Total Funjaabi Experience!

Authentic Punjabi food, pleasant ambiance and considerate and polite staff - what else could one look for in a restaurant. Its one of the few restaurants in the city that have designated sofas for people who are waiting. A must try here is the Sweet Lassi and Dal Makhni. The service is prompt and the food is served hot. A must visit for any Punjabi food lover.

Enjoy How Much Ever You Can

I liked the place and ambiance a lot. It feels like I am sitting in some dhaba and enjoying the evening with 90's songs . I was with my friends and we enjoyed like crazy . That was a Friday night so we enjoyed singing in the karaoke. We sang many songs there. For me it was full masti :) We had good dinner as well. Dal makhani n lassi were awesome there. Over all this place is full of fun.

Not Hygienic

Went to the koramangala branch with family on Sunday and was shocked to find a cockroach in the lassi we ordered. The manger was non responsive after we tried to get him to talk to us. The waiter was talking to him in front of us but he would not come to our table to find out what was wrong. Would request people to not go there if you are worried about food hygiene.

Worst dining experience in Bangalore

Please avoid this place, they have lousy service with waiters and manager not at all concerned about customers. If you ask for regular water, they just keep glass and are completely lost. After calling for three times, somebody came and took our order. Once the starters were kept...not served, we had to again call them for three to four times get our mock-tails which was served after 15-20 minutes of giving the starter. same with food. We wend there specially for jalebies...so despite all this sad experience we ordered for it. Again it was more than half an hour after which I had to literally shout on them to cancel the order..after which it was severed immediately..reason given it takes time for hot jalebis..which was actually not that hot. For bill it again took them 20 mins..that too with mistake...i never ever had such a pathetic experience in any of the restaurants. The service itself is so bad..that I don't feel like writing anything about food. Please avoid this place.

Too expensive! Food was below average. Nothing great about the ambiance as well. Had an altercation with the staff. The only thing we liked was Lassi. The rest was total waste of money. NOT Recommended.

Not bad

Good for some north indian flavour, but found food too less in quantity per dish and yes you have to prepare for little bit of waiting period. Being on top of a lounge / bar, be prepared to hear two mixed music, one from hotel and oher from bar. Wont recommend for taking a date.

Excellent punjabi khaana..

I am a avid fan of Punjabi cuisine and to my delight this place doesn't disappoint you.. You should start of with half a glass lassi which is probably the best you'll have at bangalore. Vegetarians can indulge into Dal makhani which tastes heavenly and the many paneer dishes availabale on the menu. For the non-vegetarians this place has every thing to offer a punjabi cuisine consits of. The desert are great too. The ambience is nice you ahve foosball table to play with and a live bar. Must visit.

our WAITTTTT for Good food!

One of those places where U go with loads of time and PATIENCE because if u are willing to waitttttttttttttt u will be served something good. We were 3 of us, extremely hungry and were in a mood for some finger-licking stuff... It took 10mins for the water to be served after trying all kinds of signals to waiters who made u wait for everything! We ordered Tawa Fish and Chicken #### Tikke (cant remember the exact name) for starters. The Tawa Fish was mesmerizing, very well cooked with the right amount of spices and tasted superrrr... The chicken tikka was good as well but we were more overwhelmed with the FISH. Almost half-full we Waited for the main-course order to be taken and eventually my friend yelling out to the manager regarding the service before we ordered- "mutton cantonment $$$$" and "chicken Lahori" with breads T Roti and Keema Nan. The out and out winner was the mutton which was extremely delicious, smooth and right preparation. I loved the Keema nan as well. The Bill included Service charges which we thought should be waived off, however decent enough for 3 people.

Very Very Poor Service

Been to Oye Amritsar(Koromangla) last night, 26th Aug 2012. Service level was pathetic. Had to ask for napkins, spoons and water. This was the beginning, after giving the firsts order for saabzi and breads my second order for bread was taken by 3 different waiters and then another waiter comes after 10 min to confirm my order for Tandoori Butter Roti. Then got the Naan later on got Plain tandoori roti and finally got the my order which was of completely different taste with of my first order. It was not at all prepared properly my saabzis went cold and did not enjoy the food at all. Finally, I when I saw the bill I was charged for Naan also which was not orders by me but delivered by them wrongly. Friends Beware of this place and please check your bill carefully if in case u r trying this place.

Nothing great Nothing bad!

I visited Oye recently on 7th April for dinner with family and had a satisfactory experience. This was my 2nd visit to Oye and it lived upto my expectations. The service was rather prompt and efficient. We ordered an all veg cuisine with chaas and starters (makkai kebbab and khumb tikka) to begin with. Although both the dishes came on time, makkai kabab was rather hard probably since it was fried too much. For main course we had ordered, dal makhani, panner curry and pindi channa. Except for pindi channa for which the quantity was measly, all other dishes were quite adequate. All of us being dessert fanatics, we were tempted to try their very typical punjabi mithai but the astronomical amount (eg. vanilla ice cream for Rs. 109) dettered us from ordering anything!

Additionally, although the ambiance was typically punjabi with truck driver like interiors, raunchy jokes, there was nothing about it which set it apart from the run-off-the mill punjabi restaurants.
All in all, could be repeated!

Thank for the feedback and I would like you to taste the dessert next and can assure that the price justifies the quality as all are done in pure ghee. Please check the jalebis and gulab jamoon and you will relish the pure flavor.

Been here a couple of times

Very bad service, and strictly OK for the price. The first time we went, there were just 2 of us, and we ended up wasting more than half the food as the person taking the order failed to not even bother telling us that when you order roti, 2 are served.

Even the menu is retarded for not mentioning that when you ask for a roti, they serve 2. Even the food quantity was a LOT, and the guy should have told us about it.

They aren't even baby friendly.

Average food but service ????

The name of the restaurant suggested that this place should be tried for authentic Punjabi dishes. But sadly it disappointed me. The situation inside is chaotic. The service is a complete mess. And with the price they charge, the service quality is a huge disappointment. The waiters are clueless and they serve the food as they are prepared irrespective of what is starter, main course desserts etc. The taste is good but its available in any part of bangalore. Overall the expectations in terms of Dhaaba like food is not there. So this place can be avoided.

Highly Disappointing, Feel cheated

Yesterday night we went for Dinner and ordered for a "one by two" shorba as we normally do in all restaurants, we dont want to fill up before our dinner and so we normally order only half. To our surprise the shorba which came was not more than 10 spoons, and I mean it as I counted the number of spoons, additionally it was not very hot as well, we ordered the shorba as it was very cold yesterday night and your ambience has nothing to get cozy.

When I reported this to the Manager there, he said that is the portion they always serve.

When ordered for food, the Paneer had no taste and the vegetables were raw in it. We had our dinner only with Dal. I was refused to be given the feedback form and the Manager also disappeared after I paid for the dinner.

I had heard good things about this Restaurant, but my personal experience has been very bad...This is the second time I have visited this restaurant, but the first time I never had shorba and paneer.

Additionally many open air restaurants give an option to get cozy either by having a fire place or gas burners to provide some heat, but this restaurant left you alone in the coldness of the night...

Anyways, I will never be going again to this restaurant.

Thanks.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING !!

I went to this place today evening as my cousin was treating us on his bday and came back highly disappointed...... and embarrassed for my cousin whose treat got spoilt!!!!! This was my 2nd visit in last 1 year and its still the same. The service sucks... its damn damn slow.... The main course was served in 45 mins(recommend changing their name from Oye Amritsar to Soye Amritsar!!!) and when it came it was COLD !!!!!! We noticed this when we started eating our food. When I told the waiter that the food was cold, he just took the scoops of chicken back from my plate and took to re-heat... this was highly disgusting... this shows how untrained and unhygienic the staff is !! we had plans to order some Indian desserts post our meals but shelved the idea and went to another place to eat desserts.

Made a mistake of returning to this place thinking that the service would have improved.. but saw a sad state of affairs. Thanks for spoiling a wonderful Saturday evening and a birthday treat !! Wont recommend this place to ANYONE now !!!

Guess the management has forgotten a simple mantra -
The total brand value doesn't only come from product but SERVICE is equally important !!

We ordered 3 different kinds of breads but it was next to impossible to distinguish them without having a bite.

Chor Servers

I just returned from dinner with my family at this place. We ordered starters, main course, lassi, chaas, beer. The food was good but we had ordered too much food and barely finished less than half of the dishes.

We had asked the servers to parcel te left overs so we could take it home. My wife was just putting away the parceled food into the fridge and realized the servers at the restaurant had kept most of the food. The butter chicken dish was on 1/3 finished and they packed no chicken pieces and only a little bit of the gravy. The saag and rice was less than half of what was left over.

I am surprised that at a restaurant like this, the servers would pull a trick like this. The restaurant also adds 7.5% service chare on the whole bill. I am very disappointed.

If you are planning to eat at this place please check your parcel before you leave.

Heavy D would like this place (RIP)

Nice place where you can sit upstairs, has a crowd if you're bringing friends or associates so you can at least pat yourself back for the venue, and is tasty Indian food from most parts of the country.

The food is very heavy though - so if you're like me trying to show it off to your mom while she visits, don't over order. If there are four of you, three dishes and a starter are enough. But let's be honest, you will see the variety and go overboard anyways, so just be warned.

Very good food

.. my wife wanted to try this place for quite some time but for some reason we were not getting chance..
finally one of the recent weekends after a tiring day of shopping we decided to end our day with some (hopefully ) good food.
It turned out to be a good decision...
.. the menu had some nice unique non-veg starters (i do not remember the name) which attracted my wife's attention and decided to order the same...
though the waiter first told that the selected dish was not available but after checking with the chef probably made the last one for us :-)))

We forgot to mention the serving as 'half portion' (as it was just 2 of us).. and neither did the waiter asked us (manager please note ...)

so we ended up with 2 full (but nice) portions of starters ...
which we enjoyed to the fullest..

after that there was little appetite left for main course but we still tried out some nice pulao dish

Overall the food was very very good..

Probably there can be some more ligting in the place so that the guests can see properly what they are eating :-)))

Horrible experience, Leaking roof

We (me, my wife, friend and his wife) Visited Oye Amritsar this weekend.
The first table where we seated had a problem with water leaking because of the rain, When we informed the waiter he was laughing and he said he know that there is a problem. We shifted seats and even that table had to moved to avoid getting drenched.

We asked for Rotis as part of our unlimted Roti. They were serving Naan. It was cold and hard to break down. Even after we specifically asked them not to serve Naan they served us cold Naan. The butter chicken gravy was OK. But there were not enough chicken pieces for the price they are charging.

Overall bad experience. Will not visit this place again.

Very heavy food - tasty indeed but quite expensive

Been with family (2 adults and kid). ambience is good and so was the service - quite prompt. Ordered paneer and dal makhani. stuff was very good but was very heavy. Lassi was too good - enough for the whole family. However felt the fare was a bit expensive - starter+subji+dal makhani+3 rotis+2 lassi = 1200. Certainly felt not worth the money we paid for.

Oye,Amritsar: 1 of the best 5 N-Indian rest in BLR

Last weekend at Oye Amritsar ... me, my family, Sr. friend with family and a gen-y x-factor actress colleague...all typical N-Indian food lovers...me afraid... as my wife had a bad taste after a week of fever and usually, as usual..she would not like the food at a new place...that too discovered by me in Bangalore (have disappointed her many times)... my son....the pizza boy...hardly likes Indian food... the fear flavored more with the gen-y x-factor lady and friend...

Playing safe, i ordered salad and allowed others to choose rest of the dishes.. the first bite....everyone said wow....my friend's expressions....lazeez khana...my wife said....bahut achcha...she got her taste back....my son finished the complete roti...daal.... paneer sabzi, aaloo jalfrezi masala...everything was too tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it...

Yes, my friend enjoyed the beer....the ambiance like candle light ... with music and happening atmosphere... we loved it....

The most important thing for me.... did not feel heavy after food...which is usual at many of the restaurants as they add soda... this one was quite soft and soothing... we got full, so could not gulp the desserts...which i heard is sweet queen of the house....waiting for the next opportunity....

Hi opmishra

Thanks for appreciating every bit of food art that my chef could put on your table. I always feel its worth every minute of time at a restaurant when the entire family enjoys it.
One more thing as mentioned by you, the queen of the house was missed and i wish you get time very soon for the lassi, gulab jamoon, rabadi falooda and the best jhelabi made in pure ghee.

Look forward to see you soon and oye for now.

revisited

I revisited this place with my family over the weekend and was quite impressed. The service was fast and food was very tasty and different from the regular north Indian restaurants.

The portions are generous.

Service was good. My only concern was there was no beer available other than KF blue pint. I am not sure if there is some exclusivity with KF. I would prefer having more varieties of beer and also big bottles.

Ok and not good

We visited this place for the first time and realized that this place is over priced. First we ordered tandoori chicken - which was so oily and tasteless that we thought it was a good decision that we ordered half plate. Then we realized better to take recommendation then to order by our own. Their staff told us to try chicken lahori - it was OK and not good. Shikanji was pathetic.
Ambiance was good but 900 rs was not worth.

Hi Iamfoody,

Thanks for the appreciation on the ambiance. I see that most of the recommended dishes did not suite your taste. We have tandoori chicken brushed with ghee to ensure the softness and can assure you that this can be reduced on special request during ordering.

You can surely try the Dal Thadka, punjabi Kadi or the Tawa dishes if you want your dishes to be light. Look forward to seeing you again and assuring that you will have a great Oye experience.

Oye Arrogance

I reluctantly went to this place the other day, first I am not a big generic Indian food fan and Pizzeria next door was full. I didn't expect the food to be any great, and so my expectations were low. So I am not going to comment on the food. My problem was more with the service. So we were a group of people about 7, should have been 8, but one of them was a no show. So they seated us at a table that was big enough for 8, since we thought there will be 8 people. Not a big issue, right. Since there were lots of empty tables when we got there and when we were finishing up. As soon as we were shown to our table, we also mentioned to the concerned person that only 6 of us will be eating and the 7th one will be just ordering drinks. We finished our food and the waiter shows up with a bill for 7 people in spite of the fact that only 6 of us ate. The waiter quite rude explaining to us that he already did us a favor by over looking one show and re-did the bill for 7 people instead of 8 and now he doesn't want to redo the bill and go ahead and charge of 7 people. And he was quite rude and pretended he was doing us a favor. So it's not like we made reservations for 8 people and they had to give up a table for us. The restaurant was quite empty and we were just walk-ins. Obviously he didn't get an tip and I'll not give them my business again. You are obviously not spending money on cooks who can make good food, at least spend money on some decent waiters.
BTW, I wanted to select no stars, but Burrp doesn't let me. I am forced to select 1 star

Bad business practices

I've been to OA couple of times, mediocre ambiance, good location and ok food. Horrible chairs.

That said, this mediocre restaurant warns you of last order before letting you sit and then mocks you. Great!!

After being mocked and the rude talks by the restaurant staff - we had to go to copper chimney in indiranagar and it was completely opposite - good food, good ambiance and warm & courtesy staff.

My last visit to OA.

Update: I see Reshma Baliga replying to all the reviews & representing OA. Reshma, You don't get second chance to bad experience. Word of mouth will be negative hereon. After dinner at copper chimney was over, First thing i did was writer a review about OA. When I've shared good experiences with friends, I should share this as well.

Update 2- Replies to cockroaches are 'We never encountered this issue till date as restaurant hygiene is at most important' - You are clearly saying the customer is lying!?!. I'm sure your kitchen and restaurant must be full of roaches. Burrp should make lists of places with roaches and you'll be one of them.

Confused

I have been to oye couple of times, with a not so satisfactory experience.

Ambience : I think the biggest issue is that it looks extremely artificial. With bunch of north indian restaurants mushrooming all over bangalore each of them trying extremely hard to ape the true north indian dhaba ambience, there is no freshness.Loud paints, funny english has become so passe.
Food : Apart from the regular complaints earlier related to quantity etc, the food lacks authenticity again. As a north indian who has been brought up on these dishes i find the food lacking the original spirit.

The buffet like most of the other options in the city is always avoidable.

crapy place

I visited the place for lunch on 15th May 2011with my and one another family. We had 3 kids as well with us. We ordered some starters and lassi. When Lassi came, we ordered for straw for kids. I was disgusted to see that when the straw holder was put on the table, cockroaches started coming out. We also found that there were baby cockroaches inside straws. We have decided to never go back again. I usually dont write reviews but this was ultimate toforce me to come to internate and write this. Decent Ambience/Food .Bad Service

Was in Koramangala around lunch time on Saturday and decided to visit Oye since it has been on my radar for a long time.

Ambiance is pretty decent, nothing great , the seating would be better with some cushioning.
Settled for a Pint of beer and asked for a portion of Panner Pakoras. Punjabi place with no Paneer Pakoras!!! Settled for the mixed Amritsari Pakoras. When I tasted my first piece of Paneer Pakora ,I was happy that I was not having a portion full of them. Too little batter on the sides meant the panner had gotten fried. The round onion Pakora's reminded me of the Baji's of Tamilnadu and not the Pakoras.

Main course I ordered a aloo paratha and Kesariya malai koftha. When the food came it was a lachha paratha and Kesariya malai koftha. When I asked the waiter he called the Maitre'd . The Maitre'd got in to an argument pulled out an menu and told me your finger was here and not there. What could I do except feel sorry I had choose such a place.Again after i was done with a paratha and waiting the maitre'd walks to me and says can I get the bill . I took the insult and asked for a Nan. The Kesariya Malai koftha was pretty good , except for the fact it tasted a little salty instead of the regular sweet taste.

Overall the service was the big let down . Food was okay, but both the paneer pakora and malai koftha ( I consider bith of them to be typical Punjabi dishes) were nothing special.

Expensive & Tasteless Food

We had been to this place on a saturday with my family and ordered adraki tomato shorba , malaiwala paneer and masala papad but neither shorba was upto the mark and small 6 chunks of paneer were served ( Rs.195/-). Malai Kofta Kesari was having the gravy which I never tasted till yet as it always has kaju based and with a little sweetness but I missed that taste. We ordered Anannas Raita which didn't have curd instead it was ice cream based so I found it not worth spending (Rs. 1500/- paying a vat 14% + 7.5% service charge)for tasteless food.

We had been for team lunch here... thinking it would be good authentic punjabi food, but wat we experienced was not good. Bad experience

I am from amritsar and i am very regular at oye both branches but i had the worst experience till date when i visited for lunch yesterday.

minor issue: Lassi quantity less than usual
Major issues: No one came to serve food after first serving, only 3 small pieces of fish in half plate starter worth 170+tax
critical issues: raada chicken was not tasty at all. I am a fan of oye special raada chicken but this time i had to call the staff as i wasn't happy with it at all. they tried to make it better but it was still very different from usual taste, i noticed thay had added mineral water to the bill after paying the bill. I always order lassi with food and never drink water . After telling him about the mistke in bill, it took them 10 mins to sort out that issue and i had to wait for that.

I have given the same feedback in the feedback form also..

Made my day

I booked this place for my anniversary and then logged on to burrp to find out how good it is. Reviews in Feb were not great and I started thinking. I called up the restaurant and told that its Anniversary dinner and I was offered a cake and Jalebi's on the house. Well, start isn't band.

My wife's 82yr old grandmother also came with us and they obliged to every request made for her. The Methi Makkai Pulaw flew out in 2 min and was served to her. Raita followed with the same speed.

Lassi, Amritsari Mohito was nice. Lassi came in a huge glass, classic Dhaba sytle. The Veg platter for starter was excellent. The lamb Seekh Kabab could have been little spicy but it was good.

We had Kadhi Pakoda, Paneer butter, Lahori Chicken Kheema, Saag and Paneer kofta - dont remember the name though. Lahori Chiken kheema was fine but not great, Kheema had chicken pieces instead of grated chicken. May be, I was expecting Lahori tawa Chicken Kheema that I used to like in one place .. surprisingly in Birmingham, UK. Kadhi Pakoda and Kofta were excellent. Kofta was the best I have eaten in years. Paneer was excellent as well. Then came the Jalebi. Hot and Fresh. That was awesome and can compete with the best. I shamelessly packed some Jalebis and had Jalebis for breakfast the next day. I will surely return for the Kofta and Jalebis.

Bad Experience

The Ambience, decor , posters are some really good things i enjoyed during my visit to the restaurant , rest all was a forgettable experience for me . Ordered some drinks and starters(tandoori chicken) . The starters were just ok nothing great for that price .
For the main course, saw an option in the menu which said unlimited roti/naan , wanted to try that and my partner wanted to try "keema nan" . Here comes the twist , the waiter tells me that the unlimited roti/naan is per head and it would be charged for the no of persons in the table eventhough they dont want that option . I even had to assure the waiter that my partner wont touch even a single roti/naan from the basket given to me as she had a seperate order :-( but he was very rude and gave me no options . My partner dropped the idea of trying out "Keema Nan" and we had to go with the option given by the waiter . I dint want to create much of a problem with him . The rotis were nice , but the chicken gravy dint go well with it , was too sweet maybe i should have checked out with the waiter before trying . My problem rather I dint wanna discuss too much with him ..

Now the bill arrives and I find they have added a bill for "Mineral Water" in spite of me asking for a regular water . The waiter was wondering if he had given mineral water as mentioned in the bill, he goes back and there is a small discussion among the waiters about this , finally they conclude that we were served regular water . He comes back with a new bill , surprise surprise not even an apology from them for their mistake . Overall a very bad experience after a spoilt dinner date .

Noy amritsar & not oye amritsar

Been to Oye Amritsar last week reading a lot of positive reviews (on burp)and didn’t find the restaurant up to the mark.

Lets start with positives:
Ambiance-The ambiance of the restaurant is great…..It is a relaxed lounge feeling especially if you occupy the tables facing the main road .
Well that’s all that is positive about the restaurant.

Now negatives:

1) Since it is dhaba style restaurant ,all food is served in steel utensils. Since the cost of meal is not at par with roadside dhaba, so why not spend some money and use better utensils which give dhaba feeling also and look better.
2) I only tried vegetarian food so am only commenting on vegetarian food. The food is definitely below average.I am a Punjabi and frankly speaking the food is insult to the great cuisine of Punjab. May be OK for people who have not lived in Punjab but certainly not for Punjabi’s.I had Paneer Makhanwala and the panner was a bit sour. When asked for manager,I was told that main site manager was on leave and hence gave the same feedback to the waiter serving us . It seemed from the color of roti that the floor used as now fresh. When told to the serving waiter,he told that wheat roti is of this color only. Well this explanation is OK for people who eat rice everyday but for a Punjabi like me this explanation is of no good.A better version of same is available at Taste of Rampur,Bayleef,Grameen etc …to name a few at definitely lesser cost.
3) Nothing again extraordinary about the masala lassi/buttermilk served at restraurent. The one served in Grameen is definitely much more tastier and very less expansive.
4) The restaurant pricing is very expansive probable among the most expansive few in that area ,but the food quality lets it down.
5) Also I saw some staff(in black suit ) arguing with some guest over some issue loudly This leaves a bad taste and also spoils the ambiance.

My opinion.

Restraurent food is not worth the money they charge.
I think all the good reviews are probably written by management representative.

Good but can get better

I went to Oye amritsar Koramangala with my Friend and her parents last saturday for her birthday dinner. All of us had veg food. I liked the concept of half plate. We ordered the veg ginger shorba which was extremely nice. Also all we ordered a mushroom starter, panner tikka ,baby corn vada kind of thing (forgot the name) . The starters were served very quickly and were extremely well made and tasty.
For the main course we ordered a variety of kulchas and naan and a paneer curry and a stuffed capsicum curry. This is when the service started to get bad. The curry was not hot( tasted good though) and the naan was a little rubbery. Also the waiters were taking a lot of time to serve and even refill water. They veg biriyani that we ordered came to us very cold . We sent it back asking them to reheat it. Even after this it was just slightly warm. ( An advice would be to serve it in a rounded closed plate rather than a flat plate to keep it hot for a longer time )Food should always be served piping hot !!!!!!
It was a good rice dish that we would have certainly enjoyed had it not been cold. I think the serving team get flustered once the crowd starts increasing.
Also i had called the manager and reminded him to arrange something special for my friend cause it was her birthday and he had promised me that he would. But he conviniently forgot this and his assistent apologised saying he was busy. Since it was already late I just left.. If only they had served the food hot it would've been a perfect evening.

Good Experience

Well... I had gone with my parents and more people to Oye amritsar, in Koramangala. The ambience is really pleasant and there is a candle burning at the center of the table and the lighting is very subtle and nice... Well, going to the drinks... I had a drink which was made of Green mango (don’t remember the name, but it was the most expensive one. for 200 or something. Price) It was pretty good... Going on to the main course... I had this dish which had Palak methi cron and paneer... it was scrumptious to say the least. I truly loved it... The service is really good and the waiters are really kind!!! The bathroom is really cool... The wash basin has pebbles... :)

Overall Oye amritsar was a really good experience...

Had gone there 2 weeks back along with my friend. This was my 1st visit, and considering the reviews on Burrp, was a bit apprehensive about the whole experience, which were put to rest immediately.
The staff were courteous enough to escort us to a table. We ordered Chicken Tandoori for starters and we ordered Rotis along with the recommended dish by the steward called Chicken Patiala.
Must say, the food was good and I was pleasantly surprised by it. After reading the reviews in Burrp, I wasn't expecting food to be so good. I do feel that the Chicken Patiala was a bit too oily for my liking.. but I guess you shouldn't expect any less from Punjabi Cuisine :)
Overall a nice place though the ambience could be much better.

Thanks chinesefan and hope to see you renaming as punjabifan. Thanks for all those positive observations. we try to ensure that the food does look appealing and has very less oil. The myth that punjabi food floats in butter and oil has to be put to rest. Look forward to see you and your friends again. Oye for now.

Nice food. Eficient service

Went to Oye Amritsar for lunch on 5/12/10. Guess we must have got there around 1:30 and the place was reasonably crowded and surely must be popular with the Koramangala crowd

I found the decor interesting with the typical lamguage used in roadside Dhabas and most of them are witty. There are enough of them to read as well while you wait for your food/drink. The wait was not too much as well. I ordered a Mint Jaljeera and my friend ordered a beer. I felt that the Jaljeera shoul dhave been less sweeter and lacked a bit of masala

The menu has options for full or half, which I feel is quite thoughtful. We ordered a Half Tandoor Chicken which was nice enough. For the main course we were recommended to go for the Chicken Patiala with Kulchas. The dish which arrived in time was quite tasty with the right amount of spice

Overall it was a nice experience for anyone looking for tasty Punjabi food.

Expensive and cheating on takeaway

The price of the restaurant is exorbitant. We ordered more food and when we asked the waiter to pack the remaining food as parcel, he agreed happily and we had good feelings since we had hardly touched the food(Gravy and dal item). But when we reached home and look at the quantity of the item we had leftover, it was almost half of what we had left over. I told my wife..may be they did not have big enough container. But to my surprise, containers were only half packed and I was wondering where the rest of the food went. Maybe in next guys plate who ordered the same food. So i would never turn up again since I it was not good experience. I had horrible experience with no visible and blocking partition between smoking and non-smoking areas and no clear distinction and all the smoke coming when I was family with kids. I asked the manager about whether he has license or not for smoking area and he told me he has. With the restaurant area size, I had my own doubts and I have rolled the dice to find out the FAR ratio vs public place smoking criteria from BBMP and health department.
All the best and you just lost one customer. But i assure you, i will continue to spread the word.

Food is good but Service needs improvement

Visited Oye Amritsar for a good Sunday dinner with family on 5th Dec'10. Reached at 7:30pm to avoid the weekend rush and the place was relatively empty. We ordered starters and main course together to finish the dinner by 8:15pm and ensure we reach home by 9pm to catch MasterChef on TV. As expected from other reviews the service was slow although there were many servers/captains around and place was not yet full. The Starters came in 20 mins after ordering but the dinner took a full 40+ minutes after the starters were served. When the main course was served, some of the items were cold since it was perhaps waiting for rest of the items to be ready. This spoilt the taste. Also the Bill that came in had some error and was rectified after 10 mins. Although food quality is good, but what makes any Restaurant survive long term is GOOD QUALITY SERVICE, which is seriously lacking here. For any request be it oninos/chutneys the server took his own sweet time. Tomota ketchup never came on the table despite reminders. If u dont have it say u dont have it. The communication skill needs vast improvement too. These are my honest comments and please take them seriously if you have to survive in this cut throat business. Being a foodie myself, I know how many restaurants failed to survive thanks to poor service alone (not cause of food quality). The mail-id of Oye Amritsar never elicits any response ; SMS sent to Oye Amritsar is also not responded. These are small things which you should take care especially in this tech savvy city. Do not rely only on direct phone calls for reservation please. I would visit this place again ONLY if some of my friends say Service at Oye has vastly improved.

Oye Oye..!! Big Oye to Oye Amritsar.

Oye Oye (song from movie Tridev) and there were many more songs which we were singing after having a great dinner at Oye Amritsar, Koramangla.

It was my birthday and I invited my friends for dinner at Oye Amritsar, Koramangla. My experience with Oye started with a phone conversation for reserving a place for 12 people. We were about 30 mins late in reaching and had lost all hopes of finding a table in Oye Amritsar.

To our surprise, even on a such crowded weekend night, the staff had kept a place reserved for us. I was really blown away with the courtesy shown by the staff.

Apart from the courteous staff, the place has a very good ambiance, the walls, various signs and specially the Oye Scooter are just the perfect blend and a great theme. I was so tempted to sit on the scooter and get a snap clicked, may be the Oye staff should allow this, it will be a good memento.

Being in a group of 12 people, we ended up ordering most of the starters. Each starter was better than the previous one and we ha a tough time deciding which one was the Shenshah of starters. There was a chicken starter, don't remember the exact name but it was bone less mashed chicken, slight brown color, reshmi type of thing, which just melted in the mouth. For me it was the clear winner.

For the main course, all of us just loved Makka ki Roti, Sarso ka Saag, Dal Makhani, Butter Chicken, Raita (the one with all the spices), etc etc. In simple words, if you have got taste for Punjabi food then you will just love the food at Oye Amritsar.

The silver lining (I saved it for the last) was the OYE LASSI. I seriously recommend that as soon as you enter Oye Amritsar, you just order your glass of Lassi. That's one huge glass of such a great Lassi.

At the end of the dinner, we all were stuffed till our neck, but what the heck, we went ahead and tasted those Jalebis. They looked amazing and tasted even better.

I give full marks to the Oye team. It is one of the finest restaurants of Bangalore.

PS: The price of the dishes might seem little expensive (not much, but little) but when compared with the quantity of the dish, it is not at all expensive. For the quality and quantity, it is all worth it.

can be better

Been to Oye Amritsar along with office colleagues for lunch. Parking was not a problem and got a table immediately. We were planning for Al a carte but were surprised to find that there was only buffet.

Buffet was not too crowded and there were 2 veg and 2 non-veg starters along with a chat item. Starters were good and tasty.

Main course was decent with good veg and non-veg options.

Best part was the desserts. Amazing kheer and rasmali and vanilla ice cream.

Rotis were served on the table and the service was not prompt. Also, there was welcome drink on the buffet menu which was not served until we asked for it.

Overall I found the food was good, service can be better and definitely overpriced.

Ok Place; Outstanding Service

Having spent a good many months gazing up at the Oye Amritsar sign on Church Street every time I walked or drove past, and telling myself that I must go either there or to its Koramangala branch some day, I was thrilled when I heard that the Koramangala branch had been chosen as the lunch place for our team's offsite. Enthusiastically I drove there, along with a colleague, parked my car on a convenient side street and strolled along to the restaurant. After peering at the colorful Oye Amritsar sign at the entrance, we trotted up the drive and slowly made our way up a flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs, I encountered the "Tolet" sign, indicating where the toilets were located. Ambling past it, I, along with my team mates, walked towards the section reserved for us and seated myself. No sooner was I seated, than a waiter appeared at my elbow and offered me a glass of Chaas. This is my favorite Indian drink and I happily sipped it. A while later, stainless steel plates were placed in front of each of us and we rose en masse, to help ourselves to the buffet. I walked slowly by the tureens, plates and bowls filled with food - both vegetarian and non-vegetarian - but not liking the look of most of what was on offer, soon returned to my seat with my plate only quarter filled. My items of choice were a piece of Bhajji Chaat, which I had taken out of curiosity as I had never heard of this before, a few spoonfuls of Biriyani, a few spoonfuls of Mutton Curry and a papad. The food tasted ok. Nothing to rave about and I didn't go back for a second helping. Instead, I decided to help myself to dessert. This turned out to be Rosagullahs and I enjoyed my portion. Meal over, I glanced idly around the restaurant noting the decor, the paintings, the old bike and the themed corner at the far end of the restaurant, showcasing the poor attempts at English. My view of all I noted though is not very complimentary as, the entire setting - from themed corner to paintings, to bike all jarred with my sense of good taste and style. The music however was quite nice. What really caught my attention and would probably be the leading factor in me recommending a visit to this place, was the absolutely amazing, efficient and discreet service. The waiters were fantastic. They were charming, courteous, smiling and quick and I admired the way they were on hand the entire time, whether to fill up the water tumblers, to bring a finger bowl or to answer a question.

Good food and ambiance, Rest needs to improve

The place serves good food. I have earlier visited their church street branch also, and liked the food.

The food was very good at Kormangala branch also. I liked the ambiance also. This gets them 2 stars.

But my overall experience at the restaurant was very poor. Visited on a Saturday Night. I was told 20 minutes of wait time. The register for reservations was poorly maintained. Finally got a table 1 hour later. But service didn't improve after that.

They took another 10 minutes to clean the table, another 10 to take the order. Another 10 to bring water, and another 10 minutes to bring food.

There was nobody around to refill water glasses, and server was non-responsive.

Finally left after 2 hours and 15 minutes. By the end of the dinner, it was too exhausting a experience to enjoy the food they served.

I would probably be back because I liked the food. But a similar experience as the last one again, would definitely trip me over forever.

desert was good but overall buffet not worth

When we reached there most of the places were empty but still have to wait for 15mins to get seated, that too we went ourself and take the table as the waiter whom we requested for a place had disappeared.
Going to the food:
Makke ke Roti and Saag was Good.
Dessert was Excellent.
but the main course and starters were cold and tasteless - especially Chikan Tikka, Chicken Gravy with only gravy no pieces, and the Biryani was named as mutton Biryani but only rice was there with no pieces in it. Desert was awesome - I can go just for the desert. overall experience was below average.

BAD experiance at Oye Amritsar....BEWARE

Hi ,
We came to Oye Amritsar ,Koramangala for dinner for my wife's birthday on Sep 1,2010.
The restraurent had a valet parking and the valet parking guy smashed our car during the valet parking. On receiving back the car ,I noticed the same.
When I asked for the manager,I was told he was not awailable (out on vacation for 10 days)and they pointed me to Manir Khan (F&B Executive).Initially he refused to accept that this was done by his valet parking personal but later when I stressed on the same he agreed. At any point he was not apologetic and was saying that sometimes mistakes do happen. When I asked him for compensation ,initially he flatly refuses but when I told I stressed he sort of agreed to pay a part of it as I was arguing in the retraurent. But as soon as I went downstairs he flaty refused to pay anything and started shouting. He didn't show any respect even for ladies and was rude and pathethic. Then once police came ,he did pay a part of the compensation and was not at all apologetic.
He refused to give and contact no's of the owners of the restraurent.
This entire ordeal lasted for 1:30 minutes .The restraturent (particularly Munir Khan) also didn't take into account that we had a 4 year old kid with us who was getting un-comfortable.

Another update is that ,I called Munir Khan today and informed him that the cost of damage was more than that they had paid and he disconnected. On again calling he told he is not bothered about the same and started using abusive language.
He flatly told that this is not his problem and the restraurent is here to make money not pay compensastion as accidents like this happen routinely in this restraurent.

My experiance with the restraurent was very bad and will not recommend the restrurent.

Expensive and pretty normal

2 of us went for dinner to Oye Amrisar, Koramangala.

Ambience
--------------
While some may feel that the ambiance is very good, I felt that its just OK.

Food
----------
I will describe about each item

Murg Tikka - Very expensive and the taste is just like any other restaurant. Nothing different. Pretty disappointed.

Mutton Biryani - Expensive. Very Oily. Taste is good though and the quantity is enough for 1 person.

Veg Pulao - Expensive. Very Oily. Bland taste and nothing special for the money paid.

Lassi - Simply superp. The only 1 reason you may want to go to this place. 5 star.

Overall Experience

Awful...

The review title & rating says it all. I took my team out to lunch this afternoon and "Oye Amritsar" was an absolute dissappointment. We opted for the lunch buffet which I found to be overpriced for the variety, spread & quality of food. There was not a single item on the buffet which was memorable. Bad starters, bad main course and bad desserts. Will never go again (for sure!).

Super duper experience!!

First of all, hats off to Reshma Baliga for bringing out such a wonderful restaurant in terms of food,ambience..and everything!!

We had family over for the weekend and were thinking of smthing new to try and came across Oye Amritsar and i can safely say that our experiment was a success!! First of all lemme say abt the decors and the ambience...its was really gud...i particularly loved the posters put up on the way to the restaurant and the humorous stuff written on the walls and the milk tins masquerading as lamps was all different and nice. I loved the cute scooter placed on the deck cz it just added to the zing. I particularly liked the idea of Oye Adda, which is a quiet corner in this busy restaurant if u want to unwind with a couple of drinks, u wudn't even notice the bustle around you once you get there. We were seated on the open area where the benches have been put out...and it was really nice, with the candlelights making it luk really romantic if ur going wid a special some1 for dinner....Now, about the staff, they were really courteous and helped us out in planning our meal, there was this captain Mr.Alister, he was really friendly and made us feel at home.

About the food!!...WAS IT DELICIOUS?? Oh boy, it was esp the desserts, but lemme tell u abt that after this. We started off with the lassi malai mar ke which was awesome, with the malai floating on the top, there is a lot in terms of quantity that it took 3 of us to actually finish the lassi!! Then we ordered the non-veg platter which had everything from chicken to mutton to fish and was quite a feat for even 5 of us as there was a lot of quantity, the fish tikka, methi tikka and tandoori chicken stood out of the platter and were simply gorgeous. The fish tikka just melted in our mouths! As we were looking for spicy option in terms of main course, we were asked to try out the Patialawala Kukkad, Gharelu kukkad and they even made us a special Kadai Chicken which wasn't even there on the menu!!The chicken dishes were really gud, the gharelu kukkad actually bought fond memories of mama's cooking :).We had butter naan's,garlic naans and paranthas, all of which were good, but i think the butter naan can be better considering the rest of the food and how tasty it was. Then we tried the mutton biryani (yes, our family consists of really hungry people :):)) The mutton biryani was nice, but the portion of mutton was actually a little less compared the previously ordered portions. But here comes the best part, after this we were just going through the desserts menu, when someone exclaimed that 100 Rs is too much for a gulab jamun, but after we ordered it we knew that we hadnt just ordered A gulab jamun, but it was "THE GULAB JAMUN CUTLASS" which is the tastiest of all the jamuns that i have eaten, there is this filling in it that is so heavenly that i actually felt there were angels sitting near me!! It was just too good that it still makes my mouth water when i think of it...then there was the hot, fresh jilebis....wow...these are a masterpiece on their own..they were served with some rabdi which made them taste all the more like...i said it before..heaven.We even tried the kulfi...that too was nice but i think the gulab jamun and jilebi overshadowed it.

This is one place you have to go to if u love your food and need a nice place to unwind with your friends or family or ,even if u want to just have the desserts :), im telling you, it is totally worth it!!

Hi Foodaholic,

Let me thank u first to make ur observations into such details and honestly these are things which give the promoters that extra adrenalin to make things better at the restaurant on every visit of our guests. The ambience and the decor is surely a Oye factor for us and is liked by many for it's fusion of the "soul of Amritsar" and the modern thoughts of "theme restaurants". The Oye Adda, The Oye Scooter and the Oye Deck area have been a favourite of many. Thanks for appreciating my team in service and this appreciation

Lip Smacking, Absolutely Delicious food.

Before I begin reviewing the food at Oye Koramangala, let me first appreciate the theme based restaurant on it's ambience. It's perfect , simple yet creative, hilarious and yet very urban. One of the very few that we have in Blore. Great service, humble and attentive staff. Kudos to the management for maintaining such a staff.
It is very clear that I have been bowled over by Oye Koramangala. I have never been inclined towards North Indian food in Blore, until Oye.I absolutely loved the veggies, which is a first. Panner Amritsari, Bewazani Panner , Karari Sheek to name a few, And fell in love with the Chicken Makhani. If only life would be so simple and delicious! and not to forget the Dal. It is to kill for..., Honest to God!!! .
Oye guys were gracious enough to cater Corporate Lunch Pack for us. I had their food for 3 consecutive days and never got bored of it. Infact I was looking forward to devouring it.
All said and done, what is a review without any scope of improvement. But in reality, I can't think of anything right now. When I do, I'll be the first to write it down.
Thanks Oye, I don't have to go to Delhi to enjoy good Dal anymore. Recommended 100%

Well...I went to Oye Kormangala after checking it out in Burrp - my one stop guide to restaurants with review. There were lots of mixed opinions on the food and service and I gave it a try. I personally loved the ambience ...We were given a table in the deck area and with a lovely weather it was just about perfect. Paneeer was one of the best I have tatsed, I loved the Lassi and Bhatti Murg. Maybe a lil too sophisticated for a dhaba ambience...but its a decent attempt...wonder where they got that scooter from.. I liked the service though there were more than 1 who attended to us, which perhaps could be avoided. All in all good food, good ambience, good service and yummy desserts..a must visit for Punjabi food lovers...Phir ayenge zaroor

Pricy !!!! And Poor Service :(

Me and my friend went there last Tuesday for a lunch. However they told that they are serving only buffet. But we are not interested in buffet as we had a decent bfast. Finally the waiter went inside and came back, and told that they will serve menu items, but we can demand only some items from buffet list.

Everything was fine, but 1 dal + 1 paneer + 6 rotis = Rs600.

Dont know how they are managing the pricing of dishes.

And finally a group of waiters laughing a us from a distance.

Guys, food is OK n i can say tasty as well. But money is money. You will get nice and even better authentic punjabi food ( without staring/laughing@u waiters) in Blore.

No wonder "Oye! Amritsar" is always in BITCH SLAPPED! section of burrp weekly mailer.

twice bitten

... first was in a regular 249/- (+ taxes) format weekday lunch buffet which has become the standard for most of the restos in and around K'mgla and elsewhere... food was not good (cause I have working taste-buds which do not lie)... Indus Pride beer pints were inclusive of the buffet... and they might take pride in being all malty and all, but I guess I'll pass... the other option being pinkish lemon fizz-less drinks... I honestly thought neebu-paani can never be messed with; proven wrong...

second was on a Sunday dinner, which we decide to boycott after the starters itself... chicken something soup was basically some dark red-chilli watery prepraration with a few tasteless chicken pieces... mutton liver something starter was foul smelling pieces of as stale as can be pieces of mutton liver pieces; served NOT very generously - thanks for that!

the theme of the place is over the top and the claim (on the menu's first page) that the ridiculously trying-hard-to-sound-funny pieces of art cluttered around the venue are actually sourced from all over India, is zimbly too much!

Great North Indian Food & Great Ambience....

we went for Sunday lunch yesterday, actually we were searching for a Chinese restaurant next to OYE AMRITSAR but the outer decor caught our eyes :) so we went to try it... the inside decor was same as a road side dhaba , the spelling were same as any dhaba on the highway :) we missed our camera :( coming to the food now. we ordered 2starter and drink , it was really great i like the tandoori chicken & the blue island. then we ordered roti & some Sabji it was really very very nice.. nothing that was not nice was the sweet, we ordered rasmalai and it was very very hard as if it was a old stock... over all it was a very nice experience..

Not so nice bday celebration

Went there yesterday for dinner to celebrate wife's birthday. We had few guests with us too. The food was terrible in fact by night started feeling a bit ill too. Everything tasted the same and even the butter chicken was nowhere close to that. The dal was the only saving grace. The service was bad...though there were many waiters around but we had to remind many times twice and even thrice to get few things like lime with starter and ice for lassi. The taste didnot meet anyones expectation and the money too wasted. The restaurant serves small portions and I feel it doesnt justify the rates it charges. Dont think will be visiting again.

Pathetic ! I agree with the previous review!

Just came across this review on Burrp mailer. It was great to see Oye Amritsar Koramangala in the list of pathetic restaurants.Oye Amritsar guys think just by keeping name of Amritsar they can earn big bucks. The service offered at Oye Amritsar can no way be comapred to the service offered in Punjab or Northen India where punjabi food is offered.Beileve it or not me and my friend were asked to leave from this pathetic place by an Oye Amritsar waiter as he said he cannot offer us a seat where we wanted. And mind you..all the seats were empty!!We were aksed to SIT in the balcony where it was raining and all tables and seats wet! We complained this to manager, he laughed on us and said we can go wherever we wanted in Koramangala .We told him if such a service is offered no-one will return to this place as these days people read reviews before trying out a resturant. He said they dont care about that.Till they are earning money they are satisfied. That is very shocking! I myself am a Punjabi and have stayed in Delhi for over 20 years! And nowhere I have seen such a pathetic service and hospitality. These people are spoiling the name of Amritsar and the Punjabi food.!I think such a restaurant should be closed !!

Pathetic service turns you off...

I ordered food and had to wait for long time on sunday. The restaurant had reasonable crowd not justifying the delay!

- Food was severed different to what was ordered & in parts!
- No single person attending the table but many random guys, they did not have any clue about what was ordered and what was already served!
- I had to ask for multiple times for our order!
- It was annoying when the waiter who took the order was standing right in front of me and wasn't even listening to my calls, but just writing something on his pad!
- Food was ok, nothing so great about it.

I am Punjabi and the taste does not even come close to authentic Punjabi!

Ever ordered drinking water in a restaurant & received glasses stinking of egg and when asked the waiter to change, he has the audacity to smell both glasses and say “Well only one stinks, the other seems fine, you can continue to use this one pls..Ha!” Welcome to Oye Amritsar, the most offensive place I have visited.

Am sure all North Indians will agree with me there is nothing as ‘Punjabi style khana’ in this place and the ambience of a so called Dhaba will actually make the Dhaba owners of North pull their hair in amazement & shock.

Food was nothing great, butter chicken tasted like Masala chicken since it was really spicy, Bhuna ghost (mutton) seemed like mixture of rubber and elastic dipped in oil and savored with some strong spices.

Ambience- anything but a Dhaba; Service- after reading my review am sure you would have got the picture; Food- Don’t get me started on that again.

Never u dare pay a visit to this SUPERFICIAL PLACE

This Restaurant, located at Koramangala..6th Block is an INSULT to its sister concern on Church Street. The much acclaimed Paneer Dishes..here,are a complete wrath.Rubbery like texture, and also,,very hard, not at all, crispy or the kind of Paneer that you can expect from a quality place. Coming to Sarso da Sag,well, it was of just average..quality.Not at all, the sort of standard,Punjabis are expected to dish out.The Bhatti Murg, which is truely Awesome at its Church Street Branch doesn't do justice here. It is of ABSOLUTELY SUB-STANDARD QUALITY to say the least. We also ordered one Dal Makhani and a Few Sweets and Desserts. Neither the Quality Nor the Quantity has anything to write home about.Never ever go to this superficial place. Awesome bhatti murg

I had made a reservation for dinner before I went with my wife on sunday. When we entered we liked the ambiance. Got a good place to sit in the open air. I liked the open air concept as Bangalore weather does not require AC all the time. I would like to mention the candlelight dinner part which was good. The Oye people were courteous. We ordered lassi and masala chaas to drink. The lassi was absolutely superb and so was masala chaas. Then we ordered Bhatti Murg, paneer gravy, few kulchas and a amritsar kulcha. The Bhatti Murg was superb and I am a fan. I expected more paneer in the paneer gravy though but I liked the paneer taste. The service was good. When we got out of the place we saw a lot of people waiting for a table, that was the time I felt like giving a small pat on my back for making a reservation.
I would have given 5 stars but due to less paneer in the gravy and to keep some space for further improvement(s), I am giving 4 stars. Overall good place for chicken and paneer food lovers.

Oye No Amristar!

My cousin recommended this place and I thought of giving it a shot. Parents, Sister n her Family and Me visited this place for Dinner. Valet Parking was Ok, what more can u expect from a rude cab driver turned valet chauffeur?. We need to climb up narrow stairs! Not at all friendly with elders and disabled, I am not sure if there are any provisions! If you wanna digest their food, you need to be strong to trek up to your table. In the resto area they have a cavity on the floor and no signs! Watch your Step!. The ambiance is warm, but not natural. The Host is cold, waiters are running around in confusion, literally scratching their head. I had to demand a table for ourselves! Finally we were seated and another 15 mins to clear their confusion of who is going to be serving our table and we get water and menu. Menu looked impressive, but the host had no idea what is what in the menu! All confused. Waiters dont know Kannada? Come'on, just becoz you are Punjabi Resto, doesnt mean you dont learn the local language. You are serving the people here, serve in local language, it a +ve. When I was asked for suggestion and when I gave this suggestion to the Captain, all he had was a smirk on his face!... Going back to the food! No AC and Expensive Food! + Tax + Service Charges for Service you are not offered! and Some new trend of adding 10 bucks for some charity by default! What Scamsters!... Food came in late! For the first time in my life I had Chicken Patiala with Bones! Oye Amristar, welcome to the club of restos who themselves don't know what they serve! The quantity is stingy! Oil Floats everywhere! The dal had 1 inch of Oil over it, in spite of giving instructions for non oil! The Jeera Rice had burnt jeera, imagine the last dish and it spoils the complete taste of ur mouth. Not to forget that the Rotis were equally charred. The pan wala also served bad pan. Overall, please dont go this place. PLEASE DONT GO. I would wish one day they get this place down and see something new, may be BBQ Nation, very ideal location.

Stay Away

A restaurant with plenty of tables free during peak hours on a Saturday evening was perhaps a sign, but we wanted to try this new joint anyway - in hindsight wish we hadn't.

Ambience: the only redeeming factor - although it didn't recreate a dhaba experience, any open air restaurant in Bangalore has a certain charm.

Service: the worst I've come across at a restaurant in this price range. Was painfully slow (took 20min to take the food order) and when the waiter did come, he was more interested in selling us a Rs. 500 platter of starters than in listening to us. Did not seem to care about the customer, and was rather arrogant. Each task was unnecessarily prolonged by the staff's indifferent attitude, and a basic three course meal took 2hrs from start to finish - by which time everybody was exasperated, only to spot we had been billed extra dishes! The icing on the cake.

Food: disgraceful to have the name Amritsar associated with this. The Paneer Tikka was bland and plain (despite a request for it to be spicy). The Kofta was the weirdest tasting dish I've had in a long time. The rotis were not kadak despite requests both the first time and the second. The pakodis in the Kadhi were tasteless as well. Only the daal was about average.

We gave this restaurant multiple chances to redeem itself - drinks, starters, first main course order, second main course order, dessert - yet it shockingly failed to match expectations each and every time.

Your money would be better spent elsewhere. As for the management, their time would be better spent improving this desperate joint rather than defending it online.

Hi Sigma,

Understand that you had a bad day at Oye and i'm not sure what time where u at the restaurant on a saturday so don't want to comment on the tables being empty. Customers love the place and the food and we have no complain on the great business we do on weekends. So we are surely not a desperate joint as put by you but surely are a management who are concerned about what a guest feels on their visit to Oye. We know that it's only the ambience that appealed to you and not the spice in some of the dishes you had. Looks like most

My 2 cents ...not worth a pie !

I recently visited Oye Amritsar! Kormangala outlet (my first visit) ..hmm ..to start with ..Well definitely not Amritsar when it comes to food ! Food is too pricey when compared to the quantity that is being served. Menu was impressive (only on the books). It was tough to decide what you should feast upon. Captain would never try to understand what kinda food you are looking for and would suggest some fast moving items and likewise, i was advised to try my hands at Chicken Pattialawala and Mutton Pulao .. Okei here is the deal ..

Where have you seen in Pattiala an omlet being served in Chicken curry! It tastes awful! Very average taste and nothing good ..Mutton Pulao was just not enough for one person I would say ..

May be the Oye guys should really visit Amritsar or even the food capital Dilli to see how North Indian receipes are really done!

Ambience was good but you just do not go for an ambience !

No more Oye! anywhere in B'lore ..

HI Gaurav,

Thanks for appreciating the ambience.. just to start with the positive side of your feedback. We really feel good that you liked the decor, the theme and the menu design. We also wish to add every item prepared in the kitchen is authentic which includes in house made panner which i can recommend when u are around the next time and very few restaurants in bangalore will ever venture to prepare in house panner. You will know the authenticity of a Punjabi restaurant by just having a morsel of panner and the bhatti murg served.

I hope its only teething troubles...

We went here for dinner last night. Maybe my expectations were just too high. A big fan of Oye on Church St. Was expecting the same loud awesomeness from the Koramangala branch.
There's a lot of things going right here. Don't get me wrong, I rather eat here than @ most other Punjabi restaurants but ...

First the decor. The decor @ Church St has this raw edge to it. You actually feel like you're eating @ a street corner in North India. The decor here seemed a little made up. I think they're trying to give this a more upmarket feel than the other branch. The scooter is nice & all but something seemed missing. It neither looked like a proper upmarket place, nor like a street dhaba. Somewhere in between.

We ordered tandoori chicken & tawa kaleji as starters. The chicken was very tasty but the portions were horrendously small. I have never had any reason to complain about portions @ the Church St branch. The tawa kaleji was tasty but again the portions were minuscule. This dish cost 200 bucks & neither the taste nor the quantity justified the price. And the overdose of salads on the serving dish seemed like an attempt to cover up the small portions.

Guys! Scrounging on starter portions ain't the right way to do things. This never works. All it does is alienate hard core foodies who want some substance to go along with taste & presentation. It really ticks me off when a good restaurant does this. I see that others have complained about this as well. I hope management doesn't come back with the standard jazz of portions being sufficient for 2. As someone who eats out all the time, I am well aware of what sufficient portions are - they weren't sufficient here.

The main course was lahori chicken & butter chicken. The butter chicken was excellent. The lahori chicken sucked big time. I have had the Church St version many times. The gravy was overbearingly sweet - inspite of asking for extra spice. The onion, tomato base felt undercooked & could've done with more garlic.

I really hope they fix some the food related issues. Would be a shame if this couldn't maintain the high standards of the Church St. branch.

Thanks unmesh for visiting us. As you have seen the the Koramangala Oye is the extension of the soul of church street with a fusion element of decor and fine dining applied. The dish Tawa Kaleji you have ordered do come small compared to some of the wholesome dishes like our bhatti murg etc which will not disappoint you in portion size but the tandoori chicken sizes are kept standard just to ensure that the meat is juicy as bigger birds tend to become hard when in tandoor. But the point is taken and we would surely look into this to see what ca

Oye! Mainu wadda changa laga ji!

I was quite impressed with the dhabba like ambiance and the interesting menu card layout. Loved the panner. The vodka based pani puri was not so impressive though. Had a strange taste, which I did not particularly enjoy. Also the seats to the far left of the entrance were a little wobbly on the wodden floor and was a little scary.

Overall good food , good music and a nice evening. Mainu wadda changa laga.

oye no!

oye is an over used word that people have been trained by bollywood to throw around.

having said that, oye amritsar has tried to recreate the dhaba experience to an honest extent. we see this now a days in quite a lot of places where they take the street culture and frame it, and put it all over upscale places. nothing novice, but good enough. so the decor gets a 6/10

we tried the lunch buffet. the starters are part of the buffet line. so you dont get to wait for the waiter to bring. so far so good. there is a good variety of chaat. salad, raita, and chaas for you to relish. the starters we all right, some potato fritters and chicken tikka. the potato was over spicy and honestly i wasnt such a big fan of it. i am veggie, so i didnt touch the chicken, but my friend said it was good.. lets take his word.

the main course was some extra hard nan/kulcha/roti. dudes seriously, if you want people to enjoy your food, make the bread atleast edible. i could have played Frisbee with it. the kadi, paneer subzi, were good. the palak was surprisingly oily. the dal didnt know what salt was. ofcourse i was really pissed off with the roti that i hardly noticed any of this.

i understand that basmati rice needs to be undercooked to retain the jasmine type texture. but to make it so undercooked that practically had 3 gulps of chaas just to push a morsel in wasnt too exciting.

the dessert was good i tell you. the poor waiters were tired of us having a rasmalai eating competiton. the jalebis were fresh and went well with the icecream. i swear i almost forgave the rotis and dry rice for the insane amount of dessert we had.

now comes the hard part. usually in other luch buffets on week days, the bill comes to 200 per person. but get this... we payed close to 280 bucks per person, and i was like ok, would i come here again? umm no...

word of advice to the management...
get ur rotis right.
i dont mind if u limit the desserts, or change to a single apetizer, but 280 is a tad bit much.
please make sure there's salt and the right amount of spice in your food... its hard to maintain the taste from day to day, but a lil taste before u ship it out would be awesome... i really want to give you another chance and visit u guys again... will check this page for updates and may be follow... :)

Terrible

The stairs that lead to the seating area pass the loo and its a bad sign when the first thing that hits your nose as you enter a restaurant is the stench of urine. For all the dhaba decor and the quaint menu, the prices and the tiny portions give you a reality check. The food was crazily salty. I would definitely not go again. Had a hard time convincing the guys to let it go. No point making a fuss and ruining the waiter's day. Its better to write down your feedback, walk out and never go back.

Unsafe Food Served

We had gone to "Oye Amritsar" in Koramangala. Ordered number of dishes worth Rs 2,000.
All the dishes were below average in taste and quality. One of the dish -Dal Amritsari, which was serve absolutely spoiled, literally fermented. When complain the staff and management attitude was casual. Ask to talked to Owners, again none info forthcoming. Totally "Aisha Hota Hai, Chalta Hai business". "Too Nahi to Aur Sahi, Bahut Bakre Hai Is Duniya Mein"

I would not trust their food anymore but would like warn people to be very careful with this restaurant.
I personally won't step foot in this place nor recommend to anyone.

I am planning to complain to Consumer Care Department, Food and Health Department.
