Unique and classy bakery products-must try
I first bumped in to them at the awesome new Hyderabad Airport. Then, on subsequent visits, got here.
I grew up in Delhi, so have a huge fondness and weakness for 'karachi halwa' - no other halwa comes up with as much dry fruit - it smacks of the best raisins from afghanistan and the best badams. generous amount of dry fruit in every portion :)
have tried the following specialties in the last four months and absolutely love them:
fruit biscuits - butter and tutti frooti biscuits come with a lingering vanilla flavor.
fruit rusk - almost a plum cake version of rusk. could be slightly harder for the seniors, but very crisp. warning: if you don't like the typical rum marinated taste, this one is not for you - but they have an alternate rusk, get that.
khajoor dry fruit halwa - REAL FIND. no artificial sugar or essence. pure dates, badam and pista. nothing else. they don't even share the ingredients on the carton (only for this preparation) because its obviously that secret :) very expensive but oh so awesome. must try.
badam biscuit - tiny finger biscuits made with badam pieces. soft. addictive. can't stop at one.
some items come in convenient quarter and half kg packs. some come only in half kg packs (like the fruit biscuit). all their items are safely storable for at least two months, some a quarter.
service is awesome. ambience very good - even at the Airport. this place is v good.
price is expensive. but worth every Rupee. Go for it. I have many photos - will post them tomorrow - keying this review close to midnight - just an hour left :)
giving food 4 on 5. service 5 on 5. ambience 3 on 5. price 3 on 5.
Hyderabad is basically famous for charminar and karachi bakery :D
Whenever I go to my home town I have to take buiscuits from here to my native.
they serve the best buisuits and you cannot just forget its taste. Its superb.
Also, you fall in love with them.
Price is not that high and they have several branches in the city.
Now though I wouldn't go so far as to say that everything is amazing here, which by the way isn't true, I'd say if you know which stuff to pick, you're in for a treat. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Blueberry Cheesecake and Walnut Chocolate Brownie! As for everything else that I've tried, I would say they were pretty disappointing and definitely not worth the price. If you are the kind of person who does not like his/her desserts too sweet and appreciate subtlety in flavours, you don't have much choice here. I do appreciate their concern for hygiene and their organisation, though. And despite the lack of things that suit my palate, I make it a point to go there on every one of my trips to Banjara Hills, just to get a taste of my favourite goodies.
Worst cake ever!!
I ordered an expensive 3 tier cake for a very special occasion. This was my very first order with them....usually I order cakes from Universal Bakers or CountryOven.com. But call it fate, I decided to try these guys for a change. I placed the order online (from USA) and those a**holes screwed up the order. I asked for one flavor and they filled it with another flavor. When the cake arrived home (delivery), my family was in a state of shock! We immediately called them up, and they would not even accept their mistake. Instead they went about lying for almost 15 mins before getting abusive. Vexed up, I just hung up the phone. My family(wife and kids) eventually ended up cutting that cake, and it tasted pathetic. So my sincere advice to you folks, especially to those who live in US, stay away from this place unless you are prepared for lengthy battles with them. They still make very good biscuits, but cakes are clearly not their cup of tea. Next time, I would stick with time tested Universal Bakers or equivalent.
Totally loved the sweets out there..yesterday while passing by made a quick stop..instead of biscuits this time I tried out the sweets..kala jamun , gulab jamun, and moti choor ka laddoo(I specifically tried these as to compare ) and these three are heavenly out here, I can say the best till now for my palate.
Those not much into sweets can try the paneer kebab and bread pakoda toast (name might be wrong) which were very good . the best part their food isnt spicy but amazingly tasty..
love to visit over and over again..
Everyone knows karachi bakery famous for its fruit biscuits and bakery items . Yesterday I visited their to solely try some of its sweets..being a freak about sweets...tried the Kala Jamun....my sweet lord it was heavenly.
secondly tried the moti choor ka laddu..in hyderabad I didnt quite enjoy sweets much as i did it yesterday, also I bought lal jamun which i had after a sumptuous meal and it completed my meal.
Not only the biscuits and the muffins which I keep bringing from their bakery but the sweets r also a big big hit in this place.
Apart from the above mentioned , those who do not like much sweets can try their paneer kebab or bread pakoda toast..(the name may be wrong) and fabulously their items are not spicy they are tasty.
Totally love this place and will keep visiting here over and over..:)
