A simple cafe

Sometimes I feel a bit uncomfortable about gurgaon’s modernization. Maybe that’s because usually when I think about gurgaon a picture of high rise buildings, high end expensive restaurants, flaunting lifestyle, high class corporate culture comes in my mind. And then there is a place called Roots, Café in the park. It’s a place with such simplicity or should I say modern simplicity. It’s so loved that u will usually find it crowded.
Located in Rajiv Gandhi renewal Energy Park, one can easily miss this place.Surrounded by a huge green area with an amusement park for kids, the café’s structure is made of wood, bamboo and other recycled material. There is an outdoor and indoor sitting without air conditioning, but there are huge noiseless desert coolers which I think are quite effective in summers the area is covered with wooden chicks as there isn’t a door. The furniture is all wooden and there is plenty of sunlight. Small lamps give a dim lit atmosphere after sun goes down. All in all a very soothing ambiance.
The menu book is very simple and beautiful, with mostly breakfast and snack items. You can also see a few main course dishes as well which are mostly Indian. I don’t have much to talk about the taste of the food as our group just came here from a good hearty meal from a restaurant nearby. Unlike other places you have to write the order in a piece of paper and give it to the server. We ordered a few Masala Teas and French Press Coffee with Wai Wai bhelpuri, yes you read it right, and it was the Wai Wai bhelpuri. It was delicious, not very spicy and perfectly spiced made with uncooked wai wai noodles. The masala tea was excellent too.
The pricing is stupendously economical. The cost of tea 40 INR and the coffee 70 INR. The Wai Wai bhel was priced at 80 INR. The servers were not very intrusive in a good way but were well groomed and attentive.
Roots café I suppose is not about food but is surely gives a comfort level which is uniquely different than other places in a flashy bustling city of gurgaon. I thank my friend to introduce me to this place and will surely return to enjoy a full fledged meal
