My eternal favourite
5 Spice is known for its quantity and also quality of food. Its a real good place for large groups. Order one dish ata a time as per your appetite. chicken dragon fried rice and a sweet corn chicken soup taste heavenly.
The dragon fried rice taste tangy and crispy chicken in schezwan sauce are too crispy scrumptious. The rice had good flavouring and veggies but little oily. The quantity will be sufficient for 3 people .Do give a try to the apple chicken or fish garlic.
This 5 spice has to seriously improve their staff and interiors over the years. It been ages I visit this place and will continue to do so!
BIG WORM......yeah you read it correct. Today i visited malad 5 spices and found a big worm in the main course, me being a vegetarian this made me quiet disappointing n yeah felt vomiting too. I being frequent customer at 5 spices always thought that they must be following all quality check before serving food on table but i ws wrong. But todays experience was big disappointment. Today was my bday treat to family and after this everyones mood was spoiled and worst is thaty family left hotel with half empty stomach.
I asked for headoffice number but they gave me bandra branch number. When i called bandra branch manager but there was no one to address the complaint as the owner/manager ws not ther. This is the worst experience so far i have got in city like Mumbai. I ws lucky dat i found it before it goes in my stomach but dont know about other tables.
When i asked manager to show me that plate so dat i can click pic he already thrown dat plate in dustbin. He didn't give me time to click pic. As he ws aware about mistake.
I want to rate this experience minus but there is no option for it.
Strong recommendation to all friends, keep eyes open on each byte if u r going in this restaurant.
avoid going here .................................

Simply worth it!!!
My friends treated Me on my B'day this year (yes, U read it right). We went to 5 Spice at Borivali and since it was early evening on a Saturday, finding place for 5 wasn't hard. Quantity is good, which we knew about. Decor is simple, not too loud. Tables are well gaped and the whole restaurant looked spacious. Order took 20 mins to come, so the service levels can certainly improve. For me, Taste was great and much needed change. I still don't know how much the bill was (remember, I was being treated) . We had ordered couple of Starters and couple of Main Course, veg and non veg each. Both were great, especially the Veg one. Hardly you get such amazing quality in Cottage cheese. I will certainly go back with more friends and try something else. But surely, there is room for improvement.
A BIG disappointment
So after lot of YES / NO, we finally went to 5 spice. Been to 5 spice several times.
Well located in Malad west, easy to find the place. We reached at around 8.30 pm on Friday evening. Not too crowded when we entered.
Ambiance : They have AC and non AC section. lighted well. seats were not comfortable. they should come up with nice seating arrangement instead of wooden seating. Noisy atmosphere at sometimes.
Service : Service is little disappointed for us as it took more than 20 mins to deliver our order.
Food : I was in love with 5 Spice when we had 1st time food in 5 Spice. but this is not the case now. Day by day the quality is getting decreased but quantity remains the same. Starters were average except Dragon Chicken. Soup was Just OK. Thai rice with prawns like what we are eating, felt like eating kind of Dal-Khichdi. Only their rice and noodle quantity is generous. After the main course we did not even order Mission Impossible in desert which is my favorite in 5 Spice as we already had too much without good taste. A BIG disappointment here.
we ordered :
Chicken Talumein Soup
Chicken Burnt garlic soup
Thai rice with prawns
Cold drinks - Sprite
Damages : 1600 for 4.
Verdict : If you are hungry and less in pocket simply get in 5 Spice.
Will i go here again - NO
Will i recommend this place -NO / If you are hungry and less in pocket simply get in 5 Spice.
Worm in the rice
Had been a regular customer of 5 spice until recently i saw a dead worm in the rice.. It used to be my fav rice, but i've lost it for life ! I did not get any refund, and i did not want ant replacement as I wont think i'l order from 5 spice ever again. Sad!
Only Quantity Zero Quality
5 Spice by the day looks like is doing a favour feeding its customers. The service is which initially( that's wen they newly opened up) was good but now is getting from bad to worst. The quantity of the food continues to be good but the quality is deteriorating. The Oshiwara branch was anyway bad and I think the Malad branch is falling their footsteps
never try to order from here
i m frequent with ordering my lunch from in & around malad, but the experience with 5 spice malad was most horrendous. the guy at the other end is so rude i just couldnt believe myself & didnt order in response. i hope mgmt takes notice of this & takes necessary actions and i hope i get notified about it as well as until them i ll not even wander near this restaurant
Poor Service & Cold Food
Yesterday, we 2 had been to 5 Spice Malad for dinner. The service was so poor that not even fork could not be given to us. Springs rolls were ordered but served after 40 minutes. The excuse was given to us that this is item is deep fried but when served, it was not even warm. This was pointed to the captain. The quantity is good. Please try to improve the service.
5 STAR :)
5 SPICE !!!
5 Star from my Side :o)
One of the Best Chinese I have ever had, I mostly order two items like 1 starter & 1 combination rice.
Two plate of service is very much sufficient for two. Which mostly cost me Rs500/-. The best place for
Chinese is always 5 SPICE for me.
Affordable price as per the quality & quantity they serve.
Order 1 item at a time, since the serving is too big for two to eat. Not seen service as big in any other restaurant.
Good quantity, but down on quality
I went to this place with a group of friends and we came out with a mixed view for this restaurant. We ordered for a Crab meat soup which was disappointing, the chicken in the starter was under cooked so we asked them to replace the starter and they obliged which was good. The next starter we ordered was a chicken spicy fingers which was superb and the quantity of the food here is humongous. Besides, they have a very few options of wines but the cocktails are good.
p.s: This place is a complete value for money.
No Home Delvery below 500... not even for 490
Have to give an awful review as we did not get to taste their food. We wanted a home delivery but were told that its possible only if the order is worth Rs. 500 or more. We added a soup to our order to take it to Rs. 490. We were then asked to order a more expensive soup which we did not want to increase the bill to 500. They were adamant saying that we will not deliver at home as the bill is 490. When we asked to speak to a supervisor we were told that he is busy and were given a mobile number to call. The said supervisor Gagan obviously did not pick up the phone when we called on the mobile number.
Cant take negative feedback
We chose 5 spice as an obvious choice for a bday party being a restaurant of great repute. However, last night we were thoroughly disappointed with the service and the negligence of the captain. Being a vegetarian, I was served a vegetarian dish which smelled of meat which clearly suggested that it was cooked in a pan meant for non vegetarian food. On complaining, they made disgusting faces and refused to accept their fault. They do not accept criticism which makes me believe that they are going to continue this practice henceforth. Rather than owing up to the mistake, they tried to make me believe that I was wrong. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone else.
Best Chinese at Best Price

Good food at affordable price
I like 5 spice because there food is tasty and it is easy on pocket .Their portion size is very good .The only problem is at times they tend to make the food a little too spicy .You might have to tell them before while placing the order .Otherwise , everything is good :)
No one matches the taste & quantity
Its a little sad that they won't deliver in Pandurang Wadi unless you order worth a grand. 5 spice has always been the delivery place - the taste & quantity have remained unmatched over the years. But if you want to get your hands on one of their tempting deserts, you will have to visit the resto.
Chinese ?? 5 Spice it is..!
5 Spice has always been my favorite, if its about Chinese..! Somehow I prefer it more than any of the well known Chinese restaurants in Mumbai.
The ambience is quiet but can get noisy if crowd starts showing up, mainly because there is not much space between tables.
You have to spend all your time in enjoying the food; it looks, smells & tastes great..! Prepared to perfection..!
Ask for a pair of chop sticks & keep hogging the food..! The main course quantity serves more than two & so is worth all your money if you choose to go in a group.
The dessert menu is really tasty too, ask for death By Chocolate & I bet you will keep coming back..;-)
The turn off is the service, which is a bit too sloppy or slow, you will need to keep asking them to serve you, They have very few pair of chopsticks in stock & so if you want one, make sure you let them know in advance..!
Awesome food, poor service
I am giving 4 stars, solely for the food...the food here is so good..the quantity is humongous!!! you will be stuffed but will still have lots of food in your plate!!! love everything about them but they just need to work on their service, which is really poor..they take hell lot of time in serving..
but all in all, a good place!! definitely must try!!!
Dispicable Service at 5 Spice?
Dear Mr Mohan,
I am writing to explain my dissatisfaction with the food and service offered by your restaurant, 5 Spice, Malad.
I am a regular customer of 5 spice for several years now and I eat at your restaurant along with friends and family at your restaurant at Malad (as I stay in Malad) or Bandra and have always enjoyed your food, which is why I patronize your services very frequently.
Last month, I visited your restaurant in Malad along with my mum, dad, brother and 4 year old nephew. Honestly, the service was extremely sloppy. The waiter who was serving us kept rushing and as a result kept spilling food and gravy all over the table. He seemed completely oblivious of what he was doing wrong and we had to call him time to time to clean the mess he made, as you do not have any tissues on the table, as you may be aware, else we would have done so ourselves. While I enjoyed the food that day, I can't say the same about the service, which according to me left a lot to be desired.
On Wednesday, 16 November 2011, my mother and I dined at your restaurant in Malad and we were seated in the far end in the AC section. To begin with, though the restaurant was empty considering it was a weekday, none of your waiters bothered to give us a menu card until I had to draw to their attention that we needed one. When we received one, we ordered a plate of crispy chicken and chicken mandarin noodles. Though the waiter informed us that the crispy chicken would take at least 20 minutes, which is understandable taking into account the cooking methods, I was appalled that the same did arrive at our table after waiting for nearly 40 minutes (twice the time mentioned) and after reminding the waiter about our order. When the dish finally arrived, I was shocked to see the quantity of the chicken - it was barely enough just for one person. I remember your quantities were wholesome at one point of time, but now you have drastically reduced the same which is a rip off considering the dish costs INR 250/- a plate. In addition to this, none of your waiters were voluntarily attending to us, simply because we were seated in the corner and I had to every time get up and wave my hand to signal for the waiter's attention, which clearly displays lack of customer service or concern.
Nonetheless, 2 days later, i.e. on Friday, 18 November 2011, I again visited the same restaurant with a friend of mine. We reached at around 2130 and I gave my name for a table of two and informed the service desk that I was absolutely fine with being seated in the Non-AC section. I was asked to wait untill my name was called out. Whilst I was leaving another couple walked in and added their names to the register (i.e. after mine in the list). My friend of I were seated along with few other customers who too were waiting for them name to be called out. About 20-25 minutes later, one of your staff walks up to this same couple and tells them that since they want a table for two, he could accommodate them as there were many table available for two seaters. I couldn't believe my ears as my name was listed in the register before theirs and I wasn't asked if I could be seated which made me feel extremely discriminated against. I immediately walked up to that same staff and told him that I was waiting as well and only then did he let my friend and myself inside the restaurant. When I walked into the Non-AC section, I saw there were several tables vacant. Then why were we made to wait for 20-25 minutes when I clearly informed the service desk staff that I was prepared to sit in the Non-AC section. This clearly shows that they are not paying attention or making specific notes.
After we were seated, nobody bothered to hand over the menu cards to us untill I accosted one of the waiters and asked him for one (similar to the previous occasion). While we were deciding what we wanted, one of the waiters laid the plates and cutlery on the table. To my utter disgust, I saw that my plate had food particles stuck on it which was repulsive to look at and clearly shows the hygiene standards your restaurants maintain. When I drew this fact to the waiter, he did not have the courtesy to apologise, he very as-a-matter-of fact, gave me another plate with no sign of regret.
By now, I had almost lost my appetite, however, since I did not want to ruin my dinner date with my friend, proceeded to order our meal. We ordered a Crispy Hunan Chicken and Chicken Mongolian Pot rice. Apart from the hunan chicken being inadequate in terms of quantity, it was not one bit crispy as the name on the menu suggests and to add to my annoyance was served cold. I immediately informed the waiter about this and asked him to clean my table which was a little dirty as well as serve me some pot rice (again insufficient quantity offered). While he cleaned the table with a tissue, he took the salad plate and went to the counter and started chit chatting with his colleagues. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Here I was complaining about the cold starters and requesting him to service me some rice, and instead he walks away with the salad dish only to engage in some frivolous conversation with the other waiters, with complete disregard to my request. My friend and I finally drew his attention and asked him what was happening and it seems he completely forgot about his duties. I had to reiterate my requirements for him to finally execute them.
As you can see, I've had three dis satisfactory experiences and honestly, am not looking forward to visiting your restaurant or ordering from you in the future, especially when there are several other dining options available. As you may be aware, link road and malad is a diner's haven when one can find good food at every nook and corner. So why should I continue eating from your restaurant when I cannot expect a decently reasonable service and food quantity.

One of the best places for Chinese food in Mumbai
I love 5 Spice for it's service, cleanliness, food quality and quantity. I go there quite frequently with friends, almost every month, for some good chinese dinner. We usually order the Thai Pot Noodles, which is sumptuous for 2-3 people (average diet). Also the crispy chicken in starters is quite delicious.
I also order food for home delivery from 5 Spice quite often. And if I am sick, hot chicken clear soup from 5 spice is always on my list. 5 Spice also has some fabulous desserts, my favourite being Death by chocolate. But if you are 4 or more, try Mission Impossible, it's fun to experiment with.
The only thing I don't like is the long 1hr waiting queue especially on weekends. But I'll add... the food is worth the wait!
Pathetic food and bad service - Malad West
we had ordered for hot n sour chicken soup, crispy garlic chicken for starters and chicken nanking rice for main course. they had served some sauces along with kimchi. it was sweet and had sugar crystals. the crispy chicken was crispy but had no taste and was very bland. no flavor in the main course as well. compared to the other 5 spice restaurants, this was horrible. added to it the service was slow. better to stay away from this place.
great food bad service
the food of 5 spice is just amazing i loved to be here always. but the staff workin here r not trianed they fool around passing comments on their guest, this incident happened when one of my friend called a steward bhaisaab and 3 of them just laughed n passed comments n ran from their whih we felt very bad.
Average fare... poor ambience
Visited this place on a whim last week - had a choice of a few places in the vicinity and chose to try this one.
First up, the way that the place is setup and presented could o with a real overhaul.Te tables are piled on right next to each other - an Udipi joint would have more space. Its one thing to have the place alive with the buzz of conversation - this place is positively noisy, made worse by the fact that its difficult to distinguish where one table ends and the next starts.
The food is acceptable - good quantity served (more than in most places) and the taste is decent as well. This place is supposed to be an Orienteal cuisine joint but the menu has so many Paneer items that one is left wondering!!
The service was somewhat screwed up - maybe it was a one off thing with me but I would think not. IT takes ages to get the stuff served. And when it does arrive, the veggies came first and the rice came 10 minutes later. We had specifically requested that the food should not have mushrooms but lo and behold, what came was laden with mushrooms.
All in all, ok for a one time visit - strictly.
Home delivery takes forever!
I ordered thai pot rice today at 8 pm. Food arrived at 9:30 pm after calling them 5 times. They lived upto to their name :)
Manager Gaganpreet extended apologies & insulted by offering 10% discounting for spoling the evening. When I asked him to transfer phone to his boss he blatantly refused. I'm located just 5 minutes walking distance.
Staff when u visit restaurant is also poorly trained. But food quality is very good. Just be enormously patient after ordering n you'll do just fine
Nope. Skip it.
Just got back from the restaurant and listed down are all the things you would want to consider before going here:
1. If you call for reservation, they clearly decline but assure of less waiting time. On reaching there you figure you will end up waiting for 20 mins at least
2. Each table has a team of one manager and all possible waiters in the restaurant! They actually need to be prompted in order to get your food to the table instead of the next one
3. All kinds of noodles taste the same. So do their saucy dishes
4. Being a dessert fanatic my only hope was their mud cake which disappointed me !
So to sum it up, not worth a visit!!!
By walk this place is 5 mins from my house. So ideally I should go here often, if the entire experience is good! Unfortunately it was not!
On a Saturday evening, I went inside at 8:15 to book a table for 5!
Place was around 50-60% empty. From entrance till I went inside(distance 20 feet) I saw around 5-6 people who were dressed as managers!! So many people for what!!!!! Will not be surprised if this place has more managers than even waiters!
What was worst, in-spite of being reasonably empty, none of the managers care to ask me as to how many people we were! This is one of the basic etiquettes ANY restaurant must have and I have seen it almost all the places(low, mid, high end ones)! So there itself I knew this place would let me down!
Then after asking 3-4 managers, one manager finally lent his ear and pointed to a table where the patrons had paid the bill and the table would be ready as soon as possible. This thing took around 15 mins!!!
Then once seated...the same familiar menu came...which was re-assuring! Service of the waiters were much better and professional than their wannabes lazy managers!
What we ordered (Don't remember exactly the names, but will try) -
Roasted Paneer with Vegetables
Sweet and Sour
Mix of Noodles and Rice
Bottle of Aqua mineral water
Blueberry Cheese Cake
Total tab - 1350
The first 3 as mentioned above was quite nice. Though paneer may seem unusual for chinese cuisine, Roasted Paneer is a speciality of 5 Spice and they indeed make it very good!
The main course consisting of Sweet and Sour/Mix of Noodles and Rice...both were very sweet. It may not be right to say the dish was badly made, just that I dont like dishes which is too sweet. So if you like sweet, you may like it.Here I would say the way we ordered could have better tweaked.
Blueberry Cheesecake was good...infact 5 Spice is known for their desserts, so get to their dessert counter and have a look!
Their Fort/Bandra branch I would say is much better. Fort one is small, Bandra one is quiet.
But even this one is doing exceptionally if the flow of crowd and people waiting outside is anything to go by. After Oshiwara this is the only branch further down the suburbs, so location is an advantage for 5 spice.
Dont take my word of anything I have said above, these are relative and subjective issues, so decide for yourself!
veg or non veg dish???? crap....
I went with my cousins and family friends to 5 spice at Malad, ordered veg rice in that we found 2 pieces of chicken wings, my friend being a non vegetarian could identify that. Utterly crap this was not acceptable. Called the manager he said "bahar se aagaya hoga" what sort of management is this??
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE VEGETARIANS, IF YOU STILL WANT TO GO THERE BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU ARE EATING.
awesome fantabullous-but i am yet to visit d place
chinise = 5Spice
cant get better then this ....
we were looking for some nice chinise resto in malad after our office hours and just did a google and came to know aabt new shop in malad so thought of trying it .... and my word .. it turns out to be my best chinise food ever ...
desserts r simply wonderfull ..i liked the idea about customization in desserts as per your like .. if your non veg, thn definite try is prawn noodles... guys would suggest this to a chinise food lover ... hope you have nice experience..
