Kit Kat Restaurant, Dhobi Talao
Wish Bollywood tunes came out of a jukebox? Well, they do, at Kit Kat. The old restaurant that was revamped recently is a bar that gives you the dingy-bar feel without having to be one. With a jukebox that plays both English and Hindi music you’re guaranteed to get music and cheap alcohol. Diners usually like to play Classic Rock, but you’ll also hear classic 90s Bollywood songs. So you can sing-along to a Beatles track and later dance in your seat to Govinda’s Ankhiyo Se Goli Maare.
Price: Rs 10 per song

Café Mondegar, Colaba
Almost everyone who lives in Mumbai, has visited this Irani café. The murals by Goan artist, Mario Miranda on the walls; checked-cloth on tables; and quintessential bentwood chairs have remained the same for years. And, so has the music. Over the cacophony of people in the cafe, and shoppers outside on the busy Colaba Causeway street, you can hear tunes coming out of the jukebox that sits in a nook. Although all genres are available, you’ll hear classics like Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, Hotel California by the Eagles and Riders On The Storm by The Doors frequently.
Price: Rs 50 for three songs
Sunlight Restaurant and Bar, Dhobi Talao
Sunlight Restaurant and Bar is always flooded with south Mumbai college students. The cheap alcohol and the jukebox playing latest hits pull the crowd in. The bar usually plays the newest hip hop and Bob Marley and EDM as well. You’ll also chance upon house music and Bollywood songs on love and heart-break. Visit Sunlight to know what we are talking about.

If you’re somber, happy or upbeat, they have music records from all genres like hip hop, rock and blues to choose from. Sing along with Britney Spears to Oops! I Did It Again or sway to Coldplay’s Strawberry Swing. So you can play board games with your friends or if you need alone time, just pick up a book from their book shelf and read into the night.

Café New York, Girgaon
The Irani café boasts of a cosy ambiance on the ground floor and a mezzanine floor that gives the place a casual pub-feel. The jukebox on the ground floor croons popular hits and English classics once it’s evening. An app for a jukebox? Well, that’s new. The newly-opened Playlist Pizzeria’s new-age jukebox lets you play from the restaurant’s playlist that can be found on an app after it’s downloaded on your phone. All you need to do: Download the application PlayMySong, search for Playlist Pizzeria and choose a song from the list. Currently, the server is down but we’ve been informed that it will be up and running in two weeks. They play latest English songs as well as the oldies, so you can play your own music from all genres while there.

Café General & Store, Chowpatty
If you aren’t fussy about your music and like every genre that plays, Café General is your type of place. Located next to Sukh Sagar at Chowpatty, the old Irani may not be drawing a young crowd, but old Parsi uncles sitting alone love to play a mix of old and new songs. Thankfully you won’t hear a honey Singh blaring, but you might chance upon everyone from the Beatles, to Coldplay, To Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica and more.  There’s 90s Bollywood music too that’ll get you tapping and singing after you’re a few pegs down. And, they only serve vegetarian food besides eggs, of course.
