Perfect set up for romantic Candle light dinner facing the Arabian sea. Just when I though I could not have asked for a better set up.Do order Zamaican Chicken & Maxican Paya.Food is very delicious and they offer a good variety of meals.
Service can be between average and very good, depending how crowded it is. no big on the SUN DOWN parties as thats the only time this classy place turns hippie

Ambeince Good Food Okay

We went to Aurus on a dry day. So there was not much of an option available, However on the food part. We had specifically told that we need spicy stuff, There was 1 starter which was okay and the other one recommend by the staff was not at all spicy and had coconut all inside out.

To add to this when the bill arrived we were charged for the bottle of water. Which was specifically informed that we wanted regular water. The staff did not even bother to remove the charges when bought the same to their notice.
We paid for it. however not a good customer service provided. The main course was okay and patable...

Since the ambiance was great but effeminately not for the food, Other than the main course we had Still for us to come back to the place.

Please suggest good things when some one ask for the recommendation.

sassy all the way

We had the a la carte dinner menu and the waiter Giles was very good at checking with us exactly how we wanted our food to taste and that is exactly how it was delivered. Top marks for a great service. Giles added gratis desserts which was a lovely gesture. Nice to see such pleasant and hearty service in Mumbai - unusual for India - but definitely comparable to other world class restaurants elsewhere.

It was our Anniversary, thinking where to go as we were late, but searched through burrp and decided to go to this place, it was amazing in terms of ambience, climate an food.. Luckily got the table just in front of sea shore... Just due to sunburn festival being shifted to some other venue...service was excellent and what else to say simply superb...

beach high

This was the first place I visited in Mumbai and I was just speechless with the view. Situated on the beach side, this is a perfect place for a romantic evening ( specially if you get the beach facing tables). Dim lights, subtle interiors just add to the romantic mood.

I don't remember the food we ordered( it was long time ago) but the only thing I noticed was that the quantity was on the lower side in most of the dishes. Drinks were reasonably priced and yes not to forget, best mojito i have had in Mumbai.

It might be heavy on your pocket but definitely worth a visit.

The perfect place for a cozy evening. Aurus is super amazing, the ambience is beautiful, sea-facing, open-air, wow! It's on the expensive end but it's all worth the ambience. I simply love this place and it tops my list of favourites! Every one must check this place out!! Sundown parties were supperb. Waiting for the sundown season to start soon with new artists new talents. Also hope the management start with a more variety of jain food in its menu.

Amazing Aurus!

We visited Aurus (almost 2 years ago) for the brilliant location but came back pleasantly surprised with amazing food for the senses.

Vicky Ratnani was the consultant Chef at Aurus at that time. So am sure that the scrumptious food had a lot to do with him.

A lot has already been written about the ambience, the location so no point in talking about it.

Had a great experience and would love to visit again.

Ambience at its best

Visited the place on a weekday evening as a part of my first dinner date, difficult to locate since it didn't have a big signboard announcing its location, A call to the management and we got a valet parking,
The staff was corteous to suggest an excellent wine for the evening, ordered calmari starter, the dish got delayed so an alternative was provided on the house for the wait.
Ambience is excellent, decor is soothing.
Food a bit on the expensive side, But the excellent. Both of us loved it, and plan to visit it soon.

Good experience

I am a big fan of Aurus and make it a point to be there for any special occasion. What I love most is the sensually lit interiors and the food is just too good. They have added a few new dishes to their menu and in my last visit I tried the black cod. I loved it and am tempted to visit the place soon and try it again. I would recommend this place highly. At Aurus, an absolutely opulent experience is what you are looking at.

Mind Blowing

The first time I visited Aurus was earlier this year and on a weekend, when they were hosting the Sunset Grills. I tried out New Zealand Lamb Chops and they were simply mind blowing! I was there again last month and tried out ‘Raw Mango Martini’. It’s something which I had never tried before and again went home with a happy experience. Everything about Aurus is just about perfect, making it one of the best restaurants in the city.

Amazing food and ambience

Ideal place for a romantic date,’ that’s how I would describe Aurus. It’s so very Mediterranean. The food is quite good, but the ambience added to it, makes the overall experience superb. I was there on a weekday with my husband, and he too loved it. We ordered for veg risotto and also pasta. We both liked the food as its rare these days to be served good vegetarian Italian food.

Best Service In the City!

After an initial few hiccups while making a reservation, the manager (Julian) did a fantastic job in working towards living up to the age-old adage of "Customers come first". And that was just the first step towards their team making it a memorable evening (and Mother's Day for my mum) at one of the most peaceful, scenic and beautiful restaurants in Mumbai. I would highly recommend the lamb sliders and the salmon with cous cous was very well done. They even made up for the mishap with the reservations by offering free dessert. Good food, better ambience and the best service I have seen in a long long time! If you're ever in Maximum City, you need to experience this restaurant for maximum bliss!!

I regularly follow Chef Vicky's TV show and was always wanting to try his food at Aurus. We made a reservation and were seated at the deck. The view was amazing but carry a jacket or shawl during the cooler months, the sea breeze blows quite strong sometimes. Coming back to the food, absolute delicious we ordered Lamb Shank and it was an absolute treat to the palate. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Aurus and we are definitely going back there.

Great food but no value for money

Ok, I understand fine dining and gourmet food, but I do not understand why one simple appetizer and the cheapest house cocktail should set me back by Rs. 1100 plus taxes. The place is top-notch, hands down! The ambiance speaks for the opulence and for a regular Mumbaikar, it can be an intimidating affair. Nevertheless, Aurus is best described as a surreal reality, an aspirational restaurant, and for some food connoisseur s a gourmet delight.

Going through the cardboardish menu, we ordered a salmon/crab patty, feta and pumpkin wraps, along with a sangria, two beers and a rose wine. Although good, the portions were tiny and really not worth the money being charged. They do load u up on an assortment of breads, but that's at best the only thing that makes up for a pricey affair.

I will give it to Aurus for a memorable night, which was not largely a given of their food but for the company and sea side view. Service was notably good, and that's about it.

Verdict: If you do not mind shelling out, you will love this place, no doubt.

Arrogant and Pricey

If you wanna bump into 'wanna be' crowd, this is the place. It's a full house on Friday night that's banging with people with their nose up in the air. Though each one tries to be better than the other, the staff takes the cake by being the most arrogant than the most known guest in the club.
The food is alright, not value for money at all and service.... so bad that you'd rather not hear my comments.

Perfect Dining !

Went there Saturday 20/08/2011..table for two (indoor)..
Called them at 9:15 pm was arranged a table by the time I reached 9:40pm (Manager: RIZWAN)...

AMBIANCE was great as Aurus has very well done up interiors.
Restaurant was not too crowded, and music was not too loud either (soft lounge/house music).
The SERVICE was impeccable. Right from taking down my order, suggestions, checking up on me, and customizing the dish to my taste right upto execution was just perfect.
The FOOD itself was very well cooked. Great Presentation. I had the seared steak (indian) and the sauce accompanying the steak was delicious. It was a perfect medium-well done tenderloin as I had asked for.
My friend had the fresh pomfret which was actually FRESH and also tasted very good (great marination, sauce and other extras on the plate)

It is slightly on the EXPENSIVE side but fine dining always comes with a cost, Always, so be prepared.
Total DAMAGE for two including two main course entrees (1.) steak and 2.) pomfret) and one fresh lime mocktail Rs. 1800 with tax etc.

My server ROOSEVELT was very well versed with dishes on the menu and did a great job at helping us pick the right dishes.

Special mention for their complimentary bread basket, the bread in there is fresh and delicious of different varieties, something definitely I will savor and remember until my next visit :-).

Hope the review helps. Thank you.

Expensive though Beautiful Interiors..

Went here yesterday ,Firstly finding this place on ones own ain't easy, simply cause they don't have a board outside .One needs to call up and ask where its located .
Here's my rating as per my opinion---

A] Interiors-Beautiful for sure it looks more like a fine dinning place ..But they need to put bar stools and not sofa like chairs there ..
B]"EXPENSIVE to the CORE" ..I mean Looking at the menu ,if u are a budget type of person Its expensive for "SURE"..
C] On a saturday night this place lacks good music as well as crowd ..

Wouldn't go here Again...

Awesome food, but slightly expensive..

This is one of my favorite joints because of the food, the ambiance & the muzik. Now where to start - every friday night the place is in a different high..the drinks are slightly expensive but where isn't when you step out for clubbing....a decent mojito is priced @ approx 400 bucks and shot of 30ml jameson would cost around 350 (approx including taxes)

I just love the food here..the jumbo prawns & rosemary chicken are to die for...the meal is really delicious & filling...I don't like the deserts thought, as they screwed by new york cheese cake..but all in all you won't be disappointed if you try the sea-food or chicken here..my veggie friends didn't look much happy thought..

For the ambiance, the place cannot be perfect - just next to the beach, interiors are given attention to detail...at the same time, the place has a overall relaxin & sexy vibe to enjoy the night...they might be a little strict @ the door, I would say make a reservation for the dinner & enjoy the evening...

Our overall damage for food & round of 2 drinks cost us around 4k (3 people for dinner & 2 for drinks)

Share:

nice ambience, but...

.... food less than average. The risotto and the gnocchi were compared to real Italian food and compared to other pub-restaurants in Mumbai really poor. I am from Europe (of Indian origin) and have visited many Mumbai restaurants which offer same food and must really say, that this has to be improved. Nice is the atmosphore and the long drink (Cuba libre) I had. Also the music was good, which actually attracts the different crowd of Mumbai. If the owner wants them to stay at Aurus, he should really offer value for money, otherwise I think it will be difficult to stay alive with this concept, since many more like this are already there and will come up.

The place I would recommend to visit after dinner. Home food is better.

Share:

PATHETIC EXPERIENCE

Considering the hype created about aurus thought of having dinner at this so called classy fine dining restaurant.. To start with when i checked in a 9 : 00 pm , the air conditioning was not functioning at all . When we informed the waiter about the same, he said he would turn it on.. still the condition did not improve.. had to remind them a couple of times to switch on the ac and was then informed that due to technical snag the ac is partially functional and will be rectified soon. Finally when the crowd started coming in at 11:00 pm the ac started working fine.. Wonder if it was intentional of not switching on all the ac's when the crowd in the restaurant is less. If that is so, then thats really sad because the amount that one pays to dine is nothing less than 1000 per person .
Then came in the stuffed button mushrooms, strictly not for the Indian Palate, as it is bitter & pungent.

To compensate , they offered a complimentary dessert - cheese cake.. Restaurants need to understand that a complimentary dessert is no solution for bad experience in a expensive and classy restaurant. One has to get it right at the first time..

Arrogant staff! Stay away!

I got one thing to say: WHAT-IS-WITH-THE-ATTITUDE!
I'm a Delhiite and we got loads of places that charge more than this, cos we like to spend for a good time baby!
But what the flip was this? The waiters and the staff made us feel like we're intruding in some way! HELL-O?! Is it a restaurant? You expect people to come? I dont care if you got Hrithik Roshan coming in or Mel Gibson! I'm a VIP to me and I pay for it. You wanna keep this place exclusive for celebs, might as well put up a sign saying, 'Only known public faces permitted'! My mom's family own 3 restaurants in Delhi and I've grown up with the restaurant business. Never before have I seen such arrogance and snobbishness in the staff of an eating joint! I would never recommend this place to my friends. We, as guests, like to be pampered! Not ignored!
Here's my 2 cents for an evening screwed up the overrated 'Aurus'!s

Share:

Not worth the price tag

This place is definitely not worth the price tag. I visited this place a few months back (December I think). Waiters and usher are completely obnoxious. They should give their usher a lesson in humility. I went there with my wife. Deck was full as usual! Enough said about that. Waiter was least concerned about serving people, even though there were only two tables filled.

To top it all their great chef managed to drop a corner of a aluminum satchel into our already oh-not-so-great food. I do not remember the dish. Only face saving fact was that they managed to not charge us for the dish which we returned.

It is much better to try out Vie lounge than Aurus. AVOID at all cost.

Good Ambiance - but snobbish waiters.

It was friday night and I had heard a lot about Aurus as a friday night party place. So me and my friends reached Aurus after watching a movie at Infiniti. We were hoping to have some good food, nice drinks and enjoy the party mood.

The place has a good crowd and is known to be frequented by beautiful people. But we ran into the snobbish attitude as soon as we got the car parked (no help here) and entered the place. The food was decent but surely not very memorable especially given the pricing. No one was at hand to ask whether we needed anything more or to quickly clear the plates once done. I can't say much about the drinks as I didn't have any (I was driving that night). I came out feeling that the only attraction here is the crowd and the ambiance.

Mr Mankaran Johar is trying hard to suggest that his servers/waiters are not snobbish - but surely so many people can't lie. This place can be very nice for people like us (non-celebrity types) if only the service was better. All said, I think it merits atleast one visit - just for the ambiance.

Enticed by the idea of seaside dining I visited Aurus for dinner. Big mistake. The waiters were useless, did not know the menu or the drink lists at all. Dinner at Aurus was a let-down

Service - let down, the server had no idea about the menu and what to recommend, as usual everything was "good" according to him

Starters - The stuffed mushrooms were good but would be better on a childrens birthday party menu and not on a fine dine menu. Definitely not worth the 410/-

Mains - Lasagne & Champagne Risotto were extremely ordinary, several middle rung restaurants in bandra do these so much better than Aurus. At 580/- plus taxes each, definitely not worth it at all.

Finally, go to Aurus for the view, vibe and chill with a couple of drinks but definitely give the food a skip. Im giving 2 stars just for the food that did not live up to expectations.

Exhorbitant is an understatement

Well, sea-side is so pseudo .... sea almost seems like a km away and you cannot even view it from the tables you are seated. The decor though is classy.

Waiters can get some education on wines and communication.

I took two friends out on my birthday and the tiny portions of pretentious food and imported wines cost me in 5 digits. Menu lacks an exhaustive listing and all i remember eating as part of a veg platter was egg plants. OMG! Like didn't they have any other vegetables? I have had better dining and wining experience both in terms of food, ambience and class at other places. Not a place to spend your hard earned money. I would recommend 'Vie' or 'Out of Blue' anyday.

p.s. Though you may get to bump into Amisha Patel; she was there the day we decided to dine at this EXHORBITANT place.

An ok experience

Went to Aurus on a saturday night after being recommended by a friend. The Maître d wasnt courteous or polite. We asked him if there were any tables on the deck and he looked at us and with loads of attitude said, "No, outside is always full sir!!" That attitude of his turned us off totally! But we stayed coz we had to wait for someone else to join us there..
He seated us inside and after waiting 20 min and noone waiting on us, we had to call one of the servers. Everytime we wanted someone we always had to look for the servers and call them....and the restaurant wasnt even that busy.
We ordered 4 drinks (2 cocktails), one chicken appetizer a and the spinach and cheese ravioli main course. Being fair to the chef and bartender, the food and the drinks were good. But no way am i going back there. Respectful staff in combination with good food is very easy to find elsewhere..

We are very sorry that you were made to feel uncomfortable at our restaurant. The outside seating does get full through reservations, and so I would request you to make a reservation before, however there is no excuse for how you were spoken to and I sincerely apologize.
The inadequate attendance of our staff is absolutely not acceptable by us, and I can assure you that we will address this matter immediately.
Thank you for your Feedback, and we hope you’ll give us another chance

Awesome Place

Been to this place recently, really liked this place(especially their open section). Ambiance, food, service is good.
To enjoy this place with Arabian sea breeze obviously we have to pay five star hotel rate for drink n food. ;)

Nice place for a quiet dinner

Me and my husband went there for dinner on a saturday night. The outside area which is sea facing was booked but otherwise the inside area wasn't full. The decor is nice, cozy and stylish. But I felt it looked a bit too busy.

We ordered 2 cocktails - Havana sling and Tropical Siberia. They were both well mixed and quite potent. But you should ask for less ice or else the quantity of the cocktail becomes less with the glass filled with so much ice. For appetizers we tried the giant calamary frites.. it was quite tasty! And the main course - grilled chicken breast with rosemary sauce was really good. It came with mashed potato and mushrooms on the side and dinner rolls. It was quite filling for both of us. It was overall a good experience.. Won't mind going there again.

I had gone with frens to this place on a Friday nite, we had a prior booking otherwise its difficult to get place to seat. Music is good too...u can dance anywher u like...thers no dance floor as such..
Gr8 and decent and nice looking crowd!!!

VERY ROMANTIC PLACE.

I took my wife to this place last night for dinner as it was our wedding anniversary....

I did a prior reservation....We reached the place arnd 8:30pm...As soon as we entered the place it was like wow....The place was properly lit and the passage walk was amazing experience....

We were welcomed well...We decided to take the seating outside as it is open outside(non ac) and u can actually view d beach...it was romantic...

We ordered 2 mocktails...kiwi margarita and aurus special...it was authentic...d kiwi drink was so natural...d aurus special was more like pinacolada(although it has guava)....

Starters we went for some very good dish...dnt remember the name...lol....but it was xclnt....

We didn't go 4 d main course or desserts....

I liked their washroom a lot(lolzzz)....its excellent....

Cons: - it is super duper expensive.....the quantity of food is very less.....

But, its a must go place once in the lifetime....

Lives up to its name....

As you walk into Aurus, the first thing that crosses your mind is “Man, this place reeks of sex appeal!!”
The ambiance is definitely one of the best in Mumbai. The service is decent, the food is mind-blowing!! The pasta was perfect – not too sticky, not too chewy – just perfect. And the crowd was really good too, though many of them looked like they had something that didn’t smell nice under their noses!!
A bit expensive (4 of us rounded up a bill of 9K approx) but definitely worth the visit for the ambiance and the food!!! Oh, and they do conjure up some really nice cocktails.

But they took so long for bread

Nice Place .... Nice view of the sea with the moon reflecting off the waves .. we went there last saturday ...

The drinks are expensive (between 400 to 500bucks for a cocktail)but good.
Starters & Mains were good.
But during the main course, they took a good 10minutes to replace a portion of bread and almost had to be walked up to for the glasses to see some water.
But maybe it was a Saturday and they were understaffed. Btw, Hrithik Roshan was there that night and the ladies with us were sure excited.

4 of us - 6 drinks, 2 starters, 4 main courses - 5700bucks .... not exactly cheap
[It was saturday night and they had tables to spare; so dont buy their book-in-advance-or-die advice :)]

Expensive but awesome drinks, nice vibe. I had a good Grey Goose martini. Their deck is amazing. The only negative is - you literally need to locate it. It is hidden and unless you are a local to the city - you might miss it.

Expensive.. but Fantastic

Excellent food all around. Appetizer, the special bite that was prepared by the chef -- excellent. The lasagna -- wow. The pasta -- thinnest & softest ever. I feel like its better than even Italian family-owned places I've eaten in the past.

Expensive, but if food is all you focus on, you will not go wrong here.

Aurus has a cool Aura ;)

One of the best lounges in the city with a wonderful sea view !

The place requires a prior reservation and is worth it when you get a sea facing couch. Aurus has an exhaustive wine, spirits, cocktails, cigar list which easily compares with the best in town.

We opted for Plum & Cranberry cocktail (Bacardi based) which was very well made ! The plums were fresh and did add the zing to the drink. With the cuisine being mostly continental, the fresh salads are not to be missed ! We opted for Peppered cottage cheese and charred pineapple which was exceptionally well made.

We skipped the appetizers for the main course and ordered Vegetable & Brie filled home made pasta ! The herb sauce with it was amazing and the bread basket (multigrain, tomato basil, olive etc) was a treat to devour ! Rounded off the meal with an excellent made Tiramisu.

Worth mentioning is the no fuss policy of the staff, they dont bother you all and let you enjoy the evening with ample privacy !

Was a great experience and would never hold back temptations to be there again !

Bon Appetite`
Ravi !

Not up to the mark for beacfront property...

Outdoor seating area built right off the beach is almost a perfect setting; I say almost because the place looks rather contrived with its modern lounge look as opposed to blending in naturally with its immediate aesthetic surrounding.
No comments on food since I did not eat here.

Aura - Itself is an Aura

Aurus takes fine dining to a higher level. Being very well located Aurus enjoys the sea view and the dim-lit tables makes for the perfect romantic setting.

The cuisine is continental, with the chef devoting all of his enrgies to preparing the perfect dishes, I've never met a more dedicated man. Every table gets a specially designed appetizer, mine was mushroom with a salsa like dressing and cheese.

Please be warned that the use of cheese in the menu is overwhelming so for those on a diet, keep this meal for a sunday. [ha ha]

The starters we tasted were delicious, the prawns, my favourite were in 2 styles, one with masalas more familiar. The baby lobster took home the medal, with scoring high in presentation and taste. Though the barbeque chicken on lemon grass was also fantastic.

They bake their own breads so be sure to order a bread basket and try to control indulging in the butters and cheese spreads on the side.

As an aperitif i was served the red wine sorbet that actually helped enhance my appetite which was good since the pomfret stacked high up on a bed of noodles, was too much for me to digest. The food was delicious and the desserts even better. Caramel custard sat on a base of strawberries which was a unique combination and went down just as well.

Arrogant and discriminating

I visited this place for dinner today and they wouldn't let me in since I had my son who is 9 months old, stating that they have a "no child policy". Considering the place was empty this didn't make any sense to me. It is prohibited by law to discriminate againist any customers especially those with children under India law. I'm never visiting this place again.

Excellent ambience!!

Went to Aurus on my birthday with my girlfiriend. Though the place had been reserved well in advance (8:30 to 11:30 slots) we were lucky enough to get a seating outside as we booked it for 7:30. The outside lounge is truly amazing!!. And it's candlelit so it kind of worked well for me :) . The inside seating layout could've been a bit better though i guess. It's just a staright long row. Also, It's on the expensive side. To give you a brief idea... We ordered a cocktail and two small white rums along with a avodaco starter and were hit for 1.5 k. All in all I would say a really apt place for special occasions.

We could have been in the Maldives....BUT..

great location, great cocktails, great food, great ambience BUT the same old fateful letdown that ALMOST EVERY single Mumbai restaurant gets SO SO wrong..... a winelist with half of the wines "not available sir". For God's sake, reprint winelists when your stocks change or you run out of them, I ordered 4 wines last night before they actually had one in stock AND my other pet HATE.... when waiters say "but this wine is available sir" and it's twice the price of the original wine I chose. Mumbai restaurants, and that is almost every single one of you, get your winelists in order!!!

Great Place

First i looked up on burrp! to see what this place had to offer, i was really looking for the menu because the night was planned around dinner. From the reviews i got an idea of what the dining experience would be like. The place was simply amazing, great decor, great service, good food and i like how the exterior is now closed and air conditioned. The music was awsome too. Def recommend this place! for a good dinner, not a place to go on a Friday though (too crowded with hooligans and bunch of drunk people)

Different but expensive; too loud

The starters were kind of unique and so was some of the food. The Salmon I got wasn't that great but the pasta my wife got was a great mix of Indian and Italian, aniseed flavored. Oh I almost forgot, it was supposed to have crab in it and I think we found about 2 small pieces in the whole plate (well they do give a lot if pasta :)) Music was too loud if you expect to actually have a dinner where you can talk.

GREAT PLACE

First impression is the last impression...as soon as you enter, the aura of the place is awesome. The ambience is too good. Very Very Romantic Place. Great food, specially the starters. Staff is very warm & cordial.
Just for strict vegetarians the choice is limited (But trust me whatever they have is too good)

Rocking place to sip a few on the rocks

Contrary to popular belief, the tag line 'house by the sea' actually goes fantastically well with the ambiance of this place. Cool breeze, the soothing sound of waves and the candle lit setup is just so apt for an alcoholic date. I actually felt like getting drunk on the Jack & Coke (s). Will make it a point to come back with my wife the next time I am in Mumbai with her.

Share:

No sea view at all!!

This place is no comparison to Salt Water grill.... Though i wont rate the food that bad and the wine list is pretty nice but hey where is the seaview? All the sea side deck is covered by crowds who just walked in minutes ago to the restaurant for a drink! While we booked for a table some two weeks in advance so that we can sit under quiet starlit sky and look at the sea and spend some romantic time in an exclusive place, what we got is a table for two that was surrounded by a thousand standing crowds... so all we could see were ppls backside, almost about to hit our table and topple off the wine glasses! On the toher side is this loud group of girls whose laughter riot will send us into a tizzy. So my hubby, who came here on my reccomendation now thinks its just like the other sae side lounge which is just down the road. I would rahter go there and stand by the deck and not bother about booking a table in weeks before and still get the same ambience! I must say it again... there is no other place as romantic as the Dome or the Salt Water Grill and Aurus can never asprire to reach there if they cant maintain there exclusivity. Also would like to mention the service in these places are way better than the service in Aurus. SO guys dont ever think of going there for a quite date cause all u get is lot of noise and lots of bums to see( if u r sitting down for a dinner )....Am appalled to see what they have done to their ambience!

Class...The Priority We Need

Went here on a Friday with some mates...was easy to find the place..although I never hand over my car to the Valet...had no option...the roads are full of parked cars already..the place was quite crowded by 11pm....We had some drinks..which were priced moderately...like all the other good clubs.
The crowd was also really sophisticated....loved the setup..italian interiors with a great ambiance...the international dj was spinning some great house n progressive..which he eventually spun to trance..
The place did get over crowded a bit though....but thats what you get if Aurus has every element of a nice nightout at...

So...ya lads...the place is class...with every department up to date...thumbs up!

Swanky and all... but

Aurus is one of my favourite places to lounge around and hang out with friends over a few drinks. The ambiance is fantastic, the drinks are stiff, the food is lip-smacking, they're open till 2ish these days and the music .. errr... there isn't a dj and they kinda play whatever... but then who cares when you are busy catching up with friends, right?

I had one bad experience here last weekend though. I was there on Saturday, having a few drinks with friends at the bar. A little past midnight (or was it 1?) we got hungry and wanted to order some starters. We called the waiter for the food menu and he said the kitchen was closed. We obviously didn't mind and decided to end up at the egg bhurji guy near cooper hospital (yet again!!) once we had finished with our drinks. Though a few minutes later, some really fishy looking girls (if you know what i mean) came and sat down at a table. The manager came by in a bit (and perhaps asked them to leave). Something convinced him to let them stay AND order from the food menu. We obviously had a problem with that and they eventually got us some food too. Too light-headed to be bothered we finished up and did move on to bhurji pav guy nonetheless. :) :) :)

We got over the hang-over the next morning but the dent in Aurus's impression stays.

Funtastico

Went to Aurus with a few friends last Saturday for some casual drinks. I had heard good things about the splendid beach views and the ambiance and was pleasantly surprised to see it come true.

It is a combination of an indoor/outdoor venue. Even though the place was packed with people, still there was enough space to move about. The crowd was okayish.

I had a couple of Jack with Cokes. The drinks were stiff and made just right. (I've been to places where they f*ck up even something as basic as a Jack and Coke).

The place is in the flight path and every few minutes you can hear a plane flying above. I love planes, so didn't mind it at all.

Overall, I loved the place and it's vibe. Will go there again!

When u wanna make it special

Went to Aurus for dinner last week... was quite floored by the place. The food was excellent and the ambiance was awesome.
It overlooks Juhu beach and they have an outdoor seating place (covered in the rains) - which makes the setting almost perfect for a quiet meal with special people.

+ve
The service was v good, letting you be - but alert incase of need - with complete knowledge of the specials. Food was v good - desserts excellent.

-ve
The interiors looked a little grandiose.
Mosquitoes outside
The jalapenos n cheese starter, quite disappointing.

VFM Rating - Food+Setting+Service 8/10

Overall verdict - 8.5/10.

Damages - Rs. 2-2.5K per person.

Hint - Book in advance, book the corner table outside overlooking the beach.

Awesome Italian Restaurant!

Well... I had gone with my parents and more people to Aurus, in Juhu.. (Though people below 18 arent allowed, we made a special request and they allowed me!). The ambience is really pleasant and there is a candle burning at the center of teh table and the lighting is very subtle and nice... Well, going to the drinks.. I had a drink which was made of kiwi (dont rememebr the name, but it was the most expensive one. for 200 or something... :P) It was pretty good.. Going on to the main course.. I had this dish which had mashed potatoes on the side, chicken topped sun dried tomato sauce... it was scrumptious to say the least. i truly loved it.. The service is really good and the waiters are really kind. The most expensive dish in the main course is a duck breast dish costing Rs 2000!!! The bathroom is really cool... The wash basin has pebbles.. :)

Anyway going on to the desert, the cream brulee was not at all good. i remember very well that it was for Rs 400, but it tasted like caramel custard. dont go for it.. we didnt like it and then we chose to order the lindt cake.. IT WAS THE BEST CAKE EVER!!!

Overall Aurus was a really good experience...

Great Modern European Menu

This is hands down the best meal I have ever had in Mumbai, and it ranks as one of the best I have ever had globally as well. Atmosphere, service, wine, tableware, food courses, dessert....everything was done exceptionally. The chef told us he trained in New York and brought his knowledge back with him to India to open Aurus.

I highly recommend it.

Due to construction in the neighborhood, the sign is not visible from the street, so when you make your reservation, make sure you get a couple of landmarks to help you find it. We used the Reid and Taylor, and Anita Dongre Showrooms and we didn't have any trouble finding it.

Townie attitude in suburban Mumbai

I reached Aurus on a Saturday night at 10 PM (without a reservation). After a 5 minute low down on how full they were with no tables till 11.30 PM, the door monkey finally decided to let us in and wait at the bar.

I must say the decor is very impressive - mood lighting, art deco loungey furniture and spacious tables with super comfy chairs. I especially liked the huge mirror that runs across the bar. We ordered drinks (frickkin' expensive) and looked around, and lo and behold - at least 60% of the tables were occupied by ghost patrons that ate invisible food. Or maybe they were just empty.

In the hour that we spent at the bar, not a single dinner patron entered the place. And we decided not to eat at this suburban joint with a townie attitude.

On our way out, the door monkey again gave us some spiel about his "second seating" starting at 11.30 PM "and that's when the people start pouring in", he said. Yeah, you wish.

You drove all the way out here for THIS?

I went to Aurus for the 1st time this past weekend and was instantly reminded of a Seinfeld episode. It's the one where the group drives for more than an hour to attend an entirely hum-drum party on Long Island. At some point in the party, another guest remarks to Jerry, "You drove all the way out here for THIS?"

While certainly not "Hum-Drum", I thought Aurus was definitely not what it was cracked up to be.

Pros:
- Overall, the ambeince of the place was pretty great - nice outdoor deck with an ocean view
- Well stocked bar with an extensive array of adult beverages
- Decent mix of people

Cons:
- It took almost 2 hours to get there!!!
- Located on the ground floor of what seemed to be an office building from circa 1986. If you stand on the aforementioned outdoor deck and looked back towards the bar, you could see the office building in all it's glory!
- RIGHT in the flight path of the international airport. This made things very noisy and distracting everytime a plane flew over (and that was literally every 5 minutes)
- Inexperienced/inept bar-staff (they found it wierd that I aksed for a cocktail onion with my Martini)
- Ghastly indoor section - badly lit and poorly laid out (indoor section came complete with Bandra/Juhu auntie-types indelicately stuffing their faces)
- Teeming with "tragically-hip" north-Bombay filmy types (think oversized sun-glasses at night just because it's the new trend)

I went to Aurus because it was a friend's birthday, but in general, I did not think this place was worth the drive all the way to Juhu. If you are looking for this atmosphere I can think of at least 2 places right in town (Saltwater Grill & The Dome) where you can get it without such a long list of "cons" attached.

Share:

chic, elegant, sexy

This new swanky restaurant and lounge on Juhu Tara Rd just oozes sex appeal. Dimly lit indoor/outdoor combination, excellent nuevo Moroccan cuisine, and a friendly wait staff makes this THE place to be seen at in the 'burbs.

I was here for a birthday party and got to mingle both inside and outside. I certainly prefer the outdoor area, right on the beach, facing the sea. The seating area outside is plentiful - white leather ottomans litter the floors around candle-lit tables. There is one uber-special table in the corner, reminiscent of a shikara or diwan type setup. Very nice.

Drinks were not as stiff as I would have liked them and the wait staff, although kind, was not the seasoned group of cultured professionals you might expect in this place. Wine list was nothing to write home about either. Having that said, they did make some good recommendations for alternatives to the normal stuff we are always consuming (Bacardi, Smirnoff, etc.). The extra-dirty vodka martinis were fabulous (ask for Grey Goose as your vodka).

We ordered some wasabi-rubbed grilled prawns with creme fraiche & creole potatoes with bleu cheese dressing - both were excellent.

All in all, there are way too many positives about this place to even subtract one half a star. One major warning: VERY expensive. This place will rock your wallet or purse, even for a few drinks.

move over vie

Wow. These guys just pulled the rug right under Vie's feet! Happened here on a Saturday night for some casual drinks and must say, the suburbs very best converge here for one fantastic scene. Sexy atmosphere, great-looking and fashionable crowd, perfectly lit, and an outdoor/indoor venue to kill for. Did not dine here, but if ever in this part of town, I don't see much of a reason to go elsewhere. The best part? No cover charge, friendly management that doesn't ask too many stupid questions, and the beautiful sea breeze. Can you beat it? Don't think so. Move over Vie, Aurus has arrived.

chill by the beach..

first time last night...
but for sure not the last time...

ambience is fabulous.. once your in and on the deck you feel like your in a place somewhere in miami or something.. nice comfortable seating.. open to the sky... but only one really chill out loungy table to sit on for hours... beautifully made!!(should have more of those)
your other option is to be seated at more comfy tables inside the airconditioned section which is usually packed as the bombay heat as we all know is soooo mild!!
good long and big bar so its easier to get your drinks, and not have to struggle..

staff is attentive.. which is excellent and some of them even showed a good eye for detail...like this one chappie came and arranged something which kept getting bumped into...

as i have not eaten there yet i will save that for the next time im there...
but all in all definately a place to party in the nights... DJ Pearl was spinning some killer house tunes yesterday so it was a great place to be... and oh!! its a good sounding restaurant too...

definately a must to go to...
