The chicken and Prawn noodles are very well made. The quantity is really good and it can easily fill two people. There are a lot of pieces of Chicken and Prawns in the noodles.
You should also try the Lemon chicken. The gravy is light and not spicy at all.
Average food but good to try once ...
Its a nice punjabi joint managed by a big jolly sardarji . I always find it good if a sardar is heading a food joint, more often than not its an indication that the food is good.
I ordered gobhi, aloo paranthas and paneer bhurjee with chapatis. Everything was fresh and nice esp the bhurjee. However couple of things didnt seem right. One the ambience is completely plain with around 3 tables and no music to go with it. And second the portion sizes are small. The tawa paranthas are medium at best and the paneer bhurjee although heavenly was just about enough for one and half people.
The menu is also very confusing with mughlai and pasta in it and some 10 dishes in the end hand written which completely changes the character of the place.
The service is very ordinary with the server not being able to understand much of what you say and i had to repeat a lot to be able to get what i wanted from them.
Will i visit the joint again perhaps no cos i found a similar much better joint very near.
UNIQUE EATS AT CAFE APPETITE
I am a very regular at this place , swift service, excellent food, and a nice ambiance with some great music, their latest addittions to the menu chulha chicken is definetly nice but afghani is still my favourits, also tired their DESI CHICKEN- alill spicy but amazing flavours (a sure hit ),
What i love about this place is they keep coming up with unique dishes, to name afew- chicken chilly cheese paratha, ch mongolian rice, desi chicken, afghani(all time favourite), kalmi kebab(TO DIE FOR ), they have revised their rates but still its value for money , and def recommended.
WORTH EVERY PENNY SPENT
Coming here after ages, infact had forgotten abt this place been so tied up with work,
Happen to cross this place and couldnt resist my temptations for the kalmi kebabs , was around lunch time, and this place is busy during lunch hours, nevertheless , wasnt a long wait for the table, just me and my buddy at work.
The interiors look much more classy now(they have doneup their place recently )
the order was taken immediately and d food came even quicker,
KALMI KEBABS: succulent, spiced just right to leave tantalizing flavors of Indian spices ,skillfully cooked to lend a tender and moist taste.
For the main we were recommended the chicken mongolian rice, which was divine , very unique, tasted just amazing (A RICE GRAVY COMBINATION ) food served hot and delicious.AND FAST ....WHAT MORE COULD WE ASK FOR, TOTAL BILLING WITH BEVERAGES CAME TO AROUND 500 , TOTAL VALUE FOR MONEY,
They have introduced must unique dishes aswell, like d DESI CHICKEN,DESI CHICKEN PULAV,CHULHA CHICKEN, ANDF some more(cant remember )
GUESS WILL HAVE TO COME BACK FOR MORE ....
Charging EXTRA Taxes on Food
I visited this cafe some days and to my surprise they charged extra VAT n Service Tax n mind it S. Tax No. was nowhere mentioned on the bill. On querying about it, the owner simply said that other restaurant are charging more than us and nobody is complaining about it. What the hell!!! Burp should look about these issues before giving a certification which display proudly at their outlet.
We asked for home delivery and the service was quite quick! Food was piping hot except for Manchurian balls which were frozen cold! Not acceptable! We had asked for the gravy and the balls to be sent separately. While the gravy was hot, the cold balls did not quite make the dish enjoyable. The gravy tasted good but honestly, I've had better gravies.
Parathas came along with mixed pulses dal and dahi. The dal was very yummy but I felt that the quantity provided for the parathas was not enough. We had ordered Paneer Methi paratha, which was quite frankly tasteless, and had also ordered cheese paratha which was good.
Pasta was okay, actually lacking in taste.
Like i mentioned my last visit at CAFE APPETITE was amazing,
Was visiting a client at andheri and i had decided would have lunch here, so after a 35 minute wait i finally got a seat in d cafe and ordered a chaas to start with ,
OK this place is a favourite with the corporates and is packed in d noons , so u better make a reservation bfore coming, the chass was excellent, packed with flavours and very refreshing. almost every table had a chaas on it,i guess thats why i ordered it and was a wise decision
for the food i ordered a chicken mongolian rice and a chicken crispy as recommended by d staff and it was amazing,
the service was fast and the food served hot,
overall was another amazing experience except for the wait ofcourse.
WILL COME BACK FOR MORE...
worth every penny
This is one place i love to go to for food, its a total value for money eatery, excellent food be it Chinese, tandoori, Italian, mughlai, parathas ofcourse and not really expensive either, great service, always served fresh, unique dishes like de chicken chilly paratha, their cream of mushroom soup is to die for, their mushroom herbed rice a hit again, afghani d all time fav, i just hope they continue the good work for d next few decades aswell .
Sire, HATS OFF
Hats off to your Tandoori Chicken and Paranthas
The understated charm and the amazing consistency. Yes, you heard it right. The AMAZING CONSISTENCY in the awesome Tandoori Chicken (staple for the last 1-1.5yrs.) is highly appreciated
Hope to see you scaling up bigger
AWESOME IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT
A cute little place on d andheri link road to the highway, cozy, very neat, good music, decent decor, i wudnt mind spending my evenings there,
now v come to the food, the sardarji managing the restaurant is very friendly and gives some really good suggestions, they just have 1 waiter taking care of the place but never d less they r pretty quick with the food and service is good.
Had the afghjani chicken and the kalmi kebab to start with , then was recommended the herbed rice with mushroom sauce wghich was again just too good to be described in words, unfortunately they dont serve desserts.
loved the experience and have a lot to try , im sure my friends and family will love this place, and it is burrp certified too, so wud suggest u guys go and try this awesum place, A BIG THUMPS UP FOR THE EXPERIENCE
One of the worst restaurants ever
I had ordered a Chicken Hakka noodles from this place. I had told the person who was taking the order that I want 'no vegetables' in those. Only the chicken and the egg is fine.
When I got the parcel it contained only noodles in it. Not a single piece of chicken. When I called up the restaurant and expressed my unhappiness the person who took my order tells me to speak properly and to be polite. When I told him that he had messed up my order and instead of apologising he is teaching me mannerisms .
I was in utter shock. A roadside thelawalaa will also not use language like this.
I really wanted to bring this to the notice of the manager but am a little scared as this person might come to my office and create a ruckus. Not sure what type of waiters are employed in this place.
My suggestion to all - PLS DO NOT DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE (ESPECIALLY A PARCEL).
P.S.: The noodles were total junk with some noodles 'half fried' in lots and lots of oil. Absolute Rubbish.
Was recommended this place by a friend, little did i expect that my experience would be so blissful,
Ambiance was nice, simply beautiful, cozy and just the right music to go with it,
Service was swift and courteous,
Food was just too good to be described in words,
very unique stuff (HARD TO FIND IT ANYWHERE ELSE ) CHICKEN CHILLY CHEESE PARATHA (DIVINE ), HERBED RICE WITH MUSHROOM RAGOUT(mushrooms never tasted soo goood ),
SINCE i was alone cOudnt stuff myself more, but ya im definetly coming back for more, WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED :)))))
CONSISTENTLY GOOD INFACT BETTER
Been here after almost 6 months now, since i keep travelling, but ordered the afgahnai chicken, kalmi kebab for starters, chicken dhaniya adraki(highly recommended), butter chicken, amritsari dal makhani(excellent ) and breads .It was a blessing being here , the food was just out of this world, just the way it used to be infact better i guess, my folks frequently order for deliveries from here, they love the chinese here, so OVERALL ITS AN AMAZING PLACE TO DINE IN..
Cafe Appetite Chakala is the worst restaurant
This is a roadside place where the owners put up fake reviews of the food on this website on a regular basis. I have tried the food and it is one of the worst places to order food from and I can imagine sitting by the roadside on andheri kurla road wouldnt be much fun either. Request the moderators to please take some action.
WOW!! have u had d MUSHROOM CAPPUCCINO
Its just amazing the creativity and the awesome dishes tat they introduce, the latest being the mushroom cappuccino, its divine, just out of this world, its smooth, light, packed with flavours, A MUST HAVE , credits to the chef, makes my day at APPETITE.
Ordered last nite - the Veg Alfredo Pasta, Herbed Rice with Mushroom Ragout, Chole Chawal & Aloo Onion Paratha. All of which was great. Herbed Rice with Mushroom is not mentioned on the menu but came across this divine dish from a fellow Burrper - so ordered it - it was simply out of this world .THe mushrooms sauce & the herbed rice was splendid...it was simply awesum. Parathas arrived hot...Delivery time was 25 mins which was fairly decent. Alfredo pasta though veg was superb...in taste & flavour. Very very VFM - all of this came upto only Rs. 445 - taste was good & so was the quantity.
Very average ... in everything !!
Decided to visit the place after reading some positive reviews and burrp certification. Smallish place and decently priced food
friendly owner. Ordered Paratntha @ Rs. 45 each and these were just average
but was served with curd and Amritsari chana for a change. The corporate combos looks good and will try it out later. The kebabs were interesting especially noting the burrp award and we ordered a chicken reshmi
The owner recommended Italian to us but were scared multi cuisine joints do that to us. Not a bad place for take away once in a while when you are looking for some basic Punjabi Paranthas. Pricing for paranthas could be better
HAVE U HAD D HERBED RICE WITH MUSHROOM RAGOUT
Im in love with this place, just love d new addition to the menu(herbed rice with mushroom ragout), if u r a mushroom lover u just cant miss this option, its just DIVINE, ive never had smethg like this and mushrooms have never tasted this good before, they add some herbs to it that really brings out the flavours,
THIS REVIEW IS SPECIALLY DEDICATED TO THIS DISH, have tried the other dishes also which are amazing to and ive always recommended this place
Aloo Gobi Paratha made my day
This hole in the wall place seems to be quite popular with the burrpers here Me and a couple of colleagues from work tried out this place for lunch today.
I had the Aloo-Gobi Paratha which was served with a little bowl of curd and some amritsari cholle. The paratha was very tasty. My colleagues had a Aloo-onion and a non-veg (chicken?) paratha and they too were raving about it.
This place is quite small - I think they have no more than 4 tables, but it is very worth it.
Have added it to my favorites list.
ONE OF ITS KIND
This place is known for not just the quality, quantity of food but the chef here is a genius and knows his work right, they come out with recipies which r unique and taste just awesome , i must have tried almost 80 percent of their menu and must be just 1 or 2 occasions that i must have not liked d dish, overall i just love the food here ,
One thing about this place is they keep comin up with specials every week and they pick up traditional north indian regional dishes which are like really popular , dishes like AMRITSARI TIKKA MASALA, DELHI STYLE KEEMA MASALA, DELHI KATHI KEBAB ROLLS, CHICKEN CHILLY CHEESE PARATHA, these dishes u hardly find anywhere in mumbai, and they r pretty reasonable too, i
I have been promoting this outlet to my near and dear ones and none r dissapointed, A BIG THUMPS UP 2 D OWNER.
TOP RATED RESTAURANT
A friend highly recommended this cafe (restaurant ) for its food, service and hosp[itality , and without a doubt it did not dissapoint me on any of the above ,
FOOD- very light, good control over spices and oil, dosent hurt ur system after a heavy meal, had d kalmi kebab, chicken chilly cheese paratha, chicken alfredo and chicken mongolian rice,
SERVICE- swift with a smile, starters was served to us withen 12 minutes, and so was the rest of the food without much of await, very PROFESSIONAL.
AMBIANCE - its a small place , soothing music, nicely done up, nothing fancy.
HOSPITALITY- we were greeted with a smile , since its a small place the manager has a good control over the restaurant, even the smallest of things are noticed and the customers are treated right.
the manager makes it a point to ensure the food is perfect and takes a feedback from every table personally, very well spoken guy, and highly professional, and he does suggest some good food when asked for recommendations,
OVERALL we were highly impressed with the overall experience and cant wait to to there again,
definetly a place to try.
Horrible home delivery option
Their home delivery is horrible. There is a massive change in their attitude. Firstly, a person who can't understand you and doesn't know anything picks up the phone and he will take your full order only to tell you that they don't deliver to places in andheri(e). Well I have ordered before several times and they have delivered. So I don't know what has caused a change in their attitude. If there is a concept of minimum order then they should clearly mention it in their menu. Overall, attitude towards customers is not right.
Serving me since more than 10 yrz now
i have been odering from here since many years now.
Itz cheap and good quality
I love thier chiken afgani and tandoori and chinese food
it had closed inbetween and a pizza joint had opened up, but after a yr it opened back agn yaay
i have been thr only once, i ususally order home delivery atleast twice a week
As good as always
Been to this place after a real long time and was supprised to note that the Owner Mr Ranjeet recollected my name after even a gap of almost 1 year.....and the this time me and my wife were in the mood for a Veg food,,,,and were suggested some great paratha's and Chinese food which was too good ...........always ask for suggestions from Ranjeet ...always spot on
Small eatery, good eats
After a lot of canceled plans this weekend, I got a few friends together to agree to head out for dinner on a lazy Sunday evening. Had a few choices of heading to Janata and some pizza places, but this friend of mine recommended Cafe Appetite. Another friend (chickenlover on burrp) is a regular customer there and the place was decided.
Not much to talk about. A very simple garage-converted-to-a-cafe with a signboard on it. I was REALLY surprised looking at the variety of items on their menu. Maybe 6-8 tables with seating for 20-25 people. Very very simple to be honest.
Looking at the variety of food on their menu, I was honestly surprised. Ranging from Mughlai to Chinese to Italian to Punjabi Parathas. The parathas were prepared in Olive Oil (!!!) for the health-concious. To be honest, no one would really expect that since this place is run by a Sikh ex-Leela chef and (no offense in any way) punjabis/sikhs do not believe in health-concious food. Got a few recommendations for Afghani Chicken, Kalmi Kebabs. The sign-board said that their specials today were Kathi Rolls and Caeser salad. We called for the Kathi Roll and it was absolutely delicious. The guy who ran the place said that the Caeser salad is not available since they ran out of ingredients. With the Kathi Roll down, we called for the Kalmi kebab, which was a T-shaped-Chicken-Lollipop-style kebab. Seasoned with a whole bunch of spices and it was just above average. The 2nd friend finally came in and we called for the Afghani Chicken. It tasted awfully similar to the Kalmi Kebabs so we could not really put our finger to which one was which. Were both of them Kalmi Kebabs or were both of them Afghani Chicken (pictures should be able to give you a good idea on this). With both those down, we called for a Cafe Appetite Special Pizza. The pizza was a thin-crust topped generously with chicken. However, the diced chicken was too 'chewey' for all the 3 of us. The cheese on the pizza did not taste like your regular Mozzerella but it was good. All this downed with atleast 4 500-ml bottles of Pepsi
Was average. There was a grossly underaged boy serving food and he obviously looked hired and not a part of the family that ran the restaurant. I really wish this was changed and send the boy to school, since he was a little too shy when talked with. The person who ran the restaurant advised us that calling one dish after finishing another would take time and we should order all at once. Maybe since it was beyond 10.30pm and it was time to shut shop. One thing that I really appreciate that the manager came up to us to ask if the food was OK. To be polite, we did not point out our confusion regarding the tikkas and the chewey chicken pieces on the pizza.
Not bad. 900 bucks for 3 people eating food for atleast 4 people.
Would I go there again? - Sure. I'd love to try out the Pastas and Chinese there
Would I go there with friends? - Definitely
Would I go there with family? - Maybe not (since I stay about 30km from where this place is located)
Consistent as ever
Visiting this place after ages and was really suprised to find the quality of the food as good as it was abt 7/8 months back when i had first been here,
Happened to be in andheri on wednesday and decided to have lunch HERE,
was a lill crowded but the wait was hardly 10 min, they have quite afew additions to the menu since then, mughlai, thali, rolls, salads, wow was my reaction,
opted for the kalmi kebab which was the BEST ive EVER HAD ,amazing stuff, ( IF U LOVE HAVING CHICKEN , U CANT MISS THE KALMI KEBAB ), then ordered the chicken biryani which was nice , light , non greasy, flavoursum, over all i was very impressed with the food like the last time and i guess the credit goes to the surdi owner whose also the chef there, well keep rocking and gud luck for the future.
Amazing additions to the menu
Have been to cafe Appetite a couple of times and was never dissappointed with the food nor the service,
Last week our group of 5 decided to check out this place again and we were pleased with the new additions to the menu,
We started with KALMI KEBAB, AFGHANI CHICKEN and CHICKEN CRISPY (AMAZING STARTERS ), for the main course we ordered the CHICKEN KADAI, CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA, GARLIC NAANS AND SOME ROTIS, AND A CHICKEN BIRYANI AND A CHICKEN MONGOLIAN RICE , the food was just too good and we enjoyed thoroughly, they should have something in deserts too , though we were totally stuffed and content.
The owner a srdarji recommended us salads which he had introduced a week back and said they were doin really well, on his call i took the CEASER SALAD AND THE CHICKEN AND CORN SALAD as a take away for my lill sis and frankly speaking the dressing of the ceaser salad was amazing,i havent had a ceaser salad that good even in the five star properties be it the hyatt , or the leelas, the corn salad was ok.
Cafe APPETITE has a very good variety of salads and the quality at par with any good restaurant
This place is highly recommended for good food and service, though its a lill small but its VFM ,
SERVICE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO
Hve been very regular to this place , food is excellent , i must have tried almost 90 percent of the food on the menu and was never dissappointed, recommendations have always been good and quick service, but since the last 2 times the service has been really slow ,though it has got busier but the number of servers are still d same , i personally think they need to increase their staff, though i wud still prefer cafe Appetite to most of the restaurants around , i just hope the owners look into this matter and find a solution soon, thanx
Right on top
The food without a doubt is the best in andheri , though its a small place but the quality of food, service is excellent. The ambiance is decent.
cafe Appetite has also included MUGHLAI food to its menu and their CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA, BUTTER CHICKEN IS OUT OF THIS WORLD,though the AFGHANI still remains the favourite,
excellent food and quick...........what more wud u ask 4.
A MUST VISIT
Food served here is out of this world, amazing starters like AFGHANI CHICKEN, KALMI KEBEB, CHICKEN CRISPY, for the main course ,their chinese is excellent , parathas a must try, and italian is WOW,
They have recently introduced mughlai and their tikka masala and chicken biryani is just AWESOME,
love this place.
Well to start with me a complete foodie, i can go miles and miles for a good meal, but
appetite wasnt that far and i did give it a miss a couple of times, wondering is it really a place for good food or just another joint, hyped by some close associates of the owner on sites like BURPP!! ,
I did hear a lot about this place from my collouges and friends who had visited APPETITE and insisted i do pay it a visit if i really need to experience the pinnacle of hospitality ,which is something you can get only in a city like mumbai specially bcoz its not a five star property as such neither the ambiance is out of this world, or a celebrity chef concept restaurant.
so let me get on to the food now
ambiance was warm and welcoming with a lot of positivity around, smiling faces and that did give a good first impression, i started with the soup(tomato basil) was nice creamy and full of flavour,
2nd course- kalmi kebab (delicately spiced scumptious poulet ,which cud give any outlet a run for its money, very well priced for the quantity served.
3rd course wanted something light so they had a DELHI STYLE KHATTI KEBAB CH TIKKA ROLL on their specials of the day which was highly reccommended by the owner and he insisted i give it a try which i did and O BOY!! i did love it and relished every bit of it
OVERALL a nice , clean, food joint that did whet my APPETITE and definetly kept me asking for more,
HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED FOR THE FOODIES WHO WOULDNT MIND TO GO AN EXTRA MILE JUST FOR THAT TASTE THAT LINGERS FOR DAYS AFTER AN AMAZING MEAL.
A MUST visit restaurant , serving some amazing kebabs a, chinese and italian stuff(pastas) yet to try d pizzas and the parathas , have been hearing abt this [place since ages now and finally when i did get the oppotunity to be there , boy!! im glad i didnt opt for any other place .
A MUST VISIT PLACE ,
WOW(sabudana salad...jain menu )
Had been here yesterday and discovered that cafe appetite has a special jain menu for shravan and shraad, not a bad idea i thought to myself and there was this sabudana salad , smething ive never heard of or seen ,let me be specific , its infused with FRESH ORANGE JUICE , so i ordered for it and MAN !! I JUST FREAKED OUT, ITS WAS AWESOME, TANGY A LILL SWEET, FRUITY , it was just amazing though a small portion , smething new and im sure the credit goes to chef RAJI...
Then ofcourse had half an afghani and i was done ....excellent experience
Worst pasta in life.. Owner refused to accept
The soup was good. But the pasta was the worst. To top that the owner refused to accept that the pasta was no good. We left as soon as we tasted one scoop of Pasta... We were still charged for it.
Ambience not good at all... Not a place to go with GF/Wife..
Taste is all that matters
They claim that the greatness of food lies in the honesty of its ingredients. Well, after feasting on their delicacies, I can say without a shadow of doubt that they do practice what they preach!
The ambience is a simple set up and the prices are pretty reasonable. If youre a kebab freak, you must visit this place. The best kebab available here is the Kalmi Kebab (4pieces) which costs Rs.130. If youre in search of some good food and less taxing to your pocket, this is the place you should be.
is a must if you are a foodie, this review of mine is posted after almost 15/20 experiences at this amazing place.
though i wouldnt say everything is worth a try but that applys to ever restaurant.
they have a list of signature dishes
(their specials ) and they are amazing ,their food speaks volume in terms of QUALITY AND QUANTITY,
very innovative concept, wierd combinations(and it works ) , quick service , excellent hospitality by the owner,
they have come up with a jain menu for pure veges and their SABUDANA SALAD is a must try.
its out of this world .awesome place , my 2nd home i must say , lunch is mostly here.
QUICK AND CONSISTENT
HAVE BEEN A VERY REGULAR TO THIS PLACE AND THEY HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY SERVING GREAT FOOD ALWAYS,HAVE ORDERED A FEW TIMES FOR HOME DELIVERY AND MUST SAY TAKES THEM MAX 20-25 MIN AND PIPING HOT FOOD AT ITS BEST....
IM IN LOVE WITH PLACE A MUST VISIT IF U ARE A FOODIE ...KEEP ROCKIN GUYS
is the only world i can think of when i visit this place .
A small eatery u most likely to miss , its just next to the gurudwara on the andheri link road, one place u must visit if u a foodie and u will love the experience
Food :just too good , no comparisons
Service:swift and courteous though the servers need to know more of the menu .
Ambiance : decent , small place cant expect much.
Hygiene: at its best ( coz it a small joint again )but u need afforts for the same.
the owner has good knowledge of thw food he is serving and gives some excellent suggestions.
def a place worth visiting.........
This is a blink and you'll miss joint in chakala. Me and my brother decided to give this place a try a year ago and it turned out to be a masterstroke...The food is awesome... try the afghani chicken in starters..In chinese our favourites are Mangolian rice and hongkong rice with gravy...The owner is a nice host and helps you in deciding what to order. The pastas are also good. We are regulars at this joint....We end up dere almost twice a month....Koyle ke khaan mein heera hai Cafe Apetite The only negative is that the chef tends to be slightly heavy on salt so we have to tell him everytime to put a bit less salt. (we are used to eating less salt at home). A big thumbs up......
Umero uno Italian
Ive been to this place twice and ordered out once
Italian is one of the best the city has to offer, have not tried out the chinese yet
Starters were excellent, espcially chichen afghani and kababs
There was a paratha festival going on for a week which is was quite a let down, these guys should stick to what they are good at
Service is fast and efficient, the owner is knowledgeable and friendly
FOOD AT ITS BEST
IVE been a to this place once before and the food nodoubt is at its best, some amazing tandoori fare, chinese is good aswell, pastas out of this world so is the pizzas, well all said an done, this place needs to work on the service abit, though they have 2 waiters , i felt being thre one noon that they need to deploy more staff as they are really busy and takes time for the food to come , parathas are quick but the chinese and kebabs took a while , but the food cover up for all, overall a good place to have food , wud def come again whenever im around here.
Name may be misleading but not food :) Go for it
well this is my 2nd review after my 2nd visit,
i had read very good reviews about this place and was very eager to visit it since last 6 months but nothing was working out , but now after two frequent visits i can sum up my total experience .
1) well afgani chicken is truely superb and so is kalmi kabab ( quantity is also very good) , so go empty tummy to relish the chicken
2) I dont remember the name of pizza but it was nice with yummy thin crust , but helooo all pizza's arnt this appetizing we ordered chicken tikka pizza and it was disaster - bad - we actually removed all chicken chunks to finish the pizza - yuck tasteless , so u may get lucky unlucky with the choice of pizza's u make.
3) Paratha's r just ok . chicken paratha was ok . not bad at all but just not wow too. well u can eat it.
4) We had pasta alfredo with cheese garlic bread and it was just out of the world. really mindblowing. 10/5 for that
5) i liked the seating arrangement , small and cosy place and not much crowded .
Overall the place is good but all the items on menu card are not worth appreciating .
still good value for money and a nice eating joint with no chaos and no hurry even on friday's.
Nice service and good waiters.
I loved it , and you will too :)
No appetite for this place
So there are many reviews on burrp really loving this place and I was looking forward to having dinner here one day. I don't know if it was the hype or the kinda of cuisine I was expecting that let me down. To start with, since it's called a cafe, I was expecting some sandwiches, salads, some continental dishes with mashed potatoes on the side and pastas. From that list, I could see were pastas. They're a usual Indian and Chinese restaurant that is just called a cafe because somebody felt like doing that. I don't think I even saw coffees on the menu.
So we ordered for one conti dish on the menu (it said conti in brackets!) that was called Pepper chicken or something similar. Now what would you expect if you call for conti pepper chicken? I was expecting checken either grilled or sauteed with pepper sauce. Nope. We got a red colored chinese dish that tasted like Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce. We called the chef who told us that since it's a conti dish, pepper meant red peppers (like the capsicum). But it was not conti! It was chinese!!!! We then ordered for an Indian Kalmi Kabab which was extremely good. For main course, the chef (who is also the manager) recommended a Chicken Mongolian Rice which was good, but again, chinese isn't cafe food!
Good for Indian and Chinese. I detest the fact that it is called a cafe though, since they don't serve any food that cafe's should serve. Only beverages available are water, cold drinks and fresh lime soda. Too little.
The waiter could not understand what we were saying. Even after we pointed to the item on the menu. He was really very, very stupid.
There is absolutely nothing good about the ambience. I hated the music they were playing. Boy-bandish songs that we used to listen to when we didn't know any better.
Value for Money
This place has good VFM. I was just expecting a little Italian cuisine and so I was caught off guard when I saw the menu. But if you're in the moods for Chinese and Indian, seems like a good comfortable meal.
Andheri East. So always good if you're working at J.B. Nagar or close by. Make a trip.
And in conclusion...
I think it's a good place to go to for lunch breaks at work. But nothing uniquely impressive here.
well food is good , as suggested by others burrpers we opted for afghani chicken and kalmi kabab
well both were very good and the quantity was very nice :)
we ordered mushroom pizz and it was superb
good going -- i liked the location too.
good going sardar jee.
i need to try others itesm on menu card to rate it 5
chuck de APPETITE
PASSED by this small, neat place a couple of times but never had d time to go thru d APPETITE experience,
anyways was a sunday evening and we(me and my baby) decided to check this place out ..
to start with this place was almost empty at 8 in d evening, i guess we were alill early ,its a small cozy place, gud music, decent ambiance (nothing fancy ),
started with a soup-tom basil -4/5,
opted for the kalmi kebab(recommende)-10/5 was too f.... gud, had an appetite special pizza - 3.5/5, penne alfredo- 4.5/5 , pizza thin and crisyand juicy and the pasta was very well flavoured and saucy too, overall the food was good and deserves recommendation,
1 negative aspect is the absence of desserts .
I would def go back for more
After a very long time(almost 2 months)got afew days off work and wanted to party, have good food, sleep ,and sleep....
so APPETITE was the place to satisfy my desire for good food and we(me and my fiance ) headed for a quite sunday dinner.
Wasnt very crowded being a sunday, opted for the Afghani ckn, kalmi kebab to start with, simply amazing as ever, 4 d maincourse had the mongolian rice ,suggested by the surdi there, with basil ckn(supposed to be a thai-conti fusion) must say was out of this world, last but nt the least for dessert(thats all was available)home-made vanilla icecream with SPICED strawberry sauce and orange jellies, was unique and amazing taste...
(a small secret)The SURDI is the head chef at APPETITE and is D guy there to ask 4 suggestions and recommendations..so if u at APPETITE do nt 4get to call d surdi boy for the same and u wont regret being there,
IT was an amazing experience as always .
appetite tussi great ho
We went there on a lazy sunday evening for dinner and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. The starters - kalmi kababs were simply melt in your mouth types with the meat being absolutely tender and perfectly marinated. Could live on it forever!!. The mushroom in pepper sauce were far from authentic . The chef however redeemed himself with the main course - lemon pepper fried rice with mongolian chicken . The rice was fragrant with a slight tang and the mogolian chicken actually a mix of chicken and egg bhurji in a red sauce had a distinct flavour to it and complemented the rice well. However the highlight of the meal was the dessert - Homemade vanilla ice cream with spicy strawberry sauce and orange jelly . The vanilla icecream with its subtle flavours , the chili spiked strawberry sauce and the orange jellis literally teased your tastebuds so much that we had to order another round. The portions were quite sumptuous and the service efficient. Only grouch is the presence of mosquitos. On the whole a truly appetizing experience
I'm in agreement with a previous reviewer who expressed surprise at the number of glowing reviews this place has got. While it's a decent enough place, it's certainly no fine-dine restaurant as some of the reviews imply. The place is little more than a hole-in-the-wall, though it's clean and neatly furnished. Multiple stickers of Sodexho and Accor plastered at the entrance hint in no uncertain terms that this is a place where harried office-goers can drop in for a quick bite. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I dropped in last week in the afternoon after visiting a bank in the vicinity. Keeping in mind the Punjabi antecedents of the owner, I decided to skip the Italian and went straight for the parathas. And I must admit they were good. The accompaniments -- curd, chole, pickle -- were nice too. The best part was that a combo meal for one person (which includes two fair-sized parathas from "Value 1" plus the said accompaniments plus a can of coke) costs only Rs 75. That's VFM all right.
Service was cheerful and reasonably brisk, but one may experience some communication problems with the lads who wait on the tables. They aren't exactly chatty, which is good, but it wouldn't hurt to cross-check your dishes after you've ordered. The friendly sardarji was sitting at the counter, but alas, he never looked in my direction (let alone come over to chat with me) though the place was far from crowded.
A minor drawback (could be major for some) was that there's no toilet for patrons, nor even a washbasin. I was quickly given a "finger-bowl", so no complaints there, but what if someone needs to go that extra mile urgently? In such cases, no amount of fingering (sorry, finger-bowling) would work. Even many fast-food joints have decent loos these days, so Appetite should try to find a solution.
Another hint to the friendly surd (yes, he really does look friendly; I'm not being sarcastic) is to try and avoid guest- (read ghost-) written reviews. These can backfire in the long run. Your food and service are decent; let that draw in customers.
To sum up...
Food: 4.5 stars (only the parathas; not tried the Italian yet)
Service: 3.5 stars
Ambience: 3.5 stars
Overall: I'll give it a 4. Though some may say the absence of a loo really justifies the subtraction of a half-star...
In the past year I've visited Cafe Appetite so many times that I cant even count them on my hands and toes. I've introduced my friends, family and even colleagues to this place. So last week, after a long vacation out of Mumbai, when the question 'Where do we go for dinner' popped into our heads, I instantly decided to go to Cafe Appetite.
We ordered the usuals. But the taste differed from what had been lingering on our taste buds since the past few times. We were just not satisfied..
The chicken seemed a little uncooked but even if it wasnt, the taste wasnt the same.
It may be losing its charm. I really like the place and hope it gets back on its feet so that I can continue to dine there..
I tried this place after reading lot of positive reviews on burrp. While the place is OK, it is not worth the hype. I went there for lunch on weekend and the place was totally empty. While the hospitality is good and it is value for money, it is primarily a lunch place for office crowd. Don't go with high expectations is my advice.
Cafe Appetite is very average!
I am surprised to see all 5 star reviews for this very very average place.
I ordered a tandoori mushroom which turned out to be deep fried. Parathas were strictly average and nothing even worth discussing.
Kalmi chicken was also highly average.
All in all an avoidable place, much better options available in Andheri East.
Great Food and Great Personalised Service
Seeing so many good reviews, I visited this place over a Weekend, Arrived there a bit early round 7.30 or so, as it was mentioned as small place, we ordered the Afgani Chicken and Kalmi Chicken, both were absolutely awesome and also the parathas, Really recommend this place for foodies.
I have Visited this Place a couple of times, and never regreted any of my visits, My Family really enjoyed the various Veg and Non Veg Parathas, and the Afgani & Kalmi Chicken, and also the Pasta was really good Not to forget the Pizzas that are made of fresh Dough and arrives piping hot, straight from the Oven ... Rajneet is the Executive Chef and Owner is very helpful with suggestions and ensures the service is spot on.. Way to go and he is secret behind the scenes to ensure that quality of food is really high as he has Experience of working in Prestigous 5 Star Hotels, Try this place & you will come back for more
Really An Awesome place
One of the best restaurants in Andheri East. Considering the cost factor you'll love the restaurant all the more..
A good meal for 2 cannot exceed more than 400/-
On my first visit we had ordered parathas (chicken paratha, aloo paratha, methi paratha)..All were equally good.
On second visit I had ordered pastas, which were really good.
On my third visit I had ordered Fried Rice and some Chinese..
All these times I was never disappointed.
Food = 8/10
Ambeince = 5/10
Service = 9/10
So guys if you in andheri during lunch/dinner time do pay this place a visit
NOTHING GR8 !!
Hi guys ! Going through the reviews went yesterday for lunch.
Appetite was empty at 1.30 pm.
Asked for Kalmi Kabab (wasn't that gr8) should have been a more juicy and soft . But the Parathas were good - Chilly Milly , Aloo and paneer served with Amritsari Chole and Curd (missing was the pickle.
We ordered for some Penne Arrabiata - Disspapointed (the sause was Brownish in colour)
Paneer Tikka was also not upto the mark - less marination and too much of chat masala .
A friend of mine ordered Chinese bhel - this was good
I would like to visit this place again to re post my personal review .
Will give it another chance , Agree its a VFM ! 5 Pax 650 bucks including some cokes not bad .
service was good and fast .
Anyways all the best and owners and the staff a happy new year !
We walked in at around 7pm,when the restaurant was empty with just a table being occupied. The staff was polite and they were very quick with their service.Food was good, but i dint find anything so spectacular about it.It was definitely VFM. Nothing to write back about. Maybe i should this place once again to be gaga about it.
The astonishingly large number of reviews this has received in such a short time built up a lot of expectations. And it does not disappoint on any count.
The sardarji running this place is very enthusiastic and makes very helpful recommendations.
The afghani chicken and the chicken parathas are excellent and a must try if you visit this place.
I'm not a big pasta guy, but decided to give the alfredo pasta and it was quite good.
Big ups to the paaji for running for this is a gem of a place. I'm sure I'll be going here for years to come.
A Dining Delight
''My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky"
- William Wordsworth - 1805
Sometime life's dining delights turn up when you least expect it.
Folks, let's face it. Most restaurants that I have tried in the recent past exist for the sole purpose of tormenting unsuspecting diners unlucky enough to step into their portals - they dole out huge dollops of ugly food, serve big helpings of trashy service and overall serve as bad poster boys for the wonderful cuisine, be it Indian, Italian, Mexican, Chinese or Tandoori.
Thankfully, there's the rare gem that we once in a while stumble upon in our never-ending pursuit of the holy grail of fine cuisine.
Cafe Appetite was one such rara avis in Andheri, providing a welcome respite from the gaggle of awful restaurants out there that besmirch the fine reputation of Indian and Chinese food.
We were on our way home after wasting 3 awful hours watching Rocket Singh and decided to catch dinner at Cafe Appetite. I had heard good things about this place from other acquaintainces and from the reviews here on Burrp.
We liked much of what we tasted at Cafe Appetite. An embarras de richesses, if you ask me. The place is small and nondescript, but appearances can be deceiving. So I can boldly assert that the Cafe Appetitei food does thrill the palate and is on par with the best Tandoori/Chinese fare we've had over the years.
From the delicious Haryali Paneer to the lip-smacking Afghani Chicken to the pleasing array of Chinese dishes (Triple Schezwan, Chicken Crispy, Machurian Noodles), there was little that didn't titillate our demanding palates.
You see, the spices were right and the portions adequate. Isn't that the route to dining nirvana? The parathas were one of the best I have tasted in a long time and cooked to delight even the most querulous diners. Apparently these are not part of the regular menu. They had a special Paratha festival recently and due to popular demand have now made it a regular feature. By the way, the parathas come with Choley, pickle and curd. Deeeelicious.
Sure, there were some mishaps as we rolled down this particular Culinary Highway. But they were mostly minor fender benders in an overall smooth ride. The Chicken Crispy was a tad too crisp, the HotnSour soup was average and Chilli Chicken could have been a little hotter.
After our meal, we sought out the owner - Raji, to compliment him on the food. Very gracious and invited us back to try the Italian fare.
Service - Excellent
The great thing about this place is that it is small so you get personalized service. Very attentive staff and the food took about 14 minutes to get to our table, within the promised 10 to 15 minutes.
Few shortcomings aside, Cafe Appetite is a welcome change from the long list of wannabe Chinese/Tandoori restaurants that litter our city. Yes, we're going to do our best to make time for an Italian meal here the next time we are in the Andheri area.
Good food & friendly staff
Good place to dine, only 5-6 tables in the restaurant, very nice & tasty food with simple ambience and 80's-90's music playing in the background. Tasted the paratha's and garlic bread, they were yummies. The satff were also polite, would recommend burrpers to try out this place. I would like to make a suggestion to the sardarji owner to also include Indian food in the menu for main course.
Lip Smacking Food
Title says it all I guess. Love the food here. The Afghani chicken is mouth watering and to-die for. Would classify this as a 5 if it wasn't for the wait for a table. Took about a 10 min wait to get a table last time I was there. Weekends are typically crowded as can be expected, afternoons are better though. I stop by atleast a couple of days a week with my friends. The manager now knows my favorites too, but always asks me to try something new (pasta, pizza ...). They are in the process of adding more tables in the back, so hopefully the wait for a table will ease up. Definitely worth checking out.
Good place to eat
I have ordered food from these guys like a million times. Earlier it was just a punjabi food joint serving kebabs and butter chicken kind of dishes. recently they have reopened with a new menu and a new look.
In my opinion they serve a generous portion for the kind of amount that they charge. The quality of the food is nice and the owner makes it a point to take everyone's feedback. If you point out your preferences, he will recommend something that suits your taste. The management is really professional, Rajji will make it a point to serve some alternative dish if you didn't enjoy the taste or if it was not up to your expectations. They are very serious about building a good client base and ensuring 100% satisfaction.
Do visit this place if you want to have a nice dinner at a cozy place with some personal attention. I am sure you will like the food and the place. As for me, since i stay close , i tend to order the food at home and enjoy it with my beer.
Rajji and gang keep up the good work
Went there today for a relaxed sunday brunch after reading the advert for the Paratha Festival on Burrp.
Its a cozy little place and I would expect seating to become a problem in the evenings. As it was, we were the only people there around 1230 on a sunday afternoon. Don't think they have valet parking, but the owner was nice enough to reposition his car so I could park without having the fear of my car getting towed away during my second paratha.
The menu boasts of quite a few kebabs and some pretty interesting sounding italian concoctions. I didnt muster an attempt at them today, saving precious tummy space for the parathas - and what parathas they were!
Started of with Aloo-paneer paratha while my companions went in for the Achari Chicken paratha (being a punjabi, I considered that blasphemy - but they found it pretty nice). My 2nd round was an Aloo-Gobi paratha, and the 3rd (Yes!!) was an Aloo-methi paratha. The paranthas were very well stuffed and had a nice even taste across the board. Its not very often you find tava parathas in Mumbai, and these were by far the best I have had in the city. The A-M paratha was the best of the lot for me, and it broke my heart when it was over and I had no tummy space left for an encore. I did, however, have enough space to sample the sweet lassi which was pretty nice - not too heavy and not overly sweet. I do wish it was colder though.
All the parathas are served with cholley and curd. I wasnt too keen on cholley with a paratha stuffed with such awesome flavour of its own, and asked if I could get some butter, which the smiling crew were happy to oblige me with.
Overall, a very good little eatery. I was told its only 3 months old, and I think if they can maintain this quality and attention to detail, and probably make the parathas a staple of the restuarant, it'll be a very successful little establishment.
VFM too - meal for 3 was just Rs. 405.
Lived up to the expectations
After reading excellent reviews of this place was wanting to visit Cafe appetite since a long time. Finally I visited the restaurant yesterday with one of my friend. After reading about Afgani chicken we could not think of anything else rather then that to start off.The Afgani Chicken is a winner,If you like chicken you have to taste Afgani Chicken. Then we ordered Chicken in Barbeque sauce which was decent though its a little on the spicy side. After that we placed the order for the main course,As I had read this place serves good Italian food we wanted to savour some Pasta. So we ordered Authentic Chicken Alfredo(This place serves two type of pastas Authentic/Desi so after placing the order for Desi Alfredo my friend asked the owner which pasta's are better so he suggested us to go for the authentic and even changed our order from desi to authentic alfredo)The pasta's were nice when the pasta arrived at the table the aroma was so wonderful.
We even ordered Chicken Achari Paratha which I found to be okayish. So incase you decide to have a paratha at this place go for Hariyali chicken which the owner recommends.
Overall a very good dining experience. We Had (Afgani+Mexican+Italian+Punjabi)cusine and the total damage for 2 was just Rs 475/-.
So go ahead and visit this place if you want to go and have a quiet dinner with friends/family.
Nice and appealing
Having heard and read a lot of good reviews in burrp.com (for recommendations to try new restaurants), we (me and my wife) landed one evening o eat at this place.
Being early evening around 8 pm, it was quite empty, except for the odd couple around. Good, lively, bright and appealing decor immediately set the mood. A friendly waiter took our orders of cheese garlic bread as starters as we contemplated main course. Contrary to all reviews suggesting Italian or Indian, we ordered Chinese cuisine and as was my wife choice. My wife being purely vegetarian, we ordered, on the friendly Sardarji owners recommendation, a Spicy Paneer dry dish probably chilly with Triple Szechwan Veg Fried Rice, along with a Chicken Chinese Chopsuey for me (totally carnivorous).
Now the review, the garlic bread didn't score any points for us, as it was unusually dry and had no taste, except for the bread after taste. Probably the topping was too dry and didn't penetrate the bread it was put on. On to main course, the Paneer dry dish scored full points as it was moist, succulent Paneer along with a great sauce which left a wonderful spicy tangy flavor in the mouth. The rice was equally good but probably the chili paste used could be toned down. But what was more pleasing, was the generosity of the Sardarji in giving a huge bowl of veg Manchurian with the fried rice (Please see the accompanying photographs) absolutely complementary to enjoy with the rice. This was a new one for us, which probably makes it a homely and friendly place to eat for people on a budget. Unfortunately in my dish, the chef forgot to control the salt levels, which made my Chinese Chopsuey quite salty. Otherwise, I liked the sauce of the Chopsuey, which was a perfect blend and flavor of the chicken stock used in making it. The noodles were quite crispy and the chicken used (large chunks), were absolutely soft and succulent. I find breast pieces of chicken generally dry and chewy, but this one was obviously from a better stock. The portions were humungous, so we had to doggie bag it for later.
A typical ?mom n pop? kind of restaurant, run by the owner chef and his wife, they seem content in feeding others. On talking to him, after I took permission to photograph the foods served to us, he showed me the great reviews he has received from the media as trophies for his hard work. He has recommended that I have the Afghani Chicken kebab, the stuffed parathas and the Italian, when I come next. Return I will, as for me this a place to go back too for another meal. Damages for the two of us, along with soft drinks - Rs 450. This is one place highly affordable.
Call it Paratha Central !!
We visited this restaurant yesterday (Nov 7) after a recommendation from a friend who celebrated his b'day there the previous day. Being in regular search of good restaurants, I was quite intrigued at not having heard the name of this restaurant before (especially since she talked so highly of this place) so we decided to give it a try. Situated on the new Link Road in Andheri(E), this place is not hard to find at all for those who know the area well. We reached the restaurant and found the place very relaxing. The decors were nice with lovely paintings on the wall, soft lights and soft music playing in the background (8/10).
Getting to the food bit, we started with the basil/tomoto soup. This was excellent(9/10). Then we decided to order what we really came here for - parathas. My friend had mentioned that there was a Paratha special festival going on. One clever thing the restaurant has done is to integrate parathas with some "amritsar" chole, dahi and achar. You get a nice big paratha and can enjoy it with the accompainments given without ordering anything extra. There was a huge list of parathas varying from the humble aloo paratha to more exotic haryali paratha, paneer paratha, achari paratha and chicken paratha. I counted atleast 25 to 30(probably more) paratha's on their menu. Very interesting. And the prices seemed very reasonable. They had a special "combo" price on the menu if you ordered multiple paratha's.
I am not exactly the adventurous kind when it comes to food and so decided to stick with the Aloo paratha while my friends chose the achari chicken, haryali chicken, paneer and gobi paratha. The parathas were huge and my first thought was, How on earth am I going to finish this? Eating a paratha served fresh out of the tandoor is something else. The parathas were great, especially the achari and the haryali ones (9/10) followed by aloo, paneer and gobi (8/10). The chole, yoghurt and achar combination was quite good (8.5/10) . Perhaps, what they could have done was having different accompaniments for different parathas, this would have given it the perfect edge.
Interestingly enough, the place also serves Italian and Chinese (which we did not try) but by the previous reviews I am reading here, it seems that is pretty great too.
The service was remarkable, you get your food within 10 to 15 mins of ordering. Service - 9/10, very attentive staff.
We are going there today as well as my brother in law is visting and he is a big paratha lover - much more than me ;-)
Some people call it "spaghetti sauce," others call it "gravy," but when I enjoy a well-made pasta topping, I don't hesitate to mop up the extra with some bread rather than let it go to waste. The manager at Cafe Appetite saw me doing this the last time I was there and he could not stop smiling. He came over and asked me "Should I take that as a compliment". Turned out he was the chef too!
I was just back from Panaji, Goa and was craving for some Italian food after spending most of my evenings there at Spicy Bella (a new italian restaurant that opened some months ago) and I'd read some good reviews of Cafe Appetite here on Burrp, so I decided to stop by and try it out. And was I glad! Although the size of the restaurant and the interiors do not compare to Spicy Bella, the food certainly beats it hands down.
Besides plentiful garlic and fresh marinara sauce, as Raji the chef/manager explained to me, he sprinkles love into the dishes he prepares. And diners can taste it.
"No secret about it -- just lots of love, making everything to order and cooking from scratch," said the young chef.
You can't always tell which restaurants are making fresh pasta or fresh bread by looking at the red tablecloths and white napkins. But the pastas and garlic bread at this place are just fabulous, I keep going back for more.
Mangia as they say in Italian, eat to your heart's desire!
1 Pizza, Half Veg, Half Non Veg
I was eying this place daily since it was havin tat board "Comin Soon" as its on my way to office. Then after reading the reviews I made it certain m goin to visit it as asoon as possible. So one weekday after office i decided to visited this place .
Ambience : Decent n Relaxing. There are few tables and so they pay personal attention to each n every one. Tats a awesm idea. These guys know how much ppl can b attented to at one time n they keep the job limited bt in those limited things they achieve PERFECTION......
SO for me ambience 4/5
Well we have gone there for a evening snack, so we had soup n pizza.
Soup was yummmmmmmmm ........ it was creamy rich thick n not too loaded like we get those on other chinese restaurants whr we have eat our soup n not drink it........... it was awesome.
Pizza.... now here comes the reason for the 5 star .......... wel m a hardcore non veg n my gfs a veggie. SO as she was with me n we wr goin 2 share 1 pizza. i hd no option bt to go 4 veg....... the person over there heard me ......... n then he said if i want they could make one pizza of which half is veg n other half is non veg!!!!!!!!!!
Tat guy made my day......... i mean teh way they made us feel special n helping us out by goin out of way n tat too whn we didnt asked .
Well for teh pizza . the base was crist n lite bt it was smwat sweet . Well the toppings were good bt d sweetnes was troubling a bit bt still all d effort r appreceated.
food 4/5 i wld take 1 mark for sweetnes
Well the chef was thr to help us out n rest ppl wr really attentive n i dont need to say nethin more after tat gesture of theirs................ Service is fabulous
For Service 10/5 .......... :))
In all a great experience . though they should look into dessert section as there are no options thr .But still a gr8 place with gr8 ppl running it.
I would say jst one more thing who have not gone thr yet.............
GO NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gem of a find!! A++
The greatness of food lies in the honesty of its ingredients! Thats the motto on their menu. And they fully live up to it!
I've been to this place (sitting inside) only once so far, but order ahead for pick-up regularly. The first time was sit-in when a friend took me there and I was so happy with the food that now every time I am passing by this place in the evening on my way home, I call ahead for pickup. My wife loves them more than I do!
The Afghani Chicken is delicious. The chicken is so well marinated and cooked that you can taste the aroma down to the last bit of meat on the bone. It just melts in your mouth. The triple shezwan rice has to be one of the best I have eaten. I've also tried their pasta alfredo and although I am no great fan of italian food, I thought that was great...
The only time that I was sitting inside the restaurant the service and ambiance was average. But the food and value for money is just excellent. See my summary below...
Food - 9/10
Ambiance - 7/10
Service - 7/10
Value for money - 10/10 (can I give an 11 out of 10?)
NEEDS MORE SPACE
After a gud 1st experience decided to check this place out again with my folks(dinner )
the place was almost full we managed to get a table without much of a wait.....
quickly ordered for a tomato basil soup(2/3),
was quite unique a lill different but good-recommended,
starters - ordered for the chakori kebab alill too spicy for me but the reshmi paneer tikka was too gud just melted in our mouths ...
maincourse - ordered the haryali chicken pizza (unique again and interestingly delicious )and the penne alfredo and fusilli aglioolio both were equally gud and highly recommended too..must say EXCELLENT FOOD,
the place was pretty packed and quite a chaos, service was a lill slow ,i feel they need to put in some more tables and have some more waiting staff though (the surdi )i guess the owner ,did a pretty gud job handling the situation (me from the same industry ),A star less for the service
would definetly come back for more of APPETITE
Excellent food and even better customer service!!
I can appreciate (and truly enjoy) hip gourmet and fine dining Italian restaurants like Stella (at the Leela's), but I am also grateful for smaller places like Cafe Appetite (CA) with its Mumbaiya charm, authentic food, comfortable atmosphere and the personal and friendly service.
It's not the kind of restaurant I tend to frequent, so I was a little apprehensive, especially since I had a group of 7 colleagues visiting from the US and wanted to treat them to authentic Mumbai food but also something that was familiar to them. Another colleague of mine had mentioned that CA had an interesting fusion of Chinese and Italian fare. So on a Friday night, after we finished work, I drove all 8 of us to CA.
The place was smaller than I had expected, but large surprises tend to come in small packages I guess. The decor was plain, but there was some great 80s rock music running in the background (George Michael...didn't know people still listened to that great stuff). They had to join together a couple of the tabes so we could all sit together. The manager (a very friendly Sardarji), who also turned out to be the head chef, came over and helped us pick the starters and soups. We ordered a couple of starters - Paneer tikka, Afghani Chicken (wow!!! smashing! this was a 10 on 10, everybody loved it so much that had to reorder twice), Reshmi Kababs, Garlic Bread (very authentic), veg crispy and chicken crispy(turned out a little drier than expected). Some of the guys also ordered soups (I think it was the tomato basil, manchow and sweet corn - all very well received).
For the main course we ordered a couple of the pastas - Alfredo, Arabiatta and Pesto, along with the Chinese fare - mongolian fried rice, triple schezwan rice and a couple of noodle dishes. I was very pleasantly surprised that the pastas were very nice and light with just the right amount of chunky red sauce. In talking to the friendly Sardarji, it turned out he had previously worked at Stella's - no wonder the pastas were so authentic). The triple schezwan rice was another hit and the noodles were good (a little on the spicy side for my friends). The friendly sardarji also threw in a complimentary Mama Rosso when it took them a while to get us the main course.
I was very happy with the service (a little frenetic, but I did not mind) and my colleagues loved the food. We went in thinking it would be just another mediocre fast food type place, but this was by far one of the best food experiences I've had. I would vote this the best indo-italian-chinese fusion restaurant in Mumbai. When leaving the restaurant, the friendly sardarji mentioned burrp.com and asked me to post a review for him if I liked the food. Ha, I loved the food, so here I am, as promised. I know this will end up becoming a regular hangout for me!
had been here last night with my girl, ordered the reshmi kebab and penne alfredo
though the kebab wasnt bad as in decent tender chicken well marinated ,the alfredo was just mind blowing
i dnt expect this place to serve such good pastas, perfect al dente and sauce very well made and perfectly coated the pasta ,the guy there taking care of the place made us try the garlic bread(complimentry) and said they baked their breads inhouse, was delicious ,had some herbs in the bread tht tasted amazing
This place is worth a visit .i personally enjoyed every bit
Nice Cosy Place
Me and my wife went here for dinner and were surprised by this nice quaint place run by a friendly Sardar and his wife. We ordered the Marinara (Seafood) Pizza as that was something that caught our eye in a pamphlet they had dropped by and it was excellent!! The pizza was just right, the food came not too quick and not too slow and the staff was eager to please. The owner took personal care to keep us happy - When I told him I am a Coca Cola fan and would not drink Pepsi, he got me one!! Thumbs up and I am definitely going back to this place.
Bad Experience !!!!!!!
Hey Guys !!!
I dunno, i ordered the food home & also went to this restaurant after reading the reviews on this site !!!
The first time when i ordered the food home, a pasta a tripple rice , crispy , they told me that it will take max 30 mins. to deliver the food at my place , but after calling several times, at last the food came after 1 and half hour. the taste was pathetic , there was a feed back call from whom i don't know , i told him about the food, he just answered that just visit the hotel & u will get the best taste over here !!!!!!
I went to this hotel, i ordered for Crispy & tripple Rice ...! the taste was terrible ...... yucks .... crispy was not at all crisp from any angle .... it was chewy like chewing a chewing gum .... i have ate Crispy n number of times .... this was the worst ever crispy i ever had........ then about the Tripple rice ... why to eat this tripple rice over here don't know by paying 100 bucks ??? u can also get even better rice at the roadside Chinese stalls ........ i had very bad experience over here .....
I went there after reading reviews at Burrp. In the past one week, I have visited this place atleast 4-5 times. I;m sure the manager even recognizes us now!
Its simple yet nice. The manager is very friendly. I've tried a lot of varieties in that place and I cant think of anything that could have tasted better! Tomato Basil soup was innovative. The triple schezwan rice is for 120 bucks but is enough as a meal for two. Kalmi kebabs, which were recommended by the waiter, are huge and delicious! The chicken lollipops got me nostalgic. It has been 15 years since I had such chicken lollipops! The mongolian rice was brilliant too. I would suggest adding some desserts and fancy beverages to the menu to spice it up a little. I'll probably live in that restaurant then :)
Keep it up!
Good Chinese, Great Italian
I was passing by and saw that this was back. I used to visit this place in its old avatar when they served indian and chinese. They've added italian to the menu now. Interesting combination...not many restaurants offer a variety like this...
Been here a couple of times now, since it re-opened. I like the food and typically stop to eat-in or pick-up on my way home. Good chinese food - not greasy (unlike most other places). The italian is great though. I tried a couple of the pastas and was deliciously surprised at how good it is.
I would have given a five star, but the wait to get a table sometimes has been too long.
September 15, 2009response from management at Cafe Appetite:
Thank you for taking the time out to review our restaurant. We are very glad to hear that you loved our Italian menu. Our aim is to be the best fusion Italian/Chinese restaurant in Mumbai. Our exec chef certainly has credentials to get us there having worked at some of the best restaurants in the city. Check out www.cafeappetite.com for his background.
About the wait for a table that you experienced, we aim to keep the wait time for our patrons at no more than 10 mins. We are also expanding our seating area very soon to a
Food at its finest!!
Came across this restaurant recently and was astonished by the excellence of food they have to offer. This could be my new fave place to eat!! I ordered the falafelle alfredo pasta...and I am telling you, I have eaten at 5 stars and what not..and the dish was up there with the best of them. The pasta cooked to perfection..and the alfredo sauce was spot on. I will definately be eating there again and I suggest that everyone should pay them a visit. The food is out of this world..and the portions were generous..definately value for money! I am very happy with this find
Great Food! Good Ambience!
This restaurant is a gem of a find! Burrp should do a feature story on small restaurants like this that I call "Diamonds in the rough" that people know about only from word of mouth.
I heard about this place from a friend that visits regularly and decided to spend my Sat night here. Arrived to find a full house, but after a short wait, I got a table. Nice interiors with a friendly staff. I ordered the Hot n Sour Soup, Chinese Veg Crispy for starters and the Schezwan Triple rice (all recommended by my friend). Food arrived after a short wait. And it certainly lived up to the expectations that my friend had set when he recommended this place. Great food! I left knowing fully well that this will be one of my regular joints to visit. Five Stars for this place!!
Read about this place on burrp and I decided to check it out..honestly speaking no great shakes...
The interiors are plain and simple...Nothing to write home about...But then, as soon as you see the pics that have been uploaded, you do realize that you are not going to walk into something hip and delectable!
The service is fair enough...A joint that is trying to establish itself usually falls into the trap of trying to appease its customers by hovering over their heads like drones..Unfortunately, its the case with this place too but I wont crib about it because its better than having rude staff!!
All of which brings us to the food..Tried one starter and soup and felt that these guys want to do well but are pretty lost at the moment...The Tomato basil soup was something new and wasn't too bad..The paneer crispy starter, however, was a disaster...I recently discarded my rubber floaters..Felt like they got a whiff of it, found it, fried it in oil and served it... Will give it another try but not for now...Pretty average!!
P.S.: The solitary star is for the tomato basil soup which is high on effort and for the head chef, Mr. Raji, who is very polite and is trying his best to make the place run...!!
