Oyster Bay Seafood Restaurant & Bar Reviews

My fifth visit at Oyster bay .. and disappointed

I am a keralite, and being so im a good admirer of the taste of the ocean. I had been to Oyster bay many times (4) earlier, but this time i had the dinner buffet, and it was a different experience all together.. I was really disappointed with the food this time..
1) With all my experiences earlier, i really enjoyed the starters Crab + Prawns and other veggies too. But this time, there no crab, and the prawns was something like a manchurian category. I never felt the "prawnishness" in the starter.
1.1 ) I asked the service guy, why the crab is not there in the starter, he said, we stopped it. However, when the captain came with the bill, he said he could have arranged it if i had told him. How the hell do i know about this feature though.
2) The Crab Curry :.. Even though the crab starter was not available, the curry was there, but i felt the quality of crab as very bad, just felt as it had been out of the ocean for many days. The click wasn't there when i tried to take the flesh out of the crab.. the entire shell was juicy.
3) In my earlier visits, i did taste a good array of sea food salads, but this time, it was also absent.. i felt all the salad stuff was mediocre .
4) The apple gelly.. the apple gelly which was part of the buffet, was too hard to chew, and hence, i was disappointed about this also..

These are only a few i could remember from my last visit... I had actually, shortlisted this restaurant as my first choice for all my occasions to celebrate, but now i have to think twice. I don't know whether i will have the same tasty food again from oyster bay for my next visit, so i am forced to take off Oyster Bay from my list and look for another sea food restaurant. I had filled the feedback form just keeping everything as in average, just because, i am sure the feed back doesn't get mattered in to the taste of food... I wish the oyster bay could have retained the quality and taste...

Excellent Seafood!!!

The 1st thing you will notice when you enter the place is the ambiance. It is excellent and gets even better during the IPL season as you have a huge screen playing the Live Match. All this adds to the mesmerizing smell of seafood which greets your nose when you enter. The prawns, Fish and Crab taste exquisite and if you are a seafood lover this place is an excellent VFM.

Tasty Oyster

The food here is great I had my lunch here and enjoyed it to the fullest.
I ordered for Arabian prawns & raw oyster with red wine which was fantastic,
later had Pulao with squid this was also good.

I would recommend this place.

Should improve a lot

I had so much of expectations for this restaurant . Just the starter prawn , Fish and chicken is good rest all are not up to mark for quality (starters all are good) .Main course is not good except fish curry . Non-veg salads are pathetic .I had lot of expectations on squid .But it was a great disappointment . Ambiance is good and good service also . But lots to improve in terms of quality and taste .

Food could be better. Service was great

Had the dinner buffet. The chilly fish was awesome - the fish was very soft and succulent. The crab dish had a strong, slightly stale seafood smell, but the crab itself was ok. Some of the prawns were overcooked but quite ok. The seafood biryani had some rings which I think were squid rings, but no prawns - which I was looking forward to :) However, the service and the customer attention was really great. Even when we mentioned that the goan dessert was not suited to our palate (and not that it was bad or anything), the chef came out and listened to us and explained the dish. Liked the coffee pudding though. Also had the Norwegian salmon which was a bit overcooked but otherwise the taste was good and the veggies were really tasty. So the food was a mixed bag, but the service was great.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for visiting Oyster Bay. I apologise for the crab dish and assure you that appropriate action will be taken. I have already spoken to my Chef and asked him to look into the same. The seafood biryani usually comprises of squid rings, cuttle fish and prawns, sorry you found only the rings and missed out on the prawns. We ensure that both are equally balanced in the dish so that our guests can enjoy both.

However I would like to thank you for appreciating our service and for taking time and writing this gre

Poor show, excess PR

Went here with rather high expectations after seeing so many starry reviews! Looks like a lot of PR activity is being done here to give 5 stars when the place does not even deserve 2! Tiny prawns which my grandmom used to use in her prawn pickle doesnt not make for a great seafood place! I can understand that Bangalore does not receive a fresh catch but these people claim to get fresh catch that actually leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Smelly crabs make for a lousy dining experience. Un-informed waiters makes the experience all the more worse! This place is best avoided

Great starters and desserts

The Saturday lunch buffet here is great! Yummy starters - prawns and crab were exceptional. The fish starter wasn't great. Fish didn't seem fresh.
They have a good main course spread as well including 3 non-veg and some seafood pickles.
Lots of options for desserts and they tasted great. Right from pastries to cheese cakes to Indian sweets to Payasam to puddings to ice creams...the list goes on!
Ambiance is nice and service is very prompt. Overall a wonderful seafood buffet experience.
Priced at 527/- (all inclusive) this is worth it.

Excellent Food.. Gr8 Starters

Hi,

I visited this restaurant along with a 17 of my friends today. Although the ratings were pretty high in burrp, were expecting an average food and nothing gr8. The reason being, the forgettable experience we had at the highly rated Barbeque Factory in Koramangala. But we were in for a pleasant surprise at OB.

We were offered a complementary welcome drink for being a large group. The non-veg starters were simply gr8. The provided barbeque fish (i guess that's what they called it :) ), chilly prawn and crab fry. I must say all these were simply great. The waiters were very prompt in serving and they were always asking people for needs. Everyone got so busy enjoying the starters that we almost forgot about rest of the buffet. Since most of our group were non-veggies, the veg- starters came in after sometime. They also did not disappoint. I particularly liked the chilly paneer and aloo tikki.
Even-though the starters in itself was too filling, I decided to explore the Main course menu. It had more options for the vegans. I liked the veg chettinad and potato blast with sauce. They also had pickled tuna and prawns which were gr8. I had to wind up the Main course little early: reason is below.

Then we were in for a bigger surprise. The desserts!!! Few of my friends had already skipped their Main Course and started with the desserts :).Simply put : "The cheese cakes were good. The carrot halwa was excellent. The kheer was the best of all." Also they had two kinds of ice creams, jamuns, chocolate cakes and kiwi moose.

Altogether its one of best buffet I had in blore. I understand the pricing is little on the uppper side. But if you consider the fact the Sea Food is always costlier in bangalore, this unlimited buffet actually works out to be VFM. IMO, they should look into a few things like providing roti/nan for Main course and improving the quality of soup. But otherwise the entire experience was very pleasant and filling.

Hoping to comeback soon.

Thanks,
DK

Very Tasty Sea Food!... NO OTHER CHOICE!..

My last visit (of total 3 visits) to Oyster Bay (OB) was on 19th May 2012, when my uncle came to Bangalore from the USA. Very nice and tasty food with lots of starters as usual. Staff were so attentive and served sufficiently. My uncle complained about the floor as he felt that was unclean; later came to know the design of the flooring is so. I wish the management to take of it to give some pleasant look to the restaurant. Last week when we visited (first visit) Barbeque Nation (BN), we had to recall the experience with OB as BN put all of us in a messy surroundings with lot of noise and left old age people to wait since the grill starters were ready. I am not comparing the two as both serve uniquely; anyhow I wish to say we do prefer OB out of all restaurant which we tried in Bangalore. I have recommended OB to all my colleagues atleast to try once.

Decent Seafood Buffet & Wonderful Service Staff

The staff at Oyserbay was so helpful & was extremely attentive to my little kid who was really making jingle over there. Seafood starter was really good (chicken – Very Good, Paneer – Excellent, Prawns – Very Good, Fish – Good, Crabs – Good, would have been very good if we had time to crack the shells). Main course was not so impressive but couples of items were really good including deserts. The ambiance isn't very fancy & some portion of floor was under re-constructing.

Overall, value for money with decent food & with the management who cared about the customers :-)

PS: Amex card discount was not considered for Buffet Bill :-(

Mediocre

I was out with my friend to try out something different and thought of going to Oyster Bay after reading all the rave reviews. Being a weekday the place was literally empty. But that is the same with most of the restaurants in Bangalore. The manager felt a bit sheepish by that fact and told us that the place is usually packed on weekends.
Regarding the food the starters were not bad. The crab starter was good. The main course was pretty average, the salt content in some were a bit more for my liking. The desserts were not good and the ice cream was very runny.
To sum it up the ambience was ok ok and the food is just average for a buffet costing 500.

Great place to dine!

I wanted to eat a lobster from a long time so my sister took me to this restaurant on my birthday.
We had prawns and squid for starter. The portions were very good and filling.
I had a 250gm lobster for the main course. It was delicious! 2 of my friends and sister ordered a thai fish main course and baked oyster. The portions for main course is very small and not filing how ever the taste was splendid. The oysters were the sea bed category i assume as they were really strong in taste. I liked it but my friends did not.
For desserts we ordered rum soaked gulab jamun and tiramisu. The gulab jamun was very tasty but i did not like the tiramisu.
Over all, the experience was very good. Very Attentive service and they let you dine in privacy. I will definitely go to Oyster bay again. Keep up the good work. My birthday is a memorable one, thanks to Oyster bay!
Just one request would be to increase the portions in the main course dishes!

Decent Lunch Buffet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last Sunday me with my wife and two kids went Oyster Bay for Lunch, Restaurant Was Crowded and had To wait for a few min to confirm my Seats, Truly When the Prawns Reached my table I felt worth waiting, the staff was so courteous that they keep on serving prawns and Fish to our table which I was expecting, My wife enjoyed their Paneer and some crispy Baby corn Starter, the chicken kebab was equally good , They Disappointed me without Serving Crabs which the steward somehow managed to serve a portion to my table.
Although our appetite was partially full with Starters, we moved to the Main Buffet we found good spread of Salads, I was fascinated by their display of cooked seafood which an Bengali Waiter ?(By accent) Explained as we can make our own salad which I tried, but ended in mess but good try. Without Spoiling the taste we moved to the food Buffet, a Excellent spared of Vegetarian Food out smart their Limited Non Veg Selection .Biriyani and Fish Curry was Excellent which i tried, wife enjoyed her veg selection and kids played around with pasta and Chocolate (which they called as chocolate fountain).
Dessert Decent Spread Nothing Exceptional
Verdict
Good:
Should visit Place for seafood lowers
Value for Money
Bad:
Crowded no moving space in Buffet Area & No scope of second picking
AC Not Effective
Less Selection of Seafood in Main Course.

Team Dinner= Trip to the Emergency Room

What was supposed to be a gathering to bond our team had us taking tablets to prevent vomiting and acidity. While one of us had to be rushed to the Emergency Room for he was going through anaphylactic shock, others were left with headaches and coughs the next day.

Even the small bit of ambience that we tried appreciating was ruined by the loud blaring sound from their TV. If I wanted to watch a match, I would go to a sports lounge closest being dug out(right above) and not Oyster.

It would have been a truly bearable thing only if the food hadn't harmed us. Taste secondary. I wish they had atleast marked out what each of the dishes in the salad bar were. Especially if you are serving "RAW" squid and shrimps. I believe its a Kerala cuisine, not Chinese!!!

My advise to them, put a "Caution before you eat" board in front.

Smokes n wrapes festival a different experience

I went for dinner on 6th with my friends. They were having a festival smokes and wrapes. I thought it was a very innovative idea. We were served with smoked seafood n basil soup. There was 8 starters. Chicken and spicy smoked squid was severed in skewer in clay pot with charcoal. Prawns wrapped in basil , fish in banana leaf were excellent. They had spinach. Wrapped cottage cheese cigar , grilled baby corn wrapped in Chinese cabbage leaves , achari cauliflower n char smoked pine apple chunks. By time we finished the starters we were full. They had good speed on both veg n non veg salads. The chicken biriyani was the best , they had a fish curry and seafood makanwala. They had aloo gobi, malai veg khuruma, panned matter and another few more vegi dishes. Had good spread on desserts n the best one I liked is betel leaves flambé

Device was excellent. Over all web all really enjoyed smokes n wrapes. Keep going

HORRIBLE! worse seafood experience ever!!!!

Based on the reviews we decided to try out Oyserbay and by the end of the evening it turned out to be the bad decision. We decided to go ala-carte but they were having a ‘smoke and wraps’ festival and we were told that they would take a lot of time because everyone was busy with the buffet! We should have taken that as an alarm and walked out but (unfortunately) decided to try the buffet. The prawns was overcooked to the point of being inedible and the other shrimp starter was almost raw! The rest of the starters was below average at best. For the main course they had just one fish dish – red curry fish! And the mix of chicken and mutton and various veg dishes didn’t even compliment each other! The evening ended on an even more disappointing note where the dessert table had only name tags with over half the desserts missing – when they finally put some dishes out – they were either undercooked to the point where you could taste the egg or maida depending on the dessert. Overall very very bad and only hope that it was because of the ‘special festival’ that was going on- nonetheless @ INR 900 per head this is not a place I would ever recommend to anyone.

Good food but pathetic service

Me and my friends went there for the dinner buffet (smoked food festival) on Feb 4th.
They provided a menu with the list of items that will be served on the buffet.

The waiter said starters will be served on the table. After serving the soup a vessel filled with charcoal (smoke chamber :)) was placed on the table. It had around 6 chicken and prawns in skewers. To be frank both were tasting really good. The 6 skewers din last even a minute for 6 of us. After that no one was bothered to refill the skewers. We thought to take some salads before the next round of starters. When we came back after taking the salads we found the smoking chamber missing from our table.

there was hardly 2 any second servings. We had to repeatedly ask the waiters for a refill. Out of the 8 starters mentioned we saw only 5.

Main course and desert was also tasting good.

Verdict: A good buffet that we couldnt enjoy fully.

A Good Buffet- For sea food lovers

On the whole food is good esp sea food-crab,fish,prawns. The items could be better, bit on the richness of the food. Deserts were good with the white chocolate fountain.
Overall- good !!!

Good Buffet Spread, but still can be improved

Visited on November Last sunday, (2 adults + 1 kid).
Pro's
1) Prawns were really good, Veg starters are also good.
2) Main Course were really(Chicken items were really good)
3) Dessert, Choc fountain were too good.
4) Only the adults were charged, free food for the kid.
5) Staff were really helpful(in getting dishes, suggesting good dessert for the kid)
Con's
1) Even though, its specialty seafood buffet, Fish, Squid were overcooked(starter, squid, Fish curry)
2) chicken starter was really small and lots of bones( My opinion, if its planned as bite size, better to be boneless)

I am not sure, whether i can try again or recommend to some one.

Can avoid with below average experience

Final judgement: Can easily avoid.
Comment: Did not meet any of our expectation

Decided to visit the place after reading reviews and reading about the imminent people behind the scene for this restaurant from the website, but extremely disappointed.

Reasons:

Quality: Any of the fish / prawns / calamari served was not fresh nor close to fresh for sure. Texture says it all. Specially calamari and fish was nothing close to fresh.

Quantity: A tandoor fish platter the highest priced and the dish couldn't suffice 2.

Value for money: Tandoor fish platter priced 800 + service charge (5%) + service tax + vat had quantity which couldnt suffice 3 people as starter.

Service: Suggestions from the waiters were absolutely monetary focused ( every suggestion was the highest priced in the menu ) absolutely intruding waiters in a rush.

Ambience: Reasonably good.

Alcohol: Normal priced.

Feedback: Accepted and taken politely.

Good point: The feedback was taken in + ve and acceptable note.

Us: 2 bengali and 1 malayali :) - native sea food lovers and sea food has been staple food for 25 years in our lives.

P.S note: The +ve reviews are biased for sure. :)

This is great place for seafood. Another good thing what i liked with this place is they have both indian n cont dishes. Been with my colleagues so all of us could order food to our taste. I Had a lobster from their display , grilled in chermola sause. Had a seafood biriyani for main course. I enjoyed my food throughly. All my colleagues also enjoyed what they ordered. I like their ambience and the service. Keep it up guys and will be back soon

Very average place and costly for 350 bucks( weeke

Dont know why everyone is giving great reviews for this place..was mislead by reviews on burrp and visited the place about a month and half ago. Starters was crab and Fish. The crab was not cooked property ( it was liquidy inside - Gave feedback to management) and both i and my husband hardly ate.The fish curry did not have any taste and the prawn was definately not fresh, they tasted just like the frozen prawns you get in super markets . SInce the place was run by malyalees, was expecting more but the food is not half good at what you get in Kairali or coconut grove( as in the sea food)
The only thing i liked was the kerala porotha and the cheese cake and the chicken deep fry was also ok.
Went out of the restaurant feeling irritated and unsatisfied.

I would say waste of money for 350 Bucks. rather spend that money to order as many Karimeen(fish) frys and crab masalas as you can eat from Kairali and go home happy :) or add another 200 bucks and go HOG on yummy grilled prawns and crab( fri nights) in BBQ nation!

Seafood treat !

We went to this restaurant because my wife loves seafood. I saw great reviews on burrp. I sure was not disappointed.

We went for the weekend lunch buffet. Started with Zucchini and seafood soup. Then went on to starters. Pepper roasted crab, Reef Cod fillets in nice spicy dressing, Mushrooms and Fried potato wedges. They serve starters and soup on the table.

The main course was good also. The prawns curry was fine. Loved the curd rice. The chicken dishes were just ok. Nothing to write home about.

The desserts were a treat. I loved the pink color mousse. There had really nice condiments and salads too.

Though not a big spread, it was worth every rupee because of the excellent sea food. I will go back.

Good food

We were at Oyster Bay this past weekend to try their popular lunch buffet. We booked ahead of time for a 12:15pm slot, knowing they could be busy on off-days but it appeared we would have gotten seats even if we did not. For, the restaurant was only half-full when we had completed our meal. The soups and starters were finger-lickin good; we were served fish, crab cakes and prawns, and good veggie stuff as well. I had wished the main course would up the ante further, but it was not to be - the Alleppey fish curry, chicken, etc were all just about ok. Maybe my expectations were unjust - but the 'Alleppey' geo indication is a personal challenge every time, and if you call it by that name - it has to really match the curry they cook up in that part of the world - don't ask me how I know :)

Also, what was basmati rice doing in such a spread?

As a sidenote, there was a group preparing for a birthday celebration, and this marred our dining experience to a certain extent; with the rogue baloons bursting away and and the sound tests creating an occasional cacophony. My toddler especially took strong exception to this :)

Certainly worth a visit, and especially so for seafood lovers. The service is good and the place is clearly value for money.

Best sea food and with a Kerala touch.

We picked a scampi from their Live Grill for starter. It was served with an assortment of steamed vegetables and garlic bread. Scampi was tender and succulent with the right amount of all the spices. It was delicious!

Their menu definitely had a Kerala touch and we went for the duck roast with Kerala paratha. The dish was not too dry, the gravy was rich and with the parathas it was a fine choice. You can also choose steamed rice with this dish but I think it tastes the best with parathas.

The sea food biriyani was served with raita and fish pickle. The pickle was tangy and tasted good. I would have liked the rice to be a little more rich in spices and the shrimp to be cooked in masala to bring the flavour out.

All in all a really nice place, ambiance is good, we got a nice table and very attentive staff. Chef asked our opinion about the seafood platter which is one of their signature dishes.

Not very expensive for a sea food place and I would go back soon and try out a few more of their dishes like the mutton khorma and karimeen (pearl spot) pollichathu.

All in all a nice place.

decent lunch buffet

Been to Oyster Bay on a weekday for the lunch buffet.

Ambiance is nice and chairs are functional. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant around 1.30PM. I was able to find a table which was comfortable.

Soup and starter was served at the table. Soup was nice and the fish starter was tasty.
The buffet had a dry chicken item and a chicken gravy, fish gravy and sea food masala. The seafood masala was awesome and I went for a second helping.
There were 2 veg starters and 3 gravy including dal. Parathas were hot and were served at the table.
Buffet had salads and pasta.

There was vanilla and strawberry ice cream and hot chocolate. There were few other items for desserts which I didnt check.

Overall there were 3 sea food items - one fish starter, one fish gravy and one mixed sea food masala. Can have more sea food options in the buffet.

Service was good. Overall experience is nice. I paid 311/- for the lunch buffet including VAT, service charge and service tax.

Neat Buffet

Wanted to try Oyster bay's buffet since long, atlast got the chance on EID.
Had high expectations on sea food when i visited their buffet. But i was disappointed.

Reason : There was only one starter in seafood, which was just ok.
But the pepper chicken was Awesome, the right mix of ghee and pepper.
Veg snacks also were quite good!
Soup was ok.

Salad's were decent.
Main course was not elobarte, but it was good.
Good choice of desserts!
Service and ambience was quite good.

Reason for me rating this place as good is, not only this experience, i had been to this place earlier and tried quite a few and the experience was really good.

One improvement for Veggis sake : i really do not know how it is possible in seafood resturant, the aromas of seafood are Little strong and scare the veggie's away....:)...if it was meant to be that way fine, else it would be good to do something about it.

I am gonna visit this place again!!

Awesome Online Service

I am planning to go to Oyster Bay for the first time today after my wife booked us a table their since she knows I LOVE seafood.

As is my habit, I was trying to go thru the reviews written about the place to see any good dishes I should try and came across these replies from Mr.Thomas himself.

I myself have a food business and I know the difficulty of managing a business like this. For the first time, I have seen a restaurant replying to almost all reviews ensuring that the people were either appreciated or reasoned for giving feedbacks.

Amazing and looking forward to my trip even more now!

I greatly rely on burrp reviews before visiting any new restaurant. By the good reviews and the deligent responses from Philips Thomas, being a sea food lover and a foodie i would definetely visit this place soon eventhough its faraway from where i live. Not many restaurants focus on exceeding customer expectations. Also their website is done wonderfully and the menu is totally alluring. 350+ tax for unlimited sea food buffet and all raves.. must be something!! Hope it lives up to my expectations.

Gills, Claws & Tentacles

2011 emerged with new priorities. I retired temporarily from the Bangalore food scene only to return last Sunday. I could grill & bake better than many restaurants & fixing my own platter fills me with satisfaction. Eluding laziness is pretty tricky as it always comes back with a vengeance. That’s how I was washed ashore the bay of the Oyster.

Two of us reached the much celebrated buffet venue 30 minutes late. Without further delay, the hostess marched us to our table for two. We being healthy people appreciate extra room, hence expressed our desire to occupy an unoccupied seating for 4. We were surprised to witness our request entertained without a second though. Now, that’s what I call as a good output of hospitality education & training. Walls are grayish white with life size photographic displays of marine fauna. Children painted the floor with dessert droppings & the grownups played their part by leaving foot prints on them. Somebody should have been empowered to take the mop :-).

The spread was not extensive; however it was sized to match our appetite. 2 varieties of grilled fish & crab were severed on the table along with vegetable fritters & cheesy cauliflower. The grilled fish was moist & soft. The crab was tender & succulent too. Vegetarian starters were average; however the sweet, sour & spicy carmelina dip multiplied the joy. The buffet table also housed a mediocre, but edible chicken fry & an EAT ME MORE Aloo Jeera. Potato cubes with skin pan fried with a balanced dose of cumin making it moderately crispy on the outside & soft on the inside.

A tiny menu card placed on the table read 300ml of Foster served with the lunch buffet! I ask the waiter in our vicinity “Could you kindly get us our pints?” No Sir! That offer does not exist anymore. Fair enough, but WHY retain expired offers on the table. Having activated the Candida in my stomach with enough starch, it was its turn to cry out loud for more sugar ….“CRAVINGS”…..Now the difficult task is to choose the drink. I liked everything that was on the menu. So, how did I make a wise pick? Beer on the menu is not their brew; I can drink the same anywhere. However the cocktails are ruled by the efficiency of a skilled bartender & the pricing appreciated my choice as well. Cocktails here are INR100 cheaper than most places in Bangalore. The bar menu offers enough depth, be it beer, liquor, cocktail or mocktail. There is something available for everyone.

Classic Margarita (INR250) & vanilla ice-cream based Mocktail Shogun(INR125) paired well with the starters. The buffet also hosted salads & accompaniments like spicy coconut chutney, fish & shrimp pickle, boiled shrimps, squid rings & tentacles. Mixed sea food salad was a subtle delight with tiny bits of plantain fry. Real crab meat would have boosted the richness much better than “just like crab”. Paneer & Corn curry, Chettinad veg korma , Dal makhani, Peas pulao , Pan seared sea food & boiled rice fared better than the BAUs. Half way into the main course my Long island Ice tea (INR300) arrived only to disappoint me. An overdose of triplesec & too much coke ruined the authenticity. The bartender has to do his research & find the right glass for each cocktail. Long island ice tea in a curvy, narrow glass? That’s really an eye sore.

My sudden dip in enthusiasm post the cocktail failure was recovered by the creamy & tangy prawn butter masala that formed a great alliance with Tawa & Ceylon paratas. Pasta seems to be the chef’s least favorite dish. Fusilli Bucati & boiled squid did not amalgamate with the watery basil pesto. A little simmering would have done the trick. The dessert counter had Strawberry & Vanilla ice-cream, dry fruits, Canned Cheery, Wafers & a Chocolate fountain. Spoon a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream; drench it in the fountain & slurrrrrp the spoon clean in one shot.

Marine Biologists say that by 2048 AD all edible sea creatures would be depleted. Anybody causing a cooking wreck with seafood is committing a culinary sin. Sea Food Restaurants in non coastal areas like Bangalore are subjected to brutal criticism, emphasizing the lack of freshness. Common...Who are we kidding? It takes ~ 12-24 hours for the deceased from the Bay of Bengal or Arabian Sea to reach us. The magic lies in the hands of the chef, His/Her understanding towards what is going to be cooked. This reminds me of an old saying “To a capable person, even a blade of grass is a weapon”.

How does Oyster Bay manage to serve such variety of seafood at INR350? Is this a start-up gimmick to attract customers? Or is it a genius unleashed by a strong supply chain strategy? Whatever it is, they surely seem to have a crew that can speak FISH

Not an Oyster, but a Pearl!

We had the opportunity to lunch here today. We had asked for a 12 noon slot but were delayed and could make it to the spot only by 1 pm. The staff are friendly and helpful. The starters are generous, unlike a lot of places where the serving is small and they make you feel embarrassed to ask for more. Since we were two couples with kids, they offered us the more comfortable lounge area. The spread was good and included fish, squid, and chicken in various forms. The garlic chicken was exquisite! The buffet even had octopus. We had to close our eyes, pray that it would not come back to life and then quickly gulp it down! The dessert included ice cream, Jamoon, fruits, cakes, and a chocolate fountain. The kids loved it! An enjoyable place to dine, clearly a pearl among the eateries in Bangalore, Oyster Bay is highly recommended!

Palada in dessert was excellent. Banana in sweet syrup and beetroot halwa added to the variety. But I was too busy with the Palada , couldn't try other desserts. Sumptuous Sunday afternoon buffet

Visited Oyster Bay finally for an early Sunday lunch buffet (actually brunch time). I had great expectations from this place after seeing some wonderful reviews and must say that I was not let down. The buffet spread was very good especially the sea food starters and main course. The Prawns curry, Alleppey Fish curry and Madras Chicken masala were top dishes for me, which were just mouthwatering. The salads had some sea food items and were lip smacking. The surprise is their Dessert spread - Kerala Banana in a sweet syrup and Beetroot halwa were just out of the world. I was very impressed by the quick and attentive service (a rarity these days) and the Sous Chef visiting us to gather feedback on the items he must have carefully chosen and prepared. All in all a great Sunday lunch which I will try visit again.

Not going back here!

Four of us visited this place on a Saturday afternoon - the weekend buffet was on in full swing - two of us chose to go with the a la carte option while the other two opted for the buffet.

The buffet
was a disappointment, there were very minimal sea food varieties. The paneer was tough, the fried fish starter was smelly (obviously some very cheap fish fried and served up), the crab could have been better. We had to remind the waiter at least three times to get us
1) Water
2) Forks, Spoons and plates
3) Soup
4) Beer
5) Our food
6) Starters for the buffet

The service left a lot to be desired - and this completely killed the experience. The a la carte was a little bit of a redemption though.

The menu was expansive - we ordered some Fish dish - lettuce and cheese sandwiched in fish served with pasta in pesto sauce. Was quite nice. The Waldorf salad had a heartening helping of shrimp - again a decent dish if you love a lot of shrimp in your salad. The Bebinca was simply wonderful and delicately flavored - we ordered two plates of it.

The worst thing was when a waiter came up to us and told us that the buffet was not to be shared when we tasted a couple of the dishes from the plates of our friends who had opted for the buffet. A completely cheap move - again, does not speak very high of customer service standards at this place.

Overall, the horrible attitude of our waiter and the terribly messy service killed the experience. We are NOT going back.

Delicious lunch buffet

Had been to Oyster Bay for a Sunday lunch buffet. The manager introduced us to the buffet which was a decent spread.

Starters were unlimited. It was excellent. We had crab, grilled fish with chicken fry. Crab and chicken were mesmerizing. They were spicy and good.

Main Course had chicken fry, prawn and fish gravy and vegetarian dishes like dal makhani, aloo mutter, paneer dish etc.
The salad counter was unique. It had squid rings, small prawns, fish and squid pickles, vegetable pickles and different sauces .
There was also a live pasta counter.

Desserts were okay. It had 3 cut fruits along with some dry fruits, strawberry and vanilla ice creams, chocolate mousse, fruit custard and rasgulla. There was also a chocolate fountain.

Overall, it was a good experience. Good ambience. Service was good. Price was Rs. 350 + tax which comes to around Rs. 427. Would definitely visit this place. It is a must try…………………

See(sea)food like never before!!

Went to Oyster Bay for dinner which was my first visit to this restaurant and must say, with a wide range of seafood available, this is by far one of the best joints for those with a penchant for seafood. The ambience, service, food and menu are simply remarkable. Had Oyster Otang Otang as a starter which is simply WOW!!
flavours of the banana leaf blend wonderfully with this preparation. Also had a look at their live grill which was pretty impressive as are their vegan delicacies too!! For the main course, devoured Cuttlefish Medallion which had me wanting for more, truly delectable. However, the desserts of Tiramisu and Litchee Bavarian were brought out directly from the freezer, hence both these desserts tasted like plain grated ice i.e, tasteless!!... an area which could be worked upon.
Overall, a superb dining experience, will certainly recommend this place and will definitely visit with friends & family very soon.
Team Oysterbay…thanks & keep the good work rolling day after day!!!

Have visited Oysterbay previously and recently visited JAK on 27Sep13, Friday for dinner with friends as it was JAK’s Holy Mackerel festival. Well, sadly, the restaurant remained empty in both the formats.

Have resided in Kerala, I am very fond of the Kerala cuisine and have eaten almost everywhere, covering the local Kallu Shaap (toddy shop) to the Casino at Willingdon Island but nowhere in Kerala would you get such tasteless food as is served in JAK which isn’t a wonder as to why the restaurant continues to attract emptiness.

oysterbay - an excellent experience for seafood

i saw that these guys have made some changes to the lounge area. Great nice one. Food was great the best seafood. . i had a big lobster grilled. Woo too good and had to pay the price. Also had crab from thier live seafood grill . Had a light main course Dal tadka with basmati rice. i did tell the chef that they need to have more vegi choice. I was told that oyster bay is coming with new menu by first week june where they will have lots of choices of vegi both in indian and conti prepartion and exotic seafood dishes like scaloops and caviar. One dish he mentioned was veg casseroll with mush room rissotto. I need to come back and try . i can see these guys are passonate about the restuarent.

way to go oyster bay . i had arranged to go to oyster bay for a surprise treat for my husband . he loves sea food and i love vegetarian . but we hit it off well at oyster bay . we loved them for the service and the warmth and hospitality . our one and a half year old son was also enjoying . they had mentioned on the table welcome with our names . they also brought in a surprise drink with a candle lit on it . wow . the begining was impressive . then the polite waiter assisted us with showing us the catch of the day in the display and we ordered foor . according to my husband , the sea food was yummy and fresh . well vegetarians will not feel left out there.the restaurant is not very crowded ,. so is a great place for people who want to enjoy a quite evening . we ate and drank a lot and stilll the bill was way below what we had kept our pockets ready for .

great show ashok ( the manager).

Lovely Place

My mother suggested that my friend and I try this place out and so, we did. We found the restaurant really quickly thanks to the wonderful directions given by the hostess. Car parked at a convenient parking ground close by, we strolled along to the restaurant and ambled inside. The restaurant was almost empty and so we had our pick of tables. Once seated, we glanced through the drinks menu and ordered an Absolut Vodka with Orange Juice for me and a Cosmopolitan for my friend. The drinks came quickly and while we were waiting for them, our waiter requested that we look at the sea food on display, to see if we would like any of it. He very patiently explained to us each type of sea animal on display and then stood pleasantly by, while we peered solemnly at it all and discussed with each other what we should have. Our decision made and communicated, we ambled back to our table and our drinks. Shortly after, we were served with the Dinner Ocean Platter which we thoroughly enjoyed. The quantity was sufficient for both of us and everything tasted lovely. My friend also ordered a plate of Cuttlefish Medallion which he enjoyed. As a soup, I had ordered a Lobster Cappuccino which tasted better than it looked - though it did look like a cappuccino, just not very appealing. My friend and I shared this and enjoyed it. There was a strong flavour of a soup cube though - Oxo I think. For dessert, we ordered Tiramisu which we also enjoyed. Meal over, we paid the quite reasonable bill and left. The ambience of this restaurant is nice and the food and variety is splendid. The service is also exemplary. Definitely a place to visit again and a place which I would suggest to anyone looking for a good seafood joint in Bangalore.

the best

i went with my friend and wife for dinner to oysterbay. Really enjoyed watching banglore match in big screen and the the food. I do not think such a fresh seafood is available in any banglore restaurents. I selected a loster , tiger prawns and a seafood platter. Lobster and tiger prawns were grilled in south indian marination where as the seafood platter was done with Caujan marination. All of us really enjoyed it. My wife had shark ambotic , my friend had country duck roast and i had greeny pepper pomfret for the main course. The presentation was very good and tase was excellent. We all left very satisfied from oyster bay promising them that we will return with our friends very soon. They have a full fleged Bar . Do not miss Oyster Bay

“Best Seafood Restaurant”

We were taken there by our friends who ate there last week. The wide varieties of sea food here is really fresh and the preparations are truly amazing. The atmosphere is fabulous. we tried their a la carte menu. The soup "lobster cappuccino" was fantastic. my "toddler" liked that !!! :) I spoke to the Chef (I think (not sure :( his name is Mr. Abhilesh) he explained the dishes in detail - good.. was a good experience- . their main course- "drunken teriyaki thilapia , canjun grilled lobster with garlic bread" was mouth watering. nice location, we will recommend this place to my friends , when ever being in Koramangala we will be there :))))

Great experience at Oysterbay !

I loved my experience at Oysterbay ! The ambience, the service and especially the food ! It was amazing ! They had a good seafood spread. we started with tiger prawns and the had a seafood curry soup and lobster cappuchino. The seafood curry soup was seved with complimentory seafood sathay and paratha pitza where as other one had lobster bites and pitza. They had a vast seafood menu. it had regional crusine which had seffod dishes from differents parts of the country. we had a squid peri peri and shrimp sagwala. we had complimentory starch along with our orders which was jeera pulao and steamed rice. Both of us really enjoyed our food and i can tell you thier food presentaion is very special and i have seen in any restuarent in banglore. The bill was reasonable and value for money. The service was good

A let down!

The hype surrounding oyster bay made me curious. Being a huge seafood lover I ventured into Oyster bay with my family. The service was slow, infact we had to ask for the menu cards after 15 minutes of twiddling our thumbs. The beer served to us was warm. The food - lobster bisque was like ground lobster in Rasam. The squid tentacles in pesto sauce was like squid in a pudina chutney. They claim to give complimentary sides with the starters, which is enough to feed a bird. The main course was a tad better. We had jewels of the sea. It was really nothing to write home about. I was disappointed because they had the ubiquitious seafood dishes that I can probably get at any seafood restaurant. There is really no USP about this place and certainly not fine dining.

Great seafood place

I went for dinner last sunday ,quite liked the ambiance – stylish casual dining . Elegant furniture, and excellent (dish) presentation. The menu features close to 35 seafood dishes, besides a range of meat and vegetarian dishes and salads. What a variety on seafood. I looked at the leve grill which was in front of thier live kitchen. It has lobster , white Phomfret , black pomfret and a seafood platter. i had thier lobster live grill in south indian sauce. It was too good. i really enjoyed the lobster. Then i had a soup which is called loster cuppachino. there wasa smal pitza served on the side and also a sathy. The main course offers a wide choice of Indian regional cuisine and Simply Fish dishes. i had a tomato prawn curry and it was awesum. All thier starters and soup has complemontory starches and rice accompanied the tomatto prawn curry. i felt thier platter was so different and i really like the idea of free accompaniments with every dish. i recommend to those of you who love seaffod to visit oysterbay

Dinner in oysterbay

Last night i went for dinner in oysterbay. The Restaurant ambience is very good. it was asolutely clean. i have never seen such a platter. It was tottaly different than what we see in any of the other restaurant. i really liked the look of the plates. I had a seafood curry soup, tiger prawn griiled from thier live counter and then a druken teriyaki tilapia for main course. The food was so good i can say that i never had such a tasty food in banglore. The pricing was so reasoanble and i got free accompaniment of pasta along with the main course. Thier menu had vide choice and they have a full fledged bar

Dining at oyester bay

Yesterday had been to this place for dinner with my family(3 ppl) .We went there for a casual dinner. The interiors are sober. The menu had a good variety of starters followed by main course and deserts. I couldn't decide on what to order. The attenders and bearers are very cordial and friendly. We enjoy eating spicy food so the steward suggested to go for Seafood Curry Soup,Tahini Scented Grill Prawns,Chettinad Chicken Bites,Fennel and Mozarella Grilled Prawns and live grill prawns.

All starters are served with the customers choice of hara bara kebabpotato wedges(complimentary). The quality of food was very good but the quantity served was less. The food tasted pretty good, nothing to complain. But i suggest not to try the live grill prawns because it just feels like cooked meat, very bland and tasteless. The prices seem moderate but for the quantity served, it is actually expensive!! Overall we had a good experience.

Nice seafood buffet

Had the buffet lunch here, it was superb, ingredients were fresh and the seafood on offer fabulous. Its a little different from the regular BJN buffets (Indi joe, anghitti, kansama etc.) in the sense the fare is more focussed on the seafood and the spread on the lines of a home meal(they do have excellent salads, a pasta counter etc.).
What i mean is that the curries are not exotic and have a very familiar feel(Alleppey fish curry, Chicken Chettinaad) and that makes it nice and personal. Sea food lovers shoud definitely check try this. The lunch buffet is Rs. 255+ taxes. They do have a fully stocked bar and the prices are reasonable.
