and the meat is juicy and tender.

I also love the salads here. The lettuce used is fresh and crisp, so are the rest of the vegetables. They charge you Rs.15 extra per dressing, which was queer. My personal recommendations are the Macaroni Bloom salad and the Lamb salad. They go very well with mayo, ranch and the cheese dressing. You can always ask the Chef for recommendations.

The consistency of the Blueberry Cheese Cake is excellent, and the cream cheese is just right enough to melt in your mouth. The Oreo Shake is another favourite here.

They have a fantastic buffet here on the weekends, which include everything from cereals, breads, sausages, ham slices to delicious choco-chip muffins. The Omelette station is interesting, as you can customize your omelette, so you can throw in ham bits, mushrooms, peppers, anything! Try the iced tea too. It's fantastic.

Come in large groups to try many dishes as their menu is exhaustive. Friendly staff, nice ambience, most importantly, great food!

The first-floor is left open, so you can smoke here.

Decent Hangout

This is my second visit to Big Mouth or Boca Grande, to give the place its Spanish name and was chosen by me primarily because there are board games which the patrons can borrow to play. After parking the car on a convenient side street, we strolled across to the lounge where, we were met by the very polite manager who pointed us towards the staircase leading upto the first floor of the lounge. This was a simply delighful place with a nice breeze blowing and we felt lucky to get a table on a Saturday afternoon. Sitting down comfortably on the sofas at a low table, we looked at the fairly extensive menu and settled on an oreo shake and smoked chicken with sauce crepe for me and a non-veg burger for him. We also ordered a slice of Blueberry cheesecake. The food took a long while to come, but my previous visit to Boca had already taught me that so, I was anticipating a long wait. While waiting for the food, my friend and I requested the chess board and played a game of chess. I also checked out the in-house store which was filled with a lot of funky jewellery, some nice clothes and lots of shoes. When the food arrived, we slowly munched through it, getting in another game of chess meanwhile. Chess and meal over, an hour and a half later, we gathered up our belongings and left. The place is really nice and comfortable. It is quite large and has many options to choose from - seats close to the window on the first floor, seats on the windowless ground floor which are as comfortable, outside seating and, seats in cosy corners where pillars help with screening the occupants from the prying eyes of other patrons. The food is ok. I didn't really enjoy my Orea shake, though the crepes were fine and filling. My friend seemed to like his burger also and found it extremely filling. The Blueberry cheesecake was well, a blueberry cheesecake and nothing to really write home about. Service is good but the kitchen is slow. Not a place for a hurried meal or drink. Then again, this is a lounge and not a fast food joint so hurrying shouldn't be on the agenda when going here. The games are a nice idea and a pleasant way to pass the time. There is no loud music blaring. The music is soft and pleasant old 80s and early 90's music. A good place to visit and spend a few hours, relaxing, enjoying the fresh air, listening to music, playing games or just chatting - especially on a hot Summer afternoon.

Good food, good ambiance, friendly service

Why I hadn't been to this place so far, beats me. I pass it very often, but it always seems to be "in my blind spot". Probably because it's façade is so "low-key" and understated.

We decided to try this place after, of all the things, reading about it on Burrp. We nearly decided not to go there after we encountered some pretty bad traffic along the way. I'm glad we did make it though, because the place was a revelation.

The interiors have a few funny signs - someone there has a sense of humour; probably the owner, a Frenchman named Valentino. The ambiance isn't bad. It isn't outstanding, but it isn't seedy either. Plain, clean, and simple. It seems to be frequented by young college-going kids, and it made us feel rather out of place.

However, the owner more than made up for our discomfort by putting us at ease. He seems knowledgeable and cordial. His food suggestions were right on the mark. The rest of the staff are not so cordial, and not very knowledgeable.

The menu is quite comprehensive, and it will take us many visits to try everything on it. The starters were not bad at all, and the prawns were delicious. The Caesar's salad with the balsamic dressing was okay for my tastes, and the chicken was slightly dry.

The main courses were quite good. The grilled chicken on garlic bread, etc., was very good, and my lamb with rice was good too. The quantity is not bad at all - we're both good eaters, but we were filled pretty soon, and had to leave quite a bit.

The dessert selection is outstanding. I wanted to try the cold stone, and the experience was not as good as I expected, but was not bad. They could do with getting some chocolate chips and almonds to add to the dessert.

After the meal, the bill was surprisingly reasonable. For a place that offers such a good quantity and quality, were were suitably impressed.

Overall, I was quite pleased. For such a small, simple place, the experience is much better than expected. I'd certainly visit it again.

Great hang-out, food is not bad

Food: Moderate
Service: Nice
Ambience: Pretty good for casual chic
Will return: Most likely
Value for money: High

As you walk in, the nice patio and the full-wall mirrors lead you to a sense of chic arrival. Pretty large spaces welcome you - although it was only two of us, we figured that the seating arrangements were thoughtfully laid out, good place to hang out in groups of 10 - 12.

The walls bear large posters of some jazz album covers, which look OK from far, but on closer inspection, the blocky resolution of the multi-zoomed pictures spoil the fun. Well, now, who goes to a restaurant to indulge in jazz-sleeves ?

The music was getting into the way of conversations. Overall, this place gets an 8/10 for chic, relaxed hangout-kinda ambience and decor.

Food:
We went light. The experience was modest. The prices, are pretty reasonable and the portions - generous. The menu is a little complex, I wonder when we will see the Web 2.0 kind of easy-to-read-ness on restaurant menus.

The BBQ chicken wings were spunky; the sauce, not the usual BBQ but a more of a honey-soya combo.

Then there was the Boca Grande special. Refrigerated chunks of meat coaxed and sauteed and served with fries on a bed of cheap sandwich sliced bread(ouch!). Layered by almost the same sauce that came with the BBQ chicken. Good portions, OK to eat.

The Fusilli Arrabiata was a disaster. The sauce was made up of tomatoes, tomato ketchup and some more tomato ketchup. With chilli flakes for dressing and about 150 grams of powdered black peppercorn commissioned to destroy your taste buds. And the evening.

I politely requested the waiter to let the chef know. I specifically said that I do not want a change but it was nice to see that they got me a new plate of pasta. However, the niceness did not last long when we found out that it was the same sauce dunked in boiling water to dilute the tomato-city. Suddenly it seemed that the previous avatar was better.

We tasted some cold coffee (called Mocha Shake) and some Namma Bengaluru coffee. Both were mediocre. Especially the NB Coffee is priced at Rs. 65. Any day the local darshini Rs. 6 coffee would kick the falls off this one.

Service, as someone wrote earlier, is non-intrusive and polite. Exactly what you would want at a hangout. They could change the ugly scottish caps though.

The folio in which they gave me the receipt has a smart-ash comment. "You are unique. Just like anyone else." OK, I have a decent sense of humor, but with a quip like that you want me to tip you over the 10% service charge ? Ha Ha !

This small, slim folio in which they give you the receipt. It has the BG logo. A real nice touch I thought.

It would be unfair if I do not mention the "Bittersweet" concoction we had at the tail end. A double shot espresso with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream. Simple, but freakin' good ! It's 12:28 AM and I think that's what's keeping me up to write the review.

Awful experience

Heard a lot about this place, did not start of on a good note. I wanted to sit out in the garden but they refused to serve us there. Next we went in, the couches were well worn. The tea and shakes were good, impressed with the mushroom starter too, but it went down hill form there the so called "tender chicken" was the toughest meat I had in a while. Then had heard a lot about the Italian main courses hence ordered pasta, it was just okay. Honestly I have had better for the 180 Rs they were charging for it.
The worst part was the dessert, a fancy name for plain sponge cake with blueberry topping. Suggest this place just for some evening coffee and light snacks and not for dinner. You will also save your money for a better place.

Brunch is the good

Saturday and Sunday morning brunches are quite nice.
With the recent modest increase in prices, the menu can do a little revamp!

It was disappointing that we couldn't make it even after reaching the place at 11.20 A.M. That's quite early for any lazy bum!

All these so called negatives are overshadowed by the awesome food and yum desserts!

I've been haunting this place for quite some time now. Service is non intrusive, accommodating a times (for change of orders etc.).

Yummy food ....must try !!

For those of you who are looking for a coffee shop with a Euro-Italian menu...Boca Grande is the place.

I visited this place on a weeked...quite spacious. The restaurant has a ground floor, first floor and there is also some seating on the outside...benches. The ground floor is a non smoking zone.

The seating is just about fine but each table has a glass draw which contains some nice puzzles, scrable ...etc.

The service is a little slow..the puzzles and other board games really help.

Now the food -
My friend and I ordered for some masala tea which was very good.....better than CCD. For the main course my friend ordered for a veg sandwhich and I ordered a chicken burger (chef recommended).

The chicken burger was served with a generous portion of french fries and a colesaw. The colesaw was yummy. one portion of the burger had a chicken salami and the other a large portion of fried chicken breast. The chicken had a spicy coating of herbs which was yummmm... The spicy coating, salami and mayonise....a great combination...

The mayaonaise...definitely prepared by the restaurant and tasted very good.

The yummy food makes up for the slow service.

Pricing - very reasonable...value for money.

Overall a good experience...4 out of 5. Sure will visit this place again.

Yummy sausages and creamy crepes!

Boca Grande is an ideal place to unwind with your friends and have a great meal. The atmosphere is relaxing and the menu quite elaborate.

We started off with the masala sausages and chicken yakitori. The masala sausages were cheesy and the basil complimented the dis. The yakitori was good too. We also had chilli cheese toast - I found the chilli a bit too much to handle.

We then decided to "go berserk" and picked mushrooms and lamb pepperoni as fillings for our crepes! The crepes were mindblowing. The mushrooms and lamb combination really worked well. We also had a chicken lasagna which was quite tasty.

For dessert we had Oooozy Gooooozy - a chocolate concoction that was risp on the outside and gooey on the inside and came with a scoop of ice-cream. It was quite sinful. We also had a baked cheesecake which was letdown. The meal was excellent and we will definitely come back again!

My girl-gag literally let our hairs down and had a blast!

An excellent place to hang out and have great food

This is one of the few places which give you the feel of a coffee place but at the same time serves you excellent food. I would recommend people to try the cheese cake here. Best thing about the place is its pricing. Great value for your money.

Very good

This is a coffee shop with an extended menu. Serves some very nice burgers & sandwiches. The highlight for me was the crepes. You can order an assortment of crepes all for under 200. Very novel & very well made - there's hardly any other place in BLR that does crepes well. Prices are very reasonable.
The decor is very nice too. This is a refurbished bungalow so the ambience is very charming - this would have made a fabulous lounge bar. Shame they don't serve any beer/liquour.

Their service used to be inattentive and SLOW, but now they're really good.
Absolute must-visit... also say Hi to Valentine the floor mgr there...

Went to this place for the second time and liked the breakfast. Was a little disappointed earlier because the food and service were actually disappointing. This time around the the food was good, liked their variety of eggs. The service was again disappointing specially for a breakfast. Eggs should not take too much time.

Fabulous New Menu

I visited this place sumtime back and had a gud time. The place, the feel, the food was all gud. But this weekend when I was there, to my surprise I was made to wait for a table as it was packed.

Having waited for 20 minutes my friend & me were rather hungry. Hence i decided to make it quick by asking the waiter to get me what he thought was the best. He offered me the choice of Tempura prawns for the starter and along with that a Brownie shake and a Green Apple Soda. The drinks came in about 10 minutes and I must say that the shake was really yum and the soda was refreshing. The Tempura prawns which arrived later were crisp & fresh.

For the main course we had ordered a Steak Burger and Laksa curry with rice. The burger as the name suggest had a chicken steak inside the bun which was too good to describe. The laksa curry was also excellent.

Though after such a good meal we both were really full but as the waiter told as that we must try the new dessert in the menu which was ice cream cake we got tempted to try that ...
and believe me it was too good ... over all it was a lovely experience and had a great time .. the dinner was totally worth as the prices on the menu were pretty reasonable...
so guys its a must try place ..
boca grande... cheeers...

Nothing to write home about

I had heard a few friends rave about this place so decided to try it out. My friend and i went there last Saturday evening. It was deserted. Probably because of diwali because otherwise whenever i pass through this place, i see a lot of people hanging out. Anyway, the waiters didn't have the common sense to give each of us a separate menu. We had to ask for it. The service was pathetic. The staff was chatting very loudly. One staff member spoke non-stop for close to half an hour with a lady who was by sitting all alone on a table close to ours. I ordered an espresso, which was strictly okay. My friend ordered a pineapple caramel, which wasn't great either. We ordered stuffed mushroom caps for starters. It was served cold. By cold i mean right out of the freezer. We were served the main course even before we could complain about the starter. For main course, i had ravioli, which i must say was good. My friend was also happy with his Italian main course. I'm unable to recollect what it was. The mushroom caps were probably reheated and served to us when we were midway through the main course. Finally, I do not like restaurants where service charges are included in the bill. Here it is 10% but if given a choice i'd have not left any tip, at least not more than 5% for the extremely lousy service.

Not my idea of crepes and continental

I had heard a lot about the English Breakfast here. One of these days ( a weekend) I hapened to be at the Forum and I went there, kknowing fully well that the breakfast timing would have been over - but wante dto try the stuff nevertheless

Between the two of us - we ordered two chicken based steaks. I cant remember the name - for two reasons. First, not everything was available so finally the waitress, a rather disinterested one - said she will give us "something". Second, they are so damn difficult to remember as it is with those long names - whatever happened to brevity?

Anyway, after having had it with the indifferent service ( dont know what they were busy with since the place was empty) and with the chicken having given up on me - I was also distracted ( in a positive sense) by the crepe station with all the sizzling noise

We ordered one. Well, would you like a Plain Masala Dosa with lots of chocolate syrup and chocolate balls on it? Yes,? Oh you must be nuts - but then would you like it to be called anything other than Chocolate Masala Dosa? That is the Boca Grande crepe for you

Hope I had a bad day and they had one too. The place has a good ambiance otherwise and promises much

A good place to hangout with friends. Service is pathetic - but when you just want a decent place to sit and chat and not be bothered about ordering a lot of stuff, Boca Grande does it for me. This has become a good place for me to have business meetings - the place is empty in the afternoons and more spacious and quiter than coffee day.

My bad experience with the shop in Boca Grande

Guys this one is important.
I loved the food and ambiance at Boca. Agreed the service is a little sloppy but even that is ok. But the experience I had in that shop was a disaster. There is this small shop tthat is run by this guy full of attitude. I was checking out some tops there and he said, please dont keep it that way, you're doubling my work. Then i said i need to see them and if you dont want me to just put up a board here. He kept giving that irritating attitude as if he was doing some kind of favor on me. I have a friend who bought a footwear from there. She walked with it for 15 mins and it broke. She came to this guy and said i dont wanna return it but can you atleast try and repair it? He said an arrogant and stern NO. I have been to many big malls in India and abroad but not even once have I experienced such a mannerless shopkeeper. Just beware when you enter. He looks dudeish but is full of arrogance and attitude. Will never step in that shop again in my life. Just wanted to warn you guys and let go my frustration too. Except for the shop i suggest try boca, its good.

One of the Best Hangouts!

After almost a year, I deliberately chose this place as I knew, this was one of those place where one can hang out from morning till evening without any hassles.
3 of us met up for lunch and we were waiting in the ground floor. They’d asked us to wait for a while as they were clearing up the first floor after the breakfast.

We moved to the first floor to enjoy the more comfortable seats. The menu card was handed over to us. It looks so much different from the previous year’s. All the cards are tucked in a booklet now unlike the jig-saw puzzle previously! The only addition is the Breakfast Buffet. But, this is not mentioned in the menu card.

We quickly ordered Spicy Potato Wedges, Garlic Bread with Cheese, Black Current American Soda Pop, Lemon American Soda Pop and Green Apple European Soda. Since I knew the service is a little slow here, we made sure to inform the waiters that we need our food as quickly as possible.
Our food was served after 20 – 25mins and each one was something that could be relished till the last bite and the last sip. Infact, something that will leave you craving for more! They’d served 2 huge pieces of garlic breads leaving it to us to make the partition amongst the 3 of us. The potato wedges was a clear hit. The black current and the lemon soda pop was the most loved and green apple soda took a little while to develop the taste for it. Or may be it wasn’t mixed well in the beginning.

Looking at a few hot chics there, my friend got into the cranky mood and ordered a Corn Bomb and we ordered Spinach and Corn Lasagna. Corn Bomb was delicious and spicy and the chilly mayonnaise along with it was even better. We ordered another cup of the mayonnaise just to lick it though we’d no more corn bombs left. The Lasagna was good and filled with cheese. I can still think of the taste of those mentioned above, visualize and drool over it as I write about it.

To end with the meal, we ordered a coke and Arabian Delight – combination of rum and raisin and fig and honey ice-cream. By the time, we ended our meal and started to move out, it was pouring cats and dogs. We occupied one of the tables in the portico and started playing a few games there. There was a board of chalk on all the tables available. What we did here was the most funniest thing of the day and I can never forget Boca Grande for giving us such a memorable experience to take back home.

The total damage for the 3 of us was around 800 bucks including the service charges.

Breakfast at Boca

Been to Boca quite a few times but, never had a chance to go for the breakfast buffet, so, we decided to try it out on Sunday. Since, I am lazy and hate to get up early on weekends but, I convinced myself to go for it this Sunday. The buffet spread consisted of:
1. 3 kinds of breads (plain/masala/brown)
2. Plain crossaint
3. Butter/Jam/Sauces/Choco syrup
4. 2 types of cereals and milk
5. 2 kinds of juices (orange and mixed)
6. Omlette Station which was pretty exciting as it has a lot of assortments.
7. Mixed Fruit Palate
8. Sausages and Chicken ham
9. Baked Beans
10. Baked Mixed Veg
11, Mashed Potatoes
12. Muffins
13. Coffee/Tea (Cappucino,Latte,Filter)

I tried everything, ofcourse :) my fav were the Mixed Veg Cheese Omlette, Sausages and muffins. The muffins were yum. The buffet is for Rs.175/head exclusive of taxes. The only problem we had was the heat as the buffet spread is on the first floor which is in open.

Its An Fantistic Place....

This place caught my eye the previous day when I was heading for dinner in koramangala. Next day, a colleague also spoke about his experience here.
This was enough and I could not wait longer to go there.
Upon entering you feel like ur walking into ur own house...its comfortable n casual (n it IS part of a house!). They have a wide variety of ambiences thanks to the indoor, outdoor, upstairs, open air seating, couches, benches, etc.
Boca Grande is made up in a house converted to an eat out. You could park your bikes / cars in the vacant site next to it.
The portico nicely designed is completely used for the dining purpose.
When you enter, on the left hand side, neatly placed tables on the pebbles would be found with a small waterfall towards the wall. There are a few more tables placed in front of the entrance.
They have used a black stone slab for the tables placed here. As you go in, you would find a huge hall ahead with the ice cream, salad counter placed on the right hand side. Take a few steps to the mezzanine floor to find the dining area...
One would find the kitchen with a semi transparent door - the idea is to let the visitors have a sneak peek into the kitchen and know whats going on there.
Next to it is a stair way which takes you to the first floor lounge where the chic and trendy couches and the big flat screen TVs are found and one would find people who are leisurely spending time here, feeling @ home, comfortable leaning on the sofa and resting their legs on the table.
There’s also a space for shopping :) you find designer clothes to artifacts to the feng shui stuffs for sale!!
Welcome to Boca Grande!! I am sure with the kind of service offerings they have, my kinda people would barge in more frequently.
Boca Grande which means “Big Mouth” in Spanish and Italian, they call themselves a lounge pad and a place to meet, greet and most definitely eat. It’s a restaurant, café, dessert bar and ice cream bar..
Apart from the standard coffee/tea, they also serve some pastas, burgers, shakes and cakes.
My friend and I opted to sit in the table had a piece of chalk in it. Though tried to figure out why that was there initially, we realized, it was for us to use it to play games using the table slab as the board!! Oh yes! They offer multiple games… from board games to others at no extra cost.
I could also notice a number of quirky statements on their walls which definitely attracts the attention. Now, coming to the substance – the food, let me start with the menu card. It came in a big paper bag and was like a jigsaw puzzle. Different cards for desserts, ice creams, pizzas, salads, pastas, drinks etc.. Each card had segregations - Herbigorge (Veg) and Omnigorge (Non-veg).

We ordered the American soda pop It was served in a huge glass and wish I had more. Just loved it.
The Corn Bomb spicy was the best I have ever tasted till date. Pizza comes in one standard size (medium). This one is definitely something that needs a mention here. Made of thin crust and crispy to taste. A Must try!!
The sandwich and salads are also very good and worth the price. My friend recommended to try out their burger which I am yet to do as I feel to guilty to eat a burger!! :)
We very badly wanted to try Oooozy Goooozy which is their speciality. Thanks to the waiters who informed us that it would take atleast 30 minutes to prepare as its baked fresh. Next time, I’d make sure I order it in prior and enjoy what I am craving for.
Finally, we came to an end and relished the Rum
Overall our experience Boca was amazing and we loved the place.
I’d definitely recommend this place for all those who are wanting to have a different experience, leisurely spend time, play games, enjoy the food from breakfast to dinner with lip smacking drinks (FYI: Alcohol is not served here)
It’s a place not just to have food, but definitely enjoy and take back the experience along and come back for more
Thanks to all the staff who made us happy..
A biiiig thumbs up for Boca Grande!!

Service : Good
Place : Cool
Ambience : Super Cool
Food : Super Duper
Price : Worth All the Above

Cool Place to hangout

My experience at Boca Grande was very adventourous. My colleague and I had been planning to go out and eat on Friday during our office lunch hour :) We finaly decided on Boca Grande which was suggested by one of them as the best place.

We were very excited of our outing. We reached the place and fell in love with it instantly. Its a villa converted into an eat out and its got seating in lawn, ground floor and first floor too. We decided to sit on first floor and enjoy the weather. The place has a lot of board games like Scrabble, Pictionary, etc. One of my friend ordered lemon tea, I ordered Eurpoeam Soda which I didn't enjoy much. We jumped to main course. One of my friend ordered Rissoto, I ordered a pasta ariabiatta and one of them ordered cottage cheese lasagne. We loved our the food we ordered and it all tasted yummmm. We were too full to try out the desserts. There were a bunch of girls sitting next to us they left and came back in a while saying no autos. We wondered what happened and realised that was the day when Bangalore had 6 serial blasts. We didnt knw what to do. People kept taking names of areas and we just wondered what is a safe place! We called our husbands and they told us to stay where we were and they would come to pick us up when everything settles down. We sat in the restaurant and passed our time watching news and playing the board games. We were a lil hungry by evening and we ordered orange cheese cake which was yummmm..

Overall our experience Boca was amazing and we loved the place. I have been to the place thrice and loved it everytime. The sandwich and salads are also very good and worth the price. My friend recommended to try out their burger which I am yet to do as I feel to guilty to eat a burger!! :)

Christmas Nightmare

This was not the first time we went to Boca Grande..... was the worst experience ever though!!

AMerican Soda pops were good , European soda was a let down .....the starters were ok .....everything tasted the same ....bland i must say .... rissoto & pasta were a let down again the pizzas were a saving grace .... ..

Now comes the Worst part ..SERVICE .....i have never seen such horrible Service ...there are no waiters to take the orders, to serve , etc ...All are inside the kitchen....wonder if they have run out of cooks ....that then explains the food quality :)

The desert that i ordered didnot come at all ........

The waiters are non apologetic ...the restaurant manager too....

It used to be a good place to hang out ...they had games n all ...all that has vanished .... :(

ALso i never knew smoking is allowed in restaurants ....one can smoke here .........when asked they say ...its permitted as per law !!!!

Well .....Horrible experience ...please stay away !!

nothing Grand about Boca Grande

This place is next to my house and i would cross it quite often and everytime I did ... i was attacted by its billboard .. and I would say to my friends .. we have to try this place..
Last night finally was the fateful night when i stepped into Boca Grande..
For starters we ordered some hash potato and mix veg platter.. which was good.. but it was after this that the horror story started..
We had to ask for spoon and plates maybe bcoz it isnt mentioned as the job description of the waiters there.
Then came the drinks and the shakes... AWFUL... i must have ordered a plain cold coffee in hundereds of places all these years .. and I had never found any place (till yest) who could screw a simple thing like that royally..
Another one had a crackling shake and 3 of us couldnt figure out anything crackling about that.

For the main course, i thot i'd go with pasta (just to be on the safe side) but felt as if they are trying to win some "WORST FOOD EVER" competiton the moment I put some in my mouth..
One mushroom dish tasted as if someone was trying to poison us.. My frens told me that was the worst expression they had seen on my face while I was trying to gulp the mushroom with some plain water..

Service was bad... there was a time we thought that we would get dinner by breakfast time..

So much for trying out a new place...
Huh.. we were so disgusted by the end of it .. that our only revenge was no tip.. LOL

Nice place to hang out

Although this place is bang on the main road in front of Bethany High School, it seems a world away once you step inside. A place far better than any CCD or Barista, and where the cost of the fares are also a touch lower than any of the other coffee shops, this place actually has a nice look and feel to it inside.

Apart from the standard coffee/tea, they also serve some pastas, burgers, shakes and cakes. The biggest drawback (and this really is an issue with my friends and me) is that kids (school) are allowed to make a racket enough to wake the dead and get away with it. There was a group of 16 yr olds celebrating their friend's birthday, and apart from a loud raucous rendition of 'happy birthday to you', they also had a session of 'birthday bums'...things that I as a third party person simply wouldn't want to even witness. So much for the ambiance there, which just popped (along with my ear drums)! but otherwise, this is a very nice place to meet up with friends and 'hang out' I guess (since there aren't too many other things to do in Bangalore).

"Must try..."

We came across this place accidentally n now we're hooked...We drove down from Forum onto 100 ft road looking for Mocha's but spotted a very nice-looking, well-lit loungy kinda place...you guessed it, Boca Grande!

Upon entering you feel like ur walking into ur own house...its comfortable n casual (n it IS part of a house!). They have a wide variety of ambiences thanks to the indoor, outdoor, upstairs, open air seating, couches, benches, etc. Very casual laidback atmosphere (the service is a little laidback too, unfortunately).

Getting down to the nitty gritties...theres an astounding variety of food and drink...quite a treat for the eyes..We began with a Toblerone shake (Rs.80 and too milky to our liking) and a hearty black coffee (Rs.25)...The number of speciality drinks they have is amazing...Oreo shake, Kit Kat shake, the whole nine yards...

We ordered the Boca Grande Special Fries to start with (Rs.60)...it comes with two types of dip...covered in warm gooey cheese..heaven.

It was quite a challenge to decide on a main course...everything was on our "have-to-try" list...We finally settled on the spinach and corn lasagne (Rs.120) that was served with garlic bread and had the creamiest tomato-based sauce...the next thing was a penne veggie pasta that lets u choose ur own dressing...it was light but filling...9.5/10...

Thers a host of subs and sandwiches and burgers and pizza...and a surprisingly true to original italian side of the menu...

Go here for the excellent variety, total value for money (meal for 2 including dessert Rs.450+) and relaxed atmosphere...

For all the Big Mouths... Here's Boca Grande

Boca Grande which means “Big Mouth” in Spanish and Italian, they call themselves a lounge pad and a place to meet, greet and most definitely eat. It’s a restaurant, café, dessert bar and ice cream bar..
This is a joint venture between Java City and Flavors and is completely wi-fi enabled and an added advantage for our techies in Bangalore.

My friend and I opted to sit in the portico. The ash tray on the table had a piece of chalk in it. Though tried to figure out why that was there initially, we realized, it was for us to use it to play games using the table slab as the board!! Oh yes! Look out for some live music from the famous bands and the amateur college bands, merchandising (Mugs and T-Shirts) and the Breakfast menu soon.

For the 2 of us, the bill was around 400 plus.
I’d definitely recommend this place for all those who are wanting to have a different experience, leisurely spend time, play games, enjoy the food from breakfast to dinner with lip smacking drinks (FYI: Alcohol is not served here)
It’s a place not just to have food, but definitely enjoy and take back the experience along and come back for more
A biiiig thumbs up for Boca Grande!!
