Poor Service but Good Quality food

Walked in to the Koramangala restaurant today along with a few friends, the quality and value for money is good (Veg & Non-veg) but the Qty. of Biriyani served was quite lower than anticipated when compared to other places at similar prices. The service standard needs to be improved but until then could order take-away.

Guys Would You Like To Taste Feather Biryani

Yesterday myself and my friend went to Mani's dum biryani to get a parcel. So, we ordered one large Biryani and the cost was almost Rs 300+. And when we started eating the Biryani at home, we found chicken feathers in the Biryani. My friend immediately picked up his phone and made a call. And the response we received was that we need to carry the biryani to the restaurant then they will make an enquiry and we will be given a replacement. But he never stopped here, he send a mail to the manager with the images and they called us for a meeting. And they gave a compliment of 5- 10 members can come and have lunch in the restaurant. Guys, if you would like to taste feather biryani please go to Mani's Dum Biryani

Neighbourhood Gourmet Experience

A great affordable and delectable Biryani. Perfect value for money. Try the combos.

No Where Near Thalassery Biryani !

Reading reviews gave a high expectation, but to tell the truth it is not that great, but there is value for money here at Mani's! The biryani served doesn't taste very special. We get the same thing at different places. Cafe Malabaari next to Madhuloka serves much better biryani but higher the price, lower the quantity when compared to Mani's.

Impressed

I am a biryani lover. Have tried a lot of biryani places in Bangalore.
The only place I used to like was Hyderabad Biriyani in Old Airport road, and used to order to our office from there.

Then I heard of this place from one of my friends. And just went to try out...
And here its... WOW Amazing. And from then this is my place for biryani..
Now on I think I have referred all of my friends and colleagues for this place

However there are a few improvements that can be done.

- For people who want to eat spicy food there should be an option
- There should be more options in mutton biriyani (not only Full)

too good even for veggies

visited here today with my mates.....Veg biriyani here was so so sooooo good,,, i initially thought they will not care about veggies, but I was totally wrong... had been to meghna's before but veg was not at all good.. u are giving a tough competition for them..keep up the same.... waiters are also very very customer friendly..

Really worthless junk food here

the food is crap here.. really if you have a flair for Biryani, i would not recommend you going here and getting disappointed.. i tried for the first time here Chicken Hyderabadi dum biryani .. a large family pack.. took it home... was neatly packed with phone numbers to order again...
1. Food Quantity is too low.
2. Oily orange rice used in biryani thats said to be Hyderabadi.
It should have been long brown golden rice..
3. Rice grains are har.. its not authentic dum biryani.
4.And the Chicken, i got 2 EGGS?, 2 leg pieces, and 4 bones. literally read:BONES.
All i did was eat eggs, leg pieces about 200 gms each, just 3 bites and the piece is done.
5. And the bones, i took from biryani and put it in the container he gave.,
6. And the thing that matters, my weekend was ruined with this crap food..

.. Still dont believe me.. well then force yourself to get disappointed. and thank me later.)

disappointed with the home delivery service

on a hungry evening after reading the reviews at burrp for mani's biryani, we decide to order home delivery, called the number at 7:30, and we knew we wanted the chicken biryani large, and may be a starter or so, not too many options for starters, however i ordered for CB large and a chilly chicken(chinese style), and called back and placed an order for a veg biryani, jus to try it out. so my final order was 1 cb large, i veg biryani and a chilly chicken. 45 mins was the promised delivery time, and the guy arrived by 8 :30, i paid the bill and came rushing inside my house, n pounce onto the food we got, i open the container and i see, no chicken piece but 5 eggs in it, then i realise he has given a large of egg biryani, a large of veg biryani and the chilly chicken was no where to find. very disappointed and called the guy again, and he comes after a while with the right order, and we had to re pack the wrong delivery. it was very incovinient. how ever we were more than satisfied with the food, and definitely to say, the biryanis were both great, flavourful and filling, chilly chicken probably wasnt upto the mark. anyways i suggest they should be more careful while dispatching there orders.

Our sincere apologies for the mix-up. Home Delivery is a strong focus for us and while we are still far-away from the Dominos Pizza level of delivery efficiency, we are working hard to make our processes more efficient. chicken biryani!

Pretty good hyderbadi biryani. The family packs for home delivery come in those stiff plastic containers which is such a pleasant change from the regular foil containers. As far as taste is concerned it is pretty similar to Meghna's and given that it is close by from Meghna's, it might have eaten into its business

Share:

November 30, 2012response from management at manisdumbiryani:

Thanks for your support Anshul. While the plastic containers cost us quite a bit, we made the decision to use plastic containers based on strong customer feedback related to convenience. We currently use food grade, microwaveable plastic containers

Biriyani's at its Best!!

Have been to koramangala 1st block branch and also picked up their biriyani from their pick up point in HSR.

Dishes Explored : Chicken Biriyani, Veg Biriyani, Pepper Chicken

Biriyani's are just so perfect super flavor, very light, moderately spiced. We tried the boneless one, the pieces are limited but very well marinated and spiced up.
Veg Biriyani is the one of the best ones we ever had, though i am non-veg lover, i would prefer Veg.B over Chicken.B at this place :).Rarely find a place who can make wonders with Veg, though they are into non-veg stream!!
Pepper Chicken is just very normal spiced chicken deep fried. Could have been much better..
If your fond of Biriyani's a must try!!

Veggie Biryani ... not blown away !

I was extremely tempted to try the Veggie Biryani here from all the raving reviews Mani's had been receiving.
To be honest, i was not blown away ! The taste was ok , vegetables not many !
Have i had Veg biryani better than this, i do not know BUT the biryani here tastes pretty ordinary !!

Dear Sashni,

Thanks for your feedback. Veg Biryani is a very key product for us and as you have mentioned we have quite a fan following for our Veg Biryani. We sincerely hope that your experience was a one-off one and hopefully your next visit to Mani's will be much better. On the veggies, we consistently got customer feedback that we include too much of veggies - striking this fine balance between the rice and the veggies is a challenge for us as customer preferences vary quite a bit. We now also include grated Paneer in our Veg Birya

September 28, 2012response from management at sashni:

Thanks for this quick response. I agree with u that the customer preferences vary and quite a bit. Personally, i would be delighted to find a lot of veggies, less overbearing masalas and NO paneer ! The gravy could also be toned down on the sour taste. Do u think Customised biryanis is possible ? Thanks

September 29, 2012response from management at manisdumbiryani:

Dear Sashni,

The next time you visit us, just inform the waiter to include more veggies in the Biryani. Removing Paneer will not be possible currently for an individual order at the restaurant as the ingredients are all cooked together. We only use a small quantity of grated paneer and not chunks. On the gravy, we do agree that the sourness from the tamarind may get over-bearing for some customers. We will look into this.
We do customized Biryanis for party orders and are pretty good at this. The most popular customized order is o

Impeccable biryani

I had heard a lot of people say that the biryani at Mani`s was one of the best in Bangalore. So, when a lazy sunday afternoon, found me in the Koramangala area, I decided to put their judgement to test, and paid a visit. From the outside, the place looks pretty ordinary, and a casual passerby could be forgiven for not walking in. But, if it is biryani you crave, then rest assured, you have reached paradise. We ordered the Chicken biryani family pack, and were stunned when this huge dish of simmering hot biryani was placed in front of us. Everything about the biryani was perfect. From the rice used, to the flavouring and undoubtedly the juicy chicken, it was mouth-wateringly delicious. The vegetarians in our group were also found smacking their lips in appreciation. All in all, a perfect place to go with a group of Biryani-loving friends.

Best biriyani i have had till date

We are vegetarians.Almost all hotels we have been to,do not serve a good veg biriyani. While these hotels serve better non-veg biriyani (based on the reviews and word of mouth) It was quite disappointing experience until we tried Mani's biriyani. They are simply the best in the business when it comes to biriyanis. Their veg biriyani is the best we have had till date (No words to mention on Non-Veg biriyani because whoever i know of say it is the best they had) Thank you sir. We wish to see more happy customers like us (I know atleast 10 friends who love your food) One important aspect is please maintain this quality and am sure there will be no-one to compete with you. Whenever we want to have biriyani, we only think of Mani's dum biriyani.

decided to order mani's biryani today. i'm always apprehensive of veg biryanis. maybe i'll find a piece of meta, maybe there's no taste, etc because most restaurants give a step-motherly treatment to veg biryani. mani's was excellent. very good vfm too. large portions, lots of veg and very tasty.

Mouthwatering and best Biryani in Bangalore

When we were in koramangala (now in US) we were regular at Mani's Dum Biryani, infact every weekend, Biryani is so YUM!! we have tasted Biryani at so many places in Bangalore, the only next to Mani's is Hydrabad Biryani on Victoria Road (Old Airport Rd). Please try Fish Kabab along with Birayai and end with excellent gulab jamoon.......everything is soo good here........my next visit to India (Bangalore) will be in 2014 and I am confident Mani's Dum Biryani wd have many more branches open by then.....I wish them the best

Love the food ... and the biryani ofcourse!

Have been here with my wife a couple of times... She is a pure Veg and i am a hard-core non-vegetarian... Yet, we both simply love to go to this place regularly for our dinners.

I just cant get enough of the biryani which is their staple here ..... and my wife also likes the vegetarian fare here.

We have actually recommended this place to quite a few of our friends and colleagues... and most of them have come back with good feedback...

The buzz is that they genuinely use separate vessels and cooking places for Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian stuff.... which is cool... bcos my wifey is a bit skeptical of other non-veg joints in this regard.

So if you are in this area... and would like to have some really cool Value-for-money lunch/dinner... this place should be a definite consideration...

BAD Food at MAnis

I have been hearing Manis is great place to dine ever since i joined my office at Koramangala. We decided to try this out for Monday Lunch and viola, here you have 2 out 6 guests sick, me at home recovering for two days, docs suspected a mild food poisoning.. Ofcourse it should happen to me, when i saw them serving food itself.

We were 6 of us and we sat opposite the Television on the sofa viewing the second innings of the India - West Indies Test Match at Kotla and unfortunate to watch the match, wickets were falling every time i raised my hand to grab the attention of the waiter.

We ordered for two Family packs of Chicken Biriyani (1 - Boneless and 1 - Bone) and while the order was taken i told the waiter i need HOT water, (next time you need HOT WATER, better ask for BOILING WATER) he got the hot water mixed with normal water and it was hardly WARM, forget being hot, it took 20 minutes approx. for the food to arrive, however on the table next to us the food was served and the guests had already left by then, while we were tying down our hunger as the Anger and Patience was building up. In between these 20 minutes the waiter placed the plates and the crokcery and this got us to the edge of the seats holding our fork and spoons anticipating the food will be served now... now or now ..... we finally relaxed back when another wicket well and all of us blaming the kotla pitch....

Food was served - Oo La LA ! One Chicken Leg and some rice and a ball of masala with some yellow rice popping here and there indicating food was just mixed and the mixing was not good with the masalas. We finished one plate of the serving and was awaiting the waiter to serve us the food and while i raised my hand to ask him to serve, he just pointed his finger and went away to the other direction, not sure where he was headed too, and when this was sort of getting into my nerves there goes another wicket.

It was adding to the anger and dilema of having lunch.. :) I being a strong advocate of processes, wanted the waiter to serve him as it is his responsibility to serve the guest, keeping this aside i began serving for colleagues and myself ( this is not good manners ) when the waiter leaning on the pillar came running to serve. I asked him not to serve me and instead serve the rest of the guest on my table.... Gave him a horrified look and he tried to ignore it when my colleague went ballistic on him in kannada.. he said we are only two and cannot do anything about the services

Finally my colleague asked for hot water for a second round and from where did it come, it came from the same kettle where hot water is kept to serve in the finger bowls.. Ideally this means.. if you remove the lemon from the finger bowl its equivalent to drinking water or is it vice versa....

Now, we have decided NOT to go there to MANI's.. They did not keep my expectations... and put me into a deadly health problem…

Its time you decide .....

And the two days that i had was worth watching the match at home with home food...
Home is always the best in any part of the world you are ...

Mani's Dum Biryani

Read all the reviews and this made me eager to try Mani's Dum Biryani
Being a Biryani fanatic and trying a lot of different types of Biryani's, this was a sure shot try
1) Dropped in last week and parcelled 1 Chicken Biryani and 1 Mutton Biryani - Boneless. Boneless was the biggest mistake
2) Biryani rice is nice and long, not so spicy - taste is ok - i have had better Biryani in Bangalore
3) Boneless Chicken and Boneless Mutton - which is cooked separately and added to the Biryani. The Chicken and Mutton are cooked separately in Water+Turmeric+salt. This does not taste like the Biryani pieces a Bit. I was told by the server specifically that the Boneless Chicken and Mutton are cooked the same way in Dum style the way the Rice Biryani is cooked. That is not true and it is just plain blank water boiled in turmeric and salt - Chicken and Mutton pieces which look out of sorts for the Biryani and taste ordinary
I Guess the bone Biryani is cooked together – just my guess again as I did not try this
4) Tried the Chicken lollipop while waiting for the Biryani parcel - it was pretty good and spicy
5) Price I would not say it is cheap. For the quantity the price is appropriate and it is not cheap

Overall: Being a good taste bud, this was a complete let down of the Biryani

Nope, not the original dum biryani

In my opinion, the briyani here is not the original dum briyani...its an average briyani with an average price. I am very surprised that some of you say that it is the best briyani place in town! It is definitely not that good a place...I must say though, I still have not found a good briyani place in bangalore.. Apart from that, service was so slow. We had to wait such a long time when the restaurant only had about 2 customers already having their briyanis! I don't know why it took so long for them but its definitely worth a try.

Mani's Biryani

Did an order today with great trepidation - having had really sad experiences with Biryani at Blore. Mani's was simply awesome to say the least..Biryani was flavorful, the salan was top of the world and the quantity for the twos pack was simply unbeatable. Simply superb and considering we paid less than 600 for 4 mutton biryani's tasting the way it did was an icing on the cake...

Way to go.. keep it up

Great Place for Biryani Addicts!!

I went to this cosy little place with 6 of my friends for dinner. We ordered baby corn pepper fry and mushroom pepper fry for starters and veg biryani for myself. My friends ordered chicken biryani. The starters were really yummy.I love baby corn and we ordered 2 baby corn starters and both were delicious.

Next we were served the biryani with raitha and salan. It was well made with right mix of spices and ingredients. My non-veg loving friends said the chicken veg biryani was also excellent.

We wrapped it up with some soft gulab jamun. They have a humble menu which empowers them to maintain the good quality. And the best part is everything is so affordable.

VFM Biryani

My friend and I were in a mood for some Biryani and looked for a VFM place that wasn’t too far from where we live. We were at the restaurant by 8:30PM and it wasn’t full for our surprise. Since, we were hungry, we did not look into too many details of the restaurant. Our focus initially was on the menu! We wanted to dig straight into the Biryani. But, I tempted my friend to order something for the starter. After browsing thru the menu, I zeroed in on Chilly Mushroom Fry. This one was very spicy and goes well with its name. we could not finish due the extra spice in it. Also, this was very oily. Spicy and the oily combo, made me avoid this.

They had Biryanis like Mutton Biryani, chicken Biryani – the regular and boneless and the regular Veg Biryani. The best part was they have something called as Cutting Biryani (sounds like cutting chai) which is half the portion of the original. This sounded like a very good option to us as we wanted to try 2 different biryanis and not overload ourselves. We ended up ordering one cutting Chicken Biryani and one cutting Veg Biryani. This was made with right amount of spices and was good. I would not say, this is the best I’ve had till date. But, this surely decent enough to relish and enjoy and definitely Value for Money.

They do have some parathas and curries listed which sounded good but, we were too full to try it out.

The ambience is very simple and accommodates around 6 – 7 tables. The not so good part about this place was, they have only fans and do not have a/c. or I don’t know if it was my bad luck, the day I went, there were no a/c. It could get really bad for those who dine there on a summer afternoon.

Overall, a good place if you want to have a quick lunch or dinner and satisfy yourself with Biryani. The total cost to the 2 of us was around 300 bucks which was a very good deal. Go there, if you are looking for VFM Biryani!

Thanks a lot for your review. Our "Cutting" Biryanis were introduced based on customer feedback that our standard Biryani portion was too large for quick work-day lunch. Plus it also offers our customers to enjoy our Biryanis starting from Rs. 65. Our mission is to serve great tasting Biryanis at VFM prices. We are glad that found our mission in action.

Decently priced good biriyani joint

My title almost sums up my review but there is need to set the expectations right after a couple of reviews have attached a few objectives to this place which it doesn't deserve, nothing against the place because maybe they never aspired to be the best biriyani joint in Bangalore. Are they one of the best biriyani places in Bangalore ??? Answer is NO.
This doesn't take away any credit from this place. They do serve good biriyani ,rather good quantities and at a justifiable price.
Will i ever go again - Definitely yes ,when i am in mood to eat well at a reasonable cost ,net when i am aiming to savor the best biryani Bangalore has to offer.

Thanks Rahul for your review. Like you have mentioned, we do not claim to serve the best Biryanis. But we strive to serve great tasting Biryanis at VFM prices. Some of our customers though find our Biryanis to be best in Bangalore.

Ordiniary it is.

Had the chicken Biryani from this place. The chicken piece was pretty bad. The biryani was comparable to the random Biryani you get in any Darshini. Would not go back again.

We are sorry that you did not have a good experience with us. We strive to serve great tasting Biryanis at VFM prices. Do check out our Biryanis whenever you get another chance.

they might consider serving the biryani hot

the biryani is above average but is served ice cold. that really kills the taste & the overall experience.

Dum Daar Biryani

I'm fan of Biryani and have tried Biryani from many place but this particular restaurant tops the chart by offering a excellent Dum Biryani at economical price using good quality of basic ingredients like long grain rice and spices.

This restaurant got its name from its chef. They are good in just not the Biryani part of their menu, but also in all other items ( like starters, desserts ) being offered in the menu which is very commendable.

Ambiance:
There is nothing special about the ambiance of this average hall space size restaurant. Looks like they focus more on the food than on the ambiance. But a little improvement on the ambiance front is desired specially around the dinning area instead of around the cash/billing counter.

Quality of the food:
There is no second opinion about the quality of ingredients used to prepare any food item available in this very much restaurant. For Biryani, they uses good quality long grain rice and for other food items too, the usage of spices and other basic ingredients were of good quality. Their veg Biryani is quite good compared to what is being offered by other restaurants as generally you get just rice with very minimal quantity of any vegetables or similar ingredients in it, in name of veg Biryani, but here, they prepare Biryani with quite a good quantity of vegetables in it which adds to the flavor and aroma.

Quantity:
Serving size of all of their food items is quite satisfactory in nature.

Serving time
No complaints about the serving time. The staff is very courteous too.

Price tag:
Considering the quality, quantity of food, there menu items are reasonably priced.

Summary:
This total value for money place is definitely worth trying and myself have been to this place many times whenever I'm around in that area to try their delicious Biryani and still counting.

I appreciated your reply. I have been patron to your restaurant for really long time and about every weekend I visit your place to have this one of the best Biryani available in town.

Excellent chicken birayani, the best in Bangalore

The biryani here is excellent, light, flavorful and simple. The chicken biryani is better than the mutton. I think they have the best biryani in Bangalore. It is best for take away. the portions are large and it is reasonable

Thanks a lot for your review. Looking forward to seeing you at our restaurant whenevr you are in the mood for Biryanis

Can't understand.....

... Whats the Hype about????? There biryani is very average.

All I can remember is that there was an article in Times of India that made this so popular. Yeah they came out with the idea of cutting biryani. But I don't see any other innovation. There biryani is just OK.

More over last time we ordered a mutton biryani and the mutton was hard and tasted stale. So was the chicken. Any day the Biryani from nearby places like Meghna is better.

Buckle up guys if the chiken/mutton is stale or Biryani is not good it will be difficult to survive by just serving food cheap.

Decent Place but Extremely slow service

I've been to this place thrice. The food is tasty, reasonable and portions are good. Both the chicken and veg biriyani are very nice.. But the worst part is the service which is soooooo slow.
We almost missed an important meeting when we went for lunch from office... The waiter took 15 mins to give my friend an extra spoon. I think take away is the best option here.

Too Good!! Paisa Wasool!!

After reading the reviews we finally thought of visiting this place on a sunday afternoon. The biryani was awesome, the starters are too good and priced reasonably.

Its been more than 3 months I started going there on every weekend with my friends and everyone liked it. Sometimes we go there more than once in a week, just to taste the delicious starters and biryani.

The quantity of Chiken biryani is also good and serves 2 @ Rs 99!!

I Strongly suggest this place to people who love biryani.

Good Biryani

Have ordered once from this place. The chicken boneless biryani was really good. Portion was large & it was priced at Rs 99 . Came with a raita & salan.
The grilled chicken ordered as a side dish was also decent but was oily.
However good place to order from if you arent in a mood to cook or go out for dinner. And COMPLETE VALUE for money...!!

New place. Good concepts

Had been to a close friend's house recently for a potluck party

With biryani being my all time favourite food, I was intesretd to know the recipe for the Biryani made by her. Well, turns out that my pal was cheating! She had ordered the biryani on that day from this place

I must say that it was fantastic. Not the best that I have had in Bangalore. But pretty close. Definitely worth a try

My frined tells me that since the placeis rather small, one is best advised to get it delivered. Or taken away if you stay very far

Decent Biryani

Went here on sunday after reading the raving review in the Bangalore Times on Friday. Huge crowd waiting - the place was very small - so clearly these guys underestimated the demand for their Biryani. Did a take-away of their Chicken Boneless Biryani - microwaved it and ate it. The portion was quite large. The Biryani was spicy and very tasty - will definitely go there again .

Great Food- Greater prices!!

Had a veg biriyani and kulfi- very basic settings but the food more than makes up for it. Looks like they use authentic ingredients and focus on the food and less on the ambience

Great place for a quick meal.

Good Biryani - Cheap Prices

As we were driving on the JNC road, I noticed a huge red bill board shouting out "Mani's Dum Biryani". It was time to have lunch and we decided to check it out. The menu had something unique - cutting biryani (half portion at half prices). I ordered a Veg Biryani and my friends ordered a chicken boneless biryani and a mutton boneless biryani - all cutting. The rice was very good. My mutton loving friend really loved the stuff and proclaimed this was good lamb - no beef mixing. We wanted a side dish and ordered a grilled paneer tikka and this was excellent with a different kind of taste - we were told this was pan grilled rather than in a tandoor - whatever. The cutting portions were small - we weren't really full. So we ordered Kulfi - this came in a little plastic matka - nice. Overall a surprisingly good lunch at around 75 bucks per head. As you may have noticed from my other reviews, I love places which offer good food at cheap prices (such as Murugan Idly shop, Sri Krishna Cafe etc.) - this place is definitely on that list. Service was quite slow though and needs to be improved.
