Absolute Waste of Money
Visited to celebrate our company's second anniversary.
I liked the ambiance but everything else was absolutely basic...
Food - 1/5 - Not worth the price I paid - Paneer items were absolute waste
Ambiance - 4/5 - Good concept - Can be tried once
Price - 1/5 - Bill was Rs 5000+ for 8 people
Staff - 4/5 - Staff was good
Wait - 2/5 - Waited a lot for each order - make sure you order everything at one shot otherwise you will have 15 min breaks every time you want more Roti's :(
Will not recommend unless all other restaurants are closed in Hyderabad - First and last visit.
Excellent North Indian...in a Cave
Theme based restaurants are a specialty of the Ohris Group and Gufaa is no exception.
Built around motifs of caves and forest with waiters dressed in hunting attire - the ambiance and setting is very unique and an experience on its own.
Valet parking is a God sent on the busy Basheerbagh road.
Dinner with a party of 6 was the last encounter at Gufaa. The complex also houses other theme based restaurants and a full service hotel too.
Purely North West frontier cuisine is what marks the menu.
We took the lamb shorba as soup and the mix tandoori platter as the starter.
The shorba and the starters were amazing. The meat on the platter was perfectly spiced and seasoned and cooked to a perfection.
Main course was the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani and a Butter chicken to go with it.
One of the best BIryanis in town other than the traditional Irani biryani houses. The chicken curry was very good as well.
Desserts followed - rabdi or rasmalai - awesome.
A little pricey but it was worth every penny.
conceptually good, gastronomically nice
so gufaa has been a place i like going back too... despite the negative reviews given below-it is a place i would recommend. the ambience is nice and cosy- the food excellent. for the two of us a dal/sabzi and 2rotis/ rice is just the right quantity. the food is highly rich which is why we skip the starters and desserts... a full course meal is recommended only when in a group of 4 or above... their staff can at times, i agree, be irksome.... but the food more than makes up for it :)
Misleading the people
When i reached there today at 12.10 PM, the receptionist informed that Gufaa was full. Also said that the buffet was Rs 199+tax. When I told him about this promotion at Rs 179+Tazes he said that it is an old offer and not applicable now. Since I went with my family I could not walk out. He also had the cheek to say there is a reserved table at 12.30 and I could have that table if we can vacate in 20 mins. Gosh ! can you believe that? I asked to speak to the manager and Mr. Arun came down to the reception and took us to Gufaa and lo...it was almost empty. It was full after an hour. We were not offered any welcome drink or soup at the table. The table was not cleared when we went for fresh plates. twice I had to move the plates to the empty table beside ours. The walkway was very narrow and difficult to pass when the place was full. Space is difinitely a concern. Music was too loud. Instrumental fare would have been lot better. Food was okay but the service unacceptable ! Second visit. NO. NEVER.
Decent but weird
Hyderabad is still a very lazy place food wise. That is why a place like Gufaa which has no inkling as to how to. h honour a reservation, provide place to sit for their customers before asking them to help themselves through a buffet... that too one that is priced at par Mainland China yet has less options than a neighbourhood eatery will always intrigue me.
The food is good. Specially the Ghosth Biriyani and the ambiance also is noteworthy but that's about it. I am underwhelmed
Only visit if your stomach is empty as a Gufaa
Well they serve buffets during lunch, have variety of dishes, offered. However i cant complain much on the lighting cuz its the gufaa, but even in a cave would like to know what i am eating. Bumped in to the table twice while i was serving myself, next time i would remember to carry the torches while i have a meal. Ambience impeccable, servers dressed as hunters a little overdone but then it all adds to the ambience. for me its a 3 out of 5 .
Hiya, I have been to this place for few times as it is near to my office. I am a regular visitor for B'Hills Ohris and expected the same quality of food.
My first visit to this place was for lunch, they took 30 minutes to serve the food after placing the order. v
The food is just okay.....
The interiors are very well designed and you feel like you are dining in the rock cave :))
