Gone are the days of heavy woollens. With winter coming to an end, you can now wrap up your woollens and put them away. Here is a quick guide with tips from city-based fashion experts to help you dress up this February, the month were the end of winter meets the beginning of spring.
Colour me happy
Its time to update your wardrobe with some light colours. Pick up some light pink, purple, softer shades of red, light blues, mauves and so on. These are not the typical winter or spring colours but are perfect to make the seasonal transition. Fashion stylist Shruti Kothari Tomar says, “February is a special month, with love in the air and plenty of reason to buy something new. With your heavy woollens stowed away, it’s time to breathe something floral and peachy into your wardrobes.”
Tees and scarves
If you are looking for a casual dressing tip, opt for a simple pair of denim and top it up with some casual tees or tops. Choose from short, elbow length or long sleeves. Designer Nafisa Poonawala Hashim suggests steping into ZARA and picking up some of the light knit tees (Rs 2,400) and team them up with colourful scarves or stolls (Rs 1,500). Shopper’s Stop also has a great selection of scarfs (Rs 600-700). Sleeveless jackets and knitted shrugs (Rs 2,499) from Chemistry are great to beat the slight nip in the air during the evenings.
As the evenings are still cool, Nafisa suggests that you stick to denims or leggings. If you need to attend a formal do then opt for a typical knee length dress and team it up with shrugs that just about cover your shoulders available at AND (Rs 1,999) and VERO MODA (Rs 1,995).
Skinny trousers or leggings look great too. Check out these at ZARA (Rs 2,790), MANGO (Rs 3,790), Latin Quarters (Rs 999) and at Insense (Rs 899) available at Shopper’s Stop. Add long tees (Rs 1,400-2,300) at MANGO, (Rs 1,000-1,500) at Shopper’s Stop and a sleeveless jacket or stole and you’re ready for almost anything.
If you prefer dresses to add the formal touch to your attire, Nafisa suggests picking solid colours. There are right on trend and are super easy to accessorise. Check out these ZARA (Rs 3,790) and FCUK .
Accessorize it right!
Either brightly coloured sling bags or totes available at BAGGIT look great on casuals. With the chill that still lingers on in the evenings, its easy to see why closed footwear is a good bet. You could opt for anything from boots, specially the lighter ones like these at Metro Shoes (Rs 1,890) and ankle booties Mango (Rs 7,990) to flat ballerinas (Rs 1,300-1,600) from Catwalk.
Stylist Shruti leaves us with a little advice “Move away from predictable reds and pinks to mint green, pure white, coral, azure and maybe even be bold with a little gold. Achieving effortless style isn’t easy, but its certainly achievable.”
