I have been to Café Max twice with the same friend. The place is really nice with a terrace seating which gives people a view of the surroundings (provided you are lucky enough to get a window seat). The menu is good with a wide variety of food and drinks and there are always daily specials chalked on the black board. The ambience is pleasant, with a fresh breeze, plenty of space between the tables and a view (if you are at the windows). Service is good and the waiter (we had the same waiter on both occasions) unfailingly polite. Service is not very fast however. It is possible that the place being terribly crowded on a weekend at lunch time has something to do with this since there are very few waiters. The food is really nice and I have always enjoyed whatever I have ordered. My friend too seemed to enjoy her orders on both occasions. The desserts are scrumptious if rather expensive. We ordered one on our first visit here and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The second time, we were a bit more reluctant owing to the huge price tag attached to each dessert. They are definitely worth the price though. The crowd is quite nice - a mix of locals, NRI's and foreigners. This is a great place to go, with family, with friends or even alone as you can always sit quietly and read a book or just gaze out of a window and watch the world go by. Definitely a place which I would recommend and which I intend to return to many more times, including for the continental breakfast which I am longing to try.
A refreshingly different experience
We were really tired of North Indian joints and wished to go to a different place for our anniversary. That's when we chanced upon a review of Cafe Max and decided to try it out. We arrived there for lunch and found the ambience very different, on a roof top terrace and designed very well. Though we are pure vegetarians , we stil found a reasonably good choice of starters and main course. We really liked all the food that we had and also enjoyed the peace and quiet there. For a good change I would recommend these even for vegetarians.
Perfect Place For A Lazy Weekend Lunch
Love the relaxed, bright & airy ambience. Menu is a tad lopsided towards non-vegetarians (I am not complaining).Quality of food has been excellent each time I have visited - esp. love the Spanish Style Crusted Fish.
P.S. - Once saw Shekhar Kapur having lunch here :)
Terrace Cafe !
I particularly loved the ambience and the warm nature of the owner who guided us very well throgh the dessert box !! :)
We had a starter and one main along with a sandwich plus coffee...All of it tasted very European ,the flavours were distinct and added to the taste .. They serve coffee along with one cookie which was real tasty and a great gesture !!
I absolutely loved their Carrot Cake which was just right with the texture and softness and tasted yummy too ... I see myself heading here often in the future !! :)
Perfect for long heavy breakfast sometime!
Had a quick lunch at this cafe, right above the max mueller bhavan on CMH road. Food was delightful. Had a non veg dish with a slightly complicated name, but in short had pork sausage ( really fat & juicy!) + mashed potato + sauteed red cabbage. Heavy but nice! We also ordered egg salad & omlete. Which were quite fresh & yummy as well.
The ambience is simple & lovely. Menu is quite extensive, except that it had more of non vegetarian items than vegetarian which can be disappointing. I mean i usually judge a restro's menu by the choice they provide to vegetarians! Dont know why though. Also note that cafe max slightly on the expensive side & that they offer only cash payment !
But great neverthless. Would def go back for a large long sunday breakfast :)
A quiet, open-air cafe
It is located on the 3rd floor of the Max Mueller Bhavan and I was surprised to find a nice, breezy and quiet cafe.
I had only a non-vegetarian soup, which is about Rs 120, and was fresh though it is not a place to look for gourmet stuff. And it has great-looking desserts!
