Blown away by the service and presentation

5 all Day has a lovely soothing ambiance. As soon as you sit down, the staff lights a scented candle on your table . The drinks are refreshing, not over powering. I had the Watermelon Martini and loved it. The presentation of the food deserves a special mention. Absolutely beautiful and the taste and quantity served match up to it. The pricing is reasonable and doesn't really burn a hole in the pocket. The staff is extremely attentive and very courteous. Awesome place, definitely coming back here, quick.

Great X'Mas meal

The decor is mostly off-white, there are pictures of historic Mumbai and various food items on the walls. The cutlery and wine-glasses are beautiful.

Had their X'Mas dinner y'day. They accommodated me at 5:30 p.m. per my request.

It was a five-course meal of fabulous quality. I started with bacon-wrapped dates - they gave two pieces, while the bacon was still hot. Delish start. Seafood chowder was a generous portion with squid and fish. The pear salad with arugula was fresh and a substantial portion. The piece-de-resistance was the mojo pork-chops - cooked beautifully until tender with a couple of dauphinoise potatoes. The dessert was a lovely X'Mas pudding with a strawberry with chocolate and some quenelled fresh cream on the side.

Service was impeccable.

The price was just Rs.1200. Great quality at a great price.

I am taking my friends back there. Wish my foodie husband was in town.

Amazing food and impressive service

We went on a friday for lunch and opted for set lunch menu. The options on the menu were great with 1 soup, 1 starter, 1 drink, maincourse and dessert. Roasted tomato and potato soup was to good to start with and things kept improving after that. In starter had the most amazing basa - perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chicken starter was also v delicious. Maincourse was also v good and discussion on table was only about food and the place should be visited more often. Dessert of mango cheesecake was the best way to end a very fine lunch. Highly recommended for lunch when you are in colaba side.

pleasantly surprised! Do recommend!

We were a small party of 6 people. 5 of us tried the lunch menu which was much appreicated. As everything is freshly made, it could not be called a "business lunch" for for a relaxed lunch with friends strongly advised. The staff were willing to amend the menu slightyly to accomodate our requests - well appreciated! The ambience was nice and bright with fresh colours. Be vary when you walk in with a step down as soon as you enter. Food qualiy & presentation was top class and the waiers were friendly and knowledgeable.

The Real Deal

5 All Day the restaurant has a solitary yet warm vibe, the theme states a musically live vibe with an excellent European fusion cuisine combined with local ingredients to suit the Indian Palate. The interiors took me back to the 70's with its swing feel. The Kasundi prawns blew my taste buds wild after which followed the Green Pepper Corn and Cumin Rubbed Hickory Smoked Chicken accompanied with some delicious Home made style Beetroot Fettuccine. The desert was rich in it's blends and scents, it was the Dark and White Chocolate Parfait. I kept my drinks to the minimum, as i had to divide my stomach space and i felt more bias towards the food. However, i was glad to see the variety of beverages and their versatility the restaurant has to offer . Overall i was extremely satisfied and to conclude I asked for a placement for myself with a deal of unlimited food ;). Trust me its worth it!.

Colaba's New Eatery

We’ve been fans of 5 The Restaurant in Santacruz for years now. We tell you more about its townie brother, 5 All Day.

Based inside Hotel Apollo opposite Gordon House off Colaba Causeway, 5 All Day has placed itself right in the midst of some serious competition. With restaurants like LeopoldCafé, Café Mondegar and All Stir Fry in the neighbourhood, let’s hope that this quiet restaurant with European-style interiors does as well as its peers.

The place is relatively small with white walls and pastel-coloured furniture. It’s in an enclosed area so those hoping for a view might be disappointed. However, it is perfect for a candlelight dinner or a cosy rendezvous with family/friends.

Instead of sitting at the bar, we chose a table on the inside. We settled down, ordered soup and appetizers and were quite impressed with the presentation when our Seafood Stew and Meat Platter arrived. The stew was a basic prawns and fish broth with a distinct seafood aroma and strong taste. A great appetite-builder for those who enjoy thin soup. The Meat Platter was beautifully presented with an assortment of cold meats ranging from bacon and ham to chorizo, which was a bit too chewy.

For cocktails, we had an All Day Long which was a mix of fresh kiwi, apple juice, mango juice, honey, passion fruit syrup and sour mix in vodka, gin, white rum and tequila. The taste is a bit peculiar on your buds initially but the drink grows on you and we ended up ordering another one!

For the mains, we chose the vegetarian penne in cream cheese with garlic bread and the German black forest ham wrapped chicken with potato wedges, thyme jus and carrots and beans. The ham tasted just perfect but the chicken was overcooked. It became quite impossible to cut and chew after it cooled down. The flavouring with thyme jus did complete justice to the dish and covered up for the hard chicken. The potato wedges were perfect and we definitely wanted more of them by the time the dish was over.

The pasta was creamy and very well cooked. It could have done with a little more cheese though. But that is probably because Indians are so used to having Italian food with extra cheese and salt. The garlic bread was perfect. It had a strong garlic flavour with above average, good-tasting, soft, buttery bread.

We ordered the chocolate fondant for dessert, which took quite a while to be served. But the wait was totally worth it. It had soft, fluffy baked chocolate with a slight orange flavour and white base. This one will surely make you regret ordering so much food and wishing you had saved more appetite for dessert.

The staff was friendly and quite helpful. The service was good and the waiters knew everything about the dishes and what they had to offer. This is a huge deal and almost a compulsion in any south-Mumbai restaurant where the diners aren’t as carefree as their suburban counterparts.

Average meal for two: Rs. 2000/-

Food at its Best

5 All Day is tucked in the corner of Hotel Apollo behind Regal Cinema. As you enter, the restaurant is refreshing to see open and bright dining area. A place where you could get comfortable and spend a lot of time.
If you have to describe the food in one word "Awesome" will just suffice. What is so interesting is they have a small menu, but each and every item is prepared with imagination and skill that will make you beg for more. Since we were a group of 8 and we tried nearly everything, I would recommend the Kasundi Prawns and meat Quiche for the non veg and veg. quiche and pita & Hummus for the veg.

For main course, the fish preparations are excellent. For the vegetarian the spicy spinach ravioli and the spaghetti in light pesto sauce is a good choice.

Pure Sunshine

When I heard my favourtie restaurant's opening in town, I just couldn't wait to go there. The ambiance at both places is totally different, while the one in Santacruz is quiet and dimly lit for a romantic meal this is one pure sunshine. More open, airy perfect for lunch.

Food: They have a set lunch which includes a glass of wine or mocktail. Opted for the smoked pumpkin and fenugreek soup, smoked bloody mary without the vodka, hummus with pita crisp, garlic bread, penne herb cream and a slow baked apple terrine. The bloody mary was average and I've had better soups but the pumpkin and fenugreek hit the spot just right. The pita was crisp and the garlic bread oh so soft. The herb cream was a bit like creamy pesto but more cream and so yum not a drop of the sauce was left. After the heavy herb cream the apple terrine was fresh and low sugar so no guilt pangs after.

The best thing was how each dish was so well presented it made me hesitant to eat it and spoil the visual art in front of me.

Damages: The set lunch is priced at Rs 475.

Am so glad this has opened in town, to go when I want to pamper my taste buds without splurging much.

A definite high 5!

Walking along the busy streets of Colaba, I spotted colour. Then I see 5 ALL DAY tucked away in Apollo Hotel, an old land mark of old-school Colaba. When I entered, I was thrilled with the cool ambience with ambient lighting and nice mellow tunes playing in the back ground. Great day-time vibe. The food was nice. They will only improve with time. Can see a good effort to create a comfortable environment with good food and pricing.
Rumor has it that soon there will be full on bar nights happening.

Cheers, Yohann

Must visit this place

This is a must-visit place in Colaba where I ended up having food one fine day, by accident as a business meeting got canceled & a childhood friend was enjoying food in 5 All Day. Peach-white colored ambiance gives a fresh feel to 5. A multi tier restaurant with a dining & lounge section and a bar on the other side.
We tried the Modern European cuisine for which 5 All day is famous for with some scrambled eggs with Hobz malti topped with cheese. Then had some mixed veggie soup with crumpets. Moving onto the main course, we had a Finnish dish Onion Pie with whipped berry pudding that filled up my tummy to the brink.
Was an awesome experience as we signed off the Walnut cake with vanilla topping. Lip smacking experience :)
