Amazing

A country bar with amazing music, the country ambiance, great meat food and beer. Plan B is the best place to chill with friends on absolutely any day! There's nothing they need to change except give away the bacon n cheese fries for free if possible when we order about 4 :P

Huge burgers and Great Vibe

Arrived at this place on a weekday night and it was crowded to say the least! Though we were just the two of us, the attendants gladly gave us a huge table for six since no other table was available.

If you are looking for a quiet time then you've clearly come to the wrong place. The only thing louder than the chatter rising from the handful of tables is the music. But it makes for a pleasant, hip, urban pub experience.

We quickly got down to ordering our food and beer. With the pitcher of beer, we went with a portion of their famous BBQ Wings in Spicy Garlic Sauce. The wings were juicy and the thick coating of hot garlic sauce made it a lip-smacking dish. We followed this with Cheesy Garlic Fries and since adding bacon was an option, we went ahead and asked them to add it. Unlike most places that serve Cheesy Fries, Plan B did not spare the cheese. The fries came doused in gooey cheese and bits of bacon that made this an absolutely drool-worthy deal. But the dish was really heavy!

By the time the burgers arrived, we were pretty full. Still, we decided to trudge ahead. The Pigs in A Thermal Blanket was delicious and my partner loved it. I had ordered The Cheese Burger and out came a HUGE burger that took some hard work to wolf down. The burger had two beef patties that were filled out with cheese in the middle. While it was good, I wish I had asked the attendants about its size before ordering it. Totally my bad!

For a great burger and a true pub experience just head to Plan B! :)

Plan B

The food has been inconsistent - the first time I tried the philly cheese-steak, it was melt in the mouth! I loved it! So I ordered it the second time I went, but then it was too chewy.
The barbeque wings were very tasty, and the beer was good!
Service was good as well, and prices are reasonable, I guess to cater to the younger crowd.
The one thing I do not like about the place is the pretentious bouncers and the admission policy. Me and a friend were turned away on a Wednesday night as it was no stag entry. C'mon guys - its a beer and wings joint - 2 things men really enjoy! It seems stupid to turn away clients from such a place just because they are men.
Anyway, I didn't get the logic and haven't been to the restaurant since then. A shame!

Great Starters, Decent Food And Mediocre Beer

Tried out this place quite recently. I must admit the starters are amazing. One of the starters was served with a white cheesy sauce, buffalo something. Finger-licking stuff. I thank my self for ordering just a mug of beer rather than a tower of beer. After I got back home from that place, I was wondering how people there were drinking those towers of beer. I mean it was really substandard, diluted stuff. Doesn't give the beer feel at all. And the service is average.

I would rate it in the following way.

Deliciousness: 3.75 - Food

Drinks: 1/5 They serve KF Tap. Inferior. Besides there are not many options for beer too! Just KF Tap! I usually prefer Corona, KF Blue, stuff like that but anyway really bad place to grab a beer.

Ambience: 3.5/5 Decent ambience with good music.

Cleanliness: 3/5 Our tables were a little sticky.

Quality of Service: 1/5 The guys who serve think they're really cool. This is the first time I ever faced a situation like this. In any normal restaurant, it's up to the visitor to choose a place and sit. Here, when we guys decided on a table, they're like you can't sit there. We were supposed to sit where they wanted us to! And that too in the center. That's totally not acceptable. Poor staff.

For A Perfect Saturday Night!!!

Saturday night, looking for a watering hole that doesn't burn your wallet??? Plan B it is!!!!!!

Visited Bangalore like after 3 months and heard so much about Plan B. Headed there with three of my friends on a Saturday night.
Ordered a pitcher, cheesy garlic fries, potato skins loaded with vegetables and cheese and chicken wings in garlic sauce.

Potato skins - Was okay. Nothing to complain about.
Cheesy garlic fries - LIP SMACKING!!! i personally ensured that there was no bit of cheesy garlic left in the plate. Absolutely delicious. :)
Chicken wings in garlic sauce - Though I am a fish-atarian, this was "to die for" as coined by my friends. (Star of our meal)

We then ordered for one more pitcher, chicken wings in Rum sauce, 2 do not be a chicken burger, one stir fried mushrooms with herbed rice and one chicken steak.

Chicken wings in rum sauce. Was good. This was really spicy . Its just 1 level less than their ABS sauce. But their garlic sauce is a true winner.
Do not be a chicken burger - Big burgers. was good. Not great though.
Chicken steak was good too.
Stir fried mushrooms with herbed rice - I usually don't like the herbed rice served at restaurants, But this one at Plan B was very tasty. All of us kept digging into it. The mushrooms - oh my lord had a hint of sweetness but the cracking of pepper in your mouth is heavenly!!

And hey, awesome service!!!!

All this at Rs 3500 odd bucks. Total VFM.

Service - 3.5/5

Average Food, Awful Service!

Visited Plan B on Saturday, 13th July, 2013 at noon to celebrate a friend's birthday.

My girlfriend and I arrived there and waited for our friends join us.

When they arrived, one of our friends (a young looking girl) was not allowed to enter Plan B because the bouncer at the entrance thought she was under age.
Since my friend was not carrying any ID proof with her, she was asked to take a printout of her Facebook profile page from a nearby cyber cafe as age proof (Are you kidding??).
No, I'm not kidding.

The food was nice and got to our table promptly, but we did notice that the waiters seemed like they didn't want us there (Ever heard of service with a smile?). One of the waiters was especially rude - he had a really bad Afro (like big messy curly hair). He looked like some sort of junky - really messy - the kind of person you wouldn't want serving you food. He actually came over to our table and had a problem with the way my friend was sitting (Seriously??).

Although the food was good, my friends and I were really disappointed by the staff at Plan B.
Won't be visiting again. It won't even be my Plan B, or C, or D.

Beef And Beer And Music

Same menu but change in presentation I guess.

We ordered the ever famous "Juicy Lucy" which is basically, beef stuffed with cheese and more goo.

They've changed the way it was presented. Earlier, it used to be one huge chunk of deliberately brutally sized meat chunk between some really weak and poor buns; not anymore.

Two medium sized goo-stuffed burger patties placed one above the other between comparatively smaller buns was what 'she' was about. Never understood the point of stacking burger patties. It eventually ends up slipping around and creating a mess(until of course, they use meat glue).

The earlier fact about Plan B was: Visually explosive while tasting just about OK which eventually gets boring, but this time, the taste stayed intact and was a much more pleasant experience.

This is one of those "must have" dishes here. And of course, though watered-down beer, always is a good combination with beef :)

Cramped place - costly food

Been on a sunday evening it was over crowded - the beer options were good but the beer was bad , the food is good but felt costly for the kind of ambience it had , not worth it

flat beer, good food

This place has been in my want to try list for some time...main reason, all the great reviews... Got a chance yesterday night and it didn't let down. The place was getting packed with the Friday night crowd when we reached around half past eight. It has got a nice ambiance, playing popular rock songs... bit tool loud if you are looking for a place to chat. And if you are looking for music, it lacks something...hmm bass i think. Coming to the main part.... started off with a tower, but the beer was bit disappointing. It tasted alright but was more on the flat side. Three of us finished a tower and a pitcher and was feeling still kind of sober ! Anyway the better part was definitely the food. Ordered chicken wings with beer sauce, not spicy, very tasty.... French fries was kind of sweet. Chilli Pork was quite good... and finally a Beef Cheese Burger which was awesome... got two layers of beef and cheese and nothing else.. delicious. Overall nice place to hangout and have some good food, if you don't care much about the beer.

All time favourite

Whenever I can get my friends to make the journey to ashok nagar, we have a blast at PlanB.
Nothing quite matches the feeling of seeing that massive beer tower on the table.
The food is always good - personal pick is the coorgi pork curry.

its one place i would love to visit always! great ambiance and good music playing at all times. its for people that don't mind a little noise.
great value for money. i love their chicken wings. go for the ABS challenge.
the main course is also really good for cheese lovers.
leave your calorie counting mind at home before you visit this place.
what i didn't really like was their caramel custard. otherwise the place is brilliant!

Awesome ambience and great food. A rock lover's ideal place.
Loved everything from their beers to burgers and not to forget the yummiest caramel custard I have had in Bangalore. This will no longer be our plan-B but AAAAA.

The new Plan A!

Plan B? They should change the name to Plan A! After numerous jokes about 'Whats the Plan B?', me and my friends decided to head there on a Wednesday afternoon. To our surprise the place was jam packed with college students. The place looked like fun and we had a blast.

Plan B is a kind of place that has an appeal to people of all age groups. The posters on the wall to the random knick knacks, the decor will surely not bore you.

Plan B is a beer bar, serving fresh KF draught beer, so non beer drinkers - don't whine. When it comes to food, it Plan B definitely scores a 5 /5.

They have a big menu (Literally. The menu is huge board!) They have Chicken Wings ( available in 8 different sauces) to Burgers to Steaks to Satays.

We tried the Chilly Garlic Wings, Sweet BBQ Wings, Cheesy Garlic Fries, Chicken Satay, Chicken Strips and Juicy Lucy. The food was tasty and the quantity was ok. Could've been better though for the price we paid.

All in all, Plan B is a kind of place you'd chill with friends rather than take your GF out for a date (not that you can't).

The music is loud and the crowd is lively. This is a better option than Mojos / Pecos.

The only downside - the service is on the slower side. Nevertheless, you'll not mind that.

Food: 5/5
Ambiance : 4/5
Service: 3/5
Value for Money: 3/5

PS: The place is small and gets crowded easily. Be there early on the weekends if you want a table asap.

Other Reviews are Harsh - Austin,TX good vibe

It's a good little pub that has above average bar food. An excellent happy hour to 6pm buy 1 get 1 and a young crowd. Don't expect anything splashy, but the decoration was great. The music was as good as Indians can do, 80s rock. It's a little noisy, but you could still talk without yelling, but definitely a strong voice required.

As far as how spicey the wings are - use caution with the hottest, but the rest are not bad at all, including the "second hottest".

Table to table talk was welcomed and casual. Grant it, I am a caucasian American. I was a little surprised how forward some of the women were, but I wouldn't say that is a horrible problem.

As to negative aspects, the smoking area is small and in front of the door, but the alternative solutions would be much more frustrating.

Pitiful imitation of an american pub

Every time i go to plan b i seriously regret it. i've heard plan b was started by an indian man who studied in the midwestern us - and he tried to bring some of it back. unfortunately he has fallen far, far short of the mark. there is only 1 beer, kingfisher. there are only 2 towers shared by the whole place, so chances are they aren't available. the food, though, is by far the worst part. tacos with ketchup? gross. the burgers are so dry you can't have more than a few bites. i ordered a blue cheese burger (with a warning about how cheesey and tangy it is) and it didnt have any blue cheese! just a thick white sauce like mayonnaise that smelled like bacon bits and made me feel sick. ive heard the nachos are ok but i can't believe it.
avoid!!

Mouthwatering Wings

The one thing I would say is a must have here are the chicken wings. Unmatchable flavour. The ABS (ass burning sauce) is just spicy and not too tasty and is only good for people who want to take the challenge (finish a dozen in 3 minutes and you get a tee shirt and your photo on the wall), but the Spicy Garlic variant is in my opinion the best. This would make my list of top 5 dishes in Bangalore.

Share:

Great food, good ambience

The place has good ambiance and the food is great too. A must try is the Chicken Wings and the Animal burger. They also have happy hours on weekdays. A must try place.

We had the best Pork Chops and Chicken Wings. We also ordered the Crab burger and Juicy Lucy burger. They did take some time to serve the burger (the waiter informed us it would take 30mins). The crab burger was good. On my previous visit i had ordered the juicy lucy and thought it was a bit dry, but this time it was much more jucier..

Wings only

Just got back from plan B, 3 ppl in all. Went in for the most suggested Chicken wings (chili garlic sauce), which agreeably was one of the best wings I've ever tried. Coorg Pork was decent, nothing extraordinary. Main course was bit of a low point, got to know they've discontinued the Pulled Pork s/w. We ordered the Juicy Lucy, Cheeseburger and sausage with beef chili & cheese. The sausages were great, good portions. The burgers were equipped with what seemed like stale/old bread coz it fell apart to crumbles within the first 2 bites. Beef patty was good, but nothing exceptional. We did bring the bread bit to the servers notice, but I guess the loud music (:D)kinda got him confused, and he replied saying not possible. We're not really the types who send back the order to the kitchen. But that's fine, no blaming the server for this. Just wanted to let the guys back in the kitchen know about the bread. I'd go back again for sure, but prolly for the wings and beer. BTW, the menu's kinda increased and changed. Also, the basement parking is not meant for Plan B, so park on the opp side of the street. We were asked to move out vehicles.

Crap in a box

Since when did digging a hole in the wall, filling it with ultra-cheap stuff that you'd pay to give away, and not focusing on basic hygiene mean that you're a restauranteur?
If you've ever visited this shack, you'll know what i mean.
Their burgers and chicken wings seem to get rave reviews but let's be honest - quantity is NOT equal to quality!! and dousing chicken wings in the "secret sauce" which is clearly a whole lot of chilli powder, tabasco, vinegar is a real disgrace to whoever the so called notable chef is.
The good part about Plan B is that it's a cheap drinking joint if you're in the neighbourhood but classy or even Plan A? Sure as hell is not.

Yummy beer cocktails

I was here at Plan B last week and tried out the unusual chicken wings with lemon basil sauce. The wings were awesome, probably better than the regular ones they have. Also, ordered a new beer cocktail recommended by them, the 'Lagerita' which was really good. All in all a pleasant afternoon with friends and good food.

Good place to hangout

If you're looking for a place with good music, chilled beer, enormous burgers and a fun ambience then Plan B is perfect. I went there on a Saturday afternoon had a couple of beers to down the spicy yet lip smacking chicken wings. We then ordered the humungous 'Animal' burger which is too huge for my liking and gets too messy while eating. The service is a little slow, but then if you are coming to this place you wouldn't mind that and is a good thing. I came in a little early so there were only a few tables occupied, but as we left the place was packed with a young crowd waiting to try some of the stuff. They also have the 'Wall of Fame' with photos of people who took up the challenge and completed the task of finishing the monstrous burger and also 'Wall of Shame' for those who tried and did not. All in good spirit.

The plan definitely gets better!

Interesting name, as interesting is the place, even more interesting is the menu. The unkempt walls, all the chitter chatter and loud music makes for a different (in a nice way) ambiance. The cocktailed beer is a must try sided with some coorg pork. A variety of other dishes in all kinds of meat, although most of the veggie stuff seemed to revolve around cheese and more cheese. The prices are very moderate. All in all, go planb!

Good sangria. But..

I've visited Plan B twice till date. The first resulted in me storming away after reading the menu. The reason? There is NOTHING for vegetarians, unless you'd be content with a couple of slices of garlic bread and what I gather is bad lasagne. After that, someone went into a long explanation about how Plan B is about the ambiance and not food but then this someone seems to come here only for their music (live bands on thursdays) and supposedly awesome firecracker wings.

Their sangria is good, like the music they play. Hence the three stars. But seriously, establishing a cult following, having US-ish eating contests and wall of shame in the toilets is all great but to last decades in a city like Bangalore, one must be on good terms with vegetarians. Leaving the establishment speech aside, you're just keeping people away, especially ones who want to catch your live music and have a good time WITH food.

Should we be making plan b's?

We've been to plan b a couple of times, our 1st few visits were fantastic - the food was great the price was very reasonable and we all love the ambiance.
Then it all fell apart a little too soon, my previous visit the food was really quite bad, but we soon forgot about and gave them the benefit of doubt (their chef was probably out if town, who knows?) so we headed there optimistically on Sunday again....
Much of a disappointment it was yet again - all the food (except the bacon wrapped beef - which was good ) was way below the standards that plan b had initially set. The chilly pork was too salty, the chicken burger was not fresh, the smoked pork chops was also salty and without much flavour.
Please tell me that the chef was not well and we'll come back still optimistic!

Really liked this place!

Tucked away next to the more famous Fuga is this almost invisible hole-in-the-wall called Plan B. Surprisingly, it is very spacious and well-lit inside. The music is good, the food is excellent and the service is quick. The crowd was also quite happening, though it did appear as if most people came in by chance (hence the name?). Definitely someplace I'd visit again!

Excellent Burgers & Wings + IPL Fury

Friday night, 6th May 2011 was the 5th time since August 2010 that I've been to Plan B. The place never ceases to amaze me!

The food is impeccable, the crowd great, fantastic management and oh.. did I mention the food?

RCB Vs. KXIP was on the projector screen with the crowd cheering every ball. The beer was cold and the atmosphere was electrifying.

I tried the Animal Burger (there's a challenge to finish this monster burger in 5 minutes as well) and it was juicy and MASSIVE! I wish I could post pictures on burrp so the reader could really see how big this burger was. The dip with the potato wedgies on the side was sweet and rich. This is probably the BEST Beef burger in Bangalore. It also comes in a regular size and is called the "Juicy Lucy".

The wings were moist and covered in a thick tasty sauce. Cooked to perfection and fell right off the bone.

We also ordered a veggie lasagna which wasn't really very good. Nor was the Chicken Steak.

Why this place receives 4 stars instead of 5 would be the lack of parking space (and no Valet) and the substandard vegetarian food.

Plan B is a mecca for red meat lovers but veggies, beware!

Disappointed.

After having planned to visit Plan B for weeks, we finally landed at the entrance of Plan B on Sunday afternoon. I was extremely eager to visit Plan B after reading all the good reviews. My friend and I scanned the well thought out menu and decided to try out Emu steak and pork chops. We also order a beer pitcher. The service was quick.

The beer wasn't chilled enough but then one can't really be extremely fussy about such trivial things. We had almost finished the beer and our food hadn't arrived yet. Finally, our Emu steak and Pork chops arrived.

This being the first time that I tried Emu meat, I wasn't sure what to expect. But the first bite made me realize the meat wasn't tender. In fact, it was a bit rubbery. I couldn't really tell if that's the way it was supposed to taste. The Pork Chops wasn't tender either. I really hope the chef was just having an off day. After having heightened expectation, Plan B didn't really live up to it. Food was over priced.

But we really loved the ambiance and the music. There is surely some scope for improvement in the kitchen department.

One of the best in Bangalore.

A friend recommended this place, and I didn't even give his recommendation any serious thought. I was looking for a good place to eat today and read about the place again.
We (two people) walked in quite late by Bangalore standards (10:10 PM), and started the order with a Beer, and "Lager with Lime". I had a few sips of the latter, and I would highly recommend it to those who don't enjoy the bitter side of beer. For starters, we ordered 'crab sticks' - 5 sticks of crab meat fried in a crispy batter, and served with a sour cream dip. The fact that there was no compromise on the amount of meat felt good.
For the main course, we ordered the smoked pork chops, and creamy sea food. Both were served with rice (and some potatoes etc) which, for once, was really good. Normally, most places serve really bad rice with meat. The pork chops were the best I have had in the country. The meat was cooked perfectly - crisp, yet pink and spongy. The black pepper sauce it was served with wasn't over the top either, and hit the right balance. Creamy seafood was basically prawns, some fish, crab meat (chunks and shreds) cooked in a creamy/cheesy white sauce. Unlike most places that serve the regular "chunks of meat in an ocean of white sauce" , there was more meat than the sauce - something that they should be appreciated for.
We had a second round of drinks, a Diezel (beer with coke), and another drink which was just beer with fruit-juice.
The rest of the menu consists of steaks, burgers (beef, chicken, lamb and pork), and lots of side dishes (wings etc). There is some stuff for the vegetarians as well. The drinks menu is basically beer-mixes - but they are done really well based on whatever I had.
Overall, I had one of the best eating experiences ever. The food and drinks are great, and the service quick. I am not a big fan of a waiter standing by your neck, asking how good the food is every 5 minutes. Thus, I didn't have much issues with the service. The guys are polite, and fast. They took our main course order, despite the fact that the kitchen had closed! I wasn't there for long, but I am going to be in the city for two months, and my office isn't too far. I think I'd be a regular in this place.

Share:

Average Experience

When my friends and I walked in we were pleasantly by the aesthetics of the place and the awesome music which was playing. But soon the opinion started changing as we were asked to sit in the corner with a really tiny table. Water was only served after asking repeatedly and we were on a constant lookout for waiters as we were in the corners. The menu was interesting, though were choices were pretty limited. My friends and I ordered for momos and cheesy garlic fries The momos were dry and not served with the usual chilly sauce. The fries were excellent. And for main course we ordered turkey sandwich, chicken steak and juicy lucy. Both the starters and the main course were DUMPED on the tiny table all together which was extremely weird. They didn even wait for us to get started with the appetizers. I had also asked to parcel pandi curry, which too was immediately given to me while i was still having my course. Overall the food and the ambiance was great. The music was amazing.,. But i think they took Fast Food to another level all together.

Chicken Wings!! :D

Considering the name of the place and it being located opposite Fuga..This Place was indeed a surprise package..

Have been there more than a couple of times..and must say, Plan B is a very aesthetically done with Stripped walls, wrought iron+wood furniture and some old-world interesting pictures on the wall..Thats what makes you feel, this place is one of the many pubs mushrooming around the block..

But but, the Food is indeed a game-changer...The spicy Chicken wings is not for the faint hearted..have to agree THE BEST CHICKEN WINGS i have ever had..Try it the next time you there.

The Beer is OK and what really counts is that as its a new start-up, the owners (One of the partners) makes it a point to drop in at every table to say a Hello..Nice..

The Service is OK not great.

All in all, if you a foodie, then would definitely recommend a visit for the Chicken Wings, but otherwise do drop in if you around the block..

If you haven't been to this place before - get down there now. The first time I walked in there the atmosphere was what I would expect - great ambience, great layout, friendly (and spunky) staff!!

Highly reccommended.

Good ambiance

I liked the ambiance of the place and the variety of beer cocktail they have. They have a wide spread of non-vegetarian snacks. Good to relax and unwind after a long's day's work

Fingerlicking Food,Awesome Ambience,Just Right :)

Time to rely on the PlanB's of our lives and this new really cool restaurant proves that.
Situated in Castle Street close to Brigade Road and M.G Road -heart of the city, this cozy place is really welcoming with a smart and friendly staff and the owner making sure that all his guests get the best service and always in his toes and that gives an additional great feeling to the already great ambiance.
Coming to food -Finger licking delicious is what comes to my mind first and worth every penny of it.The pork fry and the spicy chicken wings were truly finger licking good and went really well with the Shandy :) For the main course we(myself and my mom) ordered the mushroom steak and peri peri grilled fish, the mushroom steak was well made and just right and it was served with good portion of saffron rice and roasted potatoes and the grilled fish was quite liked by my mom in fact the food was so good that we overate today and that left no space for the chocolate monster with ice cream which i so badly wanted to try but there's always a next time :)
And next time i want to have Sangria with my steak :)

Keep up the great work guys all the very best.

Recommend this place strongly for great food and great ambiance.

I will surely visit this place more often yet to explore the rest of the menu :)

Definitely should be Plan A!!

If it was Black Cadillac for old Bangalore, it's Plan B for the new Bangalore. I was there last week and much to my surprise, it's one of the warmer, cheerful and 'makes you feel at home' pubs....somethings that's amiss in most of the places one frequents in this city. While one only gets to drink beer and (very interesting) beer based cocktails, the overall package with the food, service and music would make me go back for more delighful evenings...While the place may be called Plan B, in my list of options for an evening with food, friends, beer and music - its Plan A!!

Awesome Beer Cafe

The ambience is truly International Mexican Kinda. Enjoyed their snacks & chilled beer. Though I am vegetarian but my friends loved their non veg stuffs. I vouch for new places every time but this is the place to go again & again to have a real good time with friends after a hectic working day.... Very conveniently located @ city centre with a lovely international music.... Keep Up

Do visit the place guys & I am sure you gonna have a great time.

Thanks Nittens for the lovely review. We are working on adding more vegetarian food on to the menu so nobody feels left out:)!

Americana in Bangalore

Forget mediation and tapas(not the spanish kind). You can reach meat-lovers nirvana with one bite of the amazing Juicy Lucy at Plan B.

Great ambiance, good beer and AWESOME food. A slice of Americana. Pub grub that rivals menus at famous pubs all over the world.
