Overhyped

Does not justify the high prices. Portions are below average. Taste is ok though. Ambience is fine except for the mosquitoes. Service is ok.
Overall nothing great.

Buffet is Useless

We went for a buffet lunch today. Rs 650/head. Completely useless.

5 non-veg starters + 6 veg starters - only 3+4 are served in the first 45 minutes. After that we have to ask for others.
All the items (prawns, BBQ wings, baby corn, one more) taste the same. They are dipped in the same sauce. Food is stale.

Too much delay in serving. Even in main course not much variety and food was very bad. They are not interested in replenishing completed items.

Starters will not be there on the counter. You need to ask them multiple times. Of course there is nothing great to repeat again!!

Please don't go with ratings on websites. Either the cooking team left or all the ratings are hooked up.

May be it is good in wine and cheese. Not sure. But the cheese on Pizza and one starter was very bad. It gave out a foul smell.

If you don't believe me, try and see!

Always Trust a FAT CHEF!!!

On my one of a kind ventures on trying to find new places to eat we had a nice meal in this restaurant....It was a dinner party for a friends birthday!!! We sat out in the open....We were a group of 10....The ambiance is pretty plain nothing to boast off....However the food and service here are good....

We had Morrocan roasted pumpkin and Parmesan soup AND Mushroom cappuccino with thyme soups....We shared it as we would want to have....Got two salads for the table Badami aloo tuk and Watermelon and feta salad.....Both were YUMMY.....Placed order for entrees Berry onion rings, Herbed mozzarella fritters, Spinach ricotta walnut samosa and jalapeno tartlets, some tempuras, ....They were all very well done.....Shared equally among us all.....

Moving on to main course we all ordered different dishes...Mushroom and smoked cheese pizza, Veggie with cheese burger, the Alt, Mediterranean sandwich, some mushroom spinach quiche, mac n cheese, lasagna, parmigiana, asparagus cake with four cheese sauce and some pasta and sizzlers to go around....We almost ordered every vegetarian thing on their menu....Everything sounded so delicious and tasted wonderful too..... After all this we were still wanting and had enough space in our tummies for some yummy dessert....So our orders were ice cream, cream brulee, irish cream and chocolate cream cups, pie, cheese cake and trifle.....

Loved the food, love the service....We left happy filled and wanting more.....

A must visit again with family and now I can say my venture on finding a good multi-cuisine restaurant has come to a successful end....

A must visit for the non vegetarians

Me and my husband are a big time fan of this restaurant.. We both relish the lemon grilled chicken, pasta and the meat balls served here. The most important point being that it has managed to maintain the quality of the food served at this place over the period of time. Vegetarians might not have a nice experience here as they could fall short of options..

Never Tust a Thin Chef and this Fat Chef

Didn't like the place. I think the TLC's and Only Place, Plan B and Millers have spoiled me a lot. I really love to see food like the way Americans eat. And thus the Fat Chef was disappointing. Less quantity, high on price. But it is a hit among the expat crowd and office goers. But not an option to consider when you have better, bigger, yummier, options in Bangalore. For me its a 3.5 out of 10.

Not Worth The Money

We have tried vegetarian starters and main course and as the earlier reviews said the amount of food on the plate and the prices don't match. All the items are over priced. Quality is ok but not the quantity. One main course is definitely not enough even for one person. I am a vegetarian so I cannot comment on non-vegetarian food. So to conclude I am not going for the second time.

a lovely meal

I went to the Fat Chef recently . I had ordered Mexican veg balls and stuffed cheesy potatoes. Appetizers are good except that they are a little too filling. The main course I ordered was shashilik , cottage cheese steak and spinach and stuffed tomatoes spaghetti .THese were awesome. But the dessert I ordered ,choco lava cake was overcooked ! IT WAS MORE LIKE A BISCUIT! Overall, This place is really good

Finally!

I'm not an explorer when it comes to food. Especially not when I'm on a visit. Even if it is just to my hometown. But this one was different.
I have always enjoyed a chic and artsy ambiance to go with my gourmet meals. It just so happened this Tuesday that I found just the place for it.
I was in Whitefield for a project and at Lunch we were left in the lurch by our Manager who took off back to the office. So my friend and I were hapless strangers to this part of new Bangalore. Fortunately, Android. Google Maps told me that there was this place just around the block called the fat chef. Being in the vicinity of a play theater I knew I wouldn't be all that bad. We went down there and everything about the place caught me by pleasant surpris. A chalk board for a menu, a porch for a dining area, a dessert bar like I’d never seen before in India and the sumptuous meals that came our way. All in all it was an experience that I have always wanted with my food and I have since decided to make it a ritual soon.

Ok place

A good place, decent ambience and food is decent. Only issue is that the portions are very limited for the menu prices. One conti dish does not suffice one person. The prices for the wine are exbortinant.

Would love to know what you have ordered, when did you visit our restaurant and which of the dish that you ordered did not suffice one person. If you could add in these details we will be able to help you better.
Thank you

Thank you for the quick response. Well I came long time back, at the begining of the year. We had ordered 2 dishes - one was some chicken dish with white sauce and second dish was chicken pepper steak. The portion of pepper steak definitely wasnt sufficient.

Firstly Thank you for keeping us in mind for such a long time,

I am sorry i will not be able address a problem you face 10 months ago.

A lovely mediterranean meal

I visited the Fat Chef about 2 months ago, for a light afternoon meal with two of my friends.
We weren't particularly famished, but since we'd heard interesting reviews about this place, we thought our first visit should be purely to test specific items that we're fond of.

Although upon driving up to the restaurant you feel that it's located somewhat at the rear-end of the Jagriti Renaissance apartments, once you enter the place you end up forgetting about its location and not-the-best parking area. The ambiance is that of an Ecuadorian Villa, patio included. The menu was printed in the standard chalk-on-board style.

For starters, we ordered the Mexican Veg balls and for my non-veg fanatics, the Mexican Chicken balls. The served portions could have been bigger but the golden crisp treats had a balanced share of cheese and herbs.

For the main course, we opted to go "all marine" - the standard Fish 'N' Chips and Grilled Fish with lemon butter. We felt the decision to taste the chef's range and skill for cooking fish was justified. The crispy fillet pieces were well-cooked and the fries that accompanied it were perfect! I would've preferred a little tartar sauce too, but a it was a filling meal altogether. I now know why the British prefer it so much.

The Grilled Fish was covered in butter (as expected) and had a delicate flavor of lemon zest and parsley. One of my friends felt that a dash of garlic would''ve gone a long way in perfecting the dish.

To compliment the fish, we chose the Classic Sangria, which I must say went very well with the fish - the red color of the wine and its striking flavor against the the texture of the white fish.

Finally, what added the last touch of pleasantness to the ambiance and meal was the location of our table. We were seated near a big rotary fan which had a pocket of water in front, thus gently blowing a cool air along with a tiny drop or two of dew drops regularly. This gave us the smell and feel of sitting by the veranda of our homes, waiting for the monsoons. BIG PLUS POINT!

The food was good, the ambiance was lovely; the prices were a little on the expensive side but worth it for a get-away experience on a casual weekend afternoon.

Dear Friend,
Thank you for your Valuable feed back and We are Happy that you had a memorable experience.
Firstly as for the starters the reason the portion size is what it is, is because if we make the starters heavy you will not be able to enjoy the Main course.
I am sorry you did not get tartar sauce with your fish ad chips is our mistake, we do serve a tartar sauce with it.
I wish your friend does come by next time and asks for a Grill fish Lemon Butter with extra garlic and will personally make it for you friend.

The Fat Chef has an admirable balance between indoor and outdoor seating, and an equally good balance between some wonderful American, European, and Asian food with an extensive wine list and a relaxing vibe.

Plus:
+ Great ambiance
+ Good for lunch or dinner
+ Great food. (Must try coriander prawns and watermelon feta salad)
+ Watermelon Iced Tea
+ Consistently good food

Minus:
- Only serve wine.
- Dessert is strictly ok.

When in doubt, on a night out, Fat chef is what it's all about.

To be fair it should actually be 3.5. Starters were average, main course was good. Service was a little slow (probably helpful if you''re interested in trying the extensive wine list), but definitely worth going to again. Review is based on the veggie options only.

Lovely little place..

Had a very nice meal at this cozy li'l place last Sat. Was always intrigued by the name, and finally got an opportunity to drop in.
Ordered garlic bread with cheese and cream of mushroom soup, and both were heavenly..garlic bread was soft enough to melt in the mouth and soup was delicious too. For the main course we ordered a pasta ( don't remember the name, mushroom something) and a smoked chicken sandwich.
Both were very nice. Will make sure we try the pizzas and desserts next time, since they looked mouth watering :)
Highly recommended and we are definitely going back again!

Romance on a plate!

I walk into a cozy little sub-urban place in Bangalore. A very happy family is seated right at the entrance and a fat little man gets up to greet and escort me into the beautiful restaurant. All you romantic couples, this is the right place to be if you want to enjoy a delicate meal. The fat little man is indeed the owner of the restaurant and the family sitting at the entrance is his too. So, this restaurant is a highly warm one from the minute you enter to the second you finish the desert and walk out cuddling with her.Fat chef consists of a very warm staff as well. One can order as soon as he or she enters with the special guidance from a waiter or wait to get the menu card on the table. You can enjoy a candle light in the open space to the warm dinner with your loved ones in an interior set up as well. Yeah Yeah coming to the continental food:

My special suggestions are:

drink: Ice tea (They are really refreshing)
Soup: Cream of mushroom.
Appetizers: Mexican cheese balls.
Main course: Chicken lasagna.
Desert: Their chocolate stuff(ummm!)

Apart from these, treat your self with a lot more. Walk into this one because it is totally worth it.
Lovers : Don't miss this one, because she might give you lot more once she heads back home

On the whole: Love the place more than the food.

Cheers!

Good food and service :)

One of the best neighbourhood restaurants whitefield has to offer.
Situated within the Jagriti theater complex, Its a satisfying end to a great play and day.For all you non-veg lovers, The beer batter prawns, bbq wings, fish in a bag and the cheese and prawn stuffed chicken is a must try. Not to mention the extremely refreshing watermelon and feta cheese salad, My favourite!
Its always nice to go to a restaurant where the staff is full of smiles and suggestion, the service is quick and the experience makes you want to come back again. Thats exactly what The Fat Chef has to offer.
The three owners are truely the icing on the cake. Probably the friendliest and funniest people I've met in a long time :)
Make sure you take time out of your meal to have a small chat with them.

Good Ambience, ridiculous food and quantity

And poor service.
I decided to visit this place with my wife on the independence day night after hearing about this place for steaks. We were escorted in the outside area, somewhere near the corner to sit which was poorly lit. They handed us the menu, which didn't have all the food items listed.
Since we had decided to have steaks, we ordered Pepper Chicken Steak (Rs. 320) and stuffed chicken with cheese & prawns (Rs 380), and a Fresh lemon soda (Rs 70). (we dont eat beaf, (or I believe steak = beaf). Both the dishes had tender chicken but the taste and quantity did not match the expectations set by the good ambience and the price. Sauce was not enough, and inadequate cheese and prawns in the stuffed steak.

Since the hotel already charges service charge and service tax, so I didn't tip. During the dinner, the waiters were running around like they were walking in the garden. And after the final bill was settled, another guy came towards us with the bill in his hand, and asked us if everything is alright, with a rude sound. He later wished us Happy Independence day and good night with the plain dry voice, while walking behind us. He clearly looked unhappy, because we didn't tip them, is my best guess.

Will we go there again? - Clear NO.
Will I recommend this place to my friends? - NO
Want good ambience and good steaks? - Go "The only place!"

I had been there after reading good reviews about this place.we had ordered starter BBQ chicken which was good ,thin crust chicken pizza which was also good. But the main course ,steak stuffed with prawn cheese was not upto the mark. The steak was not soft & the sauce was not enough.I was quite disappointed after having it.Anyway, dessert walnut chocolate cake was good along with service &ambience.

Food for the soul..a place for every one to enjoy!

The Fat Chef is a place I go to when I need soul food ? How else can I describe it! I love seeing that menu blackboard and the sumptuous items on it…by the time I reach my table I already know what to order. I’ve been there with my husband, as well as in large groups. The service and the food has been absolutely amazing each time.

The ambience, lush lawn and a lively owner / chef / host whose face is always lit up with a smile and an anecdote keeps pulling me back again and again. I don’t think one can get tired of a place like The Fat Chef.

A must try place!

staff rude and poorly trained

went on a fri night with a booking. Most of the restaurant was empty.Yet the person escorting us insisted we sit inside as there was only couple seating outside.I pointed out that there were already a group 0f 3 people sitting outside and besides there were no other couples in sight. After intervention of a gentleman(I presumed to be the owner),he said we could sit outside. But the person escorting us insisted we sit outside in a corner and inspite of ALL other seats being empty kept saying it is a problem..restaurant policy etc.By this time I had had enough of this rude behaviour and walked out.I suggest they send their staff for training in hospitality.

Heavenly Banoffee and Pepper Surprise

Last Friday (18th) was a fantastic friends' soiree at The Fat Chef.

Although a very busy evening (there was some play on at Jagriti), our orders were taken care of promptly. One of my friends has an egg allergy - and the head chef (Abhijit) personally came and checked with him - what can be made for my friend.

Veg clear soup is not on the menu but the kitchen tailor made it for us. The mushroom starter was just yummy. And then the main course - pepper chicken / veg lasagne / chicken wrap with prawn and cheese and fish curry rice. the table was brimming with aroma. And to end the evening - heavenly Banoffee with crumbs at the end of the glass.

The staff is polite and are not afraid to learn from their faux pas. I have been a regular at The Fat Chef and can vouch for their hospitality and food standards. Bangalore is a city for the foodies and I see "The Fat Chef" as one of the forerunners.

Fish in a Bag

A friend of mine had come in from Germany and he wanted some good non spicy food and the best place i could think of was the FAT Chef.

He loved the Barbeque Chicken wings as the starter , looked spicy but was just right for him.

As for the main course he had the Beef Stake with pepper and mushroom sauce and swore that it was equally as good as what he had had in Germany where he works.

I had the Falafel it brought back fond memories of my visit to the middle east, and for main course i had the peanut chicken with glass noodle salad. At first i was a lil skeptical as to how well they could deliver an Indonesian Dish but once i had the meal i was satisfied.

To add we had the Famous Water melon ice tea which was refreshingly different.

No place in the tummy for Dessert , but will definitely be back.

On my way out i realized that the FAT chef make a 100% whole wheat bread which i managed to bring back home and loved every bit of it!!!

Went to the fat chef again on saturday for dinner and came out feeling happy and satisfied.the new specials of the fish with leek and capers was really amazing beats the grill fish lemon butter any day.after reading the review below i really felt that it was so unfair, as we too had booked a table and we too cldnt get the parking but we were told politely to park at sigma tech park which we did,i cannot imagine any of the 3 owners being rude as i am a regular and every experience of mine has been great.

Arrogance - Digest or Leave

Background : Had seen many good reviews about this place and decided to go for it on 18th May, Saturday evening. I had my mother ( a diabetic patient with 400 sugar level) and I am myself recuperating from a surgery - so we wanted to go to a place close by (we stay in Marathahalli).

Prior to Visit : I called up and made a booking @ 9.45 PM. On my husband's insistence, I checked if parking is available (as it is me & my mother wanted to avoid walk) and the person taking the booking confirmed, parking is ample.

What happened : We reached the venue at 9.30 PM and found there were cars even outside Jagriti Building and no space for the car to be parked. A man came running and we told him we have come for Fat Chef to which he rudely said Parking is not available. We informed we have a booking and requested if anything can be done. The guy almost asked us to leave but since we insisted that we speak to someone senior he said he will call the restaurant owner. Out came Mayur - the MOST ARROGANT AND RUDE BEHAVED man existing in this earth. I told him about the parking confirmation which his people have given and the state of our health. He said you can walk inside and asked my husband to go and park in Sigma Mall and come walking as if he is a Driver. Have seen restaurants across the world and have also experienced how much hospitality and care is exhibited by the people who understand what a restaurant is all about. The arrogance with which he spoke and the apathy that he exhibited is something I have never experienced in my life before.

AfterMath : We had come out for dinner after a long time and I felt embarassed that I made a wrong choice thereby spoiling the evening for everyone. I called them again and as rudely as before I was told by another partner that it is none of their responsibility to arrange parking (it was like, Go To Hell...we have lot of people and do not mind some going away).

I have given a long narration just to save if possible evenings of people who may be planning a good night out. Food served is not a favor done. There is a way and manner to treat - if you value your self esteem, do stay away. There are tons of places in BLR where you can good behavior along with some great Food.

For the love of good food,A must visit!

If you are looking for an outdoor dining experience with food prepared with the utmost efficiency and that which reflects in the service 'the fat chef' is the place to be.
I had the most pleasant afternoon at The Fat Chef.
As i was entering the restaurant...the owner and what I presumed a regular at the restaurant were discussing the steak her guest always loved having here.
The fact that within a year of its opening this place has regulars with some favorites says a lot about its credibility.
I ordered for the beer battered prawns which were succulent fresh morsels, hummus with meat..yum,yum! and a lychee flavored wine(i loved it! especially since it was a warm summer afternoon)
this was followed by a delightful and surprisingly generous serving of the main course which consisted of a bassa fish lightly flavored with sundried tomatoes and a juicy steak for my husband. Our friend ordered chicken stuffed with prawns and cheese in a lemon coriander sauce...totally awesome!
The food was the freshest and some of the best i have tasted in a city packed with over-rated restaurants.
The USP of the place is the utmost care taken in the kitchen, which, is an open one and an extremely clean one with owners keeping a constant vigil on what goes across its counters.
I have been to enough restaurants ,dhabbas, Michelin stars to understand that no matter how efficient you are there are always good days and bad.
For an outdoor restaurant the fat chef has but one problem constantly mentioned and of which i would like to bring some light on.
Being an open restaurant flies are a big bother and the owners at Fat chef are trying every possible yet safe method to reduce the menace by putting up several herbal fly catchers. Mind you, its herbal cause it is a place where food is being served! There is considerable reduction in the appearance of our annoying friends and if one is expecting to see none at all then really, you might as well never venture for an outdoor eating experience. At least not here in India!
What should really matter is the food, cleanliness, freshness of the produce and the service.
The Fat chef lives up to all of this and more.
A must visit!

Flies in Food & Arrogant Staff

Well at first looked like a place to be but..."flies" swimming in" Watermelon Ice Tea" and few of them relaxing on Caesar Salad ruined whole dining experience if planning to go here on weekends and especially during afternoon "Avoid it" hell lot of "flies" hoover around and you have to quite literally cover your plates and eat. Well let me tell some more about my experience at this place. When we protested, the man (with Mustache) says rudely he cannot do anything and blamed all poor mango tree and tries to cover up all this his arrogant behavior the only relief was Matieem, who took care of whole issue and dealt with it quite nicely at the time of billing.

I would not suggest this place if you care about hygiene and want your food to be "flies free". Over that really arrogant staff will ruin your dining experience.

One of my favorites in Bangalore..

I used to be a regular at The Fat Chef -- and made it back recently after a break of a few months, having just watched the opening of a new play at the theater next door. My friends and I had an absolutely fantastic evening, and I felt compelled to finally write this review on Burrp. The restaurant has not lost any of its cozy and warm ambiance, The food was different (try their beer-batter prawns, or their watermelon salad -- truly yummy) and exciting as always, and the wine choices continue to delight. The service was a tad slower than normal but that was because the sudden surge of patrons who had just attended the play. The owners of the place - Mayur, Vandana and Matheen continue to add a personal flavor to the experience by checking in on customers regularly. It is no wonder that over the last year, The Fat Chef has carved a loyal following for its itself among not only Whitefield dwellers, but also Bangaloreans at large. The Fat Chef -- I'll be back for more!

Horrible Service in Fat Chef

Fat Chef is near to my office, we had been there for a team lunch on a Friday, We ordered some starters which was served 40 minutes after we ordered and after regular reminders and the Main course was much later after further 30minutes wait. There were lots of house flies, But the Most horrible experience was when we asked the steward for list of desserts, He just with an attitute and rude tone asked us to check for ourselves on the black board on the outside (as if we were not welcome). We all left without having the desserts.

The food was average.

But Why would you pay when the service is awful 7K for 10 people, when there are plenty of other restaurants, which provide better service and similar food

Great Food

It was one of those break-the-ice meals that I had here. I had had a fight with my friend and were more or less quiet the whole weekend. He new if something could cheer me up and get me to talk,it was good food.Anyday, any time good food makes me forget all bothers of life. The fat chef is a dainty place.I could go there just for the ambiance if not for the food.We ordered strawberry ice tea, fish n chips and a minced lamb pizza.[This visit was about 2 weeks back and i am surprised i still remember the dishes correctly :D ) .
Well anyway, the service was prompt.Strawberry ice tea was amazing and we could have fought over the last sip. I had been wanting to try fish n chips since a long time now. I am no sea food lover but i can tell u it was really well cooked and tasty.
By the time the pizza reached our table we were almost full but the show must go ON! and so we did....ate the pizza completely. The only problem it was thin crust and the crust was overcooked that made it overly crispy.Barring that..i loved the meat on it.
Needless to say the fight was forgotten before we even left the place. Thanks Fat Chef

Delightful!

Thanks to all the great reviews here, we tried this place out last week. We were instantly charmed by the ambience - the blackboard menu, nice lighting and the outdoor seating area were really pretty. The food turned out to be quite up to our expectations - especially the grilled fish in mustard sauce - super soft fish, very flavourful sauce. The mushroom stuffed chicken waS a mixed experience...while the stuffing was delicious, the chicken was a little too tough. Here too, the sauce was very nice. Unfortunately, we didn't have any space left for dessert that day - and I'd gladly go back! :)

Dissappointing service

Had heard a lot about this place and reserved it for our Valentine's Day celebration this week. After an hour long drive to get here, they promptly gave us a table outside at 8.30 and our orders were served on time too.. but that's where the problem started.

The manager / owner of the place started micro managing the kitchen and his staff with his voice increasing as time passed. After a while it wasn't a romantic quiet dinner anymore as all we could here was his voice shouting at his staff and at one instance going inside the kitchen and beating one of the cooks. After a lady guest went up and gave him a peace of her mind he melowed down for a while.

Thanks to this chap our evening was almost ruined if not for the good food they served. Oh and our bill didn't arrive for 20 mins even after multiple reminders. We finally had to walk up to the counter and pay.

They were just not prepared to handle crowds and were totally mismanaged.

Don't think i'll take the trouble of going back there again.

Welcome change

Since this place has its share of positive reviews, commence I shall with what my gourmand acquaintances and I find truly irksome and tends to mar what is otherwise, a pleasant dining experience. For the skinny, misers, soup-and-salad crowd, dieters, those who gravitate towards the cheapest items on the menu, and those who order only once, it may not seem a gross inconvenience but when four adults, usually male, are inclined to order upwards of 12 dishes, it can become quite silly. Yes, it's the whole experience with the menu that I refer to.

Whose idea was it to place the menu, one and only, at the entrance ?? Fat chef is fine, but must he be lazy too ?? Being the sort who pore over a menu with the gravity that is normally afforded to a GMAT exam paper, it is quite a vexatious when it is not readily available. Yes, it's supposed to remind one of a bistro or a quaint place in the French countryside but here, the result is pure aggravation.

How's the experience otherwise ?? The food is quite nice, though the servings are rather small, and the staff is friendly. I visit frequently and one hopes that the oversight with menu component is remedied posthaste.

Medium-Rare!

Finding a steak in this city is a difficult thing. Ideally, medium-rare, seared on the outside, pink on the inside, juices running clear as you slice through with what should arguably be something just a notch sharper than a butter knife, because what's the point of a hunk of meat if it isn't good quality?

It was therefore with some apprehension that I ordered me a steak at The Fat Chef, because until now, its only been Mr Sajnani that has consistently delivered. Until now. I'm happy to say that I was left with two choices at the end of my steak - yes, the one that was beautifully seared on the outside, the one whose antecedents I was tempted to find out about because I was rather pleased with how quickly it melted in my mouth.

My dilemma? To return home and recall the meal in dreamtime, or return to work? A no-brainer really.

Delicious food, Wonderful ambience, Great service!

The Fat Chef was a restaurant recommended highly and we nearly went there twice but ended up elsewhere. While driving towards Forum Value Mall one weekend, I spotted this place (hard to miss as it’s on the varthur main road!). It is situated inside an apartment complex with ample parking space.

The restaurant itself is quite charming and laidback, with plenty of sunlit areas inside and outside. The menu was chalked on blackboards outside (reminds one of the cafes abroad) and I read on their FB page that they don’t have a fixed menu and change as per the food cooked on that day! What I recommend: have one of those boards inside as well, it is very inconvenient to stand there and order as you enter especially in bigger groups!

There were several seating areas and we chose one which was at the middle of the bungalow. It was under a skylight, bright and airy! Since we were in a large group, we needed a bigger table and the others (in the patio area) were already reserved. Note: reserve in advance on weekends as they have a sizable crowd here.

The menu is an interesting mix of Indian and World Cuisine. There was some good stuff on the board and we spent some time deciding on the orders. Since we were all ravenous, we decided on multiple orders.

Here’s what we ordered: Beer Batter Prawns, Prawns Shaslik, Beef Steak, Pepper Chicken Steak, Fish in a Bag, Tomato Fish Fillet, Cottage Cheese Steak, Grilled Chicken with stuffed Prawns and Cheese, Pear Walnut Lettuce salad and Watermelon Juice.

Since there were so many yummy dishes, we tasted everything and to put it in a nutshell, it was amazing! The prawns, chicken, beef, fish was outstandingly fresh and the sauces complimented them perfectly. The salad was crisp, cold and fresh. The juice was fresh and deliciously thick!

The combination of various veggies and mashed potatoes with the dishes were balanced well with the main courses.

Just great

Decided to eat at the Fat chef based on the many good reviews. Three of us are vegetarians and we ordered 3 salads, a veg pizza and a pasta. All three salads were fresh, tasty and top of the line ingrediants. (i've had some bad mozzarella and tomato salad in other restaurants). The pizza was full of veggies and tasty. The penne arrabiata had a lovely smoked flavour and was just perfectly spicy. Service was great and the staff were friendly. Ambience is casual and nice as it is semi outdoors. Highly recommended (for vegetarians who want to eat authentic italian food that is tasty and not bland like some other places)

Sunny side up

Why is it that most of the new places in Whitefield seem to be more suited for lesisurely lunches rather than active dinners/drinks? Is it to do with the profile of the residents or the restaurant owners themselves...or is there an inherent assumption that people will anyway head towards Indranagar and beyond to party, so what's the use?

That observation aside, The Fat Chef is another piece of the extremely attractive area Whitefield is becoming for evolved eating places. Cozy seating, both indoors and on a covered verandah, sets the tone for the meal...whether it be the smiling hosts with ever-ready suggestions or the menu chalked out on a board. The food itself ranges from the decent to the very good (across the five or six times I have been there), which is a very good rate! Insider tip - they do great things with fish :)

All in all, a much recommended place to try out...and yes, they do better lunches than dinners!

Good food and ambiance

So, fed up of sub-standard restaurants in and around Marathahalli (The likes of 'The Village' etc), I was abt to head to "town" for decent restaurants when I chanced upon 'this fat chef'. It is in an apartment and so I was not expecting much out of it. Boy! was I so wrong!

Seeing the other reviews I wonder if mine is any use, unless I want to differ from them, which I don't. Good food and ambiance. I love the small library they have on cook-books. So, definitely give this fat guy a shot at soothing your taste-buds.

An evenning by the garden in a bungalow

I was taken to The Fat Chef for a treat by my GF who was going there for a 2nd time. I was impressed the moment i entered as it reminded me of Bungalow9 in Bombay. the interiors are really nice with flowers on the glowing candles and seating by the garden area. It's housed in a bungalow and immediately makes you at home . The food i really tasty. We ordered Nachos which had the most amazing salsa sauce and bean dip . I then ordered a Veggies Pizza which was generous with all sort of veggies and cheese and exceeded my expectations. the Quiche that my friend ordered was equally Yummy. A must visit for Yummy food and warm ambience where you can easily spend a couple of hours catching up with friends.

Good food at a price

An easy to get to place right off the varthur main road. There is decent parking and doesnt feel crowded inside. The place doesnt have a theme per say, but the ambience is quite and decent. The food is high on quality and low on quantity. A one by two soup will not keep two people happy. And similarly for the starters and main course, quantity is found wanting for the price.

The service is excellent with attention to detail and the wards are courteous. They could do with an actual menu instead of writing on the black board in front.

good non veg food

Had been there today afternoon.
we had ordered beer batter prawns and BBQ chicken wings for starters.
Batter fried prawns was quite nice, although quiet bland, but nice, fresh and juicy prawns.
BBQ chicken wings was less of chicken and more of bones, so was a disappointment. but the barbeque sauce was delicious.
for main course we had ordered
beef steak - nicely done, good quantity as well but would have been better if they would have given an option of having it with bread instead of mashed potatoes,
prawns stuffed chicken - not so nice, bit bland and no coordination between prawns and chicken in terms of taste
and finally prawns shashlik - nicely barbequed and having a noticeable taste of charcoal in it which was quiet nice.
i had veg friends along with me as well, but cannot comment on it as i dint taste it myself, but the general feedback about veg food was that it was ok-ok and not all that great.

Wonderful Sunday Afternoon

Was there last Sunday afternoon with family and friends - about 7 adults and 5 kids. We spent about 3 leisurely hours at The Fat Chef. The ambience, the food, the service were all great. We had some Beer Batter Prawns, Mexican Chicken Balls and Mexican Veg Balls and they were so good that we asked for repeats. For the main course we ordered some pasta (mainly for the kids), pepper chicken steak and some pizza. It was my first time for pizza at The Fat Chef and did not expect it to be great but was pleasantly surprised. I don’t think I can count this in the best pizza I have eaten, but it did come close. Then came the best dishes of the day. The Choco Walnut cake and the Christmas Pudding were out of the world!!!! The Christmas Pudding is a must have. Thanks for a lovely afternoon….

Share:

Another good experience

Went there couple of days back and had chicken loaf with white wine sauce. It was delicious. This was part of the new items they have added for the Christmas season. Also had the whole wheat thin crust pizza which was also great! To end it all was simply amazing Christmas pudding! The best I ever had.

Big no considering the price

Well with average ambiance and flies and wasps around , i was let down. Like cool european food jonts, the menu is hand written on black borad my expectations went on the higher side hence we made sizable order. Trust me only a few things were even nearingthe average taste.

Starters :

Beer Batter Prawns : Nicely cooked and kind of juices retained : 4/5

Chicken Wings : Not sure if they knew what chicken wings are. Hard and chewy with some random chicken cuts : 2/5

Some mushroom and cheese thingy : 3/5

Main course :

Chicken Pepper steak : since when the steak started becoming soggy. Instead of it being juicy it was soggy : 1/5

The mashed potato given was like a syryp of indian potato mash

Roasted chickenbreast stuffed with prawns : same issue, soggy chicken, tasteless sauce : 2/5

Chicken Stroganoff : simple dish with simple taste : 3/5

there were 2 vegeterian stuffs which we ordered. just average.

May be I will visit again by my expectations will be very low.

Not a good experience

Tried this place on a week day for dinner.
Ambiance was ok but too many mosquitoes. We ordered a lasagna, but after 20 minutes the waiter comes and tells me that lasagna is over. So again had to get up and go to the counter to see the menu. (they don't have menu cards, just a black board at the cash counter)
Finally placed the order - spaghetti with meat balls and also a starter. But portions were too small. For the price they charge, it is not worth it. Taste was ok.
In the end when the bill came, they had charged for lasagna as well!
Ambiance - 2/5, Service - 1/5, Taste - 4/5, Value for money - 1/5, Overall - 2/5

For a tasty candle light dinner!!

With a nice and homely ambience, Fat chef is probably one of the best places for continental food.
Entrance is bit weird as it is at the back of a theater but with parking space.
The menu was scribbled on a board at the entrance in front of a very classy wine bar.
We are supposed to place our orders before we actually get a table.
We were assisted well to make a good veg and non veg choices.
We got a fine table next to the courtyard. The ambience looked perfect and place looked very nice in the night. Both the inside and outside seatings are good.(I am really not sure about how it looks in the day.)
We ordered cream of mushroom soup, mexican veg balls, Beer battered prawns,a greek dish- Moussaka and Stuffed chicken with cheese and prawn. And a Walnut cake to end with.

The range of desserts not so great, but cant complain much about it.
We were pleasantly surprised at the speed which soup and the starters were served.
Quantity was sufficient, not disappointed at all. The prawns were so very crisp on the bite.
The chicken breast stuffed with cheese and prawns served with mashed potato and salad. This dish is incredibly delicious.
We couldn't try any of their wine varieties. Probably next time!

Service was warm and friendly.
Whole experience was good, except that it could have been great if there were some discount for visa, master or amex cards.

Good place for a tasty candle light dinner.

Good start but losing steam

I have been a regular visitor of this joint and have had around 6-8 meals over the last year or so. The felt that the taste as well as the standards did gradually dip over a period of time . My first couple of visits were i guess during the initial phase of the restaurent and i had the fat shef himself , his friend and one lady( i assume his better half) cooked the most amazing recipies. The same recipies gradually lost the charm over y next few visits. Especially during the screening of popular plays in the theatre which fat chef shares the ambience with ,wen there is a high amount of rush , the quality and service dips . On days when there is little rush the food is much better. nevertheless i guess i must have had the best of fat chef in the beggining. Hoping to have the same taste again sometime....

Must visit

Visited The Fat Chef again today with my family.Thefood is really good I would say its a must visit for all people that want a good meal at moderate prices this part of town. I noticed that they had some Indian food as well. The bef steak was a real stand out. I also have to talk aboutthecharm of eating ones meal besides their garden with the rain coming down. Also in Bangalore where service can sometimes be sterile it was lovely to see the warm but not intrusive service. I would recommend this place to all who want to eat a good meal in a charming setting.

Great Food and ambience!

We came across the reviews for Fat Chef here at Burrp and planned to try out the place.
The ambience is amazing. It has nice retro look to it... they even have books on continental cooking on the shelves :) They also have a great collection of wines.

The continental menu is well chosen and the flavors are amazing. The entire team is very courteous and pleasant to interact with.
IMHO one of the BEST continentals in the whole of Bangalore!! Only few places are able to meet their claim so well! Worth the money and definitely worth visiting!!
Loved it :D

Doesn't taste quite as good coming up

Went to the Fat Chef for dinner with the family. The ambience was nice and the service was great. The food tasted pretty good too but the downside was that it didn't want to stay down. I threw up on coming home but I'd had a fair bit of wine, so we put it down to that (got quite a ribbing from the wife about how my age has diminished my capacity too!). But it turned out that it wasn't me after all. My son was in and out of the bathroom all night and my wife was feeling sick the whole of the next day. Thankfully, it was not anything serious and we are all doing fine now. However, I don't think that I would feel comfortable about going there again.

Great food and a very nice location !!

Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Every dish was delicious and we had to repeat most to satisfy our taste buds.
Do try the spinach cream soup and the spinach quiche - they were awesome.
The pasta and even the bread was yummy!
A little on the expensive side but definitely worth it.
The staff is cordial too.
Nice location with parking available too.

Good place but too pushy

Let me make it very clear that the food at The Fat Chef is very good and fresh ... flavours blend very well and the variety in both veg and non veg is good enough to choose from ... we enjoyed the starters very much and main course was also good (exept Indian dishes, which is fair given the overall bent towards world cuisine).

Only thing that will be a roadblock in our visiting them again and especially with guests to host is that the owner is very pushy in his attitude ... a major turn off for my guests last evening and a little embarassing as well ... order-taking was hurried as 2 staff members come to you with a board and loudly announce each dish ... without a smile of course and more so as if instructing us :) ... that was all bearable and goes well with the name of the place but ....

But what was not tolerable was the fact that we were asked to leave as soon as the bill was paid ... well, no one would want to block a table but we were actually waiting for one of our guests to come from the washroom ... have eaten in many places and can understand that the churn needs to be there but the owners need a little more patience ... give guests a little time to leave ... if its hurting you too much then please request politely and please do not announce it to all the guests on my table ... you can come to one of us and request ... and the host shall oblige immediately.

Serene ambience , awesome food and warm people

I have been to Fat chef several times and tasted a lot of delicious dishes s. My son loves the beer batter prawns, I love the special water melon ice tea to start with, followed by Nachos and dips and love to stand and gaze at the elaborate menu of authentic food; most of the time I feel restricted that I have one stomach and can order only one main course dish?
I have had the prawn stuffed chicken and tasted some awesome steak from my husband’s plate. Recently at one of our friends Sunday afternoon party I had some amazing chicken lasagna and also topped my plate with the vegetarian lasagna , I must say for the vegetarian loves this dish is a must have. Finally I ended this heavenly experience with desserts, TFC(The fat c hef) has the best chocolate mouse and blue berry cheese cake. Most importantly all this is severed with utmost care and a smile on the face.
Cheers, Nuze

Good food and ambiance, and a lil expensive

I went to Fat Chef last tues and it was quiet, not busy. i was impressed the way the owner helped me choose the type of wine I wanted. Though they serve only wine, they do have a wide variety of them. i ordered humus with lamb (Rs190) for starters and it was lip smacking. For main course the stuffed chicken with cheese and prawns (Rs330) was real good too but the chicken steak (Rs 290) didnt meet my expectation. Finished off the meal with Apple Pie which turned out to be a disappointment cause it had more raisins, less apple and a thick upper crust. The service is good, they do try to make you feel comfortable and put in extra effort. For the ambiance, food, music and service I found the place a little on the expensive side but end of the day I had a pleasant relaxed evening with good food and service.

After checking out all the positive reviews here, we planned to head out to this restaurant for dinner. We ordered a few dishes which we expected to be really great, they ended up being just ok. Nice quiet place with good food

The place has a limited menu and probably that is why they don't have a menu card which is a little annoying. The food was great, loved the lasagna. We were a group of six and we ordered about 2 starters and 4 dishes. Everything was good if not great. The place is next to a theater so the crowd which generally comes to this place is a little sophisticated. All in all, nice place, decent food, worth a try. Probably not the place for a bunch of guys but a 'nice' place to go with your girlfriend

The Piazza Experience

So we finished watching a play and were extremely hungry. The Fat Chef beckoned and we walked in. The entire day's stress, the driving through crazy traffic (we stay all the way in Frazer Town), the rush to get in on time, all that tension melted away in the serene ambience of TFC. The moment I saw the German Riesling peeping at me from behind the glass, I was sold. My husband is a pure non vegetarian and I am a pure vegetarian so we picked our individual meals from the black board.
Entree was bruschetta and chilli (chicken) balls. Both were quite tasty. Fort the main course my husband chose a primavera, which he found was "good stuff". The Ratatouille was not what I expected, it was a pasta instead of layered roasted vegetables, however it tasted nice. The dessert was really bliss on a plate the lemon pie without the cream layer would have been unadulterated divinity, with cream it was a piece of sunshine smothered in clouds. A delectable and tasty dish nonetheless, considering neither of us has a sweet tooth. I would drive all the way there just for wine again!!

ambiance does not make a place to visit again

surprisingly i am going against the all reviews :( heard a lot more about THE FAT CHEF but unfortunately i was disappointed
this place got a very very nice ambiance surrounded with a very friendly people, but the sad part is FOOD.i went for dinner with my friends we choose to go with chicken for the main course.what we got on the plate was :
2 sliced tomato (slightly roasted & the best thing to have from the plate)
a corn (not steamed r not baked, with out any seasoning )
a spoonful of mashed potato (sticky again without any seasoning, not at all creamy texture)
a huge piece of chicken with raw cheese inside (not melted not seasoned, felt really awful while eating that cheese).

Basic taste includes of extra virgin olive oil and parsley that's all. i guess this kind of food may not satisfy the really Indian foodie :(

a different experience - margin for improvement

Friday Night, went for a dinner. the table was booked in advance and unlike some other joints, they really had a 'reserved' tag on the table.
Place - its built in the compound of an apartment so getting there was confusing. Has the feel of a make-shift restaurant in the backyard of a house with a bunch of tables out in open while others in a sort of a lobby. overall ambience is ok and can be termed as a little 'cozy' if you are in a larger group.
Service - good! there are a group of well educated folks taking care of this and possibly running it as a side business. but with a lot of passion. alhough it is unlike a typical restaurant where you have a manager and waiters but a very homely environment with the hosts taking order and serving food.
Food - was good, ordered a couple of continental dishes and was satisfied with the quality of the same. only issue is that the menu is very limited and manipulated too! they have it written on small blackboards with a chalk and that too placed in an awkard location where you must take a walk to go and see it and then come back to your table to place the order! weird, nevertheles. Though they say world cuisine, getting one cuisine from India doesnt make it an indian restaurant!
Overall very limited choices, esp. for a vegetarian, but decent food and welcoming service.
a place recommended for outing with friends/family on a weekday.

Global Cuisine Central

Truly a Global Restaurant for World Cuisine.
I prefer to begin with some white wine and a Chicken Starter. Fish in the main course and end the evening with an Apple Pie. My husband is a Vegetarian and he enjoys the Veggie Menu alot.
I live in Mysore, and my trip to Bangalore is incomplete without a visit to The Fat Chef.
Try the Thai and Continental menu, a guarantee you won't be disappointed. The ambience is perfect for a quiet getaway from the city's normal busy restaurants and hustle bustle.
On a midweek evening the place is breezy and comfortable, who needs an Aircon?
Been here, and will keep going to THE FAT CHEF.

Nothing exceptional

Went to 'Fat Chef' last night after a friend recommended it.

Ambience is plain and elegant, something that pleases me. The staff closed the rear section which is juxtaposed with an apartment complex. The sensitivity is highly appreciated; not many people with a commerce on their minds think like these guys.
The food is nothing great, some of the restaurants in Indiranagar (which is 30 mins away) are far better in terms of quality and quantity.
We ordered tomato soup, which I thought tasted a bit Knorr-ish while my partner swore that it was probably made in-house. The vegetarian Arabiata and Cheese steak were ordinary. The chocolate lava for dessert was consistent with the rest of the food in being nothing exceptional.

Value for money? Yes.

To put it bluntly, its not anything that I'd recommend simply because the food is ordinary.

I'll be back!

I absolutely love it when I enter a new establishment and see that someone has put some thoughts into the decor. I especially liked how the interior of the restaurant has a combination of rock cut walls and perfectly white pillars and beams. I thought it's very modern "Karnatakan". The food is good but nothing with a "wow" factor but I think it has a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to coming back soon. For some photos, click here:

Nice Ambiance, Excellent food!

I have visited TFC a few times starting from its inception. The food which was good and has improved even more over the past weeks. Excellent beer batter prawns, awesome T-bone steak, Nachos with the accompaniments was great and a very interesting tasty dish called Chicken stuffed with prawns and cheese. Love the uniqueness of most dishes available. What is also appealing is that the menu is not vast and is on the black board. Selected dishes of various cuisines makes it a unique experience. The desserts are simply to die for. Love the ambiance. Very relaxed and always feel like staying on longer. Kudos to the founders and the Chef who jointly own the restaurant!

Has Potential For More

Four of us hopped over to The Fat Chef on a rainy Sunday evening a few days back.

Relatively easy to locate and get in. Reasonably pleasing ambience (one can see the thought and the concept in the decor) though it can be perfected in the days to come. Somehow, the decor did not translate into immense actual comfort (it was quite humid on the outdoor tables, the chairs slightly stiff).

We ordered two rounds of starters and four main courses. The women in our group were on chicken and loved it. The men (which included me) were veg. and were extremely disappointed.

Moreover, the drinks menu was very, very scant. And wine (no other alcohol available) was not served by the glass (even the Indian ones) - cajoling and begging simply did not work: it fetched diligent smiles but alas, no wine. Unfortunate to write this but the life-saver for me was a generous serving of Tropicana orange juice (the only fresh juice available was watermelon which I do not quite fancy).

The personnel (one of them seemed to be the owner) seemed very genuine and eager to help. Though staff competency (especially, considering the French dishes) can be easily improved.

May visit again in several months on (another) rainy day, if I have to. But wouldn't count on it.

Decent food, average ambience

The Bad - The ambience unlike what the other reviewers said was a putoff. It looks like converted clubhouse, has no AC and not all parts of the restaurant have fan.

The good - The food on the whole was good, the bruschettas were nice, the steak was nicely cooked, the cheesecake was nice.

The not so good - The pasta and the veggies with the steak were smeared with pepper. The electricity kept going off which was a bit irritating.

The very good - The energetic owners, you want to like this place because of them.

Great Music,lovely ambience,good food &a fat chef

Great food. A feat for those who live or work around the place. The people around are really nice and helpfu;. I would love to visit again and again. My only request is to add a few veggie options. A veg steak would help. ome more italian starters would be good too. The ambience is lovely and relaxed, the music complements that. I would suggest anyone to go here if they want to relax and puul away from the madness of work.

A must visit...

TFC is a nice place to be in with a good location and ambience. For foodies, its a must visit. It was my first time, and I would prefer visiting it again.

The people around were friendly and they knew the food they were serving. I saw a lot of exquisite pastries, but did not get a chance to have them. They looked mouth watering. We had Curry Rice (Veg & Prawn). They were well made, had a good homely touch. The tomato soup was well done. Overall presentation and preperation of food was really good.

I do have a couple of suggestions:
I would recommend to improve on the Crab Meat soup. I guess, they have to keep a check on the seafood frehness.
As well, I would reccomend them to come up with a MENU card soon. :-)

Absolutely Amazing!

After a nice movie 6 of us headed to "The Fat Chef' which had been rated as a 10/10 by colleagues at work. The ambience is simple, the menu is simple but above all else the food is sooper delicious. Being a new place service was a tad bit slow, but hey as long as they serve with a smile and the food is good who cares!

For starters we had Nachos which was served with Sour cream, Salsa and Mashed Beans. Sweet chilly Prawns - a must have. I tried the Lemon grilled chicken which was really simple but delicious. The dessert is too die for. Choco Lava - Hmmmmm Heaven and the Choco Mousse made with Swiss chocolate sent us to Heaven and back. The Owners were extrememly warm and made sure we enjoyed our dinner. All in all a Fantastic experience. My Rating: 10/10

Hi Suchita -- Thank you for your candid feedback and warm comments. We appreciate your patience -- yes, the service tends to get a bit slow during weekends when the place gets packed. We are glad you enjoyed the food and hope to see you and your friends more often.

Delightful

Went to "The Fat Chef" over the weekend, and was simply wowed! First the place; elegant, yet simple, warm, and welcoming. That's the first thing I like to notice about any new restaurant I try - whether it seems intimidating or appealing. My first reaction on seeing the place, even before trying out the food was - "I should come back here.".

First came the cappucino; wow! Heavenly! My friends had Iced Teas and they couldn't stop praising.

And then came the food - damn good! It suited me very well - neither spicy nor bland, right quantity, and tasted exquisite.

To sum it up, I'd recommend it for any evening of relaxed fine dining.

Excellent food

I've been to Fat Chef twice in the last fortnight, once on a mid week evening and once again on a sunday afternoon. My take is;

a) Mains & Desserts: 4 to 5/5

b) Ambience: 4/5 (could be better if they could do something on the mosquitoes in the evening and the heat during lunch times as there is no a/c)

c) Salad: 3/5 (I had ordered Caesar's Salad and Greek Salad and thought had scope for improvement - my reference point being Toscanos, Sunny and Herbs n Spices)

d) Value for Money: 4.5/5

Do I look to come back again ? Of course and would recommend to others too.

Cosy, comfortable and fantastic food!

I was travelling to Bangalore and happened to visit this cosy little place tucked away in a corner. The ambience had something very relaxing about it. Such a welcome break from the hustle bustle.
Some of my favourite dishes were the crispy meatballs and the beer battered prawns. The watermelon ice tea is to die for!!! And it's amazing how economical it was.
The selection of wines is great and the music, decor etc added such a nice touch to a overall fantastic experience. A must visit.

Beer Battered mmmmhhhaa

I went inside The Fat Chef for a late lunch. And came out after a late dinner. No, I am not going through a mid-life crisis. And yes, I am gainfully employed and quite busy, thank you. The mistake we (a childhood friend of mine was with me) made was that we got ourselves a table next to the inner courtyard. And after a while it was like we were sitting at the beach in your linens and slippers and wine glass with all the time in the world. The place is so relaxing.

Then they killed us. The Fat Chef served us beer battered prawns as appetizers. I really really liked the first bite. The second bite, i took it dipped in the sauce served at the side. My eyes widened with excitement when the almost perfect blend of the Dip and the Dipped touched my tongue. And i was hooked.

I am a fussy foodie. Where food is concerned, I love to find faults and I love it even more to air it. (the other day, i was at The Hard Rock Cafe arguing with the chef about the right way to make buffalo wings). And The Fat Chef has thrown the gauntlet. Now I have to keep visiting The Fat Chef until i can find something to criticize or I become a pauper (Me becoming a pauper looks more probable now).

A couple of other things i want to say before i leave. I know the management in a lot of establishments go out and meet the customers. But in The Fat Chef, there is a real conversation happening between them and you. They not just hear you. They listen. They don't give you excuses; but instead explain why it is what it is. Even if you come in alone, they make sure you are not 'lonely, I am so lonely, I have nobody' state of mind (unless you really like to be by your grumpy old self).

The one thing i would like to disagree with the (((burrp))) review is that it is expensive. I think this is one place in Bangalore where you get more value than the money you spent.

All right Fat Chef, get into the kitchen. I am coming for lunch. (And hope to stay on for dinner)

P.S - You want to know what a real brownie should taste like - Go to The Fat Chef.

the rendezvouz place

The big fat chef is quitely tucked away in a corner and if you are specifically not looking for it you could miss it, for those of you who want to visit, it is just behind Jagriti Theatre which shares the same compound wall of the entrance of Palm Meadows. My wife and I tried this place out after watching a play at Jagriti theatre. I was quite delighted with the place. They do not have any menu cards which is a refreshing change and the menu keeps changing. The have good selection of continental, indian street food and some oriental. We had two starters which essentially was beer battered prawns and portion of nachos with cheese and beans and I must say both were good. For main course we had a veal steak curry ( apparently you get this dish as a street food in bangalore) and a chicken caserole and again i was not dissapointed. We hardly had any space after all this and decided to share a mud cake which was a great ending( incidently they bake their cakes themselves). There is a nice bar which has a good selection of wines which is tucked on one corner of the restaurant. the owners have decorated the walls with some very personal touches, for e.g one wall has some rare comic covers of yesteryears. I would recomend this place for anyone who wants to have some good food and good conversation anytime during the day. I am quite sure I will visit again. Didn't know howto give half a star I will rate this place as 3.5 on a scale of 5.

The Fat Chef Prologue

One of the nice things about life is the way we regularly stop whatever it is we are doing, and devote our attention to good food, good friends and great music.
That is exactly what we offer at The Fat Chef- a chance to do all of that!!

Away from all the hustle bustle of the city The Fat Chef Nestled in Whitefield an upscale suburb of Bangalore.

At The Fat Chef we serve a healthy breakfast, a wholesome lunch, and a relaxed dinner.

The breads, soups and salads are fresh, natural and taste great. Ice Tea, Summer Coolers, an extensive variety of teas, strong American style coffee, and espressos with plenty of crema is available on request.

We prefer to regard a dessert as one would imagine the perfect woman: subtle, a little bittersweet, not extrovert. Delicately made up, not highly rouged, holding back, not exposing everything and, of course, with a flavor that lasts.

Our passion with Collectibles is strikingly obvious in our furniture, decor and lovingly collected artifacts.

Our collection of music features soloists, duos, trios, quartets and big bands both electric and acoustic. For the right crowd we may even play car tunes and hand out prizes to the most knowledgeable!

Team get-togethers and birthday parties are a regular feature on our lawns.

We cherish the experience that good food, good friends and great music create
We would love to share it with you.

The Fat Chef…drop in… for one of the nice things in life!
