Lets get drunk at bonobo..
Bonobo has a beautiful terrace set-up with dim lights, comfortable couch seating and high chairs. the smaller indoor area is mainly a dancing room or a lounge room.
Their bar is well stocked have a good variety of cocktails. we tried their 'two-ingredient' drink, vanilla vodka + raspberry soda and it was pretty gooodddd
we asked the chef to get us some veg starters only as we wanted to eat light and head to another bar. The spinach corn cream wantons...they were really delicious and you can't feel the oil at all.
A rooftop pub situated at linking road. This place a must go to place for people looking for a place to throw a party for any occasion. The waiters attend and make sure you're having a good time. You can order cocktails or just chill with a pint of beer. The ambience is one of the best in Bandra.I would recommend the sautéed beef here. You can also go for their choice of steaks. The drinks are reasonably priced. Overall a good place & Highly recommended.
Cool place !
A really cool place to hang out in Bandra. Love their music, esp on Fridays. My friends also perofrm here so I have another reason to visit here. Love their drinks and their creativity on the mocktails side. Staff is courteous and ambiencce is really chillax. Do visit here on Fridays. From the cost side, its little on the high side.
It's odd but it's even !
Quite an odd location. We went on one rainy Sunday when were in mood of pub hopping. Interiors are quirky and wooden feel to the interiors give you really warm feeling. Service is fast. Starters are decent though nothing out of the world. Go here with friends to have some chit chat with light music in the background. It's not that easy on the pocket.
Really cool !
It's really a pain to find this place if you are not a local. But this spot is quite famous and should be sure visit for foodies. Food is okay. Their steaks go well with the beer. Brewed beer Dopple ganger is a must try here!!! As far as music is concerned, it's difficult to say how good it is as they keep hopping the genres. They just play anything. Service is good and quick.
A must try!!!
If you are looking for a great place to chill in Bandra with great food offerings coupled with a great selection of drinks, then Bonobo is the place to be!!! What I love about this place is that though it is 5 years old, these guys do not rest on their laurels, they keep on reinventing themselves and are up to date on all the market trends.
Was very fortunate to try some of their new beers one actually brewed by the band Iron Maiden!!! (Which by the way is a real winner!!!). They have also tied up with a micro brewery who are specially crafting beers, just for them!!!
In a lot of bars in this town they compromise on the food as they think it's an after thought, but not here!!! I tried the chicken quesadillas and a mushroom starter, which were both excellent!!!
They also do different events there which keeps the crowd entertained and engaged, thus preventing Bonobo from becoming "just another bar".
The ambiance is energetic and the crowd is great. The service is quick and efficient, what's not to love???
To sum it up for a bar to have not only survived but thrived for 5 years (80 percent of all restaurants in this city shut within the first year of operations) is a feat!!! Kudos to you and keep it up!!!
Admit it; the first thing that attracts you is their quirky interior- especially the tree like canopies in the middle. The high stools near the wall and a glassy bar gives an up market feel. The prices are more on the balanced side considering its location and wide open space both becoming uncommon nowadays.
We opted for their happy hours one plus one offer and it proved to be a smart decision. Ordered for local branded beer and a Cosmopolitan; to begin with. The beer was chilled enough and served promptly; even the second one came without any reminder from our side. Talking about the cocktail-it was near perfect blend of vodka, orange liqueur & cranberry yummy.
We tried their Chicken Caesar Salad as an accompaniment to go with the drinks. Again all praises for it, as Ive hardly seen such perfectly balanced on taste as well as presentation salad outside of a five star establishment.
Their service was prompt, sometimes on the brink of over-enthusiastic. But nonetheless, their reminder for our one remaining cocktail was courteous and welcoming gesture.
Yes, already making a plan to return here soon.
Love the food here!
Been here a couple of times earlier and I have had a great time here! The food is very good, drinks menu is very extensive and the music is upbeat and modern. Ambiance is very well done and is minimal. Their desserts definitely get a special mention
An average blink -and-you-miss, hole in the wall bar on linking road, this place is overrated. Random riffraff in all black uniforms passed off as bouncers fake-greet you into basically a terrace with a bar and some chairs and small dancefloor that can hold only around 30 people comfortably.Quite a paradox for something that is promoted as a nightlife hotspot, I'd rather be at a house party. Seriously, Duh!!!
Been there yesterday for dinner. My first experience with Vietnamese Food was bad at some location in Bangalore. Now stupidity ran into my head and had this dish called as Vietnamese Basa. Its a Fish cuisne served on a Pasta like sphaghetti which anyone can cook. Now whether the food was screwed up or Vietnamese eat food like that i dont know. Ambince was nice, terrace top. Price- Above Average wrt to the quantity they serve. Ist time to this place so cant get too judgemental about this place.
Bonobo- a diet restaurant
Bonobo at bandra link rd is a diet restaurant. So, all the girls out there, who are starving themselves to be zero size, can definitely visit Bonobo. Apparently, the restaurant thinks, we are sparrows and only peck at our food- what other valid reason to offer such miserable quantity? And after a point, it hurts your pocket too, so you stop ordering, even though you are hungry after shelling out 1,500 bucks. So, that will help your diet plans. They should definitely think of tying up with a Gym! And ya, the food was very average and whatever good ambiance the place offered was killed by its real bad music...And ya, we did go to CCD lounge after our dinner at Bonobo and had our real meal :)
July 31, 2012response from management at Bonobo:
We serve regular portions as per the Food and Beverage industry standard. However, if you still feel the portions are small, we'd love for you to come back and let us recommend dishes that might fill you up more.
Thanks and Regards,
Gig at Bonobo
I was told initially that the gig was starting at Bonobo at 9 30. Upon reaching there at 10 and willing to pay Rs 300 to enter. I was told that only a couple entry would be allowed
Being an avid music fan, I do not expect this treatment from a club which expects an audience to come as a couple for a gig!!.
If this practice is to be followed, I am very certain that Bonobo will not be a location for future gigs.
I feel the Management should have atleast notified people of the change in rules.
February 27, 2012response from management at Bonobo:
For Wobble nights, there is free entry for everyone till 10:00 pm, post-which we do have an entry charge. Any communication that has gone out from our end states the same. We apologize in case of any inconvenience and hope to see you at Bonobo again.
Not too good, but not too bad either
The eight of us went to Bonobo with high hopes of spending a great chilled out evening. Despite having to wait outside for half an hour for a private party to wrap up, we entered into a good, ambient setting and Mumbai winter permitted for a good open air seating option.
What we liked: The drinks (The bar menu is pretty extensive. Although the drinks are slightly heavy on the pockets, they do not disappoint :) ), the music (chilled out and relaxed) and service (we had a helpful server)
What we didn't like: FOOD (Disappointing! Starters were almost bland and not at all worth the money being charged. Entrees were just as average).
Verdict: It's good...not grand...but works. Good if you are looking to spend a chilled out evening over a few drinks with friends or even a date, Bonobo is a decent, decorous pick. Avoid if you are looking for 'drink and dine experience', coz u are gonna be left wanting for more (and better) as far as food is concerned..:)
Not bad at all
Great music and selection of cocktails, and the food isn't half bad either. Definitely worth a second visit. Do try out their tandoori chicken, I thought it was fantastic...at least I think it was called tandoori chicken, the music was too damn loud for me to hear what the waiter called it.
A visit last night & Complete waste of Sunday. Absolutely empty with just a table or two filled. Wrong definitions of drinks mentioned in cocktail section, with barely any of the written flavors available. They are least bothered about quality of music when place is empty. Continental food is bad, no taste in pasta & wearied Lasagna.... No way I am visiting this place again.
Ambience, drinks and music...
Bonobo is a pretty place on a rooftop... the ambience is very attractive.. though I feel the lighting could have gone a bit darker.
The music is really good especially on weekends - it's a mix of house, lounge and electronica. It sets the mood just right.
The bar is really good... pretty much all their cocktails are nice. Try their chocolate martini, it's something to die for!
The food is decent overall... try their lasagna..it's yumm! But it's overpriced.
Overall I would say it's a slightly overpriced place but you can go and enjoy with a bunch of friends once in a while..
Welcome to the jungle!
Spacing: Perfect, it's open-air so it is pretty spacey
Ambience: Lovely, woody, mysterious (great for a date - blind/regular - it doesn't matter! Lol).
Food: Pretty okay but expensive
Drinks: Awesome. Love the Bloody Marys here.
Pricing: a Little Expensive
VERDICT: Great place for drinks, more than anything else. Relax, lie back and chill for you're in the jungle now!
Go there for the music
The one and only reason I would visit Bonobo over and over, is the kind of music they play -trip hop, house, electronica, chillout, ambient etc. Cafe Buddha Bar lovers will REVEL here.
The predominantly North Eastern waitstaff are a decent and polite bunch who wont' gawk at foreigners and females. Food portions are ok but I guess rather expected from a contemporary cuisine menu.
I salute Bonobo for standing their ground and playing the music they do instead of catering to the hip hop loving corporates. I'd love to set a music play list here on a Saturday Night and prove to some ignorant reviewers, that electronica can be groovy and mood-inducing too.
BONOBO... NO NO NO forever
Heard about this place ... went for the first time to this place on a Sunday evening but there were hardly few people around it was so empty ..... We called up Chef.. to recommend his specialty on house ..he recommended some paneer dish...it was so bad in taste that after chef recommendation also. I would never be to this place again & also never suggest anyone for the same... this how i ended my dinner without even ordering anything else...
Not bad at all
Went here on Saturday after a long time (I heard it had shut down for a while). The crowd was good and the DJ (Ronald) had a really good vibe going on indoors as well as outdoors. The bartenders were friendly and thankfully I didn't I have to shout to catch their attention. Would definitely go again.
I don't believe how they can have two horrible places in the same premises. Yeah bonobo and firangi. When I went to bonobo, at first it came across as quite a romantic place but as i proceeded I realized that they have tried too hard to make it look like a cool pub. Trying their hands on too many things has worked against them and even though rooftops are a hit, this one is a serious miss! Opt for Elbo room or totos instead peeps!
had been to dis place on sat nite aftr a busy evenin of shoppin wid my wifey...we were here for dinner...
i must say dat dis place is quite expensive and not at all value for money....
we were seated outside(non ac) as they dnt serve food inside(ac room)...
the place is VERY TACKY.....nt enough place...
there was IPL goin on...in their " " projector...but d view wasn't proper as where we were seated we could hardly see anything...
the ambience was ok nothin extraordinary...and the service out here is the worst i've ever had offlate....
abt d food....well nt 2 many options as its more of a pub den a rest-pub...we ordered pastas and to be very honest it was just ok....
had sum gr8 expectations abt dis place aftr readin d review in d paper...bt i was hugely disappointed...
must say that guys please dnt regret if u give it a miss....
my rating 1/10(highly cause of d SERVICE it sucksssss)....
Finally, a place that realises that on a friday or saturday night, lots of people want to relax and not SUIT UP. One can go to Bonobo in shorts and flip-flops. I love it. Not eaten here nor had any cocktails, but i really enjoyed the ambience and the service was also decent. The crowd here is very different from the kind you would see at a run-of-the-mill nightclub, or one of the new lounges...which is what is so refreshing.
I thought the music was fine. For the AC area, they could get a little more creative with the furniture there.
But all in all, this is a place i will definitely frequent
1/2 RATING IF I HAD A CHOICE
This place is completely overrated....they have an open area and a lounge area...there is nothing to lounge in that area.... high back seats, some bar stools thats it! drinks menu is still decent but food menu is as good as not being there... saw a lot of firangs the day when i visited and i think only they can understand or stand the kind of progessive house music these people play.... extremely boring and monotonous.. go there if you want to soak in this warm weather and being bit by mosquitoes..sorry but the place SUCKS! did i also tell you that they overcharge you on the bill .... take a look yourself i was cheated !!!
Nice Drinking Joint
We were in Bandra and wanted to enjoy the occassion with good food. One of the friends recommended Bonobo.
I am a non-alcoholic and primarily have interest only on food. So Bonobo is definitely not an eating place and more of a drinking place with an interactive bar.
The ambiance is dark and to some extent pleasant for the conversing crowd. But some corners are extremely dark compared to others.
The food menu does not have much to offer and is quite expensive. The mash was ok not as creamy as expected. But the lasgana and sundried tomato pasta which I had was good.
Overall a nice place but I could not enjoy with my own limitations.
It's good..but theres something missing
...i visited the place for the first time last saturday, and to be honest, i was felt pretty disappointed! The place was packed at the entrance, like every1 had padded up there...and the back was just...plain (and i do not mean the decor)..the decor, the music all are great!!! but there were these couple of tables which were had zero lighting and everyone had dumped their bags / drinks on them !! Was a lil' put off by that...
But, im sure it was a one off thing cos this place definitly looks brilliant!! Looking forward to chilling at Bonobo again!
Btw, any suggestions which day i shld visit??
Just good drinks cannot make people come back
We decided to go there on a warm sultry April evening and were disappointed to find that it was largely an open air place. There was a small section sealed off in the A/c which was packed with people. The outside, done up tastefully, was still quite sultry and without effective ventilation/ fans was not very inviting.
The initial disappointment overcome and settled in for the evening, we were indeed happy to find a wide range of fresh fruit cocktails on the menu. But the sad part was that there was no one at the bar, besides of course some depressed looking bartenders. The Mix-O-logy bar just did not look inviting. There was no one at the bar trying anything. The waiters did not offer any information or invite you to try making your drink at the bar. The new concept was quite downer in reality.
The food was ok. For the starters we had some very nice smoked Salmon. For main course I had some average tasting Bonobo chicken, that is, some char grilled chicken on a bed of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Abhi had some pasta, which though tasty was in such a small portion that he was quite put off. The portions of the food were like the one we see on Top Chef. Tiny miniscule portions, just enough to fill a little tummy space but never the appetite.
The service was nothing to write home about. Actually it was something one can write in ones review. We were disappointed to find people on the adjacent table smoking away to death. On being asked, the waiter said that they could very well do what they wanted. I tried to point out that smoking in public places is supposedly banned, but the waiter did not care for any general knowledge on my part or for the law. It actually made me wonder if there was any helpline on which such violations could be reported. Does anyone know of one?
All in all, a decent evening more credit to the company we had than the place. With a bill of Rs 3000 for 3 people, it was a relatively affordable meal, given Bandra standards. Though I dont think we will return to it in a hurry.
...well firslt great going burrp..for leeting ppl like me know wher to go and whts happening..
heard this place through this very site....
though a little hard to find parking.....the place was good..partly open and partly closed area for the bar....i liked the music..very much to my liking....the drinks wer fine too...
though at some points i thought the crowd was not the best....
i think its a place tht will do well for sure and all the best to them
cdid not eat there so cant say anything about the food..
Must visit for cocktails!
Went here on a friday night for dinner...was a long wait as i missing my reservation time..went indoor and was abs pleased with the bar and the range of drinks...
We orderd 2 drinks - Sangria and the Pomergarte Martini (based on fellow burrper's suggestion) and both we fantastic. Nver had this good a Sangria made in red wine. The music and the overall ambiance was good. I wish they had better seating arrangement to compensate for the relatively smaller place. Also wished them to have some air coolers in the outdoor section (in lines with out of the blue)..the cocktails are fairly priced too...300 bucks...ordered some appetizers too - jalapeno poppers and some fries...both pretty decent...
Couldnt wait for getting the dinner table so headed some place else...will def visit to try out thier dinner menu and some more cocktail variety.
Damage for 2 - 1100 - couple of drinks and appetizers..
Quirky and cute...Must visit
I love the way they have done up the place and its exactly like in the picture here. Very quirky.
Ambience: Its a smalish place with a few tables outside in the open and an area inside near the interactive bar with a DJ who comes in at 8:30. We sat outside to enjoy the good weather.Even the door have a girl and boy monkey picture going with the name.
Service: Very prompt and courteous. They put a musquito coil the moment we sat down without being told. They also came by a couple to times to inquire if everything was ok without giving you the feeling that they were hovering which is quite irritating. Going the extra mile is always appreciated.
Food: The menu esp for veg is very limited. We ordered a creamy panner starter which was served with a dip. Very nice. For main course we ordered lasagna which was served with two small pieces of garlic bread. Very average. The food was ok and nothing to rave about.
Drinks: Ok now we get to the interesting part. The moment I opened the menu I was in heaven. They had so many different cocktails apart from the usual fare. Just couldn't decide which one to go for. Finally decided to make one instead. They have an interactive bar where you can decide what exactly goes into it from fruits, liquor, herbs, spices et all. Went in for apple and hazelnut with vodka. Just loved how it turned out though a bit on the sweeter side. I think I have to go back if for nothing else then just to try the other variations they have.
Damages: I think it was Rs 1200 for 2 drinks, 1 starter and 1 maind course but not too sure. The cocktails are priced around Rs 300.
Just loved everything about this place. Cannot stress it enough. A place you go and feel "Ahhhh" finally someplace you'd love to go often. Definately a must must must visit.
Been here about about three times. Had meal only once. What struck me was the limited food menu. Though whatever ordered was decent but the food menu could expand a litlle. also the open air area is infested with mosquitoes, something the management could do away with like other open air places like Zenzi. But nice place to have a drink atleast.
"Mumbaikars slide to this brand-new place"
Bonobo is an endangered ape, living in the heart of the Congo. A free spirit, capable of wild social behavior and free love, the Bonobo is perhaps what humans strive to be.
This is no lesson in science or zoology; it's just an introduction to the unusual name given to the latest in the line of swanky haunts in the buzzing suburb of Bandra. There are a lot of reasons ...[read more on DNA]
