Something Different

Was actually going to go to a normal restaurant until I saw the board of this restaurant high up in the air. Being a vivid foodie, the food experience here was a delight!

I love spicy food. And nothing describes spicy food like Andhra cuisine. Its something different. Plus this place doesn't disappoint on giving the proper Andhra experience. Proper spicy food with the proper Andhra touch. And the desserts are exquisite. All in all, amazing. I'd certainly refer this place!

Worth the ride!

This place just proves that all good things happen in a land far, far away! Located almost near the airport, the travel to this place itself is bound to cause a hole in your pocket. But you will be well advised to still make the trip because the food is to die for!

Now there are many restaurants in town that claim to be practitioners of the fiery Andhra cuisine. But, believe you me, no one quite does it like Coringa. It takes all that we thought of Andhra cuisine, spins it on its head, nonchalantly chucks it out of the window and then goes on to offer a refreshing perspective.

The quality of their meats and their seafood deserves a special mention. And also the fact that they make it a point to infuse the food with more flavours than just spice. Choose anything from the menu and you'll be good too go. The place serves only wine which is a rather unusual drink to pair with Andhra cuisine, and all though we didn't try it, you might want to give it a try. Don't miss this place for the world! A definite must!

Best Seafood place in Town..

Agreed that Coringa is off the city limits and not many are crazy enough to drive the distance for food but this one is a true gem and totally worth the travel. Anyways, we land there as part of a contest and were welcomed very warmly by the Managing partner. Its a terrace restaurant and we were glad that we had chosen a relatively cooler day for our lunch there. It was breezy and pleasant. The menu had a huge variety of fish, chicken and mutton items with their Telegu names on it, thankfully all the items were explained in English so it was easier for us to order...We ordered fried seer and pomfret and chicken kebabs for starters along with butter milk. The fish was fresh and yummy...and we just fell in love with the chicken kebabs. Main course was steamed rice, green chilli prawns, mutton curry and chicken biryani. Though I was warned before hand by the waiter regarding the heat quotient in the prawn dish but I still went ahead and ordered it...it tasted absolutely delicious but the sting was too much for even a seasoned 'spice crazy' foodie like me, so had to leave it mid way. The Muttton gravy was spicy and yummy and so was the Biryani. The Biryani in fact had very different flavours from a regular Andhra Biryani served at Nandhini or Nagarjuna. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, in fact me and my colleague still reminisce this lunch often and have decided to pay another visit soon. Must visit for all food lovers in Bangalore.

YUM!

It was a Saturday and I traveled all the way from Jayanagar to check out this place. Boy, am I glad I did it! I reached the place around 4.00 PM (when the restaurant is supposedly closed) and I find 2 tables occupied and the staff being as helpful as ever! I was later told that nobody has ever been sent off when they came looking for food -- in my book, full marks just for this attitude.
Now the food-- If you really like spicy Andhra food, you have come to the right place. My fav was the chilly chicken. Do not confuse this with the "normal" chilly chicken you will find in most places. This is different , very tasty and spicy. I also liked the Fish Pulusu . I would think this restaurant specializes in some really out of the way foods-- like the dishes made of the Banana Stem and Flower. Having been born and brought up in Bangalore, I cannot think of any other restaurant that serves these foods on a regular basis. My Mother does this really well and I felt the taste was as close at it could get to home food.
All in All it was a trip well worth it and I would do this again. My Suggestion-- Don't miss this place. Its well worth your time!

Very good place.

We learned about this place in burrp and visited them yesterday. Its around 20 Km from Indira Nagar. The drive was worth it. Its about a km bang on the airport road from Yelahanka deviation. We had rice, fish pulusu, mutton in drumstick and keema biriyani. The food was awesome. Nothing like you would taste in any of the other andhra restaurants. The restaurant is @ rooftop above Coffee day.

Distinctive Andhra Cuisine

I was recently there on my trip to the airport. Being a vegetarian my expectations were slightly subdued in a restaurant offering both Veg & Non Veg Andhra Cuisine. However being a lover of good food, I ventured to choose authentic Andhra dishes like Arati Davva Koora ( Banana stem steamed and cooked in mild seasoning ) and Gongura Pappu with Ghee Rice. Coringa far exceeded my expectations.

The interiors with the unusual theme of a large tunnel is the first thing you notice when you enter this place. The seating does not look crowded and pocket friendly prices make it an overall good experience. I strongly recommend Coringa to all those who love food not just Andhra Cuisine. I Plan to go back this weekend.

Love the concept of getting to eat rare andra dishes, Corigna is a very unique restaurant unlike those who serve run on the mill foods....

Food for Foodies only at Coringa

We go to Coringa regularly. You find very few places in Bangalore where you get authentic Andhra sea food and I would say Coringa is best among them. Fish fry, prawns curry and chilli prawns are just yum….. Different kinds of Pakoda’s served with Chutney and the rasam are simply mouth watering.. We relish the food served here and would love to visit again and again. I would recommend this place to everyone.. do not miss this place when you travel to or from airport… veggies too have many choices.. don't miss this place..

Traditional Coastal Andhra has moved to Bangalore

Was searching for something different to try this weekend, and spotted Coringa on Burrp. So the wife and I decided to hit the place as it promised traditional Andhra food, very unlike the dishes you are served at the Nandhinis, the Bhaginis, and the Bheemas.

Well, what a great decision it was we made last evening. Everything was as promised. The food was the best Andhra food I've ever eaten. It reminded my wife of the food her mother makes (yes, she's from that region in AP). And I was pleasantly surprised that this non-assuming place had it in itself to hit it off.

The items on the menu are not what you see in restaurants that claim to be "Andhra". This is the real deal. There's a good number of veg and non-veg dishes to choose from, so non one will go home disappointed about the items on the menu. The place is clean, and in an open air setting. The location, although a bit far for South Bangaloreans, is still worth visiting, just to taste the real Andhra. It's on NH 7, just after the road forks off at Jakkur towards the International Airport. You pass under a railway bridge, and you can see it on your left.

All said and done, we were really happy that an Andhra restaurant as authentic as it can get, has opened in Bangalore, and quite near where I stay. :-) I will be going there many more times and try every item on their menu one by one.

Heck, I've already planned to take my parents there pretty soon. And friends will follow.

Good job, you guys running the place. Just keep it up.

And oh, did I mention the service? It was great too!

unique veg and non veg interior Andhra food

I was informed that coringa is a mangrove near kakinada, in Andhra.

Like the unique name , they also seem to have a unique spread of veg and non-veg coastal food equally.

Some of their stuff is like eating at home 50 years back, as what your granny would have made!! It is not like the normal Andhra style restaurants, nor it is a north Indian place . it has beautiful ambiance.
i recommend anyone to go and check out the experience !!! it's great !!!

Thank you for the kind words Akshar. Since the last you probably visited here, we have added a whole new range of items to the menu. Arati Davva Koora ( Banana Stem ), Chama Dumpa Vepudu ( Arbi ), Chinta Chiguru Mutton and Tapeswaram Kaja just to name a few. We will make every effort to keep it the way granny cooked :)
