Egmore- Not Working
Guys, went all the way to Pasta Bar Egmore today and they say "It is closed" :(
A public annoucement would help.

Our restaurant in Egmore was temporarily closed on 16th May due to air conditioning issues in the Mall. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Look forward to your continuous visit.
Neat and Delicious
The place is tucked away in Also Mall. The decor of the place totally differs from that of the mall. It is clean and the seating is really good. The service is very good and so is perfect place for a relaxed conversation. The prices are really affordable. We tried to Pizza Arrabiata and the Chicken Lasagna. Both were very good. We also tried out the Barbecue Chicken and Chicken Salami pizza. The Pizza was small but cannot expect much more for the price. The salami pizza was good but the Barbecue chicken was a little average. Will definitely be going back again and again for sure. Highly recommended.

Best on the block!
The first time I came to Pasta Bar Veneto several years ago, I thought it was a fluke that I got such excellent food and service. So I came again. And again. And again. And it's always been the same! The price is reasonable, the staff are super friendly and courteous (a huge plus in my book), and the food is delicious and authentic! The aglio olio is my favorite- and just about everything you order is heavenly and cooked to perfection! The drinks and desserts are also quite delicious. Definitely come here if you're planning a dinner out with friends. Pasta Bar Veneto is awesome!

Not worth the hype and too expensive
Pasta bar veneto opened with a lot of good reviews and fanfare
However every visit of mine, turns out to be a disappointment
Prices are inflated and really not worth the quantity and quality of the food
Service is good and acceptable, but you dont find anything that screams premium or fine dining except for the prices
Could definitely improve and maybe slash the prices too

Dear Mr. Murali
Thank you for being a regular customer to our restaurant and also for taking time to review it. We are sorry that you wee disappointed. We serve many customers each day and strive to satisfy their needs and requirements. Sometimes i am afraid we fail. We prepare our food with the best ingredients and try very hard not to compromise them. The last time prices were raised in our restaurant was over 8 months back and also we are clear that we aren't a fine dining restaurant. Our prices for Pastas range from Rs. 165/- to Rs. 245
Nothing great !
Located in the posh Alsa Mall, this restaurant is not high on taste nor the varieties. When you go through the menu card and ask for few different sounding dishes, you might have to settle for a disappointing NO.The service is quicker but beware when you order dishes with eggplant as an extra ingredient as you may not find the other promised main ingredients of the dish
Pasta Bar Venetto
One of the better Italian joints in town. Pasta Bar is one of my all time favourite places to eat. I love the food there and the mocktails are also extremely tasty. The deserts are to die for, even if you don't have a main, try to get a bite of all the 7 odd deserts that are available. You will thank me for this! The ambiance is okay, nothing spectacular, music is awesome though. Service is quick and nice. Slightly higher on the price range but the tasty food kind of makes up for it.
good place for pastas
The restaurant at Alsa Mall is spacious and parking will not be a problem. It is situated on the first floor of the mall. It has an extensive menu offering pizzas, pastas and beverage options. the ambiance and atmosphere is great . The pricing is on the moderate to high side but the quality and portions are reasonable for that price. Started with cheese garlic bread and for the main course we ordered fish and lamb pizza. both were quite good. Finally ended the meal with tiramisu. The food was good as usual but i loved the dessert and service.
Good food but expensive
Located on Alsa mall , this is a wonderful place for a nice lasagne & dessert in the evening time
They have delicious lip smacking sandwiches , lasagnes and a good variety of deserts..Though i'd prefer the T.Nagar branch anyday than the Egmore one.. Find it almost empty everytime i go there.
They definitely have so much to improve though..
I Want More!!!
Mmmmmmm, mamma mia, I love pasta, in all shapes and sizes. I can never get enough of it at home because I dont cook, so I perpetually crave pasta. The Pasta Bar Veneto satisfied that craving when I went there last.
Venetos style is unique because its not too classy a place to go where you need to dress nice and ask about wine, but its not a fast food joint either. The chalkboard at the entrance makes a chic first impression and the décor takes you out of Chennai.
The food is great, but in comes in smallish portions. What is with Chennai restaurants and their small portions? The service on the night I went was disappointing; I had to keep reminding the waiters about chilli flakes for my pizza.
Nice pastas and pizzas.. What they need to improve on is their beverages. most of it has water in excess than cream/milk. For Desserts we ordered the cheese cake that was way too sweet. What was good was the Verdure pizza.. it was served piping hot . So were the pastas we ordered. Nice service, fantastic ambiance and the pricing is perfect.. Would love to go once again.

Thanks for your valuable feedback. Glad to know that you enjoyed our food and ambiance. As per your feedback we will surely improve on our beverages. Look forward for your continuous visits.
Good as usual
The restaurant at Alsa Mall is less spacious when compared to the one at T. Nagar but the ambiance and atmosphere is great as that of the other. Started with cheese garlic bread and for the main course we ordered BBq and lamb bolognese. Finally ended the meal with Chocolate mousse. The food was good as usual but i loved the dessert and lamb bolognese.

The Pasta Bar Veneto - The True Italian Food
It is my all time favorite place.. I always love the food here especially the Bolognese Chicken and Calzone pizza which are really delicious.. The hospitality is excellent with a friendly service... This place is not a favorite for me alone but for all my friends.... We always love to have food and spend time at The pasta Bar Veneto... A great place to keep visiting...
Whatever happened to the food from Venice
After the Christmas pantomime at the Egmore museum theatre pasta bar seemed to me and my friends the most convenient option to have some filling pasta. I thought of starting off with a creamy chicken soup and Marconi chicken pasta as a treat for my languid self. Well, the annoying part was, by the time my creamy soup came my belly was half full with water that I kept sipping to appease my hunger whilst waiting for half an hour. The soup was watery and bland. My clumsy friend tipped his glass and water was all over the table. The waiter cleaned the table but thought convenient to leave the floor untouched. The pasta followed after what seemed to me ages by which I was too displeased to eat. The pasta was cooked well but it lacked flavor and the chicken ham stood out for the most part. I suppose they make pasta from scratch to take that long and to give me something so shoddy.
The place is dingy with only five-six tables and an exuding menu with a plethora of facts and fiction. The waiters gave us a mocking look as my friend struggled to pronounce but didn't think it professional enough to help us out.
By the time we left it was more than two hours of good time wasted, all of us unsatisfied and vowing never to return. The water on the floor left to dry on its own had become a dirty pool of slush drawing pictures of unhappy customers.
Okay, This is one place everyone should definitely go!
They have nice varieties.. The lasagne was superb. Also the garlic bread they serve was jus perfect.
The best part were for me the deserts. We ordered blueberry cheesecake and yummm. Period.
All in all, Nice and quiet place for a hangout or date...
Very Good Italian-ish Cuisines
Place is a little small, but they serve some very good cuisines (though they are not 100% Italian). Do try their Calzone pizza and the Lime Mint cooler (my favs). Their sandwiches are also very good (esp the Tuna salad sandwich). The pastas are a bit of a letdown. The ambiance is very good and the hospitality is high-class. The waiters are very very polite. Pricing is not that bad. All in all, if u want to spend a good time with ur friends or ur family this is a place to visit for sure.
Not real Italian
The one in T.nagar has the entirely different taste of pastas.
I tried their Bolognese(Lamb). It was only quarter cooked and with odd smell as well.
Lasanga Di Pollo was below average taste.
I've tried many Italian Cuisine across the globe. But this place serves the worst Italian ever.
Light and Dark totally enlightened me!
I had tried The Pasta Bar Veneto once at T Nagar and wasnt very satisfied with the experience. However, after reading all the wonderful reviews on burrp I decided to give it another try. This time, I checked out their outlet at Egmore and the experience was very satisfying, to say the least!
I had the Maccheroni di Pollo alla Pugliese which was super delicious..I really liked the flavour of the sun dried tomatoes and the creaminess of the dish. The Green Apple Soda was good too but what made me go bonkers over this place was a dessert called Light and Dark. Its a combination of chocolate and vanilla cheese cake with chocolate syrup. Sounds rather ordinary but it was not just good, it was fab! Every time Im here, Im going to ask for this special dessert of theirs which is not in the menu.
My friends liked everything they had and so did I. I especially liked the vegetarian pizza Diavolo- definitely the best vegetarian pizza Ive ever had.
All in all, a great experience! Finally, an Italian joint that I can frequent without damaging my wallet.
My friend and I ordered for Sesame Chicken and Cheese Jalepenos both the starters was nice and crispy outside and juicy inside. On checking with the chef he explained, the Jalepenos were finely chopped and along with cheese it gives spiciness and has the flavor of Jalepenos. On the main course had Quattro Formaggi with spaghetti with extra chicken. Man it was so cheese I am sure I gain a kilo or 2.
The Salami chicken pizza was yummy and the base tasted good. All in all they have not Indianized the food and not made all the things cheesy. The drinks were hmmmmmm :-( as it tasted too sweet . The best part is whether I go to Egmore or T. Nagar surprisingly the food tastes the same.
will think twice before relying on burrp's ratings
The first thought that came to my mind when I ate the food here was that "why the hell did these guys name their restaurant pasta bar when they cant get it right". Its a clear case of misbranding..
For starters, we ordered cheese stuffed jalapenos...We were eagerly expecting large juicy jalapenos but what we finally got were 5 measly fritters with cheese...Jalapenos were invisible..
We thought of giving the place another chance by ordering something from their self-proclaimed-forte..Thought that we couldnt go wrong with pasta...but wait..WE DID !! Ordered penne in white sauce and asked the waiter to 'make the pasta cheesy'..little did we realize that requesting the pasta to be made cheesy was charged as "extra cheese"...Wouldnt have minded paying for the extra cheese if there was any...but there was none..I wonder what they would have brought the pasta in, had we not asked for it to be 'cheesy'....may be water??
The only saving grace was the service, which did not disappoint but too sad, service alone does not fill the tummy..
I dont understand how this place has got such good rating at Burrp. That makes me think twice before venturing out to try new restaurants solely on burrp's reviews...A big thumbs down!!
At last a good italiano in t nagar
I heard of this place form ahah fm and was planning for a few days to go there at last I happened to visit the pasta bar veneto last night with my family. Went to burkit road branch the restaurant is tucked away in the back it was a pleasure and a surprise to see a very European styled restaurant in the heart of t. nagar. I was well greeted by the manager. Being vegetarian I was a bit reluctant but they seem to have a good choice of vegetarian spread. The manager suggested nice vegetarian pasta, the one that i remember is Primavera Al Panna and also couple of other dishes, we also had egg less tiramisu, all at decent price. The ambience was really good and the staff's were polite and nice.
I love this place! I've been here just once... but my gawd, the food is totally lip-smacking! I can't remember the names of the dishes but, I had the grill chicken and a lasagna... which were very tasty. Ended it with their 'Berry and Wine Mousse' which was oh-so-freakin'-heavenly'!!
The bill came to a decent amount... so all in all, had a satisfying time there!
Oh plus, the ambiance and the music are Awesome!
Friday evening, amongst light drizzle,I was starving and having heard lots about the place on radio and burrp, went with high hopes.Very very disappointing location for an Italian food joint.Really,VERY. It wasnt a very good experience,so dont have much to say really. And it was made even more crushing by the other customers in there.Sad to say,but people are SUPER-LOUD and spoil the whole ambiance of the place.Seriously, the management should actually exercise their "rights to admission reserved" rule. Here's the break-up,in case you're planning a visit:
Ambiance : 2
Pricing: not worth the money spent
Crowd chattering away at supersonic levels: -10
Good things come in small packages!
Was my 1st visit to the pasta bar veneto with friends for dinner, its a cosy lil place with some really great music - which I felt really matched our food in someway and made the experience really pleasant! :)
So well about food now:
The Anti-pasti [starters] - The starters were recommended to us, but they turned out just ok..nothing very impressive.
The Main course, we ordered a Pasta, a pizza and a baked dish, and all of them were delicious and the quantity also satisfying. The taste the flavor all tasted authentic and not indianised italian - which is a rare find! And like i said before the music really complimented the food! The service was good, and the food did not take too long to arrive either. We ordered the Mud pie and Mango cheesecake for desserts and they did not disappoint us either, although the quantity could be improved a bit :)
The price is decent and not too overboard, a meal for 4 cost us around 1400/-, which was not bad considering we had good food and a good time! :)
All in all it was a great find and an enjoyable experience, I look fwd to going there again. Cheers!
What better way to chill out after a long day at work than by relaxing at an uber cool pasta bar - one of the latest additions to the slew of italian joints that hit the city. What i loved about the place was the genuine friendliness and sincerity displayed by the staff at the joint. Donny -- who waited on our table was bang on in suggesting some of the joint's specials.. I absolutely loved the Lasagne de pollo and the mojito. Another mst try was the delicious Berry n wine mousse. Yummm.. Its a must try for all the foodies out there!
We were just enoying the sandwiches at fountain plaza and thats when this hoarding caught our view.. Our first impression was that this place will definitely create a big hole in the wallet.. But it turned out to be completely false. The ambience and the menu rocks.. ( The menu has some facts about Italy and some interesting details ) Starters were really mouth watering.. Luckily we went on a Monday afternoon.. Not much crowd there and the owner of the restaurant was very kind. He kept checking with us if we have any issues and how the food was.. Main course was equally great. The best part was they didnt kill it by blending the indian flavours. On the whole gud place for pasta n lasagne lovers..
Will revisit once they settle down..
I work in the same vicinty and the restaurant signage has been up for a while now. So when it opened about 2 weeks back- me and a couple of colleagues stopped over for lunch on a friday. When we reached the place was full but the owner told us we would get a table in 10 minutes- so we could order and once we get our table they'd serve us right away. Well- for starters 10 mintues eventually stretched up to 40 minutes! And thats crazy on a working day.
It appeared that the servers were really confused and I spotted them take wrong orders to a table or the same orders twice.
Well- like I said before- they were really new-- so will not be too judgemental on the service.
As for the food- it was ok- nothing too great and the portion size was nothing to shout about. There seems to be a fair amount of choice although we almost skipped an entire section on the menu as the menu pages were jumbled and the 'dessert & beverages'were in the middle of the menu before pastas.
The ambience is good- cosy and done up tastefully, although if you plan to go in a big group you may have to split into smaller groups on different tables.
I will definitely visit the place again-- the people running it do have a passion and there is a focus on all the right things. So I hope to write a better review soon.
