The Sidewalk Cafe, The Paul Reviews

Not 24x7

I called up these guys to check if they are open at 1 am but got to know that they close by 11:45 :( No idea about the quality, etc.

very nice find

love the decor and the service. had gone for the buffet on one occasion - the spread was huge and both veg & non-veg friendly. food from each cuisine was tasty. Desserts were okay. and not as expensive as you'd expect!

A visit to Remember!

My best experience so far amongst the various restaurants I visited in Bangalore. Great service. Delicious food & lovely ambience. Expensive it is, but thanks to DineClub card, was able to save a great deal.

Must visit

Went with my husband on last saturday, must say a very nice romantic place, perfectly suitable for a date. Very good food, with great ambience. Thanks DineClub for introducing me to such a place! Will surely visit again.

Very Pretty Place

This place has been on my "to go" list for quite a while and a few days ago, the perfect opportunity to visit it presented itself. So, after a short drive from Indiranagar, we arrived at the hotel's front gates and deciding against the hassle of driving in and having a valet park my car, I parked the car outside the gates. We strolled inside, and made our way through the beautiful foyer, to the restaurant. There was hardly any crowd (just two tables were occupied) and, so we were able to choose seats for ourselves. We chose corner seats and sat down comfortably in them. The waiter presented us with the menus and politely withdrew. I glanced through the drinks menu but, not feeling like a drink, declined to order any. My friend also didn't feel inclined to drink so, by mutual consent we moved on to the food menus and soon settled on a seafood chowder soup which we decided to split between us, a salad for me, a main course for him and a dessert. The seafood chowder turned out to be a good choice and was packed with the lobsters and prawns which the menu had promised. It tasted delicious and we spooned up every mouthful. My salad, which consisted of baby potatoes in their jackets, pickled onions and a creamy salad dressing was lovely. My friend's dish was medium rare beef with gravy and he enjoyed it thoroughly. Salad and main course over, we ordered a Tiramisu. Now this, was a disappointment. It was NOT a Tiramisu. My friend and I are Tiramisu fans and eat this at most places we go to. While we have tasted Tiramisus ranging from not good to absolutely authentic (Mynt at the Taj West End offers a really authentic one), this was the first time we were given a cake which was passed off as a Tiramisu. Anyways, we ate it, albeit sadly. I busied myself between courses and while waiting for the bill (it took a while), with looking around the restaurant and I loved all I saw. The restaurant has the theme of an old London street with old-style street lamps giving off a glow above the tables. There are lovely paintings on the wall and the furniture is comfortable. The service is quite good and while it isn't the fastest, the food is certainly worth the wait (save for the frozen cake, sorry Tiramisu). This is certainly a place to try out, at least once.

Romantic place!

Had been there last Saturday. Made a booking in advance - found out later that it was not required. There was only one other table occupied. I started getting second thoughts whether this would be worth it..

The place looked very beautiful, with perfect lighting and ambience for a quiet laid-back date.

The menu looked good, with a nice selection of Continental, North-Indian and Kerala cuisines. What surprised me is that instead of the expected bread basket, we were served with complementary Roasted papads to munch on! We went for the continental stuff. Ordered iced tea (Rs120), a breezer (Rs200) and Chicken with Pinenuts and Capers (Rs195) as starters. It took around 15mins for them to serve the first round.

We were not very hungry, so went in directly for the main course. I had a Grilled Beef on Rosti Potatoes (Rs425) and my wife had a Pollastrella (Rs375). The beef stake was cooked as I asked for, and was just perfect! The Pollastrella (chicken breast) was a bit disappointing as it tasted very much similar to the starter we ordered.

The desert was Gourmet Brulee (Chef's special Creme Brulee) (Rs225), which was ok. The sugar was still in full granular form. I like it more fine.

Overall, the service was very prompt. The waiter came and asked if we liked our food. We mentioned that the Pollastrella was very similar to the starter, and that we expected him to alert us on that. We didn't receive any response on that except for a smile.

Anyway, experience was great. Had a wonderful time. Would definitely visit again.

Nice place but costly

We recently went to The Paul - Sidewalk Cafe. The ambience is good. The food (veg) was ok but prices are on higher side. Average meals for two costed around 1000 bucks.

The tomato soup with ginger was awesome. Tried mushroom starter and paneer curry with dal makhani. One good thing is that they serve complementary nan/roti/plain rice along with main course curry. But the cost of curries start from Rs 300/- .

Overall its a good experience as it is a nice place and not very crowded. So if you want to go for a date, Sidewalk Cafe may be a good option.
