Good Place to spend with friends/ family
1. Though not authentic Thai but a very near imitation.
2. Some dishes tasted really good. Like a rice we ordered had the perfect blend of Thai spices and flavor.
3. Try the Roof Top it has a very good ambiance.
4. Food was served pretty fast.
5. Service is appreciable.
I have read quite few reviews here and most of them tried regular Thai food, I been to Isda Thai twice now. The 1st time it was owned by a different owner and at that time the menu was just 4 pages hardly with any delicacies listed in it.
I was looking to savour Thai food and Isda disappointed at that time and I decided not to go there or recommend to anyone. Later after a year my friend informed the management changed and its a complete revamp. I went to Isda once again to relinquish my thirst for Thai food.
This time the owner suggested few dishes and believe my guys, this is the best Thai food I have tasted. I dont remember the name exactly as they are tongue twisters, try this and I am sure you will love it to the core. Its Chicken Phad or something which sounds like that. If you are still uncertain, inform the stewart its chicken minced meat (kheema) and he will know it.
Guys, one last word, ask the owners (there are quite a few) and they will provide you the best authentic Thai food. I spoke to them why are the prices higher and the reason is all the ingredients, vegetables, crockery are imported from Thai. Vegetables are imported everyday and these guys are tied up with Thai government.
Hope few of you get lucky in tasting what I had there. :)
Great Thai food, slightly heavy on pocket
I have heard from my friends that this is "the" place in Hyderabad to have Thai food. I had contemplated earlier about going here, but somehow it did not happen. So last Sunday when my wife wanted to visit a salon cum gym in the same building, I thought it to be a great opportunity to savor the Thai cuisine.
We reached the restaurant at around 1:30PM. The first thing you come across is the lift-- which does not go beyond 3rd floor (the restaurant is at 5th floor). The staircase is also not wide enough to climb up comfortably.
Anyway, we entered the restaurant and was definitely please by the ambience. The seating area near the glass pane has a good view of KBR Park. The ambience is nice, the whole floor area is of wood and walls also have wood panels.
We were seated promptly, and order was also taken promptly. Since we did not have much idea about Thai food, we asked the steward to bring a chicken soup, a fish starter and a chicken starter-- all medium spicy. The food was also served within reasonable time.
The soup was horrible-- it looked more like Sambar and tasted weird. I have no idea bout Thai soups, so can't say whether authentic Thai soups tasted like that or not; if so, I would recommend people to refrain from tasting that. There was some herb in that soup, which tasted pathetic. My wife said it is lemongrass; I had searched in net and found that is it an essential ingredient for Thai cooking-- but somehow did not like the taste.
The starters were good and spicy. Portions were huge-- enough for 3 people even. We had only 1 soup and 2 starters and we were more than full.
The bill came as Rs 1006. Found the soup to be costly (at Rs 250).
Ambience (Weightage: 10%): 4.5/5
Service: (Weightage: 30%): 4.5/5
Food (Weightage: 30%): 4.0/5
Value for money (Weightage: 30%): 3.5/5
Amazing Food... although it requires a long walk!
We were celebrating a friend's birthday and decided to go to Isda Thai based on word of mouth!
We struggled to press the 6th floor button in the lift for quite some time, before being told that the lift would take us only to the 3rd floor and we would need to walk the stairs after that. The flight of stairs to the 6th floor was damp, the ceiling had water leaking and stank!
Nevertheless we made it to the 6th floor and pleaded the waiters to switch on the AC and get us soft drinks immediately! The restaurant was empty...
We ordered Chicken Satay - unfortunately the chicken was stuck to the skewers and could not be pulled off by a fork. We also had sauteed mushrooms which were good and a Fiery Chicken starter that was amazing.
The Papaya salad was tasty and amazing... we then went on to the Drunken Noodles with Chicken and enjoyed it.
Although we had to walk quite a bit to get to the restaurant... the food served and the restaurant staff made it all worth it! Kudos to the team (please get that lift working immediately!)
Decent Thai restaurent - Kids here is a no no
Food 9/10 - yes the food has authentic flavor and ingredients
Decor 6/10 (they charge 250 bucks for a soup, and the decor is same a restaurent where we get soup for 100 bucks)
not at all kid friendly... not sure why its mentioned its kid friendly in the overview.. its incorrect... your kid wont like it... kid wont enjoy the food, kid wont enjoy the atmosphere, kid wont enjoy the romantic couples.. who need privacy and expect others to be quiet !
Waiters are well mannered.. portion size is good.
other areas where improvement is required.
- Valet parking is a big issue here, I didnt find anyone to park my car.. I parked it myself
- Lift is kind of rusted
- we were sitting without electricity and NO AC for 2 hours, no backup.. .. yes no generator backup !!!
So we should go to this place only in the evening.. afternoon is a big no no...
overall experience - 6/10... food made me give 6 otherwise 4 or 5 was better...
I have been to many "Thai" restaurants in India but this is unique. I had gone to Mumbai and tried what they say :the best thai restaurant in India" but i didnt feel like that.
they say all the celebrities go there and love i t. I would recommndend those celebrity rather to go to isda thai. once u come here u will forget thai food in Mumbai.
WIll COME SOON
I've reviewed this place over a year ago- used to be a regular, but did not visit for a long time (was out of the city, moved far away etc). Anyway, visited last week, and this restaurant is still every bit as good as it used to be. I think they've reduced prices, which might be a sign that they're struggling a little bit - hope this is not so, because the service, taste and ambiance are all awesome.
One bit of advice to the mgmt - the plain rice costs almost as much as the excellent pad thai etc, which seems odd..You might want to reduce the price of plain rice. Otherwise, no complaints.
Truly Thai ( Authentic Thai Food)
I am a Thai Food lover, I have tasted Thai food in many places of Hyderabad, I feel nobody serves as authentic as this place. The food is really very good and authentic. The upper deck is awesome, the overview of KBR park is excellent. The service is very good. MUST GO place.
I live in Thailand i came to Hyderabad to meet my relatives. I had heard about the restaurant in Thailand itself so i went to try Isda Thai. As I entered the restaurant i felt like i was back home in Thailand.
Both of the floors have a real Thailand feeling. The i was waiting for the food and my first to last dish were truly amazing and purely Thai. The i wanted to try something new for my dessert so i chose Thap Thim Khrop and It was totally truely amazing
I would reccomend this restaurant to all thai food lover and people who want to try real Thai food rather thant just food with a thai name.
I love it
Awesome. Must Go
Recently I have visited this place after a very long time. They have maintained it very nicely. The standard of service is excellent. Reception of the staff is very good. Above all the food is outstanding. Please keep up . All The best. I would recommend all the viewers its a MUST GO place. Thanks
Stale Food, Even Poor Service
I had been to Isda Thai a couple of times before and thought it was a pretty decent place, but on the evening of December 7, it was somehow different, needless to say the whole dining experience made me never want to go back here again.
We ordered soup, which was served at room temperature, not even slightly warm. The fried rice was cool in some spots and at room temperature in some others, which clearly shows they'd microwave-heated old food. When I asked the waiter, he claimed it was "freshly prepared food". When I refused to eat anymore of it, he went back and brought some more fried rice, better heated this time, but still clearly old food. They didn't have half the deserts listed in the menu and we had to make do with whatever few were available.
I ended up with a sick tummy the next morning. All in all very poor service and stale old food. I would never go back here again.
Best Thai restaurant in Hyderabad
I went to Isda to recover from Thai food sickness after coming back from a vacation in Thailand and gotta say it was worth it. Great customer service, the outdoor ambiance is beautiful esp. for dinner and the food is as good as it can get. Best in Hyderabad...just a little expensive. If you love Thai food and is looking for as close as authentic, then this is the place to go.
I just wish it was cheaper so that I wouldn't feel guilty spending 1000 for something I would spend about 40 baht in Thailand.
Authentic Thai(Not Indianized) Experience..:))
Visited ISDA 2 hav some authentic thai fud...lift was not working..had 2 take lift from second floor...recieved by a lady who looks very thai..donno real or not:))took a table on roof top..fantastic set up and very gud view of the city..cud'nt win the battle over mosquitoes and ran from Roof top to Under roof:))!!...well designed with nice thai back ground music...prompt staff..
Tom yum soup was gud.,.one easily serves 2 people..very spicy and veg. used were very fresh...Thai phad was well made..portion size gud enuf..v had noodles which were perfect..and u can try out da cocktails as well..
Ambience was very gud...food fresh and well made...fortunately not Indianized version of thai...can surely try out..!!
I got know about this place from my friend. I have been to Isda Thai with my few friends from Mumbai. The Terrace Garden is Very Good , I can say this is the best terrace garden restaurant of the city I have seen. The food was excellent, The Tom Yum Soup was very good, it gives the complete flavors of herbs. I saw very little crowd over there, most of the tables were empty. Hope you will market the place, as i dint knew about this Restaurant before.
Walk n with ur Valentine here..
U vl hv 2 options.. either u can dine at air conditioned interior decorated with Thai artefacts..folks n Thai robes playing music.. Or either u can dine at roof top..the roof top is amazing too..planted environs..with full view of city..charming though..if u r not allergic to passive smoking.. Food is different i wud say..with lot of herbs..i wud suggest to share the dishes as one serving is too huge and the taste is quite unique. For Folks who like to try different gourmet, Isda Thai is a gud option.. v wer 2 and it costed us 1500 bucks..Courteous staff, Exotic ambience..worth to try once...
Best thai food ever
I have had the best thai food at this place. They have very good choices for vegetarians. We had the special Christmas menu and each and everything seemed to be fresh. It did take some time for the dishes to arrive but the wait was worth it (and it meant the dishes were all fresh) . A lot of variety on the specials menu. My wife wanted to have pad thai noodles but it was not on the special menu, but they prepared it for us without any extra charge. Drinks were amazing. The best dish was the tofu with ginger....I have never had such fresh and delicious tofu. I would recommend this restaurant anytime over any other Thai restaurants in Hyderabad.
Very bad expr. Will never go again
Nice decor, was promptly received and given the table - that were only good things, rest was all miserable.
Staff attended me after good 10 minutes, even water was not served. Instead of al-carte, I selected Special Valentine menu, supposed to 4 course dinner. Rs.1800 per couple, assuming it to be good and quick.
I was served 2 snacks out of 4 listed after 20 minutes of wait time.
I was served soup. I wanted one veg and chicken soup. they served both chicken.
I was served 2 curries out of 3 listed, after 20-25 minutes. That too when I raised my voice.
I was served plain steam rice instead of garlic friend rice as mentioned in menu
Desert took 10-15 minutes.
Menu looked so good on card, but on plates it was pathetic.
So we took not more 20 minutes to eat, but had to spend 60-70 minutes in waiting. When I asked them, why such delay they said did not expect so much crowd where as floor had 2 empty tables. It was NOT jam packed. When I asked why steam rice is served instead of garlic fried rice, there was no answer.
Another bad thing, my valentine was veggie and I was not veg...so they said they cannot serve veg and non-veg both, though menu had option to choose veg/non-veg and I was paying for couple.
So, over all my whole valentine dinner was messed up for Rs.1800.
I'm very upset, Will never ever visit that place.
Nice Food.Great Ambience
The Ambience is superb. With a beautiful view of the KBR Park and live Thai music. The food was also very good and authentic Thai. Is a little expensive but you dont mind when the food is great.Never order Steamed rice though which costs 250 bucks.
Better order a fried rice or noodles which comes at the same price!
i've been here twice in the first month that it opened. Partly because i love thai food and because the first experience was good enough to make me want to go back.
the first visit, i was with a large group, seated on the open air roof top that is very beautiful, but the lighting is not enough to read the menu. its great for a romantic dinner. they also have a lounge on the same floor, and on the floor below is the air conditioned restaurant.
the restaurant has nice thai decor, a little overcrowded and nosiy for my personal taste, but nice nonetheless. they have a beautiful thai lady playing some musical instrument, and another who carves fruit and greets guests.
we ordered everything vegetarian, they have decent choices for us! although, predictably the choices for the nonvegetarian are many more. We had a glass noodle salad and clear thai soup to start with. The flavours just burst inside your mouth and you keep dipping into the bowl and plate again and again. They serve some kind of roasted peanut snack at the table on the house, which has pieces of chilly, lemon grass and ginger. the pot of soup we ordered is sufficient for 4 people. the salad serves 2 comfortably. for the main course, we ordered the thai green curry with steamed jasmine rice. I was surprised that the quanity was much lesser than my previous visit, less than 10 days before. I mentioned this to the waiter and he apologised and got us some more rice. I was quiten annoyed that they'd reduced the portions so drastically in less than 2 weeks, that too in a newly launched place!
the waiters are quite clueless about the menu and look despondently at each other when you ask them about any dish, it would help if they were better informed of the menu options. hopefully they will get better with time.
the prices are like any other premium restaurant. and best suited for a special occasion/ celebration or quiet dinner with friends.
isda score overall for the sheer quality of its food.
Service and food = average... this time around
we were sitting more towards the far end of the terrace - away from the reception and lights..... result - our waiter had to use a torch on the menu as long as i was browsing it. Lighting is definitely a problem.
Like last time, there was something wrong with the soup. too much ginger i guess. we had the soup split 2/3... and thought its safe having less of it. but i guess it still dint stop tasting like crap.
this time, the waiter wasnt proactive, nor knowledgeble. we were almost served the wrong dish and it took too long for the right dish to arrive.
the complimentary welcome drink was good enough. and the complimentary drink they serve towards the end dint arrive. they switched to something which tasts like FATaFAt. we were still served that drink coz i asked for it. that was nice of them.
overall experience this time was....not good!
Right from the Valet parking guys, to everyone whom we've interacted with.... WAS SUPER Courteous!!!
Dev - who was taking our orders was very helpful and proactive!
what we Ate:
phad phirik thai dam - VEry spicy and we loved it that way
tom yum soup - Wasnt so tasty. Something was wrong with it.
thod tkrai tofu - Awesome Tofu. Very tasty
khao phad ki maw - Drunken Fried rice - it was VERY spicy for some of us and others found it bland. so - to each their own!
phad kimao - Drunken noodles - i liked it. some of us found it sweet. mixed responses. But still.. we were trying something new.
They served a digestive drink(complimentary); the name sounds like "nam kom" i guess.
its good for your tummy after eating so much spice!
Service is very good. Very attentive and active staff
Ambiance is too good.
food is tasty
Wait time wasnt too long
Staff was very patient and put up with our antics while were taking snaps. they showed us the 5th floor. It was closed by then.. but they have live music and thai foot massages and stuff.
more pics coming up... check out the pics i uploaded!
for authentic Thai - Isda it is
Rather impressed with Isda - very authentic Thai food - soups and main course particularly super. a lot of thought has been put to the ambience, music, tables, and table settings. best part is the view from the restaurant. incredibly courteous staff (a rarity in hyd) deserves a special mention. All in all, worth a couple of visits!
