visited few months back.. the place looks amazing... but the sitting arrangement is not comfortable.. you have this huge sections of sofas and low lying tables, which are not proper for dinner.... also there is a huge dancing space around the table... music was ok.. had to wait for a good song to be played so we could dance..
The prices are steep..
we had ordered two moctails.. one pizza and one pasta..
The pastas quality and quantity both were good and so was the pizzas
both tasted great
but i doubt i will be visiting this place again just for food
one of worst places to go. we were there for the finals of ipl for their 599 unlimited alcohol. they kept announcing their offer was on. but last minute they changed their prices. we made the booking 2 days prior. despite all this on arrival the prices were changed. no prior notice given. their Facebook page confirmed the offer while we were sitting in their stupid restaurant. never the less we paid 1100 per person. but their staff refused to accept their mistakes. we have screen shots and videos of misbehaviour from their end. never again!
Loved the Food!
We were at Apicius Yesterday and here's what I have to say about the place:
Very understated They had a cricket match going on at mute which was great because it was the fine dining area and so you could watch the match and talk at the same time. I still feel that they can work around the lighting, it can be a little muted for the two tables which were placed near the entrance and farthest from the screen.
I had the Fettucini Alfredo Con Pollo Affumicato (Phew!)
I loved how the cheese blended perfectly with the mushroom flavour. The quantity was enough for 2 which was a surprise as i was expecting small portions.
I also had a Fruit Punch with it which also tasted just right with the pasta.
A courteous bunch of servers and very attentive.
I will go back again to try more non-vegetarian food!
Definitely a must visit!
I visited Apicius on a Saturday night - we were throwing a surprise party for a friend and chose Apicius as the venue. None of us had actually been there, but we had heard positive reviews and thought we could take a chance.
1) The manager was extremely nice. Since the music was too loud in the lounge, we requested for a table in the fine dining part of the restaurant. We were immediately given a table for 8. When the group swelled to a larger number (at one point, we were over 16!), we were given the private dining area. It was a wonderful gesture on their part.
2) Having a big group over comes with its share of lack of organisation. The waiters and the manager were extremely patient with us - allowing us to take our time to order our food and drink.
3) When the party reached a stage when everyone was forced to do shots, the waiter (at our instruction) served water shots to all the drivers (it came with the lemon and salt!). Again, a big plus in my books!
4) At the end of the party, just as we were wrapping up the bill, we were served a round of vodka shots on the house! Again, a real kid gesture on their part.
5) The evening ended on the perfect high - when all of us went to the dance floor (in the lounge) and danced for a bit. The music was pretty much all Bollywood masala, but again, who can't dance to some wonderful Saat Samandar remix!
The food was delicious.
1) We ordered a couple of pizzas (one veg and one chicken) - both were excellent. The pizzas had think crust and the flavouring was delicate.
2) The mutton kibbeh was perfectly done - the meat was juicy and the flavour of the mutton was not over-powered by the other spices.
3) We also ordered the hummus platter (nothing extraordinary) and another chicken-based appetizer (had too much masala!).
We didn't try out any of the cocktails - most drinkers were content with Scotch, champagne or wine.
The (only) negative:
At the time of making the reservation, I had requested a seat in a place not playing loud music (we wanted to converse over drinks and dinner). They assured me that a section in the lounge would be perfect - since there would be no loud music till around 9:30pm-10:00pm. When we got there at 8:30pm, the music in the lounge was blaring. No way any conversation could be maintained. We then had to shift out of the lounge.
Although this didn't stop us from enjoying our restaurant experience, a little honesty upfront would have been appreciated!
Worm in ceasar salad @ Apicius
I was at Apicius for lunch today (12/12/12) for lunch with my boss & another colleague & was horrified to see a small green worm on the lettuce leaf in the salad (it was more so horrifying as my boss spotted the worm & we totally freaked out)....needless to say we walked out of the place immediately.
Its a big shame that such a fine dine restaurant has kitchen staff who do not bother to wash the lettuce thoroughly & properly under running water, also the chicken was not fresh & was apparently removed from the fridge & cooked.
The manager as is the wont apologised, but we I am not so sure that the kitchen staff will be tidied up & hygiene quality maintained after this incident.
nice place withot dress code,(shorts,sleeprs)
guys such a good place in sub. nice food, nice ambiance, and no need to worry about dress code, you can walkin in sleepers and shorts also. seriously i was shocked when i saw that, i complain to manager (Mr. desouza) 5 time, he took action once send that guy out but in few second he entered again in front of gate keeper. it was horrible. then manger told me they are going in 5 mins. but they go with us at time of closing (1:30 am). i have pic of it also. i wish i can attach it with this comment. so guys go and enjoy with any dress.
Expensive .. one time visit.
Its a fine dine and expensive. The quantity was another downer. Mango Martini as a cocktail and mocktail tasted below average and not inspiring AT ALL. What saved the day was the complimentary bread basket that arrived in between every meal and the hummus was wonderful in garlic and butter was mouthwatering! ........and that ends there!
Quiet and Romantic
Located on the top floor of a corporate building the restaurant is divided into two sections. The outdoor is dominated by the large bar while the dimly-lit indoor section is ideal for a quiet meal. It seems not too many people know about the place since it was half empty even on weekends. This of course also makes it a great place for a date.
Food: We weren't too hungry so decided to skip appetizers and move directly to the main course. The menu had a good mix of veg and non-veg with a liberal sprinkling of middle-eastern dishes. Ordered a margherita, Pizza Giardiniera, Griliata Mista, Shish Kebab and Budino Di Cioccolota for dessert. The pizzas were the right kind of thin and delicious. The Giliata Mista essentially cous cous with grilled vegetables and a saffron sauce was very blah and could have been better with maybe a better sauce. Friends raved about the shish kebab devouring the entire dish amongst two of them. The hummus served with it was a little bizarre though.
The star of our meal was the dessert Budino Di Cioccolota. Oozing molten chocolate served with a divine chocolate chip ice-cream in a waffle bowl. The outer shell of the molten chocolate was a little tougher than at most places but the ice-cream more than made up for any deficiencies.
Service: Had a discount code for a free appetizer/dessert with the main course but no one seemed to be aware of any such offer. Even calling the owner shed no light so they just gave us a 10% discount.
Service was a little slow and confused but our server atleast knew what was on the menu and what the items comprised of.
Damages: Came to around Rs 3000 for 5 main courses and 1 dessert.
Apicius not Epic but Good
After a not too good experience during an event, I got an opportunity to visit again this Saturday for a friend's birthday party.
At 9 pm on a Saturday in Bombay the place was literally deserted, however since we were a group of 20+ it did not matter.
For accompaniments with drinks, we had Bruschetta al pomodorro which were pretty nice, pita pockets with a choice of stuffing - again nice and the hummus was fresh too, Bostondicini di pollo bbq (barbeque chicken) was the best of the lot, whilst the lamb balls left a lot to be desired. There was veg and non veg pizza, with the veg being really good, whilst the chicken pizza was a damp squib.
For dinner we just had Lasagna di pollo - made very nice and Lasgne con verdure which was better.
To polish it off, we had chocolate mud pie with ice cream and cheesecake.
All in all a good time, particularly with the bar area allocated to few small groups & they humored us by playing Bollywood music also, with excellent service.
However, it was still a mystery as to why it was practically deserted on a Saturday evening, whilst Hometown, Bora Bora & Kazan across the road were jam packed. But never mind, a place I would not mind visiting again.
vibrant bar and great food..
i went to apicius for an event recently..the place was packed and we enjoyed the performance thoroughly...we ordered for a few non veg starters and pizza along with drinks..the starters were delicious infant i was quite impressed with the quality of d food and the variety they offer on their menu..the pizza was perfect thin crust n done to perfection ..the pizzas were as good as ive eaten in a long time ...the open bar area was classy and very upscale and the atmosphere there was very lively..will definitely visit the place again..had a great experience at apicius..
Defi worth a try but need to market it more
I went there on a Saturday night...the place being new and not well marketed was not known to many of my friends...the restaurant ambience is beautiful and classy and the outside bar area is also very well made..as far as the food is concerned..I loved the mezze platter and in particular the margerita pizza ..the overall experience was good ..but they need to market the place more as most people don't know that the place exists...hope the place picks up in the months to come...but overall will suggest people to check out the place as they have done a great job with the food and the overall feel of the place is ver nice
Amazing place!! Its a must visit for all the Italian food lovers the pesto pizza and arancini were absolutely delectable my personal favourite is the pesto pizza.. luscious and a perfect taste and finally the mango mojito is heavenly.. a fantastic ambiance, an open bar and a great service this place simply rockssssssssssss!!!!! Great job guys.
Had a very good experience at the newly opened restaurant called "APICIUS." The food and the ambiance was just perfect. The private area was well suited for the 15 of us who visited the place and it was lot of fun watching England v/s France with loved ones. Need more such restaurants in mumbai. Will surely visit this place over and over again.
This place provides a perfect location for multiple occasions. Even though it is located in Andheri (Townies, turn that frown upside-down), it manages to pull off a classy crowd.
To start off, you have to order Apicius Green, an amazing cocktail. For starters, the mezze platter is a must. Being fond of ceaser salad in general, I ordered it and was very impressed with the way they served it. The pesto pizza was my personal favorite and the thin crust does the magic.
The open-air rooftop lounge is startling with a bar right in the middle; all at a volume that allows one to fulfill his/her mission to hit a bar- make small talk, leaving aside the obvious- drink.
Its western style, subdued lighting and handsome chandeliers has classy written all over it.
All in all? Love the place! Fantastic lights, well mixed drinks and superbly mixed tracks- my definition of a good night out.
Apicius- Ill be back!
