Good Food!

This is a good place for North Indian food .There is very good variety and choices.
We ordered Murg musallam, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani and Rotis. Most of the food was excellent and above average .
Food was delicious, quality of meat was good and all preparations were perfectly cooked.
It is on the pricey side but still worth the food and service.

worth a visit

For foodies nothing is good enough. Although we eat a lot and everywhere, unless the food really hits us, we are not impressed. Being a spice lover, I didn't think any cuisine is better than our Andhra food. I walked in a skeptic into Yellow Chilli and walked out a believer that there are other spices as in other than Chili, and they make you experience magic by way of your taste buds. I truly enjoyed the murg gravy there. Just the right amount of spice to not over power the other flavors. The food is totally different compared to other north indian cuisines. Its worth a visit.

Thank you for your review on Burrp. Kindly note that The Yellow Chilli restaurant, Banjara Hills shut down about at the beginning of this year and is no longer operational. We will look into this as someone is operating under our Brand name.

Average Food But Slow Service

Buffet spread was average, liked only dessert.
Overall an average experience.

Average food, bad service

We went to this place for a team lunch. It was during summer time and since there was a power shutdown they didn't switch on the AC. Even after repeated requests they didn't switch on the AC. Coming to food it was way very ordinary. Was surprised how a restaurant endorsed by such a famous chef could serve such below average food. All the non-veg items had a very hard feel to the meet. Biryani rice was bad. No great desserts. All in all a bad restaurant. Avoid it.

Expensive

Having heard bad things about the buffer, I opted for the a la carte. The spread has a few signature Sanjeev Kapoor dishes, but isn't as imaginative as i had hoped it would be. Some of the veg dishes are really creative, and will please vegetarians looking for something more than the usual paneer dishes. Ultimately, the food doesn't justify the high price tag.

Worst food

I and my three friends visited for lunch buffet and the food was the worst of all experienced till now in hyderabad. i would not suggest anyone to visit this place. its only the name sajeev kapoor but food does not suit the brand. money waste. time waste.

Just another average restaurant

I had been here for dinner last night. The ambience and service was good. The food was just average. The items mentioned as very spicy were not spicy at all. They took a very long time to serve the ordered food.
My feedback is - It is just another average restaurant.

best budget buffet with a view

normally i would have always said that indijoe is the best budget buffet in town , but the thing with indijoe is the waiting to get a table for atleast 15-20 mins because it is so popular

the yellow chilly at rd no 12 with valet parking is nice , lovely terrace view , food options are limited . but u dont have to wait to get seated

the eager to please captain and waiters promptly seated us and started serving us our starters at our tables itself. very efficient; taste was nice

the desserts were limited so was the main course. i request noodles to be added to the main course

the mixed vegetables with cheese was excellent and so was the chilly chicken;
more salads could also be added

per person the bill came to 370 with bottled water so that was easy on the pocket

ambience 10/10
food 8/10
service 9/10
value for money 7/10

Good Food Good Service

Hello Everyone, He is the Grand Master Chef and he is one the biggest celebrity chef in India, I am talking about none other than Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor. He has established his name in the cookery books publishing sector and there is a huge demand for his books as the recipes are easy to make and light on the stomach. He has patented some of the recipes too. He forayed lately into the Restaurant arena with his flagship chain of restaurants with a brand name “The Yellow Chilli”. The restaurant is situated in one of the plush locales of the Hyderabad ( Banjara Hills Road No. 12). I had huge expectations from this one, so lets see what they had in store for me.
I had visited this place on a Saturday for Lunch at around 2pm and I was received very well by a bunch of people. The interior is very well done and there is an open air dining area also, but I chose to sit indoor. I well thought out to go for a buffet as the spread was looking very attractive. My wife is a vegetarian and they served a Tarkari(Veg) Soup to us and it was tasteless just like salt added to boiled water. I did not try the non-veg soup (Murg Jafrani Shorba). Starters consisted of four items 1. Veg Phaldari Sheek 2. Veg Hara Bhara Kebab 3. Bhuna chicken Kebab 4. Anda Pakoda. Among the four I liked the Bhuna chicken kebab, it was nicely marinated and well cooked with right blend of spices.
Coming to Veg Main Course there were 7 items ( Mix veg, methi paneer , Baked veg Veg in soya chilli sauce, Makhani Kofta, Dal Panchmel, Sambhar), they tasted well and my pick among veg is Baked veg. Non veg Main course only two curries ( disappointing) Kadai Chicken and Anda curry, both the curries tasted mediocre. The staple consisted Steamed Rice, Chicken Biryani, Curd rice, Veg fried rice (No Biryani for Vegetarians).
Desserts were ordinary Gulab jamun, Kheer, dry sweet, strawberry icecream.
The kheer was termed as hot dessert on the menu, but it was luke warm.
The service was really quick and very decent. Overall they should increase the options for the non-vegetarians with more items.
The actual cost of buffet on the menu is Rs.450/- (But I got it for Rs.199/- from a deal website) So I cant tell you the exact price please contact the restaurant before visiting the restaurant.

Yellow Chilli Rock!

I had heard people talk great things about Yellow Chilli but had never been there myself. Finally when I did go there, it turned out to be a great experience. It was a date with my boyfriend and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the liquor and of course the ambiance.
I rarely write reviews about places I visit, but couldn't hold back writing about Yellow Chilli. It, after all gave me a beautiful evening! And I recommend all you guys to visit that place.

Awesome food with pathetic service

On 12th June, 2011, we (4 friends) went to The Yellow Chilli for dinner. Name of the celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapur is enough to create a pull, plus I had had great experiences in Yellow Chilli, Guwahati (4 years back, I used to visit it regularly then).

The restaunrant's decor is quite good, gives an authentic Indian feeling. We were promptly seated (albeit indoor; our first choice was open-air terrace space). Orders were promptly taken and served.

Then started the misery!

We wanted to order some more dishes-- but could not find someone to place the order. After waiting for almost 15 minutes, somebody came and took the orders hurriedly. These extra dishes were served separately, so the time the rice arrived, curry items had already gone stone-cold. We were amused to see that for such a big restaurant, there is only one guy who is taking orders and serving it. This restaurant is clearly understaffed. One manager is there but he just listens to everybody without taking any action.

We ordered a chicken starter, and for main course we ordered plain rice, goan fish curry and laal murgh. The dishes tasted good but again, wothout prompt service, we were forced to eat cold food. Also one of my friends got a metal pice (og 1 inch length) in the laal murgh!!!!!!

My overall comment: Go there if you want to have good food, but be prepared for one of the worst service experiences of your life.

No taste and less variety in buffet

I had lunch buffet in this place on a weekday.
Good:
1) Staff are helpful
2) Ambience is good

Bad:
1) Not even a single dish worth mentioning. Taste is not good on any dish
2) In the buffet there are only 3 non veg dishes (Chicken dry, chicken biryani and fish pulusu----not cooked properly)
3) Priced at 300 which is more for this variety and standard

Avoidable restaurant.

But for the ambiance, this place has nothing good to offer..
The soup ranks amongst the worst I've tasted. The starters were burnt. The main course was ok. The service was good.
Overall, this is an avoidable restaurant!

Awesomeeeeeeeeeeee...

Firstly, thanks to the Grand Master Chef for bringing "The Yellow Chilli" to the City of Nawabs.
I have visited The Yellow Chilli on 2 different occasions. On my 1st visit, I was very much excited to have a taste of Chef Kapoor's recipes. But, was highly disappointed.
Never the less.. I was forced to bow down the enormous efforts that have been put up to get this restaurant back to its glory. It was a Punjabi food festival being celebrated at the restaurant, and the quality of the food, its taste was out of this world. Service has improved substantially.
I am just waiting on my third visit to be amazed even more. Hats off to you Chef...

That was Pathetic! Service, Food, Quality

Almost everything here was pathetically planned. As if it was one of the strategy to bring down Sanjeev kapoor's name/fame. We visited this restaurant blindly going by its name.

Service: Pathetic, that's the only word I have for these people. Nobody listens to you. If they serve you welcome drinks then there will be variety of glasses used for the same type of drink. (E.g. Beer glass, wine glass etc) No uniformity. No one will listen to you unless you ask them twice or thrice. No finger bowls given at the end. We simply got tired of asking them for it.

Food: Complete lack of variety & quality that any other small restaurant would deliver. Rice used for Biryani is not basmati (rich rice), if some food items are over in the buffet then no one looks to fill them unless someone informs them... No variety in desserts. Ice cream with no sugar & is pathetic by taste.

My vote goes for pure NO NO for this restaurant. Even if you haven't tried here. Don't even plan a trial. Because you will end up blaming your decision.

Try Safron Strings it is in the same building and is a Good Restaurant Serving Veg Food, they serve Ala Carte and have Huge spread of Buffet for both Lunch and Dinner. Price is very reasonable.

Share:

Definitely not for vegetarians!!

I went there with my wife and 2yr old kid. This is probably the worst dinner I had in a very long while.
The only good thing we got to eat that night was soup. The Paneer starter (which is usually a very safe bet in new restaurants) was so bland you could have mistaken it for sponge pieces.

For main course we ordered butter Nan and veg dish(methi something)and lemon pulav. Both of them were so bad i had to wash it down with glasses of water.

The one thing we liked was service which was prompt and courteous. That said ...you go to dinner for food not good service. So Adéu Yellow chili !!

Lunch buffet experience at Yellow chilli

Today (5th Jan 10)we had been to Yellow chilli in Banjara Hills Hyderabad. It was a worst lunch buffet experience I ever had in recent times. There was hardly any variety in the menu and some of the preparations did not seem to be fresh! There was hardly anything for salad. The soup was just lukewarm. We were told that in anticipation of some problem in the city the buffet may not be usual one. But this doesn't mean the staff should be highly indifferent, the desserts were pathetic, "Moong Dal Halwa" and "Gulab Jamun" kept there directly from the fridge and that too no one attending to it...we had to serve ice cream on our own. Everybody was just loitering around the place and watching TV, I felt we wasted our time and money visiting this place and I'm wondering if it is really a "Sanjeev Kapoor" restaurant?

Bad experience at a Buffet in this place

Hi all,
We went to have lunch at Yellow Chilli on 5th Jan 2010. It was recommended that this place is a good place to have lunch and it is a nice one. But to our surprise, we had a bad experience. The buffet is not good. The food was cold, the service was pathetic, the items stale... in fact it was so bad that we decided that we would never go there again.
I doubt whether this is a 'Sanjeev's' restaurant?

I would not recommend this place to anyone. If anyone wants to try out, it is at their own risk.

Sanjeev Kapoor: do U knw that ur CHILLI is ROTTEN

Despite being warned not to go to Yellow Chilli I still braved it for lunch .

Is this really a Sanjeev K venture??
Well if this really is a Sanjeev Kapoor venture, then this aint doing any good to his reputation...Tried out the lunch buffet....
This is the worst place I've ever been for a buffet!
The spread was not worth the money ....
I Was led to this place due to Sanjeev repu....but turned out to be a damp squib.....

The decor is pretty nice, bright and airy . Lunch is a buffet with no option of ordering A La Carte.

The FOOD:

Each table has the option to be served one veg and one non veg starter. While my husband's chicken starter atleast looked edible, my veg starter was a disaster....some batter fried starter in a hideous dark red colour (really people, is food colouring still legal?) which had been clearly fried many hours ago and re-heated in the microwave. Blechhh!
The soup wasn't too bad,Dal wasn't bad (that does NOT mean it was good!) nor was the VAGUE sticky aloo .
Apparently the chicken dish was not too bad either. A standard Paneer dish and some boring pulao were also on offer. Both non-veg gravies tasted the same; brown gravies with tomato & onions. The biryani was COLD.

The Dessert choices were some sort of Kheer (really guys KHEER as dessert in a "fine" restauarant)
and gulab jamun (way way sweet) with some awful air-filled vanilla ice cream.

Well, this is just another joint in a plush locality where they have decided to serve gibberish food! If you truly value your taste buds and your wallet as well,do NOT visit this place. There
are better options located in the vicinity :)
They had absolutely no clue about what was happening.
Overall, a very bad experiene. Not Expected from a Sanjeev Kapoor establishment for sure.

Bad Food and small Menu

Hi Folks,
Just been from Yellow Chillies lunch Buffet. It was priced @ 199/- + taxes....

Had a soup and got served the below starters
1. Potato Fries ( I dont know If i could call it that. Infact they are long potato pieces fired in oil and served with the same oil. They are not fried actually but cooked in oil. I didnt even tasted it looking at that oozing oil)
2. Toasted Chicken ( I think they brought the dish right out of the fridge. It was dumb cold. No salt..no spice...tasteless...and imagine when it is cold and squeezy)
3. Chicken Kabab( same goes with the coldness and the tastelessness)
4. Fish pakoda (same with the coldness and I insisted that I want it hot. So they got it in the oven for a couple of secs and served. The oil is oozing out from this one also. So didnt enjoyed much either)

There ends my starter menu...to the main course..
The menu consisted of
Chicken Biryani
Corn Pulau
Kofta curry
Murg Tomato curry
fish tomato curry
Dal tadka
white rice

I couldnt believe when the menu ended over there...

The chicken curry is the only thing that evoked some senses on my taste buds.

Deserts consisted of gulab jamun, ice cream,kheer,rasgulla....

and some grams of fruit which were cut into pieces less than a cm cubes and served in a very very very small bowl..I guess it would carry about 75 gms of the fruit overall.

The end...swiped Rs 550/- for both of us (me and my wife) and took an oath never to visit again.

Sanjeev Kapoor shd be happy to be associated...

The people are friendly, the outdoor sitting with view is awesome and food is up to the mark.

Then why 4 stars, u might ask; because the positioning of tables in the outdoor does not make sense. Further friendliness is not all, the staff should be able to communicate better. If, I ask for a suggestion means I am interested in finding out your best and the answer "Everything is good Ma'm" , is just not good enough.

I ate vegetarian, and was happy with the variety and each dish was up to my expectation.

The food here is undoubtedly very good. The ambience is good, but coming to comminucation skills its poor. When i visited the place i was the 1st one 2 enter and and this place got slowly filled. Unlike other restaurants the waiters dint disturb me... thy dint come 2 the table unless called for... The price of food is above moderate but good taste... If any one here is looking for variety in food+good taste= this place is good... The seating is fabulous they have indoor as well as out door seating..the buffet also has variety and taste... every this was superb except the communication skills..
IT TOOK 40 MINS TO GET MY ORDER THIS WAS THE WORST THING...

Good place

I went here on a saturday. They serve good food and alcohol too. As soon I stepped in, I was told tables are full and I had to wait for 20. They served starter drinks for people waiting in the lounge which is nice gesture. Sharp 20 minutes as informed, a table was offered. This place has nice crowd. Food is excellent. I would recommed this place. A veggie myself had lots of varities to taste.
