Now the gin bar.. 30 brands of gin.. what a different concept..!! and the way my gin & tonic was served. A MUST VIST PLACE, @ jw marriott..WORTH EVRY PENNY I SPENT..
We went there on the occasion of my friend's birthday and had a lovely time. It's a very swanky place. The staff is extremely courteous and are very well informed about the menu and did make some great recommendations. The meal started with this very indianised version of a bread basket! Naan with some tomato paste, garlic clove to rub on the naan, olive oil and sea salt. It was very flavourful and we were quite surprised at how much we enjoyed it :)
We tried the scallop carpaccio which was really really good, the prawn gambas(yumm). The best dish of the night for me had to be the steak tartare. That was the first time I tried it. Minced beef(raw) with a raw egg yolk on top of it and with caramelized onions, soy sauce and a wasabi infusion. It might not sound appetizing in its description because of the raw meat and egg but it was out of this world! If you are a meat eater, you HAVE to try it. There was a baby artichoke dish with a lemon mayonnaise that we tried which really impressed us too. For desserts we tried four of them which included a creme brulee, a trio of desserts, a tarte-tatin, and a lime /mint granita as well. I remember us being VERY content and had a big smile plastered on each of our faces! Such a lovely meal from the start to the end.
Although it is very highly priced, they do live upto your expectations and give you your money's worth. I would recommend visiting Arola for a special occassion for sure.
The ambience, food and wine were great. We got complimentary naan and salsa from the chef. Not my favourite, but everything we ordered was amazing. Starting with what could be better, don't go for the squid rings. But, we then had amazing foie gras ( could've served more jam though) , yummy patatas, excellent garlic butter prawns with olive oil, and pork! Oh..it was succulent and heavenly.
The Spanish wine did full justice to the meal.
I'd visit again to try out the rest of the menu.
Great lounge, staff and music, food is good too
Staff is very attentive and courteous and give great recos on menu items. The cocktails were well prepared and one has to give it for the music in the place. It was amazing. I just wish that this was the club in the house now. We had mostly non veg fare except for the patata bravas. All items were flavourful and well prepared. Awesome selection of wines. We went in for the cheapest selection (as cheap as 800 bugs can be) and we weren't disappointed. It turned out to be a great pick. All in all a great experience. Pricey yes, but not over the top.
Good, not great veg fare
Started with a blue cheese made starter, could not change my views on blue cheese-never liked it-never will. They replaced it with artichokes with mayo sauce (free of cost!) which was not bad. Then came patatas bravas -bloody over in around 2 minutes- starters made of potatoes topped with a yummy sauce. Amazing!
Then came a dish was some sort of a cheesy rice with artichokes-not bad.
ended the meal with creme catalana-what a beauty!do try
in all i will say arola is good for a veg fare provided you know what to try.honest reviews will help.
service was excellent.staff was very courteous.sapna-the girl who served me was sweet.
i give this one 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
my addvice is dont experiment much with veg fare-read honest revies and go
I had really been looking forward to trying out the new Spanish restaurant in town but was disappointed. Let's start with the good.... the gazpacho, patatas bravas and g&t were all superb, the pork loin was ok... I only wished we had stopped there. The meat sharing platter was just about okay... although the beef used was so ropey that we actually left most of it (and I never leave food). The paella tasted like something out of a packet that we would have eaten in the 80s (does anyone remember Vesta?!) and the Spanish member of our group agreed with my comments! As for mains, we ordered a pork loin dish to share between two of us.... and the waitress didn't even think to advise us that this really would not be enough for two as a main! What came was a small plate of very thinly (I mean carpaccio thin) sliced pork loin pieces... and although tasty enough... it really wasn't a main course. In a restaurant like this staff should really be trained to point this sort of stuff out. Our companions ordered revuelto de patatas y jamon which they left most of as it was simply awful and tasted like it had sugar in it! We gave up there... finished off the gins and left.... and you know what? At no point during the evening did anyone even ask us if we had enjoyed our meal! This is a newly opened restaurant and supposed to be classy... some things were right, some were badly wrong... but not asking guests whether they had even enjoyed their meal, well, that truly put the icing on the cake for me!
Electric Mix of Spainish Food and a GIN Bar !!!!!
Nadal fan and Spanish Football team fan Finally got a hidden Gem which brings together the best ingredients of delightful tapas jointly with Great varieties of Gin and the Cocktails which is styled with plenty of SPANISH swagger and attitude.
Went in Twice to the place.... once with a Special friend and once with the entire office colleagues(Sporting Ace) to celebrate a friends farewell.
It seems like modern twist on classy dishes as well as a great selection of wines to wash it down with, come here to seriously impress a date or a toast a special occasion or just casual, the place fits in to all moods and thats why i would recommend the place.
Never seen the staff who can easily strike good conversation .....it really adds to the wide spectrum of Classy service as the food menu comprises of Spanish Dishes please ask for help if you are not a PRO in selection of dishes. As the staff is friendly and they understand their menu very well.
Be prepared to be amazed and descend into a world where nothing is out of bounds at this top GIN bar.
Cocktails were perfectly made and the bar really brings the much needed sunshine to Mumbai with Spanish charm.
With a grande decor, intriguing drinks and clientele to match, AROLA is the perfect venue to let your imagination run wild and experience the unexpected.
Thanks to the Entire Staff to make my visit truly a memorial ones......Keep on rolling the great food, drinks and and of course the not mentioned music which we all night crawlers thrive on !! Cheers AROLA !!! Cheers !!
Not there yet
The restaurant has a great setting with warm colors, nice dark uniforms, bar layout and trendy table set (with Chilewich placemats).
But it is not enough to cover the poor service quality.
- The menu is not explained, so you end up ordering too little
- The reservation has a standard policy to inform you that the restaurant is full, yet there are always tables available.
- The grooming policy is smart casual, but you find converse shoes + tee next table
- The wines listed are not all available
- The bread took 43 mins to come to the table
- The selected wine took 31 mins ( first bottle not available, second bottle the cork was broken and wine temperature above 20'C, third served only at main course)
- The manager has not attended the "how to handle a guest complain" class
Consequently, after a pricy offer and a loud atmosphere, I would NEVER go back and can't imagine recommending it.
They have not done the opening properly and clearly trainings are lacking.
All that Glitters is not GOLD!
hey guys...went to Arola (new Spanish Restaurant) to celebrate my birthday last night. Was disappointed with the vegetarian spread...well.. cant call it a spread as i had just 2 starters to choose from...!(the remaining few starters made of aubergines n mushrooms). The restaurant serves only starters and alcohol..nothing like a main course!! We dont drink either..so we could feel the staff feeling sorry for us...to the point...one of them actually insisted us to try their huge variety of Gins! But the ambiance was good and good music..friendly place..best suited for those who wanna drink more n eat less...!
