Always a Safe Bet!
Just a general "I like this place" kinda review. The last time I ate here was actually the Christmas Day brunch. It's a pleasant place, and I'm not surprised it's tagged as a romantic eatery. I remember the Turkey buffet being pretty great. Roast leg of lamb, roast turkey , roast beef, baked fish, freshly made pasta, fresh pizza, chicken casserole, herbed rice, assorted salads, bruschetta, breads, soups, and some nicely made mini desserts. Lots and lots of Sangria - white and red, Rose wine, chocolate Santa's. Plus, live music by a guy who can actually sing ! Great service by the staff, and a cheerful manager. Plus I remember the buffet was priced pretty reasonably too. Via Milano isn't for the puritans but it is a nice place to visit for authentic-ish Italian food.

Although v entered d place jus a few mins b4 3pm, they welcomed us well n made us feel wanted. as it waz late, v ordered shrimp spagetti n smoked chkn quatrostagoni n both d items were SUPERB. worth visitin agen n agen! they were kind enuf 2 ask 4 dessert n also waited while v enjoyed d meal n dint rush 2 wrap up n close d place as it waz arnd 4pm. courteous staff. valet guy waz also decent; waznt rough on d car unlike othr places. MUST VISIT! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
"perfect place for a date"
Via Milano has been around for a few years now, at Sony World in Koramangala. I went there 2-3 years ago once, loved the place but somehow never went back there until recently. I must appreciate them for sustaining the good quality. Went there on a weekday evening, their valet parking guy was off apparently, the basement of the building had parking spots so wasn't a problem. Only the rooftop section of the restaurant was open, and that's where we wanted to sit anyway!!! ordered assorted Bruschetta, Baked chicken something, Shrimp pizza, salmon pasta and some other veg pasta. Everything tasted good!!! Must Visit :)
Expensive place, average food. Steaks are the only saving grace here while pastas are best avoided. Service leaves a lot to be desired with the staff totally un-educated about what they need to do or what they are serving. Al that they were interested in doing is inquiring if we wanted to repeat our drinks. Not a place I would go back to given the options in Koramangala.

Hard to understand why
Went to this place for dinner last evening and boy, I wasn't expecting it to be like this. I have been to Via Milano quite a few times and it has had good food and service. But last night was a complete let down!
1. For starters it was a family dinner and we had made a reservation for a table on the 3rd floor (Indoor Dining) to avoid the noise. Surprised to get a table on the roof top even after that request - Fair enough they didnt have the 3rd floor open that evening.
2. Went to order a bottle of wine and they didnt have any of the selections we wanted from the menu (after going through 4-5 choices). In the end had to end up going to the cellar myself and picking out a bottle "off the menu" - definitely a first for me at an Italian restaurant. The beer came to the table warm. Had to send back a bottle and ask the waited to put it in the ice box for 15 mins before serving us.
3. Ordered the food - Starters were good. The pizza was not upto the mark. Main course came cold and I promise you my Nepali cook at home makes better Italian food. The pasta was boring and bland. The rissoto looked and tasted like a cheesy version of khara bath u get a local darshini. The spaghetti was ok but nothing to really impress. I think the only saving grace was the dessert - Thank God! The tiramisu was good.
4. Service - Well the manager seemed confused. The music was way too loud and after repeatedly asking him to turn it down a little, he didnt seem to bother. Wish I would have just got a table inside instead of the roof top. But after last evening, I wish I had gone to another restaurant.
5. Highlight of the evening - A very noisy table of 10 next to us. Asked to manager to request them to keep it down a little - turns out they were friends of the owner...hmmmmm.
Definitely my last visit to this place. Would only recommend it to people who like warm beer and cold food.
Whats with the overpriced "Off the Menu" Wines?
Yesterday was the second time I went to Via Milano in the last two months.( 4th time in a year ) And all the times, they did not have any of the wines by the bottle , mentioned on the menu. Why have a menu then? And they have "Off the Menu" wines, which are almost double the price of any wine in the menu. That is a big turn off. The first time they offered the "off the menu" wine and the check was a shocker. Any of the wines on the menu costs 2350 a bottle, while the off the menu ones are upwards of 4000...
They could actually have a seasonal wine menu.. if they want to make it more interesting. AND remove the wines off the menu that they never seem to have.
Food varies on different days and quality is not consistent. The food tasted better the first time than yesterday, with the presentation made interesting a few times...
Cocktails are less than average .. Wines are a better option..
And yeah the complimentary bread basket was less than palatable. The bread was not fresh...
A date place ?? YES, if you get a larger table in the non smoking area. NO, you if you get a table for two. They are a tad longer which makes you feel you are seated far from your date and have to literally shout on top of your voice ..( And yes, restaurants in India are typically very noisy!)
Via Milano would never be my first choice for an evening out. Would probably consider it as a second option ...
In one word- Pricey !
Via Milano may be a good choice for Italian food lovers but flipside being its pricey when compared to the portions served . The ambience is set for a romantic dinner but the response from the staff is more on the colder side. Such fine dine restaurants should take it up to interact warmly with the guests. Coming to the food,we ordered 2 starters and 1 main course besides the complimentary bread basket ,but unfortunately tummies wanted more !!! We had to come back home with partially satiated hunger pangs :( Overall an okk experience,not sure if i want to go back again.
Been here a few times. Never had an outstanding experience. They like filling your plate up with more than you can eat. Lots of veggies that make no sense comes with Pork Chops. Got served slightly old Blue cheese. Yes the cheese does stink naturally but this had some moldy white crystallized balls on them. Like when you keep blue cheese in your fridge too long. Cheese platter looked empty to begin with. The service staff needs to speak English clearly. Drinks were fine. Overall sad experience.
Ok food. Pathetic service
Took my parents there for Sunday afternoon. Only rooftop seating, earlier they had it on 3rd floor also. 1st thing that hit us was the blaring music, and that they didnt offer water well until 15 min later after we had arrived. Asked the waiter to lower the vol and get us hot water. Took 15 min to get it, and the water was DIRTY!! He explained tht this happened coz he heated the water. How dumb did he thinkn we were. Lets come to the food now- starters were very good, but the only good part of the meal. We ordered bell pepers with goat cheese and zucchini. Main course was spinach filled-ravioli and veg pizza with capsicum and olives. Extremely bland, and such small portions!! I know for a fact italians eat a LOT. So why do Italian restaurants serve such small portions? There are far better places to eat Italian. These guys seriously need to get their act together
Great place for enjoying a quiet dinner
I have visited Via Milano thrice till date, and have never been disappointed with the quality of food or service. All the dishes that I have ordered till now, be it chicken or fish, have been succulent, served well and are of generous proportions too. The ambience is great too; its a roof-top restaurant with open-air seating. Definitely a place you would like to visit over and over again, if you love Italian food.
A long pending review. Both my husband and I are Italian cuisine enthusiasts and Via Milano is the perfect place for curbing the regular pangs of hunger!
Most recently, we had a Grilled Shrimp with Zuchinni for starters - very light and tasty even though it lacked the freshness I expected. Then we opted for a Chicken Scallione with Basil, Buffalo Mozzarella and Basil and Sun Dried Tomato - yumm! Along with a Red Snapper dish I dont remember the name of - delish!
We ended with the most perfect Tiramisu and Vanilla Pannacotta with fruit minestrone - Oh my god. HEAVEN.
Overall - very tasty, very beautiful presentation and the desserts were very very authentic. Loved it. A little on the expensive side but worth it - the lunch cost us around 1800 INR with taxes.
A definitely must try - one of the best restaurants in the city.
Located on the roof top of a 3 storey building, this restaurant has a great view with lulled out noises from the busy streets. The food served, sounds and looks exotic; like it's just out of a materchef kitchen with it's presentation et al.
Good variety of wine and a big range of desserts served.
It's a nice place for a long evening overlooking the bangalore sky-line and feeling the evening breeze.
The price ranges around Rs 500-600 per person and it's worth a visit.
Good Italian Food
Pretty neat place for ones with liberal palate.. if you are willing to venture to Italian Cusine.. One of the best places to be...
Food both interms of taste and presentation scores high... For first timers would surely recommed to take suggestions from the staff as they guide you really well anbd are quite sensitive to your taste...
Brocolli Soup, Chicken Salad, Lamb Rack and even the desert.. all were of top quality...

We had a awful experience since half of the drinks were unavailable and the food was horrible expect for one dish. Cocktails taste awful. When we received the bill , they gave us the incorrect one and took 40 minutes to correct it which completely ruined our Sunday evening. We would never go back .
I went with high expectations to venture italian food in Bangalore but I was hugely disappointed. I had ordered Calamari dish as a starter and it was no better than the one served in a local restaurant. I had ordered a total of four drinks which were plain ordinary although a drink named (something)sunset was the best in my whole dining experience at Via Milano. The complimentary bread served was cold but would have been better if they were warm. The risotto was insipid and the shrimp was overcooked. the pizza was something I could order from Pizza hut. I ordered the dessert (creme brulee) with huge anticipation and was shocked to see a frozen dessert on my table. I felt I was eating two slices of Ice cream topped with with some biscuits.
The whole Italian experience turned out to be an ordeal instead although I must say that their staffs are gracious and courteous and ambiance was delightful.
This is one of the places I would drive to after a tiring day at work to get a my favorite pasta. They are accomodating to customise your meal just for your pallete. The great ambience is a pleasure to relish the food in. The bread basket with an assortment of dips and seasonings is to die for.. The service has gone down after their move - maybe its added tables and fet waiters. But it remains my favorite since 2009.
I had been to Via Milano in 2008 (just when it had opened) and I had a terrible experience there. I vowed never to return and I left India to the U.S. I returned in 2010 to find myself again working a few meters away from VM. I still had a bad impression of them and stuck to Fiorano until an American friend of mine dragged me here. I discovered that the restaurant had been moved one building away and I found the food and the service surprisingly very very nice. So, I recommended VM to my colleagues. We went there for lunch today and I can't tell you how furious I am right now.
The waiter who served us didn't even know how to pour Pepsi into a glass. He poured it from on-top and the whole thing spilled all over. Half of my Pepsi spilled on the table and into my lunch plate. I was really furious but didn't say much to the waiter. I showed him the right way of pouring soda into a glass (with the bottle and glass slanted).
I asked another waiter to serve us some risotto that was on our table. This monsieur spilled risotto and bell peppers on my chair and some of it stuck to my trousers.
When we asked for our cheque, I was very sure he wouldn't charge me for the Pepsi because he had spilled half of it but it was promptly charged to us (a whopping 90 rupees, that too for a glass bottle of ordinary Pepsi).
I must say I have been truly let down by VM and their service and I was very embarrassed in front of my colleagues. The pasta, pizza and risotto we ate were all fine but what's Italian food without presentation?
VFM stylish lunch
The 3 course lunch at Via Milano, the highly rated Italian restaurant on 80 ft peripheral road,4th block Koramangala, priced at Rs.600 (all inclusive) is one of the excellent value-for-money fine-dining offers available in the city. My overall experience (on a weekday March 2011)occupied the "nearly satisfying","wish it could be still better" rating space between "good" and excellent".I came away with the definite idea that a wider sampling of the restaurant's dishes would create a more commendable impression of the flavour profiles here.
Ambience- Trendy,Chic and minimalistic with its 3rd floor location separated from the outside by glass walls. Furniture is sleek, comfortable, upholstered with leather in white and red and the dark tables are covered by white table cloth laid out in such a way as to not cover the side-edges.The glass wall-side seating arrangement (with clear views of the outside) on one side is made up of sofas n low tables to create a lounge feel.Floor has dark slightly rugged square tiles coveying a "pavement" type feel. In the day,enough sunlight percolates through,-i suspect the nightly ambience to be sexier here.
Service-Good,but not excellent.The staff are good-natured,but dont have the adept watchfulness expected of top tier joints. Not very articulate either,but helpful certainly.Then again,glasses are not promptly re-filled. Communication skills again not upto the mark.Very few other tables were occupied,yet the kitchen was a bit slow in sending out the dishes.Mr.Carl,the/one of the restaurants owners was working the place and his attention picked up after he came to know that I intended to document my experience.It was a good experience talking to him. He clarified regarding the contents of the 3 test tube samples on the table (!),enquired how the food was,asked if I needed some espresso at the end, and said that his place was rated the top stand-alone Italian restaurant in the city, and one of the top 3 Italian joints in the entire country.
Food- I was doing a good job of polishing off the complimentary bread with accoutrements(some nice mayonnaise,tasty basil infused olive oil,& brunoised tomato n basil) for making bruschetta-type snacks,when my first course arrived- i had chosen(all 3 courses have limited options to select from) a salad of smoked chicken, assorted lettuce,cherry tomatoes n crispy mushrooms with a mildly sweet brown dressing.The mushrooms were batter fried to add textural contrast.Good ingredient quality but I didnt find the winning combination of flavours i was expecting.I wanted to try linguini with chicken bolognaise initially,but selected the above since i thought it best approximated the smoked duck salad which came highly recommended(this was not there in the prix fixe option).The 3 test tubes in a metal holder contained an interesting spice-infused extra virgin olive oil(evoo!),pure evoo (slight medicinal taste!) and balsalmic vinegar (strongly pungent & sour- making me wonder how the highly expensive 100yr old balsalmic tastes like) Main course included red snapper,veg gratin parmigiano n grilled beef among others from which i picked a superbly presented dish which was of international standard - grilled fillet of grouper with sun dried tomato pesto,sauteed potatoes,garden greens with olive n capers. This mild-flavoured variety of fish was succulent n tasty, n the soft slices of sauteed potatoes were cooked excellently. The sundried tomato pesto reminded me of those mildly spiced Andhra spice mixes (!) to go with rice - it didnt particularly enhance the flavour of the fish here or provide an interesting contrast. The greens were unremarkable.For dessert,from options like coconut panacotta,apple mille-feuille, n choco dessert with vanilla sauce n candied orange peel, i wanted the listed option of the intriguing mango semi-freddo with spice-scented honey sauce.The tiramisu isnt there in the prix fixe menu.They said my selection was not there but they had another variety of semifreddo- i went for it as this dessert is highly rated here by others. I would not have settled for it had i seen,earlier, its English name- caramelized almond nougat with pistachio tuille n chocolate&raspberry sauce. The dessert was above average but definitely not of the bells n whistles kind in its taste.Overall,the main course helped to pull the whole meal through for me .Throughout the meal, i didnt experience the anticipated revelation in flavours,but all the dishes had a certain baseline quality that offset any significant disappointment.Surprisingly my final bill inclusive of drinks was presented at menu cost ,with no VAT or service tax charged.This Rs.600 prix fixe would have cost Rs.820 if i had ordered the same dishes a la carte.Their main selection starters cost between Rs.200 to Rs.550 and mains between Rs.300 to Rs.700 (tiger prawns) n Rs.800 (smoked duck French style).Desserts all cost Rs.195. Alcohol- they have champagne based cocktails n mojitos among other drinks (Rs.200 plus to Rs.400 plus) with 10 yr old glenmorangie n Talisker (Rs.425 per dose) and some red & white wines by the glass n by the bottle (the latter upto Rs.2050)
In sum, a recommended place for quality food.
Excellent New Location!!
Being to the old Via Milano many a times and truly enjoyed the food and the ambience, the new place is even better, they have an indoor area and a terrace now!! we decided to sit on the terrace and it was just fantastic and the food as usual was excellent and I must say that they still have the best Italian in town.
I must say that I never thought I would write about Via Milano after both me and wife were bowled over at this place at least a year ago. I took my wife's folks to this place thinking that I would treat them to some real grand food but in dismay. After we were seated, I ordered a couple of drinks for me and my father in law. The waiter was courteous and took our orders. We then ordered Beef Tenderloin, Tortellini Stuffed Chicken, Pasta in Cream Sauce and Apple Pie. The Beef tenderloin was good with the creamy Potato as a side was good to have. As for the pasta in cream sauce, I was not sure what it was. There was very little sauce and to top it, the flavor was very different that what I had imagined. It tasted like old food which was cooked one day before. Tortellini stuffed Chicken felt old and the tortellini was hard with no taste of either the stuffed mushroom or the chicken making any difference to the dish. Now comes the Apple Pie - This tops it all. Both me, my wife and her dad could not cut the pie. It was that HARD!! Imagine, having a desert where the knife refuses to cut the base in one shot. Absolutely disappointing. Before I left, I told the waiter that I was very disappointed and in return I got a reply that the main chef had left Via Milano and the assistant Chef was out on vacation. As a customer, this is the last thing I would like to hear when I visit a restaurant. When the Manager was called, he told us that nothing had changed and the management was still the same. Well, the food did not show it one bit. Overall. Bad experience, disappointing and embarrassed in bringing my wife's parents here. Sorry. Just true facts :-(
Sour dinner turned sweet
I used to love going to this place for they served some smashing pizzas. Went here tonight with a couple of friends as it has shifted to a new location.
The food was really bad and the service was horrible. They mixed up the orders completely and the waiters were either dumb or very arrogant because thy just wouldnt get a simple Tobasco sauce bottle even after telling 4 times.
All this heated up and the manager was called for, but the owner of the place, a very gentle person named Carl came to us and apologised for the night. He took care of the bill too and also offered us drinks. His courtesy is the only thing that will make me in the future to give this place another chance because i truly loved the food they do.
went there to placate my girlfriend. worked wonders. beautiful ambiance, knowledgeable waiters, good wine and cocktails and amazing food. be ready to shell out some money. but it was totally worth it. the shrimps were out of this world. the best shrimps i have tasted in bangalore. so fresh....i can still taste them ;) the size of portions are miserly though.
Nice Drinks and Dessert
Went to this place twice already this year. The service is good. The cocktails are very well done and the desserts are awesome. It is a bit of a risk though as you never know what your dish would turn out to be or the size of the portions from the menu. However, it is worth a shot. The terrace seats are nice and the bar looked good too. I'd sat a bit pricey. A nice meal with drinks come to about 1000 per head.
Nothing to write home about
The food is standard Italian fare. I ordered a sphagetti chicken bolognaise with sundried tomatoes. The portion size was decent and the sphagetti was standard fare. However, very miserly helpings of sundried tomatoes.
The dessert I had was a banana, almond tart with dark chocolate. Again the tart was standard, but with skimpy helpings of dark chocolate. The cutting down of key ingredients was annoying. Oh yes, pricey place for the kind of food that is dished out. Main courses are about 350-400 bucks. I liked the ambiance though. It's situated on a terrace with a roof-garden type of setup. Go only if you must.
Bad Food experience
We went from Hebbal for my Bday to this place and the food was not upto our expectation. Bruschette was cold with tasteless toppings, shrimp was stinking bad. For main course we ordered Grouper fillet which was alright but grilled chicken was not even cooked properly, I just left the whole dish, waste of money. After all this we didn't order desserts. I dont know It was not this bad when I went there first time.
Eating off its renown
The first time I was here, the experience was a pleasurable and the food did not disappoint. I've recommended the place to many others and it's an activity I will refrain from, after my last visit.
It's suffers the fate of local restaurants that have drowned in encomiums and the food has become tired and tasteless. The prawns were overcooked, the cephalopod was caught last year and the cheese was left to cook for too long. It was simply not what I was expecting.
The presentation is still quite nice but one can't depend on that for sensory and gustatory satisfaction
Food Bad. Live music, good.
We ordered the two vegetarian soups, out of which the broccoli was hardly palatable ( I only had a couple of spoons and left the remaining). The other vegetarian soup was eatable.
Our main course was vegetarian gratin. We did not like it.
But, the guitarist playing the live music there, played two of my all time favorite songs .. and because of that .. and that reason alone .. it was totally worth it.
The service was not as slow as I had expected after reading all the reviews here, and the maitre d' was very cordial and friendly. The same goes for the staff.
Decent Italian Restauarant
Had been to this restaurant on the last day of operation at their old location. Considering last day, I thought we may not get a good service, but I was wrong. The service was good, and they were helpful in choosing the dishes. The price is fine for an Italian restaurant. The food is decent and definitely worth going again. Waiting to try out their new location.
Many people complain of food not being good, quantity is less and price is high, must understand, that its not easy to choose Italian dishes unless you know about them, all European restaurants serve small quantity, and Exotic food is usually expensive. So, go there only if you like Italian food.
I visited Via Milano with my mum, uncle, aunt and cousins. My aunt being a regular visitor knew exactly what to order for the table.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ham salad as well as my lamb main course with wine. The service was excellent and didn't give us a reason to complain !
Second visit - surely !
Good food, slow service
Went there for dinner with family and friends on the 15th. Enjoyed the very tasty food - the pasta was cooked to perfection and tasted yummy. The beer was chilled to perfection too :-)
The waitstaff are somewhat slow and "just doing their day job" - this place can really go far with some attentive managerial staff who do table rounds and chat up with the guests informally ...
This is where my Italian-American boyfriend took me out on our first date almost 3 years ago. The food is great quality and always the perfect portions.
Really good drinks...they have a great bartender and some delicious cocktails that will make you order more!
They have some delicious salads. Lettuce, Parma ham & Melon salad is worth the price.
The service is always quality here. The staff and managers alike are very friendly and professional.
At the end of a tough day, you know that this place will pamper your palette for sure.
i really liked this place initially. now i feel they are slacking off when it comes to service and quality. my salad was missing half the ingredients it was supposed to come with and when i asked about it, they said they had run out. they could have told me before i ordered it, or even after i had. but i still love the pizzas. esp the four cheese one.

had gone to the place with my gf, and i chose to propose to her there, the only thing good about the place was the ambiance, and i am thankful for that else everything would have been a disaster . the food is extremely bad, the service s pathetic, and the quantity of food is enough to feed a sparrow, trust me extremely pissed off by this place,..... would never go into this again as it doesn deserve the money it commands... pl dont go here as you will be coming out with a huge hole in ur wallet and a very unsatisfied empty stomac
Lovely in Every Way
This is my fourth or fifth visit to this restaurant and is a long overdue visit (I haven't been here in nearly a year and a half). Arriving at the discreetly lit restaurant, we parked the car in the convenient underground parking lot, ably assisted by the guard in charge of the parking lot and then took the lift to the third floor which is where Via Milano is housed. Stepping out of the lift, we were greeted warmly by the hostess who ushered us to two empty seats in the middle of the restaurant. After comfortably seating us, setting our candle alight and, supplying us with the food and drinks menus, she unobtrusively withdrew. We slowly looked through the fairly extensive drinks menu (it would be great if there was a wider selection of liquor and wine on offer though), and settled on an alcoholic drink each. We also peered at the food menu (this met my exacting standards of menu extensiveness) and chose a prawn cocktail for our starter. After taking our order, and leaving us to figure out what we would like for our main course, the waiter withdrew, and returned a few minutes later with the bread basket and an assortment of oils and dips. We enjoyed the assorted breads and I really liked the dips and the chilly oil. The bread basket was followed quite quickly by our drinks and starter. My drink, a "White Leopard", was wonderful and my friend enjoyed his as well. The prawn cocktail was amazing. The main non-vegetarian courses when they arrived, were also lovely and we lost no time in eating up our respective shares. Then came dessert, a ricotta cheesecake with blackcurrant topping, which we both shared and which was absolutely divine. Finally came the bill, quite a reasonable one. My overall impression of the place is that it has fantastic ambience, fantastic music, fantastic service, great food and drink and a very charming manager or owner who took the trouble to speak to us on the way out and ask us how the food and service was. Also to say that he looked forward to seeing us again soon. It is pleasant to feel welcome as well as comfortable and this is definitely a place I will return to and would recommend as a wonderful place for a relaxed and delicious, stressfree meal.

What exactly do the owners of this restaurant think they are upto?
Is a fancy ambience on which God knows whose money was spent enough to justify exorbitant prices, total disservice ( also known as service at Via Milano) and food that can feed only infants ( although you are actually treated as insects)?

I hated the food here. Just hated it. I regret that I went by thir recent award by the Times. In fact I am surprised. Besides, the pasta everything else was bad, less than bad and terrible in my book, especially the miniscuel quantity.
The service was non-existant. Not only do these nuts serve next to no quantity and make you lose your clothes to pay, they make starve of hunger waiting for the food. People were not responsive .. too 15 min to get a glass of water
Overall I would just say - Go to hell

actually we went for my moms and dads anniversairy and the service was quick foood was amazing needed a little more portion for one or two dishes and the quality was very good and its not expensive really for 4 people we might have paid about 2000 rs soo its a nice place

The ambiance is nice...but the food really really expensive with tiny portions! I dont understand the big deal with eating something that doesnt last even two bites and where the additions like lettuce to garnish are more than the dish !

Best Valentine's Day Restaurant
When I made the reservations, the staff were very helpful, and cautioned me that there could be a wait of 10-15 minutes. We got there 20 minutes after our scheduled time, but the staff had reserved... and held (!) our table for us! This despite the fact that there were 40+ people waiting to get in without reservations.
We decided to spend a little time at the bar, where we got an awesome drinks menu, with a wide variety of cocktails. We were given a complementary flute of champagne each. The owner, Mr. Carl Ferns, wanted to make us feel special, and he invited my spouse for a short stint behind the bar! She was thrilled to bits with all attention, she got to make a martini for me, for the first time in her life.
The ambiance was fun-filled and sometimes raucous. There was a band of Australians who were pretty badly drunk, and were creating a ruckus that disturbed other valentine couples, including us. The owner, upon our request, politely asked them to pipe down, and the evening went off very well.
Most of the food was very good - the beef, the salads, the desserts and the cannelloni were very good. The fish was not, and we had to send it back because it tasted bitter.
The place had a live singer for the evening, and he played requests from many people, including ours. He played so well, that my spouse and I were enchanted enough to get up and slow dance ;-)
All-in-all, a nearly perfect evening. Definitely worth visiting again.
Wonderful food - Great service
Dining out is as much about the food and ambiance, as it is about the service and general amiability of the staff. After all - what's the point of fine dining, if one doesn't leave the place with a smile on their face - not all of which has to do with the food alone. I haven't experienced any place in Bangalore that does as a good job at the latter as the staff at Via Milano - right from the owners downwards. The food itself is terrific, the portions reasonable, and the liquor collection - satisfying. Don't miss their chicken filled tortellinis..
Not impressed at all
Ambience - nice, it is on the top floor and has a nice view ( 7/10)
Food - didn't like it at all. Pasta was good and besides that everything else was bad. ( 5/ 10 )
Service - Poor. Extremely poor. I starved of hunger waiting for the food. People were not responsive .. too 15 min to get a glass of water ( 2 / 10 ).
Price - Way too expensive.

Very good experience, worth the wait
My wife and I got there without a reservation, hoping that it wouldn't be too crowded on a week night, and that we'd be seated quickly. Boy, were we mistaken!
SERVICE: Very friendly
The restaurant was packed - not a single empty table. Seeing our crestfallen faces, the management sat us at the bar, and chatted with us, until a table was ready. We didn't know where time flew!
Strangely, most of the patrons at the restaurant were non-Indians. Japanese, Europeans, a few Americans, several Britishers. Including our party, there were just 3 tables with Indians.
We tried their Caesar salad, prawns, beef wrapped in bacon, margarita pizza, mint/chocolate dessert,and all were very very good. The management were happy to explain the various dishes, though the captains and waitresses weren't quite knowledgeable. Maybe they need better training?
DRINKS: Very good choice, well made
While at the bar, and later at our table, we were served by Kiran (ask for him!), who made us some very good drinks, and was quite friendly. His knowledge of English was severely limited, but he made it up in enthusiasm.
It was *very* noisy, probably because of several tables of drunk Japanese. The decor is quite good, but the AC seemed broken/ not working, so the place was very warm. Don't go there wearing warm clothing!
Easily the Best Italian restaurant in Bangalore
My husband and I had been to several Italian restaurants in Bangalore - Little Italy, Fiorano Ristorante, Toscano, etc, but none measured up to the quality of F&B at Via Milano.
The service was very good, and Carl Ferns and Roger Hessing, the owners were very friendly and helpful. The chef, Paolo, was... indecipherable with his Italian accent :-) The waiters and captains were average - sometimes sometimes uncaring. But we didn't allow that to ruin the experience for us.
The food was excellent - better than that, if possible. The drinks were mixed by Carl himself, and we enjoyed watching him shake the martinis and taste the drinks to make sure that everything was perfect.
The differences between VM and say, other Italian restaurants were the following:
* The owners were mingling and always around, and attentive to our needs,
* The chef wasn't high-handed or aloof, and liked to talk to us,
* The ambiance was warm, cozy and friendly, and
* The food and beverages were fantastic.
All-in-all, an enchanting experience, and one that we'd like to re-experience often.
Wow! Amazing food and drinks
I visited VM a few months ago and was impressed by their selection of food and alcohol - the grilled chicken, the cosmos.. all were very good, but I hadn't bothered to write a review.
I went back there again with my spouse, and they'd changed the menus - both food and drink - and the quality was truly awesome!!
The red snapper fish with the potato crust was awesome! The Spaghetti Bolognese, though simple, was absolutely delicious. The bacon salad was amazing, especially with the topped poached egg. Their drinks menu has changed for the [much] better. They have a wider variety of choices, more exotic cocktails and some fabulous Belgian beers.
The service was a tad off - the waiters weren't attentive enough, but the owners were very attentive.
Overall, I'd say this place deserves to be the best in Bangalore.
have lost the zing!!
Via Milano has definitely lost the zing..have been visiting VM if not regularly then quite often...i love the ambience though the menu is limited..Last 2 visits have been bad..probably they have changed the chef...nothing tasted good be it the salads or main course or anything else for that matter..my friend ordered "grilled selection of meat"..though the plate came only with chicken..nothing else...the fish i ordered was stinky...pasta was average..not worth it specially at that price!! my gelato was watery...probably time has come to serach for a new Italian restaurant which has delicious food with good ambience..VM has definitely lost it!!
Went on a sunday....we were suggested the sunday lunch menu priced @ rs.550/person without drinks and rs.950 with drinks...we chose the former..
Starters were just ok ..1st was some veg.olive 'caviar'..:it tasted kinda weird..didnt really enjoy it
next starter was some veggies stuffed in some spring roll kind of a thing...this was not so bad...
the next were a layer of tomatoes and cheese slices stacked on top of each other ..again...average...and very bland
Next came the main course :
Penne pasta with herbs : was pretty good..a bit too cheesy though....
Beetroot pasta with cheese. : Didn't like it at all !!..It tasted as though it was filled with ghee...It looked disgusting as well with bright-pink beetroot pieces...and tasted kinda sweet..:(

Finally , desserts : The only good thing abt this place.
Strawberry sorbet was really good.
I suggest they add a description of each item in the menu card because we really can't make out what type of item it is as all the names are weird . eg : we ordered 'Coffee panato ' expecting coffee flavoured Ice cream ,..but what we got was a brown coloured jelly-like substance served with some milkt liquid n some nuts...
Hmm..Overall verdict : Not satisfied..I dunno if its just me or it is the way all authentic Italian dishes are , I found everything TOTALLY BLAND'....

Italian food in Bangalore? This is the place!!
Lovely food, good service, and great ambiance. This place has never disappointed me, be it a special occasion, got some friends visiting from overseas or sudden surge to go have Italian food. Been to this place quite a few times and the quality is consistent which is a rarity once there is steady clientèle. Lip smacking entrees. amazing pastas and tasty desserts. Over all highly recommended.
We were three of us who went for a dinner at this place. The waiters were courteous in the beginning but they completely forgot about when a flurry of Westerners walked in. We had to wait for more than half an hour before a waiter took notice (despite sitting where we could be seen) and came to take our orders. Since it was our first time there, we went with whatever he suggested was the chefâ??s specialties.
When our food arrived, we were dismayed to see that the portion was abysmally low. Not only that the taste was horrid. We had a feeling that not only was it made right but as if we were eating last nightâ??s leftovers. When I discussed this with a friend later, she told me that even she had heard that they pass off what doesnâ??t sell as chefâ??s specialties.
So we emptied our wallets for an empty stomach with crappy food and crappier service.
Vegetarians - avoid at all costs
Its an expensive place and portions are really small and there is no value for money. There are limited options for vegetarians. So if you are one then avoid this place at all costs. We had asked for a salad and they got us 5 pieces of lettuce with a couple of cucumbers and tomatoes thrown in with no dressing whatsoever. I was disgusted with the experience and apologized to my family for the choice of restaurant
Excellent Fine Dining
I have been to Via Milano about 10 times over the past year; suffice to say that im very impressed. The owners are extremely friendly and accomodating, the chef is brilliant, the ambience is "loungy" yet sufficiently formal to take your clients for dinner and the cocktails are well made. The only improvment area is around the waiting staff, I guess that with the high standards maintained all around it seems discerning customers like my self expect more from the staff. The waiters arent well versed with the menu (not that its an easy task, I can hardly pronounce half the things on the menu), they are either overly attentive - read irritiating or completely ignore you - read frustrating. On some occasions they have done well, but I feel that it could be because of my rapport with the owners rather than the attentiveness of the waiters.
Overall, I love this place - the beef lasagna, the pizzas, tiramisu are my favorites. The Mojitos are the best - my favorites are the apple and the spicy mojito's. Via Milano is always the first choice for me and my family for a quiet soul food evening.
And thats what I don't understand about big ticket restaurants. I went in expecting 'oh so wow' and left feeling a tad robbed of what could have potentially been a superb experience.
This place is teeming with talent no doubt, but it seems to be misplaced sometimes. Its got a great location, a famous chef, well turned out wait staff but but but....
The service was often awkward and inattentive, well meaning as it may have been. I guess they just got bogged down by some fussy tables. The food though sounded promising in print, arrived as something that was playing to the popular flavour, a pity. I can't say that I had anything that was not good in particular, but nothing that left me inspired either.
The good news is that they are still relatively new, and have time to pull their act together. I shall try again next year, if they are still around
We went here to celebrate my husbands promotion.We made reservations before hand and were promptly shone to our seat.A cozy couch overlooking the bustling night life outside.The ambience and the service was delightfull,adding to the mood.The food was just perfect,we ordered a chicken salad for starters, a margarita and whisky for drinks.All of the items were brought just at the right time and we moved to the main course.Deciding to try some lasagna and fettucine pasta which was made just perfectly to our taste.Adding to it all was the way the dinner ended,while leaving the gentleman at the exit gave me a lovely long stemmed rose and in the car was a thank you card with a little bundle of chocolates.Definitely a chic restaurant with just the right amount of class and a place to go to to celebrate or just make your night feel special.The entire meal cam to about 2000.Definitely a must try again location!
Wow ...Good Food, Service Ambience
We had a great evening in Via Milano a couple of Days back. My beer was crisp and chilled to perfection. My wife's margarita was just like the ones you get in Texas.The grilled prawns was a bit of dampner. Carbonara was tasty and with the extra parmesean it tasted even better. The pizza was good, could have been better with a more thiner and crisper crust. Tiramisu was the pick of the evening, sinful but soul food :). The damage was 2k, little on the heavier side but no regrets
I recommend the place to some German frnds and they found the place good as well.
Delicious food but not so Italian
I truly enjoyed Via Milano but it also thoroughly frustrated me. I've been in Bangalore for a while now (from the US originally) and I see a recurring theme, even at the nicest of restaurants. There is no foresight on management's part when taking reservations. I'm going to vent here in this review, but it is relevant everywhere and really detracts from my dining experience.
When we arrived at Via Milano it was empty but we were told it was full. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes until they determined we could have dinner on a couch in the lounge area. Another 15 minutes passed before our orders were taken. Several other families arrived and were turned away because the restaurant was "full". Evidently all the reservations were for 8:30 and 9 pm. Why the restaurant does not stagger diners so that the tables could be turned over to new patrons at least twice over the evening, is just plain bad management. For one thing it's not profitable only having one set of diners per night, secondly, service is not as good when wait staff is handeling all of the orders at the same time plus the kitchen is overwhelmed and the food suffers. Had my husband and I been seated immediately, and served immediately we would have finished our meal in time for another couple with a reservation at 9 pm. Instead, Via Milano turns away new business and alienates new clients because of poor planning. They could make twice as much money every evening, like American restaurants it the owners took a restaurant management course.
Anyways, enough of my ranting, all resturants have this poor practice, but Via Milano's really stood out to me as an opportunity for improvement because otherwise I would give it an Excellent rating.
As I mentioned the service was not that great, probably because we were relegated to the corner couch but our food was very tasty- although not particularly Italian. I did order the beet root ravioli which was exceptional but my grilled fish had the tiniest smidgen of sun-dried tomato pesto I have ever seen. My husband was told the veal ossobuco was unavailable and got a plate of grilled meat. All in all, the food was good but more continental than Italian. The best part of our evening was the live music that was performed. It was acoustical guitar music of popular songs from the 60s. It reminded me of my favorite tunes as a child.
Good food, very good drinks, excellent ambiance
We visited Via Milano twice, and although the first time was a good experience, the second was even better.
The first time, they'd run out of most drinks, but this time, the owner was there, behind the bar, and he mixed us some amazing drinks, even giving us the opportunity to join him behind the bar to help him make drinks.
The food was very good both times. The appetizers were excellent, as was the main course. The veal and lamb were to die for.
The service was okay the first time, but very good the second time. Different set of waiters both times, so maybe they changed the staff?
Overall, a worthwhile experience, and definitely worth re and revisiting.

Love this place , best italian food I have tasted . Never been disappointed in all the times I have visited here. Went there again this weekend. They have introduced a set menu which includes drinks, starters , main course and a dessert which costs about 950 . Its value for money for people who like their drinks , else it is a bit expensive.
But no regrets the food was really good. My husband had the non-veg menu while I had the veg. There was three starters which included a salad , veg cheese balls and fried vegetables in pasta, pizza, and 2 main courses which included beetroot in pasta and veg risotto. The desert was Tiramasu for the veg the non veg version was similar included a prawn dish, chicken salad , beef steak and fish . Though the quantity usually is small, this time round it was filling. We did not have space for the dessert but could not resist it.
On the whole the only place I have been visiting for good Italian food.
bigger portions please...
This place is kindda close to my heart as my then boyfriend, now husband officially proposed to me here...with flowers, cake, candles...the works...my point is the wait staff is really helpful...they helped him set it up without a fuss! :-) Foodwise - the choice is limited and they serve only select wines but these guys sure know how to cook yum italian food...the only grudge is their humble portion sizes...my risotto finished before I could smell it...and I had to order a classic tiramisu (typically, not a dessert person) to fill my tummy...needless to say..that was delicious too!
Very good food, good ambiance, good service
I landed up at Via Milano quite by accident - we wanted to visit Fiorano Ristorante, but drove past Milano and decided to try it instead.
It was worth it. The food was very good - the pizzas were deliciously thin with just the right toppings, the starters like bruchetta were excellent, and the main courses were just right.
The ambiance was good - a large glass window overlooks the street 3 floors up, and the service was good too. The waiters were attentive and well-informed. Their choice of alcohol was limited though. We didn't get the Sula on the day we went there, so it was back to the regular beer
I'd definitely go there again.
Via Milano - there is no other way!
The first time I visited this swanky Italian restaurant was as a journalist for Bangalore Mirror on a wine pairing dinner for Big Banyan Wines. The meal was absolutely sensational, every wine was set off by an astonishing course, and I truly enjoyed my evening, savouring every bite and sip of vino.
The Italian chef here cooks from the heart, one can taste the passion in his beetroot ravioli that is probably the most perfect pasta my palate has encountered. The delicate pasta pillow stuffed with minced beetroot and garnished with crisp sweet potato have an unusual meaty characteristic that I can't stop talking or thinking about.
This love affair has lived on in my heart and my mind for almost a year and a half, and upon return to Bangalore, I decided I must call the chef to arrange for him to make me this exquisite delight that is not featured on their daily menu unfortunately. Having called only four hours prior to our reservation with my request he set to work immediately and boy was I bowled over once again that evening!
The restaurant boasts an extensive wine list as well as a comprehensive list of cocktails. I especially like their daiquiris, of course I am partial to ultra-sweet-fruity drinks, and their flavoured mojitos are awesome as well. Try the basil mojito for something refreshing!
Perhaps my only grouse with Via Milano is their tendency to be stingy with their imported meats, be it the parma ham appetiser with melon that is delicious but ridiculously portioned. Another example is the pan-seared Canadian duck breast with creamy tagliatelle and asparagus spears. The duck breast was cut into fine strips and the dish barely contained six such pieces, or even fewer! Shocking!

Beautiful place but unpredictable food and service
I have loved this place since it opened. I do think they ahve the best pizzas in town. The decor fantastic.
I have had excellent service and food most of the time, but some times they have forgotten one of the dishes ordered completely. This is not once. All th same I think it is still worth going there for the chicken and bacon salad, the melon and parma ham platter, all the pizzas-you can ask for your own mix of toppings, some of the pasta and I am sad they removed the calamari from the menu.
Pathetic Service; Poor value for Money
First time I visited Via Milano sometime in Oct 2008; Food was not exceptional, however at least service was good, also ambiance was pleasant.
Then unfortunately we had to go to that place again this year (2009) and what a shock it was!!!
Quantity served was anyway less .. but now it has become almost halve of what was served earlier (may be effect of recession)! Then the quality .. it is strictly OK, not exceptional .. Now comes to the service .. unless u r a white-skinned foreigner, it is very hard to get any assistance or look-in from the 'extremely sophisticated' waiters/waitress of Via Milano!! And you can of course call 'his/her highness' for ur service and they will frown like anything!! (From their look, it will look like - 'How dare this Indian piece of sh** .....') ..:)
The garlic bread and sticks they serve as complimentary was dead cold and I believe that was the leftovers from the nearby tables populated with 'foreigners'.
So folks, the bottom line: Its more style than substance. If you r NOT a foreigner, may be u r taking a big risk by going to Via Milano.. anyway there are so many fine-dining restaurant available in Blore these days .. u'll have a lot of other choice within that price bracket.
Recommendation: NEVER VISIT; donate that amount for charity instead.
I arrived at Via Milano with no expectations and ............surprise! I found a very nice and clean place with good service (here waiters can interact...finally!!). I had to wait for my food, probably because the place was very busy but the wait was well worth it.
My mushroom ravioli pasta was very nice and my main course, the fish with artichoke was nice to!
At the end of our meal we had a selection of different desserts. The best part was when the bill arrived to total amount per person was not even 15 euro per person. Klasse! Hahahahah!!
Taste Italian Crap
I had heard mixed reviews about this place. But now experience has taught me that even if you have heard a few negative reviews, it's better to be forewarned!
The food is anything but Italian (it cannot even fall under Indian Italian where lasagne is served with coriander leaves and paneer). Even the "complimentary" bread basket is chef's idea of a joke. First you are served by good-looking waiters (gals and boys) with a wet towel and you end up leaving the place throwing in the towel (figuratively of course).
If you haven't tried Italian and you go to Via Milano, you'll swear off Italian food for the rest of your life. Via Milano is just a fancy little restaurant serving not-so-fancy food and expecting you to pay through your bleeding nose for what is best called CRAP.
Expensive but worth your money
i went here yesterday. Didn't like Italian Food earlier. So had my doubts, but the Food was really delicious. For drinks we ordered one Long Island Ice Tea For me and a lady Ruby For my Friend. Long island ice tea was better than what i have tasted, in many Bangalore, pubs and eating joints. Here the starters are a real treat, we ordered a Shrimp zucchini with mustard sauce. trust me it was delicious. The main course was "VEAL SALTABAMICO" if i remember the spelling correctly. its a non-veg dish. superbly garnished with sauce, and below the steak, was a layer of mashed potatoes. too good in taste. just a little bit of pepper, and it was awesome. Guys once in a while i think in my opinion, we can treat our taste buds with something this good.
Great Ambience and Food
The bread basket in the beginning meant we weren't starving while waiting for the food. While my fave drink, Cosmo wasn't in the menu, the bartender mixed a good one! Good service 'cos when we weren't happy with our lamb dish (was underdone), they replaced it wtih another dish. Loved my standard pasta-in-white-sauce-with-chicken. The sunny, airy feel of the place made for a fun lunch and the 700 per head we paid seemed quite reasonable (3 drinks, 1 starter, 3 mains).
Not A Veggies Delight
The place had a good atmosphere. There wasn't much selection for veggies. The waiters were too haughty ( though I dunno why considering they were close to deserted on a Sunday night) and the food wasn't good enough to want to go back even with the rose at the end and a thank you card in the car.
This place will quite easily give any other Italian restaurant in Bangalore a run for it's money in terms of service, food, decor and overall "feel good" factor. The place is well lit, the comfort levels inside are awesome, and the fact that the waiters are all smiling and cheerful puts you at ease straight away. Based on the ambiance, for the romantic types I can't think of a better place than this to bring a date along.
The drinks aren't comparable to, say, a TGIF, but are nevertheless good and they also have a good collection of wines (I know, I know, Italian... wine... duh!). A portion of bread and bread sticks are served with 3 dips of mayo, basil pesto and diced tomatoes(complimentary), and three large test tubes filled with balsamic vinegar, olive oil and another liquid are kept on the table. Just the presence of these makes you start enjoying the food even before its arrivival. The appetisers are good, and although limited, there's a nice collection for the cows, oops, I mean for the vegetarians. One of the dishes we had needs special mention: parma ham platter with melons. Although this tasted good (and presentation was fantastic for all the dishes), I couldn't think of any reason for the melon (musk melon) becasue neither did it enhance the hams taste nor did it complement it.
For our main course, we sampled one of almost every section: a Procuitto & pineapple pizza, a beef lasagna, a lamb loin, and a chicken tortelloni pasta. Needless to say, all were excellent - in execution, in presentation and in taste. The desserts were, again, great, and according to my friend, this is one place where the Tiramisu is perfect. The other dessert we had was a lemon meringue, which is a superb lemony flavoured pastry with strawnerries. All in all, although the place is a little expensive (with drinks, 4 of us raked up a bill of 4400 including tips), I'm pretty sure if you like Italian food, you'll not walk away disappointed. They Put a Chocolate In My Car!
Its not very often that you come out from a restaurant with a rose in your hand, it is even rarer to find chocolates 'gifted' by the restaurant in your car. That's how Via Milano won my heart after winning over my taste buds.
Much has been written about Via Milano's food, but I would like to comment on their hospitality skills.
Greetings along with a wet hot towel, put us immediately in warm spirits. The congeniality of all stewards was consistent, making you instantly like the place.
I also loved the cutlery... my main dish was served in a triangle shaped plate!
Only disappointing factor was the desert selection that had egg in it, and being strict vegetarian we couldnt order any.
As we left the place, the stewardess handed out a rose to each of the ladies in our group. But the icing on the cake was when I saw they had put in a thank you note in my car with chocolates!
With so much pampering who wouldn't want to go back to Via Milano?

The food is good , no doubt but what happens to service?
The waiter insisted on taking the menu away even when my girlfriend wanted to take a look.
The main cource came cold and after a complaint it came back cold again.
Pull up the socks guys else good food will not hold on for that kind off prices.
Seriously good Sunday lunch
I was recommended to try Sunday lunch here by a friend, and having read the previous reviews I wondered why I hadn't tried it here before, so we gave it a go yesterday and had one of the best Sunday lunches, especially for the price, ever.
We loved the decor, very stylish and with lovely big windows with views over the city. We were shown to a table next to the window, and despite the place being very busy (advisable to book....) we received excellent service throughout. It's a set 3 course menu, limited choice but still enough for us. The antipasti was beautifully prepared, with hot char-grilled prawns and a smoked turkey salad, served with breads and various dressings, we were then brought a slice of wonderfully crisp light pizza. As the wine (included in the price) kept flowing, our main course arrived and the steak was very good, the crushed potato and onion it was served on even better.
Puddings were chosen from the normal restaurant menu, and were very traditional Italian, with semi-fredo, tiramisu (unfortunately sold out), gelato and a fantastic chocolate terrine.
The price was a very reasonable Rs 950 each, including the drinks, which is half what you'd pay for a less personal hotel buffet, though the food was equally enjoyable. We shall definitely return, and are looking forward to trying their normal restaurant menu as well.
