% Spice Borivali.. Pathetic Service
Home delivery from 5 spice borivali was placed at 8.30, they confirmed to deliver in 45 min, however when called after 1 hour he said casually aapka parcel yahi pe hai. when asked to leave immeditly .. after another 20 min... i called them again .. he goes haan bas niklega... after making another 2 three calls i receive my parcel after 2 hrs & 15 min.One soup was missing & Redchilli Gravy was like clear soup.Food was pathetic after waiting for more than 2 hours.
I have always liked the food at other 5 spice outlets but this one is ....
Great food but unfortunately very poor service. I would rate them in minus. Not worth the pain to put yourself in for the food. Plus home delivery takes 2 hour. And they don't even feel bad that the food delivered is cold and not worth eating. Seriously. Minus rating for service.
Place to have delicious Chinese in Borivali
5 spice has been in town for long and definitely this one in borivali also has been serving Delicious Chinese with huge portions. one piece advice to all burpers on weekends reach this place before 8 or usually there a waiting time for 30-40 mins some times even up to 1 hour. Service at this place has been better than 5 spice malad branch.
Good portions,yet good taste
Quality and quantity usually share an inverse relation.Very few places get the balance right.5 Spice,is one of the few places!
Good is an understatement for the quantity.A single serving would suffice 3 people with ease.At the same time,I couldn't find any compromise on the taste.
Just don't experiment with the mocktails!
Worst Service and Food Experience
We had a very bad Experience on our visit at your Borivali (West) Branch & we felt ashamed in front of our NRI Guest to whom we took for Dinner , we thought that our NRI Guest will get a chance to taste Chinese & Thai Authentic Food But neither was of expected Quality .
We had Ordered 2 Veg Thai Curry which was neither of Good Thai Taste & worst the TOFFU was of Burned Taste ( Prepared out of Stale Milk ) , We complained this to the Head waiter & Manager ( Mr. Kedar Mishra ) as soon as we tasted & gave him one samples piece of TOFFU to check But both were adamant that nothing is wrong , so we requested to talk with the CHEF who has prepared But that too was neglected & Both were very Rigid & stubborn in their behavior . This was not expected in 5 Spice as we regularly visit Goregaon Link Road branch were the Food Quality & Service too is very good compare to your Borivali Branch.
Finalliieee 5 spice in borivali...
All my experiences here have been good.
Love the clear soups here. Chicken starters are good too and garlic chilly fried rice and noodles are sooo tasty and so large in quantity :D
Do try death by chocolate in dessert n you will go mmmmmmmm.. The pastry is super yum no doubt but the chocolate ice cream is as good n creamy in taste.
Would love to try something diff next time... this is One of the best places to have Chinese and since its just so close surely will visit often.
Bad service - no one cares
I have been eating at 5 Spice ever since my college days, when it only had an outlet in Fort and over the years I have eaten at all their outlets, Fort, Bandra, Andheri, Malad In the last few months it opened an outlet in Borivali. To be honest this is the worst outlet they have till date and one that tarnishes their reputation. Firstly their food quality does not match the standards of the other outlets and to top it they keep getting the order wrong when I order home delivery. In my last 2 orders they got the order horribly wrong and to top it off, when I complained the first time the manger changed the order and said this will not happen again. The second time this happened (just last night) he ended up changing the order again, but when it came the quality and quantity of the food did not match 5 spice standards I paid up. But called the manger only to be told its a request sir please eat the food I will try to ensure it does not happen again, as I had a 3 yr old waiting to eat food and it was 12 in the night, I just ended up doing that(how can you ever say something like this to a customer). How is this service especially in the FnB sector? This truly makes me reconsider ever ordering from 5 spice again.
Same food but Diffrent experience
I have been to the bandra branch many times and i enjoy going there but their borivali branch is i felt nowhere that good .
The food is good, tatse is same the quantity is good .
What seems to fail is the atmosphere ,the staff ,the seating and the cleanliness.
The tables are very close to each other ,the staff is not very helpful and there seems to be lack of cleanliness.
Hope it improves and maintains similar standards it does in its other branches.
love five spice chinese
i am a frequent visitor for 5 spice oshiwara the day wen they had their branch opened in borivali i had to be their....
must say they have maintained their standards in borivali as well....
quantity per plate is sufficient for 3 ppl
i also tried mission impossible at borivali outlet theirs no change in the taste....loved it :)
Service really really needs to improve
So I've been to 5spice Fort and Bandra, so 5spice opening up at Borivali was quite a delight. I've been to 5spice Borivali twice so far and their bad service hasn't improved one bit. The napkins were dirty, service slow and the one main guy who takes the order for all diners doesn't seem quite bothered.
Basically not a fun dining out experience.
Food and preparation lives up to the 5spice expectations and that's the only thing saving this restaurant.
Super Soup and ok ok Thai
Though of trying thai in 5 spice...but it was Strickly Ok Ok not bad..Necter was little More Better option For Thai..They have Mixed theThai curry gravy with rice as i was expecting it seperate...and it was More sweet than usual...but before that we tried veg lemon grass soup..if you love clear soup it was just SUPERB...you will not feel FULL STOMACH after having it...with perfect balance of veggies and a little tangy flavour made it PERFECT...and last but not least the famous Blue Berry Cheese Cake...i found little Over priced..but taste wise it was Little different from your usual cake...My Wife Loved it but for me it was ok and spl not worth 160rs for a piece
vegeterian people ,please dont visit
respected sir / madam,
i this is buntee jain from from borivali west, today we have taken parcel from your borivali restaurrant . the bill amount was rs 311/-
i have ordered for 1 veg hakka noodles and 1 paneer chilly dry.
it took around 35 minutes for the parcel , and your person ask us to wait for 15 min.
we found some non - veg piece in veg hakka noodle when we opened our parcel at our place.
when we complain about this:- he says galti hogaya aake ke change kar ke jao
i dont believe this , this so unprofessional.
Great Chinese Treat!!!
Had been to 5 Spice last sunday....had a great experience though the waiting period was a bit too much and it was raining.....but once we entered the restaurant it was a wonderful experience of chinese treat!! we ordered for a veg burnt garlic and chilli rice with chicken in sweet n sour sauce. The quantity of the rice and the gravy dish was amazing. One dish can be had in at least 3 to 4 persons. And the taste was yummy. We didnt have the desire to order anymore as our stomachs were full to the brim. Though we had some space for the desserts. Do try their blueberry cheese cake and death by chocolate. both were fantastic. All in all we had a great experience at 5 Spice!! worth recommending!!
5 Spice has always been my favorite, if its about Chinese..! Somehow I prefer it more than any of the well known Chinese restaurants in Mumbai.
The ambience is quiet but can get noisy if crowd starts showing up, mainly because there is not much space between tables.
You have to spend all your time in enjoying the food; it looks, smells & tastes great..! Prepared to perfection..!
Ask for a pair of chop sticks & keep hogging the food..! The main course quantity serves more than two & so is worth all your money if you choose to go in a group.
The dessert menu is really tasty too, ask for death By Chocolate & I bet you will keep coming back..;-)
The turn off is the service, which is a bit too sloppy or slow, you will need to keep asking them to serve you, They have very few pair of chopsticks in stock & so if you want one, make sure you let them know in advance..!
Went on Sunday at 10...Thinking it Will be 10-15 Minutes Waiting But Be prepare for 1 Hour Of Waiting If they say 15 minutes Spl On sunday...After 1 hour We Order Veg And Non veg Both..As I am Veg I will Give u Veg Feedback...WE ordered For Hakka Mushroom Sumthing...Nice Litte Different But for 2 pp its little Overdose as it is a started the quantity was like Maincourse but if u ordering for 5 Ppl its worth trying...N For maincourse we had Veg Burnt garlic RIce SUPEREB Taste with Little Garlic and Onion Carmalised with Lots of Veggies .....Worth trying....and ordered for Exotic veg with Peper sauce...also Worth trying little different from normal chinese...and yaa we ordered for 5spice veg soup...it was super sad...Dont even try it...BLEND AND THICK ..over all RICE AND GRAVE WAS SUPER SEXAD...n As we know % spice is Famous For Quantity Order 1 dish For 4 PPL More than Enough..
Chicken in Vegetarian Food
Had ordered Starters, veg fortune rice and noodles. We were astonished to see pieces of chicken in rice. We had instructed that our order is strictly vegetarian. Pathetic to say the least the way manager answered the call when complained. Few of my friends have also experienced the same in other centres. Will never visit or order from 5 Spice....
Chinese here is not exceptional but definitely worth trying at least once. We had Manchow soup, Coriander soup, Chicken burnt chilly rice, chicken soho, dragon prawns and chicken red chilly papper. Except the rice which is really in huge quantity and did not really taste like fried rice, other dishes were good. No argument against the service.
Finally they are here
This is their 6th and most recent restaurant in Mumbai. I was hoping a restaurant of this kind comes up in Borivali.
This place is like 2 mins walk from my place. Rajdhaani was the first restaurant to start at the same place when the Structure was built. Then came Flavours of China and now its 5 Spice. I am not a fan of Thali so didnt care when Rajdhani operated there. Had been to Flavours of China but did not find it amazingly good. Both the restaurants could not sustain their operations. Now that 5 Spice has come, which is very famous and has 5 well run restaurants across Mumbai, i think it will stay forever.
No need to talk about the food. Its the same at every location. Its that standardised recipes. Great food.
The differentiating factors would be Service and Ambience.
Their service is not up to the mark. But I am ready to give them 4-5 months to improve on that. Also reviewers crib about late deliveries for Home delivery orders. I feel any new restaurant would take 6 months to know the addresses accurately. This place is not Huge compared to their other locations so you can expect waiting time of 15-30 mins on an average on Wed, Fri, Sat n Sun.
The ambience is also not that great for the very same reason that its not huge. But its not cramped either.
Best part of ANY n not just this particular 5 Spice is that their Home Delivery rates are discounted than their sit in rates. And the Main Course portions are enough for 2.
Food - 5/5
Service - 3/5 temporarily
Ambience - 4/5 need to expand
Value for Money - 5/5
We had ordered food from this place a few days back so really can't comment on service, ambience, parking etc etc, but JUST FOOD! Our menu had some starters, soups, noodles, rices and gravy. Though i have had some good food at thier outlet in oshiwara the one ordered was just ok. Noodles were really good! They had measurely messed up with the soup order.
Though I must say that the quantity is really hugeeeeeeee..... and the value for every penny spent.
Average Food - Bad Customer Service
The food quality is average but the service is really bad. Like most restaurants, looks like they dont need business on weekends. They cannot manage large crowds and the excuse give is the restaurant is new and the staff is also new. How sad to hear this from a chain restaurant like this.
Since I stay in Dahisar East, I was asked to pick the parcel as they do not have delivery service for Dahisar East. Fair enough. I picked the parcel myself. When I reached home and checked, the bill mentioned the correct items but the parcel did not hold those. Being a pure vegetarian, I was surprised to see non veg items in the parcel.
I went back to replace that the next day, I was offered with another vegetarian dish at the same cost. I confirmed if it was the same dish and it was confirmed. When I reached home and check it was the same item that we had eaten the previous day. Obviously we expected them to replace it with the item that they had missed the previous day, but that did not happen.
More over, when my wife called them to inform about this, the tele-order delivery man stated that you will have to come back to exchange the item. And was not very keen on passing the phone to the manager. He rudely banged the phone on my wife.
Not a pleasant experience at all for someone to be there again.

Huge Portions! Comfort Food!
Borivli (W) doesnt have one single restaurant of consequence. I have lived here 36 years of my life & have lamented the fact that there is no place one can order food from regularly for more than two weeks in a row.....
I distinctly remember the day when Dominos opened (and i actually, prayed to god, that these guys find lots of customers & stay)..... Along with a McDonalds, an upcoming Subway & some local old hands like Rasoi, Silver Coin (staid at best) & West Coast - This is the broad repertoire of eating joints in Borivli (not counting the 25 odd pav bhaji places) - i pray once again that these guys get lots of customers & stay! - the place where 5 Spice is located was Rajdhani at birth, then became Flavors of China & has now come back to life as 5 Spice.....
Enough of the Rambling! The Place has opened. The Folks are friendly. Delivery happened on time (i had ordered at 815pm asking for a 945pm delivery) & they even took another order at 1120pm & delivered the desserts at 1140pm
The portions continue to be large & tastes are similar to the outlet in Bandra & Fort. The dishes are priced between 120 to 220 (and includes Noodles, Rice, Vegetarian courses, Chicken, Lamb & Fish).
This place will not qualify for any "Chinese Food Festival" - And I dont think they yell about the authenticity of the cuisine. But the food's tasty & I think that's all that matters.
May my prayers be answered! May customers keep flocking to Virajdeep Apartments.
