Lousy Service. All the staff have a bad attitude.
I was here for dinner with a few friends and the first thing I notice is the holier-than thou attitude of the wait staff. They act like you're basically ruining their free time by just being there. Requests for details on food listed in the menu are met with condescending stares and a non-chalant explanation. Most times the waiters mumble to themselves and are extremely rude when approached. I usually tip 10% every place I go, but I was appalled to find 7% tagged as "Service Charge" on the bill. Pardon me whoever owns this place, but if it were left to me, I wouldn't tip them a dime. The only redeeming thing about this place is their hookahs which are good, but they're walking a thin line with their reputation on pretty much everything else. NOT RECOMMENDED unless you want to feel like an unwelcome guest at a funeral. :D
Its really good..and delicious
One of the best place. When I first saw the menu card, I thought this place is expensive. However, after eating their food I understood that with the price came a brilliant taste and a whole lot of food. The glass walls with a descending flow set in a great mood. I have driven past this road a no. of times and never found a nice place to dine out. I mean a beachway to Pondicherry and all that you got was the same old Idlies and Dosas, but with Drizzle opening up, now I can enjoy fine thin base italian pizzas, they tasted italian and nothing like the multi joint Pizzerias. Plethora of spicy food, cold shake and comfy seating eased the appetite for good food and ambiance. Drizzle just didn't drizzle but showered fine food on us.
I'd been here 2 times. Din like it at all the first time but heard that they recently renovated it and hence gave a 2nd try a couple of weeks back. Its good now.
they have also included a arrangements for liquor and its great.
the food was good, hospitality was good too and the ambience was just great!
Its a different type of Theme Resturant, tho' they don't really call it a 'Theme resturant'!!
Too many cook spoil the broth
To start with Bad ambience, sofas were not comforting. When we saw the menu card itself it looked expensive than a five star restaurant. But we thought the variety of food and quality will change that, but we were proven wrong. The starter Bruchetta came , just onion and tomato cut on a fried bread, which i could get in a sandwich shop, but here it is rs 120/-, the orange and spinach soup tasted yuk, the pasta we got very not cooked properly, home cooked maggi pasta would be much more tastier. The four cheese pizza was a total disaster as it was a chappathi dough fried in oven. The north Indian food was too spicy. Overall a total waste of time and money. They could have concentrated on one cuisine and get that right, instead of trying every cuisine in the world and spoiling everything.
Finally, we were the only team having lunch and made bakras
Vegetarians: Don't even think of coming here.
Tasty food. Im satisfied !!!
Im basically a veggie.
* Tasty food & Good service.
* Starters were too good.
* Exterior of the hotel doesn't give you a positive impression, but ambiance inside is great.
* Not recommended for large groups.
Tastebuds differ with individuals ,but at the end of the day im satisfied !
Not Soo Good...........
We Guys went on a friday night for dinner....For sure the restaurant is mainly for couples as the atmosphere suits perfect for them....Very Slow Service ...And the Quantity of food is very less..Not worth the money..Food Tasted good...
Prices very high...so not advisable for team treats n Family gathering as it would leave ur purse empty..
As we sat n ate.. many people came saw the menu n just left off....even we thought of but wanted to give a try....
Perfect For Couples Not for Groups......
Drizzle not as bad as bad reviews
Ok, food came, long time coming but when there, not bad. Hummus and muthadela nice pita was like white bread but warm. Steak was nasty over done bad cut of god. Spuds were way over mashed to the point starch was broken down (too much mashing, easy to avoid), veg had way too much black pepper. Chicken stuffed with something was over seasoned with pepper and rosemary; the only thing close to cheese is the theme of the place.
They need to close down!
Had my worst experience going here! The food we ordered took about 45min to come. Your first impression on this place would be a "romantic outing" but your mistaken! Only the ambience is good! But there was no drizzle! Anyway getting back to food, we ordered a pasta which came about 45 min after we ordered and the bread came after about an hour. By then we almost finished eating the pasta, and it was just plain bread with some butter on it. It wasn't even toasted! The other dish which we ordered came after about an hour or so, and only half the dish came! Most of the ingredients the dish was supposed to contain just vanished! And the chicken was half cooked! There were hardly three families siting in there, but the service took so long! If you want to have a peaceful dinner with friends or your family don't go here! You'll just end up arguing with the cook or the waiter! If there was an option to give a negetive rating that would be my choice!
WORST PLACE! DONT EVEN THINK OF STEPPING IN!
excellent food Poor Management
Everything that we had ordered tasted delicious. Very exquisite Menu. (not the Menu Card)
The interior is simple and pleasant but needs to be smoothened
I would have rated the restaurant a "4 star" if it wasn't for the Slow service and poor Management(inappropriately dressed).
Holds Promise BUT needs a LOT of Improvement!
Poor location, decent interiors, slow service, promising food that needs improvement.
This is a review of our lunch dining experience @ Drizzle:
1. Hummos & Pita Bread
The Hummos was better than what is served in most places in Chennai. Azulia makes the best hummos in the city, but the one at Drizzle is certainly worth it. The Pita bread was fresh and very soft. Good stuff.
I was a little scared of ordering this but was pleasantly surprised. Tasted very nice. My only advice would be to cut it into smaller pieces instead of 2 large pieces of bread. Bruschetta is finger food, so it should be broken down into smaller portions instead of diners having to cut it themselves.
1. Pasta Arrabiata
My wife, who ordered this dish has the ability to eat an insane level of spice. Usually, spice levels that rate just right for her palette would be way too spicy for mine. But even she found this dish so overtly, repulsively spicy that she could not eat it. Arrabiatta sauce is supposed to be spicy, but in this case, the red chilli powder had not even mixed into the sauce right, and could be detected in its rough texture. I would suggest leaving the sauce alone, and offering chilli flakes on the side so diners can choose their spice levels.
2. German Potato Salad
It was decent but be warned that this is not a vegetarian dish. It is topped with shredded bits of bacon. If you want it vegetarian, make sure you specify when you order.
3. Filet Steak with Hummos
I cannot blame the chef entirely for the disaster that this dish was because he used Indian beef. Indian beef, let's just say isn't quite made for steak. There's no other way to grill it other than doing it well-done, which is perhaps why the waiter didn't bother asking me how I wanted it done. Even though it was well-done, it was still insanely tough. Thanks for the hummos it was served with, I was able to eat about half of it. The marination was very bland too, something that really needs to be worked on. It would be advisable for the beef to be marinated under refrigeration for between 24-36 hours so it can be served tender as well as well flavoured.
1. Apple/Orange Tart with cream and Kiwi fruit on the side
Decent. Not the best tart I've had but decent enough. It was served at room temperature. Would taste better if served hot.
The staff was certainly courteous but it is extremely important that the staff at any restaurant be knowledgeable about the food. If your staff members are not knowledgeable, they should be under strict instructions to refer queries to a higher level.
My wife ordered the Potato Salad. She is a vegetarian. When it was brought to the table, I suspected I saw bacon bits on it. Not faulting the chef, because that is how a true German Potato Salad is supposed to be served. My issue is that when we asked the waiter to clarify whether it was meat or something else, he specifically told us that it was not, and that the dish was certainly vegetarian. My wife had a spoonful, after which I stopped her and re-checked with the gentleman who initially took our order. He confirmed it was indeed bacon.
This could be a huge issue for more sensitive customers and the restaurant really needs to pay attention and educate their staff.
Speed of service is very slow. Slow service can only be overlooked if the food is fantastic beyond belief. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to serve a Bruschetta.
Also, it would advisable to carry a more presentable Menu book. A bunch of A4 print outs strung together looks cheap.
Location, Ambience & other matters
The restaurant is right on ECR, but does not have enough parking space. It was not an issue for us as we were the only diners during lunch, but I could imagine it could be a problem on a crowded evening.
While the interiors are simple and decent, the restaurant is acoustically poorly insulated, which means the traffic noise seeping in from outside is a bit of a mood killer. The tin roof has small holes and openings in it, which cheapens the otherwise decent interior design. I would hate to sit under the holes on a rainy day. The management shouldn't take the name of their restaurant so seriously.
This lunch for 2 cost us Rs. 1,850. It's not cheap. For this price you expect a lot more. I would say the restaurant holds promise and is on the right direction, but if it has to avoid fizzling out when it's just standing up, it needs to get its act together very, very fast and make a lot of improvements.
And by the way, contrary to belief, Drizzle does NOT serve any Mexican cuisine.
