In spite of warning from a friend about the uncooked mutton at Don't Tell Mama, I once landed up at the place. I ain't sure about all the floors but the terrace seating is really good. Nice and breezy, with (not so great) bamboo interiors and a view of the traffic whizzing by the Outer Ring Road (and of course the open naala running parallel to it)- A good place to kick back and relax. I didn't dare eat anything after my friends got a nasty tummy upset from the food at DTM. But yeah, I recommend this place for anyone in and around HSR who don't want to travel too much and have a relaxing no-frills evening with a beer.
The food sucked. They did not have any salad. The ambiance was too shady for a female. And where we were seated, we could hear two songs; one from the club part and one Indian song. How annoying! Everything about it was not at all pleasant. I wouldn't go there again. Furthermore, I got an upset tummy after that. So I guess this place is only good for people who want to drink and party at the club.
if i have to rate party places in bangalore...this will come on top..
we went there on rooftop n simply loved this place...they have a dance floor n DJ is one of the best i've ever experienced. nice ambience but service is really slow.
food was good but drinks were just ok...they dont have much varities.
go to this place if you are going with a group which can drink n dance...
Place with a good location. Very crappy compared to other lounges. Like a roof top dhaba.. Worse is the name - "Don' Tell Mama' .. u just cant tell ppl u went to a place named that. The service is very slow..
If u want a rooftop restaurant experience go there. if u are looking for an actual lounge experience, please dont.
Cool place to chill out
DTM is a new lounge that has opened up in HSR layout on the ring rd, opp Dhaba restaurant (the one in HSR, not Marathahalli). So from a location stand point, its a very convenient spot for south Bangaloreans.
is an open air place located on the 5th floor. They have a restaurant on the gnd floor with hotel rooms on the other floors. The open air seating is the real attraction to this place. The seating is very limited and the balcony seating is sought out place since it gives a good view and some excellent fresh air.
The drinks are the usual suspects. I found their Tequila Sunrise and Margarita to be quite good. They only serve starters and I found their servings to be quite decent. Avoid Peanit Masala though - its not too great.
Service can be slow esp on weekends and although they have staff, they are not able to manage. The music...well, what music?? They do have an enclosed dance floor but it is perpetually deserted.
The price is their biggest drawback. For a HSR layout location, they are charging quite a premium for their drinks. Cocktails are all in the range of Rs 350/- and a round of Old Monk costs more than a round of Blenders Pride. Funny that, eh?? Its at par with other places in the city.
The crowd is not the party hopper crowd u see in the chic joints in the city. It seems like ppl just dropped in on their way home from grocery shopping ! So why would one go to a place where the prices are steep and the place doesnt rock?
Well, for one its one of limited options in south Bangalore. Two, its a non pretentious place where I have seen people come in shorts, track bottoms, grocery bags...all things you would never associate with a place which calls itself a lounge bar. But that is why you can go with some close friends on a Fri night after work, have a couple of beers, chat and relax. You dont have to dress up and act cool. If you want to do that, there is no dearth of choices in the city. What we lack is a place like this, which gives you a little premium ambience, choice of drinks and a good, quiet place where u can drop in for a drink even at a late hour (by Bangalore standards that would be 10-10:30 pm). So I dont mind the premium on the price.
They have a few opportunities to do better. They can definitely improve the service & the music. The restaurant downstairs serves only buffet dinner at 350 bucks a head. At 11 pm, you need is a quick bite. They can create options for DTM customers, who otherwise head to Koramangala for dinner.
The 4 star rating is for the ambience and for not being a loud, noisy and crowded place.
Had been to this place last saturday with husband and couple of frinds to watch the football match between germany and argentina. There was some wedding goin on in the ground floor hence the place was crowded. We could not get into the lift as it was too crowded hence we decided to take the stairs to 5th floor. After the trek to 5th floor, i found the place quite pleasant.. the ambience is good but unfortunately, the TV was not workin hence the whole purpose of goin there was waste. Just tried tomato juice with some french freis which were pretty good.. friends tried some chicken starter which they found it good too... i found it very less crowded for a saturday evening. Hence can just go there if u wanna relax and take some time out of your hectic schedule
