Nice place to catch up with your friends
This is one place which i go regularly from the past three years, i have seen the change in the staff, no alcohol licence and deteriorating food quality and lousy service but now Cafe XO is back... yo really get awesome food now (veg or non veg i will give 5star)... Place is bit enclosed and can be suffocating at times. But the food now is damn tasty and takes off your mind from other aspects! Music is typical nothing different than any other pubs but you can request some of the songs and he will play...earlier it was only TISS crowd but now you see families enjoying dinner on weekends. However its the only convenient pub/food joint in Deonar to hang out!
Cafe Xo Pathetic Service... MUST READ BEFORE Entering.
Guys.. if you are going to just booze..cafe xo is for you..
And, if you are going for a nice dinner and service.. it fails. They have pathetic service.. plates not cleaned.. food just brought and
kept on your table and no one to serve ( by the way they do take the service charge and tips :P )
And their music is too loud even at 11 in the night (that to very old collection of songs).
Fail to take the orders correctly, and in the dim lights, serve you anything they hear... sorry not serve.. they just put the plate..
You have to serve yourself.. Reason is worth hearing, because all their staff is busy watching cricket matches on the projector, which are actually for the customers..
And if you are a pure vegetarian , then don't even think about cafe XO, because you never know in the name of Paneer they
might put a prawn on your plate.. Yuk..
And if you are throwing a surprise birthday for your friend.. then you must forget cafe XO.. because they might just come and spoil the SURPRISE stuff..
So over all pathetic service, actually no service, no taking responsibility for their staffs mistakes..
I affirm that the above review is a true account of my experience.
Incredible dahi tandoori chicken
We have eaten at this restaurant several years ago when hookas were still permitted and found the place to be small, crammed and smoked out. The restaurant was tiny and the ambiance bar like. However the best thing that came out from that one visit is the fact that we now know that they do the best dahi tandoori chicken. This dish has the chicken marinated in a yogurt paste that is then roasted in the tandoor. The meat has always been tender and juicy and flavours just delicious. This dish is a delight even for those on a diet. The dahi tandoori chicken with naans have been regular home delivery orders from Cafe XO and we have never been disappointed with the quality.
Whatever happened to the REAL Cafe XO.......
I used to love cafe XO like a year back. Was a regular over there. Now at times they seem to turn off their air conditioning (cost cutting i suppose). They sometimes only serve fosters(DAMN!!!). And i definitely wouldn't pay something like 210 bucks for a pint of carlsberg. A friend of mine ordered a fruit punch n it had curdled. i showed it to the barman and even though he apologised, he didnt change the drink and he had the nerve to put it on my bill. The songs that they play nowadays are real bad. I miss those days when i could hear aerosmith, metallica, guns and roses and the other legends.
Cafe XO was awesome a year back but now its time people cross off its name from their "favorite hangout places" list.
Great place at affordable price....!
I went home for a vacation from US after a gap of 3 years and was surprised at how the suburbs have changed into a very happening place, especially for the young crowd.I went to this place,Cafe XO, at my friends suggestion, and was very pleased with their service and food ,specially the non-veg items on the menu were very delicious.I had forgotten the taste of real Tandoori chicken but this place brought back old memories. The chicken pieces were big and juicy and tasted delicious. In US,though the name is tandoori, the dish is dry and not spicy at all. The decor and the music too, compliments each other.I can truly say that it is great place for spending some quality time with family and friends .Keep it up guys....!
Dissapointed By Cafe XO
Cafe XO is the place where i love to go and chill,.... But i will think of having some food over there for as many times as possible.. but i will never go there...
the quantity of food is too less... hardly 1 person can fill his stomach.... service of Cafe XO also dissapointed me couple of times
GREAT PLACE FOR BINGE NITES...!
Iam very much shocked to read Mr. Inspector Dhar's review of xo...n (with due respect) must say its hard to belive. Then maybe as he said, its an isolated incident.
Well i visited this place yet again last nite and had a very good time with friends. Iam reviewing xo for the second time as i simply adore this place so may find ths review biased.
Neways had reached the place around 10ish...it was almost packed. luckily we managed to get a place to sit. this time around we wanted to try some cocktails which turned out quite impressive....especially the Bullfrog and cosmo, though longisland had somthin missin...For starters we had a prawn dish from the thai menu, cant remember the name and chicken tapenyaki, both were excellent. We winded up with chicken thai red curry served with thai rice. The quantity as well as the taste was quite good. Music as always was enjoyable. Service was a bit slow but like most other pubs in mumbai...its somthin we have to live with! Overall another enjoyable experience. I would recommend this place to everybody as its a cool place to have weekend binge nites and is lite on the pocket too!
Good food bad service
Wanted to try somthing new we went to Cafe XO at Govandi it has limited seating but good retro music we orderd drinks and starters. We had to remind the waiters for the same twice. It took them 15 mins for the same We ordered Tandoori Prawns which were goos with right spice no color and soft. Along with that we had Suneri Kabab which were also good. The staff were helpful but lousy slow service. In the main course we had Pomfret and Veg handi with Roti. 1st set of Roti were just warm but the second set were hot.
Finger bowls were with coldwater instead of hot water. This was bad but the music and food compensated for the same. Damages with drinks were 3055 for 8 of us the forth star is for the same against service
not worth it anymore
I have been a regular at cafe XO for quite some time now mainly because of its VFM, food , booze n happy hours.. this is what everybody goes there for n thats why it became famous.. so i guess the owners decided to earn more cos they were famous but what they dont understand is that by increasing the prices they are going the other way! many people i know have the same view..i dont go there as frequently as i used to as there are better places around if u spend a little more.. 110Rs. for large old monk is outrageous!
Music is the sole saving grace
They play good music. A mix of 80's rock, hip hop, retro & occasionally Bollywood. This is the reason despite several negative experiences that I continued to visit this place at the insistence of friends, until the mother of all negative experiences....Read on:
Negative experience #1:
Already having visited here more than 5 times, I walk in one afternoon with a young (12 years old) friend. We order vodka+redbull for me, and just redbull for my friend. The waiter refuses to serve alcohol to me (even though I look like an adult) unless I show him my ID, which I did not have on me at that point of time.
Negative experience #2:
Go drinking with another friend, we both have already had 2 redbulls with large vodkas each. We order another round. While sipping my third halfway through I discover a fly (presumably dead) in the drink. I bring this to the notice of the waiter who takes it to the bar & discusses it with the owner and removes the fly with his fingers in my plain view, and brings the drink back to me and says that he has removed the fly and can not replace it as half the drink has already been consumed. Now this is outrageous...I understand that the prices are low here but come on now...even a roadside "Country bar" will have the courtesy to replace a drink with a fly in it. We settle the check, get the hell out and vow never to return & didn't until the following incident:
Negative experience #3: At the insistence of a friend I go here 1 more time and most definitely the last. Three of us drink 7 bottles of kingfisher strong beer over the evening. The bill presented to us was apparently Rs.1330. My friend who settled the check didn't see this properly. He paid Rs.1300, and in a hurry tipped the waiter Rs.100 & we all exited the place as it was closing anyway (1:30AM). While we are about to exit the gate another waiter comes and pats me on the back and speaks very rudely "Bill bhare bina bhag gaye?". I asked him "Izzat se baat karne nahi aatha kya?"; to which he replied "bill nahi bhartha uska kya izzat". I swore at him "Chal teri ma ki c...." He knocked me to the ground with a punch to my right ear which bled. A brawl ensued involving the 3 of us and the waiter. One of my friend's head was literally cracked open and bleeding. A lot of profanity laced argument ensued with us and the wait staff until the owner came out. He apologized to us & upon his insistence we didn't pursue the matter further. My friend had to get his head stitched up in a hospital.
So maybe mine is an isolated experience with this place but keep in mind that the staff here is callous & rude.
Decent place ...but not worth the price
II am a regular to Cafe Xo since the last one year.... Its a decent place that offers you good food, good variety of drinks etc ....though Its quite a small place with a capacity of 50 people quite dark .... Sometimes the waiters are friendly, while sometime theyre really rude....They play crappy music .. no sense of transition ....one track could be house followed by a Hip Hop....Just recently they have sky rocketed their prices with a beer for minimum Rs 150 and something like Old Monk for Rs 60 for 30 ml which doesnt make sense during recession.... We always order French fries... the quantity has halved while the price has doubled. They had quite a good number of schemes going on which have been shut down. But all in all its decent place to hang out with friends, decent food, decent location and thats just about it for Café XO
Gr8 place to chill
Iam basically frm southb'bay but has to travel a lot towards the subs as my wrk place is there. Near my office this lounge is located...thoungh nothin can be compared to the gr8 pubs in town...gotta admit ths place has smthin which mkes me go there often...good music...excellent food specially their conti menu. its high time they expand their place as i feel its a bit cramped.
Great place to chill with friends
I my wife happened to land up at this place by chance some months ago; but since then its' become our favourite destination to hang out. Though we stay a bit far (vashi), every weekend we & our friends have to come to this place. The best thing about Cafe XO is its food- DELICIOUS, ranging from its Italian cuisine to Chinese, to mexican to Indian...they have the best food being served across the entire range. The music is also something which brings me back to this place- evenings has soft rock, which moves on to a great mix of Bollywood & pacy numbers by night.. I just wish the the lounge had more space, and that's the only complain I have about this place. But otherwise, Cafe XO simply rocks....
Needs to be Ex-Cafe
I agree with mananonline, this is probably one of the most mediocre pubs ever. Agreed that this place manages to pull some crowd (deonarites don't really have much of a choice) but I am quite surprised to see people writing raving reviews about this place- It just seems way too fake. I went there quite a while back and the food was pretty stale and the service was super thanda. It's just an option if you want to drink and really don't care, where!
But I won't even do that - I am the kinda guy who would then drink in a pucca bar and NOT in a bar that's a wannabe lounge!
Fun place to be...
A comfortable, fun lounge bar in the most unlikely location with good food as well. Cafe XO is easy to miss but once there, is a place to unwind, relax, meet friends and hang out..XO is a cozy, local place to socialize over drinks and small bites. The service is friendly and helpful, but lacks attention to detail.Lovely place to hang out alone or with friends. Very much moderately priced food as well as bar menu. If u wer looking for a wide range of cuisines head to xo and u wont be disappointed for sure.
XO ROCKS !!!
CAFE XO is a simple and trendy restaurant cum lounge bar focused at young and regulars. It is not luxurious yet very well decorated in the theme color of purple and green. The plush and comfortable seating arrangements with foot stomping music in the background will give you the perfect mood to booze. Imported scotch or Indian malts, whatever your choice might be, spice up with chicken malai tikka and some lip-smacking sizzlers. The funky and dark ambiance will relax your nerve after a stressful day, but a caveat for you. People who frequent this place, ultimately falls in love with the serene mood and becomes a regular. If you enjoy drinking, you will not mind that; but if you are not, indulge yourself only in food. Not the most glamorous option but there's something quite attractive and vibrant about this venue, plus their cocktail menu is superb.XO is also one of the most affordable pubs (which explains its popularity with the student community), and has happy hours everyday between 3 pm and 7pm.Exceptionally friendly staff, a chic interior and a reasonably priced menu can be found here on XO.
the "NAUGHTIEST" lounge in chembur ;-)
Cafe-bars are an ubiquitous feature of the nightlife scene anywhere in the world. This one just happens to be my favorite place in chembur to enjoy a pint of beer.
It gets going around 11 and the only thing missing here that you'd usually find in an pub is large roomy feel . Friendly staff, especially Wasim, an enthusiastic bloke with a penchant for attracting crazy, beautiful women to his bar.
Something which iam craZy bout this place is their NAUGHTY hour & NAUGHTIEST hour...man do you really get offers like these!? Unbelievable!!! 100% VFM period.
It's an Cafe Bar in a commercial bldg located a bit interiorly...no wonder i didnt discver this place before.Nice collection of music they play ranging from ROCK to Heavy metal which i prefer and also POP n bolly dance numbers for the masses.Thankfully they have stopped serving hookahs lately. Dress code: No worries, mate. Wear what you dig.
Best Place To Be Every Weekend
My Husband Vishal and I hang out here every weekend. It is one of the coolest place to be if you love good food and cocktails. We must have tried almost everything here but my favorites here are Sizzlers (Chicken in blackened sause P.S- Ask them to make it spicy or you may not like it). I love the Chicken Kadai and Chicken tava here. their tandoori chicken is big and juicy juicy juicy, just love it. Try the dahi tandoori chicken here. Their prices are very low so anyone can afford it. Love the ambience as there is good loud music playing in the background and it is dim here. I love the glass pots they have kept in every corner. I only feel that they should now expand as it is a small place.

A Lounge bar with a difference...
Surely there can't be anything much worse for the laid-back barfly than knocking back a few glasses of the high-spirits after work - sitting right underneath the very building where you have to front up the next morning at 9am.That's great if you want to drink within view of your office.
Actually, even worse would be knowing you can't call in sick if you are hung-over because everyone else from your office would have seen you - and the said high-spirits - the night before.
And so it seems a bit odd that a new bar has opened in govandi, chembur, smack bang underneath a big office block - Sai Cmmercial Building and next to the Spanco Call centre
CAFE XO THE LOUNGE BAR in chembur is a pub for meeting friends and making new ones, not shooting pool or just watching TVs. The scene is folks in their 20s and 30s, sipping cocktails and beer.
the Lounge is a welcome addition to chembur. Too many of the nightlife spots in chembur are pseudo-sports bars where people go to watch TV. Not CAFE XO. It's cool, a bit witty, and inviting, a great combination.
The pub is jumping at all hours with well-groomed professional types, beautiful people, grad students and even an occasional tourist with good taste to venture uaway from the lights of amchi MUMBAI. Friendly, attitude-free, attractive bartenders and stewards entertain with cool, jeweled concoctions such as the blue Kamakaze (vodka, triple sec, blue curacao and lime juice), Belly's button (vodka, archer's peach with a touch of mango and pineapple juice), or Bull Frog (vodka, white rum, gin, tequila, blue curacao and red bull). If youre too bewildered to get bewitched, their "Cough syrup" promises to make you weak in the knees. The bubbly colorful walls and cunning lighting scheme make even a gin and tonic seem magical.
The quality of cuisine and cocktails, in addition to the premium products stocked behind the bar, is also extremely high, and the staff are constantly working hard to keep it that way
They usually play a good range of music, different than your typical top 10. You get the feeling that you could be wearing any kind of outfit and feel comfortable there--it wasn't a "see and be seen" type of place.
In addition to the lively atmosphere you also have the Hookahs which are the latest craze to hit town. Apart from the usual flavoured ones, they also have the vodka hookahs and the shots hookahs.
If you happen to visit the place during the lazy noon hours between 3ish and 7ish which has been appropriatly named as the NAUGHTY HOURS, you can enjoy the buy one get one free offers on the spirits and also the spot offers.
