An okay experience

I have been to this restaurant innumerable times. It s a nice place with interesting decor.

Location: 4/5
Menu: 4/5
Food: 4/5
Service: 3/5

The reason for the 3/5 is because I still did'nt feel the experience was that great.
Parking is usually available.

Nice for familys as kids might enjoy the jungle theme very much.
Could improve on service.

Price is pretty reasonable.

great ambience .. Bad food .. Damn expensive

I had heard about Serengity so much that I was all tempted to visit this place as soon as I could.

The place is a jungle theme based restaurant. And the whole ambiance is very good, You have a tiny bridge and safari dressed service takers. Coming to the food - Its expensive and nothing that you would take home about. We ordered two starter Chciken item, and though both of them sounded different it was tasting all the same - out of tandoor other one out of tandoor some gravy around. The food was other wise decent but the price cannot be justfied (maybe the rent and the theme costs some money that they charge on the food).

The staff is courteous and well mannered. I would suggest you to visit this place only if you do not worry about the money and want to spend some quality time with the other person, coz the ambiance is very good.

Nice Ambience

You will feel like you are in a jungle... bt when we entered it was smelling badly.. I thought are we in the real jungle or some kind of zoo??? Bt later on it was better. Food was good... with more than moderate price...

Worst Expereince in Sarangeti

This is the worst experience i ever had in a restaurant. the ambience is gud. but is worst in its kind. i orderd for a fish and waited for 30 mins to know that the item i ordered is not available. they were not at all bothered to tell me that it is not available. we orderd for some other dishes which we we were served after finishing the lunch. even then they did not remember that we ordered it. we had to ask 3 times for a coke. We complained the same to a so called manager there. he was simply telling sorry. we asked for a figer bowl and they served it with cold water. we asked him to replace it with warm water. again he brought cold water. i had to call the manager again for this and he got warm water after 5mins. what a sort of restaurant is this? worst part was that he gave us a complimentary deserts to cover all this. to be honest that was the worst desert i ever had. i was not at all interested to discuss with him any more. they charged service charge for this sort of worst service. i would never visit this restaurant again and would suggest all my friends not to visit. you people know only one thing. "SORRY SIR, WE ARE SORRY FOR THAT". try to improve ur service than asking apologies always.

Forest mania :) :)

Located in the top floor and corner of Total Mall, Madiwala, this place cannot be missed. Ambiance of this place is what sets is apart. No sooner than you enter this place and you are awestruck. The forest like ambiance is pretty cool and the waiters are also dressed in forest style. Coming to the food, its pretty delicious. No specialty in the food as such but its good. The ambiance will force you have some drinks. Single malt is always the best. The price they charge is also decent. To conclude this place is ideal for family, date, team outing etc. Live Ghazals and other activities during weekends are add on. So its a must visit place and to be frequented upon.

Good food overshadowed by numerous short comings

I dont remember how many times I have been to Serengeti. It has become the go to place for us. The quality of food remains consistently good. The chicken dishes are truely mouth watering.
However, there has been no change whatsoever to the ambience of the place and the service has gone down a notch. One would have expected that the management would try to alter the ambience of the place, atleast a little bit over time, to surprise returning patrons. This time around, I was really annoyed by the focus lights which seem to point right at your face and make it very difficult to have a normal open-eyed conversation with the person sitting across the table. One more highly annoying thing was the loud music spilling over from the near by night club which rendered the soothing live music useless.
The people taking the order try their best to be helping but its very difficult to grab their attention to place an order.
The worst thing about this restaurant is that it doesn't have its own wash room.
I have no complaints about the food but the entire dining experience would be much better if the management could take care of the above short comings.
And yes, they do include service charge in addition to the service tax in the bill.

Very Horrible Experience in SERENGETI

We just had a team dinner at Serengeti and when the bill came I was surprised to see that they have charged us

(1) Service charge
(2) Service Tax
(3) VAT

This is the first time I have seen that service tax is charged on food. However, the bill did not mention about the Service Tax number which is mandatory as per the law. I seek clarification on the same and the response was rude, arrogant and insulting.

These guys are looting us by charging the service tax on food which is illegal and on top of that not depositing to the govt.

Horrible service, horrible employees(Captain PAPPU) and terrible experience.

2.) The service tax code / number has been mentioned @ bottom of all the bills, which is given by govt of India on regular deposition of the same with them.

Pls feel free to get in touch with us for any further clarification in the above regard.

Another chance

I have been to Ohri's Serengeti four times in the last two years, and I must admit that I was totally impressed during my first visit. But it has been all downhill after that. The ambiance and the food is really good, but what spoils it is the loud music coming from the pub next door, and the late service. I request the management to sound-proof the place, and revamp the service. I will definitely be visiting the place again, only if these issues are looked into.

only if u wana get rid of ur cash sumhow..

me n my frend went2 this plce yesterday for dinner.my friend told me about this place and its reputation in hyderabad,as he himself is from that place.it was a sunday eve,so lil rush & hafta wait for some 20 mins to get a table.on entering the place,v loved the ambience & jungle theme,it was really soothing to our eyes.v thought it to be a perfect place for a peaceful dinner.v got a table & there started the mismanagment.al f sudden, sum shitty loud music started troubling our ears from discotheque wic s just beside restaurant.it was annoying & our peace left us there itself.menu card wer served.my frend asked for a blue island sea and i asked for a draught beer and a spicy tandoori mushroom for starters.beer wen brought was warm & watery and blue island sea was nothing but a chilled suger syrup.the starter however was ok,wel cooked but not wel tasted.i called the waiter who took the order,n asked him about the warm beer,to my surprise he told me that beer is served at this temperament only and not chiller than this(i wonder y dese idiots in pubs serve it so damn chilled).v wer taken aback with all dese and decided not to order any curry o bread & to hav a biryaani instead.it took me around 7-8 calls wen the waiter finally approached & v ordered a tandoori paneer biryani.meanwhile v heard our neighbouring table fellas shouting over waiter for the late service & and one couple fighting with another waiter over the excessive bill and on imposing extra taxes.v already started developing a negative image of this place.after around 25 mins,v finally got our order.v wer not surprised to see normal rice instead of basmati and it tasted exactly like a veg pulav, this was height of disappointment.our patience gave way,we left the food on plate & asked for check.it took'em another 15-20 mins to bring down the bill,v wer charged service tax, service charge, and VAT over the bill,v end up paying more than 20% tax on our bill..anyhow v decided not to debate on this as it will be another waste of time, they took another 10mins to process the card & finally v left the place with empty stomach and disappointing experience.
ambience - 4/5
service - 2/5
food - 1.5/5
they have shed alot f moolah on ambience but nil on food and service.
its a request to burrp team not to certify such resaturants as v burrpers blindly trust u and ur recommendations.

190 bucks to see elephants and tigers

We were fans of this place while in Hyderabad. But this place is no where close, is the least to say. The poor experience starts right from the parking lot (which looks pretty dingy), the lift (that has no sensors and almost squeezed a guy), the washroom (which is shared with Food bazaar and all its helpers) and finally ending with the non-responsive and cold staff. First, we asked for a 6 seater outside, but were given a 4 seater inside. And nobody was around to address this concern - it seemed like this was nobody's responsibility ! Ofcourse, finally we got something. We reached this place without a reservation, so I guess its my fault for waiting inside. The AC sections were limited due to some technical issues on a Friday night !
I would have accepted all these issues had it not been for the atrocious bill considering this kind of service and ambiance. They charged a whopping 10% on a bill of 1900 as service charge ! is there no limit on this ? Add to this VAT and STax !

Delight.

Serengity is a fantastic restaurant and is well-deserving of the 5 star rating given.
I asked the staff to help me out on my last visit since I wanted a well-coordinated range of tastes, and I was not disappointed. All courses were absolutely stupendous. My girlfriend chose from the standard menu and was also nicely surprised by the power and subtlety of tastes in each dish.
If you can get a reservation, this restaurant is a must-taste!
We will be visiting again, this restaurant really made our weekend.
Try it, and you will start going there regularly.

Left a bad taste at the end!

Me and my family went to Serengeti for lunch after a tiring morning running around. This was our first time there. The ambience was different and we enjoyed it, especially our 3 year old son.
That was the fun part. Now the details -
First thing upfront, no washroom. You'll have to make your way to the Total Mall Food Express next door and use the wash room there.

We ordered two juices, which were okay.
Then for the main course we ordered Cheese Kulcha, Methi Chicken and Navratan Pulao.
Cheese Kulcha was good, and the taste of the remaining two dishes just passed muster.
Since we found the food amount a little too much for our lunch, we asked them to pack it for us. This pack was supposed to contain 1 Cheese Kulcha (2 slices), and at least two Methi Chicken pieces.

Surprise, surprise. We reach home and in the evening when we take out the packed food, we find only one slice of Cheese Kulcha and one piece of Chicken instead of two.
We were really surprised, as this is a regular thing with us (getting leftover food packed) but this was the first time that the quantity got reduced.

We are a small family and were planning to consume the remaining stuff for dinner.
Not that this would make or break our dinner, but whatever happened shouldn't happen. It left a bad taste in the mouth.

So guys, check the pack if you are ordering a pack of the leftovers. If it happened with us it can happen again.

Skipable !

The food was average , not bad , but not too good. The sweet and salty lemon soda had a bad taste . Maybe okay place for a long dinner not an ideal place for lunch parties.

The service was very bad . They were slow on serving food and sometimes confused.

Saag Paneer (Avg)

Love the environment

Love this place. Have gone there for bday and ann. Loved the prawn starters and chicken starter (go for that only) and then pack the main course. Wife loves it too. Little expensive though worth it I say.
reminds me of the place I used to go to in Kansas which also had the jungle theme. Really a nice place.

Great ambiance, above average food

I got a chance to visit the place recently, with a guest and family.

The ambiance is nice. My kid especially loved it. There were enough things to keep him busy through out our dinner. The place is much bigger than it looks.

The cocktails we ordered were average. The starters we ordered along with the cocktails were excellent. Especially the palak chat.

The dish size of the starters was higher than expected. By the time we finished starters, we were full. For main course we only had Dum biryani. Dum biryani was top notch. Full marks to it.

Overall
service was excellent. 9/10
Ambiance was excellent 9/10
Food was good 8/10

My only complaint
1. We were given a dry item with sauce when we arrived. The sauce in that was smelly.
2. For the jungle theme, the music from adjacent pub was loud.

Overall, I liked the restaurant and would definitely like to visit again.

Amazing taste

People have to try rann-e-sikandar at Serengeti. Its probably one of the best mutton dishes you'll get to eat in Bangalore. The Biryani too is just amazing. The servings for every dish are for 3-4 people.
We had such a nice experience that we wanted to meet the chef to let him know how good the food was.
The service was not that bad either.
Overall it was a nice experience.
The place is a must try for every non vegetarian.
Also, the mushroom dishes are very good :)

Ambiance is not enough

Well, after reading the reviews i dared to go to this place for my team lunch. Guess the Serengeti team needs to understand ambiance is not enough for a rest. Worst possible service. Only one waiter for an entire section, needless to say this was causing delay. Not at all polite staff. After repeated request also, the management dint really pay any attention
Now coming to the food, we went for a buffet spread. Veg food was really poor and tasteless and non veg was just OK. Cant even say good.

All in all, this rest is only for ambiance and nothing else.

Best restaurant of bangalore

Hi,

Serengeti is one of the best ambiance restaurant i have ever seen in bangalore, food is too good. I keep on visiting to most of the food joint but this food joint is one of my best experienced place. Jungle & animal refreshes mind, animal sound is thrilling, kebab are delicious. Kids are very happy & want to go to this place all the time....

Good Food. Impolite & argumentative service

Yet another example of good food marred by bad service! Not only was the service a bit slow, they even were argumentative and don't seem to have heard or practice the "customer is right" concept.

The initial hiccup arrived at the entrance itself. Neither were we asked to be seated nor pointed to a table. We stumbled across the blackness and sat down on the nearest available table.

Next came the ordering nightmare...the steward didn't note down our order, something which came back to bite us back later. When I said "Tomato shorbha one-by-two", he literally scorned at me saying "we don't serve 1/2" as if I'd committed some sin! Another mishap when mushroom and corn kurkure ended up being served up as aloo kurkure. And as if we didn't know the difference between potato and mushroom/corn, they kept arguing that what we got was mushroom itself.

One of ordered Coke and they served up Diet Coke...with buckets of Ice....and when we sent it back and asked for proper Coke, they served up a glass of mildly cold coke, sans the fizz...as if it was served from a long-opened 1/5 Ltr PET

Serengeti is known for its jungle theme and the ambience was as expected but they really should NOT play Kishore Kumar songs in a jungle-setting! Something more junglee beats or a howl or two would have been apt.

Since it was an auspicious day, we stuck only to the vegetarian items and apart from the starters, none were disappointing. The hot gulabjamun in cold rabidi is excellent and is a must-try.

Having been a regular visitor to the Hyderabad Serengeti, I feel the Bangalore one has a LOT to do to make up to its original cousin.

The food was good which overshadowed the shortcomings but one can't expect to survive on one's laurels all the while.

Its Pull-up-socks or pack-up-the-tables time for them!

Stood by its theme by having inhospitable staff

Serengeti is a theme based restaurant probably inspired by the Serengeti National Park in Serengeti area, Tanzania. It belongs to Ohri's group, the group which seems to always focus on ambiance of the restaurant than the staff's courtesy or food quality.

Its bar and restaurant, keeping both sections separate though. This review is applicable only to the restaurant part of it. Starting with the ambiance:

The ambiance of the restaurant is really cool and refreshing as its makes you feel you are dining in national park surroundings. Worth dining for if ONLY looking for some nice and unique ambiance.

Quality and quality of food:
Food items were fresh but, too average preparation ( like more oily, more diluted) for such a price. Not much complains about the quantity of each serving if price is not taken into consideration.

Staff courtesy and table manners:
If there is a way to give minus ratings, then I would like to rate this restaurant's staff on that. Staff didn't know how to serve food and offer services to the guests on the table with courtesy. I have been to this place couple of times before reviewing this place, and every time this restaurant have disappointed me, my friends in terms of courtesy of the staff. In one of the incident, they gave us finger bowl at the end of the meal filled with chilled water and upon complaining it, we got an answer saying " Oh, You want warm water in finger bowl ?"

Price tag:
Considering the quality, quantity of food and friendliness of the staff, the menu items are charged little bit on higher side.

I would recommend to visit this place only if you looking for some refreshing ambiance and not for the food and service quality.

Ambiance good. Serving - hopelessly poor. Food quality was also poor. Check the bill before paying. We got excess food items- Not in the table, but in the bill directly (30% extra!). Waiter said - another table's food item got included (what is the big deal???). Once we made enough sound only, the manager came along. He was reluctant to take the problem on record- finally gave me bit of paper to note the issue. I was pretty sure where the paper will go once i pay the bill. He asked me to come over again and check (My foot!- Not again!!) I was wondering why 'accidents' never happens in the other way. After spending 1100 bucks i felt like a beggar.(Why are you barking for 'just' 300 bucks???)

As i mentioned - I insisted of putting my billing issue on record, but your floor manager insisted to write it in a sheet of feedback paper form. I was sure and told him also that the sheet wont be recorded and will be thrown out as soon as i leave the place. Thanks for the similar admission. No updated bills were provided and we were asked to forget the excess billed item and pay the remaining. I got the card of your floor manager. I dont want to disclose my proofs and names in this public forum. If you need it for your internal analysis- send

Reverting my praise

I had earlier praised this place for the ambience, food ... it was just too good.

Had been to this place couple of weeks ago in a group of 15 people.

Must admit, that it was a horrible experience.

Infact i was blamed for having suggested this place for a group dinner by my friends !
The food quality has defn come down. To add to it, we had to eat in total darkness ! The power was out for a really long time. We were promised it wud be restored soon, but it dint happen. The manager/waiters seemed to be least bothered abt the discomfort caused. The kiddos in the group were terrified of this jungle darkness!

What was to be a happy get-together turned rather disastrous @ Serengiti !

Buck up guys@ Serengiti, learn to value customers and their time, money and patience !

Awesome place

Hi, I have visited this restaurant first time & believe me its mind blowing jungle ambiance & food too. Rarely you get a restaurant like this in Bangalore. If you trust my word then you must visit & feel the difference. Its like coming in to a different world of dinning with great food & service. I have lot to write......Elephant-Lion-Jiraffe-Rain and lot more to adventure. Thanks a lot.

Addendum to Serengeti - The damp squib

I posted a while back complaining about the inefficiency of the place. I am happy to say that I was immediately contacted by their general mangers to apologize for the service. They were actually eager to hear my feedback and promised me a better experience next time.
I will take their word that they were experiencing technical difficulties. I am just glad that their service recovery has been swift and comprehensive. The food is good and if they realize that good food tastes best with great service then they have done their jobs.

Seregeti - The damp squib

Ruined a perfectly good Friday evening. This place has really gone down the drain. To start the tables are too close together. We had a bunch of ten who under the influence of alcohol just could not keep their voices down, hence we moved to the family room.
This is where the fun really starts the room seemed to have not been opened for a few months it was damp and moldy atmosphere. The plates were stained and faded. Okay for a moment let us overlook the ambiance and get down to the food. They claim to have great vegetarian food but I will say the contrary. The mushrooms had a weird sour taste to them. After the starters we waited 10 minutes to get a worn out menu card ( could conjure up only one). Then our apprentice magician cum waiter disappeared for 15 minutes and finally took our orders. No one actually bothered to fill up our water glasses ( they strictly follow a one cup policy here).
We decided to order more and this is where it started to get interesting. My hands dried out but our waiter was no where in sight. I finally had to walk up to the captain to ask for some service. After a volley of words I finally got a chance to place my order.
The manager probably didn't want me to go unhappy so he offered a free curry on the house. I refused to take it but he insisted I try it. I regret that decision even more. The best was when the folks at the next table refused to accept their order for butter naans as he had delayed it too much he offered that to us as a compliment.
I just asked him to bring my check instead he goes and gets me Gulab jamun for dessert. Probably a reject from another table. I paid the bill and got out with such a distasteful feeling in my mouth. They should seriously shut this place down, they have obviously forgotten their past days of glory. Also the rates are too high for the quality of food on offer.

A very good theme restaurant

Went to this place with my parents..A very good ambiance and first appearance..Food is pretty neat though i wouldnt cal this a multicuisine restaurant. But the food they offer are pretty darn good..And the prices are reasonable compared to other restaurant like Gufha.Where they charge crazy money for less quantity of food..
Here quality and quantity was pretty reasonable..
African Jungle experience..Decent choices of alcohol.
Awesome starters..
The only negative thing about it is the waiters..they take care of u well..service is decent but they're just not skilled enough and there's room for improvement..
A very good choice for a family get together, or reunion of friends or a date with ur special one cuz the restaurant is very cozy for a couple as well..

Horrible service for the price of a 4 star

To begin with, I was extremely disappointed to see such a drastic change in the service levels since our first visit. We had booked our table for 3 prior to arrival expecting to get a better seating in the main rain forest ambience area. To our disappointment we were led to a 5 table semi closed family room smelling of damp and the A/C inside hardly helped.Totally unaware that this was just the beginning and there was worse in store for us, we did place our order for starters. The starters(chicken kababs) did arrive but with no accompaniments like the Green Chutney or the curd based chutney that are usually served with the kababs. It seemed that all the waiters were busy checking on people seated in the main forest ambience area and were least bothered about the people in the family room. Finally, the main course, the chicken dum biriyani arrived without the raitha which is a must serve with any kind of biriyani. We are not the usual fussy types when it comes to service. We were pretty fine ignoring the first mistake of not bringing the chutney along with the kababs and not having any waiter to check on us to ask for the missing chutneys. But then, the same thing happening all over again was pushing it. As though things weren't bad enough, the waiter who took our order finally arrived and had the audacity to ask us for a favourable service feedback. That stupid gesture of the waiter got me real wild. We then complained to him about the missing chutneys and the missing raitha. His only response to us then was '' it will not happen again mam" with a disappointed look because we complained. All through the conversation, he never mentioned that he would have the raitha sent over immediately as we were not yet done with our food then. We had had enough by then with the outrageous service offered to us. We just didn't feel like eating anymore there and asked the waiter to pack the remaining biriyani and sternly ordered him to pack the missing raitha as well. To sum it all up, Serengeti is a perfect example of how to leave guests with an overall unpleasant, pathetic service experience despite having a wonderful ambience to offer.

Good Ambience but Overpriced

Happened to visit this place on a sunday afternoon around 330 pm. They allowed us to enter very nicely and when we were set on the table we were asked to order directly the maincourse as the kitchen was closing. How could they expect us to finish off our lunch just in half an hour and run off on a sunday... tht was pathetic.. service guys are OK.. food was ok but definitely as per the ambience.. and too over priced.. ok to visit once.. have got better places to visit in tht budget in bangalore....

Forest Setting with food that just does not fit in

The African style jungle setting is fabulous - why the hell would they offer standard Indian fare in a place like this. If not African cuisine, they should atleast focus on grilled items (BBQ nation type) rather than rotis and curries. The bar set-up is good.

Good food & ambience, but too Pricey

It's all fair, maybe it's the balance between goodness and being pricey. But I think it is slightly about 25% too high considering it is located in Total Mall, we wouldnt expect that price for a restaurant.

Great Ambiance, Great Food

The basement looked dingy, gave car for valet parking and headed towards lift. Although the lift made weird sounds we reached 3rd floor safely. Having heard a lot about this restaurant I was quite curious to visit the place but the route to the restaurant wasn't exciting. I looked around and there I spotted the board - Serengeti.

The theme of the restaurant is based on rain forests. But when I looked up on net for Serengeti region in Africa, found that it is not exactly a rain forest region!!! Serengeti actually means - endless plain.

Coming back to the restaurant, it is situated in Total Mall, Madiwala, Bangalore. I had been there on Valentine's day. The ambiance was perfect for a valentine dinner and I did not get to chose from menu as they had a set menu in place for that day.

Started off with a Litchi drink and then moved on to starters. Stuffed Aloo and Capsicum, cooked to perfection with a delicious filling followed by fried corn and fried rolls. Fried corn is something new which I never had anywhere before and it was very good. The sad part was there were too many starters.

Then the main course - Aloo palak and Kadai vegetable along with a basket of assorted Indian bread. Though I normally prefer Roti to Naan, I liked Naan very much. Roti was not upto the mark. The service was good and fast. We were already so full, we said no to rice and daal. Jumped directly to dessert which was one of my fav - hot gulab jamoon and vanilla ice-cream.

All in all it was a great restaurant with soothing ambiance, yummy food and a very good service.

I am looking forward for my next visit :-)

PS: Don't EVER order iced tea as it was nowhere close to iced tea

Pls come here to get cheated

All,

Forget about me writing how great the food is here and all, I had my worst nightmare come true - become a victim of a credit card fraud.

The gentle nice talking people of Serengeti have convenienetly forgotten to return my credit card and to top it all I found out a day late rthe card has been used to buy a cell phone and some jewels. I call the restuarant and all I get is we plead innocence and we do not knwo about it.

So, summary, ensure you get your credit card back or better even pay it by cash at this place.

wild place, wild service

Ambience:

Cheap plastic interiors spoil the effort in bringing Serengeti to Bangalore. The ambience is very average. packed & noisy. I dont understand the need to play Md Rafi when the presentation is all about Tanzania (Same songs were played in a loop).

Food:

Quanity served is generous, but the quality doesnt appreciate the price.

Paya Shorba : Tasted just like Rasam (No mutton chunks)

Murgh Lajawab : Decent

Haleem : Bad

Biriyani of Hyderabad: Very stale. The rice & the meat (Very fiberous & tough) lacked the masala flavour.

Pink Panther : Decent

Badshahi Falooda : Turned out to be vermicelli payasam..not bad

Service:

Well.. what can I expect from a jungle? obviously an uncivilized behaviour. The waiters were very laid back & unfriendly. The candles on my table were not lit & constant follow ups had to be made to get the glasses filled.Their lack of product knowledge sets up a relay between the customer & the chef.

PS : I expect decent food & good service for the money I spend. This is purely my opinion - Others may differ

Awesome Ambience! Great Food!!

When I heard that it was another Ohri venture, I imagined it to be similar to Gufaa (Hyderabad). But this place beats Gufaa hands down. The restaurant theme is based on the rain forest. The interiors are dark and have artificial trees with a stream following through the restaurant.

I can't vouch for the authenticity of the Pubjabi/Lucknowi cuisine served. But the food was awesome.

Must try: Dum Biriyani

Jungle jungle pata chala hain

A nice little jungle - Welcome to Serengiti, a restaurant with a cool ambience and great food.
True is the fact that veggies dont have too many options when it comes to concept restaurants. Serengiti beats this .. go try it all u veggies.
Loved the Makai chatpata (starter), tangy potato chips (complimentary starter), Chilli Olive rotis (dont miss this one), Pudina parathas (yummm), Bhaingan Bharta, Serengiti Dal (amazing dal makhani).
Service defn needs to improve, we had to wait for quite sometime for the order to be serviced.
In all, a nice weekend break amidst elephants, deer, crocodile, ... :-)

A New Star in bangalore

After unexpectedly stumbling on this restaurant in Burrp reviews, I decided to take the ride to Serengeti .. As the name suggestes, u can expect a real African Forest like setup..

The setup is smthing really great and nt an usual one. It was full of trees n lot of leaves.. plus, many animals like elephants, monkeys, tortoises, giraffes, squirrels.. n few dead skulls likes welcome u to this places.

we took the centre tables which easily give s good view of the falls, the cave seaters , the Skulls n bit egyptian type room.. n more importantly.. the kids running around all over the place..
U get to hear elephants n sudden showers..

We started with a Sharbhat and Pine apple pulp with peper mixed in it. it was good.

The starters we had were , Tunda kebab( minced Mutton with awesome spice .. ) and the Chicek.. we took an hour to complete them ( quantity I shoudl say OK type ..3 pieces of chic n muton n each) .. but the palce compliments for all these.

We decided to hv a TAFTAN ( a specialty ROTI) , was outside crusty n so soft inside.. remember . it was slightly sweet and yeah we had Lahori Chicken which had cardamom in them.

Drinks are a bit expensive here.. ( may be u can try Zanzibar. - the Wild bar .. next door..)

Service was really good and the waiters were very helpful.
Average meal for two will cost less than 1500 .

We had 2 starters, a chic biriyani taftans, chic curry...

Desserts were mostly the same ones available n nt much worth experimenting.

But Even Veggies have a wide array to choose from .. so shudnt be a worry for V and NVs .

I would give this palce 5/5 for the ambience and setup and the food. if you are bored of the regular dine ins , then try this.. n take a look at pics too .

Serenity!

The moment you enter this place, you feel you are in a jungle amidst some waterfall and hear the chirping of birds and other animals.
Walk thru inside and you would find the waiters all dressed in the Shikari Shambu Style!

As we were comfortably seated at our table, the waiter served the complimentary starters. I could call it potato chips chat. The potato chips were mixed with the tamarind and the chilli chutney with little curd and sev. Since I was too hungry, I started hogging it.
For appetisers Sariska Panna (Ripe pineapple based) and Shikari Shikanji. This was ok.
For starters, we ordered Karara Palak Chat which was specially recommended one of my good friends and it was worth ordering! I loved it. Though it was the palak leaves dipped in besan and fried, mixed with the tamarind chutney and the chilli chutney with sev.

Apart from this, there was papaya dipped in sugar syrup on each of our tables mixed with flax seeds. I loved this as well.

We ordered Bran Roti (supposed to be made from the unpolished wheat) and Butter Roti with Handi Ki Subzi.
I loved the Bran Roti for the very fact foof tasting very different. The Butter naan was so huge, my friend could not complete it. Handi ki subzi was spicy and was a great combination with the Indian bread.
We were so full to have the desserts but, complementary Moti Choor laddoos were served. We assumed it could be coz’ it was Indian Independence Day and enjoyed it.

For the two of us, the bill was approximately Rs.800/-

I could also notice some kinda cave in some corners where the tables were placed and the food was served.
Overall, for a jungle experience, Serengeti is a must visit. More than the theme, the food overtakes the score on everything else!!
I give it two thumbs up!!

GREAT PLACE - FAMILY

Another hunt for a good theme based restaurant.Makes u feel in a african dark rain forest.

Food is a mixture, meaning Indian and not AFRICAN based at all, considering the theme.

Good ambience, prompt servcice, good food, meaning the starters, must try out the KESAR PANNA, and can try the TAFTANS, great replacement for ROTIS.
DECENTLY PRICED. biryani average.

had a wonderful dinner

heard about this place from a friend that something different...
did nt expect much simply went there....
and after seeing the environment created it s awesome
especially the elephant s movement and sound effect enjoyable and that giraffee so cute...
then the food was delicious service was good but a bit slow...and the price range is high not moderate
the waiters came and asked how was the food as the starter was not nice we told them ....for that we got a complementary desserts (2 sweets, kulfi, gulab jamun) superb...........

Unique Ambience with great food

We had been to Serengeti this weekend, was crowded but we were lucky to get a table soon. There was an average wait of 20-30 minutes though. The rain forest theme looks really good and different. There was a slight delay in service , maybe because it was crowded, took time to serve water etc. We were slightly irritated with the elephant's trumpet sound and finally told them to mute it. The waiters are dressed as rangers ..
Now the most IMP part -- food !! we ordered Lahori Murg as starters .. which was tender and delicious. Main course included Nargisi Kofta and Murg Tikka Makhanwala ... both were tasty and portions were really good .. we could have 2 rounds for five people .. Would love to go there again ... they also have baby high chairs .. so its kid-friendly restaurant.

I dint like the noise from the pub whenever the door opened. Rest all was really good.

Good experience

Nice place to go especially if you have kids with you. Food was nice, ample portion size and decently priced. Drinks are expensive here. Service was nice. I would definitely try this place again. Try to reserve in advance if you want to avoid a wait especially on a weekend.
