Woodstok presents to you Happy Hours. Get special discounts on bulk drink orders from the special Happy Hours drinks menu.
It's my one the favourite at Bangalore! Just love it. They have good option in sizzler.Cozy ambience with dim lights and 3-4 area to seat. There is a live karoke on classical english pop songs! The staff members were courteous and the food was served on time.Veg - pot pie, which was sinfully loaded with cream, cheese and potatoes; and an Afghan Barbequed Vegetable sizzler, which was different from most sizzlers I've eaten.
A whole Lotta hype
Went to Woodstock because we had heard a lot about their sizzlers, asked for my medium rare but it came out well done. Flavors were very sparse and all our steaks tasted practically the same.
The desserts couldn't save face either. This place is okay at best and a good place to go if it is on your way or for lack of a better option.
Great Chef Offers
The ongoing Chef's choice offer is great. There are some dishes never dished out at Woodstok before as far as I remember. The salmon is very very good.
The veg dishes, particularly the roasted pasta are to die for.
The other dishes sounded interesting too.
The accompanying drinks offer is very tempting too- will try next time.
Good experience as always.
Worse Place to Dine at Now Days
Thought that Woodstok was one of the places that would keep their standards. But that's not it. A place I used to visit as a regular. This is what I found its quality is down, service is a bit slow. I guess staff problems or not trained also, glasses and water is bad. If you drink water there you feel the heaviness being not filtered, plates are stained. This place used to be really good. Now I see REVIEWS saying things which are almost the same as a REVIEW OF SOME OTHER PERSON. I'm guessing that's writing by the staff or something. Food gone to the dogs. No interest from management, no care for their customers. All new faces, staff has changed.
Anyways it used to be a real good place.
A Must vVsit for Steak Lovers!
The ambiance is of a home and they treat you like your mother would treat you! This place makes you feel at home. I sat on the 1st floor balcony looking over a not so busy road. The ambiance on the balcony is something to crave for! The menu is exhaustive too. From steaks to delicious Nachos, this place has it all. A must visit for people looking for a nice time with loved ones! The manager was polite enough to change the dish once I discovered that the dish was not upto the mark. Overall a nice experience.
Good Food And Ambience ; But Bad Service
Decided to try Woodstok for Saturday night catch up with friends. Nice selection of cocktail and shooters; was really impressed with the pork starters. Tried a few flaming shooters - they were quite good.
One of the main courses we ordered was Castiron Pork strew . However what the waiter got us looked like grilled pork and he re-assured that it was indeed CastIron Pork stew. After a few bites , we were left wondering where the stew was in this. Finally we got the menu once again and confronted the waiter - and he agreed that this was Grilled pork and he had lied. Finally we asked for a re-order of Cast Iron Pork Stew and he coyly replies Pork is over !
An otherwise good experience marred by unfriendly staff !
Wallet Factor - Dinner for 4 guys and drinks came to about INR 7600.
The warm and cozy ambience was the highlight of my evening at Woodstok. We went on a weekday, there was no trouble getting seats. Although slightly overpriced, the food was fabulous.
The grilled pork ribs with pepper sauce are a treat to ones taste buds. I ordered for a bacon wrapped beef steak, which i felt couldve done with less saltier bacon, too salty for my taste.
Their happy hours arnt much to talk about. They had a buy 3, get 4 offer or buy 2, get 3 offer, that was it. The good part though, was that the happy hours are on till 11pm :P
Our bill for a veg starter, 3 steaks, and 3 beers ( on the buy 2, get one free :D ) came up to around 2500 bucks. Might not visit any time soon, but will recommend to someone who hasnt tried it yet.
Small place, decent food.
The place is small with tables crammed and other's chairs almost touching your back and sides. But food is ok. Prices are expensive for the kind of place it is and the other charges like service charges and stuff are too steep which gets your final bill amount quite a lot. The building looks cute from outside and service was also good. Worth going once.
a must try place
Went here a few months back. the ambiance is really nice Old school rock 'n' roll.
Food is standard "Italian": we got different pizza's and pastas. cheese-heayy dishes .
a good place to hang out with friends on for dinner or when some sport is going on.
family will also like the place.
Huge Serving Sizes
We landed here for a fairly late lunch with neither of us wanting anything heavy to eat. We werent warned about portion size, though the décor and music should have given us an indication.
Serving sizes were HUGE and it would seem total VFM for a big group. We had a Greek Pizza, a Club Woodstock Sandwich, the Woodstock Double Cheese Beef Burger and an enchilada. The pizza had a wonderful smoky flavor to go with the feta cheese, the sandwich was so-so too much mayo dressing and way to many fries, the burger was a little dry am guessing the meat was a little too lean for the juices to be oozing out and the enchilada was just cheesy a favourite for the eater who ordered it.
Id like to rate this place a 3.5 simply because of the amount of food one has to finish on the plate. Its intimidating when it gets to your plate :-P
That apart, service was friendly and prompt. The music was very 70s and very much to our liking. Id recommend this place to hungry hogs who are looking to polish their plates :-)
Cosy Standard Italian
Went a few months back. Decor is really cosy and lovely! Old school rock 'n' roll.
Food is standard "Italian": Amul-ish mozzarella cheese on the dishes, and cheese-heayy dishes. Don't get me wrong, I will eat this with joy! But this place is not a true Eyetalian place.
We were too full to try the desserts, so I will definitely go again!
Was here for my birthday and I simply loved it. It was a memorable experience. The food was great, the band was great.
The staff was excellent and the Manager was really friendly. Didn't interfere too much but at the same time did not take his eye of the table. He saw everything was served on time.
Good place if you like continental and would like to have a nice time.
We went there for my mother's birthday. Since there were six of us, there was a lot of variety on the table, and I managed to get a taste of a lot of the items on the menu. I highly recommend the Cheesy Soldiers (or the Woodstok Platter), the pasta with meatballs - and the winner, the Algerian fish. I don't know if it's actually cooked in an Algerian style, and being from a fish-loving family, I can tell you it's better than any fish I've ever had before. Loved it so much that we're planning on going again next weekend :D
As good as a dead beat
Went there last night with a group of friends....and was amazed by hw much I was let down by the reviews. Most importantly its totally not worth it....The place is clumsy...ambiance mediocre, nothing amazing. The staff fought around like a bunch of just out of school kids. Nothing too special about the food either. There were 4 sizzlers and one steak ordered and none of em were worth the price they demand. I personally had a chicken and bacon steak and apart from the creamy hint to the mashed potatoes there was nothing amazing about it that would demand a 450 bucks of it. Personally I would be far too pleased to head down to 898 steaks and sizzlers given they charge just over 50% of what woodstock makes you shed...tried the cottage cheese sizzler, afghan kebab veg sizzler and nothing was off the shelf for em either. weird old school videos being played on a small tv screen, does not give the place a vintage feel as the management strongly believes. All in all a very disappointing affair. First and last visit. I would recommend all d guys to head out to 898 steaks and sizzlers in Kormangala or The Only Place if you are looking for a good and worthy steak or sizzler...
Gastronomical Delight !!
Had been on a Monday evening after office with hubby just to linger on the feeling of a super -sunday !! :) My 5th visit here ! !
Food ,food and good food is what I associate with Woodstok ! We started with cream of chicken soup(served with breadsticks and garlic bread and chocolate sauce....yess !! chocolate sauce),chicken kickers and didnt dare to order two mains coz kickers were very filling. I would describe chicken kickers as medium spicy with red chilli flakes spread on batter fried chicken fillets served with a dip ! Tastes good with soup.. For the mains ,we had a Chicken Marsala served with mashed potatoes..Since we were almost full , my husband and I decided to share the dish. It was pretty decent - two pieces of chicken breast cooked in wine, mushroom sauce and oregano.
Although targetting Woostok for me implies a gooey dessert at the end of every meal ,unfortunately tummies were stuffed and we had to do without one that day ! We'l be back soon coz i am already craving for the sizzzling brownie !! :) :) :)
PS: Service is great at this joint with smiling waiters eager to offer advice about food mix and selection !! Our total bill was 900+ ....However,both ST+SC whch makes for arnd 25% of the total bill amount can be quite a ripper.
the 70s night a woodstok
Came to Woodstok yesterday with some of my friends and we were surprised to see the theme of 70s night!! I had a really wonderful time and the atmosphere just made me want to groove to the music!! The waiters wore wigs and glasses..they were sooo cool!! Even got pictures with thm :D I loveeddd ittt!! Im definitely coming here every thursday! The menu was also really interesting! I had the Rasputin roast pork chilli it was amazing!!
Best Place to Eat and Enjoy
Went to woodstok last week, Woodstok has an amazing lively ambience with the best music and ever better food.
It's a great place to go to with your friends and relax. The service is good and food portions were perfect
Ordered woodstok platter for starters and a sizzler. Topped it off with a perfect pastery from their varied dessert counter.
Can't wait to go there agian !
care for us
after going there after a month. i asked my friend to visit.
and it was the best, we asked the manager if we can order for something off the menu.
so it was a yes,......... so we ask for different things. i wanted Indian style, and he got it for me, i was so happy. and they dint even charge me extra. BUT. there is 1 problem. the sizzlers need to be a little more hot. otherwise super fab.
Went there a couple of times and really enjoyed the food... and i love the food, the portion size is perfect....... the people are very friendly and attentive and the overall ambiance is great!! i
a really nice thing about woodstok is that they invent new dishes like the beef mince steak.... :) and also take request off the menu... i look forward to something new every time i visit there.... that's what make me want to go back...cheers...
great place- as always
went back after a long time. the food and the the atmosphere rocked . They have introduced some new dishes with a thai and chinese flavor which were interesting. The vindaloo pork was really good, made very authentic.
The manager recognised me eventhough i went after a very long gap, he even gave my niece a complimentary pastry. a very heart warming gesture.
the service was very warm and efficient. a great place to go back to.
food is good, service not the best
the reason why i thought service not the best is coz you got to pay service tax (
around some 5%) + service charge (10%) + VAT (12%)... 25% goes in tax ... and honestly there wasn't any so called "service"...
the reason i tried woodstok since few of my friends had given very good review about the food... well, food is good and its expensive. Tried grilled a chicken salad which was excellent, steak was also good.
But I am forced to write about service since i saw so many reviews praising the service; may be they had a different experience. Well for me, i didnt feel anything special here. Had to call the waiters two three times for taking the order. When the salad was brought; asked the server whether they would serve... he politely said NO !!! and i am payin some 15% for service !!!!! and whenever the glass was empty had to call them to refill. finally had to wait for 10 minutes to get the bill.... and even had to ask them for napkins...overall i dont say service was that bad; but well , when you are forced to pay for the service you should get some !!!
so if you are food lover you ought to visit this place and dont think about service; obviously i didn't tip :)
Service charge should be voluntary not mandatory
While some of you hard core Woodstok fans may vouch for their great service, I for one did not find it worth tipping at all. I like the concept of Service Charge in UK. They do include S.C in the food bill but it is completely voluntary and left to the guest whether he/she would like to pay or not. There are occasions I have paid and there are some, when I opted not to pay. There was absolutely no grumbling if no S.C. was paid. Also I am surprised how people can assume that SC is a given. Please visit some of the best restaurants in Jayanagar and they do not charge this component at all. It is left to us whether we want to pay the Tip or not. I like this concept which makes me happy to pay for the quality of service I got. In the Woodstok incident, if this choice was given, I would not have paid a single penny !!!
service charge is prerogative of management
The service at this joint is immensely and persistently great. I am a regular here with friends and family and never had a bad experience, once in a while on a weekend, the service is slow, but never rude or disappointing.
The restaurant has a 10% service charge, which is almost a standard in all similar restaurants. In Indiranagar, almost 100% restaurants have this same charge. Guess me must keep it in mind when we go out to eat .
Other wise this is more or less standard. Guess life is not cheap anymore. Hope that the taxes dont go up from next month, with the state and national budgets round the corner!!!!!!!!!!
Service Charge is different from Service Tax.....
We are not referring to Tax. Fluffy, please read carefully, we are referring to SERVICE CHARGE of 10% which is decided by the Restaurant Management. I thought this was unjustified given poor service. Also the rate of most of the items is way too expensive and certainly not VFM.
The service in this place is outstanding, concerned and very responsive. An absolute delight. I was here last sunday, the occasion my friends second marriagr anniv. Travelled all the way from Malleshwaram with spouse and 7 months old kid hoping to finish fast and go home early. Everyone reached by 8 pm, five of us, and started with soups and starters. Great stuff. The woodstok platters, both veg and non veg are outstanding. The live band started at 8:30 upsetting my little one, the manager George promptly approached us and offered to take charge of her, after a bit of hesitation we did hand her over, she was quiet, after a while, allowing us to have our meal in peace.
The live band played some lovely numbers and the place was FULL with some people waiting by 9:00 pm. Guess lots of people come for the music on sunday, it is damn good.
The food was great, a complementary cake from the manager was lovely and made our outing so much more satisfactory. A great place to celebrate an occassion.
Taxes whats up
I cant figure out the incessant discussions on tax rates of various restaurants on this forum. The taxes are fixed by the govt both state and central. The rate of vat may further go up in the coming days as the budget announcements are round the corner. So could the service tax rates . All establishments are bound to collect these and then deposit the same to the concerned govt departments.
As far as the service charge is concerned these depend on individual restaurants to decide, which i agree with another comment here has become a fashion!
As far as the food, atmosphere and service at this place is concerned, it is top class. My group from office were very happy. The place has loads of positive energy and does very well for that reson. Need to book in advance on the weekends, its quite full. Had to wait for over half hour once!
People in Bangalore and in particular the so called "In" crowd, really dont care about prices. That is the reason why places like Woodstock and sundry others are getting away with the kind of prices they are charging. While I agree that food prices have generally shot up and therefore there is no other way for restaurants to survive than increase the prices, these kind of places take it to ridiculous levels.
For instance, one of the items on the menu here is Fried eggs. Now how much would an egg cost? 3 bucks? 5? Even if the damn thing is imported it should not cost more than this price. And for a two pieces of fried eggs with a "complimentary" two bread toast, the price is here Rs.175/_. Add 15% tax and 10% Service charge, the price shoots up to Rs.217/-.
And there are people here who think that this kind of pricing is par for the course and they give 5 star ratings for this place!
Different taste, pricing and service charge high
Been here yesterday. i sort of agree to the positive as well as negative reviews. Positive side, yes the varieties, ambiance and good retro music is very good. on the negative side high pricing on the menu plux taxes of whooping 27% (14% VAT, 3% service tax and 10% service charge) is too much for the kind of hotel it is. I would think 10 times to go back this place.
Amazing food, warm service and great environment- sums up our experience at this place. A dinner with friends from office was great. The beef covered with bacon an absolute delight, soft tender and juicy, the sizzling creation left us askinf for more. The sea food platter ( also on a sizzler) was lovely. The one plus one was a plus too. The music videos playing on the tvs remind you of the golden eighties.
The only thing amiss, the picture od Dev Anand in inkmark on the table mats do not match. Should be replaced by a hollywood star or singing legend of the West.
Overrated! Please stay far away.
You know, I don't really like going to a restaurant that steals like a huge amount for service charges (10%?) when isn't worth one tiny bit, I think it's like a new trend in Bangalore.
Ambiance is good, seems like a house that's made into a restaurant.
The menu looks good, they seem to have a lot of food on it but the pricing will outright disappoint you.
The only thing good about it is the live music.
Food is nothing out of the ordinary. If you're traveling quite a distance to get here and if it's going to be your first time, take my word and stay away, find another restaurant even if you have a lot of money to throw around.
Seriously, the restaurant needs to get rid of those service charges.
Not a pleasant experience
This is perhaps the 1st time I am writing not so positive feedback about a Restaurant in Burrp.com. Being a sizzler freak, I was enthused to visit Woodstok, who were advertising their Sizzler festival on FM radio channels. However realized it was not worth undertaking a long journey to Woodstok from Jayanagar. First of all, the service quality is pathetic. My bad experience started at 12noon when I called up the Restaurant to book a table for the evening (25th Feb 7:30pm). The guy who received the call perhaps could not communicate in English and I had to switch over to Hindi after some time. I reached the place finally with my family at 7:30pm. The TV screens were playing retro English hits from 80s and 90s reminding me of the golden MTV era. While we were waiting for the Waiter to arrive there was nobody to ask for water. The food order was taken and the sizzlers arrived well in time. However the other main dish that was ordered (Pasta) arrived almost after the Sizzlers were consumed. This was embarrassing since 1 family member was just waiting for her food while the rest were done. When my sizzler arrived, it was placed without the cutlery and napkin. Isn't this basic stuff ?? When I asked for the sauces, there was a blank look from the waiters as if I ordered something not available in this world. It is but natural that when sizzlers are ordered, it should be accompanied by various sauces (Mustard/Worcester/Tomato/etc). Finally they served worcester sauce and tomato ketchup in small plates !! There was no salt / pepper on the table and when we asked for it, the waiter brought some tissue papers :) That was hilarious. I was wondering what kind of service is this when you are made to pay 10% as SERVICE CHARGES. Yes 10% as S.C. This is absolutely not acceptable when I was planning not to tip even Re 1 !!! Everything had to be asked for and demanded. Nothing came on its own and the Management dares to charge such an exorbitant S.C. !! I will not say that the quality of food was bad ; it was quite OK but not VALUE FOR MONEY considering the cost of each dish. I would certainly recommend Indi Joe or Kobe for their VFM sizzlers and their service quality rocks. I think the management of Woodstok will certainly need to improve their service quality and communication skills of their client facing staff to survive in this cut throat restaurant business, where a Customer looks for Value for Money. I will not visit this place again.
blue berry cheesecake-best in bangalore
We were looking for steaks, and we found the best place in Bangalore. Woodstok, seems to have got it right on their steaks and sizzlers. The choice is quite varied, with almost every meat covered, the beef, pork, lamb chicken and seafood. It is heaven for meatlovers.
The steaks came hot on sizzling platters - the sauces and marination on the steaks were perfect, the meats were well done to our specifications.
The service was great . The music was better.
The bar menu is fairly exhaustive with a fine selection of wines, which went well with the steaks.
Last but not the least- the blue berry cheesecake was heaven. Perrrrfect, the best we ever had.
Been to Woodstok so many times. Absolutely love that place! The live music is pretty great. And apart from that as well, they have good music playing there. The food is no less. All the pizzas, sizzlers and other main courses i've tried have been awesome. I especially recommend The Chicken Marsala. The pina colada is also a must have over there.
To sum up, awesome food, awesome music and awesome drinks...
The atmosphere at this place last sunday was scintillating with live music being played by Anthony and Sandra- very engaging and interactive stuff. The place was full and a tad noisy with groups of youngsters and families sitting in different rooms and levels.
Smokie sizzlers on almost all tables added to the ambience. In all this the service still managed to be efficient and relaxed.the dishes came hot and tasting good. Our london house grill and surf and turf were as good as ever. The chinese sizzler was great too.
The place definitely has a lot of young positive energy - book in advance or you may not get place on the weekend.
Very Highly Priced disappointment
We have been there for a celebrations and various reasons that I gave them 2 stars
1. There is no Vallet parking nor any one to tell where we can park.
2. The waiters are untrained to explain the dish/Sides. They cant even give alternate suggestion based on your choices.
3. We ordered 5 dishes and 3 of them looked different but tasted the same.
4. Service is Very fast - before we could finish the soup we had main course. It was sitting on our table for 10 min and went cold.
I am definately not going again and wouldn't recommend either.
loved the grilled fish...
...and the salad. two mains were enough for four of us when paired with a single salad and dessert. Only bit off was the overhot iron plate for the sizzling brownie, which kinda burnt off the chocolate sauce. However, team took feedback well and even packed a doggie bag treat to recompense, which is a nice touch indeed.
Have been to this place several times...Sometimes with friends...somestimes with colleagues and sometimes with the hubby! Have tried their sizzlers, buritos, pizzas and many starters. Dint like the bbq chicken wings too much, liked the crumb fried chicken which was awesome! All in all...a good place to relax on a friday nite or weekend lazy lunch..
Will keep going to this place!
The Salads are top notch (among other things)
My favorites at this place
- The bbq chicken salad (best I've had in Bangalore)
- Potato Skins, as mentioned are awesome.
- Haystack Salad (really tasty and awesome portions)
- The Prawn/Bacon Pizza - it doesn't get much better than that.
Cheap alcohol prices with the happy hour are also good. Come by 8PM, if you go at 8:30 most tables will probably be taken.
Perfect place to wind down on a Fri evening
3 of us went here on Friday, after a hectic week in office. Loved the cozy ambience. Wanted to sit on the terrace, but was full. Was nicely lit up, giving it a very christmas-y feel. Starters were quite nice, esp. the roasted potato skins which were awesome. Drinks were great, not watered as in most other places in Blr. Service was good- friendly with a smile. Planning to go again soon.
Went here last night with a friend. Like the whole set-up of this place. Music is good. BTW, the happy hours on weekday are till 9:30pm and weekends till 8:00pm. We landed here at 9:30, but were not able to avail the happy hours :(. Prices are little steep for the locality. Started off with Buffalo wings (BBQ sauce), must try, but there are just 6-7 pcs. Main course, thai Green curry with pineapple rice sizzler, do try this one...worth every last bite. Plus 2 beer pints, total damage of Rs.1300. Would try this place again for the pizza's. Make sure you'll utilize the happy hours, coz that helps make up for the food prices... :)
lovely as always
this is one of my favorite joints in indiranagar
love the ambience and music
the one plus one on the bar menu is an added advantage when with friends.
the food as always is wonderful specially the sizzlers which are lovely. The london house grill is particularly great. just love the music.
cheers to woodstok
What makes us suckers....
... the moment restaurants mention "happy hours"? The greed of drinking more for less? The satisfaction of getting the bang for the buck? The smugness of feeling superior that someone is offereing you something free because they need your patronage???
Whatever the heck it is, happy hours is one big crowd puller. And in many restaurants, the happy hours are genuine. Meaning that you can feel smug/satisfied/satiate your greed, all at once.
But what do you make of cheats like Woodstok, who jack up the regular prices way higher than, say even the Five Star bars, and then offer happy hours??? Let me tell you why..
A few days back I was at this place. And when I was looking through the bar menu, I found a bottle of Kingfisher beer, which is priced Rs.75/- in the local retail shop priced at a whopping sum of Rs.390!!! A 520% jumb on the retail price???? For what??? I mean these guys are not serving beer in a silver mug or offering some munchies to go with the beer. Oh no sir... stingy bastards they are....
So even if one were to go by the yardstick of happy hours offer a bottle would cost about 195 bucks, way above the price this hole in a wall kind of place should be charging.
Very happy hours
I had been to Woodstock last Thursday (ladies/couples night) and loved the ambiance. As the restaurant wasn't crowded, we were seated on the balcony. Although small with only three tables, being seated there made us feel great..maybe it was the breeze. It must have been a large bunglaw that has been converted into a restaurant and beautifully so!
As it was 'happy hours', we got a two cocktails at the price of one. The menu prices for these cocktails varies from Rs. 350 to Rs. 450, which I'd say is quite expensive. However, they were not watered down at all.. which was great!
About the food, I can't really comment as we only ordered a plate of onion rings. But they were very good onion rings! We also got a complimentary plate of chips-n-dip after the waiter noticed that we were out of food with plenty left to drink, which was a really nice gesture.
The total damage for 4 cocktails and a plate of onion rings was around Rs. 1000-1100 and out of this, around 200 INR was tax alone! Although this spells decent, I don't see why they should charge service charge as well as service 'tax' apart from VAT, making the total tax coming up to 20% of the tab. This was the not-so-happy part of the evening.
Overall, I'd rate it as a date spot. Would love to visit again, especially during happy hours. ;)
Not as expected....Poor and Slow Service...
Happened to enter this place today... but somehow not upto the mark...service was slow.....and staff not too polite...slightly overpriced for the kind of space or ambience. We had to search for a waiter...
Place is too cramped and when we asked for an extra chair for my kid, the waiter's first response was "no chairs"...
Looks like this place is lil overhyped...only due to some people staying arnd Indranagar and who have not been to better cafe's in other areas in blr.....
The food at this place is very good. Clean, fresh and appetising. The ambience excellent and the service though not matching with the food being dished out, good. not great.
i could live with that, though i distinctly rememeber it being way better earlier.
The food takes a bit of extra time to reach the table but the wait is somewhat excused when it does arrive hot and tasty.
the happy hours pretty much on the whole time, is like a magnet drawing us to the place most of the time. the sizzlers are great, the addition of indian sizzlers is welcome.
Expensive & not value for money at all
After reading some positive review I decided to try out this place on sat.we ordered for blueberry cheese cake & baby pork ribs.Cheese cake was ok though my 4 yr daughter didn't like it at all.As far as pork ribs were concerned ,out 4 pieces 3 of them ,the meat was not succulent at all,it was too hard, though the BBQ sauce was edible. The place is overtly expensive ,service very slow, infact I had call the waiter after waiting for 10 mts.I f anyone wants a rooftop ambience then it's worth visiting otherwise for good food ,forget it.
I had chosen this since they claimed to offer a rooftop table. This was what was the most disappointing, since this restaurant is set inside a house, the rooftop was just a small balcony where three tables were crammed up. We had a light continental dinner which was decent. The prices are a little high but that was expected, however the ambience (rooftop!) let me down.
I visited woodstok a few weeks back. I had heard mixed reviews about the place, but decided to give it a shot.
We ordered a sea food soup (or something on those lines), a grilled fish steak and the house special steak.
The soup was good. The house special was at best average with the sauce being inconsistent in texture and the meat was over done. Its not ideal, but i can live with that.
The Grilled fish though was the bad part. The sauce was so salty that we had to take off the sauce and eat the meat (returning the dish was not an option as they had already taken almost 30 min to serve this).
The service was rather slow but considering the waiters are doing a circus up the stairs and down through various rooms, it can be excused. The ambiance is nice and can be a nice cosy date place.
The rates though are ridiculously expensive for the quality and quantity offered. I am sorry to say, but Road trip just down the road is a far better option to this over priced cafe. To pay close to 500 for steak that is not even made to specs, is stretching it a bit much. Maybe its time they restructure their approach.
Would i go back? Maybe for that soup... but i rather not. There are better options around.
Really liked the place
Been there some 5 times in the last 3 months. It is one of the very good steak places in Bangalore. The bacon loaded potato skins are lovely. And you must try the London House grill if you are carnivore. The dessert section can be much better. They focus too much on chocolate and after a meal that heavy you do crave for something tangy and fresh. But by and large a good eating experience. Great place to be with friends.
Extremely poor service and very average food
The quality of service was poor beyond imagination. The following were the key issues.
Inordinate delay - we spent 2 hours 20 minutes to complete our lunch. The waiters pretend to understand English - so they get the orders incorrectly. This resulted in the main course being brought before the starters. When they took back the main course and brought it after the starters, they did not even bother to re heat it - the coldest sizzlers that we had seen ! When complained, the staff give all kinds of reasons without accepting their mistakes and they charge 10% service charge for this kind of service. If you value your money, please stay away from this place.
Good place to chill with friends
Good place. Nice ambience. I thought the service was pretty slow. But no complaints really. The food was yum. We went here for dinner. Don't exactly remember what we had because we ordered quite a lot and everything e had was tasty. Recommend this place to anybody and everybody.
Just Fine : for a one time experience
I and my wife have dropped by for a lunch today, after noting the rave reviews and also our own personal experience with their sister conceern of desserts on 100ft road, Indiranagar. I have the following to note on an ascending order of 1...5(highest).
Food: We have ordered thin crust white pizza of roasted garlic and veggies. Its simply superb. Even the suggestion by the waiter is appreciated. However the woodstock platter, though conceived to be an assortment of the starters, turned out to be a damp squib; primarily as the cheesesticks are not hot enough to find the gooey cheese.
Now the aftermath of this culinary journey is inadvertent impact on our tummies!! Yes indeed we are affected with sort of food poisining or some sort leading to unexpected stomach problems and motion, after about 1hr after our lunch. By the way we have not taken anything in between. Would peg the rating at 3/5.
Mocktails are just fine: both the Pinacolada and the Southern Ginger, though the latter could have had much more fizz.
Ambience: nice lil cozy nook and well done with right environment and music. 4/5
Service: Great. Could have been better if someone could clear the table proactively at the end of every course or atleast before the presentation of the bill. 3.5/5
Price: Pretty exorbitant by any standards and when compared with the overall experience I must admit it is by far one of the extremely exorbitantly priced menu by any reckoning. 5/5
Value: considering the overall experience, must say it is average 3/5.
Improvements: they can consider having the tissues on the table; ensure the quality of the food is enhanced with fresh ingredients so that consumer is not affected postprandial; and lil bit of proactive yet unintrusvie service would help the brand regain its credence.
best place to start the weekend
a gr8 place to have continental dinner with family . every starter is served with cream so for those trying to avoid it ,it sure becomes tempting as the taste is obviously enhanced by it . the grilled fish was however filled with the bones so that was a bit of a bummer.apart from this rest all the dishes especially the fish and chips was very delicious.the vegeterian platter is a must try and crevette fritties (prawns starter) for the non-vegeterians
This place is great for a romantic rendezvous where you dont feel the pinch of paying your bill, otherwise its a pain in your wallet. The tax is 27% (??) - VAT is 14%, service tax is 3% and service charge is 10%, so no need of tips. Otherwise, the food is good and its a different kind of a place where ambiance takes over everything. Worth a try but not a must try.
Eat, Drink & Chill
The restaurant is lovely, seems like an old independent house which is made into a restaurant. There is both inside and outside seating. The outside seating has about 3 tables; its like the balcony of the house which overlooks the road. Bangalore weather is great, but it can get a bit sunny and quite noisy on the outside. After sitting for about twenty minutes, we decided to move back in.
The good part is Woodstock Inn has Happy hours across the week. Actually it gets better now, unlike a lot of other pubs and restaurants, they have happy hours on everything which is your regular beer, cocktails and the big one wine ;) Average cost for a LiiT is around Rs 400/- whereas one glass of wine costs anywhere between Rs 360 480 bucks. Thus its quite decent to have a couple of Long island iced teas for 400 bucks and they make it really good.
The food menu has lots of options right from Italian and Mexican starters, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, Mexican, sizzlers. We ordered the nachos for starters and was really good. For the main course I ordered the Cottage cheese and Kabab sizzler which was strictly okay, it was different but bland. Think I went wrong in ordering that, but my friends ordered a couple of non veg sizzlers which was apparently just awesome! Desserts tried the Kahlua Mousse, its huge comes in a glass which is full of mousse, completely worth the extra calories!
Average meal for two Rs 1500 (Without Alcohol) for a full 3 course meal. It was completely worth the money, I would definitely recommend this place to just chill, drink and eat!
Last night me and my friends visited this place..I had been to this place before and found it nice and worth visiting again but the terrible experience at the hands of Mr.Shakti last night made me swear that i would never visit this place again. It was a couples day and the couples were to be given a 20% discount on food. The staff told us that we would be given a 20% discount. The bill generated which was to the amount of 2000 + 500 as service charge, had no mention of the discount promised, so we decided to speak to the manager. The manager (Mr. Shakti) first argued that since we were 2 couples so the offer was invalid and when we countered him saying that the staff had only informed us about the offer he decided that it was the waiter's fault and that the money would be deducted from his salary!! Now this really put all of us off..The fact that they had a board put up on the gate which said COUPLES Day made no sense to him. And i didn't quite understand what difference did it make if there were two couples? How does the offer turn invalid.? I'm not so put off buy the fact that they refused to give us a discount but the fact that they decided to take it out on a helpless waiter..So we deducted the service charge from the bill and paid it to the waiter.. All of us decided never to visit this place again where the system can stoop to a level so low that they decide to the cut the waiter's salary. Its very important that a customer leaves with a smile..a fact that WOODSTOCK failed to understand..Pathetic!!
First, the ambience was great ... the food was splendid. Very tasty. The best part was the outstanding service, particularly of Shakti and Praveen (or Naveen, I am not sure of his name). I especially liked the pasta sienna from the main course options, and the nachos which were part of the starters...
And, before i forget ... great music videos too. Was particularly nice watching thr Eagles Live ...
Music, Food, Ambience and Happy Hours!
What a refreshing change - just when I though I'd tried almost every restaurant in Indiranagar - I stumbled upon Woodstock. It was difficult to choose the prefect table as each has its own charm. This refreshing place is a corner villa beautifully turned into a restaurant. Right from the guy helping us park to the waiter to the cashier - everyone was really pleasant. We relished beer and mocktails in their happy hours and a wonderful platter for starters. After a couple of hours and a three course, we were sure we would hve spent a bomb - but were pleasantly surprsed to see a meagre bil.....All in all it was a great experience.
Nice ambience, Immaculate food
Have been hunting for a fresh, new restaurant last few months and looks like the wife was hiding this trump card up her sleeve!
We were in a hurry so we went for a quick meal on Ugadi Monday late evening comprising a Greek salad, a grilled fish sizzler and a sea food main course platter.
Glen helped us settle in even though we were just passing by and therefore without a reservation. Service was efficient and the ambience cosy, inviting, comfortable.
The salad (veg.) was near-perfect and the grilled fish was very well-made. Even the seafood dish was extremely satisfying.
I quite liked the DVD old-rock/ pop videos playing on the wall TV. They have good offers for different audience segments various weekdays. It was difficult to tear away from the dessert (and drinks) on offer but we had to leave that for another night as we needed to rush.
All in all - a strong recommendation for western/ continental cuisine.
Heard so much about the place, decided to check it out last evening. The layout of the place strikes you as very private and cozy, a great place to enjoy a quiet meal with family. The menu options are immense and the service pleasing and polite.
The taste and temperature of the food served was near perfect. The 1 plus 1 offer on all liquors great. The desserts were really good too.
There was a small delay in serving one of the main course, but other than that it was a nice experience.
Great great great
Was here for lunch with family today and was looking for vegetarian food today. They are very good for all the non veg food, but wasnt sure of the veg options. We were surprised to find so many options to choose from. We had a couple of veg sizzlers ( afghan barbeqed and a mexican sizzler) both were outstanding. The pizzas ordered for the kids were very fresh and tasty.
For desserts they had some eggless options, like the sticky pineapple and strawberry pastry. The music and the service were as usual good.
A great place for a family outing.
I found this place to be pretty sad and a sham in the name of international cuisine.
The chicken pot pie I ordered was more of chicken broth and was not a pie in any way. The Mexican fare (tortilla and enchilada) was pretty ordinary as well. The prices were also quite high with respect to the food served. Would cost 1000 Rs. for a decently filling meal for two.
A bit of a let down
I had more than just a few friends mention this place - so decided to pay a visit.
The location and the setting of this place are very nice and so is the decor but the food was a let down. The pizza was a big let down - was it just with me !!!!
I will probably go back and try it a second time - but they will really need to make up for lost ground if i am to be a regular here
A good place to hang out
A casual restaurant that serves a mixture of veg and non-veg western and mexican food. I really enjoyed the layout of the restaurant, small rooms tucked away for some coziness. Down side was annoying microphone/sound checks blasting as they prepared for live music performance. Almost made me wish they just stuck to a classic rock CD instead. We happened to come during Happy Hour- buy 1 get 1 free which was well worth it, even if my Long Island Ice Tea and my husband's Mojito were just ok. We decided to indulge in the deep-fried platter appetizer (mozzarella sticks, potato skins, and onion rings). Pretty good! Then on to mains. I decided to continue the deep fried theme and went with Fish & Chips. I personally like a lighter fluffier batter on my fish but theirs was good. My husband went with the BBQ pork ribs since you don't see those too often in Bangalore. We weren't big fans of the sauce but the portions and sides are generous and it comes out sizzling hot!
fantastic live music and food
Went to Woodstok after a long time as I was away in Delhi on an official assignment. Was there yesterday and man what great live music was playing. The performing group was absolutely fabulous!!!! The song selection great and the lead singer (Shyam) could sing very perfectly whatever we requested. This is sure a wonderful addition to the woodstok experience.
The food as usual was the best. I really missed this place in Delhi, do not have something similar to this there.
Our group of five had a wonderful evening. The happy hours was intact, we were happy to note, with a wider selection of wines.
As always a great great experience, lovely music and not surprisingly the place was full on a weekday.
Good things come in small packages..Here is one!
So Woodstok, A neatly done cute little place tucked in a corner. It has an extensive menu of lots of cuisines. The food is a bit overpriced( especially the starters) but decent. the sizzlers are the best of the lot.
But what gives it all the good points is their bloody awesome happy hours. It is till 10 every night except on Sundays that is till 8 ( still the only place which has happy hours on Sundays).
Great bar menu also. Surely gonna be one of my frequents for their alcoohol.
One flop though, the service is little poor as in takes a lot of time and also the waiters tend to forget to serve what you ordered and check your bill before you pay cuz they made lot of additions in mine.
fab burgers and pizzas
Was here last week post lunch. As most places close at 3 pm we decided to try woodstok. My collegues and I were surprised to find that they have all day lunch, ie everything is available throughout the day.
But as we had decided upon eating burgers and pizzas that is just what we ordered. The beef burger was out of this world, amazingly juicy! The pizzas selection was interestingly different from a lot of places which specialize in italian food. The char grilled pizza i tried was exceptional. So was the "Hot Presley" tried by my collegue.
The coffees were satisfactory, but the Giradhelli range was very nice. We will definitely be coming back.
Visited Woodstok on monday it was "corporate day" . Was pleasantly surprised to note that monday-thursday they have different days wherein you get good discounts on the food and a very long happy hours!
Our gang of 10 had a blast. Sitting in the corporate room, specially set aside for big groups like ours, we had the place to ourselves where we could talk loudly, without disturbing other guests, or being disturbed by them.
We ordered a lot of things ( considering we were 10 of us) ranging from pizzas to london house grill on a sizzler plate. The food was freshly prepared and awesome. We were particularly impressed by the variety of food offered, and the professionalism with which each was served. The cocktails on a 1+1 basis were excellent. The barman came over to table to take order and tweaked the drinks to our requirement. The second complimentary drink was prepared as per our requirement and did not have to be the exact duplicate of the one we had before. We felt that was really generous.
The decor of the place is like none other in Bangalore, and the music just right. We requested some music and were immediately obliged.
All in all we had a great time Woodstalking and would sure visit soon on another Monday. or maybe on thursday with my family- this being the family day.
The customers perception is your reality
Feedback: The process in which the evaluation of the output of a system is returned to the input in order to regulate its further output. A feedback has the power to make or break lives & I always feel responsible for the consequences when I deliver one. Having said that, I have tried to remain honest as far as I could, brushing aside the human qualities like hate & anger to express our experience "AS IS".
To date, I had been to Woodstock thrice. Three reasons influenced our three visits, the depth in the menu, all day happy hours (1+1) & convenient accessibility. Why write a review after the 3rd experience? Why not earlier? The following are the chain of events .
Our first time at Woodstock was for a Sunday afternoon Barbeque fair advertised on Burrp, a few weeks after they started business. Upon reaching the venue, to our dismay we learnt that only chicken was dished out from the grill. Anyway it was too late to hop elsewhere, hence chose to stay on & try the regular menu. We started with a Woodstok Non-Veg platter in spite of knowing that the only grilled member in it was Poulet Blanquette (Chicken wrapped in Bacon). It was edible, nevertheless. The other deceased in the platter were Chicken Fingers (Poulet Goujon), Chicken Wings & Crumb fried prawns (Crevette Fritters). Further to the platter we stomached an average tasting Chimichanga which was served with avocado mix & Sour cream dip.
Deep Fried cooking dominated the starter menu with only Poulet Blanquette & Spare ribs being the exceptions. Having sampled the former in the platter, the latter was ordered along with a yellowish & creamy Almond based soup. Our waiter suggested against the ribs as they were not good that day. The Soup was really thick & was pouched in a bread bowl, which impressed our eyes & taste buds equally. Drinks from the happy hours menu were ordered in between every order & that included Whiskey based Brass Fiddle, Long island ice tea, classic Martini & a Mojito. Brass fiddle was bad, but the classics that followed with their respective twins did remain loyal to their names.
"Sunny Side up Pizza with bacon" was our only entree as the grease from the starters almost engulfed & swallowed our appetite like a vicious python. The pizza reached us after a little wait & it was sized slightly smaller than the regular medium pizzas served at branded outlets. The pizza too was very greasy, primarily because of the bacon & had no distinctive taste. The bacon toppings were soggy & the base was over burnt. Our spirits borrowed some moisture from the soggy topping by the time we finished it. As usual we called it a day with a sizzling "Walnut Rocky road", Chocolate ice cream covered with butterscotch cream, topped with nuts & choco chips. It was heavy, but worked as a nice departure treat. The wait staff lacked product knowledge & were really slow in whatever they did, right from filling our glasses to bringing food to our table.
An Unplanned Return:
8:45PM on 25th Nov 2010: Crockery shopping at Koramangala came to an end. We were running low on sugar & definitely wanted to recharge. "What shall we do? Where can we go? What do you want to eat? No!! You tell me what you want to eat?" were exchanged before I said WOODSTOK. 9:15pm, we were seated at the same table watching the same music videos we saw on our first visit. Our waiter filled the glasses right away & handed over the menu.
Woodstok Veg platter & baby spare ribs were ordered along with Long Island Ice Tea & a Guava based Mocktail "Ignite". Ribs arrived in express pace, followed by the platter with a slight lag. The ribs, coated with a thick layer of Barbeque sauce were juicy & succulent. They were accompanied by a dry portion of garlic bread & steamed broccoli. The platter had onion rings, loaded potato skins & cheese soldiers (Fritters). The soldiers were bland; little salt would have changed the equation. Ignite was delightfully rich & creamy with a mix of vanilla ice cream & guava pulp. Long Island Ice Tea was very light with an overdose of coke & it was served in regular water glass. This time we witnessed an INR 50 hike in the prices in the bar menu. 380 bucks for this, No! I was in no mood to compromise. I instructed the Bartender to re-do it with 45ml liquor & a dash of coke. He did exactly the same & I was already getting into a happy mode. From then on the Bartender handled my drinks well & he did not disappoint me with the Mojitos, Margaritas & Caribbean ice teas that followed. "Cream of Broccoli" in a bread bowl was creamy & resembled a Potterish Magic potion. Chicken Ravioli for entree was dry & faded away without an appeal.
We settle with an Almond-Chocolate pudding (Woodstok Wonder) & a cylindrical Blueberry cheesecake for dessert. The pudding was surrounded by a web of cream, something like the cartoonish Spiderman's web. Both the desserts were good & our waiter, in spite of being a new employee managed to serve us to the best of his abilities. On the whole, it turned out to be a pleasant dinner experience that filled the craters carved by the previous visit.
Empty box of sadness:
5:30pm on 27th Nov 2010, we walked out of Level III as they were not in operations until 6:30pm. In fact, we were too early to step into any place & that is when the pleasantries from the 25th night drew us to Woodstok....AGAIN!!!!. We climbed a fleet of stairs & took a left to enter the same place where we were seated previously. As we entered the room playing the same old music videos, we saw a man from the North east cleaning the table on the right side of the window. Apart from the two tables occupied outdoors, the restaurant was void of customers. This time we chose not to sit where we were seated previously, hence we told the waiter (who was cleaning the table) "We are going to take this table that is being cleaned"....He replied "NO!!! TAKE THAT ONE (referring to the one on the left of the window). Fair enough!!! We obliged as it was evident that he was grumpy & our evening was so precious to confront anybody's mood swing. We quickly surfed though the menu & placed an order for Baby back spare ribs, Caesar's Salad-Chicken, Long Island Ice tea & Strawberry Fields. Ribs arrived first; before I could take a bite...She asked "Where is your mashed potato?"...I was startled & checked the menu one more time....Spare ribs were supposed to be accompanied by steamed broccoli, garlic bread & mashed potatoes. How did I miss it the first time? Never mind! I requested the waiter for mashed potatoes without realizing that he would rebut...He said "I HAVE NEVER SERVED MASHED POTATOES WITH SPARE RIBS!!!!". I handed over the menu to him & asked him to read the details of the dish we ordered. Instead of honoring our order, he continued to refute & his attitude swung from the Alps to the Himalayas. He was too cold to handle & we were treated like Pan Handlers. We immediately stood up, wished him Good luck & started walking....he shouted "Ok!!! OK!!! WAIT!! COME!!! I WILL GIVE IT TO YOU!!!.. WHY ARE YOU ACTING LIKE THIS?", by then our ears were numb & we continued to walk out, still trying to figure out how he pooled up the courage to behave the way he did.
Every other restaurant in town is charging 10% service charge! Every other restaurant in town is charging the same for the food served! Woodstok can draw similar comparisons to justify what they feel is right. My question is "Would you handle a customer roughly, just because every other place does it? Constant supervision & training are mandatory to streamline or standardize any operation. The potential of ONE man yields results depending on the way it is channelized, like how Edison lit the world & Hitler plunged it into darkness. When you customer dislikes you, your competitors would love you.
Nice Place but Service Pathetic
I went to Woodstok this evening and when i got there at 9:45, The head waiter asked us to wait at the door and forgot about us..and when we got in at 10 to enquire, he remembered us (Thankfully) and found us a table(Finally!)..
Once seated we ordered for a couple of starters, which were delicious and my frenz a bottle of beer each...but when my frenz at 10:30 ordered for their 2nd round of drinks (1 Beer each) and the main course..The Head waiter has the audacity to walk up to our table and tell us to FINISH us DRINKS and DINNER fast as they had to close the place down at 11:30, as they had problem with cops..
What I failed to understand was the School Headmasterly tone of the Head waiter and when confronted on his tone, he deems it unfit to reply to us..
I am completely AGHAST at such an uncouth behaviour..
This was my first time to Woodstok and can safely say will be my last time, inspite of the everythin good they have.
For a restaurant to be termed good, it not only should have good food but also a mind for so called CUSTOMER SERVICE, which the Service staff at Woodstok seems to have forgotten.
No Processed Cheese Please!
We went to this restaurant all the way from JP Nagar, after having read good/great reviews. We were promptly ushered inside and were asked to take a table for two in the center of the room! Boy, if we had opted for that table, we would have surely tanked the neighbor's elbows, with ours! The place has too many tables/chairs per square foot! We opted to sit outside.
The Menu is exhaustive and we settled for a Vegetarian Quesadilla and Burritos. The food was more than eagerly served what even before we had finished the starter! Quesadilla was served with sour cream and salsa verde which were excellent. But the quesadilla? A note to the chef and the management: Sirs, if you cannot source good cheese, it is ok! But please refrain from using the processed cheese in the quesadilla! Because of which the dish was very salty and tasted raw/uncooked!!
About the burritos: It was another wrap with vegetables grilled/sautéed in Indian spices! Nothing Mexican about it. But the accompaniments were damn good.
We are sorry to note that many "Class" restaurants in Bangalore serve very average fare either they are ignorant or they just want to dupe the customers, since they "think" customers will eat anything that is served with an international name! Sorry folks, that is short term....
I am also surprised to read so many good/great reviews for what is an average restaurant.
Woodstok - Food for the Soul
First of all - a welcome addition to the Bangalore food scene - this is one place I will go back to again and again.
For starters we had the Woodstok Non-Veg Platter with classic margaritas. I must say the Buffalo Wings are fantastic - and I will have a plateful next. Loved the prawns...the rest was fine with the exception of the bacon wrapped chicken which was a disaster...:( the only bad moment at the restaurant for me.
You must try the Green Thai Chicken with Pineapple Rice - a true triumph of a dish - the explosion of flavors is memorable and the portions soul satisfying! Dessert must-have is the Blueberry Cheesecake which is one of the best that I have had in Bangalore - it just melts in the mouth and is gone too quickly though the portion is generous!
Worth mentioning are the 1+1 offer they have on the drinks pretty much all the time (check before you go when you make your reservations tho') and the quick & efficient service.
