Awesome Outlet near PHOENIX MARKET CITY

I discovered this place on my way to phoenix market city. Lovely ambience and great service. Excellent choice of cuisine. I love north Indian and continental and guess what, this place offers them both. I hate eating at the Mall for the crowd and I also find the food un-fresh and expensive. I had Pasta and my friend had a Meal which was very tasty. Will visit this place more often. Worth a visit for veggie lovers.

Consistently Delightful

I love this restaurant! While the restaurant's branch in Besant Nagar is a tad cramped, the one in Velachery is spacious, well planned and warmly lit. I eat here regularly and have never once had a disappointing experience. The staff are polite and efficient. The service is quick and clean.

Haven Sampoorna has a great menu! You can choose from a variety of cuisines and surprisingly, they are all equally good. You can rest assured that you will not get an "Indianized" Arrabiatta pasta. The "Roti with Dal and Gravy" combo is ideal if you are not hungry but "could eat". The dal and rotis taste like home-cooked fare! Yum.

"Pita pockets with tzatziki and hummus", while not on the menu (!), is a starter to die for. Do ask for it. The Schezwan fried rice here is better than the stuff that half the Chinese restaurants in the city serve. They claim to serve only freshly cooked food (no reheated food is served), and this is evident in the flavour of the soups. You actually get to taste the vegetables and the spices are not overwhelming either.

PAAN ICE-CREAM is a must have!! It is a paan-y, gulkand-y, creamy delight that leaves just the right taste in your mouth after a hearty meal. And you know what? It is extremely budget-friendly too! I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My Most Favorite Restaurant

Well, I am a regular since it was started some years ago. It was a small place with just 20 seats. From the inception till now one thing that has not changed is the great food and excellent service. I visit this place often and I admire the owner who always stays there to ensure that everything is in place. Unlike the others he does not ensure that other are aware of who he is, but keeps training his team how to do things. Though I have been coming here often I never cared to write in as I am not that kind. Today when I wanted to search for a new restaurant I came across a few and did visit one.Honestly it was no where near the experience I used to have at Haven. After my lunch I felt I must write in to ensure that others must also know about this place . I wish all those who wish to have a very good vegetarian food to give this place a try. Its really worth it. I wish the promoter of this place good luck and wish he opens more restaurants in town.

Unethical and Money Minded.

I happened to have my dinner in Haven Sampoorna, Velachery yesterday. I eat regularly since it's on the ground floor. Initially they were ethical and so was their service and food. Price is also worth the food they serve. I usually look for value for money when a dish is being served.
But, once they moved to the first floor, they seem more money-minded. Now-a-days they don't even ask or offer ordinary water and by default all tables have Bisleri water bottles. I was told that, this is what we give and we bill you for that water too and guess what, the actual Bisleri water (1 ltr) costs Rs.18 MRP but was billed for Rs.30+5 (tax). Questioning them, I got a reply that they have something called luxury tax (which I never heard of, BTW is drinking water become so luxurious?). I demanded that if something is billed as tax then the customer should be made aware of them explicitly mentioning the % of tax in the bill/invoice. He basically buys it for Rs 18 and sells for Rs.36 with no effort (Also, remember it is served mandatory by default). Still, he manages to say that its their business strategy. Is being so unethical is what he means as business strategy? I feel, what he has done is robbery and nothing more than that (Robbery is a business for looters, so if they mean this as business, then, what do I have to call them?).
I see that almost 95% educated high class people never bother to even look at the bills they have and that negligence is being exploited.
There is nothing inferior in being cautious. I urge everyone to please see the money you give is what you're really supposed to pay.
I am even considering legal proceedings, its not about money but about trust, ethics and loyalty. Lastly, being negligent is a crime that you do for yourself because you must have took pain to make that money but it is crime if you don't even care to know whether that money is utilized it truly for the pain you took. Instead save them and donate to an old age or orphanage which will at-least give you some Peace of mind.

Tasty But Costly

Taste was good. All over Velachery since there are not good veg restaurants this one tops the list because of its varieties, ambiance etc. However I felt it was a bit costly.

Bet On This Place Anytime !

This place never disappoints you. And you can easily boast about this place to anyone who is new to this city.

I have been visiting this place many times - I mean really many (how can one forget those days when it was a small joint and the service is real homely ). Last week took couple of people here and they are good with the food/location/interior.

Just the wash room disappointed. Every restaurant should learn that the cutlery, wash basin/room creates an impression as well. So, folks - watch out.

P.S - though, I don't want to complain about food, but think about a situation wherein the soup has been sent back twice - because first time it was cold, second time its warm. Who should be educated that 'soup should be served Hot' !!!

Finally, A True H(e)aven For Veggies!

I so wanted to visit this place for almost an year but never got a chance or the plans got crashed someway or the other. But last week I managed to make it to Haven for dinner with my fiancée.

We reached the restaurant at 6:30 pm but they do not open up until 7. We were received by Darryl who was to serve us for the day. He was quick enough to show us to the waiting area and served us some water. I wanted to place the orders so that we could start right away once they are open. He readily took the orders. We skipped the soups and went for the Mediterranean Grilled salad and Aloo Chutneywale for starters. For Main course we ordered the Veg Lasagna. We were shown our tables by 6:50 and Darryl started serving our items almost immediately. The ambiance of the place is great and the lighting was perfect for a peaceful dinner with a loved one ;)

The Mediterranean grilled salad had brocolli and other exotic veggies in pesto sauce. The veggies were fresh and the salad tasted awesome! Next was the aloo chutneywale which came with my favorite mint chutney. The baby potatoes were oven-cooked and marinated in mint flavor. The potatoes were baked to perfection and the mint chutney tasted delicious with the dish. We simply devoured the dish in a jiffy :D. The lasagna was next in line and it was awesome!! Crunchy on top and gooey inside, cooked to perfection and served hot. They had not made the desi version where it taste's spicy. It was the authentic version which is a little bland and we loved it! To finish off in style we ordered their famous signature dish - Paan ice-cream. How can I go to HS and not order this delicacy whom everyone has praised so much. The paan ice-cream was OUT OF THE WORLD! Pity, they gave only 2 scoops. The bill was slightly higher than I expected but it sounds reasonable for good food.

So my verdict is, the place was worth the wait and hype. And yeah we will be visiting them often!

Tastier Restaurant in Velachery

Two days ago I had been to T.Nagar for some personal work. My better half wished to lunch in Arusuvai Hotel . The promoter of the hotel is none other than late Arusuvai Natarajan a renowned chef for the marriage of VVIPs families in Tamil Nadu. As I had low appetite at that time, I told her " Let us lunch in Velachery" I took her
to Haven Sampoorna. Though little bit costlier, we were very much delighted. The ambiance of the hotel was good. Dishes served were delicious. The waiters were kind
enough.

Must visit

OMG! One of the best resto's in Chennai of late. Their service is worht the mention and they believe in customer satisfaction!
Their starters are good (Jalapeno Cheese Balls are Yummy) , Mango Lassi is definitely worth the mention. Good spread of Cuisines and again, Excellent service, kids get separate plastic spoons and fork for their food which makes the parents job easier!

Good food but service deteriorates during peak

Have been here 3 times now. Two times when the restaurent was full ie.. Weekend Lunch. They really struggle to serve. Last time they forgot to give Soup, Papad and Pulao when I ordered Haven Thali. Other customers also had issues when their orders were messed up.

Quality of food is very good. Probably they urgently need a floor manager. Hope owner is reading this. Else they would quickly loose out among numerous restaurents that have come in Velachery Bypass Road

Wow u said what we want - short and sweet. Please dine @ Haven very often :).........

Its all about the taste

Nestled in an inconspicuous building with a minmalist sign bord in Haven Sampoorna. As you are speeding past velachery Road, you can easily miss out this restaurant because of the above reasons. However when you do manage to find it and decide to go in you will not be disappointed. A moderately sized , neatly kept restaurant. The menu is purely veg and truly multicuisine. Ranging from bisibela baath to spaghetti agli olio there are a myraid choices to pick from. We opted for an oriental starter and one from the tandoori platter namely the sultan shekh kabab. Both the starters were cooked to perfection with the required spice and flavour. For the main course i went in for the Haven thali which is adequate for a hearty lunch meal. My friends ordered kulchas, naan and subzi and all dishes turned out to be good. just simple homely food with no pretense fringes.
A nice place to go for lunch or dinner if it involves a group of eclectic people with varying taste buds :)

Awesome food !!!

We just went to Haven to try something new and the experience had been truly fulfilling. From then on Haven has become our favourite. Everytime we try some new dish (Italian / North Indian / Thaali) and it is awesome.. You can blindly choose anything and trust it to be good. Very reasonable price, good service too. I love the paan icecream here..

Good Food..Nice Place

Food was very good on the stomach and tasty. Ambience was good to have a delightful meal. The service was cordial. Overall a good place to dine. A very good vegetarian place found in Velachery. I recommend this hotel to people who like good food and like a decent dining expereince. One suggestion I have for them is to increase the quanitity, to make it sufficient for a hearty meal and also because the price is slightly higher compared to their competitiors.

Otherwise it is a very good dine out.

Bad Service & Management

Food & Everything was good, once upon a time. Now everything has gone for toss here.

The management and the service is REALLY BAD. I was sitting here for over 2hrs for food. And I ended up getting stale food.

I had ordered Aloo-Paratha, which came to me almost uncooked. The chole batoora which i had ordered, was served with stale CHOLE!! Then I ordered PULAV, which came to my table after 1.5hrs of waiting.

And the management was not considerate on this. The place is simply crowded with horrible service. And they treat customers with no respect.

Good Food

Hi .. Been a regular visitor right from the days they were a small restraunt. Very charming staff and good food. However missing some of the combos they used to have in their old place which they have removed from the menu (the methi paneer paratha and phulka combos specifically).

Also prices have been increased for the same dish in a different name.

But taste continues to be awesome..

Heaven at Haven

Well I was surprised to see this tiny joint expanded into a 60 seater fine dining. Lots of new dishes added to their menu. Must try Rasagullaki subzi and Kofta plus a few tandoori starters which were awesome. Also their pasta mama rosa was brilliant. very nice interiors and vouch for the food which was excellent. Only suggestion is that the serving time can be more quicker. This is my second favorite restaurant in Chennai.

Good food for the entire family

We had been to dinner here as a family and had a very nice experience. There was variety for all the different tastes (salads/south indian/ chinese) and all the items were pretty good. The service was fast as well.

A few items were not available on the day we went and that did dim my experience a bit.

Wonderful Food with Great Veg Variety

Me and my family are a gregular here as we live in Velachery. Initially we were taken aback when we saw the small place but when the food had arrived we then decided this is the place where we want to come for years. We visit atleast once a month or two so that we don;t loose out on our continental appetite. I also heard that they are expanding which is very good for all of us at Velachery. The best place in town for the Veggie with many a variety. The one I like the most is you get South Indian/North India and Continental what a place.

Need more quantity for the price they charged

Me and husband visited y'day for dinner..They are offering Good and healthy food . Not that much costly, but quantity is very low. I like very much. We tried Starters, Thali, Chola Battura and Paan ice cream. Thali is very nice. Starters need some more quantity while compare with their price. Anyway feels good, will recommend friends, at-least for their PAAN ICE CREAM (first time i am tasting this type ice cream).Awsome..

not so good

I read about it long back in Femina, since then I wanted to try it. And though it is very near to our home, I got to check it yesterday only.

This is a small cafe with multicuisine..literally..Almost everything was listed in the menu. We tried garden sandwiches, hara bhara kabab and knock out.

Garden sandwiches were ok, should have been grilled a little more.
hara bhara kabab was very good and so was the chatney .green one.
Knock out was perfect..and in good quantity too, it was two icecreams with nuts and fruits..tinned fruits were good, though they should have added some more nuts...but it was yummy.

Seating arrangement is ok,what I didnt like was that there were mosquitoes, I am totally allergic to them. Secondly the person who was taking orders was very shabbily dressed and a sloppy one, in this area smart boys or girls are more tuned. They dont provide cutlery .neither with kabab nor sandwiches..it is uncomfortable to eat like that..And since it is a small place, its very awkward to see the server standing nearby or looking at you.

Prices are on the upside for some items, wheres moderate for others.

H(e)aven on Earth

Appearences are deceptive. The place is small and barely has 8 tables and 4 chairs each. It is a vegetarian paradise. The menu is huge ranging from casual bites/ italian/mediterranean/chinese/ northindian/ southindian/ mocktails and deserts.

The staff / waiters are courteous and explain things beautifully and make sure you get the right picture about what they give.

We ordered aloo paratha and fried rice and paneer butter masala. the waiter was cautious and polite enough to tell me that paratha perse comes with its own subji and it is adequate and i need not order it separately. Now how many hotels do that ? How many hotels fool customers and make them spend more money?. Impressive........

Despite it, i ordered PBM separately. now inbetween i had second thoughts after seeing a couple seated before me getting panner subji for paratha and thought of cancelling PBM. I was astounded to get Dhal Makhani as subji for my paratha and PBM separately. The waiter ( mr.Sanju) was thoughtful enough to tell the chef that i had already ordered a paneer subji and to give me something else for the paratha........... I was very happy as the dhal makhani was out of the world in taste !!

The PBM /Friedrice were also awesome in taste and garnishing. So was the gobi manchurian. A special mention about the mocktails......given in sugar rimmed glass, the mojito nwas great and on par with what they serve in KFC.

On the whole the restaurant is the place to visit if you are in chennai......near velachery. .......It is definitelyy one of the restaurants where you can come back smiling and happy

Ratings : 25 out of 5 ( 500%)

Will definitely visit again and again..........'

You guys rock !!

One small suggestion: There are a few items like Chilli platter available only on weekdays as mentioned in your menu, if you can make it available on weekends too, it would b beneficial for those like me who can come only on weekends

Family is a regular for 6 months!!

To all the vegetarians who have a little hard time making healthy continental, Indian, Indo-Chinese, Chats etc. all at home, can try here..
Whenever we have to eat, whether lunch or dinner, first thing that comes to our mind is Haven, so we drop by as we know whenever we come by the food quality will be the same, you can make ask what's in the order and make alterations/additions as per your choice, not too spicy nor too mild, staff courtesy is good, is close to the major Velachery residential areas,

As they are in process of a new building, we may enjoy bigger space soon, but overall my family from Delhi has even liked the simplicity of the food here like home cooked..esp our favorite Noodles, Pastas, Burgers, Mocktails, Ice Creams, and Chole Bhatura!!!

Keep up the quality as it is :)..

my first trip a few months back to this restaurant based on burrp reviews was vindicated by really good food. but when i went yesterday i found everything changed. the A/C was not working. the chinese/japanese looking waiter was not able to understand any english nor could he explain about any items.

he brought mushroom fried rice even before starters and salads.

the grilled mediterranean salad was having only cucumber slices with one or two peices of brocolli.. there was no other vegetables nor was it grilled. they charged 100 rs for it. added to to woes was some tastless dressing.

the mocktail i ordered was just synthetic syrup even though when i enquired about it they denied they are using any synthetic or rasna type syrup.

the mush roon fried rice was having ,too much chilly or chilly sauce that burned our tongues.

last but not the least the methi parotta was very hard and leathery.i have not seen like this before.

i have practically said good bye to the restaurant when i came out after paying rs 418 for 4 items.

but not before writing the same comments in their sugestion slip.

Visited again and its good

well, I used to visit this place once a while and liked the food. I recently visited the place and was surprised to find the new menu with some new additions on salad and mocktails, I like the thali here and had gone for it. The thal was good as ever and I had it . I wish to get back here someother time and try the new salads and mocktails. Keep the good work going folks. Heard they are expanding. Will I be invited for the inauguration ?

GOOD FOOD

Well, I have been a regular to this joint since they opened last year. I have been tasting their food from the very beginning. Initially they offered less choice but now they are offering lots of choices. Also, I can vouch for the consistency of the offerings here. I find the place very neat and tidy every time I visit . I wish to convey to the management that they must try and get some special items for weekends and for special days.
I am a regular and will remain so. I am sure the management will do something about my request. I heard the other day that shortly they are expanding. I am sure its required. I wish team haven great times.

Cheers!!!!

Worst Food and Bad Service

Worst Foods than anywhere else in Chennai city.

Reading all the positive reviews posted by some of the burrp users, I went with my family for lunch.

We asked for the north-Indian thali and they replied saying that they have only one thali which is their speciality.

We were 5 of us and we ordered 5 thali's as they said 1 thali is sufficient only for 1 person.

Very much disappointed with the size of their thali which cost me almost Rs. 100 each.

And the taste of the dishes were very much ordinary and size of the roti they gave was too small.

I'm a Jain and I have experienced tasting all kinds of Veg dishes in speciality restaurants in Chennai.

But never come across such a worst taste of Veg Foods and that too over hyped with many positive reviews.

Coming to the service, its ridiculous.

No proper responses from any of the staff members.

I find a lady and a middle aged guy in the counter discussing about something very seriously.

We were restless and tried to move out of this place quickly as possible.

Nothing Special

Nothing special about this place's food.

Most of the pastas in the menu are not available.

The order takers are too slow and have the language problem as well.

The sandwiches and the burgers are not to the global standards.

The portions are really really very less.

They have the accompaniments in small and regular portions.

The portions they serve can be had only by the kids below 5 or 6 years. Thats really bad.

Also the taste doesnt seems to be extra ordinary.

An average quality foods and worst service overall.

This one is HEAVEN

I was out there with my cousins last week. Being a vegeterian, ul have evrything that u'd wish for and the thing which amuses me is that they serve everything in the menu. The place is quite cramped but still the food, ambience and the service nullifies it totally. A very good place to hang out with your frens! Prices are also not too high! They are really nominal. So if u are a vegeterian, it is a MUST TRY...

Good Vegetarian Outlet

well, I happen to visit this place yesterday . I read all the reviews about it in burrp and as the number of reviews were high and positive, thought will give it a shot. I traveled quiet a distance to reach this place with my 2 other friend. I guess its worth it. I had to wait for a while before we all got a table. The restaurant is small hence it looks cramped. We ordered starters, pastas and some north Indian dishes. I would say all were good and no complaints on the food or service. The waiters don't understand English but thats ok. I guess I will come as and when possible. I liked the music too.

Wonderful place to visit

I have been here so often that i don't prefer going elsewhere.I make it a point i visit here every fortnight on a saturday with my wife and i do travel 10 kms to dine at your place. So travelling that far is tough but worth the visit.Great food, good people and i keep saying the quality of the array of dishes you have is worth mentioning.
Chilli platter in the starter section is too good.Nothing more to write about Paan icecream (so unique in its taste and really worth having it everytime).
one suggestion might be the quantity of dishes given might be increased slightly.
I heard through your people that you are expanding. It would be great if you share with us when you are doing it and when it will be open for us.any plans of buffet coming up.

I visited your restaurant a few days back. The ambience was good, and located at a prime location. However my dining experience was okay.
1. The service was quick. The price was average.
2. The soup consistency has to be more thicker and it should taste like soup
3. The curd did not taste like curd. More varieties expected. For Veg, this is a decent restaurant.

Awesome ''Packed Meal Combo'' served at my office.

Well, I happened to taste Haven's food at my office (they had ordered packed lunches from the restaurant for a conference for about 50 of us). The food taste was very delicious and authentic. The packing was neat and quantity also very filling . (aloo parata, jeerarice, dalfry, subzi, pickle, curd rice and a sweet). The sweet ' wheat halwa' was the best and I have not eaten that before. It was economically priced too (120rs.). I have given 4 stars and may decide on giving 5 stars after i visit this place once.

Some excellent food indeed; be it continental, north indian or south indian. service is very good. the menu is tastefully designed. Don't forget to try the paan ice cream, paratha combos and salads.

Best place to give a treat! best for the purse too

I chose this place from burrp to give a treat to my office collegues. 10 of us went and had an awesome spread for just rs. 2000(we are all foodies). We started with a yummy tomato cellary soup, variety of starters, combination of Pastas, baked dishes and north indian, chinese for the main course and ended with gulab jamun and flavoured kulfis for desserts. Service was good too. Only thing that could have been better was the seating, as the restaurant is small. I recommend this place but do make a booking before you go.

Surely a nice outlet!

value for money and great food.

Well, I visited this place after seeing reviews on burrp. Cute little place (seating can be better though!). But, awesome food compensates all. I had a special thali (for 130 rs. i had a starter, jaljeera, soup, thalimeals and icecream) and my wife had a veg biriyani which was excellent too. There was quiet a choice on the menu and we are sure to be frequenting this place. There could have been more choices on the sweets as well. Suggest that this place is a must try for veggie lovers.

Nice continental food.

I visited this place after coming to know about this place from burrp. The place is small but the ambience and music is very good. I had a saute Veg pasta and liked it very much. My friend tried a delux thali and mentioned that it was very tasty and authentically north indian (after giving up hopes on eating north indian thali in southern part of india). The paan icecream was very tasty too. The only confusing thing about this place is whether it is self-service or not. To sum it up, great food, good service in a small place.
To the owner: You have nice spread on the continental menu, pls introduce more north indian a la carte dishes on your menu.

Thank you for the good feedback. We are encouraged to do better and we will try to make your every visit special.

Just the start-errrssss

After reading a lot of reviews about this place, decided to try this place for lunch last Thursday. Since my office is at velachery, I did not have difficulties in finding the place. After parking the bike, the security asked me to wash my hands in a wash basin outsite the restaurant which looked very much like a local restaurant. Got into the place and it looked very normal, with chairs and tables what you see on a normal food court. The first look on this place and you will know its not a fine dining restaurant. It can seat upto 30 people I guess and there was one person serving all the tables who was later joined by another person. There were around 10-12 people when I went there. Service was prompt, but that person spoke hindi, I would always prefer english or tamil.

Let me come back to food. They have an elaborate menu from South Indian, North Indian, Continental and almost everything you can think vegetarian. For starters we ordered for the starter of the day a kabab and then we ordered for two Thali's. After ordering, I went through the menu again and saw that the thali had a couple of fulkas, sabji, dal, rice etc which is a very normal food. So we changed our order to two pastas instead of thalis and waited for it to arrive.

First came the kabab which was awesome. I won't rate that as the best kabab I have ever had, but this was very good. We finished it very soon and was waiting for our main course to arrive. First came the alfredo pasta which I ordered and I was very disappointed looking at the quantity. I would be full only if I have twice the portion of it. It tasted very ordinary and did not live upto the expectation created by the kabab, but still it was eatable. Then came the pasta my friend ordered, one taste of it and his face changed, too curious, I took a spoon and believe me people, that was the worst pasta I have ever had. It was like pasta boiled and put in a bowl of sambar. My friend was eating it like there was no other go and I decided to take his burden by giving my pasta which was almost 3/4th over and took his pasta. He ordered for thali and decided not to touch the pasta he ordered.

Thali had three fulkas, sabjis, rice, pappu, curd, rasam, payasam and few other dishes. I guess it was okay, just okay. I think the quantity will be okay only for people who eat less or order more. Since we had a bad experience, we decided not to order more and even skip the dessert which I haven't done in a while.

The kabab was priced at 60, pastas were 115 each and thali was 80 I believe. It is not overpriced, but the quantity should be filling which is not the case now.

Overall I did not have a good experience there, I probably might have had if I have sticked to their Indian dishes alone, but I suggest them to get their global dishes right. I may visit the place again, not for their "Global" dishes, but for kababs and Indian dishes alone. One consoling factor was that I did not try their lasagna, coz I might have started hating Garfield then.

Awesome Food!! Avoid Home delivery!!

What do you do when you are really really really hungry and want to eat some really good food.. well.... you search Burrp!!!! :)

So that's what we did too and found that Sampoorna is highly recommended by a lot of poeple and not too far from our place in Velacherry (vandikaran street)

So we called Sampoorna, ordered some yummy food and we asked for home delivery.

The wonderful person on the other end of the phone was very nice and said we should get order in 30 mins. Instead we waited for about an hour for the food to come.

I wonder why would it take 1 hour to deliver at an address that is right behind the restaurant. I'd say max 15 -20 mins considering all external factors

We called Sampoorna and enquired about when can we expect our delivery. The delivery person reached our place after 5 - 10 mins. Nice and Polite guy, i pay him and get ready to eat!! (i was completely famished by now!!!).

With the mouth-watering aroma filling the room, we opened the parcel. And what we see... IT WAS THE WRONG ORDER!!!!!! The ultimate sin in the world of home delivery!!!

Of-course it was not the poor delivery boy's fault, some dimwit in the kitchen had switched the bills.

We called Sampoorna and complained about the mishap! We were told that we should get the correct order in about 20 mins, much to our surprise the delivery boy was at our door within 5 mins, apologizing profusely!!!

All said and done, the food was amazingly yummy. The only reason i am rating this as "4-Good" is purely because of the quality of the food!!

I will definitely eat with Sampoorna again, but maybe wont do a home delivery :):)

over hyped, mediocre food

After seeing the glowing reviews I decided to checkout this small joint yesterday. I had two items from the menu
- Kathi roll
- Channa Bhatura

First Kathi Roll:
Complete disappointment. Hallmark of a good vegetarian Kathi roll is a freshly made, flaky "bread" in which again a freshly made with a right mixture of soft paneer, spices and crunchy vegetable filling is placed.
Sampoorna fails to deliver on all counts in its preparation of the Kathi Roll. The "bread" seemed to have been microwaved. It was chewy and I could taste the dough. The filling - don't even get me started - it was sweet !. The chutneys that came with were also flat.

Channa Bhatura:
Here too, Sampoorna fails to deliver. The Channa was ok. Ideally I would have liked it to be the black channa for a more authentic feel but Garbanzo is good too. Sampoorna fails in terms of quantity of Channa that is given with the Bhatura. Another unpleasant surprise was the other side dishes described in the menu for the Channa Bhatura - Paneer and Chilli. Initially I thought they forgot about Paneer and Chilli. Then I saw a small (size of couple of peas) piece of Paneer hiding in the corner. Bhatura was an absolute disaster. Again, Sampoorna makes a mess from dough perspective. The Bhatura tasted like rubber. The puffed top was good but the meaty bottom layer was rubbery.

Positives: the place is neat and clean. Service prompt.

Aglio..............really delicious!

Well, I do not remember full name of this pasta dish i had last week. It was made with out the standard white or tomato sauce. I liked it a lot. They have introduced lot of new items since my last visit. Other continental dish i had also gets full marks! (it was bread with corn tossed in a red sauce.....yummy......)! Next time I am going to try their thali meals as I saw a bunch of corporate executives having that and mentioning that they simply love their thali meals ...(oops, small place so one can overhear such conversations despite the mild lovely western music being played)!

good place a little small but very cool quotes and menu.thali was hopeless and the quantity of noodles very less.please work on it .

My First Visit

I went to this restaurant today. Even though the restaurant is small , the ambience is good. They didn't have most of the items from the menu for eg: hara bara kabab. The best part was the vegetable rice, biryani stuff were made available only after 3 pm.They can work on providing them during lunch time . We were disappointed on this.I had asked for masala papad...instead got a masala papaddam.....whew.... never expected that this would happen... we finally had to jot down on North Indian Thali. The Aloo sabzi , Dal and phulka were just too good. The Kesari sweet had pepper on it which I personally didn't like. On the whole, the food is Ok.

Innovation as USP

Been there a couple of times with different set of people. Both the times, it turned out to be a good experience. Today, we were a group of five people. We tried continental and other items too. I would say their Conti is best. There was a blinking LED bulb in our mocktails which was a very funny experience. Finally, we were bowled over by Paan Icecream which they themselves suggested - an icecream which tasted like sweet paan. Excellent.

I feel that they are very innovative and that's their USP - be it seating arrangement in such a small place, menu setting, taste, interiors, etc. Pricing is also very reasonable considering the portions.

Sampoorna - Great job. Keep up the good work.

Well this time i visited with my friends (a birthday treat) and the best part of the visit is though 15 of us went in ,we managed to finish in one hour and fifteen minutes. Yes!though each one of us ordered different items like thali, biriyani, poori, pastas etc.... the service was swift. I did see some new continental dishes and few other items added on their menu as well since my last visit. Sampoorna special icecream was yummy! Well,Once i was passing thru this place and entered as i was hungry and wanted to fix a quick meal for myself. The ambience was great and felt as if i was inside a restaurant in los angeles.(lots of hollywood starts photos and good western music was played). Neat Veggie Place

Location :
A bit hard to find if you dont look closely,Ample of parking place though.

Food:
Real good food, best pasta i have had in a real long time, their kati rolls are perfect(a lil expensive according to me ..costs 70/-). No compromise on the taste though..
They are a true multi-cuisine restaurant.
Too bad, all the chat items are available only after 6

Ambiance:
I am basically a foodie, as long as the place is clean and the food is neatly presented, i dont worry too much about the paint on the wall or the right lighting effects ..This place is like a small cafe ... so dont expect much on Ambiance.

I am definitely going back ..to try their chats at the very least !

ghar ka khanna, ek dham!

well, i was initially hesitant to step in to this place as it looked too small, but once i entered, i was taken a back. cute interior and cleaniness (despite being such a small place). i especially liked the hollywood stars photos around the seating area and i chose to sit near george clooney's photo (my favourite star).i started with fried baby corn (yummy) and ordered for a thali meals. this was very very delicious and tasted like my mom's food. for the price(rs.80) i got food which was just too much to finish. they serve 3fulkas, one dhal, one side dish, papad, rice, rasam, pickle and sweet (the wheat halwa was delicious) and looks like i will come to eat just thali meals to this place often.(till now, the place i frequent for such meal is in parrys). additional points for serving too quickly.(may be because when i went the place was only half full). i shall write a follow up review (that is why i have not given 5 stars)after my second visit to check for consistency, other items etc... BUT I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE A MUST TRY FOR THALI MEALS . (Available only in the afternoons).

The best veg restaurant in this part of the town

I have been eating at Sampoorna since inauguration... and been noticing that they constantly keep adding to the menu..the recent ones, baby corn fry and corn on toast are yummy.
I asked them why the place is small, the owner told me that they are experimenting with the format to get all factors right, before they expand.. and that they plan to make the place bigger shortly.
On the whole, it is a satisfying experience every time and there is something interesting for everybody in the family.
Good show!

Superb Choice!

I visited this place after reading reviews (mind you, all the way from annanagar) and i discovered a place that i would visit often. Thanks to the fellow burrpers. Firstly, i liked the spread on the menu (northindian, chinese and continental ) which pleased everyone in my family. I would give excellent rating for the food, ambience for a small joint and the service(though it is semi-service/self -service). Of the few items i had, a must try in this place are
1.. Thali meals
2.. fried babycorn
3..pasta Arabiata
4..Corn & Spinach Lassagne.
5..paan icecream.

HI

May be when you come in next time, would appreciate if you could say a hi to us as I feel thanking you in person is a must.I am very happy you liked our spread and food. Bon Appetit.

SO HERE IT IS...

Ok, i m just finished with the matka kulfi..

Here's the review...

We reached the place at 7.25, we re back home at 9.00 pm sharp, our travelling time being 10 mins. Why am i mentioning this? i will let u know..

Place/Ambience:
Small, 7 tables in all, not very spaced apart. That is, if you're finished, wait for the guy at the back to finish also, before you get up, same time. Neat place, 2A/Cs and 2 fans, and 4 poster frames of hollywood stars.

Serving/Response time:

1 waiter(forgot to ask his name)/cleaner/server, all-in-all
He forgot the veg noodles&manchurian my hubby asked for, finally bringing it after 25 mins, and after 4 reminders.
Otherwise very polite, though not helpful with explaining the dishes. U have to speak to him in Hindi.

The Food:

We started with tomato soup-Rs.60(only other choice being sweet corn)
Me had Pasta Arabiatta(Rs.115), and daughter had bhelpuri(Rs.40). Now, i have never tasted Pasta A before, so its taste was sort of weird to my tongue. It was reddish orange in colour, though it tasted healthy, u know what i mean.. After a few spoons, it actually tasted good. The quantity was in inverse proportion to the price, though. But it was enough for a poor eater like me. The bhelpuri which i tasted, was yummy. Now i have eaten this stuff from many places before, and i can say that this bhelpuri was one of the better ones.
The noodles(Rs.80), after it arrived very late, though, was almost perfect. The manchurian(Rs.30) that went with it, also was okay. Now the time was almost 8.30, good 1 hour after we placed our first order. We decided for 2 matka kulfis(Rs.50 each), and 1 Arabian Delite(RS.75)-(vanilla ic, with dates, nuts etc), to wind up our simple dinner.
The AD arrived, looking delighful enough for my lil daughter, but the matka kulfis didnt. I told hubby, maybe they re preparing fresh, maybe they dont keep it in deep freeze... he he he...!!
Then they arrived, very deeply frozen, maybe since the ice ages..
Whatever, i tried my best to break the first layer of the frozen matka, without looking embarassed. After successfully having a few spoonfuls, i decided to get it packed, to take home.
The all-in-all told me, it could be done, and i thought, it would be packed neatly and given to me. But no, i was given a polythene cover(a big one, for the small pot), and told to take it in the cover. Okay...
So we spent about 500 for the 3 of us, and about 90 mins, for this simple meal. And, apart from the menu card, there are some dishes for the day which are announced only at the counter, thru a measly card perched there. I could find an oothappam written tonite. Next time round, i ll try that menu card also

Now, the scores:
PROS: Neat ambience, healthy tasting food, wont burn your intestine. Really good parathas. Easy parking space, place being located at the end of bye-pass road. Also, since only 7 families can dine at a time, so maybe only around 7 cars will be parked outside, what say..?
CONS: Place sort of cramped, so noisy when full. Music is a turn off, with all that noise. Very slow service, prices a bit on the higher side, and.. and
The Matka..! I finally ate the Kulfi...!! It actually really thawed... and i ate it. It tasted like rasmalai frozen... Anyway, i did eat it..wow..!
CHEERS!!!

HI Anu,

At the outset I thank you for having taken the time to write your mind and we appreciate it. You are right - at times during weekends we do delay a bit as we have decided - come what may always to prepare food as when we get the order and deliver the same to our customers. We just don't prepare food and give it up fast to our customers. This way the food is less greasy and more healthy. The pasta we use is imported from Italy and hence ..........We will definitely pull all stops to ensure that we find some ways to beat the few f

GOING 2NITE...

Hey! I ve been to this place sometime back.. Came back satisfied, but didnt think of writing a review. Bumped into burrp..! now, and was reminded of our last(first!) visit there. So i thought we ll visit this place again 2nite, and write a review.

I can remember having had some paratha, which was too good, and a sandwich, which was just raw veggies between 2 huge slices of ordinary bread, nothing else.. It was difficult for me eat, so i just ate 1 bread slice, the veggies raw, and then the 2nd slice, in that order. My daughter had some cream pasta, which i tasted, it was excellent.
Another thing i remember, was getting an easy parking space.

So Sampoorna, i m coming.. watch out...!!

Healthy-Delectable Food Par-Excellance

Pros: A vivid vegetarian restaurant replenished with the magnificence of nourishing delicacies bathed in the HEALTH pool; served steaming hot with a glorious splendor defines for an mental ambience of contentment. I would dine in Sampoorna often. I just love the Int'l & Nat'l assortments.

Cons: Priced slightly on the higher side. Lacking space and gives a cramped feel.

But Hey! Satisfaction Guaranteed.

great food nice place

well I have been going here regularly and had told the guys there about the lack of more tables. To my surprise I was called a few days ago and was told that they have revamped the place, I visited the place and was surprised by what I saw. The place looks cute and neat. They have also added some new combos and new items. I happen to have their salads and sandwiches. I really enjoyed the food , the courteous service and above all the spic and span place. I am sure they will be running out of space in no time.

Bad Expereince

Last time me and my friends been to Sampoorna Global Restaurant and it was the worse experience ever. The place is too small for a peaceful dinner or lunch. You can't even stretch your legs. Kitchen is small and probably thats the reason they serve juiced which are made in the morning at a stretch. The Roti dhal plate I had there was decent quantity but rotis were not properly roasted...

On the menu they have mentioned sandwiches but have not written if its a toast sandwich. .they have not mentioned about the extra cost for extra cheese option.. and trust me I literary puked after eating the sandwich.. This place is NOT Recommended..

Bad Experience..

satisfactory

After reading the reviews for this place i was eager to visit this joint.......due to heavy work i had to skip my lunch and landed to this place at 5 in the evening......there was no one to even bother to guide us with a menu card and i had to walk and ask for one.......as mentioned by previous reviewers i wanted to try some dosa's but they those were not available and the only thing that was available was just salads and chats.....i was totally disappointed since i was dame hungry..........that's when i decided never to go by anyone's reviews.......i finally was forced to order something to fill my stomach...so ordered dokla which was weekend special.....when i ordered dokla the person was having a blank face and said it was only available on weekends!!!!i was shocked to hear that since it was a saturday.....then they had to verify with the chef and finally i got the dish................the place was good and the dishes were OK not bad but if they take some steps to improve the customer service it would be good............

Yummy food...

The place has one of the yummiest food collection in velachery...their pastas are awesome so is their small bites.

Their juices though left a lot to be desired...need 2 more visits to experience their spread. For a small shop their menu is amazing, the turn around time too is pretty less and the prices nominal, compared to Flemingo which charges 80 rs for a dosa.

As said by the other reviewer, the biggest drawback is the small space, surely not a family restaurant, mor for the singles and takeaway crowd.Still it is worth it, hope they grow bigger[in space and not in cost of food items :)].

Good Food,Small Place

i visited this place 2 weeks ago. what i liked about the place is the food but what i did not like is the fact that it is a small place. this time i tried some diet pasta from their menu (to keep away from my hubby's warning eyes)and it was yummy too. must visit for veg lovers but watch out for youmay not get perfect seating.

A cute effort - worth a visit

menus with pictutres, each item associated with a waiting timing, low calorie food, nice interior design are some of the things that you will find appealing here.

The menu offers a lot of variety but a few choices though. 3 types of salad, 4 types of sandwich, The thali priced at 70 is excellent. When home delivered, it is nicely packed as well.

This restaurant is surely worth a visit.

Excellent Restaurant Experience!!!

We enjoyed a Thali, A Veggie Burger+Tandoori Nuggets and Hot filter Coffee.
Thali - Excellent experience.
A Veggie Burger + Tandoori Nuggets - Enjoyed it very much.Better than most Fast Food Joints.
Coffee - A pleasant Surprise..I asked for Coffee - It was served along with few Snack bits (Namkeen) on the side (exactly the way I drink coffee). I did not see this format any where else.Coffee was excellent - A true Madras Coffee.
What We liked about the restaurant was it had a nice ambience; it was set up with a fast food atmosphere and it was very clean and cozy.Turn around time from order was pretty quick.
Wishing the Managers all the success the Restaurant deserves.

Best vegetarian spread in Velachery

Sampoorna has filled the long felt need for a premium vegetarian restaurant in Velachery. I went with my family and we found there was something to interest everybody, even for the dieters. The kids were happy to have their own menu.
The price was moderate. The place is small, but the chef told me they will plan the expansion once things settle down.
Overall a satisfying experience

Yummy Food-This place Rocks

I had been to this recently opened restaurant a couple of times and i must admit that the taste of the food was excellent. I loved their bruschetto and their pastas and their salad bar. The ambience was good and the price was very very reasonable and the service delivery was quick. I suggest this place is a must try for italian, northindian & diet food lovers. I suggest they start working on an expansion plan because with this space, they may not be able to cater to a crowd that might want to queue in for a delicious treat! Good luck to the owners!
