Step up and away from the mad rush of the city without actually leaving it. Confused? Let us explain. The new rooftop lounge located at Courtyard by Marriott City Centre, a business hotel is what we are talking about. Plush with a combination of comfortable couches and elegant high chairs that give you a near perfect view of Pune’s skyline this is a perfect spot to unwind after a long day. The soft buzz of the far away traffic, the whistle of the trains at the nearby station and the glittering of street light and car light made us feel like we were seated at the very heart of the city.
Contemporary music in the background, courtesy of the in-house DJ instantly sets the mood for the evening. As you walk pass the DJ and the brightly lit bar definitely gets your attention with the mixologist who is usually busy stirring up some quirky cocktails. It’s almost mesmerising and you might just catch yourself gawking like a child at a magic show.
We settled down and enjoyed the mood music and ambiance, when the piping hot appetisers - Galouti kebab (Rs 400) - smoked lamb kebabs that cooked with coarsely ground spices, vegetable Shikhampuri (Rs 350) – minced vegetable patties cooked in a Hyderabadi spice mix, Tandoori chicken (Rs 400), the aromatic charcoal fish - Kasundi macchi tikka (Rs 400) and Anari Paneer Tikka(Rs 350) soft chunks of Paneer marinated in spicy masala.
Amidst the chatting and eating soon it was time for the mains, so we moved on to the high chairs. Next up, the Grilled jumbo prawns with Peri peri seasoning (Rs 750) had succulent pieces of jumbo prawns marinated in hot and spicy sauce served with mash potatoes, Risotto Ala Pollo(Rs 650) a classic Italian rice dish which is the perfect blend of parmesan cheese and shredded chicken and Tuscan Risotto (Rs 450) - Italian rice dish cooked with Artichoke hearts, red pepper and Pinenuts.
In spite of eating to our hearts content, we couldn’t miss out on the dessert. We had a small portion of the lovely Cassata Siciliana (Rs 350) - angel food cake layered with candied fruit and ricotta cheese. The combination of candied fruits and sour ricotta sandwiched between moist angel food cake was subtle yet delicious.
Even though dining at Evviva is a pricy affair, it’s worth a visit for its sheer ambiance and lip smacking food. A rooftop party indeed!
