Worst Soup Ever!
I went to this place accompanied by my husband. He ordered for a Cream of tomato soup that tasted nothing beyond cream in bland tomato sauce. The service was slow and the music was too boring. The Dal makhni had no spices and was mounted with dollops of white butter. All in all, you can give this place a miss!
I have been to this place a couple of times and I always wonder about the huge menu here. They have a wide Indian selection plus a good spread of Italian and Chinese cuisine. To my surprise I have not been disappointed with anything that I ordered. The food is good and I always found the service very courteous. Overall a nice place.
Not Worth The Money
I had visited this restaurant after seeing reviews on burrp..I had gone here with my family and had high expectations about this place. But was too disappointed with the food. We ordered tomato basil soup which was very watery..Then we ordered an aloo sizzler which was pathetic. My stomach was upset for 3 days after eating this spicy food. Guys, please never order sizzlers from this restaurant. it tastes horrible. But for the quality and quantity of food served here the price is on the higher side and service is too slow although the restaurant was not crowded. Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone..Overall a bad experience
Good Food and Bad Service
Decided to visit this place last weekend after reading so many good reviews on burrp!. The decor is minimal, and there's outdoor seating too (though it was closed during lunch).
Menu was good, with a wide variety of items (nothing out of the box though).
We decided to order veg croquettes for starters, 2 mock-tails and hakka noodles and mofu tofu for main course.
Croquettes were really nice. Would definitely recommend the cucumber refreshment. The mock-tail I had ordered was horrible. Guess it was something with coconut cream. But, it turned out to be sweet and syrupy with some ice cream mixed.
Hakka noodles were kind of under cooked and very dry, and mofu tofu had very tiny pieces of tofu in it with an assortment of vegetables.
Since we were so disappointed by the chinese main course, but still not ready to give up on the place, we decided to order lasagne. And thankfully, we were pleasantly surprised. It was delicious, and baked perfectly. Garlic bread served along with it was delicious too.
The sad part was the extremely slow service. Our starters took a long time to arrive, and drinks took forever and came after we had finished our starters. Lasagne was done nicely, but the way it was slaughtered and served made me flinch :-)
Guess, we'll probably give this place another try and try out their signature dishes and Indian food.
Good place with a wide menu for Vegetarians!
When I entered Tomatina with family, the 1st reaction was that this place would not let me down.
Spacious, dimly lit with soft music playing. When you take a look at the menu, it seems to be a feast for Vegetarians. Menu options ranging from Continental, Chinese, Mexican, Sizzlers, Indian & special items for Jains.
Most of the items lived up to the expectations with distinct taste & flavour. Stewards are conscious to take notes on tweaking it to your taste (eg. less spicy, with / without mushrooms, etc.)
Would definitely have this place as a regular option and explore their menu.
Cost - Approx 1000 for 3 without ordering for drinks / mocktails
WE explored this place with our family and close relatives ..group of 9 ppl..
We went for dinner and tried out Thai curry,Momos,Paneer Platter. Gobi and Paneer Manchurian, Roti curry, Pasta and Trust me we all were floored by the options and all were happy with the meal ordered..
Must try place
Only negative point is that the place lacks ambience and the pricing is on the higher side wrt the serving size..
Bill was 4k for 11 dishes
Never ordering out from here again
I'd gotten some really high expectations before ordering out from here, based on earlier reviews here and on Zomato. But in the end, it was a bad experience.
I'd ordered the food home, thinking it'd match Punjabi Rasoi in taste (given that this place is MORE expensive and has great reviews). Turns out I was wrong. The food was VERY oily, COLD when it came (I live 1.5 kms from the restaurant) and OK at best in terms of taste (it was over spiced).
The chef could do with a lesson in real cooking.
To add insult to injury, the charged me a 5% service charge. For Home Delivery. Really??? When I called back, the staff and later the manager told me they've been doing it from the start (that doesn't make it right guys) and that they do it also because they don't charge packaging charges. If you do charge packaging charges, it'd be a fixed cost, genius. Not a variable 5% of total bill. That is PLAIN WRONG.
So the Manager, Varun, offered to send the service charge amount back, as "I didn't want to pay" (who would, genius). But it never arrived.
I'm never ordering from these guys again. Punjabi Rasoi is awesome by comparison.
Amazing! A true veggie paradise!
Had gone to Tomatina today! The buffet truly worth the money! Very good choices of items! Jain food also available, a variety of dishes to suit every palate! Truly a veggie lovers paradise! The starters and the soups are amazing! A wide choice of curries full of flavors! A must try for people looking for a pure veg buffet! :)
I only wish that there were more dessert options(there were only 3), but the ones we tasted were awesome!
A truly amazing place :)
Unpretentious and simple.
The lighting was quite good and music too, adding to the already great atmosphere and comfortable seating. The food was great. Loved the Indian spread and pasta. Coriander Lemon Soup was refreshing and not too filling.
If you are looking for a classy, yet no so expensive vegetarian place. This is it. Its a Fine-Vegetarian-Dine place. For a perfect family dining experience, this is ideal.
Decent veg steak.
Calm and relatively stylish this new restaurant offers high quality vegetarian food.
Decor is comfortably unpretentious. The food in the chinese section is really good and the service is very efficient. My favorites are specials, fried ice cream and the pastas. Pretty good Indian dishes when we were there, and not overpriced.
If you're totally vegetarian like me, you'll definitely like this restaurant too.
What sets this eatery apart is the fact that it offers a vast variety in comparison to other vegetarian establishments. The ambience inside is pleasant and youthful.. Jain varieties of most of the dishes are also available. The quality of food has always been good here. Almost everything is excellent, but if youre bewildered by the sheer variety, ask for the specials. Despite the slow service, Tomatina continues to be extremely popular and the kind of place its always a good time to visit.
Overall, its a good dining experience.
Value for money 7/10
Been longing to visit this place, finally got the chance a few days back.
The look and feel is quite different and likeable. The interiors have been done well. You have an option of sitting indoors or outdoors. The music out there is not too loud, which allows you to have some good conversations.
It is a place that you try once and frequent thereafter. It is excellent and its continental veg dishes can score over any of the premium restaurants.
great food and great service
I went there with family after reading some positive reviews and i have ended up here giving it a 5 star rating, thanks to the excellent food and highly responsive and friendly service. We tried some Indian dishes and a couple of thai dishes and the pad thai was better than most authentic thai restaurants in town. I will keep visiting this place and i hope they keep up the great food, ambience and service.
All in all, the food was great......
The food at this multi-cuisine restaurant never fails to satisfy. Well, for starters, there's lavish buffet spread during weekend lunches, which will leave you gasping at the variety. The a la carte menu boasts of Chinese, Italian, Indian and Thai dishes and everything is simply wonderful. the food scores way above average and if you are ready to compromise on the secondary issues you would actually like the place!! good for the times you really want to eat at a big restaurant but don't want to spend too much. buffet at 189 plus tax .. otherwise a meal for two would be 600-700!!
one of those less discovered places.
I had a buffet lunch at this restaurant on a thursday afternoon. It was priced at around 225 (inc tax) per head.
The buffet had a wide spread with a long list of items. There were lot of good veg items, especially starters.
The service is accurate and prompt.
I would definitely ask vegetarians to try out this place.
It's the perfect place for a Sunday afternoon.
A great place to dine if you are a pure vegetarian. An array of dishes, both Indian as well International, will spoil you for choices. I recommend Tomatina for a standard lunch anytime! Nothing to add to ambience but comfortable experience, If you like jain cuisine, don't miss it! The Sizzlers are pretty neat, and so is the quantity. Pasta's are also a good option, but nothing out of extraordinary.
All in all its a very cosy place to spend long hours, doesn't matter if you're alone or with friends!
Looking forward to my next visit.
It's quite rare for a restaurant to pull off fine-dining especially if the cuisine served is Indian. Multi-cuisine vegetarian restaurant, extremely friendly with a vast range of dishes to choose from.
Dining in this restaurant is not too heavy on the wallet either.
Complete dining experience.
This relatively new eatery is attracting quite a few vegan foodies as much for its ambience as for its food. Staple favourites like the pakodas, the basil soup or schezwan baby corn were delicious. If you're looking for something extra special, try the vegetable which is flavoured with a blend of spices only known to the chef.
No Indian meal is complete without the breads and tomatina offers a fine selection of hot breads straight out of a tandoor. Flaky, crusty laccha parathas, soft rotis and different types of naans were on offer. The restaurant has an extensive menu and although we did not venture there, the waiters were quite knowledgeable and informative.
While the appetisers, main course and desserts all were enjoyed by the patrons, innovative drinks and the specials, were also an instant hit.
All this comes at a price, of course; dinner for two would cost about Rs 800.
Tomatina is a quintessential vegetarian restaurant more on the lines of a 'fine dine' one and is very conveniently located near where I live which makes it easy for me to visit. The interiors are very nice with good seating arrangement and also well lit. This could be a good place to spend a lazy afternoon. They have a lot space to accommodate a lot of people. Their menu is extensive with mocktails, soups, noodles, steak, pasta, rotis, salads, and a lot more.
The restaurant needs to work on the speed of service and the quality of their drinks. But for most part, the place is perfect. Desserts were just okay and some of them weren't even available.
The entire meal back by Rs 800.
P.S. Their buffets are newly introduced & from what I've hear it seems to be very good.
exceeds expectations :-p
A casual affair, this is a family-friendly restaurant, offering something a little different. We visited Tomatina at HSR for a family lunch. The food and the service was excellent. The food was extremely tasty and generous in serving size. Absolutely recomend it for both the food and service!
The only problem with tomatina is that its not on my street. This is pure, unfussy jain food at its best. And it comes in relaxed but brightly buzzy surrounds with pleasant service and at prices so good, you could make it a once a weeker. Craving some paranthas and refuge from the usual food around, we decided to head here to try out their weekday buffets. Absolute value for money.
Elegant n simple...
Great place for brunch, the place is absolutely adorable. I recommend having lunch outside on the patio. Everything about this place from the decor to the food is very well thought out and eye appealing. Don't be fooled by the location. I remember when my friend took me here, I was a little hesitant but once I walked inside I changed my mind right away. The one good thing about this place was the portions. The portions are sufficient i.e just right and the selection is pretty extensive.
I'm so pleased that we made it here, having perused a few blogger reviews beforehand, I had a firm idea of what I wanted to try.
The dining room decor is elegant but simple so you have no distractions. 'Tis worth a visit if you like your dinner to be tasty and imaginative with a difference. Make sure youre dining with someone with whom you have lots to talk about.
The steak, palak kofta curry, mushroom rice, carrots soup, fritto misto are the clear winners. Service deserves special mention, each member of the team is knowledgeable and helpful.
I always worry that I wont be full after having vegetarian food. But not here. The servings are substantial and flavourful. And at the end of it, you can feel quite virtuous that youve had a healthy yet delicious meal.
Service there is impeccable, with service staff always present to refill your water but never too near to the point of hovering. They are polite, ready to make recommendations and always have a sincere smile on their faces.
Priced at 225 and now armed with the knowledge of what's good, I won't hesitate in recommending Tomatina's buffet to anyone looking for a classy yet reasonably priced good meal.
Honestly speaking, when I entered the cafe my first reaction was that of disappointment. The ambiance was nothing to talk about. The menu was very confusing. Not the best, but definitely not the worst food I've had. I've been here a few times and it's semi-inconsistent. Sometimes they'll serve me overly greasy noodles, other times the noodles are great. Recently, there has been a tremendous improvement from the staff regarding the consistency of the food & now, the food was focused on being good. Lucky for someone who lives around.
It is still by all means a comfortable, casual restaurant, but it's clean, has low lighting, and a noteable absence of neon lights. Also, all of the food is attractively presented and doesn't feel heavy.
The specials won't disappoint you...
Sometimes you just need a slow and relaxing lunch, and that's exactly the purpose served by Tomatina. There's nothing overly remarkable about their sandwiches as far as I'm concerned, but if I'm on the go and need some *really* good chinese, they do it up right. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night, which is often a bad sign. However, with the place being new, I hoped it was just that no one knew about it yet. We were instantly impressed by how clean and crisp the restaurant is. The lemon coriander soup was also generously portioned, delicious, and a meal in its own right for a light eater. There's also an excellent arrangement for the buffet on weekdays.
Overall, I think the service, food, and prices are all better than average and I would recommend it.
Healthy & Delicious.
Tomatina is definitely the place to go if you are looking to get away from the fast paced life of Bangalore. Everything about Tomatina is focused on creating the ultimate guest experience; from the friendly atmosphere to the welcoming doormen, you feel the genuine care from the moment that you arrive. It is a little pricey for what it was, but so is everything in here.
Some must haves are the:
1. Crispy Corn chilli pepper.
2. Night cloud.
3. Aloo tikki.
4. The jain menu fascinated me for I rarely see fine dining that cater to the healthier options.
Though I need to get my hands into a few more of their buffet offerings before I can say that their buffet is one of the best in town, all signs point to YES!
If you have never been, I hope this post convinces you to go.
Should you ever find yourself around HSR, dont hesitate to stop for lunch at Tomatina near first sector. Ive enjoyed every meal Ive ever had there. I've eaten here perhaps six or seven times and have been extremely remiss in not reviewing it before now.
Start with the special drink which isn't mentioned on the menu but presented on request called Night Cloud. They offer one of the best thread paneer Ive ever had; the special sizzler and the fried ice cream are also very good. Their menu is very large, but inspite of that, they do well, and Im looking forward to sampling the remainder of their menu on future visits. I felt totally comfortable. And the comfy chairs, while not ideal for leaning over the table and eating, certainly encourage you to lean back, relax, enjoy some good food, and take your time. Theyre very conducive to a leisurely evening of good conversation.
Not worth it
I visited this place for dinner to treat my wife on her birthday. Though the setup was good, the food in itself was very bad and over priced! I wouldn't mind paying for good food, but this food was TOTALLY off-the-mark. I ended up paying a huge bill and ended up hardly satisfied and full!
I finished off the night by visiting Lou Han an nearby Chinese Thai eatery which finally put a smile on my face...
Service was slow to come and the waiters weren't well versed with the menu, nor could they offer any recommendation!
Tomatina was not geared up for the SAT crowd...in-spite of their week long advertisement on FM radio!!!
If you don't mind spending BIG bucks for nothing, please visit.
Lots to Improve
With much expectations, we landed at this fine dine Veggie place.
While the decor is nice at a first glance, the central elevated seating is pretty cramped. Its easy for one to miss the elevation and have a pretty bad fall ! Time to recheck the seating.
Waiters dont seem to be well versed with the menu. Training missing !
The menu is a little too confusing. Requires a good amount of reorganisation, else its sure the drive the customer crazy !
Coming to the food, the lemon coriander soup was the highlight of the orders we placed.
Starters not worth the mention ( or we had been wrongly driven to it by the waiter).
Main course - lassoni palak a worthy try and so were the rotis. Chilli rotis had a miniscule of chillies in them and absolutely non-spicy ! Not acceptable !
Pastas were ok.
No inclination to try any other items in the menu !
Hoping this place does some revamp before we decide to re-visit
Veggie Delight for HSRians!
I had been to this place with family this week. Must agree that 'Only veggie' was our first reason for trying out this new place. We entered the place on a weekday at 9.30. Décor seemed good. We opted to sit in open air. Menu had all kinds of options in cuisine which my husband wasnt impressed as he feels Multicuisine restaurants dont give the right authentic effect to any cuisine. We went ahead with the ordering, firstly the soups and the starters. The staff was extremely polite and the captain knew how every dish was even prepared! This helped us a lot in making the right choice in the menu. The lemon coriander clear soup was extremely tasty. Tandoori starter was lip-smacking as well. Italian starter was so-so. I dont really remember the exact names of the items we ordered. We also order some kinda rice having tomatoes and was served with spinach tempering. I havent tasted anything this new and so good at the same time. Vegetable steak was good as well. Then came time for dessert. We were terrible full (menu dint have too many dessert options) and still we dint wanna leave before trying out atleast one dessert. Fried icecream is worth a try. Other options are all regular. We left the place with all smiles intact! Oops I forgot.. It was 10.30pm when we left. That indicates the superfast service catered. Not too pricey unlike other restaurants in HSR. Courteous staff, new taste and speedy service will definitely get us back here!
