We had been to Kamat Swad with great expectation to celebrate Grand daughter's birthday.. But came out highly disappointed after spending big amount. Food was average and service was sloppy and slow. I have been to various branches of Kamat Restaurants at various places in Bangalore for years, but never had this experience. It is time that the management should look into the quality of their preparations and service.
Hotel Kamat, Swad
The peace and the space on the first floor on working days is good. The cleaning of the table and taking away of used food plates is not quick and good.
I had to call him to take the plates. The boy was carrying a soggy dirty piece of cloth and cleaned the table in very bad manner. What he infact was smear the chutney on the table all over.
The lady at the counter on the ground floor was discourteous and indifferent. There are urinals just outside the connecting door and the foul smell spreads into cooking and eating area. There is a gutter though covered right at the entrance to the stair case and the urinals.
The management needs to quickly remedy the above unhygienic conditions.
I have eaten here multiple times and th food is average like all other restaurants nearby. BUT THE MANNERS HERE IS HORRIBLE
TWICE I WAS TOLD ' NO FOOD, GO' SINCE I DINT HAVE CORRECT CHANGE, THAT TOO IN A TONE LIKE I WENT TO BEG FOR FREE FOOD.
I should not have gone a second time when it happened the first time, but I thought that its after all the billing person and that she might have been on a bad mood that day. BUT HAPPENED AGAIN.
REALLY DOES'NT MATTER HOW THE FOOD IS , I BETTER GO TO A PLACE WHERE I'M TREATED BETTER THAN THIS
Yummy - Yani
had been there for dinner yesterday and ordered for veg hyderabadi biryani. Not authentic but was yummylicious. so much so that ordered it again and almost over ate . Had asked them to make it spicy and spicy as hell it was. The next time around had requested to not include broccoli and potatoes since taste and size werent good respectivelly. For dessert, ordered basundi. will never make that mistake again. was far from the normal basundi n did not taste good at all.
Bad service, food strictly ok!
P.S. - I should have read the reviews here to know about North Karnataka meals..whatever that is!
Pass this place almost everyday but somehow never appealed to try it out even if its big. I went once to have some kind of a juice and the service and overall attitude was so lazy by the staff, I didnt feel like going again!
But this time there was a lot of crowd for dinner, so decided to check out!
Menu is quite big and prices quite reasonable in my view.
What we ordered -
1 South Indian Thali
1 Rava Onion Masala
2 Cold Coffee
Total tab - 202 rs.(no tip as the service was bad)
Idly came first, chutney was the worst ever I have ever had! Being a south indian place, cant imagine they can mess up the chutney so bad!! Sambhar was good and ordered extra helping to gulp down my idly and dosa.
My friend ordered Thali, which was quite nice but nothing great!
Cold-coffee was good.
Service was bad, as there were just 2 waiters handling around 20 tables, even though just 5 were full..more waiters are required.
I am not very impressed with this, but darshini places exists for this kind of food with much better service!
Fantastic North Karnataka meals!
No pizza or pasta or roti or butter chicken can satisfy a truly South Indian palate like good South Indian 'meals'! And the North Karnataka meals pack quite the punch! I am not sure about the authenticity, but the taste is simply delicious and fills the heart and the stomach. I am a frequent visitor here and I drag all my non-believer friends to this place and every one of them has left satisfied and feeling super good! Give this a try for sure!
Decent north Kar meals
Had been asking(nagging) the owner to start the North Karnataka meals soon. He starts just when I had to been in Hyderabad for 3 months. Tried it immediately on return. The Jolad roti oota (meals) is pretty decent. @ 120 for a regular it is quite a steal. The special(havent tried) gets you holige, iceream and mirchi bajji.(dunno the cost). The food is not 100% authentic but is close. The food is toned down in terms of spicy and kadakness :) of the roti. The sambar (saaru) though was very typical and tasted great.
@Staff:: courteous but not that efficient.
@decor: nice..thumbs up for the glass paned windows which gives you a nice view and the traffic muted.....
@prices: apt for kormangala
@roti...make them kadak and cook them a bit. 2/5
@ pallya(kaal, yennggai,kosambri,) and sambar 4/5
@majiige,zunkad wada,chutni pudi...3.5/5
GIve it try .......it goog
Nice place to lunch
Kamat was the go-to in the 90s for a good South indian meal and the new one opened at Koramangala is no different.
Excellent South Indian thali which is the right thing for a hearty lunch. The curries taste great the the buttermilk is very refreshing.
The sweet beeda (paan) given at the end provides the right parting touch.
The service was good the first time we went but wasn't great the second time round. The waiters kept getting confused between the special/regular thalis and we had to correct them quite a bit.
But the overall experience is good.
Good Veg Meaks
Kamat Swad serves good home-like veg thali meals in the afternoon. A banana leaf is spread on the plate and a normal thali inclues rice, two chapatis, sambar, rasam, 1 dry sabzi, 1 curry, papad and pickle. Both service area and self-service is available.
Overall good experience and nice ambience, would love to go back again.
