Give it a try
I visited Martins when it was not even this famous but unfortunately the quality of this place has gone down.
where they used to serve good food at good quantity now they serve ok food with very less quantity and its very dissapointing to see such a famous goan restaurant loose its charm.
the price is a lil more for the quantity you get
We had been to Martin’s Corner on a Saturday afternoon in August. We entered at around 12.30 pm and immediately got a table. We realized how lucky we were as we later saw quite a lot of people (locals and tourists alike) waiting for long hours to get a table.
Between the two of us, we had fish chilly, goan sausages chilly fry, Chicken masala fry (goan style) along with a pitcher of beer. Each of the preparation was tasty with the meat cooked to perfection and generous portion size for two very hungry stomachs. Service can be a tad slow considering the place is always full.
That particular day, there was a live performance by a Saxophonist, Mr. Aggy Santana. Some people couldn't contain their joy and started dancing to the melody. He truly made our visit all the more memorable. What fun!!
Fantastic food and lovely live music!! Just this one trip to Martin’s corner made our entire trip to Goa worth the effort. After 4 hrs of eating, drinking, singing, chatting, we got a bill for 1200 bucks!! A total bang for the buck.
We plan to come back again to Martin’s Corner with a bunch of friends (foodies) to try out a lot more of the variety of the offerings in the menu.
P.S.: Visit this place in a group and If you have 5-7 people, go for the Seafood platter which has crabs, lobster, prawns, fish, calamari, etc.
If in Goa then Martin's the place to be
I first tried Martin's Corner 10 years ago. And even today as I eat at at this happening place it took me back to the wonderful time I had a decade ago. The food is awesome yes especially the sea food. The ambience is lively and the service is friendly. I luvd the squid masala (careful it is really spicy) but super yummy. Yeah overall I'm definitely returning the next time I'm in Goa.
I just recently went to goa and this place was highly recommended by friends. I went for lunch on the day of my departure and simply loved the food..the best butter garlic prawns i hve tried so far in goa...surmai fish curry rice was outstanding..The staff was very attentive..I again went to take parcel on the same day evening to take it to mumbai and ordered for prawn curry rice..The aroma filled the car entirely and cudnt really wait till i reached home to eat the entire thing...I reached again in the evening at 7:30 pm to take parcel and the place was already packed with a long wait line..
Martin's is one place that is referred by all tourist guides and local friends as well. We visited this place with family and ordered all fish varieties that each member loved. Surmai fry was my order - a chunky big slice came my way and I loved every bit of it. Crabs, prawn fry, pomfret curry with rice too are a must try. The wait time was a wee bit long but it was worth the wait.
A great place for Friends and Family
As a Goan, I visited Martin's Corner first the first time last week and I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere oozed with the Goan spirit and the music is like a cherry on the cake. The food is delicious, especially for those who are seafood lovers. Thumbs up for the local cuisine served at Martin Corner.
We were staying in the South Goa area and decided to visit Martins corner based on a friends recommendation.
It was a nice place open air kinda restaurant where you can just relax with friends and family. Good food good music. Must try for the local Goan cuisine here.
We tried everything from the papad stuffed with prawns to shark ambotik which was all very delicious along with masala fried calamari but didn't find the butter garlic king fish much to our liking. The cocktails were a lil too strong. The desserts were pretty good. Their apple pie was pretty delicious.
Service was pretty decent but food takes awhile to come esp when they place is filled with people. Dinner is a better time to go as its much cooler here.
Good food but poor staff
Went to this place as we had hrd so much abt it. But i thnk it ws a let down fr us. The staff was very arrogant. They were nt attending to the guests and we had to follow up fr everything. They shud nt take us fr granted just bcos its a popular place and a good brand.
Great Ambience and a must visit
If you had the choice of visiting just one restaurant whilst in Goa, make it this one. Very inexpensive (around Rs160 each dish) but really good food. We visited twice and enjoyed the food and the ambience a lot. The place was packed and we booked via the hotel and had a table waiting - be sure to book irrespective of he day of the week.
Part of the Essential Goa Experience
I've lived in Goa for 2 years, and been visiting it on and off for another eight, but I'm still yet to come across a restaurant that can measure up to Martin's.
The food is superb.
The ambiance is relaxed, open, casual.
The service is decent.
The entertainment is pretty good - last time we had a live singer / one-man/band who was NOT irritating or interfering, and was actually pretty talented.
But even after all this, there's something about Martin's that sets it apart - hard to describe, you have to go there, but Martin's is part of the the classic Goan experience. It's not a beach shack, it's not a restaurant, it's not a bar... but it somehow combines the best qualities of all three.
Our Something Different
Goa is full of seafood joints...all serving equally yummy food. But we needed something different and luckily spotted this place down the lane. We ordered Chinese and were in for a surprise...a pleasant one indeed! The service was great and fast, the staff is friendly.....don't need to say anything about the food..it meets goan standards..for that something different in goa besides the local food..you HAVE to try this out!
