Very bad experience with their car parking guys

I visited this hotel on Sunday, 7th Dec. at their Banjara Hills. They are so careless and reckless on car parking. I had given my new VW Jetta car for parking and they have intentionally broken side view mirror and hided to me when they brought after lunch. They promised to get this replaced but when i gave the bill they are now playing thiir cheap tactics to repay. Please be careful when you give your car. I asked them whether they will take responsibility before parking otherwise i will park myself. They intentionally committed to take care of my car. Very bad experience with behaviour of these folks. I am trying to speak to their in charge to sort out the issue.

Yummy South Indian...

A nice place for a hearty breakfast or a lovely brunch especially on weekends when you are too tired of eating at home or in the office cafeteria you might have to wait for a seat depending on the time of the day but the wait is worth 100% for the awesome food you get to taste don't forget to order the following babai idli - served with two lumps of fresh unsalted butter and not for the calorie conscious / Guntur Idli - served with a topping of gun powder and pure ghee (hot)/four uthappams - four small utthappams with a unique topping each/70MM Dosa - need I say more about this huge dosa/upma pessarattu- awesome combination of upma inside a green lentil dosa/steam dosa - specially for the calorie conscious special batter and made with 0% oil completely cooked on steam and served with a sweet jaggery dip.all the above can be enjoyed with 6 types of chutneys and a piping hot cup of sambar, overall its a veggie heaven and a lovely place for a brunch, there is also a chutneys south indian thali which is worth a try

Chutneys and more chutneys

I am an Andhrite and my breakfast at home ranges from boring upma to idli, vada, dosa, puri, pesarattu, various kinds of vadas, uttappam etc etc. Most of these dishes are accompanied by one variety of chutney, if possible sambhar and some kind of spicy powders.

But Chutneys restaurant spoils me by providing atleast 4-5 chutneys for a single variety of breakfast item. I love it. I am the only one in my family who never eats upma at home but does not hesitate to have it from Chutyneys. :D Be it in the form of plain upma or poori upma or pesarattu upma. All these dishes accompanied by upma are simple delicious.

Then comes the dosa. My all time favorite. I can have anything from butter dosa, paper dosa, plain dosa, the variants like baby-corn masala dosa, all are sumptuous. And of course the chutneys, groundnut, roasted chickpeas, coconut, ginger...oh how much I am craving for it now.

The place is a little expensive but if one wants to savor the south Indian breakfast items, then price should really not matter

Good for office lunches

The newly opened Chutneys in Inorbit mall is a huge restaurant. It is of the size of a big banquet hall and gives an intimidating impressing the moment one enters. There is also a good waiting lounge inside the restaurant.

I and my colleague went there for a quick lunch and ordered thaali hoping it would appear faster. It appeared but after lot of request and with a waiting period of almost 30 minutes. Don’t know whether it is one of case or not, but a thaali should be the fastest item.

Anyway, the taste of the thaali is pretty good and also the portions are more than sufficient.

Chutneys Hitec City

In short - good food, pathetic service in busy time, rude and complacent staff.

This is famous restaurant opened this new branch few months back. The food is quite good and consistent in taste.I have been visiting there Jubilee hills branch for many years and when I compare that with this one there is huge difference. In Jubilee hills branch the staff is very humble and pleasant, the food I always found hot and never ever found any issues in getting extra puri which is served with south indian thali. However in Hitec city branch its totally opposite, staff is rude and they gives an impression that by serving you food they are doing some sort of obligation to you. Many a times I found the curries not hot, on inquiring got the answer it is hot only! Couple of occasions when I asked for some extra puri the answer was it is not allowed, however at some other occasion I got it,but for that I had to wait for more than 10 mins!
Last time when I visited there it was rush time , I had to wait for 15 mins which is acceptable. When my chance came I order south indian thali, after 15 mins the guy told me its over and I can go with north indian thali. I agreed for that, but to my surprise, after another 20 mins that guy told me that is also over. When I called the manager and asked him why they were playing around with me he said we cant help it! if you want to order something else you can or leave!!! What arrogance. What else I could say and write here!

Nice One

If you want to try something different then its surely a place for you. But you have to endure the 30 mins waiting period also. Their dosa is good but the taste of sambar is quite different out here as compared to what I use to eat in the North. But you'll get lot of good flavoured chutneys with it. My most favorite here is the North Indian thali. It's a perfect one actually. Guys please do not order chhola bhatura here... you should understand that we are in South.. :P

Greedy Staff and Pathetic Service.

Me and my friend ordered for a Steam Dosa and a Mushroom Dosa, both the dosas were served with the gap of 15 minutes one after another.

FOOD: The Chutneys were missing the regular flavor and it was not that good. Sambar was just BAD .................
SERVICE : No one to see if water was being refilled. They were in such a hurry to finish with our table that the finger bowl was served before we could even finish our meal. The staff was greedy and was looking if we could TIP him more.

If I am paying 135 Rs for a Dosa, they better train their ignorant and uneducated staff to cater to people who are paying such a high price for their dosa which available in 50 Rs in a mall.

Amazing place for veg food

It has been a nice experience visiting chutney’s panjagutta, it is has been the favorite place for the veg food from many years. Once you cross the hurdles of traffic and the tension in parking the ambiance inside is quite familiar and friendly. We four of us have visited this place and all of us had different food to order
all of us had different food to order, all of us were satisfied by the food they have offered. If one is found of having the Andhra food there is no place like chutney’s and when it come to hygiene factors we can be rest assured by the standards they maintain..

Decent restaurant

For quite some time, after heard much about it, I was planning to be there. I made my first visit a month back with my friends landed on the sofa which is very comfortable. As per the ambiance it was fine. Being a weekend the place was crowded, just that we did not have to wait. hahha. The place where we got to sit was just next to stairs we fill little bit uncomfortable, fortunately the next table is vacated and we occupied it.
Our order included starters, soups, spring roll, , veg kolhapuri and naans. Two among us ordered south thali which was pretty decent one, served in a fully loaded thali. I liked the puris served, alongside in a basket, in the form of half-moon shapes. We had a good lavish dinner...

Overrated but decent fare

Chutneys is hyped as THE place for Andhra cuisine. I thought they failed miserably. We ordered the Andhra thali and found the food comparable to local vendors. The idli was really good but you don't have to be a genius to cook idli. The staff was shabby and it was clear that this place is not supposed to be a "fine-dining experience". I was disappointed and hence the average rating.

Must say THE best idlis in town with variety of chutney's. Its a shame they dont have rava idli as it is my fav but i guess dat can be ignored as the variety in dosas are also good.

This place is simply the best in south Indian food that Hyderabad had to offer. I have been here many times and probably tried everything on the menu. It is one of those places where whatever they make is a hit.

Whether it is the Guntur Idli, MLA Pesaratu Dosa, Palak Dosa or even the Chinese fare, everything is fabulous. The assortment of chutneys and well made sambhar always put a smile on my face. Do try the sweet chutney - it is irresistible.

The ambiance is fine and it feels like a place that wants to welcome you back. Do not miss this place for anything. Full marks.

Served stale curry

My workplace was quite close to this place hence my daily lunch was at chutneys. One fine day me and my gang visited this place and ordered masala dosa and puris. My friend got some curry along with the puri and when she tasted it was stale. We called back the waiter and said that the curry was stale and was shocked with his reply " ok madam I will get you today's curry ".We charged him for serving old curry or leftover of the earlier day. Being a regular customer didn't quite expect this kinda service from such a reputed name. Have recently visited the kukatpally (JNTU ) branch which was quite nicely done but the crowd and the waiting period is repelling. It took me one hour waiting period before I could enter. Suggest them to put more sitting arrangement as their is such a long waiting queue in the kukatpally branch.

Overall, a very good sumptuous meal. I infact skipped dinner that night. The food really tasty, chutneys finger licking good. I dont like their Sambar one bit though! They can do much better than what they currently serve. But again, who needs Sambar when you have such good Chutneys.

If your hungry for some South-Indian Tiffins, Chutneys is the place to be. Its a wee bit expensive, but serves good vegetarian food.

Very Nice

Was in Hyderabad for almost a day. Landed at the airport pretty early in the morning and wanted some hot Andhra Breakfast before getting to work and Chutney's was the place recommended by more than one person. As soon as I entered, I was shown to table and my order was taken. I was told to watch out for the "Chutneys" and they were the first thing to be served. This is the best thing about this place, a choice of 4 different deliciouschutneys and in an unlimited quantity. If not for anything, you should go to savour them and they go best with the most blandest of dishes, the humble Idli. So go to Chutneys for the Chutneys and you can pretty much give the Sambar a miss, I wonder where they get that recipe from. I did not like it. Next time I'm in Hyderabad, this will definitely be a place I visit.

Share:

good array for dosas

...and of course - chutneys :) a nice place to go with family, especially if you are a veggie. the service is quick, the place is clean and well maintained. but if you go on a weekend, be ready to wait for your turn to be seated. the pudina dosa is awesome, the paneer tikka dosa not so much. the south indian thali is quite average.

Costly

Hi,

I found the food Good if not exceptional. But most importantly due to its brand name, there is too much rush on weekends & you have to wait endlessly.

Also I found the prices exorbitant. 60 bucks for a idli plate. Just too much. Also I tried their steam dosa which is very famous. Its turned out to be a steamed Uttapam. Tasty but again not great.

So overall experience:

Food wise: Good
Prices: very High

Great comfort food and coffee

Been here twice in recent weeks - once for Sunday brunch and once for weekday lunch.

Sunday brunch is a great hangover cure. Great selection of south Indian tiffin delicacies. The idlis were a bit flat (could be more fluffy), but otherwise great idli and dosa varieties overall. And, of course, lots of different chutney. Stay away from the garlic dosa - a friend ordered it for some reason, and they spread SO MUCH garlic on it that for a while nothing else could be smelt. Top off the meal with the south indian filter coffee, which has just a perfect blend of milk and sugar.

For weekday lunch we had the thali. The selection of dishes is great. Start with poori and then lots of rice, both with plenty of sides. And two sweets. The only downside was slow service. Waiters did not seem to pay attention and offer refills pro-actively.

i go to chutneys primarily for these three items.. they are yumm!!! their food on the whole is quite good... north indian and chinese are pretty good.... one should go there for their south indian and more specifically the three dishes mentioned above... their juices are exorbitantly priced... their coffee good, their fresh lime pathetic... go there the weekends and u might just be asked to leave as soon as finish eating because of the huge crowds that await them outside!

Good for Meals,especially South Indian

If you are a south Indian food lover and are seriously in need of south indian meal, visit Chutneys without thinking twice. Meals come for Rs.130 but you get everything. Your tummy and heart will be full when you leave. It is not boring how many times you visit. I have been there 3 to 4 times.

I suggest you not to go for anything other than meals because it is costly though quality may be good.

This restuarant will be crowded during weekends and you will be asked to wait for your turn. Plan accordingly.

Over rated restaurant

Had heard a lot about chutneys, one of the finest restaurants. The only Good thing in Chutneys is the collection of the 6 chutneys you get particularly the pure cocunut one and the sambhar.
Other than that north indian food, lassi , mango shakes (made of essence) costing 60 Rs are a disappointing fare.
Only recommended for Breakfast idli, dosa and the kind.
Don't go for main course food.
The babai idly is a good option

WTF!!!! Never think of chutneys.

Seriously what the fuck?!!! My best advice never ever think of going this to this restaurant. We ordered for one soup, one starter, 2 pulkas + gravy and lime soda. The bill was 850/- .

* We couldn't find corn or sweetness in sweet corn soup

* Pulkas as so dry like a roti refrigerated for a week and the gravy tasted like a mustered oil syrup.

* I literally wanted to get rid of that pathetic taste so ordered for sweet lime juice, I got it with just lime with no sugar. When i asked the waiter he asked me to stir once more and drink.

* The service so damn fucking pathetic, i was sitting on the one end of the table the waiter just place the food on the other end and dint bother to server the food. I had to get up go to the other end and take the food. The worst thing was the bill and the waiting time.

I have never tasted and experienced such a worst hell in any of the restaurants in my life. Please don't burn your money.

Excellent Buffet for Vegetarians

We live in Hyd for past 2 years, starting from the day one I never get bored of this place. Quality of each and every food items served in buffet makes me to visit this place again and again. Especially love the North Indian curries, Veg pulav, sweets, south Indian menus....all of it.
Cons:
1) I feel they can maintain the place a bit (feeling like the place is getting OLD)
2) Service was excellent 2 years back, but now I can see most of new faces and service is declining...

Share:

Expensive

The first thing that I noticed of this place was a notice stuck outside the restaurant. It was the financial statement of the restaurant. Roughly 25 lakhs is what I saw. Now, was that yearly or monthly? I don't remember.
Just as you enter, you have a lobby. Then the waiter guides you to the table of your choice. I went there for breakfast. So there was less crowd. OK. Now, lets see the menu. Puri 80Rs. OK. Idlee 40 bucks. Dosa 75 bucks. It went on and on. Apart from the sky high price the other thing which was different here was the number of chutneys that they had. No wonder the name of the restuarant is Chutneys. They had white, yellow, orange, green and what not chutneys. All of them were good. The place is well illuminated and well decorated. But for me 80 bucks for a plate of puri is too much.

A unique experience

I am from Bangalore and have travelled often to Hyd for business. I discovered Chutneys around a year or so back, when I asked the ca driver who picked me at the airport to suggest a place for break fast. And what a place it turned out to be

being a lover of the good old South Indian tiffin which was popularised by the Udupi hoteliers, I was happy to discover a novel way to prepare the same dishes viz. the Idli and sambar.

Every item put up on the table ( save the water) is a novel experience. The chutneys are blissful. A variety of tastes hit the mouth and make you wonder how they would taste with a dosa ( which is what I tried nxt). They serve sambar in a unque way - where each waiter has his own plastic container - so you get to see the sambar - smelling lovely and steaming hot. It does wonders to your appetite in the morning :-). I have tried the entire menu and I can say that you try anything and it will either be extra -odinarily good or better than most places where you eat that particular item

But if I have to pick out the best in the menu they would be the Babai Idli, the MLA Pesarattu and the Chiranjeevi Dosa. Go for them - fat chance you will get them anywhere else in a big city.

This is a restaurant where you eat, enjoy and pay up without bothering what the price tag is - because it was worth the money you paid

good food:) bad prices :(

No complaints about the food, it is what it is good veg food. However the prices are something that you can complain about, it's way too expensive and a breakfast for two with juice can run you 300+. Which seems a lot to pay for something that cost them 10 in raw food.

Must for south Indian food lovers especially!!

The Best part of the meal here is what its own name says "Chutneys" 6 of them .One of it is a pure coconut chutney and the others are dal-based chutney, tomato chutney and ginger chutney. I just love the plain white chutney made out of nothing but sweet Coconut, and a lil bit of salt to taste!

The sambar they serve you here is perfectly blend and yet it?s not thick. The taste, am damn sure, cannot be achieved by any of the Badshah, 555 or Everest Masalas. They serve water in copper glasses and food is served on the plantain leaf Wow!

They serve a variety of south Indian items and other multi cuisine too. Of the many items a must try is the Babai idli, which is hot soft and fluffy steamed idli with a scoop of butter. One of the items, which will immediately capture your attention is the Four Uthapam (Mango Utappam, Onion Utappam, Pudina Utappam and Karam Utappam).Other than their specialties, they also have dosas with different vegetarian fillings, be it mushroom, paneer or baby corn. Their steamed dosa is also just yummy. It is prepared sans oil.Mind you, Zero oil! This item was optimised to suit the likes and taste of the film star Chiranjeevi and cooked the Japanese way.If you're a lil adventurous try the MLA Pesaraattu (It's Upma within a Dosa). The 70mm dosa here is a huge size dosa which may be difficult for a single person to complete. The Dahi Wadas too are of special mention and worth a try.As far as the beverages are concerned, you should try the buttermilk here which is made to perfection. They also have fresh juices on offer .The South Indian Thali is also a must try.
A must try place to know the difference between good and great dosa ,and good idli and an insanely great idli.

This place is heavily crowded may it be weekdays or weekends though it is always worth the wait to get your turn. The prices are a lil on the expensive side but its worth every single penny spent!

excellent south indian veg. food....

....but too crowded, reminds me of the eateries at tirumala, where hordes of people are always coming and going.

No problems with the food, but eating experience is just average.

great indian food!!

chutneys is an all time hyd favorite... the hits are - dosas (obv :P), indian food and the buffet spread... their unlimited chutneys is their speciality... their paneer masala and baby corn dosas deserve a special mention... so does their corn fried rice... the buffet spread is very good... lots of variety... but the soups are nothing to mention about... u can skip them... sadly, no udupi meals are served at the buffet counter... it can get pretty crowded on all days... valet parking is decent... there are 3 outlets as of now... waiting to see some more... esp in sec'bad area...

its a best food for family

The Ambience:
Excellent.

There is soft instrumental music playing. Most of the times, the place is noisy, but that's because of the large families that visit. The interiors are well lit and well decorated.

Some of us were really hungry so we'd ordered summin to eat. Biryani and Kheema it was. The Biryani ( both V/NV ) was deliciously cooked with the right ingredients.

the right amount of ingredients and good amount of butter to add to the taste.

I'm sure to visit the place in the future. The Menu is rightly priced and its a too good place for a quick-eat-out with family.

Till next time

South Indian cuisine at its sublime best!!!

Chutneys is easily one of Hyderabad’s favourite restaurants. This speciality south Indian restaurant that also serves Tandoori cuisine offers some of the best Idlis, dosas and other South Indian delicacies that you will find in the city of Hyderabad. No prizes for guessing that the USP of this restaurant is the myriad of chutney varieties it offers, with each one of them being distinctly delicious. Kudos to the management for bringing under one roof numerous speciality dishes from all over Andhra Pradesh such as Guntur Idli and Vijaywada Bomilli idli among others. One of the chef’s special is the steamed dosa, which is regarded as South Indian superstar Chiranjeevi’s personal favourite. It is quite different and worth a try though I prefer the onion rava dosa any day. The ambience and service are pretty run of the mill with nothing much to write home about but the food more than makes up for all other inadequacies. The biggest problem with this restaurant is the time you have to spend waiting to get a seat. The demand it generates is truly second to none and long queues outside the restaurant especially on weekends is not an uncommon sight. Be advised that this is a pure vegetarian restaurant with no alcoholic beverages either. Don’t know too much about the north Indian dishes although the lassi, I must admit, did not inspire a great deal of confidence. Stick to the south Indian dishes and you’ll leave with a full belly and a taste that will stay with you long after you’ve left.

Good food though grossly overpriced

The food at chutney's is quite nice, however its too overpriced in my opinion. The service, the ambience and the quality of their food does justfiy their prices. And they should do something about the waiting time at their restaurant, because it just takes forever to get a table at that place. You could get equally decent dosa's, thalis and food at many other places in Hyderabad at a much less price.

Yum's the word

Great authentic South Indian cuisine and as Aarti rightly puts it - perfect to the detail with the most amazing chutney and sambar!

Went there on a local friend's insistence and would highly recommend it as a must-visit place in Hyderabad.

Simply the best

Chutney's happens to be my favorite place for South Indian when I am in Hyd. Actually, It beats anything I've had in Mumbai. My all time favorite is the simple Crispy Rava Dosa but they also have some really cool dosas and idlis named after famous personalities etc. I would actually go there just to have their sambar and chutnies. :) On the weekend be prepared to wait for a while before you can binge on the food. Its pretty packed. They are known to have a decent and cheap buffet also but I haven't tried it yet. More on that later. :)
