The Magic of Indian Food

Had a weekend lunch at Rajdhani Thali with family and it was a scrumptious meal to have. Cannot believe that I gulped down so many spices and fat in the form of ghee and still wasn't feeling heavy. This was certainly the magical balance in the food that made every bite so good that I was craving for more. Mutter Paneer, Rajasthani style was very new and equally amazing. Desserts were the best part of the meal. Kaju katri with Kesar peda and basundi ensured that we conclude our meal on a luscious note. Waiting for another chance to pounce on the food again!

Wholesome and Satisfying.

It is quite rare for me to visit an all-vegetarian restaurant. But after weeks of eating too much meat, I found my tummy craving for some veggies, which is when I decided to try out Rajdhani. Being located right opposite my apartment, I have tried all the restaurants in my vicinity but just couldn't muster up an appetite for Rajdhani.
Now that I have eaten here, I have made it a point to visit more often. The Maharaja Thali (Rs.445) is what I had and it really is a spread fit for maharajas.
Butter milk and Badam milk is what you are served first, followed by all thirteen katoris on your plate being filled with different gravies, rotis and deserts. They also offer some rice preparations, for which I had absolutely no space. I was telling a friend the other day that the most amazing part of this meal is that no two gravies taste the same. All of them have a distinct taste and a unique preparation to them. My favourites of the thali were the small and ridiculously tasty Aloo parathas, the roti with jaggery and butter on top (can't remember the name), the Karhi, the paneer, dal, the jalebi with rabri and the amazing service. The staff is so alert that I didn't have to call on them even once, they willingly explained every dish in my thali and were so generous in their servings. The ambiance of course is one that is exclusive and unique only to UB city, fabulous!
Pity it took me so long to come here. I am going to have to make up for it now.

Lovely! Yum!

Slurp! Yum! I've been here many times and will be there in the future too. But today I relished the raw mango dish they served! Ooooooh! Yummmmy!!!
One question! Why do they make such tiny puris and fulkas??? I have to eat like a dozen to fill me up! Lol!
All in all the food and service gets full points!

Absolute Treat for Veggies

This place has been a hit with everyone in the family. Grand mom to my 3 year old niece. The courteous staff, simple decor and the super-fast service is a real experience in itself. The food is really filling and tasty. Been here for lunch and dinner a couple of times and recommend this for a fun and tummy filling family time.

Amazing Rajasthani Food

Last evening I relished over some amazing Rajasthani food with my family and all of us were simply bowled!! There’s this Rajdhani Thali outlet at Phoenix Market City that my mom had been quite eager to visit and last evening we finally did! I must say, right since we stepped in till we walked out, we were pampered like Royalties! They’ve adapted the Indian tradition of welcoming guests with an aarti and tilak, which I must say is damn sweet and warm. We all walked in and this sweet gentleman welcomed us with an Aarti and then applied tilak on all our foreheads. To me, it felt so homely!

Then one of the men there guided us to our table and had us all seated. Another fellow came in with a bowl like structure and a jar of water. He made us wash our hands to be clean before we begin eating. Everything later just followed… being treated like Royalties, like I said. We dint have to ask for anything at all. They served us, sent in the second serve as well, all so smooth and clean. I was just sooo overwhelmed with their service but more than that, I just can’t stop appreciating the food. Everything placed in my dish was simply finger licking!! The flavours and taste of the authentic rajasthani food was just amazing. I loved the Farsan the most, yummy sandwich dhoklas and samosas, oh wow! I can still feel those flavours playing with my taste buds while I write this review. After this mind blowing dining experience at Rajdhani, all I have to say is, you guys made me feel like home in the truest sense and made me relish my food in the truest sense again!

The food wasn't bad, I think that's the way Rajasthani/Gujarati. Just that I didn't like it, I need my food to be more spicy, Maybe you like to serve the authentic food. But many of us who like spicy food wouldnt' come back.

My suggestion would be to offer 2 kinds of Thalis - One authentic and the other a spicy version of the authentic, I am sure you can come up with an appropriae name to attract people like me. You had a good selection of items in the Thali.

So so Snacks and Service

After a longitme, I have dropped into UB city outlet of Rajdhani only to savor the snacks; alongwith my friend.
I am disappointed with the lethargic service: both in terms of serving and cleaning the tables; and OK type of snacks. We have ordered one plate of platter.

Pathetic service, arrogant and careless staff

Had been to this place to grab some evening snacks, the waiters here are least bothered and looked very casual in their approach.
Whenever this waiter (When asked his name he said like Afzal, but in the bill it is mentioned as Mahesh) was called for some refill of raitha or gravy either he used to elope somewhere or completely neglect your request and chat with his fellow waiters conveying a message that I don't care.

When called again you will get a look as if he is irritated by your requests.
Can't imagine how hotel chains like these don't realize the first thing they need to extend is hospitality to their customers, no one would want to be in a fighting mood when having their food, it is really frustrating to see that hotel owners don't take stringent measures to train their staff and take severe actions when they find their staff is erring on the very fundamentals.

Every bill should have a feedback space and there should be a variable component in their salaries which should directly be linked to the number of positive / negative feedbacks they get in a month.

It's high time India gets pure vegetarian food chains where the food preparation and serving is majority automated and we don't have to worry about substandard service from highly demotivated staff like these in hotels.

Had been there on a weekday

The experience was strictly OK, compared to other Rajdhani formats. For one thing, here the ambience is OK given that it's not enclosed.

The staff was also only barely receptive to our needs. For anything specific we wanted, it took at least a few askings to get it.. which made it irritating, especially when one thing is served hot and you need to compliment it with something else.

The staff also didn't seem helpful or interested.

I would say this is really bad compared to other Rajdhani formats in Mumbai, Pune AND Bangalore (Whitefield)

Good spread!

Amazing, authentic and awesome!

I got to visit this place for a treat.

The open space and the setting being UB City was simply something that added to the sheen of the great food which was to be served.

I assume everyone here orders the famous Thali. The food was served hot and with enough options to keep me asking me for more and satisfied! The was simply put - amazing, authentic and awesome!
Can't comment on the cost since I didn't foot the bill :)

If you want veg food, try this amazing authentic Rajasthani deal. I plan to treat my family there someday soon.

A definite recommend to all. Go go go!

I'll be back here.

Summary: Fantastic Rajasthani fixed menu place. An experience. Very reasonably priced (the whole meal was Rs. 325). Will definitely be back.

“It feels good to have my taste buds come alive again.” The remark was made recently by a friend who had come back to India after a sojourn in the States. On the second day of my own return, while dining at Rajdhani, I understood the whole import of his statement.

Rajdhani is located in the uber-swanky UB City mall on Vittal Mallya road located at the heart of Bangalore. The cuisine is predominantly Rajasthani, although I have been told on certain days they also serve the South Indian soul food - curd rice. We dined here on a Thursday evening; the place was not crowded and we got our seats with ease. The table was already set with a large elliptical steel plate containing a dozen katoris. A couple of mineral water bottles were also kept ready (I am not sure if this is the norm, or someone from our table ordered it) along with steel tumblers. After sitting down we chitchatted a bit (we were waiting for a member of our party), and when the hunger pangs reached a crescendo, one of us lifted his hand to start the proceedings.

Immediately five to seven waiters descended upon us with vessels and buckets in hand. With extreme alacrity our plates started getting filled up. The first items to land were coriander-chilly-chutney, tamarind chutney, cabbage salad and a slice of lime. This was followed by dal-baati, a traditional Rajasthani dish consisting of crushed hard-baked bread swathed in delicious toor dal, served along with churma, a laddoo made with atta, if I am not wrong. The small katoris filled up with sauteed okra, karela with raisins, potato-brinjal mash, whole mooing dal, Gujarati kadhi, sweet Gujarati dal, spicy Rajasthani toor dal, fruit custard, moong dal halva, and “Bengali sweet”. The last item was sliced white pumpkin which had been soaked in sugar syrup served with a sweet, creamy icing. Apart from this, we got roti-ettes served with jaggery and butter. Later on in the meal, we also were offered moong dal khichadi, a very simple preparation which tasted heavenly especially with the dollop of ghee. We were also served a refreshing glass of chaas, a swallow of which always left room for more in the stomach.

The array above quite justified my friends comment above, and more. We could sample each of these dishes, and then ask for more of whatever we wanted. My personal favorites were the karela with raisins - a bitter-sweet delight, the dal-baati (which I had to order another serving of), the khichadi, and the fruit custard. I couldn’t eat the halva fully, and the “Bengali sweet” was just oh-my-god-my-head’s-spinning sweet (Thankfully, my partners in crime didn’t think so and helped themselves with my share). All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and hopefully a harbinger of meals to come here. Ah! I am glad to be back.

It our pleasure to know that you loved the food and quick service provided by our Outlet Staff. Your feedback is valuable to us as it motivates our staff to strive hard to serve

Great food, great service

The thali at Rajdhani is as good as it gets when it comes to eating wholesome vegetarian marwari food. Especially for a family that doesn't relish onions and garlic in their food, Rajdhani is an ideal choice.

Because it was a Sunday, we had to do some waiting. The person attending to the waiting list was doing a great job getting through it without getting hassled by the many enquiries he was being subjected to. When we did get a seat, the service was as we expected - quick without being rushed. This is not the place you go to to spend some quiet time with your girl - these are for hungry families who will stop to talk only after their final burrp.

The thali included the samosa, gatte ki sabzi, aloo tamatar shak (curry), vegetable subzi, dal, kadi, kheer, jalebi, a variety of rotis, khichdi, rice, papad, and for the southies, curd rice. I am pretty much sure they don't have curd rice on the menu up north.

For some reason, there was no dal bhati today. I always remember seeing it on their menu. Sad, felt a little cheated. There goes a star from the rating! To be a little more greedy, can we have khir sangri as an option. Love that dish!

The waiter who served us the khichdi - great job dude! People like you redefine service and customer experience.

The weather was lovely today and just right for outdoor seating. The wait was worth every minute.

Burrp! And next time, I would like to savour a little bit of dal bhatti when I do that.

Nice Restaurant

I loved the food here..especially the sweets. But due to the small service area and always being overcrowded during weekends, service was average. I had to wait for ages to get some of the items. The menu is highly skewed towards sweets. The location is an added advantage..also the fact that it is a pure veg restaurant. It was a refreshing experience, but a little tweaking of the menu can help a lot. A great place to enjoy food, but better to go in smaller numbers. The place just cant handle large groups.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from the Corporate Office of Rajdhani Thali Restaurants.

We thank you for your feedback and have also noted your comments on service and menu.

We shall bring it forward to our Maharaj and our Outlet-Manager to cross check on the taste of items served and to ensure full balance in sweet and spicy towards delivering a complete authentic Gujarati and Rajasthani Cuisine.

We also shall do a cross check on the Service standards and ensure no lapse in our quick service irrespective of weekends.

Stingy serving sizes

The vegetarian fare had nothing great to write about.
The portions served by waiters were so stingy, that we had to ask the waiters multiple times to refill the food items in the Thali. After a while this gets embarrassing, and we stopped calling the waiters.

And we are all a skinny family, so it's not like we are big time eaters and consume enormous amounts of food.

Definitely not worth for a second visit.

I suggest to the management to either increase the prize of the Thali to approx 450-500 rupees or to increase the quantity of the food served in the Thali.
Quality of the food is nothing much to rave about and was just average.

Better bet is NH8 food in Tippasandra, indiranagar or Chowki restuarant, they serve wholesome food with more options and definitely better, although, of course, they are not in the "upscale" category restaurant.

However since this has lead to an awkward situation for you at the restaurant, we apologize for the inconvenience.

There will be an immediate service check done at the restaurant

Thank you for reviewing my comment. I agree that food wastage should not be happening, but that does not mean that customers should starve , and feel embarrassed when asking for refills.

You can definitely look at increasing the price per Thali, though, of course folks will object to this as well.
But definitely I look at food quantity and quality when going out for a family lunch or dinner outside.

Good Food, but a little rushed meal.

If you go on a weekend, the restaurant is pretty crowded and you cannot have a very peaceful, relaxing meal.

The food is good, much better than the Rajdhani in Central, Jayanagar.
The service gets poor when there is a lot of rush, we did not get lassi/chaas on a Sunday and had to wait a bit for some of the curries.

My suggestion, avoid on weekends.

Simple, tasty food

At a time when every other restaurant in Bangalore serves tandoori chicken, paneer pasanda, etc. it is refreshing to eat at a restaurant that serves simple Rajasthani/Gujarati food. Primarily vegetarian Thali is served here. I have enjoyed the kadi, buttermilk, bajra roti and the different vegetable preparations served as a part of the thaali. In this type of cuisine, you would find jaggery in quite a few dishes, but this adds the uniqueness to the cuisine. If you expect a 'standard North Indian' fare, having the afore-mentioned dishes, then this isn't the place for you. Go if you want to try a different cuisine and at the same time, want to have something simple for a change.

This place takes the cake for manipulating the quality of food entirely!i am guessing why it became popular was because it offerred omething new and different at a time when continental and italian restaurants were becoming a passe.but the whole point of this restaurant looks like a hogwash.
the curries taste pretty much the same.the only ingredient of addition or subtraction seem to the jaggery in every item served.the kichdi is so bland that it looks like only the color and the fluidity is just what qualifies it to be called so.absolutely flavourless.
the pineapple halwa and the rasgullas that were served as optional desserts tasted equally bad.only i was in a hurry to point out to the waiter that the pineapple halwa had a rotten smell and the rasgulla tasted like it could churn up a storm in my already wobbly tummy.
this place is a total injustice to the appetising cuisine of rajasthani food.

Not Upto the hype .. :(

I had heard about this hotel a lot so i decided to celebrate my birthday party. The food was O.K but not special except some items which were common like paneer, dahi wada etc. Overall i found this place food + ambience not worth the cost it charges i.e Rs 325 (that too for pure veg ) . However the service was quite good. They may improve in 2 ways making price more reasonable and improving variety types as well as their taste .

The best Gujarati food that I have had outside Gujarat is available here. Try the awesome jal-jeera,bakris,aamras,samosas and kadi-chaval. I visited this restaurant in May 2010 with my mother, aunt and uncle. I felt that it's as good as Rajwadu and Vishalla, a thousand miles away in Ahmedabad.

• Thali only. Cost : Rs.300 (approx)
• Unlike in the website, the food is served in Steel plate not copper/mud , food is not that great.
• North Indian food served in Café ambiance.
• Best part: Getting your hand washed by someone ;)
• The name of the food is told bfore it is served.
• Don’t miss: Samosa,
• Don’t eat : basundi (too sweet)
• To enjoy the view, go in the evening before the crowds come in .

Well!! Well!!

It all depends, what you expect from this place. Well what you get is:

1- An excuse of a Rajasthani fare
2- Chaos
3- Confusion
4- Unorganised service of food

5- A place filled with indescreetly loud people with no basic mannerisms.

I would never again recommend such a space to waste Rs.300 approx on trash experience. I would rather enjoy a good, satiating, pleasant meal at probably...Nargarjuna

If they had served me traditional Rajasthanu fare, I would have been much happier... but this was daylight cheating.

Probably that is what the crowd wants, by the look of it.

Ok Place

This was the chosen destination for the quarterly company-sponsored lunch for our team. I arrived at the restaurant and sat down at one of the two large (many small tables joined together) tables reserved for our group. There was already a glass of butter milk and a glass of some other liquid at the place where I was sitting and I settled down comfortably in my chair, to drink both. The butter milk was lovely. The other liquid (I have no idea what it was), though cool and refreshing was not to my taste and after a few sips I left my glass as was. I then proceeded to wash my hands over a bowl with water from a jug held by an obsequious waiter. After that, the waiters served each of us our meal. First came the starters - raw mango pieces, a Gujurathi snack called a Dhokla and another fried snack, along with two chuntneys. I ate the raw mango pieces and the fried snack, along with the very delicious mint chutney and after a tentative nibble at the Dhokla and the other chutney, left both items relatively untouched on my plate. Next came the main courses. In no time at all, the seven little stainless steel bowls on my large stainless steel plate were filled up and after popping three different types of Indian breads (rotis) on each of our plates, the waiters left us to enjoy our meal. I didn't enjoy mine very much as I am not a fan of vegetarian food however, I did manage to eat two of the rotis (the third had too much ghee on it) along with a little of the contents of each of the seven bowls. My favorite item out of all the seven was the curd curry and I ate all of this. Then came dessert - a choice of rasagullahs, mango pulp (called aamras) and something else. I chose the mango pulp as looking the most appetising but didn't like the taste of it. Oh well! I then decided to drink another glass of butter milk and that over, my meal was complete. My impression of the place is that it is in a lovely location - the Piazza of UB city and there is a delightfully cool breeze blowing as it's an open-air restaurant. The service is quick and efficient. The waiters are polite, knowledgeable about the items they were serving and, well mannered and the maitre d' came across as a very pleasant person who, when I happened to catch his eye, hurried over to ask if all was ok or if required something. The food is good in terms of both quality and quantity but to my eyes, didn't look very exciting or appetising. I cannot comment on the authenticity since I have no idea what constitues a full course Rajasthani meal. The crowd looked like a normal office-going crowd (well it was lunch time). This is not really a place for a relaxed meal but, it is definitely good for a quick and filling lunch. Despite giving this place a rating of 4 (on account of the service, location and quantity and quality of the food served), I probably would never return here again, since for me, enjoyment of the food served and artistic presentation of the food is as important as the ambience or location and the service and I didn't really enjoy the taste of most of the items on my plate plus they weren't artistically presented hence, would not want to spend money here. It is fine certainly for a one time visit at least and an excellent option if trivial things like food presentation don't matter.

Poor customer management

Rajdhani is the most popular restaurant in the UB City campus. It is also an aberration - in the sense that it is a far more affordable restaurant than each and every one of the other restaurants out there

If anyone staying or working near Kasturba Road is looking for an all-veg option and also a quick-serving one, this is the place to head to.

Do head there, though with the following cautionary notes in mind -

a) You will have to wait for anywhere between half an hour to 2 hours. I have heard some of my friends waiting for more than that, but believe me the food is not worth the wait
b) The food arrives in a strange order. Sometimes, you get the sweets first and then you may even get the same thing again and again
c) You land up eating what is available rather than what you actually like within the thali
d) You need to bear the presence of other customers - either those who have been made to wait and are forced to hover around a potentially soon-to-empty table or customers on the next table who are dining and are too close to you anyway

Overall, some parts of the food is a saving grace. Nothing else. Nothing more

The waiters are pushing for you to eat and get out of the way and accommodate more guests. Avoid if you are looking for a slow, good meal.

Expecations WERE high!!!

went to rajdhani today...There is a fixed thali which comprises bits of rajasthani , gujrati , and south indian which is a good idea for a place like bangalore.. menu changes everyday, well most of it i believe.. now about the food..nothing to be awe of.. the gravies were... 1)aaloo gravy with coriander...okay..
2)lasoni sabji-good 2)green moong dal...remembered the mess food in delhi..3)kadi a yogurt gravy ...it was nice, but i have had better.. and a sweet dal which i will ignore..4)large puri ,small puri , roti etc...
then came the khichdi which was a moong dal khichdi tasted more like a pongal...good fusion i believe..
the saviour was the desert..friends i can say the pineapple halwa was the best i had till now..other sweets were good..
thus it was a overall satisfying expirence but expected a little of fine dinning also which was absolutely missing..

A different and a pleasant experience

I’ve been to this place thrice and I would have to say Its pretty good. However, I felt that the last time I went, the food was not all that good from before..
Nice fulkas, Kadi, some starter, couple of sweets, variety of bhaji, some rajastani roti, sweet and sour curries, Dhokla, Khichidi (This one is awesome), rice, rasam and curdrice complete the menu.
Try Dhai vada (starter) which was amazing…
I felt that price during weekend a quite a lot. Otherwise weekdays are ok.
If you are expecting a place which serves spicy food, this is not for you.. A healthy, non spicy, non fat, not too much sweet stuff. Typical Gujju/rajastani food..

excellent

Refreshingly different to the butter chicken/paneer tikka masala serving North Indian restaurants. The food is dominated by Gujrathi/Rajasthani stuff. The thali is enormous, some 10 different katoris for side dishes, lots of pickles, chatnis - the garlic chatni was fantastic. The gujju stuff was not very good - the Rajasthani stuff was awesome. The best of the best for me was the lauki & the khichdi. I probably ate more lauki on my visit here than I have in the last 10 years.
The service was very hospitable (typically Rajasthani according to our friends who're from jaipur)- they kept feeding us to the point where we had to beg them to stop serving any more food. Individual experiences may differ but I found the service to be excellent.
Around 300 bucks a head for a very nice & different experience. Even a hard core non veggie like me loved it.

Good Ambience, Different Food

For a south indian the food here was quite different and as a phulka lover the meal satisfying. They have started giving desserts and mineral water with the meal (i.e. included in the bill of Rs. 600 for 2 people) which was a pleasent change as the meal was quite spicy. Also they have extended the service area hence the place is not as crowded as before which is very good, yet they have managed to keep the service just as attentive as before without unduly hurrying you.

Good thali place

Rajdhani is a decent place to have gujrati thali, Rajsthani thali.
The spread of the food can make you feel dizzy. Its has lots of variety and unlimited food. Though i won't say the service is as good and warm as its at some other rajdhani chain of restaurants.
This place is very noisy too. You can't have a conversation without shouting and talking loudly. Go there just to have food.

Yummy Thali

I went for lunch to Rajdhani with my colleagues. While the Rajdhani in Mumbai has the option of Gujarati and Rajasthani Thalis, the one in Bangalore serve one thali combining dishes from both. I love a tinge of sugar in everythign I eat and so quite obviously favour Gujarati dishes over Rajasthani! Priced at Rs 250, the thali consisted of two farsaans - veg cutlet with channa and dhokla, three dals and four sabjis. The Gujju dal and sabjis were really tasty! Rotis and puris also come with the thali. The khichdi wasn't great. We were given a chocie of three desserts to pick from - boondi, cheeku halwa, and basundi. The cheeku halwa was yum but one could hardly trace a cheeku flavour.

Service was decent. We had to wait a while for the rice to be served. I would definitely revisit Rajdhani. I wish, however, that they have an exclusive gujarati thali!

Lot of room for improvement

The first time I had Rajdhani food in Mumbai, I was reminded of home food, me being a Marwadi, this kind of food was no novelty. However my visit to Rajdhani at Bangalore was more of a let down. The ambience is excellent, but doesnt have the current context. At a rajasthani food joint you prefer having an ambience of Apni Dhani( Jaipur) or Vishala(Ahmedabad) but definitely not of UB City. The variety is decent enough, nothing great(you will get way better variety in any Ahmedbad thalli joints like Pakvan, vishala, rajwadu, etc) but at a cheaper rate. However, considering it at Bangalore, almost 1500 km away from Rajasthan, this is what you can get best out here. For die hard Rajasthani food lovers or for Rajasthani people(wanting for homely food) it is a good option. I would rather prefer Rajdhani at Forum Value Mall, whitefield than this one. The latter being cheaper and better service

Decent food but not worth the money

Recently I had visited Bangalore and decided to go to Food court at UB mall. My cousins had recommended Rajdhani to me so i thought why not give it a try. Concept is unlimited Rajasthani Thali

It was a saturday afternoon and the place was jam packed. I had to wait for 20 min to get a table. Ambiance of the food court in UB mall is really cool. Its open air and it gives you a view of the tall buildings around it and the cosy weather of Bangalore makes it much more enjoyable.

My food was served after a wait of 15 min in the table and i was disappointed as the attitude of the waiters was pretty cold.

Dahi Balla was the 1st dish they served us and as i cut the dahi balla to have my first bite i found a long strand of hair in it. I called the steward and showed it to him, he immediately took it away and apologized for it around 10 times.

The hair in that Dahi balla worked to my advantage, as from that minute the service to my table had changed and i was asked if i needed anything every 5 min :).

Now to the food part, as i have their concept it unlimited rajasthani thali let me list each dish and rate it.

Starters
1. Dahi Balla - excellent ( had 5 pieces :D)
2. Salad - Ok
3. Masala Papad with Peanuts - Good ( Spicy)

Main course
1. Rajasthani Kadi - Excellent
2. Rajasthani Dal - Ok
3.Gujju Dal - OK - ( Sweet)
4. Dum Aloo Subzi - Ok
5. Paneer Dish - Ok
6. Another Subzi - OK ( forgot the name)
7. Small roti stuffed with halwa - Excellent
8. Mini Chapathi - OK ( Too much ghee)
9. Kichidi - Good
10. Curd Rice- Poor

Desserts
1. Basundi- Excellent
2.Milk Poa with rabri- excellent
3. Channa Dal Halwa- Ok - (Too sweet and rich)

Well these are the amount of dishes you get for 260 bucks. Even though the choices are many the taste in not that great. I would rate Kailash Parbhat in chennai higher than rajdhani as it serves better North Indian food

On the whole i would say a i loved the ambiance in UB mall more than the food but yes rajdhani i worth a try for hard core veggies.

Good Thali

If you visit this place for the first time, you will be awe-struck with the experience - everything from the thali to the dishes to the unique fingerbowl are different. The food is OK - you get some starters, then excellent small phulkas and then rice and Daal. The one really strange thing is they carry around 3 dessert in a tray and you get to pick only one. If you try to pick 2 the waiter will pull away the tray and sternly say "Only One". For a place that charges 225 bucks for the thali, they should really let people take as many desserts as they want or atleast not offer more than 1 choice. I noticed a few other people getting pissed about this. Overall decent & different food set in a great open sky ambience at UB City. Worth a visit.

Best deal in UB City

While enjoying lunch at Toscano (next to Rajdhani) one day I couldn't help but notice that Rajdhani was packed with Indian families enjoying huge plates of food. I made a mental note to be sure to come back to UB City and give it a shot since it looked so good.

As soon as we were seated we were treated to a hand wash, which doesn't happen often enough in India considering most foods are eaten with your hands.

As other reviewers have stated the service is extremely fast but I didn't get the impression that it was rude. There is no menu so the waiters are ready to serve the veg thali at once when you sit down. I love when my food comes out quickly since I am always ready to eat! The food was a smorgasbord of flavors and delicacies from Rajasthan and we were able to get unlimited refills of our favorite dishes and breads- so you won't get any complaints from me.

It would have been helpful if a "guide" (and I use the term loosely) or diagram was provided that provided the name and brief description of the dishes served. I'm very adventurous and will dig into anything however, my husband has some food allergies and needs me to taste test things for him in advance to ensure he won't get sick. Also, I would like to learn more about the Rajasthani culture and food so I think it would be very interesting to know the name of dishes so I could order it again.

Overall, I was pleased with the restaurant and would have expected the bill to be much higher since it is located in such a swanky setting (only about Rs. 250 pp). I love dining al fresco and UB City is clean and quiet so I would come back again.

Neither worth waiting for nor worth money!

Pros: Wide Variety of Rajasthani & Gujrati food. handwash was royal.
Cons:too crowded on weekends, u may have to wait for atleast 20-25 mins.
service is too speed, they dont allow you to see what they are serving you its just plop. place is too cramped up.
Some of the sabzi and chapatis were not warm enough to serve.
They want to you to move out as quickly as u can by gulping down food so that next one can be quickly served. you just cant relax and eat with so many people moving so quickly and serving.

Reco:Try chowka instead, on Tippsandra(Indiranagar)

Speed ok, but...

not always. went here for dinner with my in-laws considering this is one of the few straight veggie places in blr (read 'Not Multicuisine'). I'd heard so much about the speed of service and was expecting there to be an avalanche to start with. No disappointments. We had 5 waiters jostling to serve us all the delectable fare on offer.
The food is great - simple, not overtly spicy. For anyone who's eaten in those Rajasthani Bhojanalayas in Pune, this would be common fare.
The only reasonn I'd ding this place for is the cramped room. Even though service was outside with the fantastic ambience of UB City, the garden chairs and tables leave a lot to be desired. For a party of 5, you are 1 odd one out. I'd have preferred fewer tables and better seating. The place has this 'hurry up, eat and move along' feeling about it. Guess its ok for office lunches, but would not suggest it for the relaxed diner. Check the other places in the Collective for a quieter evening.

the most awesome food

What an experience it was!? One of the best restaurants I have been to since coming to Bangalore. Located on an open roof top, far away from the buzzing noisy Bengaluru roads, with cool winds blowing.

A perfect place for an authentic rajasthani lunch. Although there is a waiting time of half-an-hour to an hour before you get to sit in a table, but once you do there is no time wasted. You're already given some lassi, a cup of dhahi pappadi chat, kulcha and cultet. Before you finish them, the numerous small cups before you start filling up and hot roti varieties start appearing before you. They serve really quickly, that to manage you have to keep eating. They keep serving you as soon as eat up your dish.

This is followed by some hot pappu rice with pappad. Within this time, your tummy is fool and you settle to finish with the final desert, to be chosen from a cup of gulab jamun or some rajasthani sweet or basandi or pineaple halwa.

You wash your hands with water from the bronze jug, and you see a new plate and cup set already placed before you. That means, it's time to get up and give way for more people to enjoy this wonderful food.

I highly suggest people to go here, especially with your family. It is less crowded and a bit cheaper on weekdays. They do not have reservations, and hence it better to be there by 12 and manage to get a table within an hour.

Saaru Che!

After reading the impressive reviews about the Gujarathi food served at Rajdhani in addition to my craving for the same, there was nothing that could stop me!
Entered the beautiful UB City Mall (this was my first time there) – one of the most wonderful and luxury malls of Bangalore, standing tall with the amazing architecture and interiors. Spread across 13 acres on the Vittal Mallya Road, displaying the elegant elements of Roman and Mediterranean architecture, adds a feather in the cap for namma ooru Bengaluru!
Decked up in red and white and green, Christmas trees and the people singing the carols with the Christmas furry attire, had set the right kinda atmosphere. To enhance this, there was our very best Bangalore’s chilled weather in the evening! The mall poses only the international brands all over attracting not just the posh and hip crowd of Bangalore, but also firangis.

All the restaurants are on the 2nd floor. The massive staircase and the escalator leads one there and you are welcomed for another surprise. The 2nd floor opens up to an open sky giving a better view to the other towers of the Mall. A water fountain there on the ground level is a huge hit with the kids. Completely in their world, getting drenched and pulling others was their theme of the day!

Thanks to reviews on burrp! We knew prior bookings are not done. So, following others, we gave our names to be called. The lady who was taking down the names was screaming at the top of her voice to call out the respective names to occupy their tables. She was very loud! Really!!!!

After almost an hour’s wait, our names were finally heard (loud by default). We made ourselves comfortable in those chairs and were ready to attack on the food. Huge oval shaped plates with 8 small cups were placed on the table. Immediately, the waiters started serving the food. They were moving so fast across the tables, it was as though we were watching a fast forward clip. There were different kinds of subzis, kadi (sweet), dal, channa, Basundi and a few other stuffs. The hot phulkas with ghee were served within no time. A small bajra roti was served too. They were very quick and this made us eat faster. After the phulkas, kichdi was served with the chilly pickle. Hmmm.. Amazing! There was plain white rice and curd rice too. The chaas was good as well! The meal was rounded off with jalebi with rabri :) I could not ask for more. They cannot see anybody without eating. If you are occupying the table, you need to be eating. Everything they serve is unlimited including the sweets. It was a Sumptuous and a satisfying meal.

The only hitch is the waiting time. We finished our meal in super pace 25 minutes where as our waiting time was almost an hour. The people were hospitable. They apologized for being so fast and requested us to come back on a weekday when they can pay more attention to the customers and the customer could have a more relaxed meal. Its costs Rs.260 per meal on a weekend and Rs.230 on a weekday.

A highly recommended place for the people who love the gujju food!

fast and great food

rajdhani is in the impressive ub city mall.. we went there on a weekday afternoon, and there was not much crowd. seating ambience was nice. we had a great assortments of startrs in the thali including unlimited chat. the buttermilk sure is a quencher.

the kadi and dal are sweet. which is not a usual fare in other parts of the world. i personally was not a big fan. the rajasthani dal, palak paneer, sprout dal, aloo baingan were excellent.

the best part about this place is the rotis. phulkas paratas and puris... just mind blwing. the way the attenders keep putting more and more rotis without asking you reminds me of my mom doing the same. but i am not sure if every one would like that.

the desert was just about ok. over all.. a very very excellent affair with food

Gujarati Thali - Fast and Delicious!!

My father had heard about this place and we decided to try it this past Sunday. We were disappointed when we called ahead and the host said they don't take reservations. What kind of restaurant doesn't take reservations?

Well, Rajdhani doesn't because it is in the open air mezzanine food-court of the UB City Mall. So, we had to wait, although not long because we'd gotten there a little before 1, which is early for the Sunday lunch crowd.

This place is thali-only until 4, when they start to serve from their snack menu. The thali is AMAZING! You're served dals, khadi's, sabjis in little katoris, with ghee-topped rotis and chappatis, rice and khichri. There's chaat and kachoris, pappad and dhoklas. For sweets there was walnut halva (decadent!), jalebis and moti-choor laddoos. And all of this is served unlimitedly.

It was as if we were important guests at a Gujarati wedding, and the servers kept swooping in to dole out more. They weren't stingy with anything - the deserts, the ghee, the curries were served with glee and abandon.

The food was delicious, flavorful but not incredibly spicy. The service was friendly and relaxed.

According to my mom, until we find a Gujarati bride for my brother, we will be back here often!
