Best Veg Pasta, yumm dessert.High class experience

Mediocre meal, amazing desserts, nice beer

The title says it all. Chewy, bland steak. Watery, dal-like "raisin brandy" sauce.
Spoilt my experience.
Starters were not that great either.

The beer selection is fun, though. I had Dead Guy Ale, and it is entertaining and tasty.

But the main reason why these guys get 3 and not 2 is Barbara's Ganache Tart. 2 thick inches of pure solid smooth chocolate ganache on a tart crust! Brilliant chocolate insanity! Thank you Flying Spaghetti Monster! Made me go HURRRR. :D

The owner is a friendly chap, and maybe I should have discussed my choice with him before ordering.

Always a safe fall back!

I am actually quite surprised at the number of dissatisfied reviews. For my husband and me, we always go to Sunny's when we don't want to try anything new. I have always had a really good experience here, no matter what I have ordered on the menu. I absolutely love the fishes and the pastas and of course the desserts. I do hope the people here give it a second chance.

Scared to go Sunny's

Seems like there are more adverse reviews than recommendations for Sunny's. Infact, I think the dissatisfaction among the customers is justified. My wife went to this place with her colleagues for a company lunch because the Sunny's on Lavelle Road was just next to her office housed in UB City. She also reflected similar thoughts such as rude waiters, no interest to serve Indian customers and only want to expect foreign customers, among other complaints. I believe the front desk lady asked them if they had made reservation (which they did not) and also provided some gyan on reserving a table before coming into the restaurant even though the whole place was completely EMPTY! The service was such that the waiters were actually doing them a favor by serving them. A complete lack of courtesy !! And after all this, the food was absolutely ordinary and exorbitantly priced. I was completely taken aback by the restaurant's attitude and I dont think I will ever muster the guts to go there at all.

Excellent food n service!

Sunny's is a place which is very close to home but had never visited. I had read up about it on burrp and used to wonder at the mixed reviews it gets.. It's like a polarizer, either people love it or hate it. But after reading so much about it I was definitely expecting the snobbish service that it's so (in)famous for. Finally one Sunday afternoon I landed at sunny's with my hubby and my four year old. We ordered for sunny's crispy chicken strips for starters. This I had actually ordered for my son thinking it to be a safe non spicy option for the kid who does not care much for flavours but likes crunchy stuff. The starter turned out to be so yummy n flavorful, very different from regular chicken strips..it's got this nutty flavor which we loved and we enjoyed it as much as or probably a lil more than the kid did. After which I ordered for a main course of Bassa fillet with olive n tomato concass and my husband ordered for some cheesy chicken Breast , don't quite remember the name but was recommended by the steward. We were wondering what to order for my son who is allergic to gluten. Initially he offered some pasta etc, but after I told him that it needs to be gluten free he offered to make a kiddie portion of the same thing that we ordered for my hubby with a mound of butter rice. I thought it was really sweet that the guy actually did some thinking n recommended this which he promised the kid would like. Once my main course came in I realised my Bassa was a large portion unlike my husband's main course. And yeah it was one of the yummiest thing I have ever had... The delicate fish with delicate flavours and so light. My husband's dish had these thin slices of chicken breast in a very cheessyy sauce... Again one of the heavenliest cheese sauces I have tasted.. N though it looked a small portion it was quite filling as it was a heavy dish as compared to my fish. When they served the main course they offered smaller spoons for my son and also this guy quickly called another staff to help him get the table close to the side my son n I were sitting to make it convenient for him to eat. I just could not believe that this is the place people are complaining all the while about bad service. My husband declared that this is one of the best services we have experienced ! All in all I would return to this place for their exceptional food n service.

bad service and overpriced

We went without a reservation and they made us sit on plastic table and chair outside, even though enuf tables were empty inside from the moment we can till we left. I noticed that they did this with everyone, as though the waiters get a kick out of treating customers badly.
The moment we sat down, the waiter tried to serve us bottled water, and was already opening the bottle as though that was our unspoken choice. I know this is done at many restuarants these days, you have to buy water - but this bottle of evian was priced at 240 bucks!!! So it is NOT my natural choice, and this agressiveness on the waiters side left a bad taste for me.
The waiters are very undertrained. The menu uses words that everyone does not understand easily, no matter how high society they may be. The waiters are not able to explain the item properly, and i ended up with a dish - i knew i wouldnt like it by just looking at it. If you are charging me 500 rs for a dish, i would like the menu or waiter to be able to explain what i am getting into.

Everything in its right place

Great food! Great service!

We asked them for a customized pizza coz I wanted to split their pizza with a veggie friend. They made it splendidly without any qualms. The pizza was really good.

Do try their Blueberry Creme Brule. It was a little sweet by my taste but it had me hogging until I polished the little china container.

tasteless food & incorrect bill

We went today for dinner for the first & last time. The food is no where near italian with notaste at all. Highly over priced given the fact far better & economic restaurants are in that area.
It was a surprise when we recvd the bill.....first the donation was included without permission on which service tax was also charged. Wat is more alarming is that they round off the bill to nearest multiple of 10. When u raise this issue the reply was this is how we operate. This is illegal & for the first time we have seen in any restaurant. This restaurant should be banned. We strongly recommend not to go to this cheat restaurant ever.

Fantastic food, great ambiance

The food is consistent, menu is extensive. The ambiance is warm and comfortable. The desserts are to die for. Wine list is good and they often have some good Indian wines on the list.

A feature that matters most to me is that they are pet friendly. I have taken my dog there several times and they make her feel very comfortable too.

I love this place and it is an all time favorite. I have been visiting since this place was a hole in the wall, and their growth has not effected their quality. Any day, a great place for some fantastic food and a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this place

average food @ exorbitant prices & less quantity!

Been to Sunny’s last Sunday for lunch. The ambience was nice. As we were the first to come in, the restaurant was pretty calm & quiet. The service was also good. We ordered for an appetizer- Sunny’s golden fried prawns along with other main course dishes. Although I am happy with the main course, my biggest concern was in the quantity of the appetizer they served. Charging 345 bucks + tax and giving you just 4 prawns is truly disappointing(rather shocking!!) At least they should do some justice to the money we pay by increasing the quantity! Given the number of restaurants offering a similar menu at reasonable prices & good quantity I have to think twice before coming back here in future.

Awfull...

We went to Sunnys for my Birthday diner after readng all the reviews and i must say it was a DISASTER. We ordered Mozarella Cheese Fritters for starters, the portion size was extremely small and was very oily. We decided to have another starter and ordered char-grilled mushrooms, and guess what the mushrooms were good but the dressing was only vinegar and it felt like having the pickled mushrooms... Well for the main course we ordered a Veg Lasagne and Mushrom & Sun dried tomoto pasta. While lasagne was bordering on average to poor, the pasta didn't have any flavor at all. Only thing which had the most amunt of flavor was the butter served wth the Dinner Rolls... Oh i forgot to mention the final blow.... Since it was B'day my wife asked the Steward to check if we can get a small slice of cake or something and to my surprise i get a thin slice of frozen cake in some sort of a watery custard which was not to mention Horrible and guess what THEY CHARGED ME FOR IT !!! Ridiculous... My last time ever at Sunnys.

what a shame

We had gone to the Sunnys in Indiranagar recently and what a disappointment it turned out to be. The service was terrible, but then again Sunnys was never know for its service, so my expectations were always low on that account. But the food was below standards. The 4 of us had ordered various dishes as we were all wanting something dfferent. We had a pizza, which was burnt and oily. We had 2 pastas, one lasagna which was dry and my dish the fettucini with sundried tomatoes and chicken was more like a soup than a pasta. The fourth dish was a steak, which was over cooked and no seasoning.

And to make maters worse, while asking them to make the pasta less saucy, the server said thats how they make it. So sending the food back seemed like a pointless routine.

The only saving grace was the desert and the reason why i did give 2 star. The deserts were fine and to the sunnys standard.

I would never recoomed this place to anyone, unless you want to pick up a parcel order of something sweet.

Like Dog: Like Pup

With one foot out the door on my way to leave for NZ to get my MBA done, it is only evident that work collegues, friends and family form the very basis of every meal. Its almost like planning for a wedding: the similarities being you have to eat and drink like every meal is your last one, lest someone thinks you are haughty, avoid looking @ your watch every five minutes planning on your next upcoming engagement, try to endure the same stupid questions over and over again and (in secret) dread if the people you go out with give you something you can live with (like a PR: Ultraviolet) or something you woudn't wish on your worst enemy (like an Azzaro :Chrome :) and the most important one of them all: you foot the bill (most) of the time. And keep that smile working...
One such dinner was what was planned a few nights ago @ Sunnys in Indira Nagar.I wanted to head out to the mother hub ,the one near UB City: but my Uncle (and the long drive and pouring rain notwithstanding) decided if its the same franchise:then they should be up to it.Getting into an argument with them is like telling them each bottle of Ardbeg tastes different (and it beats the purpose).
So I resigned to fate and drove.
The space: It definitely looks about almost the same size as the original one, but you soon notice that the outdoor seating is not as vast and obviously the seating inside has a lot more tables than I remember in comparison. They seemed to have learned well from their days of outside seating. This is more limited here..and well covered too. The Mezzanine ,though, with the bar is a reassuring "carry forward" from the old days. The colors are more towards a warm brown and orange feel as opposed to the all white affair near UBC. Although the chandeliers remind me of some BDSM-styled flick!!.
The food: With Pepe not being able to make it on time :it was between My Uncle,Aunt,my cousin and myself. They have worked on the Food and the Bar Menu. Some of those vast entries related to options on alcohol dont find a place on the bar menu here and the Food Menu has been 'trimmed' like a new gen suit. Gone are the 4 inch lapels and the enormous shoulder pads (I'm getting carried away). They have a smart set of entries for Appetizers/salads/soups,Main course and Desserts. This last section does live up to the original. They also have a small photocopied menu for the 'quick choices'.
So Aunt and Uncle Split a tom yung gung soup (with their eternal love for indian chinese!),My cousin got some steamed wontons : chicken and I chose melon with parma ham.I was asked to pick something to drink with this. I was delighted to see that a few Indian Manufacturers have started (finally) making a headway into making Rose wine (Rose:is different from Shiraz as people assume automatically that they are the same). So she gets a glass of Sula blush Zinfandel and I prefer a Whiskey , so a Jameson double OTR.This last one came in the new age barrel shaped one, which I asked to be switched for old-fashioned one. The waiter came back saying they dont have one :( and that I'd have to go with that.I'd understand a Barrel shaped one for a Laphroaig: but for a Jameson?? Cmon. Its not whiskey tasting I had in mind.
They loved the soup. I tried a bit of the Wontons. Dissapointed. I guess these are better @ that Tibetian place near the original Pecos (called Shangrila or Tibet: I forget). They were very gooey and the only saving grace was the Dark Soy Sauce.Serving it on a bed of Coriander and a Nice presentation does not make for average food @ above average prices. The Melon with parma ham did not dissapoint. (Parma Ham is Prosciutto).Theres nothing the kitchen had to prepare.Slices of Prosciutto with slices of Melon. For me : Meat is best when close to raw.I loved it. Nice combo that.
Maincourse was a Grilled veg platter for the uncle, baked crepes with spinach, dill cream and cheese for the aunt, seer fish anna with white wine ,cream and sun dried tomatoes for the cousin and Penne with roast peppers ,sausage and salami for me. Apparently:my cousin is sick and tired that her Mom always gets the same combo if it is an option anyplace.(I allowed them to argue just as I was stuck answering some insipid questions during the Appetisers and the time it took for the main course to come thro).Suddenly, they decided to involve me and I was to decide if it was worth a "Loyal Retain". I tried a bit of it. Tasted like Lasagna with Butter Chicken Paste and Brocolli. While I contemplated how best to put it as to not sound unkind, the cousin's Seer Fish arrived. I (expertly) steered the conversation onto my cousin asking her to recommend any fish that was actually not served with rich white sauce (as most conti versions are wont to be).. and in this I was highly successful as she racked her brains about it.Be that as it may ,she could not come up with any succesful recommendation on the subject of fish without thick sauces (as most conti versions are bland or near bland, they offer options with white sauce that mask the stong smell of fish). I remembered to thank god next time I was in church,10 in the box and a Hail Mary for the same.
The Grilled Veg platter looked like one of those 'ready-cut and presented veg platters' youd see sitting on the shelf of any organic store with a Microwave plastic base wrapped in shrink wrap (except in this case it wasnt). I was surprised they did not have any rich sauce to accompany it. But my Uncle is trying to cut down intake and he looked happy-as-a-pup-with-two-tails.So I let him be.Mine was great. The Roast Pepers and the Salami (as a Sausage) was generous in portion, the Penne was neat. The sauce went very well with the food. Not too thick as to coat your insides and not too runny to leave the meat and the pasta 'high and dry'. Tried to swipe the cousins Fish. Tasted like fish with white sauce.Took a good 40 minutes polishing this off and answering the next set of questions.
Dessert is Sunny's Fiasco. I say Fiasco because they present the bill after that and since you are in a state of bliss: you dont notice the burnt smell of your wallet.I have already mentioned 'temporary insanity' as Clause 1 in the other Sunnys. This is Clause 2. The Seasons sorbets for the Uncle and Aunt got them to hit a different note. This note was silence. They loved the combo of the Strawberry/Blueberry ones they got. My cousin picked the cinnamon yoghurt scoops.Lovely.Its a wierd combination of an almost Icecream Yoghurt with Cinnamon and I loved how it burned my throat.(Yes we were in each others faces.and plates).I loved the New York Cheese cake @ Sparkys in Madras. I thought Id take that. They didnt have one. So I settled for the Philly cheese cake. What's the difference? WHO THE HELL CARES??!!. I regret having allowed them to scoop mine: coz once they started:Mine got done first.Nice cheese cake center.I think they (possibly) burn the outer edges to a lite carmel brown, and the bottom is not a buiscuit filled crust but terribly smoooth one with shavings of nuts?
While they then finished theirs, I got a single shot espresso: which brought me back to terra firma.. and the bill.
Reasonable I'd say : for the four of us and all of this : it was 5,500 INR .Tips extra. Considering they are family and a nice one @ that: I think it was worth it.The only problem is with a dwindling budget I have to start getting used to Student locales in Auckland now!!.

On the waiters: This has been a constant 'bone of contention' and being voiced by a lot of people. But I have been to both the Sunny's on more than one occasion. While the service is sometimes slow, I have NEVER noticed them being disrespectful/condescending in any way and by any means. Yes: They show preference to white people (and this happens @ all places. Possibly because they get better tipped or dont get to explain each content in case someone wants to clarify or it gives them a sense of grandeur). But I dont think it is a reason to vilify anyone on account of this.Like I have mentioned in some previour reviews before : I attempt to look the part and know what I am talking about, and when I dont know I clarify or learn about it with someone who can explain it to me better. I think its only fair that you attempt to know what you are talking about when you ask for something specific.Age/Sex/Size/Appearence/Anything else notwithstanding: any waiter warms up to assisting someone who has a 'working knowledge' of these things. And thats a far cry from being an expert on it. Or someone who is ok with the waiter him/herself to suggest from the menu that you will trust. The problem is that sometimes, people who throw attitude (more often than not) are the ones who (barely) have passable knowledge of what they are talking about. Hence the disconnect.
Oh! so which one is better?
That depends on how much traffic you can endure :)Trust that helps.

Consistently good ..

Been to Sunny's indiranagar a couple of times now and have never been disappointed with the food. It has been a good option to dine in , as it is close to home. The ambiance is quite nice, I like the indoors section more. I have never faced a problem with the staff and the service. It has been attentive and good all times. A really like the pastas here and the fish dishes. The grilled basa is an all time favorite. A place which we will be visiting again and again.

Not for Locals

Have been here a couple of times and both times have been given the impression that locals are not welcome. Treatment meted out to foreigners is far superior to that provided to locals - This starts with the usher and continues all the way till service

The food however is good that is if you are willing to put up with the poor treatment.

Pretentious place with terrible food

Went there with a couple of friends that were visiting from Hyderabad. I asked the waiter if I could have a plate of Spaghetti with Pesto. Come on, it's as simple as it can get. He didn't understand what I was trying to say. I think the waiters here just understand if you pin point something to them on the menu and tell them that's what you want. So, after all the explanation, the waiter tells me that it is a creamy pesto sauce (Genovese) and that's all they have. I asked them if I could just get plain pesto and he couldn't understand it again. I wanted my spaghetti in plain, chunky pesto sauce!! He just nodded saying he understood it and out came a version of Spaghetti con pesto in the consistency of Palak Paneer. Come on, who on earth purees the pesto? So, Sunny's was a total disappointment for getting something so basic wrong!

I should admit that the Tuna Maki Rolls were good and the Tiramisu was really good (but still not as good as the one you get at Fiorano). So, two stars for that!

The food in sunnys has consistently been good but their service is a lot to be desired. The staff are unwelcoming to local guests and are mainly catering to the foreign clientele which is a little rude.. If the address this issue they would definitely get a five star rating from me.

It's okay...

I have to say, even though the food is nothing to write home about, it has been consistently mediocrely good. Read the rest of my comments and check out some of the photos I took at Sunny's: http://khaana-khaana.blogspot.com/2011/03/sunnys-indiranagar.html

Felt like they were doing US a favor!

Good food, but as always we were disappointed with the service. We have given the place several chances as we really like the food and it is a local restaurant of ours, however we have repeatedly found the staff - including the MANAGER - to be aloof and not very welcoming. For these prices we would expect better service - perhaps even the occasional smile on the faces of the staff and a thank you when you leave the door! With two new Italians opening in the area, Sunny's should give this issue some thought!

RAT IN THE KITCHEN!!

We decided to go to sunny's for dinner today as we had been thinking of trying it for a while... and i can't say it lives upto the hype. Firstly, I have sat in a lot of open air restaurants in the night but nowhere the mosquitoes were swarming in hordes on my head... then i saw a shadow of a rat which i ignored thinking that it's not possible as it is SUNNY's but there it was again in full flesh and it WAS disgusting.. A place like sunny's had a rat which eventually ran towards the kitchen.

The service is sooo slow even when you want to settle the bill and just leave. The complimentary bread basket has burnt breads and when you tell them the waiters to take it away coz the bread is burnt, there is no acknowledgement of the complaint, forget an apology. They are too busy running around and hardly have time to listen to your complaints.

On the plus side, food is good and they do have some interesting dishes in both veg and non-veg menu. But the unhygienic conditions kinda force you to avoid the place. It was good for sampling something new but I would not wanna go their again... the thought of entering sunny's gives me shudders!!!

A good option for continental and asian fare

Visited Sunny's I'nagar for a leisurely dinner last weekend. Good location-on the 100ft road. Valet was efficient and took care of my car immediately. Greeting to the restaurant was passive and lacked pro-activeness thus needed me to approach someone at the desk to be escorted to my pre-reserved table, whick was ok. The ambience was warm and pleasing, not loud. The beverage menu was big and slightly more expensive than restaurants in the same category. The service was attentive. The food menu had a wide choice feel. My salad looked good but tasted awful. My starter looked and tasted good. My maincourse was sad. My partner had a good maincourse and my view to that was also good. Overall an ok destination, but have been to other places that serve better food. I did not try any asian items.

Poor service

I visited Sunny's on valentine's day with my partner. The food was good. But the service sucks ! The waiter cleaned my table and put a used side plate on the table which I asked him to change. The bread took a good 15 minutes to arrive after three reminders. The food was served to my partner first and my dish took a good 10 mins to arrive after my partner had started eating ! The billing took another 15 mins and a few reminders. Good food and a brand name is not enough. Sunny's needs to understand that service is waht makes a good restaurant and get's repeat customers ! The soul is missing from this restaurant !

Articles Stolen @ Sunny's Valet Parking...Bad Exp

Went to Sunny on my recent trip to Bangalore.......
My friends took me to 'Sunny's' @ 100 Feet Indra Nagar......We gave our Car for Valet Parking and left few articles purchased during the day.....that was the mistake we made......After dinner when the Valet guy got the vehicle back we took it without checking it, as it never came to our mind that we need to be cautious at restaurants like Sunny's too (one more thing what was unusual was the Valet guy rushed to go back and dint even wait for the tip...I think he was afraid that we may notice and confront him)....Half Way to home we found out that the Shopping Bag with the articles is missing....We went back and inquired but in vain....as thieves never own up the theft......

What was more annoying is the owner when contacted, started misbehaving over the phone and even gave us crap like "We have returned 3 Lakhs and your articles are worth thousands only" and " People with money talk about money" among various other stupid details and did nothing.

So Friends, just beware of these Valet guy and don't leave any article behind in vehicle when @ Sunny's.

One of My Favorite Places

I have been to Sunny's on Vittal Mallya Road and had loved my experience there so, when Sunny's opened in Indiranagar I was delighted as I live a few minutes drive away. I have been to this branch of Sunny's three times now and have enjoyed myself thoroughly on each occassion. The place offers both indoor and outdoor seating and both seating options are equally nice. The menus (drinks and food) are extensive and all the items sound delicious. My favorite meal at Sunny's is Chicken with White Wine, Shallots and some sort of creamy sauce and I have eaten this on all three visits. Lovely isnt the word for it. The people I have been with, have enjoyed the pastas and the drinks and so far, none of my dining companions have ever had a word of complaint. The ambience is lovely inside. The music is very pleasant. The service is fantastic and all three visits, the waiter assigned to our table couldnt have been more prompt, smiley and courteous. Despite the place being extremely crowded, we would receive our food within 15 minutes of our order. This is a place where it would be practical to reserve in advance as it is always packed. However, to the credit of the manager at the front desk, though I had gone with friends minus reservations on two occassions, he very kindly accomodated us - and immediately at that. The owner is a very charming person, who is extremely friendly and most concerned that one is enjoying a good meal. The crowd is really nice and seem to understand that a dining experience doesn't need to involve bellowing down the mobile phone, shouting loud enough to disturb the occupants at a neighbouring table and being rude to a waiter. As for snobbishness (which is a remark many people have passed about Sunny's), well... all I can say is I have never experienced anything other than charm and courtesy from the owner and his staff and a snooty place would never accomodate anyone without reservations.

no substance - apart from the hype

The hype around Sunnys is totally unjustified. The food comes no where close to it, nor does the service.
The food at Sunnys has fancy names but sadly these do not match up with taste. The prices are way higher than other places on the same snooty road. Guess they are trying to encash the name and hype more than the location.
If they are able to get away with all this despite the bad food and bad bad service, well I guess Bangaloreans like snobish places more than good food joints.
I would not like to go back unless the food improves.

Fine blend of taste and ambience

My first visit to Sunny's Indiranagar last weekend was really pleasant. Located right on the 100ft road, with valet parking, makes it easily accessible. The outside sitting, though right next the main road is well secluded from the road, but still we preferred to sit inside to avoid the noise of traffic on the road.
The menu is elaborate with very fancy price list considering the fact that the quantity served is way too less. Price of cocktails flies above the like of Shiro's.

Anyhow when it comes to food, I must say that my experience was awesome. Finest tastes when presented nicely, just seem worthy of every penny you spend there.

Dishes I would recommend are: Thai grilled chicken (one portion serves one, with about 6-7 small pieces) and chicken with shallots, sun dried tomatoes and cream (one of the finest tastes I have ever experienced).

You also have a variety of pizzas to choose from.
On the whole a very good experience. Will go there again!

Cheers!

Sunny's non-italian restaurant!

We decided to give Sunny's Indiranagar a try over the weekend but what a disappointment that became. The starter salad was pathetic, doused in mayonnaise and the barbecue chicken was floating in tomato sauce. Please do not claim to serve Italian food coz it's not even close... its light years away from anything Italian. The only saving grace was a seafood pizza. Plastic tables..... what were you thinking??? Vowed we wouldn't make the mistake of going there again.

ODDLY DELICIOUS

This is really odd because I love Sunny's. I would really rate it excellent because it does dish up some crazy food (atleast the one at Lavelle road does). This one at Indiranagar I had few issues wwith the food. The place is much much better and very classy no doubt, but I still hate the very 'local' plastic chairs and tables in the outside seating area, it gives it such a bad element to the whole set-up.
Coming to the food; I somehow found the food to be little different from the other branch, and I find it better at the Lavelle road branch. Food wasnt bad at all but not as great as I know it is. The desserts on the menu, FANTASTIC.
I dont know whats changed, but still I love this restaurant. The only place they make the Chicken Stroganoff just the way it should be and its delicious

was @ sunny's for lunch on a week-end with a few friends.Awesome place....yummy food....and mouth smacking desserts....Loved everything about this place. The best was the starter,we ordered for fried prawns and it was cooked perfectly...and everything else that came to our table after that was just too good.
For desserts we i ordered Barbara's ganache tart....sinfully rich chocolate tart....And now its one of my favourite restaurant..Will be back for more soon :)

One of my new Go-To Restaurants

Have always enjoyed Sunny's on VM Rd. Glad when it opened closer to my neighborhood and was thrilled that the quality of the food and servers was the same. Even the menu is the same so I can continue to get my favorite dishes, in particular the seafood pizza. Some dishes are a little hit or miss (the pesto recipe needs to be revamped) but in general I am a big fan. The decor is flawless and of course the location could not be any better for me.

Have been to the new Sunny's several times now and will be back many many more times.

Sunny...finally in Indiranagar

Sunny's has always been my old time favourite right from the time thay had their first small restaurant in Lavelle Road. I was most happy to hear that they opened up in my neighbourhood.
We tried the Sea bass and the beef steak. The sea bass was done to perfection and the steak was tender and juicy with the right flavours. These guys definitely know their business.

Will definitely continue to be my haunt. .

bad experience

was at sunnys with my family on the weekend. Had heard about it from a friend who likes to visit the place on vittal mallaya road.
The place was full and had to wait to get a seat. we waited and looked forward to a good italian meal ( seeing so many people we assumed the place would have excellent fare).
After 20 min were taken to a table, and given the menu cards. The menu is very brief and does not give an insight into the contents of most of the preparations. Our attempt at getting some idea from our server were dashed as he was unable to interact correctly. We did finally select a few dishes which sounded right.
food was served after a delay of 25 minutes, but that is understandable seeing the chaos in the restaurant. But what ticked us off was that the food was cold and was not served in the order it should have been, the soup arrived after one maincourse etc.
the service was in shambles and water glasses were not refilled promptly enough. we had to keep calling our server as he was not very attentive and intuitive.
the bill was the final straw, very high for the kind of food and service being dished out. I feel other places like 100ft and Italia give you a better over all experience.

Really Great Italian Food

I went to Sunny's indiranagar with 4of my friends for a farewell dinner. We had a Crostini and a Chicken starter which was pretty good.. For the main course i had a asparagus, zucchini and mushroom risotto which was extremely well made and tasty .( Finally a good risotto after all the disastrous stuff i've eaten in various so called Italian places.) . The pizza, spaghetti, pasta and chicken Diane that my friends had very equally good. For dessert we had some real yummy tiramisu ,creme brule and praline ice cream which we enjoyed a lot..
I liked the simple unstuffy ambiance as well.
A good evening .Would definitely recommend and also go back again.

Awful awful food !!!!!

I went to Sunny's IndiraNagar hoping it would serve good food.
We ordered a couple of Pastas and two pizzas and believe me,I HAVE NOT HAD SUCH PATHETIC TASTELESS ITALIAN FOOD EVER!!!!!
The pastas were bland...pizza's were very greasy...very oily food,to top it all, the serving size was measly! Little Italy ( now known as Italia now ) and even La Vigna on 80 feet road gives more food for the price you pay.
And may I add that the prices were atrociously high.
All in all a tasteless experience....would never go into Sunny's or recommend it to anyone...totally spoilt my evening...YUCK!!!!!

Sunny side up

Sunny's was the location selected by my friends to lighten my pockets on my birthday. Situated in one of the more classy locales of Bangalore - 100 ft Road - this fine dining restaurant is a very good addition to the host of excellent restaurants already present in Indiranagar. The overall ambience of the restaurant is quite nice, but nothing different from what you will find in most fine dining restaurants. The seating arrangements are good and you have the option of sitting either outside in the open air or inside in the air-conditioned surroundings. A complimentary breadroll with herbed butter starts you on your culinary journey. We skipped the starters and went straight for the main course.

First up was a chicken pizza with barbeque sauce and cheese topping. The pizza crust was really well made and the toppings were nicely done. The chicken itself was very succulent and when combined with the thin but crunchy crust of the pizza formed a mouthwatering combination. After eating this pizza, my appetite for Dominoes and Pizza Hut has subsided considerably. This was followed by the entrees. This consisted of bass fillet seved with some delicious sauce. The fish was fresh and tasted fantastic with the sauce that it was served with. The second entree was chicken with stuffed cheese and this luscious combination wrapped in bacon. This excellent preparation was served with cheese sauce with a side serving of spinach and pasta. (can't remember the actual names of the dishes, so have described them here.) This sumptuous fare was wrapped up with two excellent desserts. The first one was a 'Chocolate Chocolate Roll': chocolate flavored bread rolled around dark chocolate with a hint of alcohol. The second one was chocolate pie served with vanilla and caramel sauce (again I forget the name of the dish). One can't have any better food than this for a birthday (except for maybe home-cooked food). The food was served hot and fresh. And it was delicious enough to make you drool so much that you will put a new born to shame.

Negatives about Sunny's? The service was a bit slow. Even if we had gone smack in the middle of lunch time on a Sunday afternoon, I guess we can expect a better service from a restaurant that is supposed to be one of the better ones in Bangalore. The menu was filled with a lot of exotic names but there was no way for us to know the contents of each of the dishes.

But these are trifles compared to the quality of food on offer. Overall, Sunny's is worth every cent that you will spend in fattening yourself.

3 cheers for the new Sunnys!

We were slightly sceptical going to the "new" Sunnys after the innumerable fantastic experiences at the Lavelle Road restaurant over the years.
Ended up having a fabulous meal with a few glitches in service here and there.
We were expectantly awaiting the bread rolls with the herbed butter (the highlight of any trip to Sunnys for me). They came around soon enough but the rolls were stone cold.To the credit of the waiter, he had them replaced immediately.
Started with ordering our usual crostini with bell peppers and tomatoes which was excellent as usual.Decided to be a little adventurous and order the Sunnys version of the Tom Yum soup..different from the usual thai restaurtant type but nice nonetheless.
For the main course we decided to order from the specials menu instead of ordering the usual pepperoni pizza that we always eat.
The Chicken Saltimbucca, bacon wrapped chicken stuffed with goat cheese in a creamy sauce served with pasta was par excellence as was the spaghetti with arugula and pesto.
Unfortunately the spaghetti had been sitting in the kitchen for a tad too long and had gotten cold. That aside, both dishes were spectacular.
We decided to go all out and after all that food, ordered coffee and dessert. The strawberry and banana icecream and the blueberry creme brulee were outstanding.
The coffee came cold (again!, or is it just me wanting everything piping hot!) and was promptly sent back and replaced.
Overall it was a memorable meal and a validation of the fact that Sunny's is great food..no matter where!

buck up

After reading dismal review of Sunny's which was a clear favourite of mine when I lived on Lavelle Road, I decided to check out this outlet with 3 friends.
Was there for lunch. What a nice setup they have on one of the most up market roads in Bangalore today. A very efficient valet service took my car away from the maddening traffic on 100 ft Road.
Once inside, we were asked to be seated outside even though there were plenty of seating available indoors. This struck me as strange, as I did not think the place would be full on a weekday afternoon, why not oblige the guest if he has a seating preference ?
We ordered some mocktails and a non veg starter. I do not remember what it was called, the menu offers no details of what to expect. It was a little off.
The main course was a 'pizza, a pasta and a lasagnia, to be shared by the 4 of us. The service was par below expectation, as most of the staff needed to be told at least 3 times what was needed. Barring the tall guy in action, everybody else was moving around like zombies. At least 2 chaps came to us to ask for the order, but the guy who did take it needed to be told many times before he got it right. I guess these chaps need to be briefed thoroughly before they are unleashed on un suspecting guests. In a place like Sunny''s you expect the very best of service, which is warm and efficient. I remember the little garage at the end of Kasturba Road Cross, where they opened the first outlet, the service was A class. The food was the best and the desserts to die for.
I went looking for the oldest Sunny''s but unfortunately came out pretty disappointed. The food was not what I expected. I really hope for the sake of the brand name, they would buck up.

oh my

Sunnys was one of my fav places to eat at in Bangalore for many years. And yes they have become inconsistent over the last year or so (the one on vittal mallya road) but I would still go there hoping they would get it right this time. And on some rare ocassion they do.

So when I went to the new branch in Indiranagar, I was hoping that the food would would be good - the good ol sunnys that I once knew (being a new restaurant u expect them to be at their best). But it was disappointment galore.

The pasta- overcooked and soupy.
The pizza - over done and bad quality ingredients
The fish - salty and just no flavor
The steak - Cold and tough

and the service - apart from the manager who was kind and well spoken. the rest of their staff need to get their act together and more importantly drop the damn attitude.

I will never step foot in there again.

This place requires some major damage control. So if the management actually takes some time to read this, I hope they act... and act soon.
