Comfort Food at 02:00 am
For all the foodies there is always a joint they know which is open at late nights. Which is their savior after a late night party.
This is one such awesome place where you get comfort food post 12 in the night. One of the most admired late night joints in south Mumbai- Bachelors is great food & some amazing desserts.
Their menu is extensive, majorly quick bites. Sandwiches, pizza, rolls, juices, icecreams & midnight desserts.
In summer they serve mangoes with fresh cream which is a their smoothest in hot weather. And in winters they serve Amazing Strawberry Cream which is super yummy & filled with fresh cream.
Their pizza are crisp & made to order, so is their sandwiches are rustic & filled with awesomeness.
Overall this place should not be missed.
Marine Drive = Bachelorrs!
Bachelorrs is one place I have religiously gone to every time I have visited Marine Drive and Chowpatty. It provides all kinds of yummy fast foods that you would want to have at 2AM. The sandwiches, juices and milkshakes are a must have! If you're a Mumbaikar, you have to be here!
Different Ice Creams on Marine Drive
This place has amazing variety of ice cream. Ice with flavors as green chilly are different though not tasty, but eating chilli ice cream is experience in itself. Food is not that great but juices and shakes are good. Best part is it is open till late at night so enjoy ice cream on marine drive late at night.
Nothing beyond chocolate shakes
There has always been a lot of hype about this place especially among the youngsters. One more reason why I find this place is very popular is because its open till late night.
Well, in term of food I had tried paneer roll and some other snack but was not much impressed. It was neither bad too but doesn't deserve a ride to south Mumbai.
I did like their chocolate shake which can be easily shared among two people.
So if you are a big fan of chocolate, do try their thick chocolate shake.
bachelors now needs to be married
The early days of bachelor were followed wit good food and amazing shakes and juice famous chilli ice cream.. But off late the quality of snacks is not like it used to be.. The quantity of juice and shakes has decreased with the increasing prices..but taste of chocolate shake is still the same..the fruit varieties go wrong sometimes..love the watermelon blossom is hearty..but I guess with time they need to grow may be in terms of new additions to menu..
Not Your Regular Trip to a roadside place.
This place looks small but Looks can be deceiving. This place is quite famous for its Weird Creations. Green-Chilly Ice-Cream is a thing to try but i m telling you this in advance that you are going need to take that home and use it as a prank on your family or friends. The Service isnt the Best. Sometimes the waiters are in a Jaldi to take your order. The Sandwiches are normal here. they are served with wafers. Nice.
Overall this place is a One-time Go atleast. Go try. ;)
Good but expensive juices
Not possible that you're from the city and you haven't heard of Bachelors. Famous for the chilly icecream initially and also for the juices, shakes and the signature 'strawberry and cream' ; this place is haunted by swanky cars. Slightly overpriced but good on quality and hygiene.
party in the night
bachelors which is situated at chowpatty is a place to visit late night. The place is equipped up with people after all the restaurants usually close down. The place is famous for their milk shakes and the chocolate shake is the best. Even the mango cream i tried once was good.the sandwich and the pizzas are ok
Amazing place for Late night chill..!!
Recently was there with my gang of friends at 2 in smack middle of the night with heavy rains and loud music in the car, enjoyed every bit of the hot and delicious Cheese Grill sandwich, ate all we could and thought of running away after the HUGE bill came, but @ 2 in night was worth it.
Ice cream not that great / pizza good
I've been to this place several times ... But never really enjoyed the ice cream that much. I prefer Naturals/ Gokul / Hagen Dazz to bachelors . I like the pizza they make... It's nice n crispy... Also the milk shakes are good. Especially chocolate milkshake with chocolate pieces. Parking is a big headache. Pricing is high. Its open till quite late in night. Vry popular icecream point in South Mumbai.
Their chocolate shake is to DIE for
The one thing that has me coming back time and again to bachelor is their chocolate shake - it tastes unlike anything I've ever tasted! Thick with huge chunks of chocolate floating about, it makes for one sinful dessert! The sandwiches here are great too - and unless you are a hog, you should split them with someone, my favourite is the aloo sandwich. The place isn't very clean but what do you expect from a roadside sort-of cafe? Plus it's Mumbai :P The service is quick but there isn't enough places to sit so it's more like a drive-in place. I am not sure how long it stays open but I think till late night.. If you're around the girgaun chowpatty area make sure you drop in and check this place out!
Bachelors - Best part about this place is its open past midnight. Large groups, families, and even couples frequent this place.
No ambiance here, plastic chairs and stools is all they offer. Though it takes lot of time to place order and the individual has to wait for almost 20-25 minutes to get the order....
Expensive place but its good once in a while.
Chahe cold coffee ho ya ho hot coffee, juice ho yaan ho koi bhi flavour ka milk shake, pizza ho ya sandwich, juice ho ya cold cocco.. find the quickest service at your car door... at nominal prices... Tasty n out of the world juice flavors are available here and also their ice creams are mesmerizing be it the Coconut or the Guava flavors!!!!!!
If you have a sweet tooth... you cannot afford to miss on Bachelor's fruit cream.... Its delicioussss....Especially the strawberry cream...thats my favourite!! It reminds me of the Mapro garden in Mahabaleshwar.. which has the best strawberry cream in the world!! N now there is Bachelor's to satisfy my craving. A glass filled with whipped cream & fresh pieces of strawberries... N its all yours.... Its Heaven!!
Try the sandwiches also!
I've been to Bachelor's twice now (once only with my wife and the next time with entire family: wife, dad, dada jee and brother) and were equally full and satisfied with the experience!
One misconception that I would like to clear about Bachelor's is that given the shakes and ice-creams is really good, it also serves some amazing sandwiches!!
Try the Masala Paneer sandwich which is mildly spicy and full of flavour or Paneer Tikka sandwich if you are the daring spicy types!
There are some decent rolls options as well: Pav Bhaji and Veg roll are tried and (my) burrp certified :)
Service is really good (TIP: read at end) and they provide heaps of tissues to keep your hands and car clean. Food is a bit on the expensive side but the overall experience is great!.
To quote my dad verbatim: It's great fun to be (at) Bachelor's! :)
Value for Money: 8/10
1) Park closer to the shop and waiters will be more attentive.
2) Plz don't litter the road. The waiters wil clean everything for you.
Best. Service. Ever
I have been there hardly like two times, and all the people know me. It truly describes what it is named. TRY THE CHILLY ICE CREAM! It burns your throat, pricks your ears and makes you sweat, and still its so good, followed by that have the chocolate shake, which I think is a little bit too pricey, but well its worth it. Simple formula. Chilly IceCream + Chocolate Shake, and you're sorted!
Not just for Bachelor's ;-)
Be it anybody from sobo or the suburbs, if its a long drive its directly to Bachelor's at Chowpatty. Best part about this place is its open past midnight. But I've heard the BMC have got strict about the timings, so reach before 12am.
Large groups, families, and even couples frequent this place. No ambiance here, plastic chairs and stools is all they offer. Everything they serve is a quick bite for which you don't need seating. Plus if you have your car, you can make that your table. This place is always crowded. If you tell the helping boy, he will even get your order to your car.
Strawberry Cream and Banana split are my favorites. The smoothies, Pav Bhaji and Snacks Platter are a hit too. Expensive place but its good once in a while.
Despite mad rush and struggle to get a waiter to take your order, no other place in Mumbai can give you the same feel as Bahelor's gives! Sandwiches, pizzas and shakes are the best! Mango shakes/seasonal options are just too good; Chic-choc shake is the best amongs the remaining shakes options. A little overpriced but surely a place to have some delectable food to complement SoBo visit!
Highly overpriced and inefficient staff
The prices of the icecream is very costly compared to the quality they provide to us. Even the quantity provided compared to the price is very less. The stuff is inefficient as it takes lot of time to place order and the individual has to wait for almost 20 minutes to get the order....
Overpriced for a Juice outlet by the road
This small lil shop snuggles itself comfortably on one of the best locations in Mumbai, It is only the location that makes this place continue. The prices of normal fruit juices are quite high, one could have 3 glasses elsewhere (any other juice outlet) for the money spent here.... In addition to that the juice is served in small plastic glasses which can hold not more than 3-4 gulps of juice in it.... Hence I say overly priced....
I liked the juice the actual product but the price and the quantity offered would make me think twice to go back here...... Unless you always want to be a "Bachelor"....
Avoid it !!!
This place used to be great for some late night snacks , ice cream , juices and shakes . Their strwaberry with cream and choco shakes were too good . But last few visits , we were disappointed with their food quality as well as the service . The cream of the "strawberry with cream" was stinking , the ice cream was okay but the choco shakes were too good . The service has been pathetic as has become a routine there . Quite often they will forget to bring some item you have ordered and even after reminders , it will take ages for it to come . The charges are on the higher side . Its a mystery why it remains so crowded . Definitely avoid it if you wanna try anything else than choco shakes and be ready for some poor service .
Good..but somethings missing!
Heyy Burrp..Thank you for featuring my review!! Love u Shiv Krishna...
Okk so now let's focus on this tiny lil juice centre come snacky place at chowpatty...
The Mango cream..well tastes yumm..the best I have ever eaten..
The Chocolate shake too is very well made..
But can't say that for the watermelon & sweet lime juice...they were sub standard..
The sandwiches too..ain't that nice..very very average..
What I really felt & observed in my last 2 visits was the lack of courtesy & warmth amongst their staff..the waiters & the watchmen..
Come on guys...u ain't doing us a favour by serving us...
Try & smile..it ain't very tough..
Especially when you are charging the customers well.....!
Highly over priced....But amazing Choco shake
Theres only one thing n one thing alone that i love at this joint...its the Chocolate milkshake...truly amazing...filled with chocolate sauce n grated chocolate...cost for normal shake..100 bucks n spl 130 bucks...little over priced...shud hav been somewhr 80-90...
Excellent place for after party stuffing
Mumbai has a healthy dosage of ice cream parlours but there isnt any place like Bachelors. When in college, we joked about Bachelors being a haunt for us eligible bachelors (even at 16 years of age we thought far beyond our age!). Recently, I had the opportunity of savouring the delicious ice creams after partying at Zenzi Mills.
Well known for its ice creams, it was the obvious choice. Besides ice cream, we also ordered a veg pizza and a paneer frankie. The pizza was great though the frankie was a bit too pungent for my liking. Loved the cheese on the pizza though not sure which one they used.
After the pizza came the ice creams which were yummy! I had the choco chip with cream, a heavy high calorie filled dessert, available only at Bachelors! The last few spoonfuls had to be pushed down the throat for I was not going to waste good dessert!
Overall it was a great meal and good ice cream as well! A bit on the expensive side is bachelors but the ice cream is worth the moolah!
Bachelor's most exquisitely defines the tastes of an urban Mumbaikar and a lot of the modern day restaurants could probably do a lot better-stealing off some recipes from these oldies.
Bachelor's easily wins the best tasting mango-cream, chocolate shakes and post-mid-night hang-out spot in Mumbai award. And they do it without all that Jazz, like a true "bhramachaari" (the original name) :P
Heavenly ice-cream and charmy
I love this place for dessert going back over Marine Drive after having dinner elsewhere. Sitting on plastic chairs close to the train fence, listening to the trains coming and going - conversation got interrupted, it's all part of the charm. Kesar Pista is one of my favorites. In the mango season I go mad for mango juice with pieces.
Lives up to the hype
This road-side joint garners most of its business due to the fact that it is open past midnight. And, more importantly, bang on the main road.
A friend of ours did us the 'favor' of ordering for us 'the most famous bachelorr's ice cream' and enjoyed our curses when we sampled the green chilli ice cream. Awesome stuff that, and pretty potent. Their other ice cream flavors were so-so.
Next visit would entail a sitaphal and a couple of juices - highly recommended by this old-time Mumbaikar friend.
Best mango cream...
It was a rainy evening - decided to drive down to Chowpatty with my family...including my 2 year old daughter...suddenly planned to have something at Bachelorrs' - ordered mango cream and sitaphal ice cream. Simply awesome stuff...made my Sunday (21st June 2009)...
The only area needing serious thought is the staff - they seem to have become a bit arrogant and discourteous. Thoda business jyaada aa gaya hai, aisa lagta hai mujhe...customer is the king is a motto they seem to have forgotten...
Small size Big Package
This place is stacked into a small "khacha" along the Railway line near Charni Road Station. But, it offers some of the best Sandwiches and the typical Mumbai Pizzas, loaded with AMul Chesse.
Their Must try is the Chocolate Milkshake, which has medium size pieces of Chocolate floating in it an the texture of the milkshake is just lovely.
Best Chocolate Milkshake
This tiny hole in the wall has so much to offer for the hungry at night. The pizza and icecreams are really good but the chocolate milkshake is absolutely divine. A touch on the expensive side compared to the other roadside eateries. Finding parking is also a lil tough, specially on weekends. But a must visit late into the night. Open till like 2 on some days.
excellent strawberry and mango creams
if u havent tried this then ur missing somethin u shouldnt
great choco shake..very high cals thought(but who cares)
yumm grilled sw and rolly polly pao bhaji(wat an idea)
service is a lil ok though(thts y just 4stars)
but still mumbais old fav for decades now
good going mr.arun agarwal
This place servers the most sinful strawberry cream. It sells like hot cake. Unfortunately because strawberry is seasonal you get the pleasure of having this only during that time. But its like addiction.
Its priced slightly steep, but honestly who cares!!! Very nattily these guys past 2 seasons have come up with 2 sizes init regular and large. Sadly the regular is little smaller than the earlier packaging but same priced.
But ultimately there is no denying no other place comes close to matching the strawberry cream that Bachelorr's serves.
I was heading to Kalaghoda with a group of buddies and was totally dehydrated in the Mumbai heat. We decided to stop by Bachelors to check out some of their juices.
We tried the Pomegranate juice and the Strawberry juice. Boy, they were lip-smackingly divine. The price for the Pomegranate was a bit steep at around 90 bucks. The Strawberry juice was reasonably priced at Rs. 34 or so.
Just ask them to not add any sugar or ice. Have your juices fresh and natural.
fantastically fresh, but freaking expensive!
Quick review here - stopped over here on a hot day's trip towards town for some fresh juice. Had heard so much about this place and then read the glowing reviews here, so decided to give it a try. Being the fitness freak, I didn't opt for their popular ice cream dishes, but did try a pomegranite juice. It was deliciously fresh - but the tab came out to be about 100 bucks! Wow, that's some expensive juice! Comrades had watermelon juice, equally fresh, and equally expensive. Be careful - this road-side stall has got a deceptively expensive menu :)
Best Ice Cream Ever!
Bachelorr's is really far away from my house, but whenever I get the opportunity, I go with my family.
They have the best tasting ice creams! This is nothing compared to their runner-up, Natural's or Gokul.
I specially love their strawberry's and cream. It is really big, @ about Rs. 80 . But it is truly divine. The cream and strawberries just melt in your mouth.
They serve a lot of innovative stuff, such as green chilli ice cream. I thought that it wont be so great.. I had a taste. I put the ice cream into my mouth and I thought that whats so great in it? It doesnt even have the chilli flavour! But then as the ice cream went into my throat, I had a helluva time which I wasnt expecting. It just sizzled in my throat. Its really deadly!!!
My mother had the ferrero roccher and toblerone ice cream (mixed).
The roccher ice-cream rocked. I'm sure they put real rocchers into it, because you could taste every part of the roccher. (the hazelnuts, the wafer layer, the chocolate part, everything) The toblerone ice-cream was OK.
After that, I had tasted the oreo ice cream. It had oreo biscuits in them. Really crunchy..
I noticed in the menu, that they've got a whole range of pizzas, sandwiches, chaat and the like. I also noticed an "Ice cream Bhel".
They said that the bhel had ice cream in it instead of the usual chutneys.
This small shack in chowpatty doesnt look like it can offer a lot, with local trains running behind it. But you shouldnt judge a book by it's cover. Just try it and you'll totally love it!
Fantastic Ice Cream at Chowpatty
Its been a long time since Ive relished a bowl of green chilli ice cream but the zestful taste still lingers on my tongue. Never before had I enjoyed eating ice cream so much. It was indeed a unique and passionate eating experience. Let me tell you about it.
I love ice cream. A friend of mine told me that there is a place opposite the Chowpatty Sea Face in Mumbai India that serves green chilli ice cream. I didnt believe him. I have savored myriad flavours of ice cream but green chilli ice cream seemed a bit far fetched. On questioning, my friend confessed that he had only heard about it, not eaten it himself.
The very concept of green chilli ice cream whetted my curiosity so much that at sunset I was standing in front of Bachelorrs (thats the spelling on the menu card) Ice Cream and Juice Stall, my appetite fully stimulated by a long brisk walk.
It was there on the menu card Green Chilli Ice Cream. I ordered it and walked with the bowl to a lonely bench nearby to enjoy the eating experience in glorious solitude.
The ice cream looks a creamy pink (not chilli green as I had expected it to be). I close my eyes and smell the ice cream a nice sweet milky fragrance, a bit fruity; certainly no trace of the piquant penetrating sting of chillies. With a tremor of trepidation I spoon a bit of the green chilli ice cream on my tongue.
My taste buds are smothered by a sweet mellifluous sensation as the cold creamy ice cream starts melting on my tongue. I am disappointed, feel conned it seems it was just hype. This is run of the mill stuff. Or is it? Wait a moment. As the ice cream melts away I suddenly feel a sharp piercing fiery taste that sizzles my tongue, stings through my nose and penetrates my brain. My tongue is on fire and, like instant firefighting, I instinctively spoon a blob of ice cream onto my tongue. The cool ice cream quenches my burning tongue with its almost ambrosial taste but the moment it melts away I am zipped like a rocket with the sharp punch of the green chillies.
So that was the art of eating green chilli ice cream. Hot and cold. Scorch and quench. Sting and soothe. Contrasting sensations. Like alternating current. Sharp tangy kicks burning through the cool syrupy sweetness till your system is fully perked up. And a trace of the biting tangy flavour of the green chilli remains within me for a long long time as I walk away.
Green chilli ice cream doesnt satiate it excites, stimulates, gives you a kick, zests you up. Its a truly passionate delight.
There are many unusual and novel ice creams with their unique tastes which you can try and relish; but Green Chilli Ice Cream is the "signature dish" of this place.
The next time you are in Mumbai, head for Chowpatty, and relish a bowl of green chilli ice cream. And let me know if you liked it.
