Asli Punjabi Rasoi
They don't have proper restaurant styling neither did they completely go the road side Dhaba style. They were somewhere in between, I guess. They have decent seating in the open area with their tiny kitchen in the center. They had very few people on staff so we were mostly left to our own, unless we called for their attention.
Coming to the starters, we ordered Sweet corn soup for the corn lovers, tomato soup for the others.Veg manchurian, chilli paneer and masala papad to go with the soups. The starters tasted good, but the quantity was very less.It was almost like Gulliver viewing the Lilliputs.
For the main course, we ordered gravies, Dal Tadka - since this was most praised in the reviews,Bhindi Masala- we like Bhindi & wanted to taste it in Punjabi style, Sarason ka Saag - since it was so good in one certain Dhaba at mount road we thought of trying it again here and finally Paneer Butter Masala - because without this we vegetarians can never complete a meal. We ordered Kulcha,Naan and Roti to accompany them.
They only had Tandoor Roti, but as Tawa roti is our favourite so we were a little disappointed with that. Kulchas and Naans had their usual taste. Dal Tadka was the best among the gravies followed by Bhindi Masala and Paneer Butter Masala. But they messed up Sarason ka Saag. It had some weird taste and none of us could finish it.
A decent place for the price we pay but with increased quantity. I think it would be more welcoming.
No snazzy interiors, no darban at the entrance! This is a no nonsense restaurant! U are a person who is hungry and hasn't had a proper vegetarian north indian cuisine in a really long time .... loosen your belt and go to Asli Punjabi Rasoi (APR)!
A cozy & unbelievably affordable vegetarian ( they serve jain food too!!) outlet in Egmore ( right opp to Ethiraj college). They have the asli punjabi tadka to there cuisines .... believe me you wont find a better place in this category anywhere else in chennai.
