Tangra - Worth the Visit.

Yesterday we went to this Place and trust me, one of the best Chinese Hangouts in Bangalore. I would recommend you to drop in once and I am sure you will return. It is slightly pricey but the portions are ample when compared to other restaurants.

Tangra Team - Good Job and I hope you maintain this standard.

Nice Place

I had been to this place recently and tried some drums of heaven, schezwan chicken and fried rice. The food was excellent. The quantities are too large and I ended up packing everything home. The prices are exorbitant. I ended up paying 1123 Rs for a single meal. Not at all recommended if you eating alone.

One of the Best Chinese Restaurants

Last weekend my husband and myself were hunting for a good restaurant. As we were very hungry, decided to stop by the first restaurant we come across and it was Tangra. Though I'm generally apprehensive about going to a Chinese restaurant, I had to go as my husband did not want to search further. To my surprise we had a great lunch and completely enjoyed the food.
First we ordered a broccoli and corn soup along with veg garlic stick starter. Both were mouth watering. For the main course we ordered a Herb infused fried rice which tasted great. Finally the triple layered white chocolate, milk and choco mousse was top of the world.
Tangra has changed my opinion about Chinese restaurants.

Good Chinese joint in Jayanagar

I was catching up with one of my college friends after 2 years and was looking for a place which will serve good Chinese food minus the noise so that we can have an hour long conversation and Tangra was the right place.

Visited Tangra after reading reviews and yes it does deserve some fabulous reviews.
Food: 4/5

Must visit this place if you are residing in or around Jayanagar and are craving for good Chinese food.

An excellent experience on our wedding anniversary

We thought of eating out on 15th Feb 2013, our wedding anniversary. I did search for good restaurants in the Jayanagar, Koramangala area, but time again was leaning towards Tangra because of the past experiences. So, came early from office and went to Tangra.
The food was just amazing. Crispy Chilli Potato and the Crispy Mixed Vegetables in Pepper and Salt were yummm. The noodles in main course was very well done, soft, flavourful, and tasty.
Soulful saxophone was playing in the background. Good choice of music. Good ambiance. The waiter did falter here and there, but the Order Takers saved the day, who were quick to rectify things. Minor glitch, nothing else.
We had their Drums of Heaven in few instances before, and it is one of the best, and one of the Must Try. Friday being vegetarian day for us, we didn't order it this time.
After having a tasty and sumptuous meal, we met the Chef and thanked him.

Nice food with large portions

The food is nice. What surprised us was how large food portions were. Lots of giant king prawns, lots of rice, almost a dozen garlic chicken drumsticks, a bucket full of gravy and more. There was so much food, we had to get half of what we ordered packed.

We had golden frized king prawns amongst other things, which was really really nice

The waiting staff was well groomed and very friendly. The interior is also very good (and upmarket), giving the place a very nice ambience.

Good momos

The other day was searching in Burrp for good Chinese in and around Jayanagar. Saw this place had good rating. Went there to get something light packed, for take-away. Took Dumplings/ momos, and Kothe (pan-fried momos).
The packing was neat, and "really" good. The moment I took a bite on the momo, only one word came to the mind.. "succulent". Very well prepared. They had given two sauce (again very nicely packed) with it. The portion too was good.. It served for a nice refreshment.
While waiting for the food, saw their menu. LIIT (Long Island Iced Tea), one of my favourites, is on the drinks menu. Ambiance is subtle, decor tastefully done. Music indeed was western (Carols were playing when I went there), but it definitely didn't seem out of place. It was actually nice. The waiters attentive and helpful. Provided that they maintain the quality, it will continue to be a success in this part of the town.

Delish!!!

After seeing all the good reviews decided to visit this place, so came here Wednesday at around 7 pm. It is located diagonally opposite Namdhari Fresh on first floor of Eden Park. It has a bar area with good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The menu had a lot of items, but i choose spicy crabmeat fried rice and drums of heaven (8 pieces). Both were heavenly, aromatic and full of flavor (enjoyed every bite). Then ordered date pancake with ice cream (5 triangular small pieces of fried pancake with date filling and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream) which was delicious.

The ambiance was good with dark brown and beige interiors and quite spacious. Service was excellent. The quality and quantity of food was good but a little on the expensive side when compared to Beijing Bites. Price Rs.715 + 14.5% VAT = Rs.819 (for 3 items). Enjoyed myself, it is worth a try....

Very good and tasty food!

Tangra.....The ambience is good. Service is great. We just loved the peppery lemon soup, crispy vegetables in chilli plum sauce, sapo vegetables and ginger and garlic fried rice. Loved the kimchi too. Value for money. No upfront service charges added. Would definitely visit again.....

Good food and service

A thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch. Service was prompt and each course was served piping hot and well spaced out. The pickled vegetables and kimchi served while we waited for our appetizers were also good. Portion size was good. The wanton in my veg wanton soup were the best I've had in India, thin wrappers and plump filling. I would go back to Tangra regularly just for the wanton soup. The portion is good enough to have this as a light meal. We had the kotthe steamed dumplings as an appetizer and were not disappointed, some might find it bland but suited are palate just fine. For mains we had veg hakka noodles and tofu and shitake in black bean sauce. The noodles were spot on and not very oily, the quality of tofu could have been better. Overall a satisfied customer.

Value for money Chinese Restaurant

This restaurant is part of Eden Park at Jayanagar, with a good ambiance. Since I had an Amex card, they offered me 15% discount. Its among few of the restaurants, which do not bill you Service Charges upfront. We ordered Drums of Heaven for Starters and this was the best chicken lollipop I had since many years. The spring rolls were not too oily and the Dim sums (momos) were boiling fresh served in a bamboo basket. For main course we had American chopsuey with Prawns, which was not too sweet and Fried rice flavored with herbs. Overall the food quality was good and the portions were adequate for 4 people easily. Hence a great value for money for the price. The service was fast and attentive.

Pretty Good Experience: Worth a Try definitely

Ambience: understated elegance; neatly maintainatined; not a sore spot around; well could be better in spick and span outlook
Staff: just smartly dressed and professional in outlook and disposition

Food: we loved them: Kothe Dimsums; Kung Pao veggies with water chestnuts; Aromatic rice; Datepancake with icecream...truly delectable; but the pepper and lemony soup is a disappointment. It could have been better had the broth is purely vegetarian; it smacks of eggs; and also there is no hint of lemony tanginess....nor the fieriness of pepper...

Availability: again a disappointment: for we could not find the coconut rolls with cream

Billing: accruate; prompt
Liked: regular filling of the water; proactively enquiring about the food quality yet unobtrusively...
Oh yes..bathrooms are well maintained in clean environment

What could be better:
- Instead of cellulose napkins, provide the cloth napkins for that unique rich warm feeling and better functional utility
- Play the sonorous and mellifluous Chinese background instrumentals than out of setting pop music
- Perhaps the ambience can be even brighter and inviting had it been suffused with some fresh aromas/aircleaners...

Awesome Chinese food

Was introduced to this place by friends, we went to this place a couple of months back. The best Chinese food I have had in a long time. Loved their starters (the Prawn Satay was superb) and for main course tried Buddha's delight and pan fried noodles. The food was great, ambiance was nice and the price though a little on the higher side but seems to be worth the experience. Meal for 2 would be around 800-1000INR

Great food, even better service, but expensive

7 of us went there last week, and it was a great experience overall.

Since we had an infant, we had booked in advance and requested for a high chair. This was promptly provided on arrival. The waiters even rearranged the chairs so that a couple of people could reach the infant if required. Service was great, and the waiters extremely polite and professional. The food was good, though some of the starters were a little on the oily side. The main course rice + gravies were perfect, though.

The place is more expensive than the 2 "$$" that is indicated above. Soups + starters + main course + desserts (no drinks) worked out to about 850/- per person, with final portions just ending about sufficient for all.

Food - 4/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Value for money - 3/5

Excellent Placefor food and service

A must visit place for all people who has a taste bud for Chinese Cuisine. We went for an office dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the taste, service and the overall experience.

Highly recommended for Veg / Non- Veg folks alike.

Excellent food, quick service, a bit pricey

All of us who went to this place are vegetaraians so this review is limited to veg food.
The food was simply excellent in taste.
Portion size is good
Service is quick
Somewhat pricey
The only downside was that we had asked for a high chair for the baby and what they gave was literally that - a chair that was high - but it was in no way appropriate to seat a baby. So we ended up having her next to us the whole time and this was a a little discomforting for both her and us.

Went on a weekday for lunch. Was bowled over by the choices and the quality of food and service. Best Chinese/Thai food I ever had in Bangalore. I think it is better than mainland china and less expensive as well. Will recommend it to people any day.

Indo Chineese Kolkatta style

But the Bongs say the one in Kolkatta is better...

Considering there were not too many options in the area, Chung Wha & the newly opened mainland China notwhithstanding, this is a OK place.

Decent food and good service.

Not a bad place to go to in a pinch.

Excellent Indo-Chinese!

We moved to Bangalore recently. We live in south Bangalore and there seems to be a lack of fine dining restaurants this side of town. Driving for an hour all the way to Koramangala/Indiranagar for dinner is not my idea of fun. So we decided to check out Tangra - a mere 10 minutes from where we lived. We were not disappointed! The food is great as is the ambience. The portions are decent. Prices are very reasonable. I particularly liked the chicken dim sum, drums of heaven and thai yello curry. The vegetarian appetizers i.e. crispy mushroom and a babycorn dish (I dont recall the name) were great as well. For dessert we had the crispy honey noodles with vanilla ice-cream which was a good choice. The waiters seemed friendly (Our party had 3 hyperactive kids with us so it was nice not to see them grimacing :) ) All in all a good experiance. To give you an idea about the prices we were about 7 adults and the bill came to around 3K (no alcoholic drinks). Been there twice already.

Very decent food, I was happy.

I've been here twice already in the last month not because I live closeby, because I got to eat good food. I can't remember what we ordered, but we ordered a bunch and everyone of us liked it. I don't know if it's better than Mainland china but it's most definitely better than Aromas of China. (I wonder what is wrong with BJN these days, they suck) Pricing is perfect, decent portions and Chinese wasn't greasy as all.Great. I remember the starters were pretty good. If I remember right, i think we ordered crispy fried vegetables and fried spinach (it was alright, I've had better ones)
Yes, I recommend this restaurant.

Desi stuff in fine style

I like what they have done with the name. Removed all pretensions of serving Indian style cuisine with fancy advertising. This is standard Indian style chinese served in the comfort of a fine dining ambience. The menu has no surprises and caters to the palate of the typical Indian diner.

We visited this place during the Dim Sum festival. The one thing I liked was the Dim Sums being made fresh on order right in plain sight. Maida flour was used sparingly for the outer pocket which is a fresh change. The prawn filling was fabulous - something bsaic and simple which most restaurants are not able to manage. The rest of the food was great. Again no surprises but done well and served quickly.
The portions are big and the 2 of us were not able to finish a meal and starters.
Service is good and courteous. They could do with a little less oil.

Ambience is good and it was nice to see the place overflowing on a rainy Sat evening. The cost seems a little high for this regular fare food but I would accept this on 2 counts - ambience and the fact that they are doing well with the basics which many other restaurants have not been able to manage.

If you want something more fancy and delectable, do not visit this place. But when you crave for the Manchurian gravies, this is the place to go.

Satisfies the Cravings for Indo-Chinese food.

I went to this place today with two of my friends(1 a vegetarian and one a non -vegetarian). The only disaster was the mocktails.. we ordered a mango tango and litchi sparkle which were both made with some artificial crush and were horrible(sort of like the stuff you get in ccd) .However when we informed them they quickly offered to replace it but we settled for tried and tested sweet lime soda. The starters mushroom and baby corn, lime chicken and prawn dumplings were just the perfect comfort indo-chinese satisfy your craving kinda food .. spicy and sweet..For main course we had a egg schezwan fried rice and a mixed meat rice with a brocolli, baby corn curry.. 2 portions of rice was too much and we were sorry to waste it.Quantities are generous. Dessert had few interesting options but we were too full to try them. Maybe next time.. The ambience was simple and nice. Crowd consisted of lotsa family and kids enjoying a lazy sunday afternoon with delicious chinese fare.

For those who like real indo chinese

For those of you who like the taipans, chungs, chung-wahs of bangalore, great place to go. Good food. fast service. Good variations to the standard "chinese" menus. Ours was a large group and the overall experience was excellent, coupled with a reasonable price. I wish the management would enable a proper parking spot - like most new places, valet parking is available (however this means parking in the surrounding residential neighborhoods)

Worth a visit.

This place serves better Chinese food as compared to most other places I've been to in Bangalore. There's nothing much to write about the ambiance. Nothing to complain about the service either. The prices are reasonable too. Would definitely recommend this place if you want to eat good Chinese food.

Chilli's

to something that says Indo-Chinese. It says this on the menu card. I'm amused by a reviewer claiming it better than Mainland China.
the momo's which were supposed to be steamed seemed to have been soaked in oil before serving, being absolutely flaccid. If you want dumplings, try Ping
Everything else seemed to have a ton of red chillies and there was no hint of anything chinese apart from using noodles as a filler to any gravy they served.
Sorry, but I'd say the darshini's and sagar's do a better job. The decor is nothing much to write home about.
The waiters seem clueless and keep referring to a head steward to help them out. Aroy would be a better option if you want decor plus great food in south bangalore

Great food

We have been to this place 4-5 times. The food is very good here. The dimsums are the best we have eaten. We have tried a variety of soups and they have been excellent. The chicken starters we have tried have been decent (nothing to write about) but not bad. The main course have lot of real variety. Don't miss the Sizzler Japanese Noodles.

A Great Experience

We had a lovely evening at Tangra Indochinese, Jayanagar . The place is neat and clean. The food is excellent. We especially loved the soup and dimsum. The service is efficient. The staff are well trained and courteous. The quantity of food served is also good. South Bangalore really needs some good restaurants and Tangra is a promising place indeed.
