Stay Away From This Place And Save Your Money
We went there as a group of around 10. The service was so slow that we even forgot what we had ordered when the food came! The waiters put up frowns on their faces as if they're doing you a favour by serving food to you. The food isn't great either. We didn't order any desserts because we thought it would be served after an hour (yes it's that slow!) And as if all this wasn't enough, the waiters demanded a tip! This is one of the worst experiences in dining for all of us until now. Even the pani puri wala is more courteous than these goddamn waiters.
Wonder Why This Place Is Still Open..
Worst experience ever.
1. The food is average, indian stuff is bland and spice less.
2. You have to wait forever.
3. The waiters don't smile, rather they frown.
4. Too expensive for the food quality and the ambiance and the service.
5. THE WAITER EXPLICITLY DEMANDED FOR TIP AND PUT ON A FROWN FACE !!!!!!
Bland and Taseless
We had a office lunch and we planned to use Desmond's as it was near also we need to try different restaurants.... we were a group of 10 and all of us are of the option that "We should NOT VISIT again".
Food is very Bland (without any taste or flavor) .. we ordered for quick lunch option and were provided with ONE chicken dish which was just a cooked chicken with no taste or flavor.
Then we ordered a "Chicken Haralli Kabbab" which was not cooked / fried, hence had to come back in very unhappy TUMMY.
Insects in my food
The restaurant was recommended to me as an alternative to empire as a late night dinner option. My first experience was somewhat ok with the food being average but their baked cheesecake was a big draw because it was served warm and i found it absolutely delicious. With a minimalistic interior and basic functional type of seating i thought the place was ok but being close to home on lavelle road it was a huge convenience.
I happened to revisit this place a few days later this time for a parcel order and it went from bad to worse. First the boneless butter chicken was horrible with nothing but pieces of spare parts from the chicken. I mean peaces of heart, fat, cartilage and some other shreds but no real meat. Even the gravy and spices were of substandard quality. After making my way through it with great difficulty i was looking forward to the cheese cake.
Two bites in and i threw up because i found a cockroach leg stuck in it. Now my experience tells me that food though sad in the resturant gets worse for a parcel order. Weather they peddle substandard foods late at night especially to the unwary take away customer is beyond me, i just know i will not go back there again.
Pros: - Open late at night
- serves a good cheese cake
Cons: - Quality of meat and ingredients is very low
- Found insect parts in my food (yuck!!)
value for money and great service
I visited this place a few weeks back and was treated like royalty upon entering. Friendly and warm service is the first thing u notice with personal interest from the owner. we ordered the chicken kiev and the chicken sizzler both of which were done to perfection. The garlic bread is yummy. We were stuffed but the desserts looked to good to resist so we shared the baked cheesecake which was world class. All in all an awesome place..A must visit...
Excellent service, excellent food
Have been visiting Desmonds restaurant( Lavelle road) for a little over 3 years and have always been delighted by their food whether it be a continental fish dish, chicken, sizzler and of course their excellent desserts esp the baked cheesecake ,their blueberry cheesecake, their yummy goooey fudgy chocolate brownies and their awesome apple pie.
ALways have had excellent service with Desmond himself always coming and checking if everything is OK.
A must visit with company or just by yourself!
GOOD MULTICUISINE RESTAURANT
I had taken few visitors from abroad for dinner on 17/2/2008 and everyone was quite pleased with the quality of food. The restaurant had the perfect balance of continental and Indian food that could address the palates of different segments. In addition, the balance of spice(hot) was commendable especially to those foreigners who could not handle spicy food (hot).
It is a smoking restaurant and as a result it makes the whole place starve for good air circulation. It could be a good idea to ban smoking in the restaurant which could largely benefit the passive smokers that includes good number of kids who accompany their parents/families.
Great food, great VFM
Located near the Chancery Hotel on Lavelle Rd, Desmond's was a hot favorite for my entire group at Microsoft. The a la carte has delicious specials and I'd recommend the karela or paneer here any day - but the best deal here is the corporate lunch @ Rs.99 on weekdays.
Although a lot of restaurants have this option, Desmond's serves the best mix of quality+quantity - 2 veggies, 1 non-veg item, Indian bread basket, rice and dal, salad/raita and house ice-cream!
The owner always ensures you're being taken care of, humbly brings you some Indian bread replenishments sometimes and is very well known in the social circle.
All this makes this restaurant one my top picks in Bangalore!
