Good...Amazing Sea food.

Good - nice place, really good sea food. Prawn with butter garlic sauce is good. I didn't have crab, but the table next to me was really digging into crabs :)

Bad - table was not cleaned, I was chasing flies on my table. :(

Nice place for an occasional get together or an important event. Not for frequent visits.

Prawn biryani, Seer fish tawa fry and lady fish, Mangalore gassy gravy was awesome.
Would visit here again.
Costly but worth to have it here.
It would cost Rs 1500 + for two.

Soul Food

Wanted to try out Mahesh Lunch Home since long, and finally made it today. To begin with, the service is a delight, right from giving your car to the valet and collecting it back, everything speaks of personalized service. The staff indulge you like a guest at home and that is the best part.

The food is out of the world. Unfortunately, could not try their crab or lobster specialty due to my allergy, but the reaction from the other diners, did confirm that those must have been great. The Captain brings you lobster or crab that you ordered for, to check the size and freshness, and that is cooked for you.

Mahesh Lunch Home, know their fish, and they are cooked just right. The fish is so fresh, you don't get a whiff of smell. Though slightly on the expensive side, they are worth the money.

Drinks are the only let down - the bar can't mix great cocktails, cocktails are passable. Other than that a wonderful experience, can't wait to go back.

STEAM SEAFOOD FESTIVAL

I am eating at Mahesh once every 2-3 weeks since they opened earlier this year. Was delighted yesterday as the steam seafood festival is going on. Tried the dimsums, prawns siew mai and crab claw dumplings. Too good. very ideally located and great ambience. Simply superb!

Something Fishy!

I was told about this place by a friend,whose parents used to frequent this restaurant in Mumbai many years ago for their prawn biriyani. Located on residency road, it can be a little hard to find since it is hidden by the flyover. However, ask around a bit with a little walking and it shouldn't be too hard to find. So, I went here with my friend for the first time a few months ago and we had to try the prawn biriyani. This particular variation of biryani brings out the tender and delicate flavour of shrimp. Unlike other kinds of biryanis, it is quicker to prepare and does not require long hours of complex marinating procedures. It is usually served with a side of baingan masaledar. The biriyani was perfectly spiced, although it did make my wallet hollow. From then on, I've come a few times mostly with family out of fear of being broke for the rest of the month. The must-haves here are:
1. Roasted basa fish (Rs.350) : This fish is native to the Mekong River delta in Vietnam. It is served as a fillet, and roasted to perfection.
2. Prawns ghee roast (Rs.650) : You can opt for tiger prawns or go with the regular ones. Both are great! The masala is good, but definitely not a patch on Shetty lunch home's masala in Kundapur or Abhiman's version of the same in Mangalore. Also, I have to stop short of saying that it is the best masala in Bangalore, as Unicorn does a great masala too.
3. Surmai gassi curry with neer dosa (Surmai Gassi : Rs.350, 1 neer dosa : Rs.15) : Surmai aka seer/anjal/arkoli is Indian king mackerel. Gassi has something to do with the "au jus" of rice, it is what gives the curry a distinct flavour. Neer dosa is basically a crepe prepared from rice batter. It is a light dosa. The surmai gassi curry goes exceptionally well with rice also.
4. Solkadhi (Rs.60) : It is made from coconut milk and kokum, known for its digestive properties. The preparation is prepared from liquid extracted from fresh coconut known as coconut milk.The coconut milk so obtained is usually mixed with kokum, a little bit of salt and/or chili-garlic paste is added for taste. I prefer ordering this drink right in the beginning itself, and refilling through my meal.It is slightly spicy and goes very well with the above mentioned dishes.
5. Tender coconut payassam (Rs.120): To make all the spices go down easily, try the coconut payassam. Very light and easy on the palate, along with being ridiculously delicious it is the best way to finish the meal.
I have had the green pepper chilli crab a couple of times, after being strongly suggested to do so and haven't found it worth mentioning. Although, MLH is also known for their crab so feel fry to try another preparation. The staff is very knowledgeable and make it so much easier to get exactly what you want.
The prices are a little exhorbitant as compared to the better and cheaper quality of the same cuisine that you get in Mangalore, and surrounding areas. However, in Bangalore it is definitely one of the best restaurants for sea-food.

Good Experience

My family had decided to head to MLH for dinner on a Sunday night. We ordered the famous garlic prawns based on my uncle's recommendation. He had been to the original outlet in Mumbai. He hoped that they were able to maintain the taste and quality. After tasting the prawn starter, he wasn't fully happy as it apparently wasn't the same as the Mumbai outlet. But this is just his opinion. We ordered crab soup, fish fry and chicken starter. The executive showed us the size of the fish that they had in stock so we could choose the exact one that we wanted. This was a nice touch. The crab fry was yummy. The chicken biryani was greasy beyond my expectation and this was the only let down in an otherwise good experience.

Overall a nice place to visit. Hospitality is excellent. There were more waiters than customers when we visited!

Fresh And Flavourful Seafood

All the food we ordered soups, starters and main course were served hot , had flavour and good service.
Crab soup was excellent and the Prawn Lajjawab in main course was superb.

Recommend going with family , preferably on an empty tummy, to enjoy a good meal!

Best Seafood In Town

Had been craving for seafood for a long time and made a visit to this place on a lazy sunday noon. It was just what we needed. There were good recommendations by the the staff, the service excellent and the food was oh so heavenly. Specially the boneless crab fry starter! Must visit!

Superb sea food

Mahesh Lunch Home was as good as the Mumbai one. The Bombay Duck Fry is a must try. We also like the Basa fish balti, which was a well made tomato based fish curry. The neer dosas were good too. There regular rice was a bit disappointing ~ broken rice rather than the sona masoori or jeera rice that I am used to.

Awesom

Very good food one should try out bombayduck(fish) and prawns pepper garlic it is sea food Mecca. If u are sea food lover den it the best place

No. 1 Seafood restaurant in Bangalore....

I had been to Mahesh with colleagues... Wow... It is so long since I had a very good food like this... Right from soup, starters, main course, dessert everything is classic.
Try the crab soup, ceylon fish curry, Malabar style fish tikka, prawn fried rice, neer dosa and don't forget to order a glass of tender coconut water which is rarely available in restaurants... Very much satisfied with the freshness of seafood, quality and taste. The only thing on the flip side is the exorbitant price they charge for some of the seafood (around Rs.800/- for pomfret dishes).

Service is terrible

Dined at this place on 14 december. Service was horrible. Waiters running around like 'headless chickens' with no idea what to do. Average food.
