3 Kingdoms

3 kingdoms !
One of the better restaurants in recent times in Chennai.
They serve Chinese-Thai cuisine. I had ordered the The Cauliflower Manchurian which was very nice. Another dish that's good is Veg Siu Mai. The Massaman Curry was different to the usual Green Curry and is loaded withpeanuts and coconut milk.
I liked it and I feel it had authentic food. Other plus points are good customer relationship and helpful staff.
I will definitely head back for a more detailed food journey and I suggest you make it to 3 Kingdoms too !

mixed bag like the name suggests

Service and ambience is very good. Food is only so so. A bit over priced considering the portions served. Menu has a few things from each of the three cuisines served viz malay, Thai and Chinese. But nothing really stands out.

Great combo of delicious food and good service

The first aspect of the restaurant which impressed me was the service. I should really appreciate Mr Suman, the waiter for my table who was fantastic at his job. The food was very delicious and felt it was definitely worth the price. There was a small hiccup with one of the dish but they were so courteous to offer a complimentary dessert to make up for it. I would consider that as great customer relations. Big thumbs up for this place.

EXCELLENT FOOD - VFM

I had visited this restaurant a few days back with my Family. As this was my first visit to this place,I kept my fingers crossed. We opted for the Buffet and as it was a Sunday and we had come in early only a few tables were occupied. To my surprise,I was told that the food would be served on the table. This is the first time I was having buffet served on the table and was a bit confused.

We opted for the Non-veg soup and its was the start of a beautiful Journey. It was something that we never tasted before and Flavour and taste was exquisite .We were then served with 6 varieties of Starters and every thing was perfect and the waiters were excellent in their hospitality and ensured that our plates were never empty. The main course was 4 types of Gravies and Rice(2 types) & Noodles. The deserts was the topping in the cake and was very happy and satisfied to have chosen the right place for eating out.The bill was the biggest surprise as we learnt that this elaborate buffet was just Rs300/- nett and our Children were charged only Rs200/- nett.

Amazing Thai and Malaysian Food

Not being a lover of oriental food, I gave in to my wife and some other friend's request to visit this new place in town for Dinner. We walked in to find the restaurant very well designed, well lit (unlike some of their up market Chinese restaurants), the interiors were well done and more importantly it was not noisy.

We had ordered for chicken Sate, wantons and I preferred Tom Yum Soup. The service was very good and fast, in no time our food arrived and the food was so good that for a minute it changed my perception of oriental Food.

Tom Yum soup was very different (it was actually tasty) and the starters we had ordered were also amazing.

Me again being a skeptic, ordered Plain Rice and Beef Rendang, actually just going by the managers Suggestion, if you don’t like Beef, you can choose chicken as well.

I tell you, I will go back to the restaurant just to have that Beef Rendang, this is just too good, its Hot, spicy and tasty. What else can I say, the other things we had ordered (Chicken fired Rice, some Chicken cooked in coconut gravey etc) were also very good.

I will surely go back to this place, and I will personally recommend you to try Chicken / Beef Rendang.

Oriental food that actually tastes oriental!

My husband and I went there for a casual dinner on a Sunday night. The ambiance does not reflect the type of cuisine they serve, but the food made up for it. Like many other so-called Thai restaurants in Chennai, I expected this place to serve Indian-oriental food. But surprisingly the food was more authentic than that I've tasted in many other places. What I loved the most was how they had cooked the Mongolian beef gravy. The meat was tender and moist with all the succulent flavors coming through very well!
Overall, we like the place and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for some good Oriental food!

Great place...must visit for Asian food lovers

I have been in Thailand for a while and hence, I know what does thai food mean. I tried out dorm thai food here. It was good, the price was fine, ambience is a bit ok, but the location of the restaurant is a bit hard to find on this road, its a bit inside in the building like a hidden treasure.

letdown

With a name like 3-kingdoms, I went in with high expectation but was severely disappointed with the mediocre service and most importantly the quality of food which was just sub standard. Its a complete rip off, considering the location and what they could potentially offer. There really isn't anything Chinese or Thai about this place! There are a lot of other places in the city with do justice to the type of cuisine and this is clearly not one of those.

Not much for vegetarians

Went there along with my husband, sister-in-law and niece for lunch. Husband ordered non-veg buffet and enjoyed the meal.. The three of us were left to wonder what to order because of lack of vegetarian items in the menu. They were sweet enough to prepare a veg thai green curry even though it was not in the menu. Overall, the place has quite good food but less option for vegetarian.

Kingly spread

26th January a perfect lazy day for a nice relaxed lunch. It’s been some time we have been hearing about this 3 kingdoms. Many times it has happened that we walk into a restaurant, its empty, and by the time we leave, the place would be full or overflowing. The same was the scene today, where we walked in to a relatively empty restaurant and it was overflowing by the time our bill came.
The restaurant was well arranged and seating is comfy. The buffet sounded like a limited edition with “lots of either / or conditions” with some limited options. So we opted to go thru the menu. I have to say exceptionally well thought out menu. The cuisines are very well selected from the three kingdoms of China, Thailand and Malay. Very impressive indeed!
We ordered for –
Tomato egg drop soup which tasted very good. But somewhere there was a ketchup kind of taste. But the biggest drawback was that the soup was just warm, not hot enough.
Beef satay – 6 pcs, good spicy, tasty ... Period.
Mee Goreng – pls note the ingredients mentioned in the menu is “only one and not all “, so pls be clear while placing order. May be its menu mistake.
Pine apple rice – superb and yummy. The dish was supposed to be served with either prawns or chicken, but we were served without either of them. After some corrections and rectifications the service recovery was done very well. The taste is extremely nice and its for people who don’t mind a little fruit taste with the rice.
Stir fried Lamp curry with garlic sauce – beautiful succulent pieces of lamp in beautiful sauce, best for rice. Yummmmmy is the best word.
Now coming to the best part – the desserts
Banana blossom cake and Carrot Coconut blossom cake – sincerely saying its one of the best desserts I have had in recent times. Another yummy!
Now few things apart from food.
When we normally have Chinese food in mainland china or wantons there is an after taste that remains. The food here didnot have it. In comparison to mainland china, the food is far more tastier, so a new option in comparison to mainland china.
Prices are decent enough for the indulgence.
Hope they maintain the quality through out. I have not tried any of the fried starters, especially the ones with the buffet, which my neighbouring table was indulging in with a diet coke! Cliché to the core!
Net rating would a 3.5 out of 5.

Interesting and Flavourful

We chanced upon 3 Kingdoms on Saturday Night, after growing a tired of a restaurant hunt that would be open post 9 pm but not be awfully crowded. We were well rewarded ,indeed :) The food was delicious, the portions generous and the staff attentive. We ordered a rice dish and a side dish to go with it. It was really flavourful and a treat to the senses. The staff could be trained though to speak a tad slowly and clearly, as one is unable to comprehend their accent.
The presentation of the food was pleasing and the ambience, subtle and nice unlike some of the newer in your face loud places launched in recent times. While ordering be cautious of the portions. The rice and side dish we ordered could have easily served three people or maybe even more. The soups are also a delight. In all an experience that I would recommend.
